The ultimate guide to being coquette as a hijabi girlie

Being a coquette hijabi is so hard because so many of the key motifs (mini skirts/more revealing clothing, the literal meaning of the word, for example) go against what we believe in. But it's not impossible. So here are my personal favorite ways to be a coquette girlie without compromising my faith! (p.s thank you to @augusttheicedcoffeeaddict for reminding me to post this hehe ily)

The white maxi skirt  🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹

Mini skirts are a staple in so many coquette outfits and so many people will try to make you think maxi skirts aren't cute but they're just haters. A cute sweater + a pleated or tiered white maxi skirt + some crafty layering has been such a lifesaving formula for me. Blouses work great for this too. And the things you can put on top of a white maxi skirt are endless. Pretty blouses, mini dresses, sweaters, sweatshirts, even cute tshirts with long sleeved shirts underneath. Same goes for denim skirts. I'm looking for one right now and I can't find any I like, but once I do I'll be unstoppable.

Bowssss 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹

Bows. Bows are THE coquette accessory. And, thank god, you don't have to wear a mini skirt to wear bows!

Put them on literally everything. If you want to put them on your hijab, you can use a safety pin to put it on the back of your head, or you could do what I usually do, which is put them in my hijab pins. Depending on the size you can make it as subtle as you want. I have a pinterest tutorial here. (The pic on the left is me!)

So far, this has all been stuff just in the context of going out in public. At home, I highly recommend doing you hair in a coquette way and wearing things you can only have on in front of family. It's such a confidence booster. It's a bit of effort but it's so so worth it!

Her bedroom is the window into the girl's soul 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹

The coquette aesthetic is way more than just the clothes and hair. So if you really want to feel coquette, try and make your room as coquette as possible. Put up some coquette posters on your wall. A lot of coquette posters are haramcore and some people don't like putting up faces on their wall, so here are some really cute pics for inspo :3

What's in your bag? 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹

Purses can make or break a good outfit. My biggest tip is to match them to your hijab. It pulls it all together. The last thing you want is for your hijab to feel like it's clashing with the rest of the outfit.

What's inside is important too! Inner beauty isn't just for living things. Keep whatever essentials you already have, plus lipgloss, a compact mirror bc no one's out here trying to have a bad hijab day, and a little bit of ribbon. Trust me about the ribbon.

Shoes!!! 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹

Please don't wear a super cute coquette outfit and then wear tennis shoes. Just don't. Mary janes, Doc M's, and ballet flats are all really good choices.

Ik I probably sound like I'm obsessing over tiny things, but you kinda have to bc when you're breaking the mold every little thing matters.

Last but not least, do not ever ever let people make fun of you. If you're a hijabi coquette girlie, you probably have some form of a muslim community, and they probably won't dress in your style. That was my case, and when I first started wearing mary janes and lace gloves I got SO made fun of. Not from the adults, but from my friends. One girl called my mary janes dorky and said they annoyed her every time she saw them. I think she expected me to laugh, but you just have to keep a straight face and say to their face that you thought that was rude. She never called me dorky again 🤷‍♀️

Put together a collage of my Werewolf MC Hala from @barbwritesstuff Bloodmoon and decided to include some additional info and hedcanons about her.

Name: Hala bint Badr

Pronouns:she/her

Height: 5ft.5”/165.1cms

Appearance: An average height Arab woman with a tan complexion, dark brown curly hair, hazel eyes, aquiline nose and medium build. Hala is often seen wearing layered clothes, homemade jewelry, and a headscarf or hijab, usually in red.

Wolf form: Resembles an Arabian wolf with dark, brown fur, that’s darker on her back and tail tip, and lighter beige on her stomach, ears and muzzle. Hala is smaller than her packmates, with larger ears, and a shorter thinner coat.

Misc. Info & Headcanons

Hala’s name means halo around the moon in Arabic, and her surname means daughter of the full moon.

Her mother’s name was Sama which means sky in Arabic.

Sama’s  pack originally came from a desert climate but like most werewolf packs they had to move to safer territories in other countries. 

Hala’s mother never saw the ocean in person until her late teens, and she learned to swim from Jay during their brief romance. Sama later taught Hala how to swim as a way to pass on something from Jay to their daughter, other than his eye color.

Hala has a caffeine dependency but prefers tea. After moving to the city Ed introduced her to boba tea and she got hooked.

Hala prefers not to drink alcohol due to disliking the taste. As a result Hala and Farro usually wind up as designated drivers whenever their packs meet up. 

Hala is prone to getting cold easily even in her wolf form. So she often dresses in layers and/or will cuddle with pack members for warmth.

Hala and her mom used to spend a lot of time in public libraries when they used to travel. They had free textbooks and resources to help with Hala’s education, and the nicer ones even offered free classes or activities for people. 

Hala learned to make jewelry at one of those libraries and even used to sell the things she made with her mom. After joining the pack Ed helps Hala sell her jewelry online, but she still gives out jewelry for friends and loved ones for free as gifts. As a result every member of the pack owns at least one piece of jewelry or customized accessories made by Hala.

Hala also does little arts and crafts projects with the kids when she is on babysitting duty. This instantly made Hala Izzy’s favorite person when Hala made her a tiara from an old wire hanger, some beads, and glitter.

As far as Hala’s own jewelry preferences go she tends to wear clip-on earrings, usually made of copper or nickel.

Hala’s mother used to own some gold bracelets from the old country that were originally going to be passed down to Hala as a bridal gift if she found a mate. After their pack died though Sama wound up pawning the gold bracelets to support herself and Hala.

Back when Hala was still a stray she used to go out in deep water to swim on nights when there is the full moon, that way she was less likely to hurt someone late at night in the middle of the ocean or lake. Worst case scenario she might swim too far from the shore, wind up exhausting herself and drown. Hala figured that was a better risk than giving into the moon and killing someone, the Alpha and Minjo however did not agree. They were both very distressed at how casually Hala explained that she first wound up in their pack’s territory because she got lost looking for a body of water deep enough to potentially drown herself. 

Hala still keeps her mother’s seashell necklace and wears it constantly. Jay made the necklace for Sama as a gift after their first date taking her on his bike to the coastline. 

Hala learned how to apply jacket patches from Addie and Elma.

Hala’s favorite jacket is a denim and fleece jacket that used to belong to Marco. He gave it to her shortly after she first joined the pack when he noticed she’s more sensitive to the cold, and told her to keep it because she looked cuter wearing it. She started developing a crush on Marco after that and added rose patches to the sleeves so she could always be reminded of Marco when she wears it.

While Hala didn’t become as close with Vicky as she did with Ed. She always respected and admired Vicky. Sure they don’t alway agree on things but Hala understands that sometimes you have to make the hard decisions, especially since Vicky had to become another parent for Ed growing up when she was still a kid herself. After becoming the Alpha Hala knows she can trust Vicky explicitly to keep the pack safe, but she’s also trying to make Vicky understand she can also depend on Hala and the others to help protect and look after her too.

After becoming the Alpha Hala takes different jobs and learns new skills to help the pack and their new home. She starts working at a craft store so the pack gets discounts on everything from school suplies to fabrics. She becomes a certified notary to help the pack when they need to verify important documents and paperwork. She even undergoes training in her wolf form to become a registered therapy dog. 

Likewise Hala tries to encourage and support her pack members with whatever they need. Like helping take care of Minjo’s kids if she eventually decides to complete her training to become an official registered nurse.

Well , since she's back ( I'm so glad) I did some research before reply , the explanation to her abrupt departure from the modeling world was due to how she felt that her modesty / hijab were compromised. Articles also reports that she would miss prayer times and given odd items to cover her head with , ( a pair of denim jeans). She assumed she did regret how she decided to verbalize her struggles , she had not intentions to sound like she wasn't grateful for the opportunity , it was a vulnerable moment. I am sure she wasn't confident enough back then to tell brands / magazines what they should do before hiring her as a model ( consult a Muslim stylist able to explain what can or cannot align with the values of a hijab for example)

her hijab is non-negotiable and she wants to emphasizes this point in her contract , would it makes her less active on the industry ? I'm guessing .

I'm proud of her , she's trying to live her dream , respecting her belief while brings the discussion of diversity within the fashion industry (once more) to the table all at once . I admire her for sure , If in the eye of her community she didn't respect her religion enough back then I think she was young enough to not take all the blame , ultimately , she represents a religion but she's an individual first , everyone makes mistakes as individuals, even the ones that judges her

Friday Favorites

This series is highly inspired by @akitasimblr’s Sunday Crushes. The difference is, instead of sharing 5 simblr favorites, I will share simblr stories, gameplays, mods and CCs that I have been enjoying particularly through the past week. Trying to keep a balance of everything, these are this Friday’s favorites for me.

Simblr stories

Meet Virginia by @happy-lemon has been one of my most favorite story/gameplays to follow this week. This series is mainly Sims 3 gameplay screenshots with a little writing, but it is the perfect balance. The small captions convey the message in a concise and effective way while the story overall deals with many deep topics such as addiction, mental health and relationship issues. There are not a lot of posts in it yet, so I’d recommend you catch up from the beginning if you haven’t.

Harper Legacy Twice by @akitasimblr, of course, Ana had to be on this list. This is an extension of her Harper Legacy where she is following the rules of the Ice Cream Legacy challenge. Grace Harper is the generation one of the ice cream legacy and if you don’t want to read everything from Harper’s Home, which should be a very good time however, you may want to start here to catch up with Grace’s shenanigans. This gorgeous serial romantic is getting into all sorts of relationship drama while exploring her personality more. I am sure you will fall in love with her no matter how much you hate to see her dump all the cute guys in Tartosa!

Script Mods

This one is a mod which I am sure most of you are familiar with. But Lumpinou has just returned with a new version of Relationship and Pregnancy Overhaul. This is still in Beta, but the whole mod is now available to the public in 1 modular download and it's much better organized. I played around with module 16 (the new one) which is a dating app mod and loved every feature of it.

Just a disclaimer though, it is the Beta version of the mod and may contain bugs. You are advised to back up your saves before playing with it.

While playing around with it, my sim Kailee was matched with Dina Caliente. The date was very casual with no goals and the two just spent some time getting to know each other. Combined with mods like first impression and wonderful whims, this can be a very good dating solution for our sims.

If you are wondering where Kailee took her date to, it’s this Desert Bloom Park by @simmer-rhi. This is a gameplay friendly park lot that doesn’t use a lot of packs and looks really pretty for screenshots. My favorite kinda lot, really. This is going in my main save file for sure.

Khadija Saleh

Character Lore:

Khadija Saleh is a cisgender Muslim girl of mixed Egyptian and Palestinian descent.

Her parents are immigrants from Egypt and Palestine respectively.

Despite being raised in a Muslim family, she identifies as a secular Muslim. Regardless, she still practices Islam and celebrates Muslim holidays. Khadija gets a lot of flack for not wearing her hijabs all the time, but she believes that it has nothing to do with being liberated. She makes it very clear that she has her right to choose whether she wants to wear the hijab.

Her favorite artists are the Spice Girls, Monica, Destiny's Child and Mariah Carey. Khadija is the biggest Mariah Carey fangirl of the team.

She is sweet, peaceful, and full of love, but also the most mature and practical out of all the Terrestrial Kids.

Khadija's fashion style is "stylish but modest." Whenever she's not wearing her hijabs, she prefers to wear sleeveless tops, skirts and/or denim shorts (with leggings underneath) and tons of gold jewelry. She also has a habit for wearing turtlenecks on her tops.

Her everyday fashion style also incorporates some elements from her mixed heritage. She is barely seen without a Palestinian keffiyeh added to her outfit.

Khadija identifies as a pansexual. She wants to have a girlfriend or a nonbinary partner of her own, but she wants to get her baba's permission first.

She likes to collect crystals and gemstones, and has a habit for collecting golden jewelry as well.

Khadija is trilingual in English, Arabic and Spanish. She was raised in a bilingual (Arabic/English) household.

She is the head of Westshore High's Event Committee and she is responsible for choosing for the themes for the school's pep rallies, proms, and spirit weeks. She is also a photographer for the school's yearbook.

Khadija celebrates Christmas with her friends, but not the Christian aspect of the holiday.

Khadija is Bailey/Bailynn's closest (human) friend at school. They two have known each other since middle school.
