Its commonly accepted that mythical beings such as vampires can be interpreted in such a wide variety of ways-from corpses risen from the grave like in folklore, suave aristocratic predators in classical horror films or even lovable and sympathetic in child-friendly media like Hotel Transylvania yet Helluvaverse's take on hell is considered dissatisfactory from a worldbuilding standpoint.

I want to ask what it is about Vivziepop's take on hell that fails to work and is dissatisfactory when its accepted that there are no wrong ways to interpret mythical beings and settings.

In A Lesser Show (*Cough* Helluverse* Cough*) Jax Would Be A Total Screen Hog That Would Have A Badly Written Freudian Excuse For His Behavior

Seriously if Jax was in a certain demon show he certainly would be getting the screen time and focus over characters. He would probably overstay his welcome and try to have everyone excuse him for what he does. However, instead the narratives does it best to make sure his behavior while is played for laughs still gets on people's nerves and he often will pay for it. A thing in Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss where jerkass characters rarely pay for their actions and even get rewarded with it. Or worse, have their actions excuses as just tragically apart of their hard past. But even though we aren't there yet, it still keeps Jax accountable and we know that no excuse can account for how he treats people. And again that is what keeps him still loved because the creator knows how to utilize him good and keep him where he is.

My English Teacher taught me a lot of shit that would put Viv to shame, the shit she's doing now would have caused my assignments to get immediately F graded, a storyline has a beginning, a middle and an end, and for Viv, she did the Beginning but want to fast travel her way to the end.

Slowburn is amazing, but writing a story and waiting for the payoff is better, she somehow managed to graduate school which the curriculum requires ENGLISH.

What did she learn in English back then because what happened between then and now to have fucked up the english language. English doesn't HAVE to also be about that it also has to do with pacing and worldbuilding.

I usually start DND campaigns to get a feel on what to do, worldbuilding is BEST with other people that are strangers and not people you've met in school, whenever I brainstorm ideas I usually ask @esotericdivinity or @pastel-kaleesh two fantastic people I didn't know beforehand and became moots with.

One of them gave me ideas for a ship couple and I worked on it, but working with close friends like Viv causes a "conflict of interest" when it deals with concrit, but sometimes you gotta understand criticism helps you either way.

Also the Definition of Media Literacy as an insult falls flat when this is the def:

the ability to critically analyze stories presented in the mass media and to determine their accuracy or credibility.

We are not Media Illiterate and neither is the countless people who has degrees in English telling you why your show sucks, if you can't survive a English Major telling you why your show sucks then you can't survive school either, because your teachers gonna tell you shit you don't like, thats how life fuckin is.

Controversial opinion, but I think at least in our modern-day life, it's more progressive to have an unlikable female villain depicted in media. I'm kinda so tired of making and watering down every female villains goals and motivations by slapping on some sob story (that often times comes off as more sexist...yknow your typical "she's like this because she lost her kid or her husband or is infertile" or some other bs) and making her morally grey last minute. Especially when the whole point of the plot was showing how said female villain got to be an irredeemable asshole who would trample everything in her way. You can't suddenly build her up to be a stand-in for...idk the complexities of facism or capitalism, idfk maybe even a stand in for the devil himself. Then strip away a that progress with no build up.

Like a bit of a side note but I partially blame this on a new age of writers as well where while it's good to want a lot of nuance and grey areas to explore with villains it's become the norm to ALWAYS make them sympathetic. The goal from these writers have shifted from " let's make the most perfect fit for a villainous antagonist to oppose our main good guys" and more so "how can we make everyone who watches this love every single character to maximize positive outreach and profit. How can we get it so this piece of media attracts fandom more than it attracts people to a story" if that makes sense.

Writing has taken a sharp turn (especially in animated media) to write with things like shipping and fandom in mind. Like God forbid I want natural character progression and subtle insertion of character tropes that get built on that aren't someone just marketing these 2 character as sunshine x grump. That's what fanfic is for. Because no hate to fanfic (I write it a lot myself and have seen beautiful pieces of work) but it's so weird to see every book or show act like they don't need to build up everything. Like this is a fandom and show we all watched and get the inside jokes of.

But anyways back to my point, I've think we've been losing the unique charm of having fucked villains we come together and hate. Hate so much that you come to love and respect them for the amazing roles they play in their respective stories. And that's partially because of everything I said above. At least personally.

There is a difference between enjoying villains and babying a rapist. That's why people were not keen during the seasonal rot era where Quagmire as a rapist became a complaint.

tbh hazbin hotel was definitely made for a different era of television. it was definitely made for a different era of fandom that could comprehend the idea that people could enjoy villains without enjoying their actions and it was made for an era of television that would have given them a 22 episode season with filler

The problem with gay rep in Helluverse

Why are there like no lesbians? There are like two lesbians in the whole of the two shows, hell, there are more straight characters than there are for lesbians!

Also, there are absolutely no non-binary characters. Think about it, none.

Why is it that every single gay character always twinks who is sex obsessed? I'm not saying there's nobody like that, but in Hazbin and Helluva, every gay character is like that, no moderation at all. Need proof? Check the Helluva Boss pride art.

If Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss are meant to have good LGBT+ reputation, why are there no non-binary characters, no agender, or no intersex? Barely any lesbians, it'd only gay men or pansexual characters, THE END. Charlie x Vaggie is the only w/w ship in the whole Helluverse, and it's not even well written. 😠

My feelings towards Epic the Musical vs. Hazbin Hotel 😂

I have recently binge watched all of Epic the Musical and let me just say...

It felt SO nice to watch something that actually provoked emotion out of me instead of frustration and cringe.

It felt SO nice to follow a main character whose actions actually had consequences and learns to toughen up in order to get home instead of a main character whose a total pushover and never gets the spotlight.

It felt SO nice to listen to the songs that're actually catchy and well written instead of songs that only seem to repeat information we already heard or do nothing in the long run.

And it also felt nice that it actually EARNED it's emotional beats instead of it telling me HOW I should feel in the moment.

HelluvaHazbin Selfaware AU Rewrite: Mammon Sticks It To Beezlebub.

The room was silent as Mammon stood back, he seemed to be quiet, he tried to ask Leviathan (albeit awkwardly.) about catching up as they haven't been hanging out in awhile at all. But Levi mistook it as him trying to flirt with him.

That's when that fat shaming son of a bitch Beezlebub chimed in. "What's wrong, Mams? Mad because no one will fuck you? Look at how sloppy and disgusting you are."

Mammon's hold on the bucket of chicken he had tightened as his face turned a shade of red, he didn't let it bother him. No. He had better things to do instead of worry about what people said.

"Oh piss off you tosser!" He shouts back at Beezlebub, "Aren't ya the one who indulges in yerself? I thought the point of Gluttony was to pig out! Why are ya JUST now directing your disdain of me, a male indulging in my whims? I'd thought you of all people would be in support of it, or is it because rules of thee does not apply to me."

Silence.

It was far worse silence then Fizzarolli attempting one of the many, many, many tricks he had him perform only for the same imp to fail each and every time leaving Mammon to punish said imp for failure. Something he never liked to do, but had to do. Something he regretted.

The Silence dragged on until Asmodeus' smooth voice broke them from their respite.

"Actually, Mammon is, correct. Morally speaking why do you get to decide if what he was indulging in is gross? Come to think of it, aren't we all sins? Aren't we all just bad people?" Asmodeus asked.

"I have never thought to see the day where Asmodeus sees eye to eye with Mammon of all people." Satan rolled his eyes.

"Hey, we may have bad blood back from the days of the circus, and how he treated Fizz, but I won't hesitate to call out hypocrisy. I just don't get why it's okay for other people to do things that Mammon's doing, but when they do it, it's morally acceptable."

"Sometimes there's no real logic in way things work Asmodeus, sometimes you just have to accept that things are the way they are. This may be Hell, but that gives no excuse for people to be disrespectful to those without warning. Reminder, Hell doesn't give you the excuse to be far worse. You are your own person. You're not some person in a show that was centered around one point before turning into a literal fanfiction. Or written by someone who lacked basic actual context clues. You are a being that is in control of his own actions."

As Satan says this, the group looked towards the screen. Before turning back to their own works.

"It feels like I am written by someone who lacks basic understanding of nonce who thinks that all Aussie's are evil mustache twirling POS who are fat and unoriginal." Mammon said.

Before anyone can answer. The door opened, Satan expected Stolas to arrive but what he didn't expect was one of his kind, an imp.

"Who is this?" Satan asked, as the imp made her way up to Mammon and sat on his lap. She gave him a kiss on her cheek.

"Oh her?" Mammon smiled, "This is my wife, Seraphina."

Watching as Beezlebub's mouth drop open, and Mammon spoke again.

"Now, what was that about how, 'No one will fuck me' Bee?"

Anyone else a little disappointed with Leviathan and Belpehgor's designs?

Edit: something I forgot to say is if any of you guys like their designs, that's great! I can see why people like these designs and I'm not trying to make anyone hate them or change their opinion. It's definitely more of a person taste for me and we can discuss why we may like/dislike something without fighting

I wanna make it clear that I don't think there terrible designs and I think most of us excepted that there not really gonna be accurate to their orignal descriptions, but I can't help but still feel slightly disappointed with what we got

I think my main problem with them is how they share the same problems I have with Mammon and Beelzebub'a designs, and it's that they kinda just look like regular sinners rather then 2 of the 7 most powerful demons. I also think they don't really do a good job hinting to their sins, like Belpehgor does have a bit of an edge due to how we always see her sleeping but that's about it, Leviathan is worse cause there are no hints to her being the sin of envy (I think they were trying to do that with the monster head maybe hinting towards her secretly being envious of others but they don't really do a good job showing it)

There are things that I like about their designs. Their colours are nice, I love the idea of Leviathan having multiple heads like a hydra, the idea of making Belpehgor a sheep demon (since sheep's are usually associated with sleep) is cute, and I like how the markings on her neck are not only an eye opening and closing but may be a reference to the moons cycle. Again I wanna make it clear that I don't hate theses designs and I'm sure with time I'll warm up to them, I just with with the prince's they could've made them more unique and stand out from the sinners like Ozzie did compared to the Succubus and Incubus's
