Prompt 104
Danny finds himself reincarnating, giving it a try so to say. A new start of sorts, though he knows that Tucker will also be somewhere in the world and Sam will be keeping an eye whenever she’s not working on her uh, internship with Overgrowth.
He somehow, despite being in a world of heroes and villains, ends up reincarnating into some sort of assassin cult. Apparently he is keeping the Fenton luck despite a new life. Along with his white hair from his ghost form. Which is understandable with how there’s an ecto-pool in the room over.
He’s pretty sure his father is a fruitloop too, maybe. Well, technically he was a fruitloop for a human, but again. Ecto-pool that he was apparently taking dips in. At least this time he has some baby sisters- even if the toddler one keeps trying to stab him.
 Honestly, feels like home.

The Boy Who Was Sacrificed
The Boy Who Was Sacrificed is a legend of the Pawnee nation highlighting the belief that everything happens for a reason according to the will of Ti-ra'wa ("Father Above"), the supreme creator, and how even the smallest creatures have an essential part to play in the divine plan and are as worthy of respect as any other.
The story is among the best-known Pawnee legends, not only for its message but also because it features the sacred site of Pahaku (also known as Pahuk, Pahuk Hill, in modern-day Nebraska) which is considered the most supernaturally potent of five such sites (all mentioned in the tale) where the Nahu'rac – sacred animals who serve the will of Ti-ra'wa – have their homes. The Nahu'rac are mediators between the Pawnee and Ti-ra'wa, receiving messages from the divine and acting upon them, as well as sending along the prayers and sacrificial gifts of the people to the Father Above. The Nahu'rac appear in several Pawnee tales, including The Bear Man, which is, in part, an origin tale of the Pawnee Bear Dance.
In this story, a man acts on his belief that he must sacrifice his only son to receive blessings from Ti-ra'wa, but his offering is rejected through the intervention of the "little bird" (most likely the Interior Least Tern, a small bird that lives along the Platte River in Nebraska) who recognizes the boy should not have been killed and convinces the Nahu'rac to restore him. The reluctance of the Nahu'rac to act on this immediately would be due to their uncertainty as to whether the little bird, who is their servant, is acting in the interests of Ti-ra'wa or his own, but once the bird demands the boy be restored, it is assumed the Nahu'rac interpret this as a message from Ti-ra'wa.
Their hesitation might also reference a ritual in which one must visit the other four sites before returning to Pahaku to be made whole, as in another famous Pawnee tale, A Story of Faith, in which a young doctor is poisoned by another who is jealous of his skill and is taken by an elk round the homes of the Nahu'rac before he is cured. In that story, as in this one, the little bird plays a significant role in healing the young doctor.
In The Boy Who Was Sacrificed, once the boy is brought back to life, he receives the kind of blessings his father had hoped for but was denied. The story's central theme of good coming from bad frequently characterizes Pawnee tales, which emphasize the goodwill of Ti-ra'wa toward the people and how this is shown through one's interactions with the natural, or even the supernatural, world. In The Ghost Wife, for example, a Pawnee man convinces the ghost of his departed wife to return to him, and even though this does not work out as well as he had hoped, the story has a happy ending, as is also the case of this story of the boy and the mystical site of Pahaku.
Pahaku is still understood as a sacred site by the Pawnee in the present day, and in 2008, a conservation easement was granted for 257 acres (104 ha), including the sacred site, to be dedicated to perpetual preservation. Stories concerning the site, like The Boy Who Was Sacrificed, are still told in Pawnee communities, continuing the tradition of storytelling as the central means of transmitting cultural values and history.
Text
The following text is taken from Pawnee Hero Stories and Folk-Tales by anthropologist and historian George Bird Grinnell, first published in 1889. The original date of composition for the story is unknown as it was passed down through oral tradition until recorded by Grinnell.
THERE was a time, far back, when some people thought that it was good to sacrifice to Ti-ra'-wa whatever they had that was most precious to them. The sacrifice of the animal, the burnt offering, has always been made by all the Pawnees; that is one of the things handed down from the ruler. It is very old. The Skidi have always performed the sacrifice of the captive. Each one of these is sacred and solemn, but it is not like giving up something that belongs to you, and that you love. It is a sacrifice, but it does not cost much.
Many years ago, in the Skidi village on the Loup, there lived a man, who believed that if he sacrificed his son to Ti-ra'-wa, it would be a blessing to him. He thought that if he did this thing, perhaps Ti-ra'-wa would speak to him face to face, and that he could talk to him just as two people would talk to one another, and that in this way he would learn many things that other people did not understand. His child was a nice boy about ten years old, strong, growing up well, and the man loved him. It made him feel badly to think of killing him. He meditated long about this, but the more he thought about it, the more he believed that this sacrifice would please Ti-ra'-wa. There were many things that he wanted to understand, and to do; and he thought if he gave up his son, these good things would come to him. So, he resolved to make the sacrifice.
One morning he started out from the village and took the boy with him. They went over to the Platte. When they got to the river, as they were walking along, the man took his knife from its sheath, and caught the boy by the shoulder, and stabbed him quickly, and cut him open. When the boy was dead, he threw the body into the river, and then went back to the village. When he got there, he went into his lodge and sat down. After a time, he said to his wife, "Where is the boy?" The woman said, "He went out with you, when you went over to see the horses." The man answered, "No; I went out to where the horses are feeding, and looked at them, but he did not go with me."
The man went out, and looked for the boy all through the village, but he could not find him. At night when the boy did not come home, they began to get frightened, and for two days they hunted for the boy, and at last they got the old crier to call out for him from the top of the lodge, and ask if anyone had seen him, but none of the people knew what had become of the boy. Now the mother was mourning, and the father pretended to feel very badly. They could not find the boy; and soon after this the tribe started on the summer hunt, and the father and mother went with them. The village made a good hunt, killing plenty of buffalo, and made much dried meat.
After the boy had been thrown into the river, he floated down with the current, sometimes turning over and over in the swift water, and sometimes grounding for a little while on a sand bar, and then being floated off again, and being carried further down. At length he came near to the place where the whirlpool is, under the bluff at Pa-hŭk', where is the lodge of the Nahu'rac. There were two buzzards sitting on the bluff, just above this place, and as they sat there, one of them stretched out his neck and looked up the river, and after he had looked, he said to the other, "I see a body." Then both the buzzards flew down to where the boy was floating in the water, and got down under him, and raised him on their backs, and lifted him up out of the water, and flew up to the bluff, carrying the boy on their backs, and placed him on the ground on top of the bluff over the big cave, which is the home of the Nahu'rac. In this lodge were all kinds of animals, and all kinds of birds. There were bears, and mountain lions, and buffalo, and elk, and beaver, and otter, and deer, all kinds of animals, great and small, and all kinds of birds.
There is a little bird, smaller than a pigeon. Its back is blue, and its breast white, and its head is spotted. It flies swiftly over the water, and when it sees a fish, it dives down into the water to catch it. This bird is a servant or a messenger for the Nahu'rac. Such a bird came flying by just as the buzzards put the body on the ground, and he stopped and looked at it. When he saw how it was—for he knew all that had happened—he flew down into the lodge and told the Nahu'rac about the boy. The bird said, "There is a boy up here on the hill. He is dead, and he is poor, and I want to have him brought to life again." Then he told the Nahu'rac all the things that had happened. When the messenger bird had done speaking, the Nahu'rac earnestly counselled together for a long time to decide what should be done, and each one made a speech, giving his opinion about the matter, but they could not make up their minds what ought to be done.
The little bird was coaxing the Nahu'rac, and saying, "Come, now, we want to save his life." But the Nahu'rac could not decide. At last, the chief of the Nahu'rac said, "No, messenger, we cannot decide this here. You will have to go to the other council lodges and see what they say about it." The bird said, "I am going," and flew swiftly out of the lodge and up the river, till he came to the Nahu'rac lodge near the Lone Tree. When he got there, he told them all about the boy, and said that the council at Pa-hŭk' could not decide what should be done. The Nahu'rac here talked, and at last they said, "We cannot decide. The council at Pa-hŭk' must decide." Then the bird went to the lodge on the Loup, and the Nahu'rac there said that they could not decide Then he went to Kitz-a-witz-ŭk, and to Pa-hūr'; and at each place the Nahu'rac considered and talked about it, and then said, "We cannot decide what shall be done. The council at Pa-hŭk' must decide for themselves."
At last, after he had visited all the council lodges of the Nahu'rac, the bird flew swiftly back to the lodge at Pa-hŭk' and told them there what the animals at the other lodges had said. In the council of the Nahu'rac at Pa-hŭk', there were four chiefs, who sat there as judges to determine such matters as this, after they had all been talked over, and to decide what should be done. When the messenger bird came back and told the Nahu'rac what the other councils had said, these judges considered for a time, and then spoke together, and at length the chief of the judges said to the bird, "Now, messenger, we have concluded that we will not decide this question ourselves. You decide it and say what shall be done."
The messenger was not long in deciding. He did not hesitate. He said, "I want this boy brought back to life." Then all the Nahu'rac stood up, and went to where the boy lay, and stood around him and prayed, and at last the boy breathed once, and then after a little while he breathed again, and at last he came to life and sat up. He looked about and saw all these animals standing around him, and he wondered. He said to himself, "Why, my father stabbed me, and killed me, and now here I am among this great crowd of animals. What does this mean?" He was surprised.
The Nahu'rac all went back into the lodge and took the boy with them. When all were seated in the lodge, the four judges talked to each other, and the chief one stood up, and said, "Now, my people, we have brought this boy back to life, but he is poor, and we must do something for him. Let us teach him all we know and make him one of us." Then the Nahu'rac all made a noise. They were glad. Then they began to sing, and they danced. They taught the boy all their secrets, and all their ways. They taught him how to cut a man open and cure him again, and how to shoot an arrow through a man and then cure him, and how to cut a man's tongue out and then to put it back, and how to make well a broken leg, and many other things. After they had done all these things, they said to the boy, "Now we have brought you back to life, and have taught you all these things, so that you are one of us. Now you must stop with us one season. Your people have gone off on the summer hunt. You must stay with us until the autumn. Then you can go back to your people." So, the boy stayed with the Nahu'rac in their lodge.
At length the Skidi had returned from the hunt with plenty of dried meat. Soon after this, the Nahu'rac said one day to the boy, "Your people have got back from the hunt. Now you can go back to the village. Go back and get a lot of nice, dried meat, and bring it back to us here, and we will have a feast."
The boy went home to the village. He got there in the night, and went to his father's lodge, and went in. There was a little fire burning in the lodge. It was nearly out, and gave only a little light, but he knew the place where his mother slept. He went up to her, and put out his hand and touched her, and pushed her a little. She awoke, and sat up and looked at him, and he said, "I've come back." When she saw him, and heard him speak, she was very much surprised, and her heart was glad to see her boy again. She called to his father, and he woke up. When he saw the boy, he was afraid, for he thought it was a ghost. The boy told them nothing of what had happened, or where he had been. He just said, "I have come back again."
In the morning all the people were surprised to hear that he had come back, and to see him, and they stood around looking at him, and asking him questions, but he said nothing. The next day the people still questioned him, and at last the boy said, "I have been all summer with friends, with people who have been good to me. I should like to take them a present of some nice, dried meat, so that we can have a feast." The people said that this was good. They picked out four strong horses, and loaded them with dried meat, the nicest pieces. The boy's father gave some of it, and all the other people brought pieces and put them on the horses, until they had big loads. They sent two young men with the boy, to help him load and drive the horses, and they started to go to the Nahu'rac lodge at Pa-hŭk'.
When they had come pretty near the place, the boy sent the young men back to the village, and he went on alone, driving the packhorses before him. When he reached the home of the Nahu'rac, he unloaded the horses, and turned them loose, and then went into the lodge. When he went in, and when the Nahu'rac saw him, they all made a hissing noise. They were glad to see him. The boy brought into the lodge all the dried meat, and they had a great feast. After the feast they had a doctors' dance, and the boy was made a doctor, and again was taught all that the Nahu'rac knew. After that he could do many wonderful things. He could sometimes go to a man that had been dead for a day, and then bring him back to life.
No one ever knew what the father had done, for the boy never told anyone. He knew that he could never have learned all these wonderful things unless his father had sacrificed him.

WIP Wednesday
A bit of a random one… an OC viewpoint on a wee!Tracy.
It was the first day of the academic year and Felicity Miles had already broken her resolution to actually leave school at a reasonable time. She glanced at the brightly coloured clock suspended over the electronic whiteboard and sighed as she calculated her chances of catching the next bus home to be almost precisely zero. There wouldn’t be another for an hour… well at least she wasn’t in a rush now. As long as everything was gone by the morning so the cleaner didn’t report the damage, all would be well.
Turning her attention back to the task in hand she averted her eyes as she sprayed a little more of the concentrated bleach on the table top and then recommenced scrubbing with the wire brush she’d lifted from the school kitchens.
Learning points from today:
- give the kid more paper
- don’t leave sharpies lying around.
She finally obliterated the carefully written ‘26/104’ and moved on to ‘27/108’.
It was likely not the most efficient approach to erase one fraction at a time but she felt strangely compelled to follow the pattern through in the same way the fascinated little dark haired boy had.

That was as far as most of the class had got before they moved on to the next task. Based on the report of their previous teacher she hadn’t expected this one to have got even that far. Apparently getting him to stay in his seat or focus on anything that didn’t involve airplanes or running very fast for 3 minutes or more was considered a win.
She frowned. The unspoken hint that they’d given up on him had put her hackles up. He was clearly a bright kid. Very. He also spoke as well as he didn’t sit. That, combined with his height, gave him the presence of a much older child. Maybe that was working against him - were people expecting too much?
Famous daddy syndrome didn’t help either. And that connection was hard to forget when this apple had fallen right at the foot of that incredibly dashing genetic tree.
Felicity made a point of never having favourites. ESPECIALLY not when they happened to be the offspring of one of her heroes. But she had always had a soft spot for an underdog and had a hunch that this one might need a champion in the near future.
She continued scrubbing, mind buzzing with ways she could capitalise on his evident interest in patterns and mentally rewriting tomorrow’s lesson plan to devote some time to the history of flight.

Tagged by @bagadew (Also tagging in @waermeflasche because you tagged me weeks ago and I didn't get back to you)
Last song I listened to: Soap by The Oh Hellos. I burn CDs and listen to them in my car. (The first few I tried to give themes and titles, and select the perfect song orders, but ended up kind of bad and the other was cursed and wouldn't play even though I remade it three times, so I just switched to throwing a ton of songs together on "Random Mixes" and enjoying.) I was listening to my very first random mix on the drive home from work and this one came up. It's a pretty snazzy song. I think Theseus and Hello, My Old Heart are my favourites from the band.
Last book I read: Can I do a couple? I just recently finished Play of Shadows by Sebastien de Castell. It's the first book of Court of Shadows, the sequel series to his Greatcoats series. Greatcoats is one of my favourite series, filled with swashbuckling action, clever humour, and an absolutely miserable protagonist, Falcio val Mond, who always manages to get back up and keep going anyway. I read everything de Castell writes, and after a string of books with severe pacing problems (check out The Malevolent Seven for a book that doesn't have a second act) and other problems (I have a hard time seeing any book topping Crucible of Chaos as the worst book I've read this year), he finally seems to be back. The book didn't pack quite the emotional punch of some of his other books, but it definitely made me want to jump up and cheer for the heroes at the end.
The other book I just finished is The Warm Hands of Ghosts by Katherine Arden. I liked her Winternight Trilogy (look it up and be prepared for some absolutely gorgeous covers, with prose to match), so I was excited to see something new from her. This book was about World War I, with some fantasy elements used for magic realism. (Portraying a soldier's struggle with addiction and PTSD through the lens of him losing his soul to the devil was a brilliant idea.) I most subsist on a steady diet of fantasy books, but this one had me hungering to read a few more historical books. I might have to pick up some books about the Halifax Explosion.
Last film I watched: I haven't watched much on my own for a while, but my friends do a movie night every Sunday. The last two times I tuned in, we watched Jesus Christ Superstar and Pokemon 3: Spell of the Unown. They were both fairly cute movies. I liked Judas's actor.
Last TV series I watched: I've been making my way through The Office for the first time. I'm on Season 3 and this happened to me, actually. There was some stuff I was like, "Wow, that was funny. I should tell my coworkers about it," but then I realized that I can't be the guy who tells his coworkers about this funny new show called The Office.
Last video game I played: If visual novels count, Umineko. I've been working my way through it slowly for about five and a half years and I'm finally closing in on the end. It's peak fiction and the greatest love story of the twentieth century. It's also funny I picked a game this insanely long for my first visual novel. Other than visual novels, I just finished Pokemon Legends: Arceus, after putting in 104 hours this year. Completing the Dex is my favourite part of any Pokemon game, so having it be more involved and include a big checklist made the game basically crack for me. I've also been casually playing some Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005) with my brother. Every time we play it, I'm always amazed by how good it is and how much content it has. I want to take command posts forever.
Last thing I googled: "Dandadan Aira". I just started the manga the other day and I like her best, so I wanted to double check her full name, I think? Other than that I'm mostly looking up when books are available at my local stores. I've been religiously checking when The Book that Broke the World will be available and I'm not even sure if I'm buying it.
Last thing I ate: A few snacks from my snack drawer. I also had a Quaker yogurt bar at work. I bought a big box of them last year, but I had to throw them out because of the Salmonella. (Chewed through a lot of them before that came out, though, including eating three on an airplane.)
Amount of sleep: Supposedly seven hours, since I went to bed right after finishing The Warm Hands of Ghosts last night. The only problem is that if I get to bed at a good time, I sleep fitfully, so I'm either sleeping poorly or sleeping well, but not getting anywhere near enough sleep.
Currently reading: I started Empire of Silence, the first book of The Sun Eater by Christopher Ruocchio, at work today. I've had the first three books sitting on my shelf for a year or two and I finally got around to starting it. (I'd resolved to do both this series and Kushiel's Legacy this year, after having both for so long, and I got that one done at the start.) I'm not very far in, but I enjoy the writing style a lot, even if a lot of the worldbuilding is obviously cribbed from Dune. (Whoa, look, mentats.) I've heard it picks up a lot in the second book, so I'm excited for what's in store for me.
Passing this on, I'll tag @somerunner @lyssq @soulsinshadow @lunawithsocks and @dancerladyaqua. (They also have currently watching and sweet, salty, or savoury as questions, which I didn't do.)

Dabi x Black reader x hawks pt 2
Dabi x black reader x hawks pt 1
The next few weeks you didn't see hawks, but you did continuously see someone else. Ever since you witness that incident, they were always lurking in the shadows, clearly following you around, stalking your every footstep.
You felt uneasy and unsafe; you had your house on lock down. You paced around your room looking for your other heel. You knew going out wasn't a good idea, but you needed some way to actually relax instead of being cooped up in your house; binge watching a bunch of shows until 5 Am. A habit you've been trying to break.
Anyway, you continued to get ready. Finishing up your makeup and grabbing your purse. You waited for your friend to text you.
Despite the uneasy feeling you decided to go out to a party with some friends to ease your nerves.
Maybe you'll feel safer in a small crowd of people.
A couple of minutes later and your friend is outside waiting for you.
Opening the door, you give your friend a puzzled look. You look behind them but don't see their car. "Where's your car?" your friend rolls their eyes, "We're walking to the party it's close to your house, two blocks down the road to be exact." Your friend hands you a pocketknife before could speak.
You close and lock your door, double checking everything before leaving.
As you and your friend walked you couldn't help the uneasy feeling slowly coming back.
You sat at the bar watching everyone dance, grind and making out.
You aren't really a hard drinker, mostly being a wine drinking kind of gal but there were rare moments you'd drink a bunch. Unfortunately, you felt too uneasy to drink your worries away like you usually would when life got tough.
But you don't mind that much, considering you'll be walking home alone since the friend you came with will be driving the others home; being too drunk or high out of their minds they won't be able to even walk straight let alone drive.
you excuse yourself from a conversation with someone and walk outside. Breathing in some fresh air. Your about text your friend to let her know your leaving early, when your hea-
BOOM! BOOM!
You fall to the ground as your ears ring and vision blurry, you look around for your friends, but you can barely see with all the smoke, dirt and debris everywhere. You try to get up but fall back down as a surge of pain shoots through your leg.
You hiss as you push the debris off your leg.
"Y/N!"
someone's voice rings through your ears. you tried your best to stay awake, but you pass out. The blaring of sirens was the last thing you heard.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hawks paced around the waiting room, "Calm down! Y/n is fine. They just need time to rest from surgery." Mirko quietly yells at him. Hawks stopped in his tracks and looked at Mirko, giving her an annoyed look. "I know that! but it's my fault." Hawks sits in a seat next Mirko, "He's targeting them" Hawks whispered. The Bunny Hero rolled her eyes "When is he not targeting people."
Before the two heroes could finish their conversation, a nurse walked over.
"Are you two Y/n's family?" Hawks quickly stood up "no, they live far away from their family. their family won't be here for another hour" The nurse nodded "they're in room 104, in Wing B"
The nurse walked away as the two heroes grabbed their things. Mirko and Hawks enter the room.

Sorry, this is short, but I'll be working on part 3 tomorrow. Hopefully you guys are happy with this part 2. I'll make sure future parts are much longer. I just needed to get a part two out there since it's been a while since I uploaded the first part.

Spoilers for anyone who plans to read my story Halo: Homecoming, but I think this is my favorite Fred and/or Fred/Kelly passage I've ever written.
Frederic-104 didn't sleep well. He hadn't for years.
The man lay in pitch dark with his eyes open, incapable of meeting the faces that inevitably assaulted his mind the moment he allowed them to close. Most nights, he would lay as still as possible and let physical exhaustion eventually overtake him. Others, he studied each face – the face of every Spartan who had died under his command; the face of every soldier he had failed. The face of each and every member of his family gone, while he remained.
Isaac, Grace, Vinh, Joshua . . . each face burned into his retinas like lasers cutting through styrofoam. Each one of them a hero. Each one of them he failed.
Some nights were better; the voices quieted, and the images eventually faded to nothing and allowed him to drift off to sleep. Others were so bad that he abandoned the notion of sleep altogether and forced himself to occupy his mind with something – anything – else.
This night was the latter.
Fred rose from his bed and exited the barracks silently. He didn't want to disturb his team, but he couldn't lie still any longer. Exiting the special-fit bunk room that had been assigned to Blue Team, the lieutenant made his way through narrow corridors to the Dusk's rec room.
The area was small by most standards in the UNSC Navy, though that was typical of Prowlers. Without the detachment of marines and combat pilots that most other ships carried, Prowlers didn’t need to expend space for exercise equipment. They were, however, stocked with enough machinery to keep the ship's small crew in the best form possible.
In particular, Fred was searching for one piece of machinery that had become commonplace on most UNSC vessels following the induction of the SPARTAN-IV program. Codenamed WARZONE, the machine was designed to accurately simulate combat for training purposes. Loaded with recordings to mimic all opponents the UNSC had faced – from Grunts to Hunters – and linked with the MJOLNIR undersuit, it created a hyper-realistic combat routine. On the Infinity, WARZONE could be used to put dozens of Spartans through full-scale combat simulations. On smaller vessels it was downscaled to a single occupant.
On the Dusk, WARZONE was attached to a small boxing ring in the rec room. Fred deftly stepped through the ropes and loaded a sequence on the machine. It was a personal scenario, made up of increasingly difficult opponents. As the holographic displays began to warm up, Fred swung his arms and shook his legs to loosen his tight muscles.
No matter how hard he tried though, it was never enough of a distraction.
He ducked under an Elite's energy sword. Joshua's hijacked Banshee, spewing smoke as it hurtled from the sky. He dove and rolled to avoid a smashing blow from a Hunter's shield. Malcolm - dead in a heap on the ground, having been denied even the death of a warrior. He plunged his knife through the armored carapace of a Promethean Knight. Holly, her entire body vanishing under the onslaught of a Hunter's plasma cannon as she stepped forward to protect Kelly.
Those images never left his mind. The sounds. The smells. The awful feeling of rage. The knowledge that he couldn’t save them.
The pained smile and unpracticed salute of a young police officer was at home amongst these memories. Fresh, new, yet familiar – as if it had always been in the back of his mind.
He had no idea how long it had been when he dropped to his knees; labored breathing caused as much by the physical exertion as by the mental assault of seeing each member of his family on a horrendous parade through his mind. All at once the bodysuit that was usually nothing more than an extra layer of skin suddenly felt so tight around his throat that it was strangling him.
With trembling hands, he forced his fingertips underneath the nanofiber material that clung to his jawline and violently wrenched it apart, tearing the fabric from the point of his chin down to his sternum and leaving the flaps hanging open. The weight didn't subside.
He fell backward until he leaned against the corner post of the boxing ring, then brought his knees up to his chest and rested his head in his hands. And he breathed.
In
Out
In
Out
He didn't know how long he had stayed in that position when he felt a vibration run through the pole behind him; someone was pushing their way through the ropes and into the ring. Reflexively, the Spartan lifted his head and made to rise from the ground, preparing to quickly leave the ring to make room for whatever crewman had come for their own exercise, and to – hopefully – avoid any uncomfortable questions he would have to lie about.
Instead of the tentative crewman in sweatpants and t-shirt he expected when he lifted his gaze, there was a striking figure, standing more than two meters tall, with dark brown hair tied back in a ponytail and blue eyes that were trying hard to hide the concern behind them.
Kelly stepped toward Fred and held up a hand, forestalling further attempts to rise to his feet. When he relented and settled his shoulders against the post behind him, she silently went to the console and deactivated the program. The rec room fell into silence once more.
Kelly knelt in front of him. Fred did his best to look nonchalant as he avoided her gaze. They sat in silence for some time, Fred diligently studying every square inch of the ceiling in an effort to avoid his partner's eyes.
"Must have been some kind of fight," she finally said, gesturing to Fred's torn bodysuit.
"You should see the other guy," he replied, doing his best to muster a convincing grin. When he turned to his partner, he was confronted by her stare.
Her eyes were familiar, as were the eyes of each of his teammates. Kelly's were a dark blue, interrupted by white lines stretching from the pupil to the edge of the iris. The white intermingled with the blue, lazily spreading outward in a way that drew to mind the clouds that, as a child, he used to watch meander across the deep blue sky of a late Reavian summer.
Yet another memory that reminded him of his failures. It was unlikely anyone would be able to appreciate the beauty of the sunset on Reach again. Yet another image he would never see again, except behind his own closed eyes as he tried in vain to sleep.
"It isn't your fault."
The statement cut through his thoughts like a plasma sword through a block of ice. The words dashed through his mind, passing so quickly that the Spartan almost wondered if he imagined it. The only confirmation that his partner had said anything were the extra worry lines crinkling the corner of her eyes, and the sudden tightness in his chest in response to what he knew she was referring to. Fred opened his mouth to answer but, for once, no smart remark came to mind.
"They aren't your fault," Kelly said. The worry lines deepened. "Spartans. Marines. Civilians. They all knew what they were getting into. They chose to go."
He coughed out a laugh. "I don't know what you're talking about, Rabbit," he lied.
"He isn't your fault."
His chest tightened. His legs were trembling. He wanted to say something. To diffuse the tension with humor. To push the feelings back down until they were so deep that he could be sure he was safe from them again. For things to go back to normal, at least for a while.
Instead, he stayed silent. Kelly stayed silent. The entire universe was silent. The silence pressed in on Fred – isolated him, dragged him into a pitch black abyss and squeezed from all sides. It was like a tidal wave crashing over his body – just as tangible and twice as loud.
Then the silence broke. He felt a hand slowly reach out and press itself against the right side of his face. The palm pressed against his cheek and the finger splayed out, the thumb on his cheekbone and the little finger curling below his jaw. Another hand landed at the base of the left side of his neck.
The feeling was unusual – Spartans weren't exactly known for being "touchy." Though he knew whatever Kelly was doing couldn't possibly mean him harm, Fred's instincts screamed to distance himself from the foreign experience until he could be sure he was safe. Instead, he opened his eyes and found himself drawn back once more to the beautiful clouds tracking across the open air over the Longhorn Valley.
"Those places aren't home," Kelly said. "Reach, Imber, Ballast . . . no place is our home." She seemed to study his eyes as she spoke. Then she gingerly pulled his face forward until his forehead rested against hers. The new gesture surprised him, but once again he didn't recoil. In fact, he found himself leaning back against her, matching the pressure she was putting against him.
"We're Spartans," Kelly whispered. "Our heritage is each other. We are our home."
They fell once more into silence, though this time the silence wasn't so loud.
When he closed his eyes, the faces of his family slowly faded away. Kurt, with one last handshake before he made the ultimate sacrifice. Li, vanishing in an explosion during a zero-gravity battle; the one place the man had truly felt at ease. Ellsworth, with blood staining his teeth as he smiled with the hope that he was fulfilling his most sacred vows.
Each face slowly passed on and was replaced by a single thought as Fred took in the sound of the Dusk's systems, the light of the rec-room lighting his eyelids, and the feeling of Kelly's hands cradling his face and their foreheads still resting one against the other.
We are our own home.
Welcome home.

Thranduil and Josie Part 104- The Other Side
Summary: Emotions run dangerously high in this poignant packed chapter. Legolas and Josie share some heart rending moments. Narcisse is a hero. Raven is cornered and the tale she tells is devastating. Love and an unknown power saves Josie and Leann's life as Josie returns the favor with her love. Thranduil is in deep despair as he learns what truly happened to him and that everyone believes he is dead.
Warning* Language, violence, angst
Legolas got up after being dragged to the ground by Narcisse when the warlock took Azog's strike for him. Stephane wasn't moving and you quickly ran to him while the guilt ridden Prince stood in rue as he watched you frantically check him over. It was no secret that he did not care for Narcisse, but he had no reason to want him dead, and definitely not on his account.
Tumblr media
"Is he....." Legolas began to ask in worry.
You felt for a pulse and listened to his chest for a heartbeat. "No...but he's badly injured. He's bleeding from his mouth. Stephane?? Hey...can you hear me?" You stroked his cheek but he did not respond. You then began coughing uncontrollably and couldn't see straight from the burning smoke.
"Jo, we have to get you out of here. All this smoke is not good for you and your child. The fire is spreading and Narcisse is the only one with the power to put it out." Haldir swiftly took control and gently forced you up off the ground.
"No! We cannot just leave him here!! I need to heal him!"
"We will not leave him Jo. The remains of the barn is not far from here. We can take him there and get you both out of the fumes."
"You shall take Lord Narcisse nowhere!" Asher, Stephane's captain of the guard approached with his Dorwinion squad, tripling your 6 of you, Julian, Haldir, Legolas, Rumil and Orophin. Selene, Garrett, Aragorn and Gandalf left in search of Michael and Raven to save time while you tended to Stephane and the Lothlorien guard were out scavenging the De Lioncourt grounds for more threats.
Asher was the big oaf you and Legolas were greeted by when you arrived in Dorwinion the week prior, who assumed you and Legolas were married and that he was the father of your child and dressed as if every woman wanted him with his shirt hanging open down to his navel. If he only knew it made you want to hurl.
"We shall take him back to Dorwinion where he belongs. Step aside woman."
"Are you insane?? He will die! He obviously has internal bleeding and needs me to heal him!" you reeled and coughed some more.
"He....we...should never have been here to begin with! I pleaded with him to remain neutral but he just had to come and help you. This is all your fault."
"You know what? You're right, it is all my fault. But what's happened has happened and I am done wasting time with you. Unlike you, Stephane is an honorable, selfless man. I feel sorry for you when he wakes up....no, actually I don't. We are going to take him and I am going to heal him. Now...get out of my way...." You proudly snarled just like Thranduil would and then scowled at him with your fist clenched at your side, ready to blast him if he tried to stop you. You had to wonder what Narcisse ever saw in Asher to make him his right hand man. His physical strength and skills maybe, plus the fact that he was just a complete asshole was needed in his position. It certainly couldn't be for his brains.
"No elf loving bitch commands me. My orders come from Lord Narcisse only and I am to protect him at all costs. We are taking him home...now YOU get out of MY way." Asher growled through his teeth as the barely taller than you man stepped up into your face and slightly nudged you with his chest. He was clearly resentful of you and even more clearly stupid for what he just did. All you could think of is that Asher would be dead right now if Thranduil were here.
Legolas and Haldir both would be happy to end the arrogant prick as they raised their bows at him while Julian swiftly appeared at your side. Unlike your husband, you had no patience at being man handled after everything Peter did to you and you got the distinct vibe that Asher was just like him.
Without even thinking, up came your hand in full swing and your nails dug right across his face, instantly drawing blood.
"Don't you ever touch me...." you hissed with a death glare at him.
"You fucking cunt." Asher reeled as he wiped the blood from his face and gazed at it on his fingertips.
Tumblr media
What you didn't expect but should have is that he would hit back. He clocked you back right across your cheek bone with a closed fist, knocking you into Julian's arms. Legolas immediately fired his bow, sending the arrow straight into his shoulder and catapulting him to the ground.
"I believe I told you once filth, how to address the Queen of Mirkwood. Consider this a warning. If you ever lay a hand on her again, I will put my arrow through your brainless brain." Legolas snapped as he stood over the wounded warlock with another arrow pointed at his forehead.
Tumblr media
Asher glanced back at his squad. "Do something you fools!"
Not a one of them moved. Julian was standing right there at your side and they ALL seemed to know not to mess with him and it seemed more apparent that they did not agree with Asher's actions. They also knew Narcisse would flip his shit from being prevented of receiving prompt care. Asher had already delayed it and they knew he would answer to that soon enough.
You then stood over the helpless and obviously powerless warlock, as not all possessed magic capabilities. Being a douchebag must have compensated for that is all you could think of.
"If I know Narcisse as well as I think I do, you may want to see if there is possibly a big enough rock on this planet for you to hide under." You then squatted down and got in his face, speaking in a most sinister tone. "If Thranduil were here right now...you'd already be dead."
Tumblr media
"Get him out of here before my fingers accidentally slip." Legolas snarked to the warlock guard. They did as the Prince ordered while Julian and Haldir swiftly carried the unconscious Narcisse off.
You and Legolas turned to each other and simultaneously asked if the other was alright which made you slightly chuckle.
"I should have killed him." Legolas vented and pushed your hair back with his fingers to view the shiner beneath your eye.
"No...you shouldn't have. Narcisse will deal with him. I am certain of it." You then brought your hand to his forehead where he himself had a nice bruise, but the Prince swiftly nudged it away.
"Why does it have to be him?" Legolas reeled in an obviously jealous tone.
"So that Narcisse does not hold you accountable for any reason. Are you going to stay mad at me forever? I am worried about you Legolas. I cannot stand this animosity from you. It...it's killing me...."
"I do not need a lecture nor a keeper. I am perfectly capable of taking care of myself. Worry about your vampire, or warlock."
"Really? I beg the differ. You do realize if Narcisse hadn't intervened, it would be you in his position right now. What were you thinking trying to take on that beast?"
"I was thinking about my father who is dead and missing, which seems to be the least of your concern." Legolas snapped and walked off.
Now you were just pissed and stayed right on his heels.
Tumblr media
Legolas kept trekking through the forest in silence as if you were not even there.
"Hey!!!" You grabbed him roughly and spun him around. "How dare you! How dare you say something so horrible and hurtful. Seems you're on a role with that lately. I know you are hurting and want to blame someone. I feel the same way Legolas, but you don't see me being spiteful to you. Thranduil is my entire world and you know that!! and so are you believe it or not. I am so grateful to Narcisse for offering to protect you... What is this really about huh??"
"As if you do not know." His eyes softened for only a moment and then his pupils dilated again. "This is not the time nor place for this. Probably never will be." Legolas yanked his arm free of your grip and continued on while muttering. "Do you not have a warlock to save and sleep with next?"
Your heart sank. "What did you just say to me??" you shouted in shock.
The peeved Prince kept stomping on while completely ignoring you. The fury that ran through your body was incredulous and this time you jerked him around quite hard.
"If you are going to say something so cruel and insensitive, at least have the audacity to say it to my face, you coward!!!"
"Fine! I said.... do you not have a warlock to save and sleep with ne..."
Slap. Your palm connected with his cheek so strong, it stung your hand. Tears poured from your eyes like a waterfall as you glared at him in emotional pain.
""You son of a bitch." you squeaked and cried.
The look on his face was of pure agony and regret. "Josie...I...I am...I did not...I do not know what came over me....the evil here...it is too..."
"Save it Leggy. You and I are done here." You then ran off in tears.
Legolas then did something he never did. He swore...and quite loudly. "Fuck!"
You came running into the semi burnt stable with a tear soaked face and bee lined straight for Narcisse who laid on a bed of straw still unconscious. Haldir noticed your distress and then saw Legolas standing in the doorway with turmoil and red marks on his face.
"Narcisse, can you hear me?" The warlock didn't move and his breaths were shallow. "It's going to be ok. I am here now."
You placed your hand over his heart and a soft ice blue glow pulsated from it. Stephane gasped in panic as he opened his eyes and tried to sit up.
Tumblr media
"Easy! Easy now. You're alright. You're safe. Try to relax." You softly told him as you held his hand with one hand and the back of his head with the other.
"What...what happened? Where am I?"
You helped him slowly sit up. "Azog. He hit you with his mace. Are you in any pain?"
He looked at you confused. "No...I do not seem to be. You...you healed me?" Narcisse asked as he wiped the blood from his mouth. His eyes then grew wide. "I...I remember now. Azog..he was coming for the elf...I pulled him away. Where is he, the boy? Is he alright?"
"Oh he is just fine..." you answered with strong sarcasm.
"I am right here and I am no boy." Legolas huffed and stormed back outside.
Tumblr media
"You're welcome." Narcisse shouted. "And I am fine, thanks for asking." He then looked at you. "Jesus, what happened to your face Jo?"
You, Julian and Haldir all glanced at each other.
"It is obvious you all know something. Will someone please inform me of the events I have missed?" Narcisse demanded.
"I will." Julian insisted. "It was your man...Asher. He struck my daughter and it will cost him dearly."
Stephane was extremely dismayed and furious. "Indeed it will! What happened and where is the brute now?"
"I don't know. Your guards took him away after Legolas shot him in the shoulder with an arrow. Asher wasn't going to let us help you. He insisted that they take you back to Dorwinion in which I argued that you would die if they did so. I told him he was not taking you anywhere, that I was going to help you and then he became irate. I suppose I instigated it by striking him first but he had gotten in my face and shoved me so..."
"I do not care what you did to provoke him! He has no business striking a woman, and one with child at that! I will handle him in due time." Narcisse then stood up, wiped his clothes down and exhaled loudly while smiling. "In the meantime, we have a witch to hunt, do we not?"
You grinned. "Yes...we do.....Narcisse....thank you...for what you did for Legolas. I don't know what I would do if I lost him too. He means the world to me."
"You are most welcome...but it is I that should be thanking you. You saved my life."
"Well then. We are even." you smiled.
Legolas was standing just outside the door and had heard what you said about him. Even after how he had treated you, you still cared for him and it broke his heart. He couldn't take back what he said to you and it was tearing him apart because he certainly did not mean it. He didn't know what he would do if he lost you too and now that he was thinking more clearly, he vowed to himself that he would do everything in his power to repair the damage he had done. You both needed each other now more than ever with Thranduil gone.
Off you all went to find the others and the conniving and conspiring Ravenous Clover.
Raven was frantically searching for the portal as she had become lost trying to lose the tail she had on her from Michael who had soon been joined by Selene, Aragorn, Garrett and Gandalf.
She came to an old broken bridge and could smell blood. A scent that was familiar. Jareth's.
Tumblr media
She then saw trails of blood running down the rock embankment and approached it with caution.
"Jareth?" she whispered and looked around in worry. A crow came out of nowhere and flew at her, then took off. The crow was your crow, but she didn't know that or know that he was a spy who was now on his way to tattle to you of her whereabouts. He had hung around after you had seen him on your balcony back at the castle because he knew more bad things were going to happen.
Tumblr media
Julian and Narcisse walked side by side as you walked beside Haldir and Legolas led far ahead by himself. He was too ashamed to be near you. Haldir noticed your eyes had been fixated on him the entire walk.
"Would you like to tell me what transpired between you and Legolas? I can see how tormented you both are. How do you say it, the tension is so thick, one could cut it with a knife?"
"It's my fault Haldir. Everything...is all my fault. Just like Legolas said....and...and...." You began to choke up and just broke down. "My husband is dead and...and..I...I couldn't save him." You dropped to your knees and wailed hysterically. "What am I going to do?? I will die without him.....Thranduil!!!!! Thran...Thranduil come back!!!! Why did you leave me????"
Haldir fell to his knees and held you so tight while he glared at a guilt ridden Legolas. The Prince's eyes filled with tears.
Just then, the caws of the crow echoed from above as he circled about in a frenzy. Haldir knew the bird well enough to know he had a message of great importance.
"Jo...look!" he exclaimed as he pointed up to the sky.
You sniffled and caught your breath, then stood up and held your arm out. Down came the big black bird and landed gracefully on your hand, then hopped up onto your shoulder. He cocked his head at you and you could see your reflection in his dark glassy eye.
"CAW!!" he snapped loudly.
"What is it my friend???" you desperatley asked.
He flew up above you and hovered there, then flew towards the forest and flapped around in anxious circles.
"He wants us to follow him." Haldir announced. "This is what he did in Laketown to get me to follow him when you were in trouble."
"Let's go!" you shouted. You all began running after him and followed him into the forest where you eventually found the others.
"Josie....Raven is near." Selene informed.
You caught Garrett's eyes as he stared at your bruised face. He walked over to you and didn't ask what happened. All he did was place his hand on your cheek. His palm lit up with the same blue light that he healed you with before when the wolfsbane got into your system. Just like that, your contusion was gone. His eyes were so kind and full of love. He then stood with his arms crossed as he glanced at Legolas, then lowered his head to the ground. He was still hurt.
Tumblr media
You wanted to apologize. "Garrett...I...."
"Over here....she's over here!" Michael growled as he stood cornering her in the bushes.
You all went charging over to him and circled around her. Raven's glowing defensive eyes peered out from behind the leaves.
Tumblr media
"It's useless Raven, you're trapped. Just tell me what happened to Thranduil and I will let you live. You have my word." you negotiated but were lying through your teeth. You were going to make her suffer just as Thranduil did.
"As if I would ever believe a word you say big sister."
"You will not be harmed. All I want is my husband back so I can take him home and bury him. Raven...please....do you not have any kind of heart? You don't have to be dark...just ask Garrett?"
Raven began laughing. "This is your way of talking me down? Garrett only turned good for you and look where that has gotten him. Everyone still hates him. He will never be accepted and neither will I. Him and I are kindred spirits but I wasn't good enough for him. I have a real man now."
"How's that workin out for ya Clover? Jareth is nowhere around. Left you in the dust. He don't give a damn about you and no one ever will." Garrett ranted.
"Right back at ya G. You're going to be sad and alone for the rest of your pathetic existence. Serves you right, thinking you're all better than me now when you and I are one in the same."
"Oh I don't think it , I know it. I am nothing like you." Garrett whipped his hand out and snapped it upside down, then pulled it back towards him. Raven gasped and was swiftly drug out by the vampire's invisible force, then he wiggled his fingers and she floated right up into the air to where he grabbed her by the neck and held her there.
She kicked and squirmed while pawing at her throat for air. "Now who's sad, alone and pathetic?" Garrett grinned.
"You will...b..burn.for...this...J..Jareth...will come..for you."
Garret squeezed harder.
Tumblr media
"Now...you're going to answer all of Josephine's questions or I am simply going to rip your throat out. The choice is yours. Talk and live or choke and die. What's it gonna be Ravey baby."
"Garrett...no! Then I will never know where Thranduil is." you snapped.
"Josephine...she values her putrid life too much. She'll talk."
"Well she can't talk if you're choking her!"
His eyes darted to yours. "Your point is valid..." Garrett then lowered her to the ground so she could stand but he kept a firm grip around her scrawny neck. "Now speak...for time is short..." he smirked as that was one of Jareth's quotes.
"You're just going to kill me after I tell you so I would rather die now and let you suffer Josephine!"
"I have had enough!" Legolas shouted. He sped up to her, pulled out a poisoned arrow and stabbed her in the shoulder with it. Her scream was long and shrill. "Once the poison kicks in, Haldir will get the truth out of you and then we will all watch you die a slow painful death like my father suffered."
Garrett let her drop to the ground and you stood over her. "How does it feel? To know you are going to die...like my beautiful husband felt...helpless, confused, scared...because that's what the dead man's blood is going to do to you shortly and I am going to take the greatest pleasure in it. In fact, as I have said before, I am not patient like Thranduil was, so let me speed up the process."
Tumblr media
You bent over with pursed lips and twisted the arrow inside of her pushing it in deeper, then smiled at her as she screamed and cried.
"I will never tell you!!!" she raged.
You charged at her but arms grabbed you around your waist and drug you back. It was Haldir.
"Look at me Jo." he said as he firmly held your face in his hands. "I will get the truth from her. It won't be long, the poison will take effect."
"I..I can't take this anymore! I don't....feel right...I..." You then doubled over, screaming in pain and fell to your knees.
"Jo!! What is it??!" Haldir shouted in panic as Julian bolted to your side.
You felt something wet and warm gush through your pants. As you brought your hand up, your fingers were covered in blood. The dream you had all those months ago in Rivendell of being pregnant and being in the forest in pain and bleeding was coming true. At the time, you thought it was all about Malsha. This is why you hated your dreams. They usually didn't make sense until some time later.
Tumblr media
"No...no..noooooo! My baby! I can't lose her, she's all I have left of Thranduil!"
"You have me, forever in your heart. I will be with you always." Legolas assured as he knelt down and stroked your cheek with the back of his fingertips, so similar to how Thranduil touched you. His words deeply concerned you as it sounded like you would never see him again. "I will not let Leeanduil die. I will not let you die. My father lives in your blood as he lives in mine. I am so sorry for everything." He then paused as his lower lids held back tears and whispered something to you that he has never spoken. "I...love you."
Legolas gripped your bloodied fingers tightly in his hand. A vibrating hum sounded and a soft white light outlined your joined limbs as Legolas' eyes rolled back. The Prince began to convulse as all of your blood and pain relinquished, then he turned white as a ghost and toppled over to the ground.
Tumblr media
"Legolas!!??" you cried and shook him but he did not respond. "Don't you leave me too!! Not you!! Leggy please wake up!!"
You laid his head in your lap and caressed his face as your tears dripped upon his cheek. You had no clue what just happened or that Legolas had any powers as you had never witnessed him use any in the entire time you had known him, except for his shapeshifting ability into a white stag like Thranduil could do. Of course, you had never seen Thranduil's true capabilities either until a few days ago when he put Raven in her place. The elves only seemed to use magic when deemed absolutely necessary as they were skilled warriors and their weapons were their prize possessions.
Raven began to cackle. "How perfect. He's experiencing his father's last moments. A father and son's blood united. Thranduil is dead, dead, dead... just like I told you he was and now, so is his son. Legolas sacrificed his own life for you and his sister. What a martyr. How sweet that his last words were professing his "dying" love for you. I couldn't really say undying now could I?" she smirked through her pain.
You ripped the emerald pendant from your neck, kissed it and placed it on Legolas..."You will not die for me!!!" you swore with every breath in you but nothing happened, just like when you laid it upon Thranduil.
Haldir stared Raven down, using his magical candor on her. "Why is the pendant not working!?
The dead man's poison was kicking in and Haldir's power was beginning to coerce the truth out of the untrustworthy witch.
"My mother cursed Thranduil's bloodline upon the gem. Even if you had gotten to Thranduil in time, it would not have saved him, just as it is now useless for his son. Thranduil's wife and daughter would have perished too but the selfless Prince offered his own life for them. How bittersweet. The power of love is a force like no other. If you had gotten to Thranduil sooner, your love could have saved him from the spell."
Her words punched a hole right through your heart but she also just unwillingly told you how to save Legolas.
You had healing power but not the ability to raise the dead, just like Julian told you he did not possess for it was not possible. You cried so hard as your light came bursting out of you and covered Legolas' entire body.
"You have to live Legolas...for me and Leann...for your father! I will not let his death be in vain. Legolas Greenleaf, wake up!! I need you!" you sobbed with a squeaking voice. "I love you too...."
Tumblr media
Legolas began to cough as his alabaster skin tone returned and his baby blue eyes opened, peering straight up into your frightened and shocked ones.
"Oh my god, oh my god Leggy!!" You shouted in disbelief and threw your arms around him so hard, he grunted.
"My...la..lady...I...I cannot... breathe.." he stuttered with a light chuckle.
You simultaneously laughed and cried as you released him and stroked his cheeks with each of your hands. The others were greatly relieved and bewildered as they all flocked around you and the revived Prince. You all were so caught up in the miraculous resurrection, that none of you noticed Raven crawling off. She weakly pulled herself up a small hill with her eyes set on something. She could see the portal with Jareth standing inside of it reaching his hand out to her.
"Get up and come to me my love." his voice whispered, that only she could hear.
She wobbled her way up into a standing position and gave a hearty snicker. "Toodaloo bitches. It's been real."
She placed her hand in front of her at the invisible barrier and it lit up in blue sparkles as she pushed through it and vanished into thin air.
Tumblr media
"NOOOOOO!!!!" you fumed as you swiftly stood up and ran to the point of entry, frantically waving your hands all around in search of unseen gateway but nothing was there. Jareth had made it solely accessible to him and Raven. Just like that, your ticket to knowing all there was to be known about Thranduil was gone. The most important thing you did know though...that he was truly dead, or so you believed as did the others as Raven did not say otherwise while under Haldir's mind control.
You completely broke as you fell back to your knees. Your light exploded out of your heart, knocking everyone down as you screamed...."Thranduil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Tumblr media
The portal took Raven and Jareth instantly back to Goblin Town below the Misty Mountains just as Gandalf had suspected it would. The wizard's blinding light had injured Jareth to where it had made his eyes bleed. He had purposely left his blood that Raven found earlier, to help her fend off magic and harm, and to also help her find her way back as he was to weak to come through and retrieve her. She had licked the blood off the leaf she plucked, and because of it. she had the ability to partially lie under the marchwarden's interrogation, in which she did about Thranduil being dead. It also gave her the strength to get up and sneak off. Jareth then healed her from the dead man's poison, but he himself needed to heal so he went off to do so, leaving Raven to tend to their new guest. The Elvenking.
She pushed a door open, revealing a sleep induced Thranduil in bed. He was shirtless and bandaged around his waist where he had been speared by Caroline. Raven had tended to him much earlier after he had disappeared before his son's eyes. She traced her fingers over his bare abdomen and began bragging to him the tale of his so called demise in which she took great pride in doing.
Tumblr media
He could hear her too, but he could not move or open his eyes as Caroline's spell had not worn off yet. He had also heard you begging and crying for him to live and he had felt your kiss upon his lips. His agony was unbearable knowing of the pain you were in.
Tumblr media
"King Thranduil, what a pleasant sight you are. Welcome to your new home. You and I are going to have so much fun. My mother's plan was for all of us to be here together, but that bitch of a wife of yours fucked all that up and now it's just you and I because they killed her. I'm quite thrilled though that she thinks that you think she is the one who stabbed you...It was all quite easy though, carrying out my mother's plan of making you appear dead like she did to good old Jules. A little wolfsbane goes a long way, which the knife was laced with...It slowed your heartbeat enough to go undetected and her spell kept you from moving or waking up and of course she made sure your stab wound would not be fatal. But it was needed to look like it was the cause of your death. Of course, now they know you were poisoned as well but that's ok. To them, you are still dead as a doornail. Seeing my sister revel in misery was so extremely satisfying. And I got Legolas good too. I had placed a teleporting spell upon you when I had located you in the church which brought you here. You vanished right before his eyes. I definitely had the strength to carry you to the portal but I could not risk being seen and caught with you. Don't worry love, you will awake soon and be good as new while your wife and son mourn you. Don't worry though, I will make you forget all about them and your life for this is your new home now.....forever."
Thranduil was raging inside his head, fighting so hard to wake up and choke the life out of the devious dhampir. He was shouting your name over and over, praying that you could still hear him, because if Raven succeeded in what she said she was going to do to him, he would be lost to you. But he was trapped inside his own mind...helpless and alone....or so he thought. It was like he was in some other realm, having an out of body experience as he could see you and himself. Someone else was there with him as he heard an angelic familiar voice echo through the beautiful garden that surrounded him.....a woman's voice....his mother.

Finding Her - Chapter 15
Tumblr media
Link makes notes, takes photos and keeps time on his quest across Hyrule, in the hopes of finding Zelda and staying sane until he does. [ Previous | Next | First | AO3 ]
Purah Pointer: Walk, don’t run! There’s so much to see in Hyrule. Avoid rushing into combat or unfamiliar territory without assessing the local terrain and your own abilities first.  --- Log date: 9:55. 8th month, 13th day 104 AC Location: Gatepost Town Ruins, Central Hyrule  Weather: Rain
Summer is ending. I can taste it in the air, and see it on Garini’s face. He frowns at every cloud. He needs warmth, he says, he needs light!
We’re camped at Gatepost Town Ruins. There’s a small group of people here. Not travellers, they live here. Say they settled down a month before the Upheaval and weren’t going to let any so called Demon King get in the way of their plans to rebuild.
Maybe we aren’t the cursed ones after all. Ganon is the one always trying to destroy a Kingdom full of people who refuse to go down with out a fight.  I know he hasn’t gotten to you yet, Zelda. I can feel your presence. On the wind, in the sun, in the rain. You’re here, somewhere. I didn’t go to hell and back to stop believing that.
Priority is to get to Lurelin and find the next geoglyph, after we deal with the pirate problem. When we set off from Lookout Landing, Garini swore he could only lead me to Lurelin and no further. He’s not a fighter, he said. I asked him how sure he was about that, it’s his home under attack after all. Well, yesterday I found him practising with a fishing spear.
The locals heard our plan and laughed. They said that a three-headed beast has taken control of the Bridge of Hylia. It flies, it spits fire, it shakes the foundations of the earth, apparently. ‘You’ll never make it through, boys!’ they said. ‘It’ll take the Hero of Hyrule himself to cross.’
Garini grinned at this, and shot me a less than subtle wink. ‘Let’s hope he shows up then,’ he said.
A photograph of Link, in his Champion Leathers, brandishing a Zora silver sword fused with the an Ice-Breath Lizalfos horn from Herba. On his belt are a few vials of fireproof elixir purchased in Eldin. His hair is worn half loose, with the crown braided in the Gerudo style around a diamond circlet.

Right. That ROCKED. Garini is helping write this. ‘Not a fighter’ he says. Ha!
The Gleeok was… it was beautiful. It was massive, and it was ANGRY! Can still feel the searing heat. Now that’s warmth! Garini cried.
First came the fire beams. The tower on the northern side of the bridge provided cover for that. Patience, calm, wait for the right moment and then – Ascend! Up through the tower and out the other side with a bow in hand and keese eyeballs ready. The first head went down easy. The Gleeok did NOT like that. It thrust its wings into the air and beat down, sending a battering of gusts our way.
Gotta close the distance! I think I yelled to Garini, and got to work improvising a rocket cart using Zonai parts that I had in storage. This seems like– Garini was halfway through saying when I blasted myself towards the Gleeok with my blade raised. I managed to cut off a second head before I ran directly into one of the Gleeok’s wings, and was knocked clear over the edge of the bridge – like a bad idea, Link!
By some miracle, I managed to grab ahold of an outer stone ledge while the Gleeok roared and took to the sky, raining down hellfire so hot I could feel my hands burning. Had to get out of there, and fast. Not sure where the next idea came from. I think once you get one bad idea, they just start forming a line. I hauled myself up to the edge, and yelled, Garini, throw your spear! Not at the Gleeok, at me!
At you!? I can’t do that!
Just be brave and throw!
Brave? Brave or STUPID, Link!?
If you don’t throw that spear, I will make SURE that Gleeok eats you first!
Garini has forgiven me the threat, he says. But it worked. He gathered all his strength and threw the spear clean and quick. Holding on with my left hand, I raised the right arm and - ding!
The spear snapped to a halt an inch from my face, and in the spare moment I grabbed ahold of it. A second later I was flying backwards towards Garini and the safety of the northern tower and then – click! The spear dropped to the ground.
Recall. It almost felt like cheating.
The Gleeok was still raining down fire upon us. I caught an updraft, rode it into the sky and loosed a single arrow into the final Gleeok eye. The beast fell back onto the bridge in a crushing heap, and was dead.
Afterwards, Garini and I set about collecting the monster parts it left behind, and for his invaluable contribution to our victory, I fused one of the Gleeok flame horns onto his fishing spear.
He’s just now discovered that when he catches a fish with the spear, it comes out of the water already cooked, which he say is the coolest thing he has ever seen in his whole life. And… I mean. I’d think downing a flying beast from hell would be up there, but each to his own.
A photograph of Garini of Lurelin Village, proudly holding his Gleeok Flame Horn Spear. He stands in front of the slain Gleeok, a foot perched on the long neck of one of his heads. Without anyone to speak to the contrary, the photograph might imply that Garini killed the beast on his own.

Log date: 10:00. 8th month, 16th day 104AC Location: Lurelin Village Overlook, Faron  Weather: Partly cloudy
Arrived outside Lurelin. Elder Rozel and Bolson of Bolson Construction fame camped on an overlook outside the town. The town is infested with monsters. Gonna have to get through them if I want any chance of reaching the next geoglyph. We’re outnumbered but with a plan we can pull through. I hope.
Adversaries
Twenty monsters or so in total, but there’s probably more in hiding.
Pirate Ship: Half a dozen bokoblins. One of them is a big guy with a horn. Garini said bokoblins can’t swim. It’s why Lurelin has mostly been safe in past. Focus on pushing the monsters into the water.
Restaurant: Group of bokoblins here. Lower rank. Distracted by some meat and fruit they’re roasting. They’ve burnt it though, can smell the smoke from here. A waste.
Houses by the shore: Lizalfos in the water. Dangerous to fight them in their home territory but it has to be done. I think I’ve got some Zonai shock emitters in storage. Will tell Garini to stay out of the water.
Treasure shop: Big building, hard to tell exactly who’s inside, but can see some bokoblins out front. These ones seem bored, could be an easy target.
Inn: More lizalfos by the water. They’ve really torn up the inn. Bolson insists he can fix it. Asked him how long it would take and he just rolled his eyes. “It takes until it’s done!”
Assets
Garini: Still has his fire spear. Precise and quick, surprisingly strong throwing arm. Not a lot of combat experience. Very cocky after the Gleeok fight. Glass cannon. Will direct him to stay close, shout if he needs help (like REALLY shout) and to retreat the moment he so much as gets a scratch.
Bolson: Said he’s been known to be pretty good shot with a brick in past, and will provide ‘aerial support’ from the overlook with some palm fruit that he’s gathered. Won’t deny any help we can get.
Rozel: Non-combatant. Have asked him to stay back and tell the story of our tragic end if things go south.
Link: Just over one-hundred shrines complete and wearing my girlfriend’s handmade armour, so feeling pretty strong. Slew a Gleeok two days ago, also a probably bit cocky about that. Still without my Sword – in its place have a collection of weird monster-horns fused onto whatever weapon I can find.
Plan
Me to lead, Garini flanking to the rear, picking off any weaker monsters. Bolson throwing palm fruit as crowd control. The Pirate Ship is the priority – if we can sink that, maybe the monsters will scatter. Have instructed Garini to use his spear to set fire to anything and everything on that ship that’s not already below water.
No idea how this is going to go. Been a long, long time since I’ve had soldiers in my care. Just have to move fast, hit hard, give clear orders, and get out them all out alive.
A photograph of Lurelin Village and the Pirate Ship on its shores. The huge, horned skull on the bow leers with blank menace. On the ship, a group of bokoblins and their boss bokoblin dance and jeer.

Log date: 15:45. 8th month, 16th day 104AC Location: Rimba Beach, Faron Weather: Cool
Success – and only a few bruises and cuts to show for it. Most for me, though Garini is proud of the busted brow he sustained - Mubs will think it’s so dashing!
Exhausted. Two big fights in as many days. Forgot the fatigue. The way your muscles rebel. But we got it done. All over in about twenty minutes. The monsters here had gotten fat off their own victory, eating fish and fruit for three months, and weren’t ready for an ambush. The ruffians put up less fight than cut grass.
We sank that pirate ship in the end. If ‘obliterated’ counts as a sinking... Garini’s fire spear was doing its job well until we noticed that the monsters had stockpiled explosives on deck, for some reason. Never felt fear like realising the netting it was sitting on had caught fire. Never felt so alive than when we tore across the jetty to get as far away from the ship as we could before if blew. Bolson said the sight of an enormous fireball and bits of wood and monster parts flying everywhere was almost pretty, if you squinted, or even just closed your eyes all together.
I’ve left the task of rebuilding to Bolson, Garini and Elder Rozel. I spared an hour ultrahand-ing some palm tree trunks in place for the building foundations, but I had to move on.
There’s a clue about Princess Zelda nearby, I explained to them. Garini understood. “Rebuilding’s better when you have someone to share it with,” he said, and with a hug thanked me for this adventure. When he turned back towards town, I overhead him telling Rozel how happy his wife is going to be about the news…

Hylia help us, we're in it now.
Came straight here from Lurelin. The vision there… Queen Sonia… when I saw what happened to her and that you were right there Zelda, I had to know. I just had to know. Teleported to the nearest Shrine and stumbled through the snow until I found this tear in the middle of the tundra. What the Ancient Sages warned us of was true: Secret stone. Demon King.
What the… what the hell am I doing? Mucking about with pirates and gleeoks while hatred and malice incarnate has returned to Hyrule and could reawaken at any moment. That was him, wasn't it? That creature that we found underneath Hyrule Castle was the Demon King from the visions. He killed Queen Sonia, nearly killed you, Zelda. And Rauru — the Ancient Sages said he sacrificed himself. For what? For nothing, if we aren't ready.
I haven't reached the end of your story. There are still two geoglyphs left. But I know that after the Demon King came to be, he led a terrible war -- you told me that yourself, Zelda, before all this even started. It's a war that we still have to fight.
I have to find the fifth sage. I need to get my Sword back. So I have to stop searching for you, for Zelda, for just a little while. I’m sorry. As soon as I know Hyrule is in hand, I’ll find you, I swear it. I’ll find you and we’ll end this together.
A photograph of the sprawling Tabantha geoglyph, depicting a demon-like figure with hands outstretched, descending upon the land of Hyrule.
