With the end of Ramadan rapidly approaching, I'd like to give attention to another Muslim doll line. Though unlike the others, this one is far less obscure...
You know them, you love them, give it up for the Arabian Friends!!!
Tumblr media
While Fulla is objectively more popular than Arabian Friends (having a longer span of releases and merchandise), I'd definitely say Arabian Friends are more talked about in western doll collecting circles. This is likely because while all the other Muslim doll lines I've found use Barbie proportions, these moreso resemble Winx or W.I.T.C.H.
Arabian Friends were released by Newboy, the company behind Fulla, in 2007. They were first teased in issues 08 and 10 of Fulla Magazine, before being officially revealed in issues 11 and 14 (the latter seen above).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Only 8 dolls in total have been released for the line: a Deluxe and a Budget doll for each of the four characters. The Deluxe sets came with two outfits, accessories, and an Abaya. The Budget sets came with one outfit and a matching Hijab. Each doll had 7 points of articulation, with bend-and-snap knees.
A third line was announced in 2008 in Fulla Magazine issue 19, advertising that whoever could answer which character had which profession would enter a raffle with the chance to receive a full Arabian Friends collection, but this ultimately never came to pass. (The answers were: Muna - Fashion Designer, Amal - Kids' Teacher, Dunya - Coach, and Ahlam - Air Hostess)
Tumblr media
It's said on Dollect there might have been an accompanying animated series, but the most I was able to find were two videos. One seems to be a trailer for the animated series.
youtube
The other includes a Back To School merchandise advertisement, and what might be an animation where the girls reminisce on when they were younger and how their aspirations led to their respective careers (the trailer seems to re-use animation from both of these).
youtube
A comment beneath the Trailer claims these were actually meant to advertise for an upcoming movie rather than a series, but no further news came out after these videos were released. If this is true it's honestly a shame, and might have been cancelled around when the third series was intended to release. The animation provided reminds me of Sailor Moon, and I would've loved to see it in a full storyline!
Tumblr media
First character up is Amal, whose name means "Hope"! Her description reads:
"Never forget that hope is the key that opens all closed doors. With hope in your heart you will never be alone and nothing in life will seem impossible.."
Amal reminds me the most of Usagi from Sailor Moon, as the animation seems to portray her personality as being kind yet clumsy. It's ironic that she eventually becomes a schoolteacher as well, considering she apparently had a habit of arriving to classes late. She's also seen tucking a child into bed, so perhaps she's a mother, older sister, or aunt as well?
While depicted in the animation as having honey blonde hair, her doll has dirty blonde hair in two low pigtails (possibly tied by pink ribbon or thread). And ironically, despite her Deluxe doll using more patterns than her friends, her Budget doll is the only one without a patterned shirt.
Tumblr media
Next is Muna, whose name means "Wish". Her description reads:
"Wishes are like bright stars in a dark sky although they are only small they fill our lives with happiness and make the darkness beautiful."
Muna is a Fashion Designer with an eye for intricate design and detail. She spends a good amount of time in her studio, seen drawing on her friend's leg cast and her highschool classroom's chalkboard. At one point, Muna is also seen helping an elderly woman across the street, so clearly her devotion to her work doesn't stop her from being charitable when she can be!
Her fashion style in both doll and animated form definitely seems the most bold out of her friends, reminding me of when 2000s-era fashion would draw inspiration from the 70s! While in the animation she and Dunya were depicted with tanned olive skin, their dolls have the same skintone as Amal and Ahlam. She has brown hair with red highlights. In the animation her hair was often depicted with side part bangs and a headband. However, her Deluxe doll has a red beanie, and her Budget doll has a middle part with braids coming down on either side of her head.
Tumblr media
Ahlam's name means "Dreams". Her description reads:
"Dreams are like beautiful butterflies that fly in the wide blue sky. It is good to have dreams because they take you to a place where anything is possible.."
Ahlam is apparently a pianist in addition to her Air Hostess job, having dreamt of flying since she was in school. She seems to be portrayed as considerate and low-key, which aligns with her cool blue color scheme!
Her doll's fashion style seems to be Boho Chic, with beads, frills, and florals. In the animation her hair is short, with a side part and a blue butterfly barrette. Her doll, meanwhile, wears her black and blue hair beneath a navy cap in her Deluxe look, and a middle part tied back in her Budget look. Visually, she reminds me of Ami Mizuno!
Tumblr media
And last but not least, Dunya! Her name means "Life", and her description reads:
"Your friendship is like a beautiful flower to me. Your nice words, kind deeds and positive attitude are sure to be rewarded with happiness and love.."
Dunya seems to be a healthy eater, going to someone's house with a bowl of greens (salad or kale perhaps?), and making a smoothie while on the phone. She also does stretches and runs on her treadmill. All of this makes her the perfect fit for a coaching position!
Weirdly enough, her hairstyle in the animation is exactly like Amal's doll, with two low pigtails tied by pink ribbon. Her doll, meanwhile, has brown hair in a side part tied in a high pony with silver elastics (giving me Vidia vibes tbh). Her olive green fashion seems to be relatively modern (at least for the 2000s) and urban. Her clothes are the ones I can most easily see on a Bratz doll!
Tumblr media
Overall, I simply adore this line!!! It feels more character-focused than other ones I've covered, and I'm a sucker for such strong color-blocking! It's hard for me to even pick a favorite, since their centralized aesthetics are all so compelling and unique! If anyone who knows Arabic would be able to translate what they say in the animations, I'll happily add an addendum to this post for clarification!
It's a shame the line and its movie was cancelled before it could receive the acclaim it deserved, I would've loved to see what more it had to offer! Regardless, I'm thoroughly impressed with what they managed to put out, and hope the designers have been able to apply their clear talents in other endeavors!
Ramadan Kareem!

The ultimate guide to being coquette as a hijabi girlie
Tumblr media
Being a coquette hijabi is so hard because so many of the key motifs (mini skirts/more revealing clothing, the literal meaning of the word, for example) go against what we believe in. But it's not impossible. So here are my personal favorite ways to be a coquette girlie without compromising my faith! (p.s thank you to @augusttheicedcoffeeaddict for reminding me to post this hehe ily)
Also!!! No hate to the coquette girlies who do wear mini skirts etc.
The white maxi skirt  🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Mini skirts are a staple in so many coquette outfits and so many people will try to make you think maxi skirts aren't cute but they're just haters. A cute sweater + a pleated or tiered white maxi skirt + some crafty layering has been such a lifesaving formula for me. Blouses work great for this too. And the things you can put on top of a white maxi skirt are endless. Pretty blouses, mini dresses, sweaters, sweatshirts, even cute tshirts with long sleeved shirts underneath. Same goes for denim skirts. I'm looking for one right now and I can't find any I like, but once I do I'll be unstoppable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bowssss 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Bows. Bows are THE coquette accessory. And, thank god, you don't have to wear a mini skirt to wear bows!
Put them on literally everything. If you want to put them on your hijab, you can use a safety pin to put it on the back of your head, or you could do what I usually do, which is put them in my hijab pins. Depending on the size you can make it as subtle as you want. I have a pinterest tutorial here. (The pic on the left is me!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Heart shaped sunglasses 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Another coquette/vintage americana staple you can wear!
Berets 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Same thing!
Fuzzy white earmuffs 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
These are SOSOSO perfect for winter. (pic on the left is me again heh)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
At home 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
So far, this has all been stuff just in the context of going out in public. At home, I highly recommend doing you hair in a coquette way and wearing things you can only have on in front of family. It's such a confidence booster. It's a bit of effort but it's so so worth it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her bedroom is the window into the girl's soul 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
The coquette aesthetic is way more than just the clothes and hair. So if you really want to feel coquette, try and make your room as coquette as possible. Put up some coquette posters on your wall. A lot of coquette posters are haramcore and some people don't like putting up faces on their wall, so here are some really cute pics for inspo :3
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
What's in your bag? 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Purses can make or break a good outfit. My biggest tip is to match them to your hijab. It pulls it all together. The last thing you want is for your hijab to feel like it's clashing with the rest of the outfit.
What's inside is important too! Inner beauty isn't just for living things. Keep whatever essentials you already have, plus lipgloss, a compact mirror bc no one's out here trying to have a bad hijab day, and a little bit of ribbon. Trust me about the ribbon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shoes!!! 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Please don't wear a super cute coquette outfit and then wear tennis shoes. Just don't. Mary janes, Doc M's, and ballet flats are all really good choices.
Ik I probably sound like I'm obsessing over tiny things, but you kinda have to bc when you're breaking the mold every little thing matters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lastly <3 🦢˚✧𓂃🩰 ໒꒱ ⋆ ˚ ⊹
Last but not least, do not ever ever let people make fun of you. If you're a hijabi coquette girlie, you probably have some form of a muslim community, and they probably won't dress in your style. That was my case, and when I first started wearing mary janes and lace gloves I got SO made fun of. Not from the adults, but from my friends. One girl called my mary janes dorky and said they annoyed her every time she saw them. I think she expected me to laugh, but you just have to keep a straight face and say to their face that you thought that was rude. She never called me dorky again 🤷‍♀️
Take this post as a reminder that you can stay true to your faith while looking fabulous. If you have any questions pls pls feel free to ask anything. Ily all honeys, bye ♡

Can I request something for yandere merman Kakyoin? :>
My idea is he not actually a merman but a sea witch with octopus body, just like Ursula in My little mermaid. He use his potion to turn into a merman to attract his darling because he know their darling will be afraid of his real form. He want to capture darling to be his mate forever.
Well that's my idea, feel free to be creative with the plot :D thank you so much
Never thought our boy who looks like Ariel was Ursula the whole time... now that I think about it Hierophant Green works perfectly with this. Kakyoin is a mimic octopus which allows him to change his skin and body to look like other things, which combined with magic you really don't stand a chance. This is from Kakyoin's perspective mostly. Reader is gender neutral but more feminine presenting because who doesn't love a pretty enby. I also do masc and andro too but why not mix it up. If you want a particular gender don't be afraid to ask!
Merrow=Nonbinary mermaid
Reel You In
You were perfect...
Bright (e/c) eyes, wide smile on your plush lips, shiny (h/c) hair
A true gem, a real pearl if you will
His treasure
His pretty little merrow
How did he mean you in all your divinity?
Kakyoin was taking stock of his ingredients, after all his magic still required special herbs and items of the deep. His green and white striped tentacles filtered through the vials and drawers. He was low on whale fat and Leviathan scales. Kakyoin sighed it would take him ages to find these rare ingredients. Leviathans aren't usually fond of getting rid of their scales. He'll have to scour the specialty market for these ingredients. The unfortunate thing is it only opens when the ocean is darkest. He gathered his cloak off the large mer skeleton it was hanging off of. He put on his cloak and swam into the darkness.
The market was full of sketchy characters per usual, nobody good came to the Night Market unless they were desperate. It was swarming with thieves, witches, and the usual assortment of outcasts and criminals' merfolk told stories of to make their fry behave. Of course, he was one of them so there was no room to complain. He was browsing the stalls when a heavy force knocked into him. His amethyst eyes filled with annoyance, someone was already trying to rob him, and he just got here. He snatched his satchel back and glared at the offender who apologized?
"I'm so sorry sir, I wasn't watching where I was swimming. Did you lose anything from your bag?" Intriguing. Looking at the figure in front on him he could tell they didn't belong. (h/l) (h/c) styled with a pretty white ribbon (if bald or hijab its tied around your neck). Wide (e/c) orbs full of innocence he'd not seen in a while (your innocent compared to him bro). You were very attractive in his eyes as it's not often to see someone be so decent in his line of work.
"Sir? Sir? Oh no did I hit you too hard?!" The merrow's worried voice broke him out of his thoughts. "Oh, no I'm fine no harm has been done. Mx. ..." You laughed which was a genuine laugh, not one full of malice, just pure joy. Kakyoin wishes he could capture that laugh and put it in a jar. "(Y/N) my name is (Y/N)." Oh, they were so trusting, the naive little thing. "Kakyoin, but you may call me Noriyaki." (Y/N) grinned at this and swished their shiny tail back and forth. "Okay Noriyaki it's so very nice to meet you! Oh no I need to go before the market closes! See you, Nori!" The cheerful merrow swam off leaving Kakyoin paralyzed in awe. Suddenly, finding those materials didn't seem so interesting.
Kakyoin hadn't slept well in a while, thoughts of a special little merrow kept him awake. Your beautiful face invaded his dreams, your laugh haunted his every waking moment, your coquettish smile taunted him so. Oh, you had no idea how much you drove him crazy! He had been neglecting his work to watch you from his seer glass. You were even more irresistible in your day-to-day life.
You were coming back from shopping eagerly talking to yourself about the new tops you bought when you bumped into a cecaelia. You were rather clumsy, weren't you? Now you would apologize profusely and offer this merfolk your aid. What shocked Kakyoin was when you froze at the sight of the person before you and swam away in a panic. How unusual of sweet little you. What could cause such a reaction? He hadn't seen you act so rashly even with the most intimidating fish folk but this ceacaelia made you swim away with fear he has never seen before. Does it mean?
No
NO.
You were afraid of cecaelia.
You were afraid of him.
Kakyoin's fantasy of finding you again and courting you was ruined, all because you were afraid of cecaelia. He was spiraling fast. He smashed bottles and flipped his cauldron over in a fit of rage. He never hated having tentacles in his life but now he wanted to rip them all off. His blue blood leaking from his hands reminding him of his physical imperfection. If only he was born a merman like you... then I idea struck him.
Maybe reaching you wasn't impossible.
Pain, throbbing pain was all Kakyoin felt. His tentacles felt like they were ripped clean off, but it was worth it for the emerald and silver fish tail he had now. Kakyoin was stumbling around like a guppy trying to get used to their fins for the first time. It was taking some practice, but he was getting used to it. Soon he'd be perfect. Perfect for you. Once he's reeled you in, he'd show the real him, but by then
You can't escape
Kakyoin was positively giddy with all the feelings of love he felt for you. All he needed to do was find his beloved but make it seem like a coincidence. After all, you were naive but a bit skittish. All the more reason to keep you safe from dangerous creatures of the ocean and take a delicate approach to get to you. After observing you for so long he knew where you liked to go and when. By now you would be gathering human trinkets at the abandoned ship you frequently explored. He couldn't care less about humans and their dirty little tools, but you loved them so and he loved you. He received a particularly shiny trinket from a recent customer (victim), a shining bejeweled brooch. Something irresistible for a little merrow such as yourself. Kakyoin could practically see the big sparkling eyes you would make at such a priceless treasure.
Kakyoin swam over to a lopsided piece of wood to hide behind and think of how to approach you organically. Muttering to himself plan after plan unaware of the curious merrow eyeing the distressed merman. Kakyoin felt a tentative tap on the shoulder. He flushed as he made eye contact with his darling, who smiled so brightly at him. They were so beautiful when they smiled so sweetly at him. "Did you need help-oh you're that guy from the market um... Norisaki?" You remembered him... sort of. What a wonderful thing!
"Noriyaki, I'm surprised you remembered me." Kakyoin chuckled to himself. You smiled at him before blushing slightly. "It's kind of hard not to since our meeting was so embarrassing." You were the type to allow embarrassing moments to dwell in your head long after they occurred. It was quite cute. "It's quite alright neither of us were truly harmed. Are you usually so hard on yourself?" Your flushed face grew even more red with the last sentence. "Um...I hold my silence?" Kakyoin laughed at your meek response.
"That's quite alright... you know between you and me I happen to come to this sunken ship for human treasures." At the words "human treasures" your eyes lit up like bioluminescent phytoplankton at the thought of finding a kindred spirit. "I didn't know other merfolk liked human things, most of my friends call their things garbage." You looked down sadly as you finished your sentence, tracing the water rotted wooden beam in your hand. Kakyoin placed a hand of yours and stared at you with his mesmerizing purple eyes. "Some people don't understand something's value if it isn't immediately obvious." Kakyoin pulls out the glimmering brooch that shone in the filtered light of the ocean, bringing out the (e/c) of your eyes.
"It's absolutely beautiful." You marveled at the brilliant emeralds and rubies that made up the serpent pendent. In all your trips here, you had never found something so opulent before. Only thing close was a rusty spoon. Kakyoin noticed your eagerness with a tender smile. "You can have it if you want." You looked curiously at the merman seeing if he was being serious. "I'm not going to bite you; you can take it." Kakyoin smiled as the merrow hesitantly took the brooch from his outstretched hand. Yes, everything was going to plan, he imbued that brooch with magic so he could track where you go. Like the serpent in mythology, Kakyoin was not to be trusted.
"Thank you so much Nori!"
"You're welcome, my darling."
His plan was working smoothly as you were practically eating anything he told you straight from his palm. You were so sweet and trusting, it made his heart melt from fervent worship. He adored you more than anyone ever could, that alone should make him worthy of you. However, his fish disguise wore off after 48 hours and he'd be put through hell again to bring back the illusion. It wasn't the slightest bit healthy to keep this act up, but it would be all worth it in the end. When he had you safely in his arms.
His precious little mate
He'd find a way for you to have children, through magic or adoption. That way when you accept him you would be fully bound to each other. Forever. A blue flush covers his faces as he giggles to himself, oh you two would have so many wonderful years together! Just you and him and no one else.
Of course, there were a few road bumps Kakyoin needed to face first.
Your friends were skeptical of his intentions towards you as he looked familiar to a certain sea witch who was known for taking advantage of the poor souls who came to him out of sheer desperation. He couldn't let them continue to poison your mind with their deceitful words (where's the lie tho?). His amethyst eyes glinted with sadistic glee as one by one your friends were placed under his thumb as they came to him for help for problems he caused.
Poor darling, you had no idea why all your friends suddenly disappeared without a trace. The towns people became suspicious of you, thinking you were the reason all these merfolk disappeared. You were ripe with insecurity for Kakyoin to harvest. You fit perfectly in his arms as you sobbed about how life seemed to dole out more that your fair share of problems. "Kakyoin I don't know what I've done to deserve this, do you think my friends hate me?"
Hate you? No one could be capable of hating you, and the wretches who do will be swiftly dealt with. "They aren't worth your tears; good friends wouldn't disappear without telling you. Besides I'm here with you, aren't I?" You gave him that adorable grin that he loved so much. "You're right I have you."
Kakyoin was positively giddy as he swam around his lair, cleaning as best as he could. He convinced you to seek out the guidance of the Emerald Sea Witch, and you took it like the naive, trusting little thing you were. He couldn't wait to show you his real form and seal your souls together via contract. Humming a hypnotic tune to himself and swaying his tentacles sensually, he heard a sweet little frightened voice call out. "Hello, I'm looking for the Emerald Sea Witch."
Kakyoin swam to the darkest corner of his shadowy lair and grinned to himself. His hard work was paying off. Now to reel you in. "You've come to the right place little merrow." He purred sweetly to you. You looked confused as you heard the familiar voice, why did the witch sound like your friend. "My friend told me you might know about the recent disappearances of the merfolk."
He couldn't hold back his chuckle, he had to restrain himself from holding you in his tentacles and peppering you with kisses. You were just too precious. "You'll have to be more specific darling; merfolk are always going missing." You back into the merskeleton where he hangs his cloaks, causing you to squeak with fright. He should have put that away. You were trembling with fear, yet you balled your shaky fists with resolve. Turning to the direction Kakyoin was lounging you spoke shakily. "The merfolk who went missing were my friends, I would like to know if they are alive." The last part made your voice crack with sadness. Seeing you waste your tears on such scum made his cheeks color with rage.
Patience
Kakyoin steadied himself and spoke once more.
"I'll make a deal with you little merrow, I'll find your friends and even let you see them..." Your eyes lit up with glee before turning a bit skeptical. "What do you want in return?" Kakyoin smiled widely in the dark, just a little bit more and you'll be in his tentacles. "I want you to give me rare treasure." The treasure he was referring to was you, but he knew that you would foolishly think the pendant would suffice.
"Deal."
"Excellent, just sign here." Kakyoin snapped his fingers and a golden contract appeared in front of you. If you were smarter, you would notice the fine print entailing that the treasure in question, was your soul bound to his for eternity. You took the quill without hesitation and signed your name on the dotted line.
He did it!
You were his!
"Now where are my friends?" Kakyoin rolled a single vial to you, inside were the trapped souls of your friends crying for you to help them. You gasped in terror and attempted to flee. Two tentacles wrapped around your waist and pulled you towards him. "Not so fast my dear you haven't finished your end of the deal; I want my rare treasure."
You sobbed in terror at the appendages you hated your entire life, octopus were your kind's natural predator. "Take it, just let me go." You grabbed the broach out of your worn satchel and threw it in the witch's direction. "I thought you'd be smarter than that (Y/N)." It clicked as to who was the sea witch. "No." You wanted to curl up into a ball as Kakyoin laughed at the misery in your voice. "Now (Y/N) is that anyway to speak to an old friend."
Kakyoin stepped into the glowing light the cauldron produced making you cry out in fear, anger, and betrayal. "You're not my friend, you lied to me!" You pulled further a the grasp of the tentacles attempting to escape the red head, but he pulled you closer and nuzzled his face into your neck. "I know that I have been a bit dishonest with my method of courting you, but I promise to be more honest in the future." "People will come looking for me and you'll be sorry then!" Kakyoin looked you in your frightened (e/c) eyes and frowned. He then plucked the white ribbon from your hair and sent a magical current towards the town.
"No one will look for you if they think your dead my treasure." Kakyoin cooed gently. "Now then lets finish this courting process, I want us to officially become mates." This statement caused more sobbing from your end as a silver collar appeared around your neck.
"Why?" Was all you could muster. Kakyoin swayed hypnotically with you in his arms. "How couldn't I when you reeled me in."
Sorry if the ending sucked I just wanted to make room for new requests and start working more on my reincarnated sins posts and a cult village story with my own yandere ocs. I hope you enjoyed

For myself, im particularly protective of ribbon skirts & shirts because of their history of use in my tribe especially. I know depending on the tribe that history or usage might vary a little, but I know for Crees that they were & are worn for ceremonies & cultural events, and a lot of the time it was also because Ndns were/are poor & lower class & these skirts were home made. The ribbons also definitely mean something & have spiritual importance. And like yeah you don't HAVE to ONLY wear them to ceremonies, but there's heavy association with them and ceremonies (& this is why some people think they should still be modest in design, because you weren't really wearing it specifically to show off, you were wearing it to go to a sacred event. I think a close analogy might be like to wearing a hijab in a Mosque).
So I kinda give a side eye when I see ppl who aren't Native suddenly expressing desire to wear them just because they "look pretty". Ribbon skirts started gaining popularity in the public eye bc ndns started wearing them as a show of traditional fashion & anti assimilation & resistance (which is why ppl wear them to protests). So like moniyaws are wearing them for no reason other than that it looks nice, we wear them because of spiritual, religious, political, & cultural importance

This shatweh (Bethlehem hat) has three rows of silver coins, below which is a row of token coins. The hat is edged with gold coins dating from the Ottoman period (AD 1808, in the reign of Mahmoud II). There is multicoloured cross-stitch and couching down the sides to the small flaps into which the chin-chain was hooked. At one time there may have been two triangular silver pieces (hijab - amulets) attached to the flaps as well. The chin-chain is made up of five silver chains often with crescents dangling from them. The sign of the crescent moon and the number five used to be considered strong protection against the evil eye. Chin-chains of many types were worn all over Palestine. By the 1930s the silver chain was going out of fashion, at least in Bethlehem, and the hats were held in place by ribbons. Eventually people stopped wearing the shatweh altogether.

some cute ways to make ur uniform more interesting!!🤍🐇🌸🧁🩰💿
1~ wear hairstyles with ribbons 🎀 this can make ur uniform so much more girly and fun and it will keep ur hair neat! if u wear a hijab u can add ribbon pins as well
2~ if your school has a jumper then wear one, even cuter if you have it oversized! you can also wear cardigans and sweater vests ♡
3~ leg warmers or scrunched down socks are really cute over tights, but you can also wear them without tights as well. I have a couple different socks that I alternate between, like ones with bows on them and white and grey ones etc
4~ you could use ribbon or lace instead of shoelaces and polish your shoes to make them shiny! °•~▪︎°•°~
5~ having a cute bag is soo important! messenger and tote bags are really cute, but backpacks are a lot more practical and can still be cute with keyrings and bows etc
6~ there are lots of accessories you can use such as headphones, wired earbuds, scarves, earmuffs, mittens and jewlerry - just have fun with it !! <3
this is my first longish post so sorry if its weird/ has spelling mistakes 🍓

I'm curious bc in your bio you identified that you're ethnically latine and native american, but also muslim and wear a niqab. So are you a convert? Was there anything in particular (that you're comfortable sharing) that made you decide to choose Islam and to choose to wear full a covering? I hope this doesnt sound rude. You have a very unique background and I find it interesting!
I am a convert, yes, I converted to Islam when I was maybe 12? So about half of my life I have been Muslim. Given it’s been so long, I can’t exactly remember the specifics of what drew me to Islam, but I grew up in a city with a sizable Muslim population so I did have at least some exposure to Islam and maybe that lead to me being drawn in to it, but I remember even as I was little being fascinated with Islam and wanted to mimic all the Muslim women I would see in my life.
Also while most of the latine community in my area (and Mexicans in general) are Catholic (though in my experience the catholicism mixed with a fair deal of folk religion), I gotta say there was very little about Catholicism that was appealing, especially given you know, colonialism and such.
My decision to wear a niqab happened much later in my life, largely coinciding with my first moments of freedom to choose how I dress and what I do with my life as well as my exploration of my gender. I tried various ways of dressing, both Islamic and non-Islamic, my first couple years of college--I would wear a hoodie and jeans one day, only to wear a thawb and kufi the next and grow out my beard, then a hijab and tunic, then a dress with a turban, then a niqab. And I just found that the niqab is what made me happiest and feel most myself, both with gender and my faith. Probably one of my favourite outfits is a ribboned skirt, huipil, and niqab :)
I suppose my background is a tad unique, though personally I know a handful of fellow Muslims who are native american/first nations/indigenous.
While being Muslim, though I do still appreciate aspects of the folk-catholicism I grew up around, and I also have been learning and immersing myself in mexica religion and spirituality since its important to me. Personally I love seeing how different people incorporate Islam into their own cultural practices and beliefs.

Writing Bingo: Shopping Trip
Kingdom Hearts. AU. Originally suggested by @human-nxture with the DisneyKnight!Ventus AU as she didn't really specify which AU in particular at the time, but that was the more recent one of mine. In which Sabrina takes a regretful Xion on a personalized shopping trip for new clothes. Full story under the Read More cut. 670 words.
Feel free to send an empty space as a prompt through my ask here: link
Tumblr media
Could Nobodies feel regret?
It had been a few days since Xion has been in Wasteland. Riku decided that Xion should spend her time away from the Organization in Wasteland. It was a world that sat so close to darkness, it shockingly felt not too dissimilar to The World That Never Was. Perhaps that was why Riku trusted her here.
That didn’t stop her from hiding in the princess’s room. Going out felt too risky. Roxas and her had several missions here- that meant it was on the Organization's radar.
“Get up, we’re going shopping.”
“Uh, what?” Xion questioned as she broke from her thoughts.
Standing at the end of her bed was the princess of Wasteland herself, Sabrina. In some ways, the princess reminded Xion of Larxene. It was that coldness toward others, verbally tearing them apart when the opportunity struck- and it struck often enough, apparently. But there was something about Sabrina that Larxene didn’t seem to have. A heart was the obvious answer, however something felt a bit deeper than that. Like the light in Sabrina was kept under a dark blanket of fog, whereas Larxene simply had hers purposely extinguished.
“We’re going shopping.” Sabrina repeated, no less irked than before. “I’m not letting you have existential crises in my bed.”
“But the Organization...”
“Hasn’t spotted you out here yet.” she all but snapped at Xion. “They’ll find you even less if we can find you a well fitting outfit and tasteful headscarf. Anything other than that ugly black coat.”
By instinct, Xion pulled her coat a bit tighter to her body.
“But what if I need to travel through the Corridor of Darkness? It wouldn’t be safe otherwise.” the Nobody asked. For this, the princess scrunched her nose in disgust.
“It’s not like we’re getting rid of it,” she said. “Not yet, anyway.”
The assertion did not help in the slightest.
And yet, somehow, Xion soon found herself at Sabrina’s favorite tailor.
“She needs… pop.” Sabrina told the tailor as they looked over Xion, who had taken off the black coat and been given a white smock to be scrutinized in. “Something that gives her a unique figure while keeping it modest. What do you think?”
The tailor nodded their head.
“Yes, yes I can see it now.” they agreed in a thick accent. “Do not worry, princess. Your friend is about to have the best shopping trip of her life!”
Sabrina gave a smile that looked more like a smirk. “Good.”
That was something Xion didn’t quite understand Sabrina. The more she learned about her, the more it all seemed contradictory to who Sabrina really wanted to be. Again, another departure of what made her and Larxene similar.
Sabrina overlooked everything the tailor did to Xion. In the end, they had dressed her in a flowing, dark grey linen blouse and a black corset-styled vest. A long tulle skirt that reached her ankles just barely hit the white ribbon used to adorn the black boots she was now wearing. To complete the look, the tailor had made careful work of the headscarf now wrapped around Xion’s head like a hijab. Xion looked at herself in the mirror and almost didn’t recognize herself.
Sabrina had never looked happier.
The two girls left the tailor with their arms linked. Waiting for them there was Riku. He didn’t look at Xion twice before asking Sabrina;
“Sabrina, where is Xion?” He folded his arms in either annoyance or distress- Xion couldn’t tell which. “I went to your room and she wasn’t there.”
Xion and Sabrina exchanged a glance.
“Riku, you can’t tell?” Xion wondered.
Riku looked her way. Then something clicked in his mind.
“Oh!” he remarked. He happened to look back at Sabrina and the smug cat-like grin on her face. “Oh...”
“See,” Sabrina boastfully told Xion, “If Riku can’t recognize you, Xion, then neither will the Organization.”
Xion looked down at the ground, a small smile on her lips.
“Yeah,” she found herself agreeing, “I guess so.”

Hello you all I've got a burning question for something in destiny 2.
Has anyone thought how they could make a cosplay of one of the earlier members of the witnesses species?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
That looks like it's gonna be tricky to make a cosplay of one of these that I had been calling desert people in my head cannon...
Here's some stuff that I do know that I've analyzed....
-They have three long ribbon things coming out of their backs but idk if they are sown on the hood or they wear a neck scarf that has the three sown to them.
-They could have them sown on from the back of the neck fabric.
-The type of fabric is probably a thickish soft cotton fabric.
-They probably wear a normal sized rectangular scarf over their faces if not a triangular one.
-also If these guys had existed in the real world. These cloaks probably would be any color but dark colored and light colored unless the destiny devs give us more info about their cloak things.
...
Any ideas on how one might be able to make an outfit of what these guys would actually wear irl?
Like how would one would do the folds of the fabric of like what they got going on with their cloaks in the screenshots. Or should it be like a normal Clark pattern but it's more like long cloak dress with long sleeves and the hood.
It's probably gonna be challenging for the cosplayer to create one of these out fit thingys.
This is a design of one so far and I may need to analyze images of burkas and hijabs later to help the cosplayers who want to create these outfits to have an easier time on making them look right and on how to design it.
Tumblr media
Btw tbh these outfits look very comfortable to wear in the colder weather and I wanna wear one of these.
Also was these images from the actual screenshots from the season of the deep cutscene ai generated? If so I want to know the excat ai, promt, and style that was used to create some of them so I can make more probably to help out with this cosplay if there will be one of them one day.

A Cuisine Under Siege
I couldn’t rescue my aunt in Gaza, but I can keep her recipes alive.
Though I’ve lived abroad most of my life, Gaza is where I call home. It's where my parents were born and raised and where I spent summers as a child. Whenever we’d return, we’d be welcomed back by our large extended family. First among them was my aunt An’am Dalloul, whom we called Khalto Um Hani: “mother of Hani,” her eldest child and my cousin. She’d always arrive bearing a bowl of sumagiyya, Gaza City’s signature meat stew with chard, sumac, and chickpeas—and my father's favorite meal. Um Hani, along with my cousins Hoda, Wafaa, and Hani, were killed in an Israeli airstrike in their residential Gaza City neighborhood in November 2023. In an instant, the household perished, my cousin Nael later told me. Only a skeleton of the building was left. He recounted the horrific scene over WhatsApp—how he gathered their remains in his arms and buried them in a mass grave under heavy Israeli bombardment, how he failed to retrieve the corpse of one of his sisters, and how his brother bled to death before paramedics could reach him. Nael, like 90 percent of Gazans at the time of writing, is displaced, fleeing with his children from one city to the next in search of shelter, food, and some semblance of safety. He has been surviving on canned beans for more than three months. Nael’s news shook me to my core. I couldn’t sleep. I couldn't eat. I was overwhelmed with a profound sense of helplessness and despair. Was it only a matter of time before the rest of my family in Gaza would perish?  As I read Nael’s texts, the memories came flooding back. Of Um Hani cooking in her bright, breezy kitchen wearing the traditional white hijab and light blue jalabiya. Of the birthmark on her face and her soft olive skin. Of her husky voice and the gentle laugh that masked the fierce and determined woman underneath. Um Hani was an anchor to me, a link to the paternal grandmother I never met and to a city I often felt estranged from. She was a repository of memories, a key to the fragmented world to which I belonged as a Palestinian. She taught me to make the near-forgotten dishes my grandmother loved, the ones my father grew up eating such as adas wi batata (lentils and potatoes cooked in a clay pot with lemon and fried garlic) and samak il-armala (“widow’s fish,” or fried eggplants with chiles and ribbons of fresh basil). But as fate would have it, she never got the chance to show me how to make sumagiyya—her specialty, brimming with lamb and spiced with dill seeds and cumin.
[...]
I live in the United States now, and I’ve cooked sumagiyya more times than I can count—even if it never tastes quite like Um Hani’s. One occasion stands out. It was May 2021, and Gaza City was being pummeled in what was the fourth major assault by Israel on Gaza in 14 years. The attack coincided with Eid, and as I watched on my screen in Clarksville, Maryland horrific images of air raids and grief-stricken mothers, I suddenly felt the urge to make a pot of sumagiyya.Serving it to my family and friends that night, despite the unfolding tragedy, was unexpectedly liberating and affirming.   Last month, I again found myself in tears chopping onions and chard for sumagiyya, but this time I was making it to honor Um Hani’s memory. Like in 2021, I couldn’t look away from the news: The park where I used to take my son for evening strolls, the beach promenade where I drank sage tea with my mother, the university where I gave guest lectures—they were all unrecognizable piles of overturned dirt and warped wire.
[...]
Lately, I’ve been thinking about what I would go back to, and what I would find, if I returned to Gaza. Most of the landmarks have been destroyed. Gone too are many of the people I cherished. But with Ramadan fast approaching, and with no end in sight to the bombardment, it feels like I am the torchbearer now, the family’s keeper of treasured recipes. Like Um Hani, I will cook and I will teach, connecting the next generation of Palestinians to our homeland.

Muslim Scooby gang headcanons
I was having thoughts last night going like... What if All of them were Muslim and I wish to share
Okay first things first HIJABI DAPHNE!!!! Modest fashion icon Daphne with different hijab styles every day wearing all the cute accessories from headpieces to earrings to hats and big ribbons. All the hijab styles!!! All the accessories!!!
Imagine Daphne chasing down monsters in pretty colourful abayas and fighting monsters wearing those loose flowy pants that look like a skirt when you’re standing still she’d look so majestic
Velma I imagine wouldn’t wear hijab consistently/very often. A part time hijabi at most but mainly she’s more comfortable wearing hijab when going to anything cultural/religious but day to day - not so much.
Shaggy probably doesn’t care so much about what his hijab is like. Will go out wearing shorts if he’s comfortable.
Fred cares a bit more. He’d go to beaches with everything from belly button to knee covered.
Shaggy is still scared of ghosts. Everyone tries to tell him ghosts aren’t real, as Muslims we don’t believe in ghosts and Shaggy just yells that GHOSTS MAY NOT BE REAL BUT THE DJINN ARE AND THATS EVEN WORSE
oh oh oh food hcsssss
So when they’re together they find a halal restaurant and food is no issue. They are gently reminding each other to care for your feeding habits and keep the food halal.
But when they’re alone, not all of them take care of their eating that well
Shaggy will eat anything as long as it’s not pork
Daphne eats mostly halal but if it’s kosher and doesn’t contain alcohol then she’ll eat that too
Fred and Velma both eat halal only but Fred believes that all seafood and shellfish is fine and Velma believes some shellfish such as lobster etc are not
They also all have different stances on dogs
Velma believes they’re haram. Does have a soft spot for Scooby but lowkey feels guilty every time she touches him
Shaggy thinks they’re fine
Daphne believes they’re najis in the way that they’re fine to touch as long as they’re not wet so she tends to avoid it but does give in cause Scooby’s cute. As long as Scooby doesn’t lick her.
Fred has a similar belief except he’s more paranoid than Daphne and will rather avoid Scooby regardless of whether he’s wet or not because he finds it troublesome to clean himself after touching a dog
Fred’s paranoia does lead to them having bottles and bottles of water pre-mixed with soil in the van just so it’s easier for them to clean everything when needed and the gang uses them a lot.
There’s this belief that angels won’t enter a house that a dog is in. Fred and Velma believe this and would rather Scooby not have the same living quarters as them. Daphne is fine with whatever. Shaggy argues that he was told the dogs barking is what chases the angels away and Scooby barely barks so it doesn’t matter anyway.
How that conversation ends idk because in my head they all live in the van and no one has the heart to kick Scooby out the van at night.
How do they all sleep in the van and take care of their aurat i also dont know they can figure it out
