Theropods and Hollow Bones

I saw a post going around a couple weeks ago talking about birds and their hollow bones, and wanted to jump onto that train too. Theropod dinosaurs (birds included) are defined by this trait. It often indicates an active lifestyle. The outer bone is often dense (and grows almost like tree-rings, as seen in the Tyrannosaurus rex pubis in the third image), with the inner area being hollow. This allowed them to have sturdy bones without becoming over-weighted.

The fossils above are all from the end Cretaceous - specifically the Hell Creek Formation. The first two belong to dromaeosaurids, and the third Tyrannosaurus rex.

I have been reading your caitjinx fics and saw your invitation to go scream at you on your tumblr. So here I am lol!

I just want to say that your writing is seriously the most evocative and beautiful writing I have ever had the pleasure of reading. It's so easy to picture everything that is happening and what the characters are feeling because the way you write Cait and Jinx is just spot on.

And yes, it's a crackship, but I really love it and everything it has to offer, from the bitter hatred, the mutual silent pining, and the pain/comfort these two must feel when they interact with each other. This ship just lends itself to all these things, and you have ticked all of them off in your stories.

All this to say that you and your writing are a gift to this world. Seriously, your stories are on another level, and I can't express it plainly enough just how much I enjoy reading them. Thank you so, so much for sharing your work. And thank you for writing about caitjinx because that ship is just sofygsoufd SO GOOD. I wish it got more attention! XD

qForever: Honestly, with all of the hard labor Forever does for his big builds, Phil was expecting him to do better, but the first (several) attempts end up with Forever stumbling over and knocking Phil off of him from his wild arm-pinwheeling. They eventually figure out it’s more doable if Forever himself has something to lean on (a wall, a chair, the butt of his pickaxe) and Phil puts one talon evenly spaced on each shoulder. Phil learns some new swears in Portuguese in the process.

qMissa: Flattened. Full-on face in the floor, mouth full of grass, wind knocked out of his lungs at Mach 5 the first time Phil tries. Phil apologizes profusely, but Missa—once he can breathe again—just rolls over onto his back and asks Phil if they can give it another try. It takes a long, LONG time, but they figure out that if Phil plants his talons on Missa’s shoulder pads and leans forward while Missa leans back, they have a small little window of time where they achieve balance. The best part? Phil gets a perfect view of Missa’s goofy little grin every single time.

She has some great Danny and Constantine stuff planned. I'll prob start in... May lol.

Danny sucked in a breath through his teeth as the world stabilized around him into white walls and gleaming metal. The sound echoed again. A mechanical voice announced something.

A portal.

He had just been shoved through a portal.

“Kid?”

He could still feel the hum of of it running along his skin like echoes of electricity.

“Nightingale?”

A hand landed on his shoulder and Danny spun with a growl. Constantine took a step back, hands raised, palms out.

The sound again.

Batman 02, the voice said.

The shadow of a man stepped out of the contraption as Danny sucked in another ragged breath. He glanced around them at the collection of heroes. He was in the Justice League.

“We had a deal, John,” Danny hissed as he rounded on Constantine again. He stabbed his pointing finger at the other. (He was surprised his hand didn’t shake.)

“Excuse me—”

“Fuck off, Superguy,” Danny snarled, not looking away from John. Holy shit that was Superman.

“Nightingale,” Batman started.

“There was one rule, Constantine!”
