I find it crazy how little people online are talking about Homebody (the horror game produced by the game grumps).
Am i just looking in the wrong places or is there literally no one talking about this game, let alone its symbolism?? Where are the theories? Where are the breakdowns discussing Sartre and Jung?! Im going crazy!

Hey, I wanna talk about Homebody, since I beat it the other day!
Tumblr media
So first of all, this game came out a few months ago, and I had no idea about it. The game is essentially a time looping, fix camera angled, psychological horror game, where you need to figure out how to escape the house or die trying. It's got that low poly look to it all, which fits the nostalgic kind of feel of older horror games of the ps1 era.
(Just gonna add a read more cause I do go on for a bit lol)
You play as Emily, meeting up with her old group of friends for an annual meteorite watch. She hasn't spoken to them in over a year, and she's dealing with her own set of issues. Not like her friends haven't been free of her own either. The game deals with issues like OCD, depression, and anxiety, and you can get a feel for it as you spend time talking to the others on each loop. Figuring out each other's relationship dynamics, their past issues, their current beefs, and how to move on; but that's only one part of it.
You're stuck in this house until you either figure out how to get out, or die due to a relently killer on the loose, who will be on the prowl looking for you as you go around the house, and will interupt you while solving puzzles. But, you have time, and that is something you gotta keep track of, along with a list of events that can determine when and where you should be when your taking care of business. It keeps you on your toes while trying to keep track of your tasks, but it can feel daunting or overwhelming first starting out. You gotta familiarize yourself with your surroundings, and what ends up being important or not with your first few loops.
But once you get the ball rolling, you'll be sliding through one puzzle to another. And I gotta say, I do like the puzzles! (Outside of minesweeper, cause I was never that good at it lol). There's enough hints for each puzzle you come across, and even your friends can provide explanations for the more obtuse puzzles (which I do think is very important to learn for some of the later stuff, cause I would not have been able to piece it together on my own just by glancing at it, let alone while everything still runs in real time.)
And if you're worried that you're gonna have to remember almost everything, don't worry, Emily has a steeltrap memory. You can review your puzzle hints and solutions in the pause menu. After certain points, certain puzzles will be removed for future loops, or even certain passages will be unlocked from the getgo. Just to remove either the monotony or otherwise completely unnecessary to resolve, which is nice for when you have to go deeper into the house.
Homebody ended up gripping me for the whole ride, just trying to figure out how to efficiently spend each loop, while trying to learn more about the gang as a whole and what their whole deal was, and seeing if we can get over that baggage that's been weighing on our shoulders without dying. Even learning who the owner of the house was and what his life was about that led this house being the way it is.
I highly recommend this game if you're looking for some good brain teasers, an interesting ride through mental health and dealing with that sweet, sweet psychological horror.

Just finished Homebody and.
Holy shit?
Granted, I think stuff with even the tiniest speck of interesting is the best thing in the world.
But.
SHIT SLAPS
I have never felt so called out yet empathized with by a game. The gameplay was already interesting, but the story was also simple yet frustratingly out of reach enough for me to keep going. I wanted to walk out that door. The adrenaline rush of running around the house, trying to find clues when I knew the killer was on my tail. Of course, I could try again in the next loop, but I have to get all these little things done in the same loop.
That anxiety. That dread. That perfectionism.
Emily runs faster than the killer, but she's also frustratingly slow. I would've been sprinting from room to room, but no, she's on a light jog.
Everyone provides some information for a puzzle. It's best to talk to someone when you're stuck. But you might be preoccupied trying to brute force it yourself.
Great game, thank you Jory for stripping the slutty little killer as the game progressed.

Get to know me tag game
79’s edition
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
//Rules// copy this post and answer the questions below + tag people you would like to see at 79’s!
Thanks for the tag @cloneflo99

So, imagine that all of us are living on Coruscant during the Clone Wars. Obviously, we would all be going to 79’s, right? Now I’m wondering what everyone is gonna wear the first time you’re going? What kind of drinks do you order? What will you be doing? Who will you be flirting with?
What to Wear: I tend to keep my hair short, chin or shoulder length, short enough that the most I can do with it is brush it and let it do its thing. Especially if I recently had it dyed a fun color, generally blue, green, or purple. Clothing-wise, I'm not going to dress to show off, shorts, boots, and a tank top. Maybe a thin jacket if it's cool enough. I'll have some subtle jewelry on, a white gold necklace, and matching pinky ring.
What to Order: I don't drink, I don't like the taste of any alcohol, so I'll be happy as the designated driver and drink a Sprite or a Coke (or the Star Wars equivalent).
What to Do: Talk and joke with my friends. The club is a social setting, after all, so I'm watching their stuff, making sure that they don't get too drunk, and making sure that no one messes with their drinks or their purses. I'd definitely be going home alone. (I'm the mom friend, lol)
Who to Woo: Honestly, Dogma or Echo. I'm a bit quieter, and I think they both would appreciate that I'm going out of my way to make sure that my friends have a good time. Plus, I like listening to people talk, so they can ramble about anything and everything under the sun, and I'd listen to them.

lol original anon here😭I wasn’t at all referring to the sir or ma’am or even politeness thing. I guess a better way to put it would be like… I was wondering if there was some reason you don’t usually write Bakugo as the fun parent. Cuz he gets home to u decorating cookies so ig im wondering about what fun stuff do you think he initiates with the kids? When hes not working ofc.
Anyway sorry to cause this whole mess, I hope u don’t feel like I was trying to … undermine your choices
OHHHHHH like fun stuff !!! okay !!! hmm hmm !! well tbh i think the unfortunate reality of him having kiddos would be that he's still working a lot, regardless 🥺 it's such a difficult topic i think i just avoid it LOL but anyway !! i usually write us as doing the things with the little bugs bc i just imagine that we're at home a little bit more than he is, or at least have a more flexible schedule that allows to us go out and do things, or pick up gingerbread houses from the store or board games or whatever !!
as far as what he does with them.....hmm.....ykw i think this stumps me a little too bc. i guess i'm just wondering aloud here what—his view of fun would be for a kiddo ?? bc what i feel like we predominantly see of his childhood, he wasn't with his parents, he was leading his lil bully group LMAO hmm. and idk !! was katsuki getting taken to the zoo and the waterpark ?? or was he training his quirk ?? like what WAS fun for him, at that age ?? at what point in his life would he define what is traditionally "fun" for children ??
i think, when he has time, he's just very hands-on with ??? like he's pushing the couch a little out of the way in the living room and the kiddos are tag-team wrestling him on the floor LOL or—
pause. another thought. i also think it would be hard to do anything public with his family bc i think he's very private with them !! so days out are maybe very minimal ! bc he doesn't want to draw attention !!
—anyway, i can imagine him taking the family on a lake getaway trip somewhere, and they're swimming together and he's teaching his littlest bug how to move around with their life vest and hoisting the older one up in the air and throwing them as far as he can in the water LOL do you know what i mean !!! i think his love language is just—being there. that's fun for him. just getting to be involved in any way. i don't imagine him as the one bringing the gingerbread house home bc i think he's working a lot, but when he does get home, he's tossing the kids around for a minute before letting his daughter sit in his lap so she can finish working on hers. do you know what i mean !!! does that make sense !!!
also you didn't even cause a mess whatsoever !!! i think a different anon started the conversation anyway and it was a fun convo to have !!! omg no worries !!

I’m still thinking about the last puzzle of Homebody when I was so wired from doing puzzle after puzzle and so nervous because of the final house-wide puzzle that I forgot elevators have call buttons and kept dying for no reason.
