in case you were wondering how things went down at the pokemon world championships this weekend:

-during the top 8 of the TCG masters division, chilean player fernando cifuentes was running a gimmick deck that consisted exclusively of four iron thorns ex and a whole ton of control-focused trainer cards in a strategy that either completely shuts down opponents or shits the bed entirely

-through skillful play and some good luck, fernando made it through 2 days in a tournament with over 1100 players to get to the quarterfinals

-fernando lost 2-0 to ian robb, who was running regidrago vstar (widely considered one of the best decks in the current format)

-in an overexuberant victory celebration, ian did what can only be described as a jacking-off gesture, on a stream with tens of thousands of viewers run by a company with very firm player conduct expectations

-the judges determined that this warranted a penalty of game loss, but for some reason, rather than applying it to ian’s next game in the semifinals, they applied it to the one he had just won in the top 8

-(it should be noted that the prize money for making top 8 is $15k while top 4 is $20k, so this jerking gesture cost ian robb $5,000)

-nearly an hour after fernando came to terms with his loss and the end of an impressive run, he was told that he was to get back on stream because he’s now playing in the semifinals due to winning by default

-the player he was up against in the semifinals was playing a deck (miraidon) that happens to get shut down hard by iron thorns’s gimmick, so fernando wins the semifinals

-said player, jesse parker, had notably had an undefeated run throughout the whole tournament up to this point, and likely would have continued that streak had his intended semifinal opponent not gotten a game loss penalty for miming a lewd act on stream

-meanwhile, the other semifinal winner is japan’s seinosuke shiokawa, running a deck (roaring moon) that players had largely written off as underwhelming months ago

-the grand finals are on the following day, so saturday evening was abuzz with a lot of people baffled by the absurdity of the situation

-come sunday afternoon, the grand finals are set to begin, with fernando cifuentes running iron thorns and seinosuke shiokawa running roaring moon

-it should be noted here that the roaring moon deck doesn’t rely very much on abilities, so iron thorns’s gimmick has very little effect - this is basically an even matchup

-fernando wins the first game of the set, and seinosuke wins the second

-the third and final game of the set is a bonafide cheek-clencher, with both players reaching a state where a single KO will win the game, but fernando manages to clinch it at the last minute

-and that’s the story of how a guy pretending to jork it led to the first instance of a pokemon world champion who also lost the quarterfinals

Supervisor who is supposed to take me home- leaves not even half-way through the shift

Supervisor who I was told would take me home instead- no idea where he is

I hate this so much. My learning permit expires in April and I have limited days off unless I take my PTO in May. But I wanted to take it in March this year. I made kind of a deal with a coworker in a different department but forgot to ask for his number so we could get things figured out and make sure he has a license and insurance so I’ve been waiting to do that and he’s been busy or not available. If my brother was able to drive I could just have him come get me.

I’ve been done with the shift for half and hour. If it takes any longer I WILL WALK HOME.

#absolutely ridiculous #and then it took the supervisor who has been driving me to and from work a grand total of 6 HOURS to respond to my text yesterday #I sent it at 2:40pm #he called me between 7-8:00pm #it does not take that long #it’s a simple ‘yes or no’ question #yes you can drive me to work in the morning #or no you can’t #not that hard #and then the main supervisor made me cry again and I got flashbacks of my previous job + those people AND my mom’s nasty fugly ex husband #there was nowhere to put the excess and everyone could clearly see that #yet he almost runs over to me yelling #‘don’t do that don’t do that!’#‘you can’t throw the product away onto the floor!’#1. it wasn’t the floor it was a bin #2. I had nowhere else and I explained it to him but he just got mad again #THEN he asks me if I’m ok #yeah I’m fine #I was just yelled at again while I’m not exactly emotionally stable right now #yes of course I’m fine #I lied and told him I had something in my eye and it was burning #he goes ‘go fix it’#like I’m sorry I didn’t have anywhere to put the fruit #I’m sorry I keep crying over things #I’ve had a rough life #especially the last few years #and the way this guy phrases things is so bad that literally every time he talks to me just like I’m gonna lose my job #i mean who has been told ‘I need to talk to you about your performance’ and still had a job to come back to?#his phrasing is just terrible #he didn’t even apologize for yelling

#i had a mini argument fight thing with my friend #and i feel really bad about it #we talked about our childhoods and the child psychiatry journals #and i said that he had a way worse childhood than me and he refuted it saying we both had it bad but in different ways #and my dumb ass goes “at least i had love! your mom gave you money and left you alone and your dad was a severe alcoholic! you had an awful #childhood and mine doesnt compare“#and like. hes been in this horrible family situation and hes cut contact with his mom and siblings and hes severely mentally unwell #he has had exes cut his arm into pieces and hit him and degrade him and everything #he got groomed like i did and i was hit too by my ex but mine didnt actually try to kill me #his ex cut him down the highway lane #and like. yeah my childhood was horrible. yea i was viciously bullied and groomed and raped and assaulted and my parents didnt get it #but my family is normal and never had issues with any addiction and unlike him i never had to hide under the bed because my dad was drunk!!#he was forced to stay up and get wayyy too little sleep at like 8 years old because his mom wanted to have company so she didnt kill herself #i feel really bad for saying he didnt recieve love even if thats what ive heard because this isnt love!! but he loves his dad now #and his grandma took care of him when he was at the psych ward due to sui attempts etc #and im just. i hurt him really bad by just saying like 10 words and i feel so guilty #but he really had one of those childhoods that is so dark youre impressed they're even alive rn #sure i was raped bullied groomed and screamed at for not getting my studies straight #but i knew my family loved me no matter what! even if me and dad were at each others throats due to him not understanding mental illness #none of my family really gets it since most of them are older and thus have the stigma of it being something you dont talk about #but they loved me and i never felt really unsafe except for some times when my dad screamed in frustration but thats understandable!!#my friend had a mom that tried to kill herself every month and left him alone to go live and drink with an abusive man 6/7 days a week #and his dad was an extreme alcoholic that made the whole family afraid and my friend had secret spots to hide when angry drunk #he also got bullied!! and when he was a teen he drank and did drugs!! because his groomer exes and trauma lead to it!!#but all of this is not my place to say #i feel so bad #its not my place to tell him that his childhood was absolutely rancid. im not a professional and i cant say anything about it #im literally just talking out of uneducated opinions and i hurt him really bad by saying he didnt have love as a child #my experiences are so different that i cant compare it to mine in a way that makes me really understand #i feel so bad and guilty. and i apologized and bought him a pack of cigs as a sorry gift and talked about it but i cant change the past
