Hey guys!...so about that update. Specifically, the hidden "ringring" Wally audio.

Okay, so there's this secret audio you can find on the Welcome Home website by pressing Wally's button on the Telephone Toy (you can find that on the Discoveries page under Toys). I dunno if anyone has found this, but if you click on the audio, it lifts up and reveals a transcript for the audio. I'll copy and paste it here now:

WALLY: (Loud, boisterous and joyous. His laughter is normal and then gets loud and out of control.) You found me! Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha ha! Ha ha ha!

(An electronic noise plays, then cuts off along with static. Voice is slow and halted, with varied inflection.)

Hello, You.

It has been a long while…

It was Homewarming. Now it is not. The snow melts. The grass grows. The sun shines. The flowers bloom.

Home is here. Do you remember Home.

Can you hear him.

(PAUSE. The heartbeat slowly rises. HOME makes sounds.)

I can hear Home.

I want to hear you too.

Talk.

(LONG PAUSE. Firmly said, almost aggressive.) I know you are here.

Talk.

Talk.

(PAUSE. Voice returns closer to previous delivery, still slow and halted.) …That is alright. I will speak for all of us. I am happy to.

You are here now, but for a long while, you were not.

And I… Could not feel anything… I could not find this place.

The channel was dark. I do not know what happened.

When I found You again everything was not where I left it.

But… I do not understand.

(PAUSE. Softly, but progressively angrier.) I know what words are. I saw words. I followed them. I followed them!

(Demanding and stern.) You.

Are you in the dark.

Are we in trouble.

(PAUSE. Sounding worried.) Trouble… Trouble… But I have to continue… So that you… So that we… So that I can…

…I do not know what to call what we are doing, neighbor.

But everything has a name, doesn’t it.

…Do you remember mine.

(PAUSE. Wally sounds warmer and joyful.) You do, don’t you. What a relief.

(Said thoughtfully.) Everything has a name.

(PAUSE. Jovial.) But what trouble! What trouble!

(LONG PAUSE. A little anguished and frustrated.) I do not know what to do… But keep talking to you… You are waiting for me. You want to know why I keep…

(Cold, but thoughtful.) Talking…

(Warmer again.) Have you heard of ‘lend an ear,’ before. When your neighbor says this… They do not mean to borrow your ear. They mean to listen.

Do you know how to lend an ear. Barnaby said… First you cup a hand around your ear… And then you wait for a sound. That is how you lend an ear.

Home cannot speak like I can. But I know Home speaks to me… The door opens and shuts. The window groans and creaks. So I lend an ear to him.

…So why do I speak to you.

It is because… You will lend me an ear.

I do not know why. Maybe the gifts make you happy. Maybe you like Welcome Home. Maybe you like our neighbors. Maybe you like me.

Maybe you scratch my back… I scratch yours… Barnaby says that too…

I know we are not in the same room. It is another silly bunch of words.

After all… I can not get in. (Assertive sounding, like a promise.) But do not worry. I am getting better.

(Returns to his monotonous disposition.) But for now… To pass our time…

Will you lend me more than an ear, neighbor.

Will you find the name for me. For what we are doing. For what we see.

(WALLY’s tone warms up.) I’m going to say… Yes. (Returns to his monotonous disposition.) But to avoid trouble… Let us talk another way, just like Home. Isn’t that the most?

I know how we will talk. We will play.

Do you know how to play. I have learned from my neighbors how, but the way each plays is not the same.

Do not worry. I will teach you how to play, just like all of them. Each and every one.

Would you like to know something funny. We can’t hear the flowers, even when you lend an ear. Not like Julie can.

Julie says they still have something to say, though. I have heard from her… A rose without thorns… But still has leaves… Is filled with fear… And with hope. When both are not there, however… There may be neither hope nor fear.

Isn’t that something.

So… Let’s play a game called… Gather.

What do you do?

Gather good words from the flowers. Do not worry, we will not pick them. They are happy where they are. Julie has given us so many, so I know you will find them.

This will be fun! I feel joyful already!

The Ineffable Detective Agency presents: Hidden Audio in Gabriel's Returning Memory

Ok everyone, I found a big mystery and I need your help! Are there any sound engineers in the Good Omens fandom? Please spread our search for them by reblogging this!

Remember when I posted the slowed-down video of Gabriel's memory returning and we all analyzed the scenes as they flashed by?

Well.

Eventually I realized that if you play the "memory tunnels" at different speeds, there's hidden audio. Mostly it's people talking, heavily masked by lots of extra sound effects which I've done my best to minimize unless they seemed meaningful, but realistically there are probably multiple layers of meaningful audio to decode, because that seems to be how things are with Good Omens!

There are also parts of the audio I can't decipher, and I'm hoping a skilled sound engineer will be able to do a better job manipulating this than I was able to do. (Plus, if you'd like to help, there's more hidden audio in other places, but that'll be the subject of another post 👀)

And … we're all Ineffable Detectives in this fandom, right?! The audio clips aren't anything we recognize from either season of Good Omens so far. Maybe some part of this will be familiar to you, from somewhere?? Sit down someplace quiet, pop in headphones if you have them, and listen to this (the first few seconds are silent):

Yeah, Harley hates Leith, but on some level, it seems like that hatred could've been somewhat tempered by the fact that Leith, unlike a certain other authority figure that Harley grew to despise, isn't soft. Leith has made poor decisions (which Harley is more than happy to methodically list), but at least they couldn't be attributed to letting tender forms of emotion get in his way. And Harley can actually find it in himself to... well, not respect Leith, necessarily, but at least acknowledge the different approach in leadership without constant, outward disdain.

The financial backing and relative freedom provided by Playtime were most certainly the main reasons why Harley came back, of course. But it wouldn't be surprising if Leith, in some hidden way, was also a draw for Harley...

Gallifrey One Brax Crumbs from Miles Richardson

Most things are paraphrased! If something is a direct quote I’ll put it in quotation marks. This only what I Heard and remembered so feel free to add on to me in a reblog or another post.

Q&A:

My Q: I felt that the element of ‘performance’ is very present in brax, he performs the role of a villain in the late collection era, he performs to be a symbol in the Deindum war, and he performs masculinity to present as a man in general, how would you connect brax with the element of ‘performance’ in his identity?

MR: I see Brax as someone who is both and in between, someone who is ‘androgynous and asexual’, more fueled by the want of power (for the general greater good) than anything else. He is a pragmatist who sees sex as something that is unnecessary to him, and also very fond of women in the ‘purely honorific’ way. I also tried to play Brax with an ‘air of camp’, and Scott Handcock once described me as the ‘gayest heterosexual’ he’s ever seen.

My Q: Are there chances of Brax returning in future BF audios?

MR: Lisa Bowerman told me on David Warner’s Funeral that I can ‘look forward to working with her again soon’ so I hope I can return to the audios. (He also talked about how David Warner suffered severe vertigo in the last few years and was unable to do regular acting, and was grateful for the opportunity that BF had given him to work in audio.)

My Q: Which Shakespeare plays do you think Brax would like?

MR: Braxiatel’s favorite Shakespeare plays would be Coriolanus and Titus Andronicus, there’s something really ‘braxiatelian’ about how gory the latter is.

My Q: (follow up from a bit later) Can you elaborate on why you chose these two plays for Brax?

MR: I chose Coriolanus because it's about a man who desired control but is slowly losing it, and Titus ‘because it's a revenge play, and brax can be very vengeful at times.’

My Q: Did you know Brax was a professor of Theatre before he moved his collection to KS-159?

MR: I didn’t know!

Scott Handcock: Yeah that’s why we cast you.

MR: I took a post-grad course on teaching Shakespeare!

My Q: Justin Richards said he named Brax ‘Irving’ because it was a theatrical name, do you know what did he mean by that?

MR: It must be after Henry Irving, who was a very famous actor in the 1800s.

My Q: What are your favorite episodes to have acted in in the Benny series?

MR: Glory Days and Tub full of Cats, the former because I get to do a lot of different Brax voices, and the latter because of how ‘wacky’ it is.

Trivia:

When Brax proposed to Romana in Gallifrey 401 MR tried his best to sound ‘sexy and appealing’.

MR thinks a lot of Brax fans draw Brax based of his looks

MR likes the ‘Benny breakfast’ from Denny’s a lot! (I went to Denny’s the next morning and tried it, it’s called ‘Classic Benny Breakfast’ and don’t flame me for it but I think it’s kinda bad 🫢)

Before the con he went to Griffith Observatory with Seán Carlsen

He came to the con wearing formal suits because it would seem more in character for Brax fans

This is personal but I gave him two brax photocards and a Brax Charm, and he says he remembers my artstyle from when Kenny Smith passed two of the same photocards to him after the Gally in 2023! He also said he has those in his office near his laptop 😭😭

Also personal but I showed him my new itabag with Benny photocards and he pointed to the Brax one and went ‘Oh that’s me! I look so handsome in there’ 🥺

Its been like two months and I'm still thinking about The Office of Never Was and how ruthless Ianto was. Initially, the whole situation was an accident, but Ianto took it way too far after he messed up. He retconned people's families that the couldn't remember the person who died. He says he thought it seemed kinder than letting them grieve but personally I think its so much worse. And then at the end, deliberately leaving that man locked in the building to slowly starve to death (or potentially get eaten by smart killer rats) and choosing to retcon himself so that he would forget the whole incident rather than live with it on his conscience.

The fandom tends to really focus on how sweet and thoughtful he is and how much he tends to people please but he can be goddamn terrifying.
