Always rooting for the Anti-Hero  ~ Happy Birthday, Professor Snape
~
A new phoenix-themed robe design for AU postwar/headmaster Snape. After the snake theme, the phoenix theme is my favorite one to include into any robes I draw for him. I think it’s kinda fitting, like one big „f*** you“ directed at the ones who made his life miserable, including the late Dumbledore;
„See this? You were the one with the pet-phoenix, but I’m the one who survived your bullshit-schemes, got your job, my freedom, and the trust and gratitude of the boy you deceived and raised to die.“
Ah yes. The power of fanfiction.
Fun fact: The robe is inspired by a dress Taylor Swift wore for the Reputation stadium tour.
AND I FINALLY DREW HIM WITH DA BLACK NAILPOLISH.

The One Direction ones honestly, well there's two things… I have like certain songs that I like more than others in the One Direction stuff but then.. what's been a challenge at times is... let's just take maybe the cheesiest of our songs, right, let's just take a What Makes You Beautiful- you kinda have to do that as it was, I couldn't reinvent that and make it [huge air quotes] "cool," I don't really think it exists in a cool realm or something like that you know it's a slightly different thing
--Louis talking about maybe adding a different 1D song to the set for the upcoming tour leg

For your eight nights of Drarry event, what about “I get drunk on jealousy.”
Tumblr media
Drunk on Jealousy
And for the finale of Eight Drarry Nights 2023, I am honored to write this for @xx-thedarklord-xx. Sam, I hope you know by now just how much I love your work. Apologies that this is so late. It's been a rough week (shoutout to my discord friends for the sweet support! You guys are amazing). But I wanted to give this proper time, which I haven't had until now. So, without further ado, here we go! And, of course, Happy (belated, now) Hanukkah.
Featuring: a secret relationship, possessive!Harry, and a Draco who is determined to drive Harry crazy—in the best way—until he snaps.
At this point, I'm starting to think the pint in your hand is just for show. You've hardly touched it. I'd wager you're entirely sober.
You come to pub nights with our colleagues, every other Friday, yet you hardly drink anymore. Would you be surprised that I've noticed? When have I not noticed you, Potter?
I've seen you watching me. You're not being very subtle; if you want to keep this a secret, you're going to have to tear your eyes away from my arse. Not that I want you to, mind you. I always want your eyes on me.
Have you caught on to my game yet? You're an ex-Auror. Use your talents of deduction. I flit and flirt my way through the pub, talking to everyone but you, but it's always your bed I come back to, isn't it? Meanwhile, you stew and scowl and glare at me from the corner of the pub as if you don't know the foregone conclusion.
Silly Potter. There's an easy way to get me to end this; a quick, surefire solution to this self-inflicted torture. You'd just have to march over here with that big, tough Chosen One bravado, scoop me into your arms, and kiss me the way you usually do when no one's around. No one else would dare touch me again, and we'd finally be free from sneaking around. Win-win.
But you're trying to be a gentleman. You're trying to "give me my space" and let me bring our relationship out of the proverbial closet when I'm ready. It's admirable; very touchy-feely-sweet-Gryffindor of you.
But I've had enough. I'm ready for more. I'm sure you'd say that I could simply tell you. But where's the fun in that? It's much more entertaining for me to see you get all worked up, jaw clenching with every smirk I throw your way as I talk and laugh and flirt with other men.
Tonight, though, I think you've finally realized. Or, at least, you're going to lose it. I'm talking to—what did he say his name was? Greg? Thomas? I'm not sure, but it won't matter in a moment. You're gripping that pint like it's personally offended you; I'm almost afraid it's going to shatter in your hand.
From the corner of my eye, I see you all but slam it on the table, the drink sloshing a bit over the rim. While the rest of the pub is too rowdy to notice, your tablemates startle and look at you with alarm. But you're glaring at me. I just deepen my smirk and raise my eyebrow at you.
You rise from your seat, letting your chair fall over behind you, and stride purposefully over to me.
Good.
That's it.
Come and get me.

Something about this interaction between Harry & Janeway - specifically Janeway but it's notable that Harry's the one listening because I think, say, Chakotay or B'Elanna might push back against the idolization of this 'it was different back in those days' way of thinking.
#Get the Tranq she's 'Good Old Boys'-ing!#never beating the Starfleet stooge accusations#which I think should have been brought up more between her and Chakotay#instead of just making Chakotay like Starfleet again so they can be together#the Tuvok/Chakotay/Janeway command trio should have been like#Janeway: I love Starfleet in an uncomplicated way and though it's painful sometimes I believe following code is the only way to proceed#Tuvok: I agree with the captain and this makes her believe in her decisions more - though I would attempt to obey her commands even if they#weren't regulation.#<- Janeway doesn't want to examine this#Chakotay: I hate Starfleet because of very valid reasons and I don't think following orders and codes from superiors is the best thing#in every situation. I want everyone here to examine their biases which cannot necessarily be done if biases are written into the#codes. We aren't in Starfleet space. We might have to adapt.#but it's nowhere near that nuanced bc you know. Starfleet Good. Starfleet Good. Starfleet Good. Maquis Bad. Maquis Bad. Maquis Bad.#Or you know: 'Maquis doing this the WROOONG way...violence isn't the answer :(' maybe violence is the answer sometimes.#when it's the only language the people in power understand.#maybe 'let's talk about this' is an insidious military tactic sometimes actually#Also Harry immediately going from 'They falsified logs?' to 'I always wondered it'd be like back then...~'#He and Janeway................Him and Janeway are!!! AGH#People think Harry's way too timid. They think this because he's asian and an ensign so they make him timid & obedient#But he's very willing to break or bend the rules - he's willing to fight he likes action and adventure and he's very similar to Janeway#where they'll both die and go to hell and come back just to save their crew - their friends - their family

Rant about Harry Potter and JK Rowling, stick with me here
Ok, so, I hate JK Rowling. I feel like that's a given, right? Like, she's a transphobic homophobic bigot who hides behind feminism and routinely denies massive parts of the holocaust, and I despise her in ways that I don't think words can even express. I can't stand her, but y'know what I also can't stand?
When someone implies that my mother, who is one of the most supportive people I know, and a massive part of the founding, organization, and actions of a local group made specifically to fight Moms for Liberty and school boards in our area trying to harm trans and queer people, is transphobic because she likes Harry Potter
Wanna know why my mom likes Harry Potter? Because when she discovered the series at 12 years old, she quite literally lived in a cupboard under the stairs and was in an abusive household. The magic of the wizarding world or whatever was her escape, it's the reason she's still alive, and by extension, the reason I was ever alive.
But, sometimes, not even often, when I try to express even the most minimal amount of appreciation of that, someone says to me "but isn't JK Rowling transphobic? Why would you support someone like that? Are you transphobic?"
Which pisses me off beyond belief, as one might imagine
In this situation, "separate the art from the artist" isn't exactly a good phrase to use, given the fact that the goblins or whatever run the bank are Jewish stereotypes and the house elves generally being happy to work under their masters being a straight rip from the whole happy slave myth, and those are very very important things to recognize and understand, among others
I feel like it's a lot closer to "separate the hundreds if not thousands of lives she's helped from the hundreds if not thousands of lives she's ruined", or even better, understand that the good she's indirectly done for people makes all the bad that much more horrid
My mother is the closest thing to a hero in this entire world and I will not stand to hear one more person accuse her of being transphobic purely because she thinks fondly of a book series that saved her life. I will not stand for people saying she's just as bad as a holocaust denier because she owns every book in the series. I will not stand for anyone going entirely against their point of not judging a group as if it's monolithic by saying all Harry Potter fans are bad people, including my mother. And, once again, it's not often at all that this happens, but it happens and I'm pissed about it and needed to rant
Anyways rant over JK Rowling sucks don't believe a single thing she says and don't support her unless you wanna support someone actively trying to make the existence of queer people illegal

Any advice on how to cope with being a crypto in your daily life? Most of my friends, who I love, are normie libfem adjacent types (at least they're not terminally online tumblr furry hentai people thank God) but whenever the conversation turns to trans stuff they politely and nervously repeat the same platitudes and absolutely freeze up in terror whenever they come close to committing a thoughtcrime. Everyone hates JK Rowling as a matter of faith. I'd love to gently push back on some of their attitudes/assumptions, especially as I think they'd be amenable to some radical feminist ideas, but I'm also terrified of them seeing me as irredeemably bad and evil. They all think I think the same as they do because i'm a leftist, feminist, not their idea of a mean hateful bogeyman TERF.
Ngl I have the same issue too to some extent. I think the best we can to is when difficult conversations like jkr come up, just keep asking why. Not in a confrontational way, but kinda like you genuinely don’t understand. It might help them think about the ‘whys’ a bit more themselves if they have to explain it to someone else. Because this entire thing is based on assumptions and no one ever bothers to ask themselves seriously why

Are there any characters that you think could be removed from the game without much of an impact on the story overall?
there's plenty of characters you could remove without making much of an impact on the actual plot of the game (cuno's dad, rene and gaston, easy leo, roy, call me manana, measurehead & the gang, idiot doom spiral & gang, neha, the paledriver, smoker on the balcony, sunday friend, and on and on) but in terms of substance, no, i really can't think of a single character who didn't enrich the world in some way. half the story of disco elysium isn't the plot itself but you getting to know the world of elysium. remember that this game was in large part intended to be an introductory exposition-dump game for a broader series set in the world, before the whole za/um fraud debacle. all of the extra characters are there to play a role in the experience whether it's to advance the plot, introduce something about the setting, help expose something about harry, or set a mood in a given scene or area. to me, the quality of every single side character and the no-waste approach to interactions is a huge defining factor in why disco elysium is as good as it is.

I don't think some wot book fans understand that I just wouldn't be interested in the show if it did a lot of the things they want. No value judgement (everyone likes different things), but some book fans want to change how show fans perceive the show. They want us to perceive it exactly as they do, and that's just not how it would work for me. I either just wouldn't be watching the show or I'd be wishing it explored the aes sedai and their warders more because that's the kind of thing I'm interested in. You can't make everyone think the same way you do.

As much as I enjoy the Pagan Purebloods trope and all that fun stuff, I really don’t understand the assumption it wouldn’t make sense for Wizards to celebrate Christmas etc.
The Statute of Secrecy didn’t come into being until the 1600s, at which point Britain was pretty thoroughly Christianised. If we follow the canon claiming that the Wizarding and Muggle societies were pretty integrated beforehand, we’d expect Wizards to not only follow general Christian customs but also have strong opinions on Catholicism vs Protestantism by the time their society actually started evolving semi-independently from the Muggles.
