So you have a Tumblr account for a long time (or not), but probably you may have a theme that is not supported anymore by its developer, or they just vanished from the face of this earth.
That means that you might be having problems with the new Neue Post Format (NPF) and how is handling new post types.
For more on what went into creating the Neue Post Format, check out Tumblr's Engineering blog post.
I know some-what about coding and even made some themes for Tumblr, though those were for a client so I can share them here.
The goal of this blog is to help:
Fix an old theme that's not behaving well with the new format.
Update some JavaScript knowledge that's breaking your theme.
Update outdated code to better display your theme.
And whatever, if I can help, I will.
AND if you'd like to give me a tip for helping out, that'd be awesome but not require for me to help you. [Ko-Fi not ready yet!]
Please check the READ.ME
⬇️ Versão Português 🇧🇷🇵🇹
Tumblr media

Been using Obsidian for writing and worldbuilding and I gotta say. It's kind of a game changer. It can be a lil tricky at the start, but once you get the hang of it it's incredibly versatile. I've basically been looking for a program that lets me make my own private wiki and this is it. Get the Make.MD extension for it if you can. Outcaste writing's been picking up because of it. And just now I figured out that, if you want a place to futz around with HTML and CSS stuff outside of AO3's janky as hell HTML editor, it works quite well. All I had to do was remove the #workskin tag from my existing workskin, paste all the code into a css file in the right folder, and it can just. Give you an instant preview of the chapter you can edit easily without AO3's weird glitches. I'd highly recommend it.

Your site has convinced me to go make a neocities (tumblr glitching paranoia has gotten to me and by god I will be going back to the early 2000s if this place goes down) and oh my god coding is hard. I am in agony. Yes it's going to look very much like your site I am squinting so hard at your html trying to figure out how to do it. This is the worst looking thing I have ever made but there are three buttons that go nowhere now so I'm succeeding mildly at least
OMG PERCY!!! WELCOME TO THE NEOCITIES CRAZE!!! i'm literally so honoured to have inspired you to make a site. funnily enough, i *also* joined neocities after the tumblr-unfunctional-paranoia got to me, albeit in 2022. welcome to coding hell 😎
god, coding is hard. i hope you’re having fun, though. it's such a great hobby, once you're in The Zone. it’s a little like modeling a little clay image... digitally... anyways! i’m here to say: YOU’VE GOT THIS!!! feel free to reuse any code i’ve put down on octagon and PLEASE please please tell me your link!!! i want to look at it (regardless of “how much” is on there).
i’m sure you’re getting the hang on things fast, but since you activated my yapper mode, you now have to sit through unsolicited advice <3
if you’re looking for coding help, https://www.w3schools.com/ is a goldmine, as is https://htmlcheatsheet.com/. also, with CRTL+U you learn something new! ALWAYS investigate nice code to understand how they did that. and https://32bit.cafe/interactingontheweb/ has a lot of good tips for being social off of social media.
general rule of thumb is always: coding is digital arts + crafts. break your website. it’s more pronuctive than always coding in a breeze. never apologise for dropping off the earth and not updating in 6 weeks, 8 months or 15 years. some websites have been unmanned since 2001 and are still running, so don’t worry about it.
furthermore, i need to state that i'm a really bad example of a neocities coder LMAO. i code in the editor, i have 0 offline copies of my files and my form is chaotic at best. my website runs on pure html+css, i don't use javascript (yet) or iframes. most people code their sites in notepad, then run them in a compiler like https://playcode.io/html and THEN they post them to neocities. i am lazy. i do this directly IN neocities. don't be like me. save your page.
also. I’ve been doing this for 3 years. like, on the day for three years actually. here’s how my very first webpage looked in 2022:
Tumblr media
anyways. HAVE FUN. MAKE FRIENDS. DON’T FORGET TO BE YOURSELF. SPARKLE ON!!! NEVER HOTLINK! you’ve got this, if you have any questions, feel free to ask. i’m not sure i will be able to answer, but we can try haha. and PLEASE TELL ME YOUR WEBSITE!!! i would love to look at it and in classic neocities fashion, i’d obviously LINK YOU.
and here’s some sites that are awesome :3
The Maximalists. mobile inaccessible, IMAGE HEAVY!
https://ninacti0n.art/ EYESTRAIN
https://olliveen.neocities.org/ EYESTRAIN
https://phrogee.neocities.org/ EYESTRAIN
The Webcartoonists. also image-heavy. also probably not mobile accessible.
The Minimalists.

for some reason I keep having this recurring dream that in 2010-2015 you were able to edit your animal jam den with html and css and not many people knew about it around the time and they silently removed the feature in 2015 but people who used it before then were able to keep it and nowadays it would be very rare to come across an html den and basically treated like finding people with news crew badges nowadays and the people who had html dens nowadays tended to be snobby about it and there was an html and css tutorial in-game that went along with it that i somehow triggered a glitch to access like nowadays but i could only start like a few seconds of it before it would freeze and crash the game and it had you learning how to place this gif of a penguin in the animal jam style dancing using html but it didn't look exactly like the in-game penguins and looked smaller with thick feet and has-seen-god-himself eyes

Hi-Hi! Hello!
I'm Estee Barnes. I'm a writer and self-taught traditional and digital artist. I love to make my own stories and worlds. I'm not so much of a fandom person, so there will be less fandom posting here. I still call my characters my OCs, even if the abbreviation has that fandom connotation. It's just easier.
(I have no problem with fandom either. It's just not what I usually dabble in!)
My sideblogs love to glitch out and not show up when I @ them. You may have to manually search for them! Please let me know if they do not show up in Tumblr search. Note that my blogs are hidden from people without an account.
Anyways, the sideblogs are all for my various OC stories. They are:
@halboro-1994 (H94; main OC story. Archived version of the blog is @/halboro1994. Don't interact with the archived version please!)
@ask-halboro (H94; an ask blog for the characters. In a cycle of being abandoned and then restarted every so often. If I find a format I like I might actually start encouraging asks.)
@oath-and-creed (O&C; main blog for Oath & Creed, another story of mine. Not to be confused with the 'official' blog!)
@oath-and-creed-official (O&C; the ask blog for the story. Not to be confused with the regular blog!)
@super-space-sailor (SSS; a story of mine from within H94/O&C but also its own separate universe. Blog needs a major renovation.)
@thebutterflyeffect-tbe (TBE; another story of mine. Does not link the @ for some reason. Should appear in the search bar, hopefully. Let me know!)
@intergalactic-inn (IINN; another story of mine. Currently considering a major change to/redo of the plot.)
@tualoma (no abbreviation; another story of mine. Currently exists only as vague concepts on the verge of forming into a story. It's been like that for a while. Pretty quiet blog!)
Fandoms/media I am interested in (to various degrees) include others' OCs, SDV, HtTYD (specifically RttE, specifically Snotlout), and MCSM.
Other things I like include PNGs, website coding (I am learning HTML and CSS), that sun and moon imagery which was everywhere in the '90s (AKA whimsigoth), and cats. I do reblog a lot of shitposts.
More stuff under the cut. Includes my permissions surrounding use of my creative endeavours (visual art, writing, OCs, et cetera). Read, understand, and heed them if you have not already!
Personally, I don't really have much of a DNI. I will say I don't want bigots and creeps coming here. However, I mostly rely on just blocking people. I tend to hard block a lot, even if I'm not super annoyed. Mutuals won't be hard blocked unless it's over something really big.
I do not consent for any of my writing, visual artworks, OCs, or other creative endeavours (items) to be used for anything by anyone without my explicit permission on a case-by-case basis per item. I have not ever knowingly and willingly consented to my items being used for scrapping purposes, nor will I ever knowingly and willingly consent to it.
Do not repost/re-upload my works to other sites or blogs (reblogging is different; you can reblog to your blog (not community)!). Do not reblog my works to Tumblr communities. Do not trace, edit, or otherwise copy my items (referencing the bare basics/fundamentals of a pose is okay; tracing broadly refers to mostly using the line art itself).
I believe all art is inspired by things and all art will continue to inspire. However, ripping entire concepts of my creative endeavours/items (entire outfits, full names, story, et cetera) for your own purposes is copying, not inspiration.
I know coincidences happen, but seeing a character with a unique outfit specific to an OC of mine (e.g., Renee's windbreaker jacket) is much more suspicious and likely to be called out than a regular/typical outfit (e.g., Lucas's green hoodie).
If you make fanwork of my OCs, let me know! Excluding Art Fight and if you're a mutual, I will only be comfortable having the artwork posted to my blog first. Proper artist credits and links will always be given and visible! I just don't trust the default scrapping settings on most social medias. You are encouraged to reblog it to your own blog or link to the post on your other social media(s)! Artists still deserve an audience. Again, I just don't trust default settings.
Please like this post (or preferably comment) so I know you have read it!

Never underestimate how much a weird interest can help someone out in other aspects of their life.
Tumblr media
I was exposed to the concept of how byte storage works as a result of deep diving the how and why of old gameboy game glitches like missingno and the mew glitch in Pokemon RBY. That randomly helped me out today in my big important grown up job. I learned the basics of coding by making cringy html/css based websites for my neopets. That gave me the foundation to quickly pick up how to code SCORM packages for online web courses in my previous job--and now--look at log pulled from my own scan tool session on a car where a routine failed, and be able to see when and why that happened. Which will tell me where to look to find the problem.

If anyone with knowledge of css / html and probably neocities could try to help me with an issue I’d be so thankful because I’m at a complete loss what is happening
To try to organize my neocities site I planned on having things in folders to make it easier to find what I need and not get overwhelmed.
The issue is when I have a web page in a folder and not in the exact same spot as the css.. The css glitches and does weird things. If I take the same code of the pages and put it in the same area as the css it works fine?
What it’s supposed to look like (css + page in the same folder)
Tumblr media
What happens when I link to the css instead of making a copy to the same folder
Tumblr media
As you can see it’s a sort of major issue. I guess I could just move the css into each folder… but that’s a lot of copies of something and feels like a really weird issue that should have a simple solution but I have no idea what’s causing parts of it to break and padding to go away .-.

Unleashing Creativity: Teaching Web Development Basics
Gaining a foundational understanding of web development is becoming just as important for students as traditional education in this age of digital innovation. Students’ creativity is stimulated and they are prepared for a world in which having an online presence is crucial by being introduced to HTML, CSS, and fundamental web design concepts.
Tumblr media
Here are some methods teachers can use:
Project-Based Learning: Plan experiential learning opportunities that walk students through building a simple website. Introduce CSS for styling gradually after starting with basic HTML structures.
Platform: Use online platforms like CodePen, Glitch, or Repl.it to provide a real-time coding environment. These platforms allow students to see instant visual results as they code.
Interactive Tutorials: Introduce interactive tutorials that guide students through the basics of HTML and CSS. Platforms like Codecademy or freeCodeCamp offer step-by-step lessons with immediate feedback.
Platform: Codecademy, freeCodeCamp, and Khan Academy are excellent platforms for interactive tutorials, allowing students to learn at their own pace.
Collaborative Coding: Encourage your students to collaborate on projects during collaborative coding sessions. This encourages collaboration and facilitates peer learning among students.
Platform: Utilize version control systems like GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket. These platforms enable students to collaborate on code, manage versions, and receive feedback from peers and teachers.
Web Development Bootcamps: Introduce mini “BOOTCAMP” sessions where students immerse themselves in intensive, focused learning for a short period. Cover key HTML and CSS concepts during these sessions.
Platform: Platforms like Udacity, Coursera, or edX offer short-term courses and bootcamps on web development that can be adapted for classroom use.
Showcasing Web Design Principles: Teach not just the coding but also the principles of good web design. Discuss topics like user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design.
Tumblr media
Throughout your classes, provide fascinating information about web development. For example, did you know that the very first website ever made is still up and running? Being able to share these trivia not only makes learning more enjoyable but also piques students’ interests.
For kids, adding a foundational understanding of web programming to upper-grade courses opens up a world of opportunities. Makers’ Muse Ed-Tech provides the materials and tools required to make learning successful and interesting. Teachers may spark students’ interest in technology and equip them to become the next generation of digital landscape creators by teaching HTML, CSS, and fundamental web design principles. Together with Makers’ Muse, let’s educators take our students on this fascinating adventure that will cultivate their creativity and provide them with the tools they need to succeed in the rapidly changing field of web development.

Taking Toyhou.se PAGE CODE/HTML commissions—FCFS, I’m just trying to get at least $40 or so. I’d prefer to have these done this week.
Examples:
https://toyhou.se/Kork/characters
I can do user codes, warning codes, commission sheet codes, character codes, matching codes… just about anything. The only thing I can’t do is CSS, which alters the site’s full theme on your page.
Alternatively I’m doing shaded halfbodies like this for $10-$15 each:
https://toyhou.se/GLITCH-DXCTOR/art#68676956
OCs and canon characters more than welcome. HOWEVER, I WILL NOT DRAW SUPERNATURAL OR DELTARUNE.
Please DM me if you’re interested.
