some hurt/comfort musings
i’ve been reading a lot of MT!Prompto fics lately. this is mostly because hurt!Prompto fics are the only thing i can stomach anymore, but. well, there’s some logic behind it.
most obvious is that hurt!Ignis or hurt!Gladio content is 100% out of the question for me; i can barely handle imagining either of them even getting so much as a papercut, never mind anything worse. the whole point of h/c for me is that it soothes my anxiety, not causes it, so either of them in the role of “hurt” is an automatic no.
i used to be able to read hurt!Noctis fics, but i had to stop for a couple of reasons. one, i get genuinely depressed over Noct’s death in canon & all the suffering he had to go through, so reading about more of it doesn’t feel nice at all. and two, i learned the hard way that people like to ship him with his canon older brother/parental figure (aka Ignis), which obviously grosses me out to no end, and too many hurt!Noct fics turn shippy, often without warning. so, big no.
that leaves Prompto, who wins because he is not Ignis or Gladio, and also because Promnis (while i don’t actually ship it at all) doesn’t make me want to puke, so if it turns shippy, i can easily ignore it or just deal with it.
i’ve stumbled across a very pleasant (for me) theme though, which is that a lot of hurt!Prompto fics (especially ones that bring those MT elements into it) put a ton of focus on what Prompto would have dealt with had he actually been raised in Niflheim...in other words, a lot of childhood trauma, which is what i also have, which is why he’s so wonderful to project onto as the “hurt” one in a hurt/comfort scenario.
but what i love even more is how Ignis is often portrayed as the caretaker in these sorts of fics, because he tends to go full parent mode and it’s amazing.
i read one recently that's stuck with me (in a good way), because the way Ignis reacts to (former MT) Prompto as he discovers the world is exactly how i wish someone would’ve reacted to me at various points in my life.
Ignis, in this fic, has a way of acknowledging Prompto’s apprehensions & fears without being dismissive or patronizing, and he’ll follow this by immediately guiding Prompto in a different direction and getting him focused on something that’s easier for him to handle. it’s a very practical “you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to; let’s try this instead. here, i’ll help you,” approach, which is not only a wonderful display of patience and understanding in general, but also an ideal way (in my opinion) to recognize another person’s struggles without acting superior to them or harming their dignity.
i love and appreciate such characterizations of Ignis, because i feel they fit him in terms of the fact that he literally is a caretaker. Ignis spent most of his life looking after, and helping to raise, Noctis; a large part of his job requires him not only to maintain patience and empathy for his charge, but also the ability to strategize and to remain level-headed in times of crisis, emotional or otherwise.
i believe that Ignis, upon noticing someone becoming triggered or overwhelmed, would react exactly as he does in this fic--by strategizing a way around the situation to the benefit of the person who is having a difficult time, without causing them to feel inferior for something they can’t help. which, tbh, is not only a great way to support someone who is dealing with trauma, but is also a great way to support an autistic person who is having a meltdown/shutdown (and gods, would i have given anything to have had an Ignis, on so many different occasions).
anyway, hurt/comfort fanfiction is literally how i discovered FFXV to begin with, and almost 2 years later, it’s still one of the most significant ways these characters help me and allow me to self-soothe. caretaker!Ignis especially, because gosh, what a perfect mama bird to imprint on.
i’m sorry i like it when you’re hurt, Prompto, but it’s only so i can read about Ignis taking care of you!

The air was warm against your skin as you awaited the return of Prince Noctis, your brother Prompto, Gladio, and Ignis; your back flush against the warmed ivory column that was a part of the entrance into the castle of Insomnia. Your brow raised as the four young men opened the door, Noctis's face a fed-up expression like usual. The blonde male, your brother, let out a sigh and motioned you to follow the group as they continued to walk.
The soft sound of pages being turned and pen scraping against the soft flat surface of the paper was like music to your ears as you did research on the different places in Eos that you would be seeing on your way to Altissia for Prince Noctis's wedding. Your friend, and crush, Ignis walked up with two cans of Ebony, his arm extending as he sat beside you at the library table. You thanked him and began tidying up the table so he could set his can down when he wasn't drinking any of his Ebony.
"You're really excited about this trip, aren't you, hm?" He placed his Ebony down softly and took the book from your hands, his long slender fingers flipping through the pages.
"You want to swim in Galdin?"
"Ye-Yeah. I think it would be fun." He pushed his glasses up at the bridge and gave a soft hum.
"I can make sure we will go swimming. Go get prepared for the trip. The King wants to speak with Noctis, Gladio, your brother, and me before we set off for Hammerhead. I'm sure you'd love to make sure you have everything you need. I'll clean this up for you."
"Thanks, Iggy." You gave a soft smile before placing a soft kiss on his cheek. "You're the best. Ignis became flustered, his cheeks turning a soft pink as you left the study to head to your room.
After promising to the King that you all would be by Noct every step of the way, you climbed into the back of the Regalia with Noctis and Gladio while Prompto climbed into the passenger seat and Ignis took the driver seat. You waved goodbye to Cor who closed the door and then smiled at Ignis as he looked at you through the rearview mirror.
"Well. Princes will be Princes." He said with a matter-of-fact tone as he smiled at you slightly.
"So much for royal protocol." Added Ignis as he ran his fingers through his ash-brown hair.
"Not like you had to give a royal address." The muscular dark-haired man, Gladio stated.
"Your Highness!" Drautos, King Regis's right-hand man called out, walking carefully behind the King as they made their way down to the five of you.
In the midst of Prompto driving, after Ignis agreed to take a break from driving, the Regalia broke down. Noctis, Gladio, and Prompto waited outside of the car trying to get someone to stop and help. When you suggested that you could easily get someone to pull over Ignis shot you a glare and pointed at the front seat making you move into the seat beside him.
"We all ready to head out?" You asked, feeling super excited about getting to meet Lady Lunafreya.
"Tch. I'm ready as I'll ever be." Noct said as he rested his head back against the back of the leather seat, closing his eyes as Iggy began to drive."
"What? I-I was just stating-."
"U-Uh… really?" Noct sounded defeated as yet another vehicle passed by without stopping to check to see if you all were okay or not.
After paying with the rest of the fund you and Ignis returned to the other three handing Prompto and Noctis their snacks and drinks and handing Gladio his drink before plopping down on Ignis's lap after he sat down. He tensed up, his cheeks going red as he cleared his throat then opened his Ebony and took a drink. You pulled your phone out and began playing some King's Knight while leaning back against him to rest your head on his shoulder. He froze, hiding his face slightly as Prompto snapped a photo of the both of you.
After agreeing to push the vehicle to Hammerhead and getting settled in so you could rest, a blonde woman who was the mechanic of the place introduced herself as Cindy. You smiled and shook her hand introducing yourselves. While she and her grandfather, Cid, worked on the car, Ignis asked if you could join him in gathering supplies while the other rested at the diner.
"Sorry about the Regalia, Y/N. I know how excited you are about the travel." Ignis said with a soft smile, his green eyes looking into yours.
"Hey... don't worry about it. I'll love every step of the way as long as I have you by my side. You're my best friend and I'm glad to have you four with me. So. Are we going to just set up camp here then?"
"I don't know. Hopefully, the Regalia will be done by nightfall but if we have to stay here then so be it." You nodded with a smile and grabbed some Ebony along with a few other necessities that might be needed for the trip.
"Hm. We are low on funds. Maybe there is a way to earn some?" You asked looking over at him.
"Maybe we can ask Cindy about where we can earn some Gil." You gave a quick nod.
Prompto made you stay back at Hammerhead while they did some bounties to make the quick Gil so it was slightly boring for you until Cindy offered that you could help if you wanted. It piqued your interest so you greed, allowing her to show you the ropes. It was so fascinating learning about the car and all of the different parts along with what they did. When the boys returned the car was ready to go but since it was getting late, Cindy lent the group some Gil to pay for you to stay at the camper next to Takka's diner.
"So what now?" Gladio asked taking a gulp of his drink.
"I say we talk to Cindy to see if there is any way we are able to earn some quick Gil for the travels ahead." Prompto nodded at Iggy's statement and took more pictures here and there.
"Sounds good. The sooner we can get out of here the better." Noct said as he stood, yawning and stretching. After quickly finishing your level you stood and pushed your phone into your pocket following the guys to the garage to talk with the blonde mechanic.
Gladio, Prom, and Noct sat outside at the tables playing King's Knight together while you watched Ignis work his magic in the kitchen. Your eyes stayed glued to his forearms after he rolled his sleeves up, his veins popping out slightly as his muscles flexed with each movement. You couldn't help but be mesmerized by his hands and how expertly he moved his fingers as he added ingredients and used the utensils to cook the food. You could almost imagine how they would feel against your skin. Since you were so caught up in watching how his hands worked, you didn't hear him speaking to you.
Once everyone was done and the dishes were cleaned, you and the guys quickly changed into nightclothes. The feeling of someone's eyes on you made you shudder. You turned to see Ignis quickly looking away and you felt yourself becoming flustered as you climbed into the camper bed. Knowing you would be sharing the bed with Ignis made your heart race even more. You currently had two emotions running through you at the moment. Nervousness about sharing the bed with Iggy and you just felt off as if something bad was bound to happen soon. You just shook it off as nerves.
"Y/N? Are you alright?" You began to blush and gave a nervous laugh as you rubbed the back of your neck.
"Ye-Yes, Iggy? I'm um I'm fine. Do you need anything from me?" Your face grew hot as Ignis raised a brow at you before continuing to cook. Once he plated the food he handed you two plates, one being for Prompto and the other being for yourself.
"Just relax is all I ask of you. I'll see if Gladio will help with the dishes after we all get done eating."
After saying goodnight and turning the lights off you felt the bed dip from the weight of Ignis climbing into the bed and resting his head on his pillow. You couldn't help but to turn and face him, the light from outside spilling in and highlighting his features. It was rare to see Ignus without his glasses and frankly, he looked ethereal. Seeing him like this took the nervousness away. You gasped and went to turn away as he opened his eyes, turning his head to look at you until you felt his large hand wrap around your wrist.
The next day you said your saying goodbyes to Cindy before heading off to Galdin Quay. Gladio sat in the back with you and Noct again as Prompto sat in the passenger seat taking photos along the way. You smiled as Gladio wrapped an arm around you, pulling you against him, sharing one of his favorite books with you to help pass the time. Ignis chuckled as you stuck your tongue out at Prompto when he began taking pics of you and Gladio before you returned to Gladio's book.
"Is something troubling you, Y/N?" His voice was low as he let go of your wrist and reached up brushing a loose strand of your hair behind your ear, sending electricity through you as his soft skin brushed against your cheek.
"Just… I feel as if something basis going to happen. Something just doesn't feel right, Iggy."
"I assure you it's nothing. You should get some rest. First thing in the morning we will be heading to Galdin Quay." He gave a soft smile before you turned and faced your back to him again. The feeling of Ignis scooting closer made you smile to yourself unaware of him being hesitant at first wrapping an arm around you; his warmth helping you drift off to sleep.
You were finally in Galdin. You made your way across the water on the wooden alk way toward the entrance of where the restaurant was located, running into a very mysterious man in strange yet fancy-looking clothing with wine-red hair and golden eyes. You couldn't deny how attractive the man was and found yourself staring at him. You raised a brow as Ignis stepped in front of you slightly as the man's eyes landed on yours.
You were informed by a man named Dino who is a journalist that yes the docks are closed only temporarily but he could pull some strings and get a boat for the group but only if you agreed to help out with something. He needed some help gathering some ore for his side job as a jeweler.
"I'm afraid you're out of luck." The man's voice was husky with a sly tone weaved in. It sounded like heaven.
"Are we now?" Noctis asked sounding a bit irritated.
"The boats bring you here." He stated motioning back to the dock where the ships usually stop for passengers and goods that are being transported.
"What about 'em?" Prompto asked looking a tad nervous like he usually does.
"Well, they'll not take you forth." The man said looking a bit defeated, scratching the back of his head under his hat.
"And what's your story?" Gladio looked upset as the man began to walk through your group towards the walkway.
"I'm an impatient traveler. Ready to turn ship. The ceasefire's getting us nowhere." He said holding something in his hand before flicking it towards Noctis. Gladio caught it before it could hit Noct's face.
"Tch, what's this? Some kind of souvenir?" Gladio asked examining the coin.
"They make those?" Prompto asked excitedly.
"What? No!" Noct looked at your brother with a warning glare.
"Consider it your allowance." The man said with a slight smile.
"Oh yeah? And who's 'allowing' us?" Gladio looked pretty fed up at this point as he looked at the guy. Your cheeks became flushed and you felt your throat tighten as the man's eyes landed on you with a smirk on his face.
"A man of no consequence." He said before turning and leaving.
"Yeah right…" Noct said rolling his eyes.
"Do you trust what he was saying?" Prompto asked grabbing your hand to make sure you were okay.
"I am skeptical yet I won't brush off the possibility that it may be. Let us go check it out for ourselves. Shall we?" Ignis looked over at you as you nodded and gave your brother's hand a squeeze before walking to the docks.
Since the group agreed, you asked if you could come along. It was just gathering some gems so there would be no fighting involved. The guys agreed so you felt excited to be a part of the group like when they went out to do certain bounties and tasks. Even though it was just collecting the gems, you still felt like you were doing something. Prompto chuckled and ruffled your hair as you all headed to the car to drive to the nearby location Dino had pointed out for you all where the ore was.
Ignis stopped and grabbed your hand out of instinct, pulling you against himself as he nodded toward what made him stop. It was a giant bird that they saw during one of their bounties in Hammerhead, You blushed at how close you were, yours and his nose brushing as he looked back down at you, the guys staring at the two of you. You cleared your throat softly so as to not wake the beast and pulled away.
The next morning you woke a bit before Noctis. Gladio smirked and nudged your brother as soon as he saw you sit up. Prompto smiled and grabbed a plate that had a muffin on it with a note from Ignis then walked over, sat beside you, and handed it to you.
"I can stay here. You guys go ahead and get the gem. Just to be safe." You stated meekly, knowing what they were going to suggest anyway. Iggy gave a nod and motioned for the other three to follow him carefully and quietly.
You covered your mouth and hid behind the jagged rock as the giant bird woke. It stood, straightening its wings, and flew off causing a huge strong gust of wind, allowing the guys to grab the gem with no problem. Of course, Prompto took a quick snapshot of the creature before it was able to fly away then quickly met up with the guys. When they returned and you were all walking back to the Regalia, Gladio nudged Ignis with a smirk.
"So... what was that about earlier, huh?" Ignis froze as he became flustered, pushing his glasses up nervously and continuing to walk.
"What do you mean?" Iggy cleared his throat as he glanced over at you who had a matching red face.
"Yeah. What do you mean, Gladdy?" You asked raising a brow while crossing your arms over your chest, huffing a little.
"Come on, sis. I've known you had a crush on Igni- ow!"
"Prompto! Shut up!" You punched his arm and looked away, feeling too flustered to look at Ignis. "Le-Let's just hurry back to Dino and give him his stupid rock. It's getting dark anyway."
Since it was going to be overnight until he boat would arrive, the five of you check into your hotel that Dino paid for and changed into swim suits. Once you stepped out of the bathroom, Ignis, Gladio,a nd Noct froze. Their eyes glueing to you as they stared at you in awe. Prompto stepped in front of you and crossed his arms.
"Guys... You two also? C'mon now. Let's head to the water, sis." Your brother said with one last glare before heading down to the beach with you.
When the other three arrived you flung some water at Gladio, laughing as he ran into te water and splashed you back. Ignis sat at the edge of the water watching you, Gladio, Prompto, and Noctis play. When you noticed he wasn't in the water you swam over then walked over to him, his green eyes looking up at you.
"Come join me, Iggy? Relax and have some fun. Please?" You gave him puppy dog eyes with a cute pout.
"Oh, alright." He stood and grabbed your hand, walking into the water with you. "You um. You look beautifu." Ignis felt stupid and couldn't find the right words as you placed your hands on his shoulders, using the water as leverage to wrap your legs around his hips, locking them behind him. You smiled and placed a kiss to his cheek then rested your head against the crook of his neck.
"Thanks, Iggy. You're so tense. Relax, yeah?" He let out a shaky breath and relaxed as best as he could, holding you close.
You couldn't sleep as you listened to the sound of Noctis, Prompto, and Gladio snoring. Noticing Ignis wasn't making any noise you turned to face him. In the dim lighting you could see he was laying on his back until he noticed you were facing him, his eyes were now on you. He opened his arms, hinting for you to get closer so you did. Ignis gave a small smile and rested his hand on your lower back while you lay your head on his chest. He took his free hand and grabbed yours. You looked up at him, taking in his beauty, listening to his quickening heartbeat.
"Your heart is beating so fast." Your voice was a quiet whisper as you sat up on your arms slightly, looking down into his eyes.
"It's nothing. YOu should get some rest now. Tomorrow we will be on our way to see Lady Lunafreya."
"Okay." You were hesitant but you lay back down, pressing a kiss to his jawline. "Goodnight, Iggy."
"Goo-. Hm." He cleared his throat and tightened his arm around you. "Goodnight, Y/N."
You felt butterflies in your stomach as he gently kissed your forehead, his finger tips running up and down your side before he finally fell asleep. You fell asleep shortly after listening to the sound of his heart softly drumming against his chest and his quiet breathing.
“For 'Darling’. Ignis left this for you.” He said with a smirk before heading over to stand with Gladio again.
Noct sat up and yawned, stretching a bit before he got out of bed while rubbing his eyes. Finally, the prince of slumber was awake. You smiled as you began to eat the muffin Iggy had left for you. It was your favorite. He must’ve remembered.
You felt your face grow warm as you opened the note which read:
'Darling. I will be back shortly. I needed to go gather some supplies. Do enjoy. I want you to have some sustenance before we head out to meet Lady Luna. -Iggy’
You couldn’t say anything as you all made your way back towards Insomnia. Seeing all of the giant Imperial ships flying overhead made your heart sink, knowing what the papers said are true. Ignis had to turn off the to the side road since the Imperials sat up a blockade. Since the four would be going to investigate, you agreed to stay behind in the Regalia.
“Heya. Mornin’.” Prompto greeted.
“Where’s Specs?” He asked, placing his hands on his hips.
“Should be back any minute now.” Gladio reassured him. A few moments later Iggy returned with a newspaper in hand and a glum look on his face.
“What’s that look for?” Noct asked curiously as Iggy handed the paper to Gladio.
“It’s in all the papers.” Iggy said with a somber tone.
“What is?” Noct looked like he was growing impatient like a child being told to wait patiently for a treat.
“Insomnia falls-” Prompto read.
“What?! Is this your idea of a joke?” Noct spat angry words at Ignis.
“I need you to calm down so I can explain.” Ignis tried to speak reason. You stood and walked over to Iggy, unsure of what was going on.
“I’m as calm as I’m gonna get-.”
“There was an attack. The Imperials have taken the Crown City.” You covered your mouth as Gladio began to read from the paper. The King was found dead.
“No wait…. hold on. It’s lies.”
“If only.” Prompto said, turning to look at the group. “We have to turn back.”
“It may not be safe for us there-.” Ignis said with concern.
“It may not be safe for us here.” He added. And he was right. What if the Imperials look for us here.
“Turn back?” Gladio asked, looking at Noct.
“Yeah.”
Before they could walk off, you grabbed Prompto’s wrist and pulled him close, wrapping your arms around him tightly, and resting your forehead against his. You were terrified. Out of all the dangerous missions they had done before, knowing the Imperials were involved made you worry more than usual. He gave a small smile as he placed his hand on your cheek.
“Don’t worry bout me, lil sis. I’ll be well taken care of.”
“You better be. I’ll kick their asses if you aren’t.” He let out a soft chuckle before meeting up with the others. Ignis patted Prompto’s shoulder with a nod before they all vanished behind the walls leading to the overlook of Insomnia. The sounds of gunshots make your heart sink due to not knowing what was going on.
~A Few Days Later~
The group was finally in Lestallum to meet up with Gladio's little sister, Iris. It was nice to finally be able to sleep in an actual bed again after having to camp on the ground in a tent for a bit. You, however, felt extremely nervous since you would be rooming with Ignis while Gladio roomed with Noctis and Prompto. Ignis seemed irritated as Gladio kept going on about everything he wanted to do and what things the group should do with Iris. Gladio raised a brow when you walked over, placing your hands on his shoulders and kissing his cheek.
"How about we all rest a bit and tomorrow we can get some cup noodles then go exploring with Iris? Does that sound good? I'm sure Ignis would love a breather. He's been the driver after all." Gladio looked between the two of you and gave a small nod then left with a wink at Ignis.
"You didn't have to do that." Ignis stated as he began unbuttoning his shirt and then taking his gloves off.
"I-I um. I know. I just figured you needed to relax is all." You assured as you averted your eyes from him when he opened his shirt, pulling it off and folding it, placing it on the bed before walking over to you. He placed his index and middle finger under your chin, tilting your head up and making you look into his eyes.
"You've been awfully quiet as of late. Is it something I've done?" Your heart broke at the expression of worry on his face.
"Of course not, Iggy! You could never do something that would upset me. You always do so much for us and it's just... all of this is so much but with you around. it puts me at ease." You smile up at him, resting your hands against his bare chest.
"I try to protect you as much as I can. I can't bear losing you, Y/N." You felt your face grow warm as he pulled your face close to his, your lips brushing against his as the door opened up.
"Hey, Iggy. You think we could go out and eat tonigh- oh my Shiva!" Prompto looked up from his camera, his eyes going wide as you quickly pulled away. Noctis stood behind him with a smirk. Ignis let out a sigh as he walked over to his bag and grabbed a fresh shirt.
"I-I'm going to get some fresh air." Prompto grabbed your arm softly before you could walk passed him and Noct.
"N-No. We can leave."
"It's okay really. I just.. need some fresh air. I have my phone if you need me. Now, I better go. I feel as if I'm going to pass out." Prompto gave a nod and let you pass so you could leave.
Lestallum is such a beautiful city at night. The air filled with the delicious aroma of all kinds of foods and sweets. You took note of the nearby restaurant you wanted to check out on the way back to the room while making your way down to the overlook that gave a beautiful view of the Disc of Cauthess. You were so caught up in its beauty that you didn't hear footsteps as someone walked up behind you, stopping beside you.
"Beautiful... isn't it?" That voice.

The Citadel hallways weren’t hushed anymore. Sure, the main thoroughfares had an echoing quality that made Prompto feel like a kid on a museum field trip, but even those larger-than-life spaces had a certain bustle to them. Secretaries, retainers, big wigs surrounded by crowds of chattering attendants -- they all breezed through, dodging and pinwheeling, with documents tucked under their arms and coffee in their hands. It was the coffee, really, that made things feel real; if not for the sight and scent, Prompto might think he was dreaming.
The hall leading to the King’s Office -- separate from the Audience Hall and Council Chambers where the really official business took place -- was a bit quieter and more sedate, but still busy enough that Prompto caught a few snatches of conversation about ‘tariffs’ and ‘the upcoming Council vote’. And then Prompto stepped into the King’s outer office, exchanging nods with the guards, and the noise fell away.
To reveal Talcott, tapping away at his phone. It disappeared as Talcott hopped to his feet, a practiced smile on his lips -- only to turn into a relaxed grin as he recognized Prompto and dropped back to into his chair with a huff. “Good morning, sir.”
Prompto couldn’t help but smile at Talcott. He’d been the King’s Secretary for months now, and by all rights Prompto should be used to seeing him in a suit -- but something about the sight of little Talcott, all spit and polish, with a crisp new haircut and an expensive watch, made him want to start babbling things like ‘you’re all grown up’ and ‘where did the time go’ and ‘when did you get taller than me’.
Instead, Prompto lifted a hand in a wave. “Hey, man. He busy?”
“Nah, he’s supposed to be eating lunch.” Talcott rolled his eyes a little. “How’d your trip go?”
“Pretty good, I think. We’re gonna need to pick up salvage in the Northern Quarter if we want to get stuff out before it gets overtaken.”
Talcott shook his head in amazement. “Things are growing that fast?”
“Yeah.” Prompto shook his own head, leaning against the doorframe that separated the outer office from the King’s refuge. “You should see it, man, it’s really --” He finds himself getting a bit choked up, and cuts himself off. “Sania says it’s years of growth in the timespan of a few months. It’s amazing. I swear, the grass grew two inches while we were there. And there are animals everywhere.”
Talcott lowered his eyes reverently. “A blessing from the Gods.”
Prompto thought about the man on the other side of the door, somehow saved from a predestined death, and let out a breath. “Yeah.”
Talcott searched his face for a beat, then waved him on. “Go on in, Prompto. Get him to eat something, if you can. Next meeting isn’t for an hour or so.”
“Alright. Thanks, Talcott.” Prompto ducked into the inner office.
It was even quieter than the outer office. Prompto hesitated in the entry alcove -- he could see the empty desk chair and guessed that Noct was sprawled out on the couch -- and was suddenly aware of movement on his left. Atop an antique cabinet, stuffed with mundane office supplies (even The King of all Kings needed pens and highlighters, it turned out) a pale shadow stretched and stood, mrrrrrping? inquisitively.
“Hey there, little mama.” Prompto kept his voice hushed in deference to the napping King, reaching up to pet the little cat. “Where’d your babies run off to, huh? Makin’ mischief?” She sniffed his hand intently before headbutting his fingers and then -- to his quiet delight -- stepped delicately onto his shoulder, settling her warm little weight in his arms.
He occupied himself for a moment, rubbing her cheek and chin, exchanging slow blinks. When he let himself into Noct’s office at last, it was with a very happy little cat purring and leaving white hairs all over his black uniform.
The alcove opened into the main room with a short flight of stairs, lined with fresh flowers in antique vases. There were no railings yet -- Ignis insisted that emergency repairs take priority, and that they not go out of their way to accommodate him, a pronouncement greeted with snorts and Gladio’s drawled yeah, no chance of that, buddy -- and so Prompto watched his feet as he descended, a little dazzled by the morning light and its dappled patterns. Above his head, the rosette window bearing the crest of Insomnia blazed like a beacon.
It was the steps, strangely enough, that always took him back to his first visit to the Citadel in the most visceral way. Maybe because he’d been nervous and staring at his feet the entire time, terrified he’d trip and make a fool of himself somewhow. The memory was half a lifetime away, but still strong enough to send his head spinning. He clutched his purring armful a bit tighter.
“Hey,” he called softly. “You awake, sleeping beauty?”
A pale, elegant hand waved lazily, before tucking itself back beneath dark hair already touched with frost. “I’m awake,” Noct said, yawning.
Prompto found himself smiling, approaching the back of the couch. The cat in his arms jumped down immediately, sniffing at Noct’s upraised knee. At the sight of his King, Prompto’s smile broadened into a grin. “Awwwwwww...!”
Noct yawned again. “Don’t start,” he groused. The tabby kitten stuck out an inquisitve paw, apparently aiming for his mouth, but he jerked his chin aside in a practiced gesture. “You just get back?”
“Yep. Gave Iggy my report already.” Prompto leaned on the back of the couch, feeling a bit goofy at the sight of Noct napping with a pair of kittens asleep on his chest. Noct heaved a sigh, watching him, but his eyes were smiling.
He was still thin -- always forgetting to eat, spending too long staring into space as if watching patterns no one else could see -- and had a constant, quiet poise that his younger self had only manifested in flashes. The kind of thing that was only betowed through suffering and long, lonely Reflection.
But damn, he looked good. With the sun from the rosette window tracing his cheek and jaw, he looked like a dream come true. The stretch of skin from his elbows to his hands was the best kind of tease.
Noct’s smirk widened. “Pet the cat, Prompto.”
“Huh? Oh.” Prompto realized he’d been staring, and that the cat was headbutting his arm insistently, demanding scritches. He obeyed, but turned his eyes back to Noct immediately, devouring him.
Noct aimed a lazy kick at him. “You gonna get down here or what?”
“You gonna eat your lunch or what?” Prompto retorted. He considered vaulting the couch, considered the sleepy kittens, and walked around instead.
“Mm, I’ve got time.” Noct tucked his shins against Prompto’s leg as he sat. “You gonna tell me how it was? Find anything good? Like a copy of AssCreed?”
Prompto laughed softly. The cat headbutted his cheek, and then began stomping all over Noct’s royal body with effortless feline dominion. “Yeah,” he said, hooking an arm over Noct’s upraised knees. “It was pretty good. No AssCreed, though, sorry dude.”
Noct held out a hand for the cat, careful not to dislodge her kittens, and raised his brows commandingly. So Prompto talked, painting him a picture of city ruins erupting into bloom -- saplings erupting from ruined stone paving, flowering vines wrapping around burned rafters, ripe fruit buzzing with bees and fluttering butterflies. And the Last King closed his eyes, listening with a soft smile on his lips, as the morning painted the room in soft shades of light.

How would the chocobros react to an SO who gets nervous on a turbulent boat ride? Like getting caught in a mild storm while cruising on the ocean. I’ve always liked boat rides, but when the waves get too rough I wanna hide below deck and latch onto something so I don’t get tossed around lol
I’ve never really been on those kind of rides but I feel ya lol but anyways, Here we go! Hope it’s ok 💙
Noctis

• Out of everyone, it takes him a little bit longer for him to noticed.
• he wraps his arms around your waste but your so afraid of getting tossed out of the boat, due to admitting minor weather conditions, that you didn’t even move.
• (Granted, it’s a worst case scenario but who knows what can happen?!?!?)
• it isn’t til he notices that your not responsive, that he gets a bit concerned.
• “Babe, What’s wrong?”
• you barely explain that your afraid of getting tossed out of the boat due to the minor weather change.
• Gladio thinks til he gets an idea 💡
• Reminder, he isn’t just Noctis’s shield, he’s yours to.

Book Two: Sapphire (Ignis x Reader) Chapter III
The next morning, Gladio dragged Noctis out of bed so they could leave. Ignis finished dressing himself and looked around the motel room. He couldn't find Prompto or (Y/n). Having no doubt the boy had taken the spirit again, he walked out of the room. Scanning the area, he immediately found the two. What shocked him was Prompto's position. He was laying down on the ground on his stomach, his legs swinging back and forth. His camera was trained on the skvader as she laid down on the ground.
"C'mon, work with me here, (Y/n)!" Prompto begged. "How about you hide behind the motel and transform? And when you're ready, you can call me."
The spirit yawned, her nose wiggling slightly. She flopped down on her side with a faint grunt. Lowering his camera, Prompto nibbled on his bottom lip. "Okay, that was really adorable, but not what I was looking for."
"Prompto," Ignis called out, stepping off the porch of the motel. "You'll soil your clothes laying on the ground in such a manner."
"Aaand Mama Ignis has appeared," he sighed. Pushing himself off the ground, he held his camera close to his chest. "Morning to you too, Iggy."
(Y/n) shot up at hearing his name. She dashed over to the advisor and climbed up his body until she was situated on his left shoulder. She threw her long tail around his shoulders, nuzzling her body against the side of his neck. Once she was comfortable, she flopped down and allowed her hind legs to dangle from his shoulder.
Just then, Gladio and Noctis exit the motel room. Ignis glances at his other companions before deciding it was time to leave. "Let's see ourselves to Galdin, shall we?"
"Might as well," Noctis mumbled tiredly.
The group climbs into the Regalia and departs from Longwythe Rest Area. (Y/n) remained on Ignis' shoulder as he drove, enjoying the sensation of the wind blowing through her fur. She looked around as they passed through a ravine of sorts as the radio came to life. The station was broadcasting the news of the upcoming wedding between Noctis and Lunafreya. She could hear Gladio teasing the prince slightly when the broadcast ended, but tuned them out and continued to enjoy the scenery. It was her first time outside of the Crown City and she wanted to enjoy every second of it.
When Galdin Quay came into view from the highway, Prompto stood up in his seat in excitement. "Hey! I see the sea!"
"I "sea" it too," Noctis replied, eyes focused on the clear waters of the ocean.
"That's Galdin Quay," Ignis informed the group.
"Kinda wanna go for a dip," Gladio commented.
Noctis noticed the strange rock formation in the distance. "That a big mountain behind it?"
"No, it's an island," the strategist answered.
"Nobody goes to Galdin for an island, though," Prompto stated. "They go to kick back and get massages!"
"And savor the seafood. It's famously delicious."
"Sounds great," Noctis said.
"Somethin' to look forward to," the shield claimed.
(Y/n) couldn't tear her gaze away from the beautiful beaches of Galdin Quay. The water was clear and the sand was pure white. She already knew what she wanted to do, even though it would risk revealing her human form to Noctis, Gladio, and Prompto. She was going to relax on the beach and nothing was going to get in her way, not even Ignis.
Arriving at Galdin Quay, Ignis backed the Regalia up into a parking spot located by the gas pump. Everyone exited the vehicle and headed towards the Mother of Pearl. Walking across the lengthy boardwalk, they reach the entrance of the restaurant/hotel. A member of the staff greeted them, bowing politely with a hand over his chest. Their destination was the docks, which were located in the back.
They didn't make it far before two men approached them. The taller one had unkempt hair and was cladded in multiple layers of dark clothing. The other man had spiky black locks and wore a faded green jacket with a black t-shirt underneath. Below the waist he wore matching combat pants and black boots. Around his neck swayed the dog tags of what appeared to be his identification as a hunter.
The auburn-haired man was the first to speak. "I'm afraid you're out of luck."
"Are we?" Noctis asked, slightly bothered by the men's presences. He wanted them gone as soon as possible and he had no idea why.
"The boats bring you here."
"What about 'em?" Prompto wondered.
"You're not leaving anytime soon," the spiky-haired man answered. "Better get comfortable."
Gladio crosses his arms, glancing between the two strangers. "And what're your stories?"
"We're impatient travelers, ready to turn ship. The ceasefire's getting us nowhere," the auburn-haired man replied. He then gestures to his companion, who tosses a coin at Noctis.
Gladio snatches it out of the air before it can hit the prince. He examined the coin before looking back up at the strange men. "What's this? Some sort of souvenir?"
Prompto saw the coin and gaped. "They make those?"
Noctis also saw the coin and shook his head. "What? No."
"Consider it your allowance," the taller gentleman remarked with a small, unsettling smile.
"Yeah, and who's allowing us?" The shield scoffed.
He bowed slightly. "Men of no consequences." He then patted his companion on the shoulder. "Come, dear friend. Let us set off."
The spiky-haired man stood still as if her feet were nailed to the floor. He didn't budge as his emerald eyes dwelled on the skvader resting on Ignis' shoulder. Her sapphire eyes locked with his, earning a smirk from the stranger before turning to follow his friend.
"Yeah, right," Noctis sneered under his breath.
Prompto fiddled with his fingers in wonderment. "You believe what those guys said about the port being closed?"
"I'm skeptical, though I won't discount the possibility," Ignis replied.
"I say we go check it out for ourselves," Gladio said.
Walking through the Mother of Pearl, they pass by numerous of people who were enjoying what Galdin Quay had to offer. (Y/n) jumped off the strategist's shoulder and flew to the docks ahead of the boys. She sat near the edge of the docks and gazed out across the ocean. There were no boats in sight.
When she turned around, her eyes landed on a well-dressed young man who was sitting on one of the benches with his legs crossed. She realized he was staring at her with a wide-eyed expression. Carefully approaching him, she sat down a few inches from him. Her tail swished behind her as she squeaked at him, startling him.
The young man, having never met a guardian before, leant down and outstretched his hand to pet her. He was hesitant, but he pushed his fear aside when she stood up on her hind legs and nudged her head against his hand. "Well, aren't yous a friendly one."
(Y/n) looked away from the man when she heard Prompto groan out, "Aw, man. Not a ship in sight. What gives?"
The guardian turned around to see the boys were searching the docks for boats. The young man who was petting her stopped and addressed her companions. "According to my sources, the empire, giving strict orders not to let any vessels leave the docks of Altissia. Real shame if you were late to your own wedding-right, Prince Noctis? Name's Dino, by the way. Pleasure. The crown prince of Lucis, bounty hunting in his fancy car... Surely you didn't think it'd go unnoticed-at least not by this reporter? Lucky for you, this reporter has integrity. If you wanna remain incognito, I'll respect your wish...in exchange for a favor."
Noctis glared at him and kept himself from lashing out in anger at the man's threat. "What do you want?"
"Hey, I knew you'd come around!" Dino cheered. "Lemme see your map."
Reluctantly, the prince hands over the map. Dino pulls out a pen from his pocket and circles an area on the map. Putting the pen away, he handed the map back to Noctis. "Marked where you need to go on your map. All you gotta do is find me some rough gemstones-like this one. Do this, and your ship'll come in. Don't, and the papers'll run you outta town. Capisce?"
(Y/n) stared Dino down as the boys walked away. She didn't blink, which frightened him slightly. Although he was trying to hide his emotions behind a mask, she could tell from his silver gaze he would never truly blow Noctis' cover.
Satisfied with her analysis, she let out a final squeak before flying off to rejoin the others. She caught up with them just as they were stepping off the boardwalk. She wound up crash-landing on Noctis' head. She hung limply from his head with a faint huff. The prince tensed slightly when she collided with his head, but this wasn't the first time she's done so. He grabbed her small body and held her at eye level a few inches from his face. "Don't think I didn't see you with that reporter. You on his side now?"
Outstretching her front paws, (Y/n) made sure her sable claws were retracted before placing her paws on Noctis' cheeks. She squeaked, tapping her soft paws against his face lightly. A smile blossomed on the prince's face. He couldn't help but find her actions adorable. "Yeah, I know you would never betray us. You and Specs are attached at the hip."
The skvader climbed across Noctis' arm the moment he released her. She perched herself on his shoulder as he entered the backseat of the Regalia. Ignis, Gladio, and Prompto followed suit and it wasn't long before they left Galdin Quay to find what Dino requested.
Not far down the road, Ignis pulled the car over to the shoulder and parked. Everyone stepped out of the vehicle and followed Noctis up a stony path. They crossed over a rocky overhang that spanned across the road below. The prince, along with (Y/n) who was still on his shoulder, carefully examined the map before putting it away.
Eventually, they reach an outcrop where they find an enormous bird slumbering. It ruffled its feathers in its sleep, burying its beak against its puffed out chest. Prompto gasped at the sight of the immense beast. "Oh em gee. We're supposed to get near that thing?"
"Pipe down before you wake it up," Gladio hissed just above a whisper.
Crouching, Noctis took the lead and carefully maneuvered around the bird. The others were close behind him, eyes focused on the creature as they held their breath. (Y/n) flattened her small form against the prince's shoulder as they circled around the front of the bird. She could sense just how powerful it was due to its size alone.
Successfully making it past the zu, Noctis stalked over towards a mineral deposit. He grabbed one of the loose pieces of garnet stone and put it into his pocket. He glanced at (Y/n) from the corner of his eye once receiving a soft squeak in response to being able to find and secure what Dino wanted. "Better get it back to him," he whispered to her. She nodded her head in response.
Turning around, Noctis proceeded back the way they came. Ignis was by his side as they rounded around the zu. Unfortunately, the large bird was awoken by a seemingly unknown force. It unfurls its wings, flapping them as hard as it could and creating a powerful gust of wind. (Y/n) dug her claws into Noctis' jacket in a desperate attempt to keep herself from being blown away. Morosely, it wasn't enough. Her small body was sent sailing through the air as the zu took off.
Luckily, Ignis was close by and saw what happened. He snatched her body out of the air and held her close. He loosened his grip on her after the wind died down and the bird was out of sight. "Off it goes..."
Noctis inhaled deeply to calm his racing heart. "Oh, we made it out alive."
"Barely. I seriously thought we were at journey's end," Prompto whimpered.
"But that feat was fit for a king," Gladio commented.
"We've acquired what we came for. Time to return to Galdin," the advisor said. He released (Y/n) and watched her fly around without the fear of being blown away. She went ahead of the boys and returned to the Regalia.
Prompto had also been watching her until she vanished from sight. "You're not scared she'll fly off and never return, Iggy?"
"Not in the slightest," the tactician answered without hesitation. "The bond we share is unquestionable."
"In other words, you both like each other so much you stick together," Gladio smirked with a chuckle.
""Like" is not a plausible word to describe the bond between (Y/n) and I," Ignis corrected the shield. "What we share is far beyond "like"."
"Just saying how I see it."
The advisor's eyes narrowed at him. He wanted to question him, but he walked off before he could. With a sigh, he shook his head and followed after his friends.
During the car ride back to Galdin Quay, (Y/n) was in the backseat with Noctis and Gladio. Descending the windy road leading to their destination, she shoved her head into the prince's pocket, startling him. "H-Hey, (Y/n)!" Looking down, he saw her head pop out of his pocket with the fragment of garnet in her mouth. He wondered what she was going to do with it until he watched her fly out of the car and towards Galdin Quay. "Someone's impatient..."
The skvader was indeed impatient. She was eager to relax on the beach and that would only happen as soon as she could sneak away from the group and transform. She thought delivering the garnet to Dino herself would speed up the process. Why? She wasn't exactly sure.
Landing on the bench beside Dino, she placed the stone down and nudged it towards him with her nose. He picked it up, examining it closely to ensure it was what he asked for. A mix between a smirk and a smile tugged at the corners of his lips. "Would yous look at that? Just what I asked for!" He immediately got to work creating his newest piece of jewelry. (Y/n) watched in amazement as he turned the small stone into a beautiful bracelet with what supplies he had with him. Once he was done, he admired his craftsmanship. "Gotta say, this is my best piece so far."
Just then, the boys arrived. Dino reveals his newest creation to them and handed it to Noctis. "Nice work, kid! Sorry for giving you such a hard time. I just had to get my hands on this, even if it meant blackmail. You understand, don't ya? Y'see, I'm a reporter by day, and an amateur jeweler by night. This elusive little beauty's gonna become a masterpiece. To make it up to you, I'll share a little scoop. That special coin you got-it commemorates the Oracle's ascension. That guy was tossing 'em out to everyone. Musta picked 'em up back in Niflheim. And speaking of freebies, here's one from me. Come back if you wanna buy more!"
Ignis eyed the fine piece of jewelry as Noctis accepted it from Dino. "I doubt a souvenir like that could make its way into the hands of an ordinary citizen."
"Well, it's our pocket change now," Prompto commented.
"As promised, I'm in the process of securing your ferry tickets right now. Told ya, I'm a man of integrity. Should be smooth sailing from here, so lemme know when you're ready to ship out," Dino stated.
The prince crossed his arms. "We've been ready."
"Guess I should've expected that," the reporter cackled. "The ship won't arrive 'til tomorrow! How 'bout you find a place to spend the night?"
Prompto glanced around at his friends. "Do we even have the money to spend the night?"
"We could always go camping instead," the brute spoke up.
"We do have the funds to secure a hotel room. Although, it will be the only one for a while until we procure more funds," Ignis explained.
"No way I'm camping if we can afford a hotel room," Noctis said. "You guys go do that. I'm gonna do some fishing."
"Can't let His Highness go alone," Gladio stated. "I'll go with you."
"Me too!" Prompto waves his hand in the air. "I wanna take pictures of the beach!"
"Then (Y/n) and I shall make arrangements," the advisor informed the others. Noctis, Gladio, and Prompto left the docks to head to the beach. Ignis and (Y/n) headed towards the rooms available inside the restaurant and paid 10,000 gil for one. They entered the large, beautiful room where the spirit changed forms. She sat on the edge of the bed for a few seconds before flopping down on her back. Her (h/c) locks fanned out across the sheets as she stared up at the ceiling.
"Feeling enervated?" Ignis questioned as he had been watching her.
"A little," she confessed. "Sleeping has been difficult to do ever since we left the city. Even napping is difficult."
"Something plagues your mind?" He inquired.
"Nothing like that, but..." The sapphire-eyed girl sat up. She placed her hands in her lap, staring at the floor. "I hear a voice in my sleep, and even sometimes when I'm awake. I've tried to push it aside as nothing, but something tells me I need to listen. Maybe I'm finally going crazy."
"Shall we investigate this voice?"
She shook her head. "No, don't worry about it." Standing up, she walked over to the windows, which made up one entire wall of the room. She admired the beautiful, glistening ocean for some time. She then focused on her reflection in the window. Alongside herself, she saw Ignis sitting down in one of the chairs. He was flipping through the book that held all his recipes. With a huff, she spun around. Her heels clacked against the floor as she walked towards the door.
Ignis looked up the moment she strolled past him. Looking over his shoulder, he called out to her. "(Y/n), where are you heading?"
"The beach. I've been dying to relax ever since we first came here. It'll also help me sort out my thoughts," the guardian replied.
"What of the others?"
"They won't know it's me." She opened the door. "I'll be back soon, Iggy."
Stepping out of the room, she closed the door behind her. Walking through the Mother of Pearl, she could already feel eyes on her as she sauntered by many people. She tried her best to ignore the stares, knowing not many people have seen a guardian due to their scarcity. She clamped a hand over the sapphire gemstone embedded in her chest. She held her breath and sped up her pace so she could reach the exit quicker.
(Y/n) exhaled heavily. She dropped her hand from her chest the moment she was walking across the long boardwalk. She thought she was in the clear, but her eyes widened when she saw Noctis, Gladio, and Prompto were already on their way back. She thought they would've been gone longer. Pushing her thoughts aside, she looked away from them and prayed to the Astrals they would simply stroll past her. However, her prayer went unanswered. The moment her eyes locked with Prompto's, her body tensed. She immediately looked away and continued walking. As she walked past the blonde, she did force herself to look back at him and offer a kind, shy smile.
What she didn't see was Prompto's wide-eyed expression. His jaw was unhinged, hanging in disbelief. He nearly dropped his camera because of the shock he was in. Gladio also took notice of (Y/n), not recognizing who she was. He crossed his arms with a smirk as his eyes watched her head to the beach. "Now there's a woman."
Wondering who his friends were staring at, Noctis looked at the guardian. Just by looking at her, he could feel a sense of familiarity but pushed it aside since he didn't recognize her. He looked away and saw Prompto and Gladio still had their eyes focused on her. "Why're you guys staring?"
"Dude, are you seriously that blind?" Prompto gasped. "We just came across another goddess! That's two in two days!"
"If you're so interested, go talk to her."
"M-Me?"
Gladio smacked him on the back. "Go for it, pipsqueak. If you fail, I'll take over."
"I'll try...."
Meanwhile on the beach, (Y/n) took her heels off and walked across the sand. She didn't mind the sand sticking to the bottom of her tights since she could easily brush it off later. She admired the lapping waves and the various fish swimming around. The salty breeze blew through her (h/c) locks, a sensation she came to enjoy. Even the sun's warmth against her skin felt different. She wasn't sure what it was about the beach that made the sensation different from anywhere else.
A few peaceful minutes ticked by before (Y/n)'s attention was drawn by a small 'click' and a flash. Looking to her left, she saw Prompto with his camera raised. Her eyes widened in surprise at seeing him. She could even see the faint blush on his cheeks, not sure if it was from the sun or embarrassment.
"I-I'm so sorry!" He quickly apologized. "I-I should've asked before taking your picture."
The guardian smiled, desperately trying to suppress her shyness. Morosely, she wasn't successful. "I-It's okay. Is, um...is there something I can help you with?"
The boy shook his head. "N-No, I just thought y-you were really beautiful and it's my job a-as a photographer to capture everything beautiful."
Her smile widened at his pure heart. "That's very sweet of you."
Prompto quickly looked away, his blush deepening. "S-Sorry to bother you."
Before she could reply, he stormed off. She watched him run all the way to the Mother of Pearl, blinking in surprise at how fast he was sprinting. She hadn't expected Prompto to say such a kind, sweet thing to her. Now it was going to be awkward when she would introduce herself to him and the others in the near future.
Sighing, she combed her slightly disheveled hair behind her ears. She closed her eyes for a few minutes, listening to the waves as they lapped against the white sand of the beach. Just like before, her blissful moment was cut short when sensing the presence of another. This time, she was all-too-familiar with the presence and knew who it was before even looking. "Come to join me, Iggy?" Turning her head, she met his emerald gaze. Unlike with Prompto, she didn't stutter. Ignis was the only person she wasn't shy around because of how long they'd been together.
"I have," the strategist answered. "Although under false pretenses."
(Y/n) looked off in the distance and saw Noctis, Prompto, and Gladio watching them closely from the parking lot. They were trying to hide themselves behind one of the vehicles parked. "Oh, no... Is this their plan?"
"More of Gladio's than Noct's or Prompto's."
She placed her heels in the sand. "Is this another bet to see if you can get a woman?" It wouldn't have been the first time the boys had forced Ignis to speak to a woman to see if he did have any charm.
He pinched in the bridge of his nose. "Indeed..."
(Y/n) reminisced in the many memories she's made with him. "Now that I think about it, you never did bring home anyone. I know you're really serious about your dedication to Noctis, but that doesn't mean you don't have time for your own life. Your happiness matters, too."
Ignis casted his gaze to the ocean. He already knew why he hadn't brought home anyone, not even during his high school years. While he had been occupied with juggling school and his duties to the Crown, he always found time for himself in order to keep his sanity in check. Unlike many people his age who were bringing home a special someone, he didn't have to go search for someone who captured his heart. The young woman beside him already captivated his heart without her knowing. He'd been infatuated with her for many years now, but he kept his true feelings bottled up. He was frightened she wouldn't want him in return and even if she did, he was worried he couldn't commit himself fully to the relationship being the advisor of the prince. He didn't want her to feel as if she came second because of his duties.
What Ignis didn't know was that she already felt second in his heart. Ever since formally becoming Noctis' advisor, she was no longer first in his world. She was placed on the back-burner, knowing her life wasn't as important as Noctis'. In her mind, she was disposable. The prince wasn't. Just like Ignis, (Y/n) kept her deepest emotions buried in the darkest corner of her heart. She admired his conviction to his position, not angered in the slightest when she was no longer the most important person to him.
"Ignis?" The guardian gently called out his name after a prolonged silence.
The advisor reconnected his gaze with hers. "Yes?"
"You will find your own happiness, won't you?"
"I will in due time. As should you, (Y/n)."
She didn't care about her own happiness, only his. Faking a convincing smile, she nodded. "I'm sure I will find that special someone soon." It was a bitter lie on her tongue. She clutched the hem of her dress, bunching up the fabric before releasing it. Bending down, she grabbed her heels. Her eyes drifted over to the other boys, smirking slightly when seeing their flabbergasted expressions. "I think we can safely assume you win this bet. Make sure Gladio pays his dues. I'll see you back in the hotel room." She went to walk past him, but stopped. She decided to add a little spice to the mix and kissed him on the cheek. With a prideful smirk, she glanced one last time towards the trio hiding behind a car. "That'll give them something to talk about."
Ignis watched (Y/n) as she slipped on her heels and left the beach. He placed a hand on his hip, remembering how soft her lips were against his cheek. She'd kiss him like that many times before, but this time it felt different. He wasn't sure why, though. From where he stood on the beach, he could hear Prompto's wails of disbelief. He could hear him complaining about how he was able to score a kiss on a cheek from the girl before she left. His own smirk tugged at the corners of his lips, but it never came to fruition. (Y/n) truly did stir up the pot with such a simple action. Now, he would have to spin a tale to prevent the others from figuring out who she truly was.

Sharing: Morning Addition
You and Noctis share a room but you both get your own beds Since it’s struggle to wake the prince in the morning Mama wakes you first with a kiss on the forehead as he pulls back your blanket “It’s time to wake up, little one”
There’s a little but of whining but you sit up and stretch as you yawn and rub your eyes “G’morning mama…” you mumble kissing Ignis on his freshly shaven cheek before sliding out of bed and toddling off the bathroom to brush your teeth, wash your face and take care of business (you’re  a big kid, you don’t need mama’s help anymore)
By the time you get back mama is changing Noctis’ diaper. You flounce over to the changing table to greet the barely awake prince giving him a poke on the cheek “Morning, baby-butt”
“Impeccable timing, pumpkin,” Ignis muses “be a dear and throw this out for me, hm?” and with that mama hands you a tightly bundled dirty diaper, still warm with...what the prince made in it.
“Eeeeeeeewwww!!!” you shriek dropping the stinky package in the diaper pale and quickly cleaning off your hands with a wipe.
Mama chuckled eye still on his task as he powdered up Noctis grabbed a fresh diaper “I was thinking blueberry pancakes for breakfast, what do you think pumpkin?”
Your eyes light up and bounce up and down with glee “Pan-cakes! Pan-cakes! Pan-cakes!” you chant marching out of the room and toward the stairs with mama fallowing behind you with your playmate on his hip
“I’ll take that as a yes, then”

Pond Memories
Tumblr media
Summary: Gladio talks Ignis into being a bit rebellious and joining him for a bit of skinny dipping.  However, there may be more than a handsome Shield in the waters of this unassuming pond.
A/n: This is another fun prompt for my friend @bgn846!
She asked for:'Skinny dipping -- “Something just brushed up against my leg!” '
I instantly had dialogue in my head, but I'll admit that the ending was something I hadn't planned XD
Hopefully it's not too silly an something that will get a good laugh!
You can also read on AO3 at: https://archiveofourown.org/works/25596553
Enjoy, my friends! :D
Word Count: 2303
---------------------------
Ignis couldn’t believe what they had decided to do.  This was ridiculous, juvenile, possibly a bit unsanitary and… thrilling.
“Come on, Iggy, there’s nothin’ to worry about,” Gladio had offered only about an hour earlier as Ignis tidied up his cook station from lunch.  “Prompto and Noct are out fishing and taking pictures and we still have plenty of daylight left.  We’re allowed to have a little fun as well aren’t we?”  As he spoke he moved to stand behind Ignis, his arms wrapping around the lithe Adviser, resting his chin on his shoulder.  “It’ll add a little danger to our day!”
Ignis couldn’t help snorting at the ridiculous comment, bringing a hand up to cover his mouth and hide his smile.  “Darling, our days are literally filled with danger or have you forgotten in your old ag-ah!  Stahpit!” Ignis squeaked as Gladio wriggled his fingers against his sides where they rested, interrupting his teasing with a bout of hysterical giggles.
The attack didn’t last long though and Gladio couldn’t help smiling as Ignis relaxed back in his arms.  “But it’s not the fun sort of danger!  This is… rebellious.  Don’t you ever want to be a wild man?  Live life on the edge?  Go against the norm?”
“I kiss you after you eat garula steak and beans… if that’s not living life on the edge I don’t know wha-ahahaht ihihihis!  S-stop!  I yeheheheild!” Ignis frantically apologized as those teasing fingers found his sides once more and honestly, trapped in the bearhug of his partners arms there was no way he could get free easily.
“You’re just full of piss and vinegar today, aren’t ya?” Gladio chuckled, stopping once more and pressing a few kisses against Ignis’s shoulder as the Adviser caught his breath.  “Come on, Iggy.  Let loose a little!”
And so that was how Ignis found himself standing on the edge of a small pond, slowly unbuttoning his shirt and wondering just how he’d become so easy to sway.
However, as he glanced over to the side and watched Gladio tossing his grey tank top over a low hanging branch and showing off every inch of his well muscled and tattooed torso the answer became abundantly clear.
It didn’t take long for Gladio to notice that he was being watched, however, and as he turned around Ignis felt his cheeks instantly heat up.  Quickly he looked away, taking off his glasses and putting them on top of his shirt which he had folded and set nearby.
“Enjoying the show, Iggy?” Gladio murmured, walking closer and making Ignis feel butterflies bloom in his stomach.
“Don’t be smug.  Smugness doesn’t suit you,” Ignis lied because oh how it suited the man.
Gladio’s wicked smile proved that he knew it as well and he gave a little chuckle before turning back around.  “Uh huh.  Your blush says different,” he teased and Ignis could feel his cheeks growing redder.  “But you better hurry up before the terror twins show back up and wonder where we went.” Ignis gave a little snort at the nickname he had for the two and shook his head.  “We literally left them a note saying that we were going for a swim.  They’ll know to come down here regardless,” he said, taking off his belt and shoes.
Glancing over he saw Gladio scowling at him as he stood as brazen as ever in just his moogle print boxers.  “Yeah, but they don’t know that this little dip is extra rebellious… and what would the kids think if they saw mama Ignis in all his glory?” he teased, making Ignis growl and throw one of his socks at the man who ducked with a laugh.
“First of all, do not refer to me as mama Ignis.  That is for Prompto and Prompto alone.  He is exempt,” Ignis warned before tucking his other sock into one of his shoes.  “And they wouldn’t think anything.  We’ve all had to bathe at least once out here as we’ve roughed it and honestly, if they can look at your hairy arse and not be scarred for li-IFE!”
Ignis had only just stepped out of his trousers and boxers when he felt himself hoisted into the air and unceremoniously tossed into the less then warm waters of their little pond.
Upon resurfacing with a splutter, Ignis only had a moment to try and right himself before he found his rather large and immature partner rushing toward the water.  With a manic grin, moogle print boxers fluttering in the breeze as he tossed them behind himself, Gladio lept toward the water.
“Cannonball!!!” he shouted, launching himself in Ignis direction.  The man couldn’t suppress a  shout of surprise as his darling's ridiculousness sent a massive tidal wave crashing over him.
After resurfacing for a second time, Ignis spat out whatever water had made its way into his windpipe when he’d shouted and wiped the water from his eyes.  Blinking blearily he found Gladio’s smug and smiling face a few inches from his own, a lily pad resting atop his head.
“You were sayin’?” he asked and Ignis reacted on pure, feral instinct and adrenaline.
With a growl and shout he launched himself at Gladio, trying to push the behemoth of a man under water though Gladio was absolutely unphased.
“You are a terrible human being!  How could you just toss me in!?” Ignis growled, still attempting to push Gladio under, but only managing to make the Shield wobble slightly as all he was really accomplishing was climbing him.
“I’m terrible?” Gladio chuckled, wrapping his arms around Ignis and hugging him close as the man struggled half-heartedly to get away.  “You said I had a hairy butt.  That is being terrible.”
“Then use your words to tell me that… don’t toss me into a pond!” Ignis grumbled, attempting to pout before finding his cheeks under a barrage of soft pecks and kisses.  His lips instantly started to quirk up into a smile and he brought his hands up, gently pushing at Gladio’s stubbly face.  “St-stahpit!  I’m… I’m trying to be dihihifficult!”
“Yeah well… this is me apologizing so deal with it,” Gladio chuckled, continuing to pepper kisses against Ignis cheeks until the poor Adviser could barely utter a word through his ridiculous giggles and snorts.
“So… do you forgive me?” Gladio asked as he finally stopped the barrage of kisses, giving Ignis his best puppy dog eyes as the retainer slowly calmed down from the loving attention.
“Astrals save me… yes.  I forgive you.  Now unhand me you lovable brute,” Ignis chuckled, pressing a soft kiss to Gladio’s brow and reaching up to remove the lily pad from his partners head.  After tossing it aside like a frisbee he looked back to his partner, a light smile on his lips.  “So… I’m afraid I’m not sure what a true rebellious skinny dipping experience should entail.”
Gladio chuckled at that, leaning back slightly and doing a little backstroke away from Ignis.  “The rebellious part is that we aren’t wearing swim trunks.  Apart from that it’s just… enjoying a little swim and a little naked solitude away from the other two,” he said lightly, closing his eyes and floating on his back.
Ignis felt his cheeks heating up again, but decided to follow his partner’s example and try to enjoy their ‘naked solitude’ as Gladio had so eloquently put it.
However, as he was debating whether to swim toward the low hanging branches of a nearby willow or toward some black rocks near the edge of the pond he felt something slimy touch or rather slither against his leg…
… and the normally stoic man lost it.
Ignis shouted, instantly kicking his legs and swimming quickly away from the spot, turning back to stare at it with a look of abject horror.
“Something just brushed up against my leg!” he rasped, reaching down to touch said leg to see if there were any traces left of what it might have been.  Glancing up he saw Gladio seven feet away from him, smirking and giving a little quirk of his eyebrow.
Ignis glared daggers at him.
“Don’t flatter yourself, darling…. I love you, but I wouldn’t let you near me with a ten foot pole if that were the case.”
Gladio’s shit eating grin only grew at that.  “I mean…”
“I heard it as soon as I said it!  Don’t you dare say anything else!” Ignis amended quickly, knowing that keeping up with this line of banter would only lead to Gladio becoming insufferable.  “But I’m being serious, Gladiolus!  Something… something is in here and it touched me.”
Gladio lost the smugness when he heard his full name being used, his expression softening as he made his way closer.  “Could it have been a fish?  Some reeds or stems from the lily pads?” he offered, looking down into the water, trying to pinpoint what it was that would have made his normally unflappable partner react like that.
Ignis felt his cheeks heating up as he heard that, wondering if perhaps it had been in his imagination that something slithered against him when it could’ve been as simple as a reed.
At least that’s what he had started to try and tell himself until Gladio turned his back toward him… and Ignis saw the man’s tattoo move.
Ignis stood stock still for a moment, eyes unblinking as he stared at the expanse of Gladio’s back.  He knew every plain of muscle and had traced every feather imprinted on his skin.  There was nothing there that would ever or should ever surprise him.  Blinking rapidly he ran a hand over his face and as he focused on Gladio’s shoulder he saw it again, a little wobble… and then all hell broke loose.
“LEECHES!  IT’S FUCKING LEECHES, GLADIO!” Ignis bellowed, making a mad swim for the edge of the pond as Gladio looked at an Ignis shaped streak race toward shore.
“What?!” Gladio called back, bringing his arm out of the water and finding three of the mother suckers attached to his forearm.
“AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!”
--------------------
“I can’t believe mama Ignis and Gladio would just leave us to fend for ourselves!” Prompto gasped dramatically, fighting a smile as he and Noct looked over the note the Adviser had left at his cook station.
“Right?  How will we ever survive?” Noct deadpanned, rolling his eyes and laughing as Prompto nudged his shoulder lightly.
“No, but honestly.  It’s cool that Gladio got Ignis to go and have a little fun,” Prompto said as he moved away, setting aside his camera on a small table near their camp chairs.
“What makes you think it was Gla-... nevermind, I heard it as soon as I sa-...,” Noct instantly stopped talking.  His eyes turned toward the treeline of their haven as blood curdling screams could be heard echoing in the distance.
Prompto was by Nocts side in an instant, his pistols already drawn as Noct called forth his sword from the armiger.  Both men braced themselves as the sounds of snapping twigs and underbrush could be heard getting louder and closer.
“W-was that…?” Prompto stammered, as Nocts hands tightened on his sword, fear taking over his heart in an icy grip.
“Get ready, Prompto… it’s almost here,” Noct grit out, knowing that whatever was hurtling toward them at breakneck speed had to be dealt with first before they could get into the words and search for their missing friends.
However, nothing could’ve prepared him for what came out into the clearing.
“I CAN FEEL THEM IN MY HAIR!” Gladio shouted, dropping to the ground as he and Ignis burst from the trees, naked as the day they were born.  The Shield instantly began rolling around like a  man possessed as Ignis ruffled his own hair like a maniac, kicking his legs and swatting at them in turn.
“YOU DESERVE IT!  YOU TERRIBLE MAN!” Ignis shouted back, picking something off of himself and throwing it at Gladio with all the accuracy his years of daggers training allowed.  Even in the midst of madness his aim was perfect.
“IT WASN’T MY FAULT!”
“YOU FOUND THE LOCATION!?”
“AND I WAS SUPPOSED TO KNOW SWIMMING VAMPIRES LIVED THERE?!”
Prompto and Noct watched the chaos unfolding before them, their weapons now held limply at their sides.
“Uh… Prom?” Noct whispered, watching as Ignis swatted at his back, picking off another little something and sending it flying toward the Shield.  The larger man still doing an impeccable job of imitating a floundering garula.
“On it!” Prompto shouted, dismissing his pistols and rushing behind Noct.  He returned only a few moments later, camera in hand and snapping as many pictures as his trigger finger could manage.
Noct dismissed his sword as well, watching as Gladio and Ignis continued to shout and rave like crazy swamp people.
“So,” Prompto asked, pausing in his pictures to look over at Noct, his voice strained in an effort to not laugh outright at the sight.  “Do you think we should go and help them?”
Noct glanced from Prompto back to his two retainers.
“HOLD STILL, GLADIOLUS!”
“I CAN’T!”
“YOU HAVE TO IF YOU DON’T WANT TO WALK AROUND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WITH A LEECH ATTACHED TO YOUR ARSE!”
Looking back at Prompto with a quirked eyebrow, Prompto finally couldn’t stop himself from falling into a giggle fit and nodded.  “Good point,” he giggled, turning his camera lens back on the mayhem.
“We’ll at least wait for them to sort out Gladio’s butt.  Then we’ll go help,” the young Prince said, taking a seat on the edge of the haven and listening to the shutter of Prompto’s camera capturing this magical moment.  “I think once Ignis decides not to kill Gladio they’ll appreciate what we’re doing.  It’ll be some… ‘pond’ memories for them.”

Sola/Nox Fusion I
@secret-engima stumbled over the fusion snippet a few months back when I was sick, and couldn’t resist adding to it. XD Warning, it’s pretty angsty (but with Sola being Determined to comfort!) so I’m working on a more light hearted one too.
.
-Sola’s well aware she’s not as good as Noctis or her fellow Retinue. She’s not as smart as Ignis (no one’s as smart as Ignis). She’s not as strong as Gladio (or she won’t be, as soon as Gladio grows a bit more). And she’s nowhere near as magically powerful as Noctis.
-Then she meets Nox, and well. He casually outstrips her in both magical and martial prowess and Sola knows she could train for a hundred years and never catch up.
-Were she younger, Sola might resent them for it. But it’s not their fault, and Sola’s accepted her inferiorities as a matter of fact. So what if she’ll never be as good as her brothers or fellow Retinue? She’ll settle for simply being good.
-But while Sola isn’t the smartest, strongest, or most powerful, she’s sharp. She’s intuitive. Sola notices things, and even if she doesn’t understand, she’ll continue to pay attention until she does.
-The most dangerous thing about Sola, is that when it matters, she knows how to wait.
-And nothing matters to Sola more than family.
.
-There are a lot of things Sola doesn’t know about her twin (because Nox is her twin, they’re the same age and Sola all but leaped on the chance to share her birthday with her new Little Brother when Nox and Uncle Ardyn couldn’t tell them the date).
-What she does know is this: as much as Nox loves their Littlest Brother, and dotes on Noctis as much as Sola herself, there are times when Noctis’ presence hurts. When Noctis is with Gladio and Ignis and Nox has to excuse himself, his magic curling in on itself in sorrow and grief.
-Nox never feels that way around Sola. There’s longing and wistfulness, but never the unending grief that feels like someone has reached inside Sola’s chest and ripped her heart out.
-Sola doesn’t have to ask. It’s obvious. Nox had brothers once. Had a Retinue even if it was one in all but name, and that grief still follows him. And Noctis, who looks so much like Nox, likely reminds Nox of everything he lost.
-So she keeps an eye on her twin and steps in whenever it gets to be too much. Drags him away from Noctis and Gladio and Ignis with the excuse of training instead of forcing Nox to come up with his own excuse or sneak away.
-She comes in swinging when the Council tries to force a Shield on Nox, because she knows Nox lost his first Shield. And she’ll never be able to fathom that pain, that grief, but she will do what she can to protect her little brother from people throwing salt in the wound. She might not know how exactly Axis came to be Nox’s Shield, but she can feel their bond, chosen and accepted and that is all that matters. The Council can take their opinions and jump off a cliff.
-Sola is so attuned to Nox, that she knows when her twin slips into a Quiet Day. Knows when Nox and Noctis wake from resonant nightmares. Knows when Nox’s chronic pain flares and he refuses to take it easy.
-She hunts him down on those days. Sits next to him, so close their arms brush and lets her magic coil about Nox and Uncle Ardyn, resonating all of her protective love, because she might not know why, but there’s something about her presence, her magic, that her newest family respond to in a way they respond to nothing else. When Noctis stumbles into Nox’s rooms, Sola joins them minutes later, and Sola and Noctis bundle Nox between them and cling to him with arms and magic and whispered reassurances.
-And on days when Nox’s pain is worse than normal, Sola tracks him down and sits on him until he lets her soothe the pain with her own magic. Because while Nox hates the idea of Sola hurting because of him, Sola points out - in what he deems an unfair use of logic - that the pain only lasts seconds for her, and Nox is not at fault for Sola’s choices. Sola wants to help, because it’s the only thing she can do and she doesn’t like seeing Nox in pain either! So either he lets Sola ease his pain for the day, or she will get Abyssus to sit on him so he rests.
-(Nox finds it totally unfair that both Uncle Ardyn and Axis take Sola’s side. That Sola threatens to tell Noctis means Nox either takes the healing or rests, because Noctis will turn those wide blue eyes on him and neither Sola or Nox can deny Noctis’ Puppy Eyes. Which Sola takes ruthless advantage of in regards to Nox’s health, darnit.)
-(Sola is a Regret the first time Nox uses the threat of Noctis’ Puppy Eyes against her own Reckless Behavior. Ardyn merely laughs at them.)
.
-Uncle Ardyn is both less and more of a mystery than Sola’s twin.
-Less, because Sola’s actually noticed what everyone else has managed to miss - how, Sola doesn’t know, because sure, Sola looks almost exactly like Mama but she and Uncle Ardyn have the exact same hair color - and Uncle Ardyn being Papa’s illegitimate half-brother explains a lot.
-And maybe Sola shouldn’t have eavesdropped on Uncle Cid telling Papa about his theories of how Uncle Ardyn got some of those scars, but someone had hurt her Little Brother and newest Uncle, and Sola wanted answers.
-So Sola never uses her magic on Uncle Ardyn without asking. Verbally, because Sola feels how Uncle Ardyn all but cringes whenever her magic brushes up against him, as though he’s expecting pain and Sola waits until she’s far away from Uncle Ardyn to let her utter hurt and fury rise. It’s a good thing Mors is dead, because if he weren’t Sola would kill him. Slowly. Painfully. Because how dare he.
-(And Sola doesn’t think about what Mors would have done to her, had he not died. What he would have done to Nox, had Nox been older and born with Sola and Ardyn’s magic. Because Sola knows about Ardyn’s magic, even if Papa doesn’t. She snuck in to look at her brother and Uncle’s medical files. She saw the matching scars on Ardyn and Noctis, and she knows no potion would have healed that damage. And that Ardyn used his magic, with all the trauma attached to it? Sola will always have her Uncle’s back.)
-She tries to help Uncle Ardyn get used to not hostile touch. Carefully, always watching for the moment it’s too much for her Uncle to handle, broadcasting her movements so she doesn’t startle him. The gentlest brushes of magic, love and protection and support.
-And when someone snidely comments on Uncle Ardyn not really being Sola’s Uncle, Sola doesn’t bother with even the idea of restraint as she tears them apart with all the Rage of a dragon protecting her Claimed, because Uncle Ardyn is as much her Uncle as Uncles Cor and Clarus and Cid and Weskham.
-But Ardyn’s also more of a mystery than Nox. Because while Nox’s discomfort with the Hall of Arts is with pretty much the entire Hall, Uncle Ardyn’s discomfort is due to a few very specific pieces about the Founder. And while Sola’s figured out that much she hasn’t figured out why, and that means she can’t fix it.
-So Sola digs out Mama’s loom and forces her way past the grief it causes. Forces her hands to remember how to weave, from drawing the cartoon to setting up the warp, to moving the bobbins. And then she tracks down Uncle Ardyn and Nox and drags them somewhere where no one will overhear before she asks how to help.
-“It hurts you.” She tells them when they blink at her, and she ignores the way Uncle Ardyn’s eyes sharpen, how Nox’s magic curls in on itself with uncertainty. “And you can’t avoid the Hall entirely, you don’t, so let me make something that won’t hurt. Please.”
-Nox gives her a series of photos, landscapes taken by a truly excellent photographer. No people, no historical weight, but there’s meaning all the same.
-Uncle Ardyn’s... Sola knows there must be history in the sketches he gives her. She knows it’s related to the Founder somehow. But she doesn’t understand. And Sola suspects she never will.
-But as she completes the tapestries, as Ardyn takes in the three figures - the dark and fire haired men, and the blonde woman - with glimmering eyes and trembling fingers, grieving but not hurting, Sola thinks she can accept that. Because even if she doesn’t understand, she’s helped.
-That’s what matters.

If. If she's Iggy's MOM, does that mean him and Prompto are raised as siblings/cousins? Megara brings Iggy along when she has to Braincell "Uncle Verstael" bc she's not leaving a baby alone at home and unfortunately Science(TM) waits for nothing, least of all common sense. On Prompto's side, Glaucus was NOT prepared when Besithia whipped up a baby for him and has only a passing idea how to parent, so those first few months especially were full of panicked back-and-forth
alyss-spazz-penedo
with the only baby-worthy member or his Retinue, and chibi!Ignis was a great help in babysitting lil Prompto. Later, when Prompto comes to visit Science Dad, he and Ignis also get to hang out and stuff.
alyss-spazz-penedo
....wait, if she's the mom, who's the DAD? Bc for Ignis to take his mother's name, presumably the father isn't in the picture or they never got married. Or is also... named... Scientia? (If the dad is LITERALLY ANY MEMBER OF GLAUCUS' RETINUE, I might die of laughter. Or secondhand embarrassment.)
Me: .... well considering I really like the idea of her being Iggy’s mom let’s roll with this hypothesis. XDD.
... Yes, yes they WOULD. Actually Megara does not have bby Iggy when she is unceremoniously recruited, since Iggy is only two years older than Noct and she’s recruited at some point before Regis’s canonical road trip. But she DOES have bby Iggy eventually and two year old Iggy is thrilled to watch over tiny bby Prompto with his Mama while Glaucus has a Crisis in the corner. Glaucus is so, SO grateful for Megara’s presence in his life after Prompto happens because on one hand YAY PROMPTO LIVES on the other I HAVE A BABY WHAT DO I DO WITH IT. Megara, who has lived with these clowns for years by this point, doesn’t even bat an eye at the fact that Besithia MADE A BABY and that Glaucus has insta adopted him and is just like “this is your feeding schedule this is your optimal sleep schedule this is how you change a diaper thi-” While Ardyn coos in the background because he adores kids with every fiber of his blackened soul.
Also this means Ignis is also a tiny Mad Science bby, because Obviously Ignis, as a little prodigy that he is, is going to take an interest in anything that interests his bby cousin Prompto and science is a challenge to him. He’s not as much of a science nerd as Prompto, especially not after he’s introduced to bby Noctis and his brain kicks fully over into Mom Mode but he definitely knows enough to get by and chime in when Prompto goes on a tangent.
I have yet to decide who the dad is. If the dad is not a one-night stand, then the dad either takes his wife’s name (because mafia boss wife trumps patriarchy) or-
And hear me out.
Besithia is the dad.
NOT IN THE WAY YOU THINK.
But like- think of the glorious chaos, of Glaucus’s MELTDOWN if, while he’s off somewhere doing his saving the world business and it’s just Megara and Besithia and suddenly Besithia’s lab time is interrupted with Scientia coming in and going, “I want a baby.”
And Besithia very, very slowly sets down his lab tools and ....
Stares at her.
In a quiet befuddled sort of way that indicates he thinks he misheard her but cannot for the life of him come up with an alternate version of what she might have really said.
And she crosses her arms and repeats, “I want. A baby. Of my own.”
Besithia squints, because they’ve known each other for years at this point and he KNOWS she knows Glaucus’s rules on the Cloning Of Human Beings and that she is also not interested in any of the group sexually because they’re basically all her pet idiots, “...I’m fairly certain there are websites for that,” Besithia says slowly.
And the queen of the underworld rolls her eyes, “I do not want to spend the next two or three years dating a male who may or may not work out as a husband, not with the complications of my ‘job’. Nor do I feel like risking a one-night stand or fling, especially not with the people who know of my work.”
Besithia continues to squint, but there is an idea sparking in his eyes, a glimmer of understanding for what she wants, “I can’t clone babies. It’s against the Rules.”
“No, but I am a perfectly functional woman and there are known, legal medical procedures for this. I’m just coming to you rather than a hospital because I don’t want news to get out to the underworld. I’d rather they run themselves in circles trying to figure out who the father is. It will keep them busy.”
Besithia fully turns around in his swivel chair and props his chin on his hands, “If Glaucus finds out about this, you’re taking the blame.”
“Agreed.”
“And I’m going to need time to get the equipment and an adequate male sample.”
“Understood.”
Besithia nods slowly, an manic look blooming that would have disturbed her years ago but now is just normal to her mind, “Any preferences on the donor’s appearance?”
“I like green eyes.”
“Noted.”
And so she wanders off and Besithia gets equipment and bribes someone at a proper hospital for the things he needs and by the time Glaucus checks in from wherever he’s been, Megara is in like- her second trimester and the underworld is losing its mind trying to figure out who the dad is (because if the dad is Glaucus then they are all screwed and they know it). And Glaucus stiffens, mentally checks his calendar, then slowly relaxes because ah yes, Ignis. Then a moment later he’s confused, because who’s the father?
And Megara looks perfectly calm and blasé as she answers, “I don’t know, ask Besithia, he’s the one who picked out the sample. Though it was my idea so don’t be too upset with him.”
And far away in another part of the city Besithia gets a chill up his spine and swears he can already hear Glaucus screeching his name.
That doesn’t stop him from accidentally creating bby Prompto 2 years later but hey.

Annabeth needed answers. She sat on her prayer mat. The room she was in was made and used only for prayers and readings of the holy book, there roof was able to disappear on command so it could be used to talk to the owner of the skies. Annabeth looked up at the night sky filled with stars and whispered. “Oh Lord of the skies, you see all, you are omniscient, please only you can provide answers to a grandmother wanting to protect her grandchild. Only you.” She picked up the dagger Nesta had gotten from Cassian. A dagger she had kept all these years, she had taken it from Nesta’s armoire. This was the first gift between two mates. The first offering, albeit it was unknown to the both of them but it held a significant meaning. She touched it and instantly went into a trance.
Devlon stood in front of Cassian. “Don’t lie to her Cassian.” “You saw the threat, Devlon.” Cassian’s voice broke. “She is in love with you,” Devlon’s voice was disbelieving. “I know…I know.” “You are going to hand her over to that-to that monster?!” “I don’t own her… she’d never forgive me if I didn’t” his final whisper rang out the vision.
Annabeth was pushed out as a voice said, “Let it be, Mamma.” Annabeth let out a cry, “Addie!! Adelaide…are you here?!!” A figure made of some light stood in front of her. It was Adelaide Archeron’s ghost.
She smiled as her image stuttered a bit the blue glow around her fading.
Annabeth walked forward, “Is it really you Addie?”
Adelaide nodded, her image stuttered again this time more violently, “I can’t stay long Mamma. I-I’ve spent most of my energy protecting Nesta through the transition.”
“That was you..?” Annabeth stepped towards her but a fear in her daughter’s eyes held her back.
“Addie what have you given to be here?”
Adelaide smiled sadly, “My family needed me. I had to do it. I… I can talk to you for a short time only if you need me…But whenever I touch anyone living who I love to protect them with my powers…It pains me…my aura dims.”
Annabeth shook her head at the cruelty. Adelaide had to protect Nesta through her… ‘transition’ as she called it and the only way she could’ve been able to protect a living person was only if she touched them.
She would not let her daughter’s sacrifice go to waste.
“I need answers my love, what should I do?”
Adelaide’s smile died, “You know what you need to do, Mamma. You have been avoiding it because you fear what happened to me will happen to Nesta.”
Annabeth stiffened, “Is it wrong I want to protect my grandchild?”
“Yes. If you never let go then she won’t be able to survive this. You tried to stop the prophecy before and you not only tried to stop the inevitable you were punished…I died and you never found out. Don’t let that happen to Nesta. She grew up alone just keep on reminding her that…I-” a tear slid down her face-“That you are there for her.”
The door opened softly and Vera stepped in, Adelaide smiled at the sight of her mother-in-law.
“Hello Addie, I sensed you were here.”
Adelaide smiled, “Hello Mama Vera.”
Vera smiled sadly, “It’s time isn’t it?”
Adelaide nodded at her and turned to her mother as her image started fading.
“It’s time you told Nesta the truth Mamma.”
“You need to tell her the prophecy.”
The blue glow was the last thing left in the room, the remnants of a person who does not live.
-----------------
6 Months Later
Feyre was expecting the Royal Family of Rask to come to the River Estate. She smiled as she expected Nesta to be in front of the door but there was only a frantic Jonah.
“Nesta is gone.”
Feyre hadn’t seen Nesta since the… outburst in Illyria. But she expected her to be in Rask at the least.
“What do you mean she’s gone?”
“Gone…disappeared. Poof.”
“Jonah Astor Archeron you are a mated male, a husband and a father. I do not expect you to use the word ‘Poof’.”
His mate Caroline came up behind him. She turned to Feyre,
“There is an explanation to Nesta’s disappearance.”
“An explanation that no one has told me! Where is she Caro?”
Jonah was exasperated, to say the least. He turned to Feyre,
“Can’t you use your voo doo magic to find her?”
Feyre tried to find words to explain her ‘voo doo’ magic-
“OK FINE! Another person who doesn’t give a shit about Nesta! I’ll just go to Helion or Eris.”
Feyre and Caro both exclaimed at once “HEY”
And Jonah turned around, “What?”
Caro spoke first “we get you’re worried about Nesta… we are too.”
Feyre added, “And I am worried about her…it’s just…if Nesta wants to stay lost to us then she will. We can’t stop that.”
Jonah sneered, “Is that what you told yourself when you exiled a rape survivor to a sexist camp where what a male says goes?”
Feyre felt night flicker behind her as Rhysand appeared, as her whole family did.
Elain said, “Jonah that is not fai-”
Annabeth winnowed next to Jonah.
“Now, now children. Let’s not fight.”
She turned to Feyre as Vera gave a nod and look of heavy approval to Jonah’s comment.
“We need to talk.”
------------
They all sat down as Rhys waved a hand at the book in Annabeth’s hand.
“What is that? Its power is interfering with mine.”
Annabeth smiled “this is the holy book.” Her smile died “It holds a prophecy that holds the destiny of everyone in this room.”
Well straight to the point then. Audrey thought.
The colour drained from everyone’s face.
Vera said, “Nesta asked us to not tell you because and I quote ‘they’ve been through too much with the war’-”
“She did?” Elain asked, astonished.
Vera nodded, “Yes she did but we… well we don’t really care.”
“No!” Annabeth said, “We do care but we feel it is necessary for you to know.”
“Sure.” Vera said under her breath
Annabeth touched the covers of her book.
“Brace yourselves.” Was the only warning as she opened the book and a glow appeared a voice that seemed like time itself spoke.
When the moment comes that rivers run dry, a surrender shall usher forth the return of dragons. Once the sky burns with fire, the banished one shall bring the rise of hope and an age of magic.
When the time comes that lightning strikes twice, a challenge shall bring forth the rise of a new evil
It shall be on the day that rivers run dry, a silver haired woman shall usher forth an age of tranquillity and an age of anarchy. Upon the day the moon turns bright, the accused shall bring forth the return of monsters.
Once what's shrouded is revealed, the lost one shall bring forth the end of peace
Two kingdoms of brutality and riches and culture will join in matrimony and grandeur.
There comes a day when the dark one returns, a broken heart shall bring forth the rise of a kingdom and a shift in power.
  Feyre shivered.
“It’s not talking about Nesta is it…?”
“I am afraid it is.”
Jonah let out a breath, “When-when I saw her in the market…she had the under layer of her hair coloured silver. I asked her if she got it dyed but…”
Caro held out her hand squeezing her mate’s,
“That wasn’t a choice baby.”
He looked at her fear shining in her eyes,
“It’s started? My sister…”
Elain let out a jagged breath and turned to Azriel.
“The last line of the prophecy, ‘When the day comes that what's shrouded is revealed,’ do you think that’s the coffin I saw in my dreams?”
Everyone stilled.
Feyre stood, “You’re having more dreams?”
Elain nodded and took a pen and paper from a nearby table.
And wrote ‘ignis caelestis’.She handed it to Vera,
“That is what was written on the side.”Vera’s hands shook as she passed the sheet to Annabeth.
“The celestial fire.” She translated.
Feyre shot a questioning look at Rhys who shook his head. He didn’t know.
Before Feyre could ask a knock broke the silence.
Luna stormed in, Lily and Audrey behind her.
“We found Nesta-“
“Where?!” Vera demanded shooting up.
All colour drained out of Audrey’s face and Feyre noticed the shadows that had settled over the days of searching for Nesta.
“Last we heard she was talking to Helion. She was showing him the scroll of the prophecy.”
Vera smiled and turned to Annabeth, “See Anna. I told you my granddaughter wouldn’t do anything stupid.”
She turned back to Audrey, “Well come on then let’s go.”
“We can’t,” Lily said.
“Helion has shut the golden city. Everyone except him and his ministers and Nesta have been evacuated with immediate effect.”
------------
Cassian slammed the wall. He shouldn’t even have been in Velaris today but after hearing the Rask royal family were coming for dinner he had forced himself to go. The coiling feeling of unease in his gut begged him not to.
He should’ve listened.
And now…God knows what was happening.
A little messenger boy came bustling in as if he had been forced to do send the bad news.
“Um my King, I-I-“
Cassian tried a grim smile, “Can I help you?”
“Um- there have been sightings of the High Lord of Dawn and Autumn and the Princess of Adriata entering the golden city.”
Cassian furrowed his brows, “I- just the princess of Adriata? Not the High Lord? Are you sure of this information?”
“Yes sire.”
At the same time Azriel winnowed into his office Lady Vera at his side, and nodded at the boy.
Cassian knew he had bad news from the look on his face.
“What now?!” He fumed.
Azriel’s eyes were filled with sadness as Vera said.
“Cassian we need you to come with us. Please don’t say no. We need to see your father.”

You watched in horror as the city of Insomnia fell before you. Ardyn's hand rested on your side as he held you close, a smile on his face. Tears welled up in your eyes as you stood there frozen in place. How could you let this happen? It was your duty as a Kingsglaive to help protect the city, its people, and the King, and you failed all because you decided to let the Chancellor have his way with you. Soon you would be heading to the town, Lestallum, to deal with the Archaeon Titan.
"What the hell have you done?!" You pushed Ardyn but you were weak compared to him. He didn't even move an inch. "What the hell have I done? Darling... I am merely doing what must be done. Better yet what the hell have you done? Ah. That's right. You were too busy letting me bed you. Such a shame really. You truly are a beauty." "You're a fucking monster." You snipped, tears rolling down your cheeks as you stared up at him. "Oh, you haven't seen me as a monster yet." He said gripping your jaw firmly, leaning down and bringing his face down until it was level with yours. "We're just getting started, love."
Wrong move... You snarled and spit in his face. Your brows furrowed as you tried to hold back more tears and the urge to stab him. Ardyn snarled and backhanded you across the face before gripping your hair tightly, ringing almost deafening you from the smack. You winced as your hands shot back to claw at his wrist. He wiped the spit from his face and glared down at you; he looked as if he was fighting with his own mind before pulling you into his quarters that were located on the airship. Your heart was pounding against your chest as he slammed you against the door, pinning you against himself and the cold metal of the door.
All you could do was sob as you pressed your hands against his chest staring at him with tear-filled eyes. Something changed in Ardyn as he moved his hand down to your cheek, wiping your tears away with his thumb. You snaked your arms around him and hugged him tightly as you attempted to stop your tears, your body shaking with panic while your heart stung with a pang of guilt. Ardyn shushed you softly, his hand soothing the throbbing ache from the assault on your scalp as he petted you softly. He picked you up bridal style and carried you to his bed where he kept you on his lap, holding you against himself.
"No need to cry. You did a great service to the Imperials and to the Crown City. This was needed my dear pet. Do not feel such guilt. I am proud of you for letting me in... for being at my side." He cupped your face and made you look into his golden eyes. "You're too beautiful to be a Kingsglaive. Be my maiden. I will ensure you will have a life of luxury." "And if I refuse?" "You won't refuse me-." "What makes you so sure?" "It's simple." He brought his face close to yours again, his lips brushing against yours causing you to part your lips and eyes to flutter closed. "You can't resist me. All I have to do is snap my fingers and you'll be running to me. Look at you. So eager for my lips. Aren't you?"
Ardyn pressed his lips to yours, proving that he was correct when you melted like putty in his hands. Your fingers gripping the silk material of his undershirt as you squeezed your eyes shut. You tried your hardest to fight the urge but failed miserably. He pulled away with a chuckle, a smirk painted on his lips as his thumb rubbed your cheek softly.
You walked the streets of Lestallum as Ardyn went off to do some business with the Imperials. Luckily for you he left you a good amount of funds to be able to pamper yourself, get whatever food you wanted, and other things. As you rested against the stone railing of the overlook a familiar face came up beside you.
"Y/N?" You turned to see the strategist, Ignis Scientia, a long time friend of yours. "Ignis! I'm so fucking happy to see you." You wrapped your arms around him tightly, burying your face in the crook of his neck as your emotions took over again. "I'm so sorry. I-I failed Noctis. I failed Lucis. I'm so sorry." "Shh. It's quiet alright." He wrapped his arms around you, resting his head against yours as he rubbed your back softly. "I was so worried about you, love. Come now. The others are out with Iris. Let us go to my room."
You pulled back and nodded, sniffling as he used one of his gloved hands to brush your tears away. You couldn't help but smile back at him as he gave you a soft smile but this smile was genuine and full of true happiness and relief for being reunited with your friends again. Once in his room, Ignis had you sit on the end of his bed while he made you some tea. He took notice that you weren't in your Kingsglaive garb and sat beside you while the tea steeped, taking his gloves off and sitting them beside himself. You looked drained, destraught, and like you've been through hell and back.
"Tell me what happened." "I was assigned to watch Chancellor Izunia of Nifleheim as they stayed in Insomnia for the signing. He um-He... I was made to stay with him no matter what and things went into chaos and.. and then I was being dragged onto the Dreadnought... all I could do was watch as the city burned. Ignis. I'm so sorry." "Shh, Y/N. It's alright." You felt your heart skip a beat as he placed his hand on your cheek, tilting your head until you were looking into his eyes. "You're here now. That's all that matters." "Oh, Iggy..." The memory of being under Ardyn flashed into your mind. Without thinking you pressed your lips to Ignis's; wanting so bad to forget the wrong you have done.
Instead of pulling away, Ignis's free hand moves down to your hips, pulling you on top of him and allowing you to straddle his hips. Your fingers gripped his shirt, wrinkling it as you deepened the kiss and coaxing a moan from his lips. Ignis gripped your hips as he leaned back, his erection straining against his tight pants. He swallowed your moans as you rocked your hips into his.
Ignis flipped you over onto your back, undoing his shirt and ripping it off without pulling away from the kiss. You whimpered, rocking your hips into his as you fumbled with his belt and pants, pushing them and his briefs down until his cock sprung free. He pulled away briefly, pulling your clothes off. You blushed as he ran his hands up and down your body, a smile on his face. "You're very beautiful. I... I've wanted to go this for a long time. I just never had the nerve to express my feelings toward you." "And I the same, Iggy. I've wanted so badly to kiss you but I didn't think you'd feel the same way. Please have me." You gasped as he positioned himself at your entrance, using a hand to guide himself into you. The stretch made your back arch as you felt every inch slipping inside of you until he was sheathed fully inside. Ignis stilled, letting you adjust to his size as he pressed his lips to yours. When he felt you clench around him he let out a groan, his hips jolting forward out of reaction. A moan left you as your fingers gripped his arms. His fingers gripped the blankets as he stared into your eyes, resting his forehead against yours as he rolled his hips into yours, the tip of his cock brushing against your sweet spot making you shiver beneath him. He took notice and kept rocking his hips, your name spilling from your lips as he told you how beautiful you are and how much he cared about you. Soon you were crying out his name, your back arching up into him as he brought you closer to your orgasm. Your legs shook violently as he kissed and bit at your neck leaving bruises here and there to remind you who made you feel a million gil. " 'M... I'm cumming, Ignis. Please." "Come with me, love. Let me see how good I make you feel.... Shit..." A few more thrusts and you came undone, the feeling of his cum filling you as you spasmed, milking him and him making him shake. "I-I love you, Ignis. So much." "I love you too. I've got you now." ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ A few days later you were walking with Ignis, Noctis, Prompto, and Gladio to the overlook to take a closer look at the Disc to see if you guys could get a hold of what was giving Noctis such extreme headaches. You froze, gripping Ignis's hand as soon as you saw him... your skin going pale. "My my... what a coincidence." Ardyn turned, a smirk on his face as his eyes landed on you.

Chocobo and His Chocobean(s)
Yeah, this is a bit late for Father’s Day, but I couldn’t help myself 😋
WC: 1116
“Papa!” Your daughter giggled, her blonde hair streaming behind her like a banner as she ran up to her father. A smile split your face as she launched herself into Prompto’s arms, laughing uncontrollably as she latched onto him.
“Hey there, Chocobean,” the gunslinger chuckled, holding your daughter close. You watched the two with a smile, chin resting in the palm of your hand. Just a few years ago, you never thought that you and Prompto would be here, living in Insomnia with your daughter. Ever since Noct had brought the dawn back and had taken his rightful place as king, life had been a dream. After finding out you were pregnant shortly after the dawn, everything had progressed very quickly. Prompto had always wanted to marry you -- preferably before you two started a family -- but when Noct had come back and they were to leave for the city the next day, that plan was quickly scrapped. Neither of you knew whether he would be coming back or not. And by the end of the first month after the sun returned, you and the king’s best friend were wed.
Now, you watched Prompto with his carbon-copy, happier now than you had ever been before. When Solis had been born -- gods, has it already been five years? -- you had known immediately that she would look exactly like her father, and turns out you had been right. She had his bright blond hair and blue-violet eyes -- even had a light dusting of freckles over her cheeks.
“Papa, come play with me!” Solis squealed as Prompto attacked her with kisses. Just watching them caused you to squint -- it was too much like looking into direct sunlight.
“In a little bit, Chocobean,” Prompto’s voice was level, and Solis used her trump card -- the signature Argentum pout. But her father had long since gotten used to it -- he did it to you whenever he wanted something, too -- and pressed a kiss to her cheek. “Don’t worry. I promise, I’ll play with you soon. I just need to talk to Mama for a second, ‘kay?”
Solis’s pout never left her lips as Prompto set her down, making his way towards you. He wrapped you in his arms, noses touching and breaths mingling together.
“Hey, Sunshine,” you cooed, arms coming to rest on your husband’s shoulders. Prompto hummed as he slouched slightly, pressing a kiss to the corner of your mouth. A giggle escaped your lips at his display of affection. “Good day, I take it?”
“One of the best,” he muttered. His lips captured yours in a proper kiss, smiling against yours.
“Hope you’re ready for it to get better.”
***
“I never asked, how were you today?” Prompto’s arms wrapped around your middle, pulling you into his chest. His nose nuzzled against your neck, and his lips grazed your skin. The feel of his breath against your skin sent a shiver down your spine.
“We were good,” you smiled. You felt his chest puff out before he sighed against your shoulder.
“That’s good…” Prompto’s forehead found its place on your shoulder as his arms tightened around you. Shaking your head at your cuddlebug of a husband, you continued working on dinner -- Peppery Daggerquill Rice. After having begged Ignis for the recipe years back, you really only make it for special occasions, such as today. Knowing the blond behind you, he probably thought that it was because it was Father’s Day. Oh, how wrong he would be…
“Dinner’s almost ready, Sunshine. Could you go get Sol?” you asked. Prompto groaned, wanting nothing more than to keep holding you, but untangled himself regardless. He knew better than most anyone how much your daughter loved spicy foods -- no doubt because of her father. You plated the food, balancing three plates in your arms. Thank the Six I used to work at a diner, you thought as you made your way to the dining table. Seconds later, Prompto appeared with Solis on his shoulders, the two smiling broadly.
“Ready to eat, you two?” Not like you had to ask, as both quickly took their seats. Shaking your head and smiling to yourself, you took your own seat -- across from Prompto and to Solis’s right.
Dinner was filled with chatter, from Prompto telling you two about his day, to Solis chattering animatedly about school. Before you knew it, all three of you had finished your food. You were standing in the kitchen and washing the dishes when you felt a tug on your shirt. Looking down into bright blue-violet hues, you smiled. Solis motioned for you to crouch down, and you did. She cupped her small hands around your ear.
“Can I show Papa now?” she whispered, causing you to smile. You nodded quickly, watching as her face was split with a brilliant smile before she raced to her room. Prompto watched her, brows furrowed in confusion as his eyes met yours. But you refused to clarify, and heard your daughter’s footsteps as she flew down the stairs.
“Papa, Papa! Look!” she jumped around excitedly, a piece of paper in her hands and a smile on her face. “Happy Father’s Day, Papa!”
You finished wiping off the last dish and dried off your hands, walking into the living room to watch the gunslinger’s reaction. The tender smile on his face as he took Solis’s drawing made your heart melt on the spot as you leaned against the doorframe. Blue-violet eyes scanned over the drawing -- the four figures that stood in front of a big house. His smile fell slightly as realization hit him. Four figures?
Face screwed up in confusion, Prompto’s eyes lifted to yours, taking in your relaxed smile but still getting no answer. Instead, he turned to his daughter.
“Who’s this?” he asked, pointing at the smallest figure. He was nearly blinded by her smile.
“My baby brother!”
***
“(Y/n)?” Prompto’s voice was uncertain as he approached you. He was coming towards you slowly, as if you were a wild beast. Arms outstretched, his fingers finally curled around your forearms, eyes pleading with you for an answer. “What’s going on? Are you alright?”
Giving him your brightest smile, you threw your arms around him, a laugh bubbling from your throat when he stumbled backwards a few steps. He was quick to regain his balance, calloused hands gripping your waist.
“I hope you wanted more than one kid, Sunshine,” you laughed, bringing his face to yours. His eyes were wide, and he almost looked … scared, scared that this was a dream. Pressing a kiss to his nose, you whispered, “Happy Father’s Day, Prompto.”
