Im sick, so here's the tea I drink to get better cause meds make me sick longer for some reason.

Any tea of your choosing (I use English tea)

Milk (low, full, skimmed. Doesn't matter)

Honey, NOT sugar.

The amount of honey depends on how sweet you want your tea. If you don't like it sweet, just a teaspoon will do. Milk affects the strength of the tea (mild, strong, weak), same with the amount of water you use.

It's not rocket science, and why should it be when you're sick.🤷🏽‍♀️

Xavier is an absolute warrior when he is sick. He is rarely sick due to his thriving immune system (he probably eats dirt :/) and constant well rested body (always sleeping). Even though he doesn’t necessarily take good care of himself, he also has to keep up good health due to his demanding job. He can’t be fighting sick now, can he? However, when he does get sick, it is rather severe. He will ask you to come over and take care of him. You’re worried sick because he isn’t ever sick, let alone this terribly. You watch him sleep for a long time, feed him, and make sure he’s doing ok. He will ask you to stay with him until he gets better (you can’t say no). 

Zayne is more than capable of taking care of himself when he’s sick. He knows very well how to take care of his physical health and wellbeing, and knows the exact remedy to alleviate any form of sickness that comes to him. Shockingly, he is often sick, even though it is mild. Due to his extremely high stress levels and his evol being evil, he is usually fighting off mild colds or stress headaches. He’s good at hiding them especially because they happen often, and won’t really ask you to do anything for him. May ask you to come hang out though (yet you’ll make him soup and make sure he takes his meds). It’s nice to have time to talk to him while he’s sick too. 

Rafayel is so dramatic when he’s sick. He gets sick as much and as moderately as any other person, however he acts like he’s dying every single time. You will randomly get a call, begging you to come over to take care of his poor self. Of course, you do come over, to find him sprawled on the floor complaining about how miserable he is. You just gave yourself the responsibility of taking care of this man-child until he gets better, because there is no way he’s letting you leave until he is better. You make sure he’s treated like the princess he’s asking to be treated like: tucked in, read a story, kissed goodnight, cuddled (yup, you’re going to be sick tomorrow too), woken up to be fed porridge, given water, talked to, etc etc. He is absolutely pampered by you, and although you seem annoyed, you secretly adore him for it. 

Sylus gives up his usual cocky personality when he’s sick. You find him silently resting in bed, no comments to be heard. It’s very weird to not hear any snarky remarks, but rather his congestion with every breath he takes and the occasional coughing. You find Luke and Kieran already attending to him, and wonder why you’re even there in the first place. Clearly, he doesn’t need your care. However, before you leave, you see him open his eyes and beckon you over. He doesn’t need your care, but he definitely needs your presence. He pulls you into bed with him, holding you especially close. You listen to his labored breathing as he helplessly holds onto you. It was weird to see such a powerful man be so pathetic. You spend the night soothing the poor guy to sleep. You’re definitely going to make fun of him for how needy he is while sick later. 

Caleb always hides when he is sick. Even though he would go out of his way every time to help you recover from any ailment, he would never ask you to do the same. He doesn’t want to burden you with something so trivial, so he tries to fight off flu season all by himself. Unfortunately for him, you’ve known him long enough to know that he’s not really “too tired to hang out right now.” So, you come marching into his home with bags filled to the brim with anything he might need: flu medicine, pain relievers, a cloth (that you’ll wet for his fever), water, tea, juice, porridge, soup, everything. He’s shocked to see you, but boy is he glad. You scold him for being so stubborn, and remind him that you’d always be happy to care for him. You spend time taking care of him, and he’s basking in your amazing presence. Maybe he should be sick more often…

You grab a sip of your water for what feels like the 1000th time tonight.

Somehow, throughout the day, you had picked up a cold. You knew there was some strain of flu spreading throughout your school, but man this one spread quicker than ever.

There’s no time for that though, especially not with midterms coming up right around the corner. So with heavy eyes and a sore throat that you swear is getting worse within a matter of seconds, you continue studying.

You didn’t live on campus. In fact, you lived in a small apartment with your boyfriend, Minho. It was close enough to both your university and his company, so it worked out perfectly. Not having to deal with pesky, disgusting roommates and getting to live with the love of your life instead was the dream.

The sound of keys ringing and the door cracking open was enough to pull you out of your thoughts. Your lover had just came home.

You smile gently as you hear his quiet footsteps grow ever closer to the door, heart bubbling with same excitement as it had when you first moved in. The feeling never went away, not even a little bit.

“Hi baby.” He says, walking in to your shared bedroom and sitting down on the bed behind you. “Still working this late?”

“Well yeah. Couldn’t sleep.” You reply. You wonder if your voice gave your illness away, because you can see his eye brows furrowing as you speak. “Are you sick y/n?”

“I just came down with it. My throat hurts, that’s all. I may not even be sick.” You try not to worry him, lying as you speak. If you’re being honest, your throat hurts like a bitch. But you know him well enough to know that if he knows how bad your feeling, he’ll focus all his energy on making you feel 110% and push off practically everything else.

He hums in response, eyes still searching yours before he’s moving to stand up. “Let me make you some tea then hmm? that should make you feel better.”

“Are you sure? It’s still super later Minho.” You respond, but you know it’s a loosing battle. He could be stubborn when he needed to be, and he is when it comes to you and your health.

“It’s fine. Besides, what kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn’t take care of you. Do you want chamomile?” He asked, not taking no for an answer. You smile as you feel yourself giving in, eyes feeling even more agonizingly heavy.

“Please” you groan out, and he’s leaving to the kitchen. You feel grateful for him as the day and pain catches up to you, finally deciding to close your textbooks and change for the night. Thankfully, you had already showered and brushed your teeth, so there was no worrying about that.

You grab the book you had been reading from your nightstand as you tuck your self into bed, silently waiting for the tea your boyfriend had prepared.

Even though you put up a slight fight about it, you can’t help but enjoy when he treats you like this. You love when he takes care of you, it makes you feel special and loved. It fills you with a special kind of warmth that can’t be described in words. Just pure love.

Just as the pain in your throat felt as if it was getting impossibly worse, your boyfriend came in with a steaming cup of hot chamomile tea, placing it down on the coaster next to you. “It’s really hot so be careful okay? I’m going to go shower now.” He dotes on you, placing a chaste kiss on your cheek.

“Ok, thank you so much baby. I’ll probably be sleep by the time you’re done.” And he hums in response, giving you one last kiss on the cheek before heading to the bathroom, clothes in hand.

The tea does a good job with soothing your throat, the sweet, honey taste dripping down your throat perfectly remedying the itchy, scratchy feeling.

You decide to finally get some shut eye as midnight comes around quicker than you thought, placing your book back on the nightstand and trying to get comfortable.

Key word : Trying

It’s hard, especially with the small cough that creeped its way into your throat all of a sudden. It’s keeping you up, the hacking noise disrupting the peace your body needed to finally fall asleep.

It takes longer than you wish it did, but eventually the tea is able to coax your body into sleep, eyes finally getting the rest they desperately needed.

Moments later, Minho joins you in the bedroom, clad in nothing but breezy pajama pants. Getting into bed with you and snuggling close, he knows you’re asleep, but he can’t help but begin to pepper small kisses upon face and hold you tighter.

“Get better, my love.” He drifts off, falling into sleep alongside you.

And you wish you could say you did.

You woke up smoldering hot but shivering at the same time. You look at your clock, groaning as the bright light amplified the small headache that had spread through your entire face. 10 am. You’re usually up by seven.

You silently say a quick “thank you prayer” that you don’t have classes on Wednesdays. Taking a day off of school during exam season is a whole death wish. But with how things are progressing, you’re not sure if you can even go tomorrow without getting 9-1-1 called.

You open your phone, groaning again as the light messes with your headache, but reading who the message is from still causes a weak smile to take form on your face.

You sigh as you place your phone down, mentally deciding to go take a shower. Surely that’ll fix the headache right?

Your head spins as you get out of bed, the world looking blurry and dizzy with specs of gray. It’s hard to walk.

“How the actual fuck did it get this bad so quickly?” You mumble to yourself, stumbling towards the bathroom and turning on the water.

The steam helps a little bit with the tension in your head and the congestion of your nose, but it’s not doing much. Atleast not as much as you need. Your throat was still burning for some relief, and the dizziness hasn’t stopped either. You’re thinking if it gets any worse, you’re probably going to have to go to the hospital.

The shower itself helps a little bit more with alleviating the pain, the warm water cascading down your skin and warming it up inside. But you can still feel it.

You can still feel the pounding of the headache you swear is forming into a migraine practically tearing your head apart, your throat is still screaming you for something warm, and to make matters worse, you think you’re developing nausea too.

Yup, definitely the flu

The flu never stopped anyone though, and midterms are still right around the corner. So with a dry cough and constant sneeze, you were popping advil, and taking a seat at your desk.

“A little sickness can’t me from doing this” you thought to yourself, but it was much harder than you thought.

Suddenly the sun had already set. The moonlight creeps its way inside through the slits in the blinds, but you hadn’t seemed to notice. You didn’t notice the way your eyes were blurred with unshed tears either. Your mind was absolutely buried in the thought of midterms.

I’m not prepared. Im going to fail. I’m a disappointment. I’m so useless, one fucking cough and I end up like this? I don’t even know why I try anym-

“Y/n!” Minho’s voice cuts through the mess swirling through your brain. You look over to where the voice came from and you swear you can see his face crumble the moment he looks at you.

To be fair, you hadn’t looked in the mirror since you took your shower in the morning, but Minho saw something different. He saw disheveled hair, droopy and tired eyes, beads of sweat drooping down your shivering body, and most importantly, tears.

“You told me you would call me if it got worse.” He bitterly spoke, and you felt that cut right through your heart. “I-It didn’t. I’m fine min-“ but he’s cutting you off immediately.

“You’re not fine y/n. You’re literally crying!” He booms, and you can’t help but feel extremely guilty. “Have you ate today? Or at least took medicine?!”

“Uhm, once at like n-nine. Look min I’m sorry! I’m so sorry for not calling you when I was supposed to. B-but my studying. If I stop, I’m not going to make it. I can’t fail min.”

His expression softens at your admission, eyebrows de-furrowing and eyes being replaced by compassion instead of anger and hurt as he walks closer towards you.

“Baby, you don’t need to push yourself so hard. I get it, I love that you want to study. But baby, is it really worth your life?”

Crack

“I know it means a lot, but so do you and your mental health. You can’t push yourself this hard and expect good results. You need to rest.”

Crack

“I love you so much. I can’t stand seeing you like this. Please let me take care of you okay? That’s all I want to do for you love.”

Shatter

You’re sobbing all of a sudden, burrowing your head in his sweatshirt as tears pour as of your eyes like faucets. It’s making your head hurt more, but you didn’t care. You just needed him.

He let you stay there for a while, he knew you needed it. He shushed the small sorries coming out of your mouth, telling you that you didn’t need to apologize. He only pulled you away when you calmed down completely.

“I’m going to get the thermometer. Stay here, my baby.” and he’s off to grab the thermometer you kept on hand from one of the cabinets in the bathroom, coming back with a concerned look on his face.

He quickly rubbed the thermometer along your forehead, reading out your temperature with a sharp ‘beep!’

“101 degrees.” He sighed. “Baby, if this gets any worse, you’re going to have to go to the hospital.”

Your breath hitches and tears spring to your eyes again, which Minho notices immediately.

“Hey, look at me.” He says, using his pointer finger to make you face him. “I’m not going to let that happen. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure you feel better okay?”

You nod along, resting your body back into his comforting arms as he massages your tense shoulders. He’s whispering small praises as he does this, and you swear you can feel your headache dissipating slowly.

While even though it’s going to be a while before you’re completely better, or even a little bit, you knew with him, it would all be okay.

As long as you have him taking care of you, comforting you, and loving you, you know you’ll be okay.

Are there any superstitions or things you do that you believe will make you get better faster? I mostly stop eating sugar (besides honey) and eat so many vegetables. Spinach, garlic, onions. Gimme all the nutrients.

Do you take vitamin C or any other herbal remedies or do you think that's all non-scientific nonsense? I take Vit C and def have those immunity juices and lots of honey and go full health store despite an argument I had with my Doctor cousin a few days ago about "science"

When you were young and got to stay home from school what was your favourite show to watch (or thing to do whatever)? The Price is Right RIP Bob Barker

Is there a secret favourite part you have to being sick? Cancelling plans to read fanfic 'cause I don't want to spread germs

as soon as he finds out your sick, he will forbid you from leaving your bed. he doesn't care what he needs to cancel, he'll take care of you until you're 100% better and then some. he already keeps basic cold and flu meds so he's very prepared for this.

every single day he'll cook you breakfast and bring it to you in bed. the only time he lets you up is when he has to wash the sheets and even then he carries you to the couch. as someone who's been worked to the bone, rest is something he values a lot and he wants to make sure you rest when you need to.

george really doesn't want to get sick but he can't help but hold you. if you tell him to leave you alone so he doesn't catch what you have, he'll tell you some adorable corny shit like love is the greatest cure. he is not as happy when he gets sick.

he definitely leans more into the natural rememdies but he still takes you to the doctor to make sure it's just a cold. he cuts you little orange slices and makes you lemon and ginger tea with honey. he makes you a home remedy that his mother taught him.

i feel like ringo also got you sick and while he tries to take care of you he gets sick again, so you're both terribly ill but love each other too much to spend the time apart to get better.

not being able to sing without wrecking his voice makes him sad because that's his favourite way to comfort you. so he puts on a record you both know the words to and lip syncs it to you, if you're not both completely exhausted he'll dance you around the living room to cheer you up.

– As seen in the manga, Tatsu has all the remedies for a cold on hand. He’ll ask you 30+ questions about each symptom you’re experiencing, and from there will decide which home remedies can help you feel better. If you live through the initial interrogation, I’m sure they’ll prove useful

– Tatsu definitely hides his fears by doing anything and everything possible to help you. He won’t sit still for even a moment, constantly making food or cleaning or checking on you; anything to avoid negative thoughts, like what if it isn’t just a cold, what if it’s something worse, what if it’s just a symptom of a far worse disease or illness?

– He absolutely cannot stand the thought of losing you, so Tatsu tends to be a bit dramatic when you’re sick. No moving, no eating or drinking whilst unsupervised, no medicines unless they’re okayed by him. You abide by these rules simply because you’re too tired to fight, and Tatsu knows a lot more about illnesses than you (or he’s just done more online research than you, lol)

– Beneath his intense, doctor-like attitude, Tatsu is actually very gentle with you. He’ll put on gloves and hold the tissue as you blow your nose, he’ll hold your water bottle to your lips and slowly tip it, he’ll put your blankets in the drier just to make them warm when you cuddle up in them

– “There ya are, little dragon…some nice, clean sheets for ya. And don’t even think about gettin’ up to get yer own tea–I’ll be back faster than you can say ‘limited time lettuce sale.’”

– none of the housework matters when his baby is sick. Unless dust or dirt is causing your issue, Tatsu will gladly get behind on his housework to take care of you, whether it’s getting you clean tissues, running out to get medicine or simply just sitting beside you, nervously watching over you and making sure you’re comfortable

– just imagining Tatsu giving you such a concerned, heartfelt look when you’re sick makes my heart ache ugh

– Although you’re achy and have a headache and just plain miserable from your cold, you perk up when Tatsu makes you homemade chicken soup. He smiles when he sees you enjoying his creation, sniffling as you thank him for the warm meal. Tatsu is always relieved when he can help eliminate your discomfort

– He won’t want to get too close when you have a cold, but if he has a mask handy he won’t mind hanging out with you for a while, silently wondering how you can possibly look so adorable even when your eyes are red and glossy, when your nose is runny and sticky…it only encourages him to do more for you, so Tatsu can see you thriving once more

– will distract you by telling you all the fun things he has planned for you two when you feel better; then Tatsu will turn on your favorite soap opera and watch with you (he watches it in secret, so he actually knows all the current plot lines, but still pretends to be shocked)

– Tatsu doesn’t mess around when you’re sick, and he’s the first to suggest you see a doctor when the cold doesn’t go away after a week; he’ll drag you there if need be, and writes down every single word the doctor says. He’ll even go so far as to mix your icky tasting medicine with something delicious–as long as it helps you feel better, Tatsu will go above and beyond

– You tried to throw up quietly, but Tora has the hearing of a paranoid tiger, so there was no hiding your illness from him, to his concern and rage

– “Yer sick?! Who was it, {Y/N}?! Tell me who got ya sick! I’ll let em have it! I’ll let em know what it’s really like to be sick!”

– Tora remembers what his mother used to do for him when he caught the flu as a child, falling back on those blurry memories now; he rolls your shivering body into his thickest quilt, fixes you  umeboshi plum tea, puts an ice pack on your forehead and uses his huge hands to gently rub your upset tummy

– You worry about missing work, and about Tora not opening the crepe truck so he can take care of you, worries immediately shut down by Torajiro, who doesn’t want you worrying about anything other than getting better. He assures you with absolute certainty that missing a few days, or even a week of work isn’t the end of the world. Tora is convincing enough that the thought thankfully exits your brain after a few tiresome hours of anxiety and guilt

– Endless vomit? Tora is right beside you, holding your hair back and comforting you in a low, soothing tone, hiding how upset he is at your discomfort. He really hates seeing you in misery, vowing to be there until you’re 100% better. Tora’s scrunched, worried expression is really cute, so that helps you forget your embarrassment for a moment

– Knowing you love classical music, he’ll put on one of your favorite classical records, hoping it lures you into a much-needed slumber. If it doesn’t, he’ll still lie beside you on the couch and hum along to the song to keep you company. Sometimes, you’ll feel his rough fingers stroke your hair away from your sweaty temples

– Tora has a strong immune system, so he isn’t afraid of catching anything from you, ignoring your warnings. He’ll kiss your head, pull your shivering form against him to get you warm, trap you inside his big arms for hours until you have to throw up again

–Tatsu may have the best chicken soup recipe, but Tora’s okayu (Japanese rice porridge) is a force to be reckoned with. He’ll insist he feed you himself, encouraging you to eat even though you’re not hungry. “Tigers gotta keep up their strength” and all. If you refuse, Tora will give you a big wide eyed look until you cave and eat a few big bites of porridge

– Through the terrible nights of restless sleep, aches and painful vomiting, Tora is always alert, jumping to your side even when he should be resting himself. You feel bad for waking him up frequently, but he assures you it’s no problem. He knows what it’s like to be alone and sick, and never wants you to feel scared in case things take a turn for the worse

– Tora doesn’t like doctors himself, but if you’re the one who’s sick, you better believe he’ll drag you to the clinic if you haven’t gotten better after a few days. He hates to admit that he wasn’t able to cure you with his home remedies, but Tora will always put aside his pride if your well being is involved

– “Whatever my tiger needs, get it! I don’t care about the cost! I’ll burn her insurance company to the ground if I have to!”

– He’s actually a great guy to have around when you’re ill because of his tenacity and loyalty to his loved ones, so you don’t ever have to worry about him dipping out or making you feel guilty for getting sick

– And Tora wasn’t kidding about finding whoever made you sick. If he finds out it’s one of your coworkers, oof…watch out for the tiger🐅

– Since Masa doesn’t work, he can stay home with you all day! Idk if this is a good thing, though, because Masa is very child-like himself, so it’s like being sick while looking after a toddler who’s trying to help you with their fake stethoscope

– You’ve got a runny nose, headache, plugged sinuses, sore throat and watery eyes, which Masa deduces from the symptom list Tatsu gave him that you have a cold. He’s had plenty of those before, but doesn’t exactly know how to care for someone with one; Masa usually just suffers until the virus eventually works its way out of his system

– Probably panics at first, because wtf does he know about medicine and illness?? What if he gives you the wrong thing and accidentally kills you? Masa will never be able to live with himself if he makes your cold worse because he’s an idiot

– Masa cares for you and he wants to help, though, so he goes to Google for advice. He doesn’t really know why sue-duh-fedd, ben’s a-drill and a face steamer will help, but if that’s what the guys on Reddit say, what could possibly go wrong? Reddit guys have helped him loads of times before…their advice is like a doctor’s advice to him

– Masa uses your card to buy a random assortment of medicines and machines that may help relieve your agony, rushing back and showing you each item, suggesting you try the face steamer first, because he thinks it’s the coolest. It does actually help you feel a bit better, even if it doesn’t really have any medical purpose, which boosts Masa’s confidence in himself

– “That’s why on the streets they call me The Doc.”

– With your nasally instructions, Masa is able to make you some black tea, and he takes it upon himself to make you ramen. Obviously you aren’t up to eating ramen, but Masa solves this by eating the noodles and leaving you the broth, which soothes your stinging throat. Hey, sometimes he’s a genius!

– Masa is oblivious to how he’s getting germs all over himself in the process of taking care of you, grabbing your dirty tissues, touching his face after touching yours, drinking out of your waterbottle for goodness sake…he claims he’s untouchable because he’s been drinking protein shakes like there’s no tomorrow

– the boy will literally try to kiss you full on the lips to “cure you.” dumbass. At least he’s a lovable dumbass

– Masa knows he’s lousy at taking care of people (and the house, and himself), but he really does want to relieve your suffering. He’ll shove all sorts of medicines down your throat in hopes it will magically cure your stuffy nose. He’ll listen to whatever the Redditers tell him, and definitely tries to get you to attempt their bizarre and just plain silly remedies

– “Okay babe, now b00bMILF3r says to stick one finger in your ear, then hold your breath while drinking water with cayenne pepper in it!”

– When you become tired from these odd suggestions, Masa will get quiet and sit beside where you’re lying on the couch and slowly run a hand over your leg in comfort. He may sneak a video game in or two, but he’ll constantly be glancing over at you to see if you’re okay, and he’ll keep his cheers down to a minimum

– he cringes everytime you blow your nose, but always gets you a new box when you run out, Googling every few minutes to check if someone came up with a cure for the common cold. Masa is upset when they haven’t, and wonders if it’s too late for him to become a scientist. You’re touched by his sudden ambitions, but think he should just stick to being morally supportive

– You’ll probably both end up being sick by the end of the week, lol, but at least then you can bum around in bed together and watch fun videos online to pass the time until you feel better

Are you sick right now with a cold, flu or other non-life-threatening but deeply obnoxious illness: Nope. but can I get on my soap box and remind people of masks? Every time someone at work travels they don't wear masks and come back sick and it's hmmmm, wonder why that is? My one coworkers came back from Alaska last month coughing up a lung and I just went home because I have no interest in being sick.

When you’re sick are you a get-up-and-just-work-through-it kinda person or a lie-in-bed-and-moan-loudly-and-not-move kinda person? I faint on my couch like a fragile Victorian woman

What’s your ultimate comfort drink when you’re under the weather: Water and gatorade. When I'm super phlegmy I drink hot tea which I normally don't enjoy because I don't like hot drinks but it helps when you can't breathe.

Are there any superstitions or things you do that you believe will make you get better faster? Give my mom an illness or injury and she will tell you if it needs a hot or cold wash cloth to the forehead. Today when my sisters or I are sick we will text her if this is cold or hot wash cloth situation.

Do you take vitamin C or any other herbal remedies or do you think that’s all non-scientific nonsense? No, I should probably take in more vitamin C in general. I take daily vitamins for like a month then forget for a year.

When you were young and got to stay home from school what was your favourite show to watch (or thing to do whatever)? The Price is Right was a must then I would watch ER and Buffy and Gilmore Girls reruns.

Is there a secret favourite part you have to being sick? Not going to school/work

Worst part about being sick: Not being able to interact with people. I remember missing out on Mother's Day once and I felt so bad.

Who do you think would be the worst patient? Ian or Mickey? I don't think the Milkoviches would be a family that would take care of each if someone was sick. Like Terry would still force them to work so I don't think Mickey would know how to slow down and rest. Ian used to be stubborn too but had to learn how to take care of himself because of his mental health. So Mickey is definitely the worst, he's the kind of dad stereotype that would try to run a marathon to prove he was fine.
