yeah, the issue isn't wanting the show to have a moral spelled out at the end or even that stol1tz is problematic.

the issue is that the show outright romanticizes its problematic ship - it isn't trying to be some character study of two messed up people without wanting the audience to come to any conclusions. It's blatantly obvious that the show is designed to make the audience think two things:

one: Stolas is only a tiny bit not really flawed and is basically the innocent wronged party in the relationship breakdown and 99% of the problems were caused by Blitzo and his insecurities and selfishness

and two: they actually want us to root for Stol1tz to work out.

and anyone who points out that they have no chemistry or that how Stolas started and continued the whole affair is textbook sexual extortion (something which the show has completely swept under the rug and refused to address) somehow gets accused of being a puritan or having low media literacy? even though critics are ones actually paying attention to the details that suggest stol1tz is a car crash waiting to happen and Stolas has been nothing but babied through the entirety of s2?? make it make sense

absolutely nothing about their duet in mastermind reads ironic, it's all terribly trite and sincere in expecting the audience to think their romance is tragic and moving. there's no reason to think the show is all that interested in exploring the dynamics of a messy relationship because the show outright refuses to meaningfully discuss the worst and messiest part of it except in passing i.e. the transactional deal. ffs, they spent all of apology tour calling Blitzo and Stolas "exes" when they never even dated. the show is outright rewriting its own history solely to avoid talking about the messy stuff because it would make Stolas look bad

also it's incredibly rich that people keep pulling out the "you just want a morality tale where you're told what to think, and that's bad writing!" card when this is literally what apology tour was. the show was outright screaming at the viewer to think that Stolas is the victim, that Blitzo is way worse than s1 had built him up to be and that Blitzo needed to apologize. the whole thing is structured around the moral of Blitzo needing to apologize and Verosika outright saying the point of the episode: "if you wanna change, say good for him (when he runs off to make out with someone else first chance he gets after claiming he loved you)"

I mean Blitzo basically says to the camera "the only reason I rejected Stolas was because the class difference made me insecure and I push away everyone who could care about me". it's incredibly blunt, garbage obvious storytelling

the writing isn't subtle at any other time (cough cough, Stella, cough) but suddenly when it comes fans asking why the writers aren't calling Stolas out for basically any of his shit suddenly the show is treated like some nuanced high art character drama where no one is allowed to openly discuss the sexual extortion shaped elephant in the room.

and it's blatantly not that. the closest helluva ever got to well done storytelling was in s1 and Viv flushed all that down the toilet the minute s2e1 happened

I still find it amazing how my post critisizing the fandom for not knowing what the actual critiques of the show are still holds up today. These are the kinds of fans that pretend that the highest amount of hard-hitting critique for Helluva and Hazbin comes from randos on tumblr when the critisicm these shows get extends far more than just tumblr. If anything, tumblr is less than a FRACTION of the people voicing their issues with the show.

And, if you actually payed attention to discourse surrounding the series on other platforms, mainly youtube....you would find people have far more nuanced critiques than "PROBLAMATIC = BAD!!!".

HELL, Sarcastic Chorus, one of the most popular Youtuers discussing the series, initially liked Stolitz BECAUSE of the problamatic elements, but he stopped carring for it because the show WASN'T ACTUALLY ADDRESSING THEM!!!!

But these fans focus more on trying to strawman critics rather than actually trying to meaningfully engauge with disscussion on the issues with the shows.

Because they can't handle people critisizing their favourite demon show.

this immortality also bounds the soul to the body meaning if someone with this type of immortality were to die theoretically they would literally cease to exist and would both be incapable of being revived and be unable to go to an afterlife

backstory/lore:

back when bakon was five years old his dad worked as a scientist in a lab, one day a immortal killing monster the lab had created broke out and seeked vengence against the scientists but it escaped the lab before it could do that, bakon's dad wanted to get bakon down stairs so he can get bakon to do some chores but the moment he did the monster came bursting out catching his dad off guard and brutally mauling him to death (it was quite graphic) the monster was gonna go after bakon but his mom came in time and used herself as a human shield resulting with her also being mauled to death, in the end it was only bakon left of which the monster attempts to maul him two but bakon manages to get it to back off albeit bakon is injured due to his attempt at blocking the monsters attack, this allowed the monster to attempt to stun bakon down with a tackle but he dodged it and grabbed a kitchen knife and after a whole entire battle, bakon wins but heavily injured and scarred both mentally and physically. bakon then has to bury both the monster and his parents in the back yard of which he obviously was crying but due to his imagination and him not having a clear memory of the event bakon belives it was raining making him associate the rain with bad events and caused him to hate it. after burying his parents bakon had to survive on his own and within three years he has completely changed as he became more serious and had an adult-like mindset and behavior and being more mature, he also was more morally grey as he started to resort to stealing the wallets of the random people that picked fights with him but eventually one day he met Mr rimoman whom claimed to know his dead father and gave him the promise of a better life in a better world only if bakon temporarily became rimoman's "eyes" of which bakon accepting out of the fact he didnt want to continue to be like the way he was, rimo also used the blue pheonix that was next to him to heal up the scars bakon had and after bakon was sent to other worlds and dimensions outside of robloxia and he truly felt freedom for the first time and he was like an injured cat warming up to the world finally trusting people again and this eventually resulted with bakon age reggressing to finally have the childhood he had lost all those three years that was taken away from him and not only that but he got a house other than his childhood home he can't return back to for some reason that house being in the cross side where he also was introduced to lego jaclk and some of the other people there but then one day rimo finally cracked, for he kinda somewhat saw himself in bakon and he hated it he hated it so much that one the day he cracked his little "mask" and it broke, he started to self-project his self hatred on bakon whether that be physical or mental it continued and throughout all of that bakon believed and still believed rimo is fine and he will get better and that he is a good person at heart just a bit hateful towards himself, but sometimes bakon belived some things rimoman had said as it was some what the truth, eventually rimo had stop using bakon as his "eyes" and yet his behavior towards bakon worsen and instead of self-projecting bakon he is now been just sadistic towards him, treating bakon as a pawn. one day bakon finally figured out how to dimension hop and travel without the help of rimoman and with that he figured out how to he never was able to return back to his childhood home ꩇׁׅ݊ιռᦔ𝔰ɔʌ℘ꫀׁׅܻ of which he currently lives in although robloxia is a tad bit missing some things like the outside

I respect devils minion ship and shippers but most of them really are out there trying to make EVERYTHING about them!

Like armand torturing and almost killing daniel is seen as this ✨️romantic✨️ moment when actually armand did all of them because he is possesive of louis. Louis literally had to threaten armand to not kill daniel (TWICE)

Also how they act like their ships are on higher moral ground than loumand (im talking about both devils minion and loustat shippers) when both of those ships are also deeply problamatic.

Like when people say that Louis 'forced' himself to be with armand to save claudia!! Where did that even come from?? And that there was no love between them. Louis said that he *loved* armand many times. Even his fledgeling could feel his love for him!

Also some of them are saying Louis would never EVER get back with armand again after what he did to claudia (it has nothing to do with loustat i swear! Just claudia! Think about her!!) I don't understand how they willfully ignore how lestat did not do anything right by her. Him abusing both claudia and louis wasn't real then?? (And i say this as someone who ships loustat) Also armand was driven by fear when it came to the trial. That's also something people love to ignore. Was he a coward? Yes. Did he actively plan to murder claudia? No.

And in the books louis did know about everything and still stayed with armand, and later got back together with him. (I say this because most of the loustat and devils minion shippers love using the books as evidence to show why their ship is "better")

And they have so much to say about their d/s relationship when in reality it never hurt armand and he was still capable of going behind Louis' back during that time

there's ppl who interact with the show only to feed their own headcanons for shipping purposes only and idk how much can ever be done about that tbh. sometimes it's also an overlap with being racist, intentional or not, but this is why we have a lot of problems here. we're not all on the same starting page in the first place.

(I am not interested in debating the ethics of age swap aus) I have never seen teen wolf but i have read a lot of fanfiction, including a few steter fics. I think, when in an au where there isn't a problamatic power dynamuc, their personalities are really fun. As a result, i have created 2 aus over the years that i'm not going to write because i haven't seen the show and won't because it'll probably make the fics less fun.

Collegues with benefits to lovers:

Background info- peter is 10 years older than derek who is 2 years older than stiles (talia is like, 15 years older than peter). Stiles is settled into his carreer but relativly unknown when they meet, so lets go with 25 and 37 to start. Peter is left hand of the hale pack, meaning he does the more underhanded murders for talia who is hale alpha (no hale fire), and he also does favors for various packs and independent supernatural people. He is a problem solver.

Stiles is kind of like a supernatural PI, but that also ends up with a lot of murder, stalking and reverse kidnapping. He is also a problem solver. He's a spark with a lot of hard won knowledge and a refusal (or inability) to quit, he gets things done.

They aren't from the same town, but both are from california.

Him and peter meet while trying to track and remove some monster that's terrorizing a rural area. Their help was requested by different groups but they end up working together. After a hard battle while they're hopped up on adrenaline, they find a motel to stay the night at. There's only one room, and while there is 2 beds they fall into the same one for some no strings attached celebration sex.

Of couse, since not a lot of people can take care of the problems they take care of, they run into eachother several more times. At which point the promise of no strings attached sex itself becomes a string.

Eventually they become more friends with benefits than collegues. And maybe peter hears a rumor of someone who could be stiles and takes a few detours. And maybe stiles hears mention of the hale's left hand and sticks around town for longer than he should.

About 2 or 3 years pass of them seeing eacother semi-regularly, sometimes once a month, sometimes with a few months between. Stiles calls peter, desperate, and peter leaves right away.

The investigative nature of the problems stiles solve are finally brought up. Peter kills monsters, he takes problems out. Stiles tracks monsters and takes them apart, and his monsters are often worse than a creature who eats the hearts of children to survive.

Stiles busts a young supernatural trafficking ring. It wasn't a large opperation, but it was brutal, and the sights and sounds wouldn't leave him. It was a difficult ordeal, and after he organized for all the children to go to their packs or people who could help, and all the bodies are carted off, he breaks. He's in a secluded cabin in the mountains that had served as his base of opperations and he can't bring himself to go outside. He doesn't feel safe and he can't calm down. He knows he needs to call someone. His friends know what he does but evwn though they are supernaturals themselves, they're not aware of this side of things. They wouldn't know what to do. And his dad would come for him, would on some level understand the trauma of what he'd seen, but if stiles wasn't safe then neither was his dad. He couldn't come here.

So he calls peter. He's ready to shatter when he feels someone enter his wards, but when he recongnizes peter he drags him inside and shoves him down. Peter is confused and on edge, but he pulls himself together in the face of what he smells as stiles barries his face into his neck.

It's two days before peter get's the story of what's going on. Another day before he gently tells stiles they can't stay there to mucg longer. Stiles still doesn't feel right outside, so he asks peter to take him home.

Peter meets the sheriff. It's only slightly awkward as the sheriff can see that his son truly feels safe with the man and peter feels a strange compulsion to win the sheriff's aproval. The sheriff still cleans his gun threateningly in front if him though.

Peter stays an extra few days with the stilinskis before he has to return to his pack. Both him and stiles know that peter meeting stiles' only family and being invited into their home has thoroughly put them beyond friends, but neither talk about it.

Months pass, and it's not the same but how they act hasn't changed. They run into eachother sometimes, seek eachother out when they can.

When derek and cora go missing the pavk descends into a frenzy. Days pass and they grow desperate. Talia is lashing out and the feedback echoes through their bonds. Then peter gets a text, "package in transit: undamaged, expect delays due to traffic." He called stiles as soon as it was clear his niece and nepgew were no longer in town.

Talia does not approve. Not because she doesn't trust her brother, but because she was blindsided by this and her younger children still aren't home. And she gets more unhappy as she connects some dots. Peter spending longer away when he's "consulting," and the sudden unexplained two week absence that she somehow let him get away with not explaining. Tensions grow.

Meanwhile, comedy side plot cora, derek, and stiles road trip. (It was originally just derek, but i feel like adding cora gives the plotline extra oomph.) Derek is grumpy and cora is trying to make him worse while also making stiles as uncomfortable as possible, two goals which work together well. (Doing the math really shifted things but kind of made it better. Cora and stiles are 29ish and derek is 31 and should have his shit together. But no, he's on a forced post-kidnapping road trip.) Derek eventually gets less grumpy but moderatly more violent, and cora pingpongs between invasive questions about stiles and peter, antagonizing derek and stiles, and disappearing inconveniently at rest stops (Cora is a (semi)expierienced solo traveler, she should be able to stretch her legs without her older brother or her unkle's boyfriend breathing down her neck.)

When they finally make it to hale pack land talia ices stiles out and he leaves with nothing more than a quick word to peter that he'll be staying with his dad for awhile. Cora's pissed that he left without saying goodbye and derek's trying to figure out how to get out of dodge when his mom won't let him out of sight because something is Wrong.

Now that tensions have been let out peter and talia are able to properly feel sore over peter's withheld-truth lies and talia's rejection of someone peter chose as his. The explosion is swift.

Peter's nieces and nephew catch him packing a duffel. Cora, who caught on a little late to the tension, is terrified that her unkle is Leaving, but peter assures her he just needs a bit of temporary space, as does talia. Derek almost says that he gets plenty of space, but he was there for the fight and knows that that's partially the cause. Laura, who has been doing a lot in the background as heir, scent marks their unkle and tells him to come back soon. Reminds him that introductions should traditionally be made durring a full moon. A squabble breaks out and peter has to slip away from a pile of flainling limbs.

So peter shows up to stiles house with his tail between his legs while talia definitly doesn't sulk about her baby brother who was always by her side pulling away from the pack, nor about the fact that she's sulking.

Peter and stiles eventually talk about the fact that stiles is hurt that peter's pack knew nothing ahout him. Peter tries his best to explain, they knew of him as his collegue, but what they have is something he wanted as his alone. He had thought about stiles meeting his pack, but he hadn't been ready.

Eventually peter goes back to the pack. Him and talia have a heart to heart thst isn't really about stiles at all (she had felt like peter was pulling away from the pack and she just let him) and healing is had all around. Then peter tells her he "wants to make an introduction to the pack," and when talia asks who he wants to introduce he says, "mine."

And then theres an epilogue or something, idk. The meat of the idea was collegues who sleep together to lovers and unkle in law and same age nephew road trip. The rest was a vehicle to explain the timeline of that.

Next up is a college roomate au that gets angsty.

Welp, there is normalized sexual abuse/assult/harassment, the creator turned Sans into an obsessive freak, Sans keeps harassing frisk, the comic is frans (with female and aged up frisk) and its horrible

Frisk is a singer, and just a few minutes later after she goes to bathroom, Sans goes inside there and starts to harass the shit out of frisk, Also when she rejects him he slams her head to the wall 2 times, later on in the story he daydreams of r@ping her 2 or 3 times and also sexually harasses/assults frisk multiple times

Before anyone says "well yeah but mafia isnt nice, and it shouldnt be normalized or romantized in the first place, the creator made a realistic one" yeah I agree, it shouldnt be romantized at all, however

1) The creator pretty much made it thinking its Fine for Sans to do those shits, the creator is problamatic theirselfs, its not them being realistic

2) They made the comic with fucking SANS AND FRİSK, I want you guys to do something, right now, open Google, and search for Sans and Frisk's photos, the 8 bit ones, and look at them thinking about the things I Said, look at Sans and try to see him as a fucking r@per, Sans in the og game is just a silly guy with a bit of a mysterious story, and someone decided to make him an obsessive r@pist, Im fine with People not following canon since I think difference is a nice thing, however, if they wanted to make a realistic story about the mafia (which isnt the case with this writer) they should make and use their own characters

There is a certain disgust that is visible expressed in the bato episode that simply isn't in Fire Nation. He says smth like 'yeah nothing cozy (?) than dead animal skin' while seeing animal based products. This is not an Anti Aang thing, it is the creators using their main character to show their bias against indigenous practices because the show never presents those barbs as wrong

That's not meat, that's animal skins. And it was a disgust he very quickly got over considering he proceeds to put on a animal skin hat. I don't think anyone was supposed to come away with that thinking "oh, animal skins are bad", they're coming away with "ah, Aang, as a vegetarian, doesn't like animal skins"

Those same creators that had one (1) character say one (1) thing about animal skins are the ones who put in the research and built the water tribes to begin with.

Your argument is especially frusterating because the writers absolutely do show indigenous bias but this is not an example of it. This is an example of a vegetarian kid who is uncomfortable with dead animals being uncomfortable with dead animals. The bias comes in how they made the indigenous coded nations be presented as socially backward (with the strict sexism), uninformed (their general isolation/ Sokka and Katara's ignorance), and underdeveloped (significantly more basic tech and weapons than everyone else), which are all genuine problamatic views of many indigenous cultures.

Not the 12 yr old being vaguely creeped out by animal fur, otherwise his comments toward the meat eating in the Fire Nation, which also aren't presented as wrong, should mean the writers are also hating on the fire nation. They're not. That's just specifically Aang's character.

i heard the anime was heavily censored in south korea but a fan asked what anime soobins been recently watching and he said made in abyss, (contained cp, p*dophilia, and torture) he didn’t like s1 and said s2 was better but the manga and anime is very problamatic n stuff i only know that for soobin idk ab the other idols but ppl are saying mingi recommended to a fan in a fancall.

i think at some point with scandals leaked over time, you start to realize how dark the industry is. ig that’s just reality but idols are just like us. they can be messed up and do bad things, but in front of fans they put on their idol act. ofc that’s not the case for all idols, but as a 7+ year kpop stan im starting to see it’s a regular thing 😭 that’s just how it is 🫠
