#howto 🌀 Spinal Roll 🌀 . . I love a good spinal roll. First thing in the morning, after work, as a warm up - it just feels so good. Believe it or not spinal mobility and #corestrength go hand in hand 🤝 mobility and strengthening what a great exercise. . 🌀Benefits of Spinal Rolls: 1. #Relaxation - Moving with freedom helps to calm and relax the mind and the muscles. 2. #deepbreathing - Your breath flows naturally syncing to the movement of your spine. 3. #embodiment - this movement speaks with your whole outer body and inner body. I feel like I roll out my tension stress and worries. . 🌀Technique: 1️⃣begin rolling upwards and forward lengthening the legs. 2️⃣Rounding the spine with neck relaxed. 3️⃣Bending the knees travel backwards engaging your core and exhaling our. . 🌀Breath Work 1. Every time you travel upwards and forwards (rounding the spine) you open more of the body to access breath. By this expansion of the body you allow more breath to enter your nose, throat, chest, belly, sides and back. 2. Inhale as lift yourself up and forward and exhale as you bend and arch the spine backwards to begin again. . 🌀MY TOP TIPS ⤵️ I like to teach and think of reaching upwards and then melting down as the motion of the movement . Rippling like waves. Keep the movement fluid and comfortable. . No two spinal rolls are the same nor is there really a “correct” way to do them. #nosuchthingasperfect . The more you try it, the better you’ll get . 🤟🏼MOVE S L O W L Y !!! Don’t fling yourself into this back bend. Move slow & with control until you get the hang of it . 👌🏼BEND THE KNEES It is okay to bend your knees! And in the beginning you’ll want to bend them a lot until you build confidence . 👊🏼DON’T LET FEAR STOP YOU Lesson for life & for flipping your dog 😜 It is scary to flip like this!! If you’re worried, practice on carpet, have someone spot you or place some pillows around just in case.
