I wanted to say that I also agree with both intakes and those who overall theorize that the person/entity that owns Alastor's soul is either Eve or Roo.

Honestly, Idk if Eve and Roo are different or the same. Maybe they started as two separate entities, but after Eve ate the forbidden apple, they slowly became one. Kind of like how it seemed that Roo was an entity and not just a concept, what allowed Roo to get released in the physical world was the ingestion and possession of Eve… or maybe I'm just sippling.

Anyway, I think the main reason why I feel am not Alastor's contractor is because I just have this feeling that she is not a threat. The show makes it seem as if she was sort of conspiring against hell, but it does not make sense to me for a person who was basically that face of the resistance to sort of be a threat to Charlie and hell in general. She seems sketchy, not going to lie, and that whole thing of both Lilith and Alastor disappearing at the same time is highly suspicious, but idk… maybe I'm crazing but I do not feel such animosity from Alastor to Lilith.

One could look at Al's reaction to Lucifer as maybe a remainder to whom he may a deal (if it was Lilith), besides the obvious of him maybe threatening his position at the hotel. But if that was the case, I would think he would not act the way he does with Charlie. Yes, it can be argued that acts that way because he is trying to manipulate Charlie into something regarding the deal (probably… he is but we are uncertain of what he might really go for with the deal he made), but it just does not add. He might have a soft spot for women, but it does not add that he acted mildly with Charlie (the daughter of the person who owns his soul, in this scenario) when just the mention of him being on a leash had him losing his cool like he did with Husk in ep5. It does not add that he had a mental breakdown because he might have almost gotten attached and risked his life for this group of people (also because he might have overestimated his powers, and we do not exactly know how much the deal restricts him in terms of power). I totally see him working alongside her because he must gain what he has, but I just do not see it being so "friendly" with her. Or maybe I am just underestimating his acting skills.

My point is that (at least in my head, and the way I interpreted the situation) I see more possibility that Eve/Roo/something else is the one holding Al's soul and not Lilith. Now, again, it is really weird that both of them went away at the same time. My theory is that, somewhere along the lines (sometime after Al's made the deal maybe) both he and Lilith partner to maybe stop Eve/Roo or Eve/Roo made Al and Lilith confront in a way that made Lilith having to seek shelter in Heaven, and Alastor to go away. But I feel it was Lilith who might have asked Alastor to watch/help Charlie, and he might have agreed because it is convenient as well… and maybe because it was also Eve/Roo's order…

IDK maybe he is a double spy, and despite all this, he is trying to seek the perfect opportunity which is going to give him the chance to "move all the strings". I also headcanon that both might have a level of respect for one another but that is just a crazy thought of mine because they haven't even interacted so… idk

ALRIGHT IM HERE! I know this has been sitting in my inbox for the past week, but I'm here now and ready to get into it!

I've never considered the possibility that Eve and Roo are the same, but hmmm, thinking about it, I'm not so sure. In the opening of the show, it's said that evil already exists.

Angels shielded all from Evil. So, Roo (the literal Root of all Evil) will have existed long before Eve was even created. If she were using Eve as a host, however... ◉_◉ As being the first one to let evil into the world being the gateway (for a lack of better word) and Roo taking advantage of that...

It was Adam and Eve eating the apple that allowed evil to find it's way to Earth.

Like, the phrasing here says it all. "For with this single act of disobedience, evil FINALLY found its way into Earth."

So not only has evil existed for a long time, it's implied that it's been trying to find a way to get to Earth. (Also, the Roo theory brain is taking over, this whole scene, with these black tendrils growing, turning into a hand, and curling around Earth, do those not resemble roots to anyone? I'd gif it if I knew how, but it literally looks like roots growing up and wrapping themselves around humanity. ROOT OF ALL EVIL, come on, the symbolism is there.)

And with Alastor, I truly think he cares more than he wants. I think he cares more than he expected to. I know there's a lot of people who just do NOT think he does, and that he's going to be the big bad (or at least an antagonist), and while I don't disagree about the antagonist part (I can see him being an obstacle to get in their way), I just think there's going to be more to his character arc. I don't think he's just going to manipulate the hotel, betray everyone, and get all the power he's ever wanted and that's IT.

For one, as any writer knows, stories need conflict. Characters need conflict. One could argue that Alastor's deal is his conflict, but I think his true conflict is going to be getting attached to Charlie and co. and not wanting to. i think he's going to fight it tooth and nail, but I think, in the end, he's going to be their ally (or as much of an ally as he can be considering someone--most likely the actual antagonist of the show--has his soul).

And I agree with you about his relationship with Charlie. We can already see that he's a good at manipulating. The "Dad Beat Dad" episode gave us numerous examples of him using his relationship with Charlie (saying things like "We're all very proud of her," and that he's "happy to fulfill her bizarre requests") to get under Lucifer's skin, while Charlie is shown to whole-heartedly believe him. He IS a manipulator and he knows how to pin-point that insecurity to get what he wants.)

However, there's also examples in the show where he was kind and considerate to Charlie when he literally didn't need to be. There was no reason or benefit to him for doing so.

One example would be him going with her to assist in getting the cannibals help. He didn't need to do this. He got what he wanted. He officially has a deal with Charlie. He gave her the information she needs in exchange for a favor, there's no reason to linger. But he does, and not only does he freely suggest Cannibal Town, but he's going WITH her to recruit their help.

When Charlie is talking to Rosie to get said help, she's frantic and stumbling over herself, and Alastor pipes in to help her. Later, when Charlie is singing her song to convince the cannibals, he pipes in again (when it's obvious they're not entirely on board) to include that they'll get to eat angels, which is the tipping point that gets the town interested. And another time during that same song when he said "he knew she could do it all along." Charlie wasn't there, so who was he supposed to be manipulating in that scenario?

Rosie? As if Rosie doesn't already know Alastor's whole schtick, she was literally telling him about souls he could go make deals with earlier in the episode. Demons who are in a territory that they can't properly defend, which would make them desperate. Easy pickings to manipulate a few into giving up their souls.

He had faith in Charlie getting the cannibals to join and even helped her along every step of the way.

And that's not even mentioning the fact that he has literally let her use his cane twice. His cane, which Vivzepop has said is like an extension of himself. We haven't seen him let anyone else in the series touch his cane. Hell, he didn't even need to offer his cane in the first place, the microphone she was using earlier was still right there.

One could argue he was trying to get the cannibals to help so they could defend the hotel and have a better chance at, you know, NOT dying. But there's multiple times when he does things he didn't have to do, because there was literally no benefit of it to him. But he did.

Because I think he's more attached than he wants to believe.

Where was I...I went on an Alastor tangent.

But yes! The way I see it right now, I can see Roo going after Lillith because Lillith empowered demonkind.

Lucifer may the the ultimate ruler of Hell, but it's obvious that he didn't really...interact much with the rest of Hell. At least from what we've seen. He was ashamed of what he did and lost his will to dream.

He fell into depression. I think when he and Lillith had Charlie, it really did make him happy. I think it brought him out of his depression for a bit, but depression doesn't just...go away. At least not for everyone. And we do see that something had to happen between him and Lillith to result in them splitting up, AND something had to happen to him and Charlie to result in them not seeing each other for long periods of time, to the point of Charlie not even wanting to call him for help when she could really use it.

Guys been in depression for a while, and I can't see him getting involved with Hell, which he's ashamed of creating at all. I can see him being more than happy to step aside for Lillith to handle it herself. I don't think Roo would see him as much of a threat so long as he's not getting involved.

Because as the show says:

She literally EMPOWERED demonkind. Hell grew and evolved, and it became so much more. It became powerful enough for Heaven to not only take notice, but to get worried.

Lillith has MUCH more of an impact in Hell. She has more reach and authority, and I can see Roo being intimidated and/or threatened by that. There's a lot Roo (the Root of All Evil) can do in Hell, where the sinners and wicked go--those who commit evil acts. This should be her PLAYGROUD. But it's Lillith who has authority here.

So maybe Roo needed to get her out of the way? And how much farther can she get Lillith from Hell then having her go to Heaven?

I definitely think there's a connection between Alastor and Lillith. Maybe Lillith did enlist Alastor for his help. Maybe Roo already got Alastor's soul and he helped her, in some way, get Lillith to go to Heaven. I don't know what the connection is, but I'm so eager to find out.

(Also, can we all talk about how Lillith empowered demonkind with her voice, her songs, and Charlie is out here singing every time she wants to help Hell--when she first got the meeting with Adam, when she's trying to convince Adam of her plan, her song with Pentious, etc... And when Rosie asks how she typically tries to get people interested in her hotel, she does so by singing. All of her songs are about love, redemption, being better, working together, almost as if she's trying to empower demonkind with her voice too.)

I think we should talk more about not only what Charlie gets from Lucifer, but what she gets from Lillith as well.

But YES, I'm just so eager to see the whole deal with Alastor and Lillith, and I REALLY think Roo is going to come into play here somewhere. I really do. If not now, then later.

Personally, I still think Roo has Alastor's soul, but who knows? Maybe Lillith DOES have Alastor's soul, but Roo blackmailed/threatened Lillith into going to Heaven, so Lillith ordered Alastor to keep an eye on Charlie for her? Who knows? No one.

Who wants to know? ME!

Hi! I followed your clothing overlay tutorial step by step as far as I know, but the overlay files won't show up in CAS. I tried googling for solutions, but unfortunately got nada. Would you happen to have any suggestions what the issue might be? I'm recoloring a fullbody outfit from HSY and was trying to add the shirt colours as an accessory overlay. Thanks a lot! ☺️

hmmm im sorry im a little out of practice with recolours so i don't remember all the tricks! have you checked your tags to make sure it's not flagged for the wrong age group/gender etc? and check what category it's in to make sure you're looking in the right place! (rings, bracelets etc)

if i remember right sometimes i'd made an overlay and no matter what i'd do it just wouldn't show up and i'd just have to remake it again from scratch and honestly i have no idea why lol so you might just need to do that

The "stop kinning" thing might've been poor wording because yeah, most people can't simply not kin anymore, but you can absolutely stop engaging with the source, stop supporting it, not list your kintypes publicly.. I kin from Hetalia too and I simply don't talk about it publicly. I actually started keeping a diary where I write about my problematic sources and kins when I get the urge to talk about it. The Gladiator and The Luminant are two wild slugs who travel everywhere with eachother and are like cute little bonded cats., (please go look up bonded cats they're SO CUTE I SOB EVERY TIME I SEE BONDED CATS) and Gladiator really really hates lizards because they could hurt Luminant (and they have already hurt Gladiator before) and also because they need to eat alot to hibernate, so lizards are the best food source since they're quite abundant in the area.

Despite Gladiator's rather violent tendencies toward lizards, they respect scavengers, paying for tolls and helping them fend off attackers.

These two don't stay in a single spot for very long, being quite the pair of nomads. The longest they've stayed in a place was nearby Clawing Against the Tides's can.

Clawing Against the Tides never held much of positive feelings for the ancients atop his can, especially after the mass ascension. Her disdain for them grew into anger, feeling betrayed that they could ascend while leaving her to waste away, prohibited from achieving his own ascension by taboos. What most upset him was how quiet it was, the only task left for him to do was finding a triple affirmative, nothing else left by the Ancients who wouldn't even see the work of Tides and her fellow iterators.

Time had past, Clawing Against the Tides had stopped working on the Great Problem cycles ago. He sat alone in his chamber, reviewing messages of other iterators in the local group, when suddenly he became aware of another presence in the chamber. A small slugcat, yellow markings and tail glowing faintly.

And sure it wasn't much of two-sided conversation material, even after receiving a mark of communication, it listened, when not messing with the pearls in his chamber, or flailing about in his anti-gravity. And Tides found herself to envy the small creature. It could come and go as it pleased, do whatever it wanted to, and judging it's appearance, it lived quite well out beyond his can.

She began to modify her puppet, allowing for it to detach from her can, and taking inspiration from her slugcat acquaintance in retractable claws for climbing. (Of which the little thing did quite alot of)

It took quite a few cycles- more than Tides would ever admit- to build up the courage to leave his chamber. But eventually, she followed her small slugcat friend out of her chamber, then out of her can entirely.

The outside world was almost overwhelming. He'd seen it through his overseers, but this was different, feeling the humidity of the air for the first time.

From there, the small slugcat she'd been calling The Luminant had brought her to a shelter and introduced her to another slugcat, The Gladiator.

...and then they go back to living as regular, except plus an iterator tagging along on their misadventures. Sorry im out of detail juice my tanks running empty its 11 pm and I'm tired and gotta be up for school tomorrow

Hello there! Getting Started™️in tumblr rp has two parts, I think. making the actual blog, and networking (while Doing Things.)

Your blog itself probably needs a rules page, this can be anything you want to say or express- some people's rules are specific, some are just a few sentences. Establishing some boundaries or guidelines can be pretty important! But! it's entirely up to you, it gives a first impression to others on you as the writer. People mostly hesitate or have anxiety about accidentally upsetting others, so having something there helps! Even if it's just saying you're pretty chill.

Something else helpful is a muse page- people want to know what kind of character that you are writing! For some they will link to a wiki page, and for some they write out a whole bio for their headcanons- For example if you looked in my Volo's bio, you'd see that he's 32, cisgender, albino, and can see through fog. all headcanon stuff that might not appear in every reply i do! For OCs especially there can be a history section detailing their life and who they are!

The other major half is networking. Following RP blogs, making a promo (which you can make visible in tags;; blahblahfandom rp, multifandom rp, crossover rp, etc.) when you find a blog you are interested in, you can reach out! through ims or asks as well. (If your blog is curated enough and has its own dash/account, your sidebar may of course recommend rp blogs! that's about the only algorithm involved. the rest's work. sideblogs notoriously have trouble because they can't Follow people.) Like, I figure a lot of personal blogs find my posts/blog through tumblr's search function- which i'm still not used to because it's the new default, rather than going into the Actual #tag.

a subset of networking is Doing Stuff. Making headcanon posts, in character posts, open starters, and threading with other people will show off your writing enough for people to notice. Some people turn their nose away if a blog 'only' contains 'too much' RP memes, vent posts, or just doesn't have what they're looking for. While it's not a requirement, it may be helpful to make sure you have examples up to see. This part kind of really never ends imo, networking and doing stuff, but it's pretty essential to getting noticed. But like any facet of the internet or world, there's always someone who wants to talk to you! And would love to hear what you have to say! I'm sure that's something that even seasoned rpers might need to hear, everyone gets discouraged sometimes. It only takes a few people getting going to boost you along tho, so! Try to appreciate people! Y'know, socializing and all that, haha.

As far as some etiquette goes, try not carelessly spam-like or reblog. Since the person is writing a story thread, they use their activity to keep track. 'hmmm i wonder if someone replied today?' i ask! i look in my notes! somebody liked this somebody liked this somebody liked this somebody liked this

oh no! where is my post? it can be a little frustrating, so try to keep likes to real time or so, it's much more manageable. People do enjoy likes and feedback, but the first major reason that people block personals is to avoid this kind of thing. In my opinion, it probably doesn't help that it's a wordless interaction, but it depends! If you're not overdoing it, it's delightful, too!

Replies are much more free game imo, it's words as feedback and a bit more enjoyable. (I'll admit a reply on a pinned post is...a first for but hey! this works!)

Asks are enjoyed and adored. Literally as long as it isn't hate, any tumblr user likes getting asks, but RPers are ravenous, lmao. Some may get overwhelmed by their own workload and have to delete em, but socially speaking people love talking about their muses! Or how they as a mun write!

The second reason people block personals is discourse. I'd say the biggest cultural difference, if you are stepping into rp, is to please learn to share. Especially with the onset of Search showing things even mentioning character names. (some people even cen.sor their muse's name to avoid this.) You've probably seen mockey of kin discourse 'no doubles' and etc. Basically, don't be an ass about headcanons and try to respect people's portrayals. RPers would rather write, so many will not deal with the bullshit and their blog is not for arguing. Trust me that when anons or whoever interject in order to be a dick, you become the butt of the joke for that blog's whole audience. Many people love to write threads with duplicates! But even those whose rules say no duplicates as far as interactions go know that it's not nice to insult people and stay in their lane. Be Kind! Ask questions! If you'd like to share a headcanon of your own, the blog owner might like to see it, just don't be pushy and you're good! They might even have their own headcanon even if they disagree with yours and may share that! Everyone's writing is unique and that's the beauty of it! I've personally even had some random personal reply trying to shut down my headcanon/simping in a belittling way, which....i didn't fucking ask. let me have my fun!!! Sooo yea read the room! Have fun!

but that particular thing of people just like assigning you a specific ideology and making assumptions about your beliefs based on that assignment that THEY made is so... why do we do that, and im clearly also guilty of it on some level considering i saw proship in that one persons bio and went oh that means they enjoy fiction that promotes harmful ideas (there is nuance to what proship can mean but generally i dont trust it bc i associate it with incest and pedophilia which i dont think are concepts one should be even exploring on a public space like the internet but im not against dark topics in fiction, explorative or otherwise)

like you wanna talk about food and animals with me, you assume im either a vegan or not a vegan, technically im not a vegan. technically im a weirdo whos very into the demystification of death in general (i could also go on about our obsession with corpse preservation/decay avoidance and how i think its bad and wrong) im a zoologist, i like hunting and fishing but not for sport, i dont eat beef as a choice (for multiple reasons i dont care to explain right now but none of them involve my feelings about the cow itself)

I haven’t written anything new, though I’m deep into an outline for an 8th year canon divergence fic that begins at the wedding where Premal’s friend Sam got into it with one of the Grimm cousins. Spoiler alert: Simon and Baz were there in my version.

Instead I thought I might offer a few deleted/alternate versions of scenes from What’s Left (which is finally done, I posted the epilogue on Sunday). Under the cut, because it’s very long!

From Chapter 8 in the Mage’s storage locker. I had this bit in Sid’s POV before I decided that Sid was actually going to be the competent one in that scene instructing Baz on how to search the place without causing the cursed furniture to attack them:

“I’ll just sit here,” I say, lowering myself into a comfortable looking wingback chair, just as Baz screams “Nooooooo!” from his corner of the cramped space. I feel myself sinking into it. It’s deeper and softer than I expected and I close my eyes, lulled by a deep sense of comfort until I feel myself being yanked forcibly to my feet, a jolt of pain running through my shoulder.

“Damn Baz, what the fuck?” I cry. 

“I should be asking you that? I told you not to touch anything, and next thing I see you getting yourself eaten by a cursed armchair!”

“I mean, I didn’t touch it, I sat in it.”

“That’s touching it, Sid. With your arse. Your arse counts.”

Something about Baz talking about my arse makes me blush, though I don’t exactly know why.

“I probably should have left you in there,” he goes on. “To keep you out of the way while I search this place.”

He casts Be Our Guest on the wingback. “This should stop it from attacking you again.”

“Beauty and the Beast,” I mouth at him.

He rolls his eyes.

From Chapter 8 on the car ride to Essex, I had this whole long sequence in Baz’s POV of them talking about what happened with Phillipa and the tape recorder in fifth year. But, I had already covered this ground earlier in the chapter to some extent, so I dropped it.

What made it in to the chapter was only the first line of this snippet:

“Why don’t you tell me about something terrible I did to you last night in your dreams?” I venture, trying to move the conversation into more familiar territory. 

I regret it immediately.

“Well, I did dream about the day you stole Phillipa’s voice…” he says. I wince.

“Right. Of course”

“That was pretty stupid, Baz. Simon was able to do magic without his voice anyway, you saw him do it all the time. Seems pointless.”

“Fiona,” is my only response to that.

“But Baz, why did you do it?”

“I just told you. Fiona.”

“No, I mean, why did you do it?” He pauses, considering, before quietly continuing. “You loved him by then, didn’t you?”

If they could get any paler, my knuckles would be white, I grip the steering wheel so hard. “So talking about my diary is back to being fair game again, is it?”

“Sorry. It’s - I think it might help me understand the things I see and feel in the dreams if you could explain.”

“No, it’s okay. I just…” How do I even explain this? “I hated the sight of him. I hated what he did to me.”

“Hmmm,” Sid hums. “It didn’t always look like you hated him. He watched you, Baz, all the time. He liked looking at you -” 

“I know.”

“- and there are… these moments I remember where you clearly don’t hate him.”

“Yes, well. You know. I was… conflicted. Tortured, some might say.”

“I think you said that, actually. In your journal.” 

I glance over and see that he’s looked up from his lap, and is gazing at me with intense curiosity. He looks quickly down again, blushing. I can’t help but think he looks lovely, though I immediately chastise myself for even letting myself know it. It doesn’t help to know it.

“Anyway,” he finally says. “The whole reason I brought it up was to tell you that Simon saw it. I think he decided not to know it, probably because you had already soundly rejected him, but he saw it, for what it’s worth.” He keeps going, like he can’t stop himself. “I mean, I’m not saying I really know what he felt, there are so many new… feelings in those dreams, like, even just hormonal stuff I guess, that comes with being a teenager, and it’s all so intense, and I’m still trying to make sense of it myself, and…” he trails off and stares out the window.

Now I can feel my cheeks trying to colour. Only the fact that I haven’t fed since last night is saving me from it. This is horribly awkward for too many reasons to count.

Just a dream, Basil. Just an illusion. Try not to - No. Scratch that. Do. Not. Think about it.

And, from Chapter 12, I rewrote the way Baz admits to Sid that he loves him MANY MANY times before settling on the version that appears in the story where it happens at the, ahem, climax of the chapter. Here is a different version of that, picking up in a Sid POV right after this line that WAS in the chapter (where he has admitted that he aged himself up in part to gain Simon’s memories of him and Baz getting together on Christmas Eve):

“I just want you to understand,” I continue in a low voice. “Can’t you see? How we’re the same? You were ready to die, that night in the forest, and not to save anyone either. Just because you were sad. Because it was all hopeless, and you thought Simon could never love you.”

But instead of leading right into the love scene, when Baz kisses him, there was a bit more drama. I dropped all of this because it slowed things down and I couldn’t figure out a good way to get them back to making out from here:    

“No Sid,” he says and his voice is little more than a whisper. His lips are so close to mine, too close, I can feel them moving against my cheek. “I do understand. I do. You are the one who doesn’t understand.”

And then he forces his lips violently against mine. Without thinking about it, I open my mouth to let him in. This kiss is nothing like the one we shared earlier. All teeth and tongue. 

He lets go of my shoulders and puts both of his hands on my face, and he kisses me so hard my chin hurts. He presses his entire body against mine. And for a minute, I let him. I rub his stomach the way I know he likes now, I slide my fingers under the hem of his shirt.

I let myself take what I want, and I give it all back to him tenfold. Everything I feel for him, everything Simon felt for him, how angry I am at the Mage for what he’s done, how angry I am at the world for how everything’s turned out. How angry I am that I’m going to die and nobody but Baz and Penny will ever really know I existed.

But I know what he’s doing. And this time when I come up for air, it’s me that pushes him away. He lets me, and takes a step back. His eyes are wild, his hair is a mess from the way I was fisting my hand in it.

“What are you - ” he sputters, lips still slightly pink from where I was sucking on them. “I thought you said - ”

“Come off it, Baz!” I realise I’m screaming in his face. There are tears running down my cheeks. 

He looks stricken, like I’ve just slapped him, and takes another step backward until his back hits the opposite wall and he slides down it.

“You don’t have to do this!”

BAZ

Sid is still standing across the room from me. He’s flushed, either from anger or from our kiss, or maybe from anger about our kiss, and his face is streaked with tears. He’s accusing me of something, but I don’t know what. I’m angry too, so angry at him, but I thought maybe kissing him might help fix things. Might help him understand so that we can move on to figuring out a way out of this. A way to move forward.

“Do what? Kiss you? I wanted to! I thought you would want me to. You just said - ”

“Pretend!” he shouts at me. “I don’t want your pity,” he finishes quietly.

“What the fuck are you talking about?” 

“You don’t need to pretend you want me, Baz, just to convince me to let you help. I will. If we get out of this cell in time, I’ll let you spell me back into my eleven-year-old body and you and Penny can try and figure out how to get me out of this. I promise. I’ll do it for you, because I don’t want you to hurt. You don’t have to pretend to feel something you don’t.”

He takes a seat on the floor, mirroring my pose against the opposite wall, one leg out in front, one knee up with his arm around it.

“But I told you, Sid. I told you how I found you.” “How you - ” He looks up at me sharply. “You mean the finding spell? For someone you love? You were looking for me? You love me?”

Alright let's try this Soulmate body switch AU I'm also attempting this whole "make a tag" thing... bare with me, ive only actually used this app for like 4 days now im gonna go with "RayMakesSoulmates" for now... uhm, idk what else to go with uhhhhh yeah, names Ray btw...

Okay here we go. The idea of switching bodies is something a bit strange to me so let me make this work for me.

Basically it happens once a year after you either turn 17 or meet your soulmate. If its the latter then there has to be alot of turmoil and confusion on one side to trigger the first switch because it does not happen at the first encounter. However after the first encounter you'll sometimes have little blurry dreams that are in fact core memories of your soulmate. But theyre always too blurry to point out who's involved and sounds are too muffled to pin point any specific noises words or what have you.

Now, the dreams don't happen every night but they happen often enough that you are made aware that you have met your soulmate at some point recently.

So after Zuko visits the south and they begin their cat and mouse game around the world Zuko often has blurry dreams of white with black falling what he thinks is people screaming and what he knows is muffled crying. While Sokka has random dreams of what he thinks is someone moving away into the darkness and someone screaming out to them but he can't figure out what they're saying. Another dream he has is a blurry glow of bright blue and crying. There's also one that shows up more often than the other two, its when he sees what he believes is someone moving towards him saying something, but its muffled, then a bright light and muffled screaming and crying.

However after Ba Sing Se Sokka has a dream that's clear and vivid, not muffled and not blurry. After he takes a moment from shooting up to a sitting position he realizes that this is not a dream, he's switched bodies. Standing up and moving the blankets off of him he looks around and sees the there are fire nation items everywhere, it looks like he's in a royal bedroom. He elects to keep calm as he moves towards where he thinks is a bathroom, he is correct and when he looks into the mirror he freezes. His heart drops into his stomach. Sokka can hardly believe what he's looking at. Staring back at him is not his face, but Zuko's. He reaches up to touch the scar on Zuko's face. While yes he has control over his body and he doesn't exactly know how to act 'firenation' let alone 'fire nation royalty' he stands straight. "This won't last longer than 3 hours." He reminds himself

"What won't last longer than three hours?" Azula's voice breaks through

Instantly on edge and irritated Sokka- ahem Zuko turns to Azula "what do you want Azula?" He says in a voice thats much less irritated, theyre siblings right? So they have to be chummy right

"Oo! You sound so much less angry!" She muses "disgusting, anyways, Mai wanted me to let you know she's leaving today"

Why would he care about that? Oh they must be friends? Maybe they're dating? Okay, don't screw this up "uh, okay"

"Aw don't be so sad Zuzu~ you two would have never worked out anyways, her and Ty Lee switched bodies just three days ago. It was honestly was kind of amusing watching her string you along" This is not how siblings normally talk to eachother. He just glared at Azula "alright alright sheesh, ill leave you alone" he found something to write on and quickly jotted down the conversation because if he was given that information Zuko would need it.

Meanwhile Zuko shot awake and found himself lying next to appa Katara and Aang, so he is alive huh? Confused he figured he must be dreaming until he realized his vision was clear and nothing was muffled. He was below deck on a fire nation ship. He paused a moment before he stood and noticed Sokka's boomerang beside him. He lifed it and saw Sokka in the reflection. His reaction seemed to mirror(haha get it) Sokka's when he saw Zuko in the mirror. But he dropped the boomerang and it made a loud bang which woke the other two up "Sokka what are you doing, the sun is barely up"

He paused and cleared his throat. Okay, sure he's been chasing them he needs to not blow this "uh, sorry, nightmare"

Katara shifted and turned to him, a genuine look of worry in her eyes "do you want to talk about it?" She asked in a tone that reminded him of his mother. Genuine love.

He forced himself not to tear up at the memory and just shook his head "no, I honestly can't remember it. Just scared me is all" the hesitation in Katara's expression before she responded was strange to him

"Alright, if you say so, do you mind going and asking dad to change the course? We need to stop and get supplies"

His hesitation and expression probably made her realize what happened "okay, youre not Sokka right now are you?" He froze and nodded slowly "alright, you dont have to tell me who you are, but I'll help you through the motions, Aang and I switched back in Ba Sing Se, that was the day when you questioned why I said I'd fly around, er- or that was when Sokka questioned me" okay she was a little more accepting of this than he thought.

"Uhm, okay, yeah, right, uhm, I don't want to blow this so can you just uh show me around? I'm sure Sokka knows all the people he's- oh agni he's gonna meet my dad" zuko internally cringed.

In that moment it seemed to click with Katara "alright, so you're telling me your Zuko"

Zuko flinched and backed up against the wall "look I dont know what you want me to do about this, but I promise you that I'm not going to ruin anything, I know I messed up, hell Sokka's probably noticing that my family doesn't work like yours does. I've been so confused my whole life okay, I'm sorry I betrayed you in Ba Sing Se, my sister has a way of manipulating me. I just hope he doesn't get hurt, he probably doesn't know he needs to keep his mouth shut in my family." Zuko was panicking when Katara reached out

"Zuko, zuko what do you mean?" Her voice shaky

"Look I cant tell you everything, I cant tell you my life story not right now, I need to get through with this. If we meet again, which I hope we do, ill tell you then. But right now, please just show me what Sokka goes through day to day. I know he's not gonna like what happens on the other end, I just hope it doesn't go too bad."

Katara nodded "alright well. Let me walk you around and let you learn the peoples names, ill just say hi to them and say their names." She paused "but first, tell me about your mother, i dont know if I believe it anymore"

He sighed before telling her the entire story.

Meanwhile at the palace Sokka was sitting in a war meeting knowing to keep his mouth shut unless spoken to. He didnt want to set people off or let them know he wasn't actually Zuko. The topic of the earth kingdome came up and Ozai turned to him "Zuko, you've spent time among the Earth kingdom citizens. What information do you have?"

"Uh, the Earth kingdoms citizens are strong willed and hopeful, as long as they have hope they will not yeild"

"Hmmm, I see, we need to crush their hope"

"Well, thats not what I-"

"I think we should take their precious hope and burn it to the ground!" Azula cuts in

"Yes, yes good idea Azula" Oh no

About an hour after the meeting the switch flipped, Sokka made notes about everything that he found important in time before the switch was over.

After they switched back Sokka found his sister and grabbed her shoulders "Katara, I have to tell you something, I just got back from a body swit-"

"And your soulmate is Zuko? I know, he cried when I was nice to him, what happened on your end?"

"Well, his whole family is mean to him"

"Figured"

"I was in a war meeting and found out their plan for the comet"

After relaying the information he found they discussed it with Aang.

Let's skip ahead to after the failed invasion and to the air temple when Zuko shows up.

"Hello, Zuko here"

No fighting it in this one

"Get your jerk bender butt over here" Katara and Sokka said practically in unison.
