I was once again thinking about this goofy Luffy moment after his Lucci punch™ and i had to see it frame by frame.

first the force of it throws them both away, and while Lucci is seen on screen tumbling for a long moment, Luffy is just away in a blink of an eye.

and then his funny scene - his legs are like jelly that he tries to get under control,

he stumbles, falls, rolls into a mix of all his limbs and eyes,

and then only the cloud behind him cushions his fall

- which would be interesting if he can subconsciously control that while he tries to regain the control over his movements - that the environment around him still adapts to his awakened Devil Fruit abilities and morphs to help him. Where others would probably fall through that cloud, for Luffy that cloud backs him up like a trampoline.

It's just fascinating!

#TAGS TLDR YOU CAN NEVER TRULY GO HOME BUT DO YOU WANT TO?#writing a little for d&d and having feelings about this #it was really interesting jasper and i were working on some game mechanics and we kept getting stuck at weird parts and it developed into #this conversation where we realized we experience the world #in such fundamentally different ways. like specifically talking about how paranoia #manifests and stuff but even later in a broader sense like our experiences of time and everything is so different #and they'd be like 'well what if this is something that happened to lock' and id be like 'how could that be something that anyone would #experience' and they were like 'oh because i do'#(example here was my character not realizing he had been magically transported and filling in the blank with vague memories of travel but i #was like. are you not acutely aware of every single moment you are awake and in motion even if it is excruciatingly boring. and jasper #was like. 'oh...no. i could be transported from one place to another and if time passed i wouldnt even think about having traveled or not'#which was WILD to me but then we were like 'okay i guess this cannot be something that happened to lock' because i couldnt even fathom that #but like anyway idk we got weirdly deep dive-y about d&d stuff and personal lives and i had big feelings on it bc genuinely i feel like #there are facets and caverns in myself i have only ever touched in storytelling but particularly in this campaign #and i've joked a lot about Lock and other chars in this game being self inserts #but i mean it in a good way #like the ways we tell stories or experience a world we created together is going to be through an extension of ourselves etc #but it's interesting to me to consider the limitations that brings yknow? we all live by such vastly different sets of rules and #understandings #and im writing out some stuff now and im like. yknow.#lock can never truly go home. i can never truly go home. none of us can ever truly go home #home as shifting impermanence home as transience etc #2017 levi is back apparently but hes always been right

I don’t know what it is about the Jane Austen adaptations I’ve seen recently, but they just have so much trouble sticking the landing.

#i mean #ANY mansfield park adaptation??#especially 1999 but that one has a whole bunch of other stuff wrong with it too #and I almost GET IT because in the book the conclusion *is* very quick #but isn’t the point of an adaptation to expand on what is missing in the book?#also Emma and p&p #both of those books have such good rich things happen after the accepted proposals but the major adaptations just totally gloss over that??#Harriet and Robert meeting again in London! where’s my Emma adaptation that gives me that?!#Lizzy and Darcy being all cute after she accepts him!!!#I really feel like #in a miniseries ideally Darcy’s proposal and knightley’s proposal would both be at the *beginning* of the last episode #not almost at the end of it #because let! the other! things! happen!#let Austen’s storytelling shine!!!#can’t speak for the book in s&s discourse because I never finished it but like. 1995 and 2008 both had lovely endings #it’s not too hard in that sense #but it also is??? apparently? if we’re going by the 1981 #need to watch the 70s one too #AND D O N ‘ T get me started on mansfield park #where ?! C’s the one who’s actually engaged.#anyway I’ve never met C’s fiance and I’ve only met one of her other partners #but I’ve been able to pick up that they all enjoy tabletop #and boardgames #even that alone is something to go off on yknow #in my limited experience of them that’s their defining feature #B’s boyfriend’s defining feature is that he knows how important marriage is to B and has not followed through #I think he plays video games. that’s nothing.#A’s fiance really likes kirby and cats #oh I never had letters for friend with husband #D’s husband has a general ‘nerdy’ media interest but in a way that still gives info #like he’s got opinions and I’ve agreed on several #I couldn’t pick up a gift for him but I can have a place to start #[snaps] that’s it actually #if I have enough to go on to comfortably investigate gifts I feel like they’re an anchored person #A’s fiance? kirby merch.#C’s fiance and partners? Life still ain’t fair to me lately BUT! I do want to at least get part of my sword of the sea brainrot essay out there which also happens to involve my usual Journey brainrot.

I know it’s mostly that I’ve basically become a Journey scavenger at this point, but I do find it highly suspicious that Journey’s name popped up in the trailer under the “visionary artists’ behind” part. because while it’s fairly common knowledge that Giant Squid was formed by employees splintering off of Thatgamecompany after Journey was made, even in GS’s trailers for their first game Abzu, Journey was not mentioned. Nor was Journey mentioned in trailers for The Pathless, just Abzu. But here, in a game that opens up with a Desert and mentions in the summary of “multiple cultures” its name pops up.

Now I’m not going to kid myself, as GS does not own the rights to Journey, that the wayfarers we know and love will just show up as they appear in their own game. However I do suspect that there’s at least going to be some form of them in SotS - whether that’s in a simple easter egg or repurposed designs/structures from old concepts from Journey’s development. I’m honestly not going to expect much.

No matter the slimness of it though, hooo boy does the brain go brrrrrrrrrrr at the thought!
