Hi there, as an epileptic person I’m so happy to see your changes to Shadowsight’s character (I was SO disappointed that they removed his seizures!) and that you have a whole section dedicated to it in the medicines overview! It means so much to me to have such genuine representation. The only little note I have is that the technical term for a grand-mal seizure is “tonic-clonic,” not clonic-tonic! Other than that you have some really great and well-researched information ^^

Oh shoot, I didn't realize the order was important! Can you tell me why it should be tonic-clonic and spelling it as clonic-tonic should be avoided, so I can share?

With Shadowsight and Sorreltail, I did my research by looking at educational not-for-profits and trying to make sure to listen to firsthand accounts of what it's like to have it, so that the portrayal was more based in life than medical journals. I'm pretty sure I have an old post floating around somewhere with a bunch of sources and links, in addition to the herb guide you saw.

It really is such a shame they did that with Shadowsight specifically :/ you're not the first to pass through thanking me for putting his epilepsy back. I was recently revisiting the earlier books of TBC to answer an ask (ballooned into an essay) and, man, seeing all the setup, with what I know now, utterly wasted is just devastating.

What I mean is, in Book 1, they're describing his auras from his perspective and how there IS a difference between his seizure-visions and his Ashfur-visions. They're establishing that he DID always have epilepsy, it's just ASHFUR that's new. That was a MAJOR hint that something was wrong! The epilepsy was always part of him, but the possessions weren't!

But then, in Book 4, the team unceremoniously decides that no, it was Ashfur all along. Even the seizures. GoodBYE epilepsy! It was literally just a magic spirit.

Though the "seizures give visions" trope is a bit problematic on its own (like "Blind Seer"), I feel like it's even worse to set up representation, and then just yank it away midway through an arc. Like they couldn't just have him lose the visions but keep the seizures.

Frustrating. But, well, this is MY kitchen and I get to decide the disability rep.

I'm thinking about EAH putting on an "event", perhaps a charity ball type thing, where there are students from any class attending (because you don't not invite certain important people lest they choose to curse you and your baby) but it's still graded on the basis of performance counting towards extra credit in various subjects (dance, wooing, princessology, etc).

Only you don't choose your own partner.

It's a bit like the teachers pairing you up for a group project with other people in the class, but the metric they are using to decide who gets partnered with who is based on the Ballroom Dance portion of the evening. As your ideal Ballroom partner is meant to be the same or similar height to you (you're supposed to be able to see over their shoulder, though generally the person being spun should also be short enough to go under the arm).

Which is where ship pairings come in.

Obviously, as a Dexven shipper I'm thinking about Dexter and Raven being around the same height. Maybe they were paired up together originally and Dexter had to do some smooth talking to stay paired up with Raven because someone balked at the idea of placing Raven with a Prince Charming (especially when his extra credit class is Advanced Wooing), or maybe he was originally paired with Duchess but Duchess made a fuss of some sort about Dexter being a bad dancer in the practice dance they had and Raven gets defensive (jealous) and does a practice dance with Dexter to "prove" that Duchess is the problem (inadvertently earning extra credit points for one of her villain classes for stealing someone else's prince) and getting paired with Dexter instead(I think that one would need a meaner-than-canon Raven given she'd be roleplaying a villain part to even do that in the first place, as the Prince dances and professes his love to someone who is not the Swan Princess in Swan Lake. Poor Duchess).

Meanwhile, Apple is having a crisis of her own because she and Daring aren't height matched and that's just feeding into her preexisting insecurities about her looks as she believes it implies she's not good enough for her role if she doesn't match her Prince Charming. Like maybe the two of them did get paired together anyway for that reason and Apple is still a little short despite that and whatever heels she's already wearing.

Or maybe they didn't get a chance to try as Apple and Darling get paired together since EAH has more girls than boys. And Darling gets to play the part of Prince Charming comforting the upset princess, and slowly falling in love, while Apple is perhaps too caught up in "destiny" to realise that she might not be straight (or rather rejects the few glimpses she does have during the dance when she does let herself have some fun because she's too scared by the fact she doesn't know how taking that chance at happily-ever-after would turn out).

would you think there's a possibility that yuri would discover our resident spy's real identity?

i think so, but maybe not now? I think it's still too early in the story for Yuri to discover Loid's real identity but I think it will eventually get to that part little by little. Like, maybe, just maybe, if Twilight gets shot (non-fatal but deep enough to take time to heal) in this arc (by yuri or maybe by the reinforcement SSS sent) and after this mission, Yuri visits the Forgers house to spend time with Yor or babysit Anya and then he notices Loid's gun wound at the exact parts where Twilight was shot, he'll probably gets suspicious and will dig deeper to connect the dots. I can see it like that.

Yuri is pretty smart, and he has strong intuition as we saw in the new chapter, it might be because he and Yor both lived in the mountains, so if this happens I'm sure he will figure it out little by little

The other week i had a friend ask me essentially what the appeal of Gortash was and the experience was embarrassing, humbling, illuminating, devastating.

I am always delighted to explain why i like a character who is honestly kind of atrocious (love me an asshole, love me a villain etc) but ngl 80% of the appeal of Gortash to me is the durgetash dynamics and the rich potential for horrifying, romantic, gross, gorey, loving, tragic, expansions of canon implications. And i truly truly truly feed off the stuff my fellow enjoyers come up with. Its an ecosystem.

This is a house that has been built upon headcanons and character analysis. How these fucked up villains would commit cardinal sins against their respective gods because they like each other so much. How they see see the horrors in each other and not only not flinch, but admire them. And you can take that and do so much with it!!

Kind of reminds me when i was super into venom/eddie and it was bcs fic writers and fellow enjoyers were doing The Work!! They were analysing, they were expanding from canon, they were adding more story and depth etc And thats the beauty of transformative works but the down side is that you can look at canon and be like "Oh yeah i forgot you were bare bones".

Just like how i spoke to Gortash yesterday in-game after not having spoken to him in what was irl weeks and what washed over me was a feeling of "Oh. I have made a feast of crumbs"

Like im sure when i do my durge run, there will be perhaps a decent meal but i am also very aware of how much of this ive built up in my own head

I love how both Yuri in the musical cheer everyone up when they felt nervous or start the stage( one with Fiona and one with one of Anya actors)

Kurumu before 1 week of practicing the musical, he got 2 gifts from 2 Anya actors. One is a origami ring and a origami bunny. So cute 😭💝

Tsubasa also got cuddles by 2 Anya actors in the final day of musical and 1 Anya also gift him an origami 🥺it’s too wholesome 🥺💝

I’m a big fan of Yuri & Anya dynamic so it’s very rare to see his interaction with other characters such as Mr. Elegant, Franky, Anya’s, Fiona and Loid. These twitter photos behind the sence really cheer me up because it’s may not happen in cannon but it’s really what I want to see in the story <3
