#harry should have never named a child after snape

Note
fun fact: the nice thing is movie-only, he's unconscious in the books (and acts far worse in general, they cut out a lot of Snape Bullshittery in the ending of PoA)
Book version of this scene is lowkey kinda funny to me because they purposely let him hit his head multiple times too. I just liked that the movies gave at least one redeeming act, since JKR really tried to push the whole "Snape isn't a bad person" thing. He 100% is a bad person and he never should have been considered redeemed in any aspect

I just saw your Yandere Snape posts with Harry's twin, a little Lily
I LOVE IT, I can imagine Severus secretly raising his daughter (let's face it, Severus would be TOTALLY CONVINCED that this little girl is HIS daughter), the girl never leaves Severus' room at Hogwarts during school terms, she never goes out walking through the castle garden, she eats all her meals with her father in the room, the girl studies with Severus at night, she is a little prodigy in potions
Unlike how Severus would behave with any other child, Severus doesn't bother with mini Lily's accidental magic, he never gets angry at her antics, he always gives her whatever she asks for as she is quite polite and responsible for her short life age
I can see Severus maintaining little Lily's long red hair, every morning and night brushing the long hair and combing it into a long braid.
I can also see Minerva and Albus visiting little Lily in Severus's room when they had free time, Minerva having constant fights with Severus since he doesn't allow the little girl to leave that room for months, and then, on vacation return to lock the little girl in spinner's end
And it hurts Minerva, it saddens her that even so little Lily loves Severus, loves her dad, she is never upset by Severus' decisions, she is used to not going out, her home is with Severus.
Severus would be completely delusional and desperate enough to insist to himself and anyone else that the Reader was his own flesh and blood. He wouldn’t let anyone tell him different. He won’t allow anyone to break his delusional immersion, it’s the only thing that’s brought any true happiness to his life. Lily!lookalike!Reader would be the only light to his dark, dark world and Severus is hellbent on keeping it that way.
He no doubt would groom the Reader to be solely dependent on him, raising them away from others and having himself be the only person they really get to interact with whatsoever. It wouldn’t be until Lily!lookalike!Reader was quite a bit older that Severus would even think of allowing them to interact with even just one person other than him, let alone allowing Albus and Minerva around the Reader. Even though there is a part of Severus that does really want to show off his child, his last piece of Lily, he knows better than to actually do so. The most anyone will get is a passing glimpse of the Reader until they get their Hogwarts letter and attend the school for themself, courtesy of Albus otherwise Severus would have privately taught the Reader from his home at Spinner’s End and the confines of his office at Hogwarts. And there’s no doubt that Albus would have to be pretty persistent to get Severus to even consider allowing the Reader to walk the corridors of Hogwarts freely out of his sight and away from his grasp, among other students who could taint them and become bad influences for his precious bby.
Minerva absolutely tries her damndest to be involved in Lily!lookalike!Reader’s life. She really tries to get the Reader to seek things outside of Severus and his hold over them. She encourages them to make friends and wander around, seeking out their curiosity of life. Minerva especially does her best to bring the Reader and Harry to each other so that they can make up for lost time and be together again like they should have been all this time. Hell, she may just be too tempted to take both Harry and Lily!lookalike!Reader away from their lives with their respective ‘guardians’ and raise them herself like they should have been all along, living a happy and fulfilling remaining childhood together and with someone who wants nothing but the best for both of the kids.
While Severus is being dramatically overprotective of the Reader and keeping them away from everyone who isn’t him, Minerva totally visits the Reader in her cat form and spends time with them that way. It would really mean a lot to her if the Reader had picked a cat as their chosen companion for Hogwarts and named it after the name they gave Minerva in her cat form. Maybe even if they just named the cat after in general, calling it “Minnie” or something.
Severus would be so incredibly doting and attentive towards the Reader from day one, never letting up. If anything he only gets worse as they get older. They’re his world after all and he utterly adores them to no end. He gives them everything they ask for and more. He would actually be very affectionate towards them, especially behind closed doors. Although, he would totally not stop himself from showing his bby affection around others if they wanted or needed some. He’d pat their head, ruffle their hair, gingerly pinch their cheek, etc. And once they attend Hogwarts as a student, Severus makes it very, very clear that everyone is absolutely beneath Lily!lookalike!Reader and that they are his favorite little student. Hell, if he could he would have them sitting on a pedestal just to thoroughly let it sink in how much more he values them over anyone else.
Severus would be extremely grateful that Lily!lookalike!Reader is so very obedient and that they don’t try to push the boundaries that he’s set in place. He couldn’t be happier that they don’t mind being with him and only him. He’s probably made it very clear since they were young that he’s all they have and vice versa, therefore they’re all each other needs. No one else matters. Severus is the Reader’s home and the Reader is his.
Also, Severus would totally have Lily!lookalike!Reader grow their hair out longer. Whether they’re a boy or girl, he wants them to look even more like Lily than they already do. It would just further enhance his delusion.

Harry getting exasperated by Draco after fourth year, and an incident that shall not be named. It's like all of sudden he can't seem to stop getting hurt. The Incident was just the beginning, broken ribs and femur and tailbone that had him unable to attend the YuleBall. This was not going to stop Draco "I need to show off my designer robes" Malfoy. Harry finds him on the stairs leading down to the dungeons after following Snape. There he is a sweaty out of breath Draco Malfoy. He could be a maiden
Sickly child from the past. Either way Harry feels enough pity that he lifts him up and says he is taking him to Madam Promfrey but draco is about to die of embarrassment and anger, definitely anger so he says he will just go back to the Slytherin dorms. This is how Draco finds out that Harry has been inside their dorms before and spends an hour berating Potter about traditions and decorum. Harry puts up with the huffing and puffing Malfoy because it's like an angry ferret chittering at him. Not that he would ever say that aloud.
There seems to be a mutual agreement to forget this has happened until the second task happens. No Draco isn't Harry's treasure. Not in the conventional way. The stands hover and wrap the front of the lake. And before the cannon can even signal the beginning of the first task. Draco is shoved by rowdy students into the lake. His words of " My father" the last thing heard. Everyone is busy looking at the champions only Harry sees that Draco malfoy is not rising back up so he knocks back the gillyweed and dives for the Slytherin while people call him out as a cheater. Draco does not know how to swim and is being dragged by the grindylows, and Harry has to fight them to take back the flailing boy. Harry doesn't have to do the task because he saved someone and is applauded because he fought off not only the grindylows, but demented seahorses to retrieve his prize. His prize who spend their time in infirmary berating him for stealing the gillyweed from Uncle Sev and all the ways that the Triwizard tournament is an honor that he has besmirched with his fumbling.
Before the third task begins, Harry sees Draco at the front of the stand when he decides that should be a shit.
" Oy Malfoy, try not to get into any trouble while I'm busy. Kinda trying to win tournament, don't have time for damsels in distress"
And that's how Harry is chased into the Maze with a willy Slytherin by his side. They realize their in trouble when they can't get back out the way they came. Draco is definitely berating Harry again for calling him a Damsel. If anything he is a refined gentleman of the highest quality. Harry thinks he is something, alright. Maybe he does think Draco is fine, but only little after they haven't sniped at each other since the Incident. So they do the trials when a hulky Bulgarian finds them and trys to crucio them because what the fuck . Instead they lose Harry's wand because why not. They finally reach the trophy and thank merlin because Draco is so over this shit.
The cemetery happens but instead of an Avada, Draco is hit with a bone breaking curse. The only thing he can is be as quite as possible. Draco hears the resurrection and his father is there and he is crying but can't call out for help because he has never felt unsure of his father's love but he isn't willing to do it now. Harry fights using dracos wand but no knows that and that's what helps Harry decide dead or nort he is rescuing Draco one last time. He is sure that Malfoy is dead.
Imagine his surprise when he portkeys back to hogwarts and he finds grey eyes silently crying.
Draco has never been silent in his life, he has never been silent in anything. Whether it's his love or hate, he has never been silent. So Harry feels like he and draco finally share the worst sort of feeling. The horrible feeling of having to be not seen or heard by people who are suppose to love you. The uncertainty of calling out for help to a father, an aunt, your blood. Its blood not being thicker than water.
They each understand the terrible thing they have just witnessed.
It's under the cover of night that Draco finally speaks
" I thought you were going to leave me there"
"Never" Harry replies. "Never, never never" he cradels the blonde into him softly, his bones are still regrowing slowly. Skelegrow should only be taken once in a six month period.
" Your my damsel in distress of course I saved you "
" Of course, I'm yours"
and it's meant to be a joke. It's meant sound rude or even petty to call Draco that.
They start to cry together because that just means Draco is Harry's and Harry has something he doesn't have to share. Draco's proclamation confirms that he is Harry's.

13 Questions Every Harry Potter Fan Should Be Able To Answer
Question 1: Which house do you belong to?
Ravenclaw. I'm curious, creative and introverted. But I would also be happy in Hufflepuff since I am, at the end of the day, baby.
Question 2: Which Deathly Hallow would you choose?
If I'm being honest with myself probably the stone, to have one final conversation with my mother who recently, and very suddenly, passed away.
If that hadn't happened then I would've chosen the invisibility cloak because I love the idea of not being perceived.
Question 3: Which Character do you have a (not so) secret crush on?
Interesting question. I had to pick someone compliant with their characterization in the books then I'd probably say I'm most attracted to Tonks or Sirius, or the Weasley twins. But if you saw my AO3 history you'd think Tom Riddle.
Question 4: What are your Indepth and controversial thoughts on Severus Snape?
I think that Severus is a very tragic character. He came from poverty, was abused and neglected by his parents. The only person to ever show him kindness was Lily. He was canonically ugly, weird, and had bad hygiene. He was bullied by two classist Gryffindors and craved power and vengence which led him down a dark path. He died a hero who was courageous and self-sacrificing but I don't think she-who-shall-not-be-named wrote a convincing enough redemption story, especially not one in which the hero would give one of his son's Severus's name. He was still a wholly miserable person who was stuck in the past and verbally abused the child of his former nemesis for six years.
My controversial thoughts surrounding Snape was that he was first and foremost a genius - a potions prodigy who literally crafted his own spells as a teenager.
There was an unequal power dynamic between Severus and the Marauders. He was a dirt poor half-blood and they were rich purebloods. There was never any equal footing between them and as much as he participated in the feud, it was always in retaliation to their cruelty. (I can say this without bashing Sirius and James as all people contain multitudes).
I also don't believe Severus was a bigot. I think there's a good chance he hated muggles, as a result of the abuse from his father, but I he was too smart to buy into the idea of blood supremacy when he, a half-blood, was smarter than most of his pureblood peers. And when Lily, a muggleborn, was at the top of their class.
One of the more controversial headcanons I have is that Severus was recruited into becoming a Deatheater, not because he believed in their agenda but because he was allured by the promise of power, influence and vengeance. I believe he probably moved up high in the ranks after graduating Hogwarts because he was cunning, ambitious, and committed to proving himself and gaining Voldemort's respect. I also believe during his time as a Deatheater he most likely had to commit horrible acts of violence and cruelty, and that while Severus does have a sadistic streak (one that gives him the allusion of power), he does not wish suffering upon innocent people. He probably dealt with these peforming these acts by compartmentalizing his responsibiltiies as a Deatheater and using occlumancy.
One final thing I want to add is that I don't think Severus was obsessed with Lily in a 4Chan, incel sort of way (in fact, he kind of gives off ace vibes). In my opinion, Lily was the only person to ever give him love, kindness and compassion, and while he was in love with her, he was above all else, completely wracked with guilt over being responsible for telling Voldemort about the prophecy. He agrees to protect Harry because he feels indebted to her until the day he dies.
Question 5: Who, In your Opinion, Is more evil: Voldemort or Dolores Umbridge.
What a funny question. The first thing that comes to mind for me is Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump and the discourse in 2015-17 about which politician was worse. Voldemort (like Trump) is honest about who is is and what he stands for (self-interest and accumulating power). Alternatively Umbridge (like Clinton) tries to create the perception that she is good and righteous.
Umbridge represents the banaltiy of evil. She's sadistic and abusive, even towards children -all while wearing a polite smile on her face. She has the same vibe as a Catholic nun who abuses people in the name of god, and for Umbridge it was about the rule of law.
However, Voldemort's evil can't even be measured on the same scale. He's a meglomaniac eugenicst willing to purge the world of things he deems inferior to him. He was inspired by dictators like Hitler and Stalin.
It's far easier to hate Umbridge because she's not honest about who she is, and we've met a figure of authority who's exactly like her. Voldemort by all accounts and purposes, was far more powerful, influential and destructive, but too grandiose to relate to.
Question 6: Which death in the series is the most heartbreaking?
Sirius, Fred, Remus, but especially Fred. It was cruel to take him away from George. I think it would've been more satisfying if Percy, as a way to redeem himself to his family, sacrificed himself to save his brother during the Battle of Hogwarts.
Question 7: What Quidditch position would you play?
I wouldn't. I'd probably be in the stands or take advantage of the school being empty and fuck around in the empty castle all day.
Question 8: What Wizarding Career would you pursue?
Probably a teacher or academic/Unspeakable as I love research. That or someone who paints the magical portraits.
Question 9: Which book in the series is you favourite?
PoA was always my favourite as a kid because I really loved Lupin's character, and hearing about the Marauders. The time-turner plot gives me an eyeroll now but the climax is still one of the most thrilling to me. We also got a taste of Powerful Harry, which actually never came to fruition, but I really loved the idea that Harry was a very exceptional wizard who was coming into his powers and not just an every-man character.
Question 10: Who should have ended up together? Hermione/Ron or Hermione/Harry?
Hermione/Harry if it was developed earlier on. The author explained that Ron/Hermione was something she pigeonholed herself into in the first two books but later regretted it. I think canonically, Harry and Hermione are like siblings, but if their relationship was developed after PoA then it would've been really satisfying to see.
Question 11: Have you read Harry Potter and the Cursed Child?
No. Never will.
Question 12: Was Dumbledore a Hero or a Villain?
A hero. His plan worked in the end, as convoluted it may have been. I don't see Dumbledore as an all-good Santa-Claus-Grandpa character like his die-hard fans do, but I also don't see him as a chess-player villian twirling his moustache from the shadows.
I used to really hate Dumbledore because of how secretive he was. It was absolutely insane for him to have put Harry on that wild goose chase with such little information and it was a miracle they won the war at all.
At the end of the day, I think he was a man that feared having too much power due to the mistakes he made in his youth when he was hungry for it. He influenced things from the sidelines because he knew he was imperfect. He made mistakes all the time, and owned up to them, and if he was all-powerful those mistakes would have much graver consequences.
He loved Harry, in the end, and did not want to see him in that mess, but had the pressure of saving the world on his shoulders.
Question 13: Who is the real Hero of the Story? Harry Potter or Neville Longbottom?
Seems like a redundant question to me, but perhaps there's discourse around it I'm not aware of.
Harry is. But he doesn't carry that tile alone.

Harry Potter but He's constantly wearing a suit of armour(for medical-magic reasons) and has C-PTSD(I can't even with this title)
(TW for body horror, and mention of child abuse) Soooo I had a lot of time on my hands and you know, as I do when I have daydreaming time, I started thinking about Harry Potter. Now I've read Harry Potter and I think the one thing that always frustrated me was his lack of personality. It always felt like characters were telling us who he was, instead of him *showing* us who he was. So I came up with more interesting versions of him as one does. And then today I came up with a version where the magic that struck him in childhood and was cast by musty dusty Moldemort didn't just leave a scar...oh no no no this was the worst of magic and it had been just left to stew in his body, a scar is too small. His ENTIRE BODY SLOWLY MELTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT AND PULSED WITH MAGIC in this little alternative universe I created. Now this left most of his body a mushy magical mess and now Dumbledore has to figure out what to do with this somehow still alive pile of flesh, magic and warped bone that was baby Harry. So he stuffed it in a suit of porcelain armour of course. This gave Harry's body a sense of structure but came off as a bit uncanny and couldn't pass for human. So most of his life before Hogwarts was spent in Dursley's closet but you know for slightly better reasons this time. This also give the Dursley kinda better reasons to be disgusted by him. He's allowed to go out at night when no one can see him though. He regularly goes to see Mr.Weasley to check on his armour, since Mr. Weasly is the one who designed it. This introduces him to Ron before Hogwarts and allows them to form a friendship. Once Harry gets into Hogwarts, he would have to slowly build up friendship and trust rather than the quick way it happened in the books cos he's slightly uncanny now to most people and I just find it more realistic. Here are some doodles I did on my phone to get an idea of what this Harry kinda looks like:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The silly face was something he drew on for fun and friendliness purposes. The one on the right us to show what he looks like underneath)
Also the C-PTSD comes in with the Dursleys especially Vernon(I think that's his name) This would most likely be due to physical abuse that not even his son or wife would know about. Harry would push this all down and then from then on start being a happy go lucky guy who just pushes down every negative emotion and has terrible memory. And this would backfire on him in a key moment in the story. Why C-PTSD? Why so specific? Well bc it's the one I know how to write well, since I've researched on it a lot and have experienced symptoms of it. Also I think he should have some sort of mental scar after all that's he's been through
Other things that would probably change in this weird au :
James and Lily had a *terrible* relationship and James was secretly gay for Mr.Weasley just never had the guts to confess
Dark magic isn't a thing, there's just magic and some just happens to be able to kill you
Sirius x Lupin and Dumbledore x Snape are Canon in this au(Please don't come at me for Snape and Dumbledore, they are both adults)
Dumbledore ain't smart or wise, he's just a master of bullshit and Snape sees right through it(Snape tries to better him, whether it's working is a different story)
Ron x Harry does become a thing in this au but it's slow-burning in a way? Just know feelings are weird
Hermione is a ball of anxiety and burnt out gifted kid syndrome but she is still the only logical one in the iconic trio
The story's main theme would not be grief but rather trauma and more specifically on trauma, mental illness, autonomy and free will and how they relate.
Magic would be very, very dependent or have unwanted or different effects depending on the emotional state of the user at the time. Think magic bursting out during a panic attack or a water spell become an electrical and water spell due to the castor's overexcitement
Uhhhh this is just a silly au I wrote and I might refine it more in the future and you know seriously think about details like why Harry is living with the Dursleys still cos 'for safety'does not feel solid enough but then again it sounds like the kinda thing this Dumbledore would say.
If you read all of this thanks and goodbye

𝕿𝖍𝖊 𝖓𝖊𝖝𝖙 𝖆𝖋𝖙𝖊𝖗𝖓𝖔𝖔𝖓, I was sitting in Professor Dumbledore's office. He had just finished telling my dad everything that Barty Crouch had done and said, not bothering to gloss over the fact that he had tortured me or that I had no visions about myself and most embarrassingly of all- he told dad about the only vision I had ever had about myself. Dad seemed a bit horrified about that.
"Severus is my age!" Dad hissed, on his feet suddenly. "Elizabeth- what- I don't-"
Dumbledore looked tired and sad but he smiled. "I understand where you are coming from, and I have no idea how it will work out, but rest assured, there must be a reason that it happens and I can't think that it is a bad one. But now, I have a question for just the two of you. I believe you, Elizabeth, to be Harry's sister."
I looked up at dad who had turned a bit pink. I knew that he deeply admired Dumbledore and the last thing he wanted to do was lie to him. I stared down at my feet.
"It's obvious now, isn't it?" Dad finally asked.
"I've known about her existence for about 15 years now." Dumbledore said lightly.
Dad and I looked at him in amazement. I felt guilty for lying in my second year now. "How?" I asked.
"Severus went to James' house the night your parents died. He stayed outside the house and saw Sirius coming out with a second child, a girl. When you showed up to school. . . well you look extremely like your mother, except for James eyes of course. But what Severus recognized was the locket you wear. It was your mothers. Professor McGonagall recognized it as well. We three Professors are the only ones who know and I suppose Sirius and Remus know as well."
I hesitated and said, "Firenze knows too, and my friend Trang. But Harry doesn't. I. . . well when I was sorted into my house, the Sorting hat told me it was too dangerous for me to be in Gryffindor. . . obviously it probably should've just put me in there anyways considering. . ." I drifted off and then started up again, "Anyways. . . I found that I shouldn't tell Harry until after we graduate Hogwarts. I don't know why, I just do, so please?" I begged Dumbledore, "Please don't tell anyone else."
"Do not worry Elizabeth." Dumbledore said. "I was never going to tell anyone. Severus and Minerva have already promised not to tell a soul as well. Though I am curious about how Crouch believed Harry's sister was dead?"
I blushed. "Well, I told you my dream I had over the summer. Dad and I thought. . . well I mostly thought it up. . . if we put something in the house that showed there was a daughter but that she had. . . that she had. . ." I couldn't put the words forth and Dad finished for me.
"Elizabeth wrote up a sign that stated the birth and death of herself though under a different name. We put it in the crib in case Voldemort came checking on Pettigrew's story. I didn't want Elizabeth taken from me because she was Harry's sister. Though of course, I knew Voldemort was more likely after her visions anyways."
Dumbledore nodded. "Ingenious and well thought out. You do seem to have tricked him."
"And Crouch tortured you?" Dad said with a pale face. "You didn't say anything!"
"He was going to kill Professor Snape. . ." I said softly.
Dad snorted. "Could've taken care of himself, I would think."
"You don't understand." I said, twisting my hands in my lap. "When I was under the imperius curse, he made me steal from him. . . and he caught me and gave chase. . . and he spoke through me, saying he would kill me if Snape said anything to Dumbledore. So Snape went to Moody for help, because Moody was an Auror. . . but of course, Crouch was Moody. He made me. . . he made me. . . he made me go to Snape's office in the middle of the night. If he was going to kill him, he could've done it right then and there. But instead, he made me wake him up and. . ." I drifted off.
"And?" Dad prompted me sharply.
I blushed and edited a little bit. "Made me torture myself in front of him, as punishment for Snape going to Moody. I couldn't. . . I couldn't do anything to risk him dying. . . and when it was a choice between. . . between Ced and Professor Snape. . ." tears started up again and I wiped them away angrily. "I would've rathered risking myself than the people I love."
Dad looked at me in anxiety. Dumbledore however leaned forward and said, "I admire your bravery Elizabeth. I am sorry about Cedric."
"He was my only friend in Hufflepuff." I whispered. "And I still couldn't save him. . ."
Dad put a hand on my shoulder and Dumbledore looked at me and said, "Do not blame yourself Elizabeth. There is nothing you can do-"
But I sat up and reached under my shirt and brought out the time turner but Dumbledore was already shaking his head. "There is nothing we can do Elizabeth, we can not turn time back on death."
I lowered my hand, disappointed.
"Remus." Dumbledore said. "I would be much obliged if you'd stay at the castle until term ends? I think Elizabeth's going to need your support, as much as she likes being on her own. And I think there will be several students here who will be happy to see you. I believe Alastor might be happy to have you around as well."
"Of course." Dad said, though he looked a bit surprised by the request like he had last night.
Dad and I left the office after that.
Dumbledore had been right. Multiple students had came up to Dad and asked him questions, whether about what Dumbledore had said, or classes, or just to ask how his summer had been. Moody, who was very paranoid now, seemed to be staying very close to dad as well.
I spent time with either dad or Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Hermione had shown me the trapped Rita Skeeter in her glass jar but she hadn't shown Harry or Ron yet. She said she would wait, because she knew Harry was grieving. She said she knew I was grieving too but that she thought I would like to see. It took all my strength not to grab the jar and shake it up and down.
Harry, Ron, Hermione, and I went down to visit Hagrid on one of our lessons off. It was a bright and sunny day, weather that I did not think was appropriate for mourning. Fang bounded out of the door and Hagrid said, "Who's that? Harry!"
He strode out to meet them and pulled Harry into a one-armed hug, "Good ter see yeh, mate. Good ter see yeh." Then Hagrid pulled me into a hug and I closed my eyes so that I didn't cry.
"Bin havin' a cuppa with Olympe. She's jus' left." Hagrid said, motioning to the large cups and saucers on the wooden table.
"Who?" Ron asked stupidly.
"Madame Maxime, o' course!" Hagrid said.
"You two made up, have you?" Ron asked inconsiderately.
"Dunno what yeh're talkin' about." Hagrid said as he reached into the cupboards for more cups. He made tea and gave us doughy cookies. "You all righ'?" Hagrid asked Harry gruffly.
"Yeah." Harry said.
"No, yeh're not. 'Course yeh're not. But yeh will be. So will you Elizabeth." Hagrid said.
I wrapped my arms around my stomach so that I wouldn't cry. "Don't know about that." I muttered. Harry said nothing.
"Knew he was goin' ter come back." Hagrid said suddenly and Harry, Ron, and Hermione looked up at him in surprise. "Known it fer years, Harry. Knew he was out there, bidin' his time. It had ter happen. Well, now it has, an' we'll jus' have ter get on with it. We'll fight. Migh' be able ter stop him before he gets a good hold. That's Dumbledore's plan, anyway. Great man, Dumbledore. 'S long as we've got him, I'm not too worried. No good sittin' worryin' abou' it. What's comin' will come, an' we'll met it when it does. Dumbledore told me wha' you did, Harry. Yeh did as much as yer father would've done, an' I can' give yeh no higher praise than that."
Harry gave Hagrid a smile and opened his mouth but Hagrid wasn't done. He turned to me and said, "An' you Elizabeth. Dumbledore told meh what yeh went through. Yeh were as brave as yer father, Dumbledore said."
I blushed and looked down at my feet. I wondered if Dumbledore had told Hagrid. I didn't think so. Hagrid was probably saying it from Dumbledore.
"What's Dumbledore asked you to do, Hagrid? He sent Professor McGonagall to ask you and Madam Maxime to meet him- that night." Harry asked.
"Got a little job fer me over the summer. Secret, though. I'm not s'pposed ter talk abou' it, no, not even ter you lot. Olympe- Madam Maxime ter you- might be comin' with me. I think she will. Think I got her persuaded."
"It has to do with Voldemort?"
Hagrid flinched at his name and said evasively, "Migh' be. Now. . . who'd like ter come an' visit the las' skrewt with me? I was jokin'- jokin'!" He said quickly, chuckling.
💙💙💙💙
𝕳𝖆𝖗𝖞 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝕴 sat down by the lake. It was just the two of us. Even Hermione and Ron were not around.
"Cedric mentioned you." Harry said suddenly and I looked at him.
"What did he say?" I asked.
"He told me to tell you that he loves you too." Harry said.
I blushed, tears flying down my cheeks.
"About your visions. . ." Harry hesitated. "About the one where you and Snape get married. . . you aren't going to follow through with that, are you?"
"I- I don't know." I muttered, blushing. "I mean, if it's the only thing I've ever seen about myself, doesn't it mean I should do it? And as stupid as it sounds. . . I do really like him. But I don't see how it could come true. I mean, he's never really shown great interest in me, has he?"
This was a huge, fat lie and we both knew it.
"He does treat you differently from any other student." Harry said lightly.
"Yes, I suppose that's fair." I muttered.
There was some silence and then I said, "You really were brave, you know?" I kissed his cheek.
And then I got up from where I was sitting and walked away, tears falling down my cheeks still. Cedric had loved me.
Love hurts.

𝕴 𝖍𝖊𝖘𝖎𝖙𝖆𝖙𝖊𝖉, 𝖘𝖙𝖆𝖓𝖉𝖎𝖓𝖌 outside of the potions classroom door. I made up my mind, pushing it open. Professor Snape was sitting behind his desk, looking worried, his head in his hands, and he looked up as I came in.
"How'd it go?" I asked softly. "You obviously aren't dead."
Snape stared at me for a moment and said, "No, I'm not. He listened. . . he believed. . ."
I closed the door behind me and strode up to the desk and stood in front of him. He was still sitting down, and looking at me with apprehensive eyes. I squeezed my hands in fists and relaxed again.
And then, I leaned forward and kissed him. I had surprised him. His hands came up to my face, pulling me in farther. My hands went onto his chest, balancing myself. And then he pulled my face back and asked, "Did you change your mind then?"
I hesitated and then said, standing back, "I needed you to know. . . how I felt. . . I mean, besides words. . . and I know now that you knew my mum and I thought that perhaps. . . that perhaps you only loved me because I looked like her. . . and I don't really look like her. I don't have her eyes and I know that's what you really liked most about her, and I didn't want to be a replacement. . . I didn't want to be in love with you and you only love me because I'm Lily's daughter. .  . I wouldn't have been able to stand that. . . being a replacement."
Snape stood up quickly and he was taller than me. "You never were a replacement Elizabeth." His left hand was on my face.
"Then. . ." I whispered. "Then. . . you wouldn't mind. . . if my vision. . . the one Crouch talked about. . . you wouldn't mind if that came true eventually. . . would you?"
In answer, he kissed me again, pulling me onto his lap as he sat back down. His arms were wrapped around my waist. My lips were pressed to his. An electric shock went through my entire body, ending in my heart and I pushed my lips against his harder. I moved my hand up his chest, curling around the back of his neck. One hand he left on my waist, the other trailing up my back, pressing me into him.
I was finally, finally where I belonged.
💙💙💙💙
𝕳𝖚𝖋𝖋𝖑𝖊𝖕𝖚𝖋𝖋 𝖍𝖆𝖉 𝖜𝖔𝖓 the house cup this year which I thought was horrible because Cedric was not here to celebrate it. I was sitting with the Hufflepuffs. There were yellow banners hanging around, but behind the teachers table were the black colours of mourning.
Not one Hufflepuff was talking nor eating. The food remained on serving plates and we all just stared down at our empty plates. The only ones moving at the Hufflepuff table were the Durmstrang students. Except Krum, who also looked quite downcast. We were sitting next to each other again, this time in silence. Eventually, Dumbledore stood and the quiet Great Hall got every quieter.
"The end of another year." Dumbledore said and then paused, looking at our table. Tears were already falling out of Hannah's eyes and other Hufflepuff students looked close to being there. I knew I was.
"There is much that I would like to say to you all tonight, but I must first acknowledge the loss of a very fine person, who should be sitting here, enjoying our feast with us." the tears spilled over and I put my face in my arms on the table. "I would like you all, please, to stand, and raise your glasses, to Cedric Diggory."
We all did, benches scrapping as everyone in the Hall stood, including the Professors, and saying "Cedric Diggory." I saw dad down at one end and Snape down at the other. Professor Sprout was also crying.
"Cedric was a person who exemplified many of the qualities that distinguish Hufflepuff house. He was a good and loyal friend, a hard worker, he valued fair play. His death has affected you all, whether you knew him well or not. I think that you have the right, therefore, to know exactly how it came about." Dumbledore added. I looked up in surprise and he continued, "Cedric Diggory was murdered by Lord Voldemort."
Panicked whispers broke out amongst the crowds and Susan grabbed my arm and gasped, "Is he telling the truth?"
I nodded my head, tears falling down my face still. "Yes. He's back."
"There is somebody else who must be mentioned in connection with Cedric's death, I am talking, of course, about Harry Potter. Harry Potter managed to escape Lord Voldemort. He risked his own life to return Cedric's body to Hogwarts. He showed, in every respect, the sort of bravery that few wizards have ever shown in facing Lord Voldemort, and for this, I honor him."
Dumbledore turned and saluted Harry with his goblet. Nearly everyone followed suit, raising our glasses and murmuring Harry's name. Even Snape and through my tears, I smiled at him. His cheeks coloured and he looked away from me. Dad's eyes narrowed, watching the exchange between the two of us. I quickly looked away. Dad might have a heart attack if he found out me and Professor Snape were kissing each other.
"The Ministry of Magic, does not wish me to tell you this. It is possible that some of your parents will be horrified that I have done so- either because they will not believe that Lord Voldemort has returned, or because they think I should not tell you so, young as you are. It is my belief, however, that the truth is generally preferable to lies, and that any attempt to pretend that Cedric died as the result of an accident, or some sort of blunder of his own, is an insult to his memory." Dumbledore said.
I kept my head high though tears were streaming down my face. Voldemort was going to pay and I was going to make sure of it. How, I wasn't so sure, but he was. I looked over at where dad was sitting, looking at Dumbledore with rapt attention. Professor Snape was looking at me anxiously. I looked back at Dumbledore.
"The Triwizard Tournament's aim was to further and promote magical understanding. In the light of what has happened- of Lord Voldemort's return- such ties are more important than ever before." Dumbledore said, looking at Madam Maxime and Hagrid, then the Beauxbatons at the Ravenclaw table, and then the Durmstrang at the Hufflepuff table. Krum was sitting on the other side of me, looking sober.
Krum looked almost frightened as though he thought Dumbledore was going to say something horrible about the Durmstrang students. I put a hand on his arm and squeezed it gently, giving him a watery smile. He smiled hesitantly back.
"Every guest in this Hall, will be welcomed back here at any time, should they wish to come. I say to you all, once again- in the light of Lord Voldemort's return, we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. Lord Voldemort's gift for spreading discord and enmity is very great. We can fight it only by showing an equally strong bond of friendship and trust. Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open. It is my belief- and never have I so hoped that I am mistaken- that we are all facing dark and difficult times. Some of you in this Hall have already suffered directly at the hands of Lord Voldemort. Many of your families have been torn asunder. A week ago, a student was taken from our midst. Remember Cedric. Remember, if the time should come when you have to make a choice between what is right and what is easy, remember what happened to a boy who was good, and kind, and brave, because he strayed across the path of Lord Voldemort. Remember Cedric Diggory!" Dumbledore finished.
The Hufflepuff table was crying, most of us already had our heads down on the table, or held high like mine, just letting the tears flow. We left the Great Hall as we were dismissed. Instead of going to the Hufflepuff common room, I went to the potions classroom, and sat on Snape's bed until he came in.
"I thought you might be waiting for me." He whispered, sitting on the bed next to me. He put an arm around me and fell back, laying down on the bed. I laid down next to him, burying my face in his robes, but didn't cry. I was burnt out from crying.
"Dad's not happy about a certain vision." I muttered.
"You told him?" Snape asked lightly.
I snorted, "No, Dumbledore did."
"What's it to him?" Snape asked lazily.
"He's my dad, or at least the closest thing to a dad that I have and has been for 14 years Professor, I think he has a right to worry about who I date." I said this very lightly, so that he might miss the word date.
He frowned, "Dates a light word, isn't it? And don't call me Professor, that's too weird."
I laughed a little. "What do you want me to call you then?"
He went bright red and said. "Jeez Elizabeth." He sighed, pulling his arm tighter around me. "Just call me Severus."
"Severus." I repeated softly, tasting the word in my mouth. He shivered, squeezing me tighter. "I've always wanted to call you that." And then I reached up and kissed him on the lips.
💙💙💙💙
𝕯𝖆𝖉 𝖆𝖓𝖉 𝕴 got on the train a few days later, one of the first people on the train. Dad went off somewhere and Harry, Ron, and Hermione joined us later. Dad came back sometime before lunch and then left again. I think he was visiting students or something. Hermione brought out the Daily Prophet and Harry looked at it apprehensively.
"There's nothing in there. You can look for yourself, but there's nothing at all. I've been checking every day. Just a small piece the day after the third task saying you won the tournament. They didn't even mention Cedric. Nothing about any of it. If you ask me, Fudge is forcing them to keep quiet." Hermione said, sounding smug.
"He'll never keep Rita quiet." Harry said as Dad came back into the compartment. "Not on a story like this."
"Oh, Rita hasn't written anything at all since the third task. As a matter of fact, Rita Skeeter isn't going to be writing anything at all for a while. Not unless she wants me to spill the beans on her." Hermione said in a trembling voice.
"What are you talking about?" Ron asked.
"I found out how she was listening in on private conversations when she wasn't supposed to be coming onto the grounds." Hermione said in a rush.
"How was she doing it?"
"How did you find out?"
"Well, it was you, really, who gave me the idea, Harry." Hermione said.
"Did I? How?"
"Bugging." Hermione said happily.
"But you said they didn't work-" Harry said, frowning.
"Oh not electronic bugs. No, you see. . . Rita Skeeter is an unregistered Animagus. She can turn, into a beetle." Hermione said, reaching into her bag and pulling out the glass jar.
"You're kidding. You haven't. . . she's not. . ." Ron said.
"Oh yes she is." Hermione said, shaking the jar.
Ron raised the jar to his eyes saying, "That's never- you're kidding."
Dad was sitting mildly in the compartment, looking at the jar with interest.
"No, I'm not. I caught her on the windowsill in the hospital wing. Elizabeth told me where she was. Look very closely and you'll notice the markings around her antennae are exactly like those foul glasses she wears."
"There was a beetle on the statue the night we heard Hagrid telling Madame Maxime about his mum!" Harry exclaimed.
"Exactly. And Viktor pulled a beetle out of my hair after we'd had our conversation by the lake. And unless I'm very much mistaken, Rita was perched on the windowsill of the Divination class the day your scar hurt. She's been buzzing around for stories all year."
"When we saw Malfoy under the tree. . ." Ron said slowly.
"He was talking to her, in his hand. He knew, of course. That's how she's been getting all those nice little interviews with the Slytherins. They wouldn't care that she was doing something illegal, as long as they were giving her horrible stuff about us and Hagrid."
The door of the compartment slid open and I got to my feet immediately. "Elizabeth. . ." Dad muttered and I shook him off.
"Very clever, Granger." Draco said, not seeing dad because I was blocking him from view. "So. You caught some pathetic reporter and Potter's Dumbledore's favorite boy again. Big deal. Trying not to think about it, are we? Trying to pretend it hasn't happened?"
"Get out!" Harry snapped.
"You've picked the losing side, Potter! I warned you! I told you you ought to choose your company more carefully, remember? When we met on the train-" I cut off the rest of his words as I lunged at him knocking him out of the compartment. I punched and kicked every part I could reach, dodging their own blows until all three of them were laying on the floor in agony. Dad grabbed my arm, pulling me back into the compartment.
"Sit down and cool off." he said gruffly, making me sit down on the bench.
Draco, Crabbe and Goyle were on their feet again and they didn't seem to care Dad was there. "I told you not to hang around with riffraff like this! Too late now, Potter! They'll be the first to go, now the Dark Lord's back!" Draco said, jerking his head at Hermione, Dad, Ron, and me, "Mudbloods and Muggle-lovers and part humans first! Well- second- Diggory was the f-"
There was a blinding flash of a dozen spells zooming towards them. Hermione, Ron, Harry, and I had our wands out.
"Thought we'd see what those three were up to." Fred muttered, stepping onto Goyle and into the compartment. George followed, who stepped multiple times on Malfoy.
"Interesting effect." George said. "Who used the Furunculus curse?"
"Me." Harry said.
"Odd." George said lightly. "I used Jelly-Legs. Looks as though those two shouldn't be mixed. He seems to have sprouted little tentacles all over his face. Well, let's not leave them here, they don't add much to the décor."
Ron, Harry, and George kicked the bodies out of the compartment and then shut the door.
"Hello Professor Lupin." Fred said lightly. "Don't suppose you sent a hex of your own now, did you?"
I giggled against my better judgement. Dad ignored him, pulling out a book.
"Exploding Snap, anyone?" Fred asked.
I won three of the four games and we were in the middle of the fifth game when Harry asked, "You going to tell us, then? Who you were blackmailing?"
"Oh." George said, frowning, glancing up at dad who had peered over his book. "That."
"Just tell them." I said lightly.
"Ludo Bagman." Fred said.
"Bagman? Are you saying he was involved in-" Harry asked sharply.
"Nah. Nothing like that. Stupid git. He wouldn't have the brains." George muttered.
"Well, what, then?" Ron asked.
"You remember that bet we had with him at the Quidditch World Cup? About how Ireland would win, but Krum would get the Snitch?" Fred asked slowly.
"Yeah." Harry and Ron said slowly together.
"Well, the git paid us in leprechaun gold he'd caught from the Irish mascots." Fred said.
"So?"
"So! it vanished, didn't it? By next morning, it had gone." Fred exclaimed impatiently.
"But- it must've been an accident, mustn't it?" Hermione asked hesitantly.
"Yeah, that's what we thought, at first. We thought if we just wrote to him, and told him he'd made a mistake, he'd cough up. but nothing doing. Ignored our letter. We kept trying to talk to him about it at Hogwarts, but he was always making some excuse to get away from us." George said, laughing bitterly.
"In the end, he turned pretty nasty, told us we were too young to gamble, and he wasn't giving us anything." Fred said.
"So we asked for our money back." George said, glowering.
"He didn't refuse!" Hermione gasped in horror.
"Right in one." Fred said. I snorted.
"But that was all your savings!" Ron said.
"Tell me about it. Course, we found out what was going on in the end. Lee Jordan's dad had had a bit of trouble getting money off Bagman as well. Turns out he's in big trouble with the goblins. Borrowed loads of gold off them. A gang of them cornered him in the woods after the world Cup and took all the gold he had, and it still wasn't enough to cover all his debts. They followed him all the way to Hogwarts to keep an eye on him. He's lost everything gambling. Hasn't got two Galleons to rub together. And you know how the idiot tried to pay the goblins back?" George asked.
"How?" Harry asked.
"He put a bet on you, mate. Put a big bet on you to win the tournament. Bet against the goblins." Fred said. "'Course, he asked Elizabeth first and she told him that you'd tied with Cedric but Bagman didn't want to risk it."
"So that's why he kept trying to help me win. But I did win, didn't I?" Harry asked. Dad looked very interested now, the book was in his lap again, and he was looking at us.
"Nope. The goblins play as dirty as him. They say you drew with Diggory, and Bagman was betting you'd win outright. So bagman had to run for it. he did run for it right after the third task." George said with a sigh.
"Should've listened to Elizabeth." Fred said.
I put my exploding snap cards down and went to sit next to dad, curling up next to him and leaning my head on his shoulder. Dumbledore had been right, I thought. I really had needed my dad.
💙💙💙💙
𝖂𝖍𝖊𝖓 𝕯𝖆𝖉 𝖆𝖓𝖉 I got home, Sirius was laying in dog form in the garden. Trang was sitting next to him, scratching his head.
"Elizabeth!" She said, jumping up and hugging me. "Oh, it's so good to see you."
"Hey Trang." I said softly, hugging her back.
Trang took one look at me and her smile fell. "Let's go fly, shall we?" she asked, her way of saying she wanted to talk to me.
"Sure." I said, feeling a bit better. "Let me get my broom out, okay? And put my stuff away."
Trang nodded. "I'll meet you back here." She dashed off down the road.
Dad unlocked the door and Sirius trotted inside and Dad and I followed. "I hope you weren't waiting long Sirius." Dad said as Sirius turned into a human. I noticed he was wearing dad's robes I'd given him back in the cave.
"Where's Buckbeak?" I asked.
"Out in the garden." Sirius said. "You have high enough fences that he ought to be okay out there. Dumbledore said he'd be in touch so we probably won't be here long."
I nodded and carried my trunk up the stairs and tossed it into the corner. Then I grabbed my broomstick and went over to the top of the stairs and listened.
". . . worried about her Sirius." Dad was muttering. "I've never seen her so upset. . ."
"She just lost her best friend Remus. Don't you remember how you felt, when you heard about James?" Sirius said. "And you weren't there when Crouch explained what he he'd been doing. She's been tortured multiple times and was under the imperius curse. She hasn't had a good year and I know her Remus, she's blaming herself for her friend's death and nothing either of us say- or anyone for that matter- is going to convince her otherwise."
"I know that. . . I just feel so helpless and I can't tell her that. . . she hides her feelings when she knows I'm worried about her. If I tell her I feel helpless, she'll just pretend that she's fine. She hid the fear that I didn't love her for nearly 8 years Sirius." Dad sighed. "And. . . oh Merlin's Beard. . . this vision she had about herself and Snape. . ."
Sirius snorted. "Please. She has better taste than him."
A smile twitched across my lips and then faded. Dad sounded frustrated when he answered, "I'm not so sure, Sirius. The way they look at each other when no one else is looking. . . or at least when they think no one else is looking. . . And I know she's been going to his office often after the incident. . . I mean, by Merlin Sirius- he's our age! That's like if she married you or me or- or Wormtail! I mean Severus is the same age as her father would be! How can I, as her father now, but okay with that? With anyone marrying my daughter?"
Sirius chuckled, "I knew you'd be a good dad Remus. You'll figure it out."
The doorbell rang and I stomped down the stairs and opened the door. Sirius had turned back into a dog. Trang stood there with her broom. "Come on in for a second." I said.
"Elizabeth I don't think this is a good idea. . ." Dad said sharply.
"Sirius." I said, ignoring Dad, "Can you please revert to your usual form?"
Sirius stayed a dog and my lips twitched into a smile. "Alright, fine, just turn into a human."
Sirius did as I asked and I turned to Trang who's mouth dropped and then recovered and she said, "That's so cool! Er- who are you?"
"This is my Godfather, Sirius Black." I said.
Trang blinked and then held out her hand to shake it and said, "Cool. Elizabeth's talked about you. I'm Trang Nyguen."
Sirius looked a bit stunned but shook her hand.
"Alright, let's go fly." I said and we turned out of the house. I looked up at the setting sun.
The sun would turn into a night sky and the sky would be filled with stars. Stars, the imprint of people's lives. People who were remembered.
I would remember the boy who gave me my spot on the Quidditch team. I would remember the boy who came and visited me in the hospital wing after the dementors made me faint. I would remember the boy who cared about whether I got enough sleep or ate that day. I would remember the boy who asked me to the ball. I would remember the boy who loved Quidditch and life. I would remember the boy I had kissed good-bye.
I would remember Cedric Diggory.

Year Two: Boy Trouble
Tumblr media
Chapter List WC: 1,507
1st September, 1992
Violet needed this day to end, and she needed it to end ten minutes ago.
From the moment she'd sat down for dinner, she could feel Cedric staring at her. He sat several seats away, with a number of students sat between them, and Violet was thankful for it.
She wasn't as hurt as she had been that afternoon. She was upset, yes, but now she was also mad. She didn't care if he was trying to impress his friends, or was embarrassed about her, he had no right to be so rude. They were Hufflepuffs, for Godrics sake!
So, when she sat down for dinner, she'd made a point of sitting as far from him as she could. Neither Hannah nor Aimee questioned it, but Caroline tried to. Hannah brushed it off with a simple, "boy trouble."
Over the next half hour, as the Great Hall was full of cheers and clapping throughout the Sorting Ceremony, Violet tried her best to focus on the ceremony and the hushed conversations around her. She'd perked up a bit at familiar names, including Ginny Weasley, who was naturally sorted into Gryffindor, and Luna Lovegood, who was sorted to Ravenclaw. She clapped when her house did, even welcoming some of the first-years who came near her to sit with their older siblings.
When dinner was finally served, she tried to make the most of it. As always, the house-elves in the kitchens below made wonderful food. The assortment always varied, from fresh fruits, meats, and breads, even the desserts. She loved everything she ate at Hogwarts, and if it weren't for the amount of walking she did every day, she feared she'd grow several sizes. She wondered if that's why they had classes so far apart in the castle, to encourage exercise?
Halfway through dinner, while half-listening to the conversation between her friends, she looked over to the Great Halls entrance, only to find Professors McGonagall, Snape, and Dumbledore entering, with a sulking Harry and Ron trailing behind them. Her eyes widened slightly, wondering what they possibly could have done on their first night back.
When dinner ended, Violet and her friends were some of the first students to exit when their house did. The Prefects stayed behind to lead the first-years, but the rest of the students went ahead to the dorms.
She knew she was being petty, and even a bit rude, but she pointedly ignored Cedric when he tried to push through the crowd to reach her. Aimee and Hannah tried to get her to speak with him, but she wasn't ready yet. She didn't want to snap at him out of anger or hurt, so she'd wait a day or so, then she'd seek him out. He'd be fine until then.
That night, all four roommates, including Caroline, stayed up well into the evening. They were excited for classes to begin, even though they were stuck taking the same subjects as the previous year, minus flying lessons. The one good thing out of it, Violet argued, was that they at least knew where their classes were and what professors they would have.
Just as she was last year, she was most excited for Herbology and Defense Against the Dark Arts. She was also glad to have several more free periods, now that she didn't have flying, so that she could have time to focus on her homework and studying.
━━━━━━⊱༻ ༺⊰━━━━━━
2nd September, 1992
The next morning, Violet was thankful she had a free period. She woke up feeling out of sorts. She was beyond tired, as she had a fitful night, and she felt guilty for her childish behavior the night before. Granted, she was a child at twelve years old, but still.
Fourth-year Hufflepuffs had classes all morning, so she didn't get the chance to speak with Cedric after breakfast. She didn't get the chance to speak with him at breakfast either, as she had overslept and barely made it down in time to eat before the food vanished. She did, however, have a quick talk with her friends.
"I think you should keep ignoring him. The puppy eyes he has for you? Adorable. Never let him stop." Caroline giggled, her cheeks tinged the lightest shade of pink.
Aimee rolled her eyes, "Merlin, Caroline, if you fancy him, why don't you ask him out?"
"I don't fancy him!" Caroline argued, "I just think he's cute."
"I feel bad. He was probably trying to apologize, and I ignored him. Oh, I'm such a hypocrite!" Violet groaned, pushing away her empty plate to drop her head onto the table. Her next words were muffled through the wood, "I was mad because he ignored me, so I ignored him. Stupid!"
"Well, when you put it like that..." Hannah hummed sympathetically.
"Lunch. I'll find him at lunch and apologize."
"Good plan. I'm going to meet up with Susan, see you in a bit for Transfiguration!" Caroline threw her bag over her shoulder before taking off out of the Great Hall.
Hannah took off next, "I've got to go too, I promised a Ravenclaw second-year I'd help him review a bit before class. Bye!"
Aimee stood up slowly, assessing her friend, "I think I'll head to the library. You coming?"
"Maybe in a while. I want to be alone for a bit, okay?"
"Okay. You know where to find me!"
Violet accepted a hug from her friend before she was alone. Most of the hall had emptied, students getting to their classes or off doing their own thing. Her solitude didn't last long, though.
"Ellis."
She stifled a groan at the hiss of her name. "What do you need, Malfoy?"
She stood from the bench, slinging her bag over her shoulder to leave. His sharp glare stopped her in her tracks.
"Think you hold some sort of power of me, do you?" He kept his voice level, but his tone was dripping in venom, "That stunt on the train? Know this, if you ever try telling me what to do-"
Violet couldn't help it, she laughed. It was a short, quick burst of laughter, but enough to silence the blond in front of her.
"Sorry," She waved a hand through the air, "Sorry, it's just, you think you can hurt me? What'll you do, tell your daddy on me? You want to have it out with Harry, fine, that's none of my business."
She paused briefly as she took in the curious look on his face, "What? The whole school knows you have it out for him. You don't exactly make it secret. You're a cruel, rude person, but you won't do anything to me. You use your spells, and your words, but see, I have the greatest power of all; I. Don't. Care."
She moved towards the exit, pausing when she was stood next to him. He was sneering at her, an expression that was likely going to freeze his features forever if he didn't stop using it.
"You can't bully me into fearing you, Draco, because I know who you are." He flinched back, looking struck, "You're a scared little boy with a bully for a father. You try to bully others to feel stronger than them, but you're still one of us. Just another sad, lonely wizard, trying to find where he fits in."
She continued walking, having to force herself not to look back at him. She felt better after letting off so much steam, but a prickle of guilt nagged at her. It wasn't like she'd lied, everything she said was true. She told herself the guilt was from taking out her frustration on the boy, but she couldn't stand to be bullied.
Once, a few years prior, she had shown up to school with her white stockings torn and dirty, and her skirt and shirt had a few smudges of dirt as well. She had fallen on her way into the school, as she'd been trying to skip and tripped over a hole in the ground.
She'd already been upset when she realized her stockings were ruined, but a boy in her class held no pity for her. He called her names for the rest of the day, saying she was poor and telling other kids she was homeless. Childish bullying, but it upset her enough that she went home crying.
When she explained what happened to her mum, she hadn't expected such a meaningful response. Her mother told her almost exactly what she'd just told Draco Malfoy. It was then, at the young age of nine, that Violet learned that bullies used violence as their armour. Because, more often than not, bullies were just people going through something, but didn't know how to handle it, so they took it out on someone else.
It wasn't right, and it wasn't fair, but she couldn't change someone else's life, she could only show them a touch of kindness and hope they changed for the better. So yes, she felt bad for taking her problems out on the boy, but she reminded herself that she'd do better next time.

Not trying to defend Rowling or Snape, but I do think it should be said that Rowling has outright stated that Snape isn't really a good person on a personal level. But that he was also instrumental in stopping Voldemort personally regardless, and it seems to me (after digging out my ancient copies of the books) that he didn't really buy into the whole "wizard superiority" nonsense for too long, but by the time he realized it wasn't really what he wanted it was far too late to just not be a part of it without risking his own life.
And he still did go out of his way to go against them, even after Lily died. I think he probably would have gone against them just as fiercely if Neville had been the chosen one, if only out of revenge and penance for what happened to her (which he was partially responsible for).
The situation in the books at least actually rather parallels indoctrination of minors into these supremacist groups IRL; Snape only got into it because he was a social outcast and was easily convinced because he was constantly mistreated by his peers. Ironically, he was a half-blood wizard himself. They only had him join their ranks because he was really good at making potions and had the ire for others necessary to use dark magic.
I need to clarify again, I'm not really a fan of Snape period, but Lily once again misses the entire point of him. She sounds like one of the mega Snape fangirls from back in the day.
If she wants him to be a better person, she could probably do it without downplaying the shit he was involved with.
"if only out of revenge and penance for what happened to her (which he was partially responsible for)."
that part right there is why i have a problem with how snap was written. if the only scenario where you can imagine him changing sides and actively working to try to take down magic fascist leader is one where his love interest gets punished for it, then i can't really believe that he has any real convictions of his own. if harry's mom was never affected by the war, if she got to live a long and normal life with her family, would snape still change? or he would stay there where just has to do enough to keep himself alive? because what is me, i can't picture him doing anything like that.
about rowing herself and her words... those words really don't mean much when she was the one who decided to immortalize snape as the "bravest man i have known" by naming one of harry's child as him. this is the biggest point of conflict in the fandom regarding snape that i have seen. that on one hand rowing tell us that he is not that good of a person and was flawed, but at the same time fully endorse snape being rewarded even better than many other characters who were never nazis, never abused any children and were also fundamental during the war.
when in text all he did was not say a slur after his love interest says it was a bad word and tell harry his life story at the last second. he never had to make amends, he never had to show anyone his change, he never had to compensate for the harm he had done. he just dies. on itself this is fine but it's ruined by the ending. i don't mind snape existing by himself, but he did not deserve that kind of tribute to be part of the last words we'd ever see about the story. for a better example of someone who is not a perfectly good person, but does tries to do good and legitimately tries to do better because they believe is the right thing, sirius black was right there. he was full of flaws and he still tried, for better or for worse, not because of someone but because that's what he believed.
i can see why people like him and i might even understand why LO does too. but the fact remains that he wasn't just a good or bad guy, that he could have been written better, and you need to talk about all of his facets, including the magic nazism and abusive tendencies, instead of pretending they weren't a big deal or don't exist at all, if you even attempt to look at this franchise critically.

what if instead of Harry calling his child Albus Severus, instead he calls him Albus Regulus?
i can see Harry being blinded against Dumbledore’s wrongdoings so theres a pretty big chance that Albus would probably be somewhere in his name
But Snape had been a dick to Harry, his friends and pretty much everyone since he stepped foot into Hogwarts, so Harry would definitely not give his child any association to him
I like to believe that after the war, Harry decided to do a little research into the Black family (just cause). In doing so he learns about Regulus and everything he did and decides to name his second child after him
It could go either way as well tbh
Albus Regulus Potter or Regulus Albus Potter
thoughts?
I've noticed that a lot of people have that headcanon, but I personally don't see it. 🤷
I definitely think Albus Severus is a terrible choice, and Harry should never have named his child after those men, but I really don't think he'd name his son after Regulus either.
If we're being realistic, it makes more sense for Harry to name his son after Remus, Hagrid, or even Arthur instead.
Thanks for the ask! 😊

Even If Rowling had decided not to have Harry name his child after Snape, Harry would not have named his kid after Regulus, Regulus was a voldermort fanboy, who Harry never meet and only made Harry task harder. Hagrid,Dobby,Cedric or tonks to list a few, would of been better options for Harry to name his kids after.
I agree, like who (in their right mind) thinks he should name his son after a mf he ain’t even know…that’s weird. And stupid. Especially considering, like you said, he was a Voldemort fanboy
Imagine if he named his kid after Cedric…my Hedric heart would explode
Explode I tell ya’

Trigger warning: Mentions of abuse and neglect. Character Death (or character is dead).
Harry Potter loves writing. He is especially fond of stories of adventure, of a child being loved and saved by strangers or even unknown creatures so that they could take them to faraway lands full of things that can only exist in his dreams.
He writes of children fighting their monsters, with these strangers and/or creatures on their side, supporting them in their every choice and whim. He beautifully describe the emotions of every single beings in the story, detailing how this action makes the others feel and how it makes the protagonist feel. He hums as he uses similes and metaphors that may sound weird to others that would read it.
But to people like him who's childhood is... rather sad (that is one way to describe it), it makes all the sense. Which is why when Severus Snape found his compilation of stories, the man instantly knew how wrong he was of him.
He is not arrogant, nor was he an attention-seeker. Harry Potter is a child that desperately wants to be saved from his cupboard under the stairs, away from the monsters that should supposedly care for him.
And if the man marched towards the Gryffindor Head of House, demanding to know if the woman knew, then he could only be happy.
"I-I... Severus, I have told Dumbledore that they were the worst sort! But the man insisted that they were the boy's only chance to live!" He could say that he have lived in a way. He lived through his writings, he lived through his imagination, of adventures that he could take, and of imaginary people that would save him. They never came though, and the only ones closest on being those people are dead as well.
Just like him.
"We should have done something. We should have not let this happen." He smiled, happy that at least he got some confirmation that these people, maybe the only adults that he have trusted, would have done something to get him out of that house. He watched as Professor McGonagall broke down in tears, being cradled by the man that he has had mixed feelings with.
Snape is no saint, but he is no devil either.
"Come on pup, time to go." He turns around smiling at Sirius and Remus. Yes, paradise is waiting for them; his parents are waiting for them. He is set out for a new adventure with the people who saved him, but the best thing? They are no strangers.
And if his books were published to the public, and that the Hogwarts' policies of new students having to undergo a general check up every start and end of the year was named after him, then he certainly is satisfied.
No one else would suffer the same fate as him and many others before him; bleeding away slowly until the wounds kill them (or either permanently affect them). All because he found a way to be free, even if it's just in writings.

Regulus Black was a guy in his early twenties with curly black hair and stormy grey eyes. He used to attend a private school in Scotland, one that only accepted the most special students. You could say that the experience itself was magical. However he longed for someone who’s jokes he could laugh at, who didn’t mind him being quiet, who understood his humour and who would see through his icy exterior to who he really was. I guess you could say Regulus wanted someone who was just right.

I was curious, what are your opinions on Severus Snape? Because I know you like Draco (and I love the way you draw him btw). My personal opinion of Snape isn’t a positive because even though Snape was abused as a child, he got out of that environment and he still
a) refused to give up on a woman that didn’t want him and
b) joined a group of wizard blood supremacists and only changed sides when it didn’t help him and
c) routinely abused kids to the point that Neville, whose parents were tormented to insanity (I’m iffy about that term but I’m not sure what else to use) by Bellatrix, was still more terrified of Snape.
Of course you can feel free to disagree, I just wanna hear your thoughts
Hey, thanks! My opinions pretty much align with yours. I don't really like the guy if I'm being honest (it doesn't bother me if others do like him, do what u want)
My main problem with him is that he's a grown adult who uses his power over his students to bully them. Yes, I'm sorry you had a bad childhood and your school life wasn't the best either, that's horrible. No child should ever have to experience things like that. I stop feeling bad for him as an adult because he should know better.
He's out of his abusive situation and now he wants to take it out on kids who had nothing to do with his childhood. Snape is 32 years old at the start of the books and in comparison I'm 28. I also had a shit childhood, I was also bullied and have faced racism. I also have the experience in teaching children for a few years now. Never in a million years would I take out any of that on my students, ever. I know as an adult that the way I was treated wasn't normal and I need to do better so children don't feel the way I did with adults at their age.
I like that you bring up Lily because that's another point about him I dislike. He only ever did anything for Harry because he loved Lily and not because it was the right thing to do.
The fact that Neville finds him so terrifying is VERY telling about his character. I won't ever relate to the quote "always" and I will never like the fact that Harry named his kid after this man.

i was going through blogs and saw an old hp meta and i mostly respect that person's opinion so i went back and reread the last 2 books and that was fun and now i have so many feeling i need to let them out
-the main one is that i don't hate snape? like he's an asshole for bullying kids but after seeing his entire life flash before my eyes there was no room for anything but pity. mind you not the aw poor bb pity but the damn life really is a bitch and then you die. like your family's shit and you're ugly and everyone hates and you can't let go so you end up perpetuating the abuse cycle and there's no redemption. you failed, the end. kinda amazing tbh that she wrote him like that i.e a brave dude who managed to do the right thing after he ruined everything but also a thoroughly unpleasant human being till the end.
p.s: is he even a bad teacher? most of his students pass, his detention is scrubbing pots and he makes mean girls tier remarks. Meanwhile the good guys send children to the forbidden forest and expose them to dangeorus animals without protection lmao
+ the always~ line is overused and criiiinge just like the ship itself. The real goat line is ''And my soul? Mine? It cut me deeply cause i was also dumbledore's (wo)man's through and through and i didn't care about his hitler boyfriend and his secrets and i even went as far as to make a note in the book (the only note) to plead with harry not to doubt him. and he was the only thing remotely close to a friend snape had cause he was the ony one who knew the truth but he did use him cause he wanted to save harry and the world and even fucking draco and it just sucks, it all suuuucks
++and it's not like draco got a redemption, his entire family was dogshit and still got away with everything. i felt this so hard cause thanks to churchil the nazi collaborators in my country never got their comeuppance so their descendants also hold positions of power now and keep eroding our democracy
+++still can't believe the one that got rehabilitated was kreacher, like i hated him so much for sirius but hermione was kinda right. and it was so sad when he must have waited and waited for them to show up and eat that kidney pie
-i remember i hated how my precious perfect hermione ending up with he's just ron but this time i didn't care much. his rapid fire cool AND considerate moments in the battle were very forced in my opinion and a little too little too late but eh whatever as long as she's happy.
+i think it's cause as a kid i wanted her with harry but now he was kinda annoying, idk he can be a pretty annoying kid. i mean it makes sense considering what the poor child had to got Through. But also he's basically the messiah with his love spiel and dying for everyone and i'm sitting here with my hurt cheek and a core that craves a proportionate justice that doesn't exist.
btw i'll never understand people who still complain about albus severus. it's a shit name to be sure but if you spend 7 years with harry it should be obvious this is a 200% in character thing to do.
++adulthood is realising krum was the best and deserved better and we deserved better instead of unrepentant asshole malfoys
-i still hate ginny and molly. molly was poor but had seven kids and the only one who would always get the short end of the stick was ron. it was just so pitiful with the wand, and the cloak and the rat. and she was so obsessed with being harry's mom she got pissed at sirius for being the cool dad (dude had his issues too obviously but they should have met in the middle) and she thought the sun shined out of harry's ass so she froze a teen girl she knew cause of something she read in the Sun. Kinda hated how she got the bella kill too
ginny went from nobody to best at hexing AND sports AND doesn't cry AND she's so hot everyone wants her and lmao what kind of cardboard dating game self-insert is this? Her sense of humour has asuch a mean streak too. And the way they treated fleur argh I felt like i was in an aita about the stereotypical evil mil and sil. and the people who say it was mutual cause fluer was snob? yeah she was and i ripped her one too when she looked down on my favorite chaotic magic murderschool but they weren't bullying her because of that? they were being mean cause they were jealous she was beautiful and men went gaga, because they thought that meant she was shallow and of course she wasn't good enough for their son/bro
and the trashiest thing was when they made fun of accents. these people who only knew english and had never tried learning any other languages! like come on dude
-i had forgotten how hedwig dies aaaaaaa i still can't believe it was so fast and then nothing it still hurts...

Harry Potter Headcanon: Being Harry Potter’s Twin Would Include:
masterlist
requested by: @luvlesabyy
a/n: not really happy with this but hope you enjoy nonetheless :)
Tumblr media
annie lily potter, is what i imagine your name to be…
harry would be born minutes earlier and hold it over your head for eternity
‘i’m older than you so i should decide.’
harry is a copy and paste version of james except for his mothers eyes, whilst you look exactly like lily with james’ eyes
the day of voldemort’s return, harry got the scar on his forehead whilst he targeted your eye
hence why you got a small bolt like scar across your eye (it looks cool)
voldemort didn’t know which child would fulfill the prophecy so he targeted you both
when both of your parent’s died that night you were set out on your uncle’s doorstep
you both grew up with uncle vernon, petunia, and dudley
which was literally the worst time of your life
whilst harry slept under the stairs, you were forced to sleep on the couch every night
most of your childhood was spent cleaning the house
and when that one letter arrived your whole life changed
you remember walking through diagon alley with hagrid and harry, looking at all the unfamiliar things that were kept away from you
hagrid bought you your first pet which was a black cat
you were literally over the moon
when you met hermione one the train whilst hunting down the food trolley you were skeptical at first but came around quick to like her
you, harry, ron, and hermione got along quick and shared the way to the great hall where you were sorted into your houses
all of you made gryffindor which all made you very happy
and your face when you had your first feast at the sorting ceremony…
your face was priceless
hogwarts felt like home to you the second you set foot in the castle
but the fact that every year something was trying to kill you or harry felt very odd
you’re very daring and brave, taking shit from absolutely no one
stupid question? you’ll get a stupid answer
you never understood why snape hated harry so much but was more lenient of you
took you three years to figure it out
you’re very good at spells and have all of them memorised, from pronunciation to wand movement
when professor lupin joins hogwarts you instantly had a connection
and when you find out about the drama with lupin, sirius, and peter pettigrew, you feel like your trust has been broken
after lupin leaves hogwarts you’re still in touch with him and decided to move into his place
he buys you all your school supplies etc.
during the triwizard tournament you befriend fleur seeing her sitting alone after the second task
you comfort her and tell her that it’s all right
when she leaves with the rest of the school she placed a crumpled piece of paper in your hand with her phone number
and a few years later you attended her wedding
when snape takes over the school you go into hiding, you weren’t embarrassed to be a half blood but you wanted to survive to tell the story
the battle of hogwarts is a night you really don’t want to think about
but at the end everything worked out and your alive and well

not to get into the Great Name Debate again but whenever someone suggests people harry could have named albus severus after instead of dumbledore and snape, it's always like. so obvious WHY he didn't pick those particular names. "he could have named him after remus!" teddy's middle name is literally remus. already taken. "what about fred?" i'm pretty sure it was an unspoken agreement amongst the weasleys that george would get to name any potential kid of his after fred, which he did. "what about sirius?" james sirius is harry's firstborn son. try again. "regulus?" why would harry name his child after some guy he didn't even know? regulus helped them out that ONE time.
Tumblr media
hthe arguments about this is are the stupidest bullshit i've ever seen and i say that as a longtime snape fan lmao. it's like some of these people have never seen a narrative arc in their fucking lives and have chosen to actively forget that hp is a there's a book.
there's a REASON harry names his kid after dumbledore and snape. these are people who arguably committed some pretty heinous damage against him in different ways - dumbledore literally raised him as a sacrifice. snape was cruel to him many times over. choosing to name his kid after them is an act of forgivness so in line with harry's values and character it's honestly fucking wild to me that people still complain about it to this day. yes, of course harry would name his child after people who hated or used him. harry forgiving them anyway, loving them anyway - that's the core of his character. he's the one who still shakes hands with dudley even after all the shit he put harry through, the one who goes back to save draco, the one who gives narcissa hope about her son, who sees snape being bullied as a teenager and sympathizes. harry recognizing that these are two very flawed men who nonetheless changed him - harry choosing to honor them because he knows no one else will - god how is that a surprise to anyone?
and, even setting that aside, it's not somehow being "ungrateful" for harry to name his kid albus severus instead of, say, regulus. (a dead man harry never fucking met!!!!! who did nothing for him!!!! what the fuck is that argument!!!! HE'S A DEAD MAN HARRY NEVER MET!!!!) i see that argument a lot when people want to say harry should have named his kid after remus or hagrid or something but like you say - remus has his namesake!!! harry wouldn't step on that!!!! and the same goes for fred - of course he's giving that to george's kid!!!! what the fuck!!!!
more to the point... less so for dumbledore (who i imagine inspired at least some albus babies) but who is going to name their kid after snape? who is going to honor snape? snape did so much for the war and for harry - and no one was going to even remember him, not as he should have been remembered. i think harry's choice partly comes from that; remus and fred have people who loved and remember them. hell, so do regulus and hagrid. but snape? if harry doesn't honor his memory, who will?
it's just stupid. people didn't like the name and then they decided to be absolutely insufferable about it. but albus severus was a perfect choice for a name for harry's kid and it IS the hill i will die on.
