rushed Huma wedding sketch
Tumblr media
“I know pronounce you, husband and wife” Gil proclaimed with a proud, watery, smile, folding his script and gesturing to his best friends “you may kiss the bride”. the small party of Uma and Harry’s family and friends burst out into cheers as Harry took off Uma’s hat and grabbed her waist, the smile never leaving his face as Uma tugged him down to meet his lips.
It felt as if magic itself had burst in their chests, swelling up until waves burst up the sides the ship, creating an almost rainbow effect as sea water misted down upon the party and the newly weds. Harry leaned Uma back slightly, kissing her as if she was his air, his soul, his life. Uma kissed back just the same. soon they separated, Harry sneaking one last peck before replacing the captain’s hat on Uma’s head; holding her close as they turned to face their friends and family.
“May i now introduce, Mr. and Mrs. Hook!” Gil practically yelled, smiling so wide it looked like it hurt as the wedding party cheered for the newly weds, Mal and Evie sending confetti into the sky as Uma and Harry kissed again, their newly adorned rings shining in the sunlight.

Let me incoherently share my favourite Huma headcanon:
Rise timeline doesn't exist, btw, because I don't like it ✨
So, Ben is the King of Auradon at sixteen, right? That means it is also the age of majority in Auradon and on the Isle, not that anyone on the Isle really cares, but anyway. Adult stuff legal. You know, drinking, marriage...
Essentials for a king basically.
Coincidentally, when Core 4 leave for Auradon, the majority of them are sixteen: as are Sea Three.
And when the Core 4 publically declares Good, dooming the other Isle children, in they eyes of the Isle kids at least, well, it is perfectly legal for the pirates get drunk. (They'd get drunk even if it was illegal, but hey. Not the point.)
They get blackout drunk.
You know, hysterical laughter, shouting obscenities towards Auradon and Core Four, picking fights just because. The port is the epicenter of the Isle-wide ruckus, as it has clear wiev of Auradon.
Now, somewhere during that time... Harry Hook and Uma decide that they should get married. Like, right now.
They have not ever told eachother that they care of the other (not out loud), let even admit that there might be something like love between them: Villains can't love, please!
But, you know, it sounded like a good idea at that time.
And since their crew and Harry's sisters and basically all Isle kids have been shipping them since forever, they go along with it.
Gil officiates, of course: he gets the papers and gets Harriet to double check them. (Harriet then forwards the papers to Dr. F. And Yen Sid, making it as official as can be.)
Harry and Uma sign, their signatures clear for the amount of alcohol in their blood.
The hateful and resentful atmosphere turns into a careless celebration, all betrails forgotten for the night.
And when the Harry and Uma wake up next morning, well, they carry on as if nothing changed.
They don't remember a thing.
No one bothers talking to them about the wedding: Everyone assumes they know and just refuse to acknowledge it.
Harriet got just as much of a window as the two of them, and CJ is waiting for the chaotic fall out when they find out.
That doesn't happen for very long, though.
It's years after that when a wedding is mentioned on the Lost Revenge again. It's after the Royal Wedding, too.
„We should get married,“ mentions Uma offhandedly.
Harry, of course, is fully onboard with the idea. They start planning, only to be interrupted by confused Gil:
„Guys?“ he says, „You do know that you are already married, right?“
„WHAT?!“
„Well, yeah. I've got the papers in my cabin, do you want to see them?“
„YES.“
Gil fetches the certificate and the couple inspects them: They look real enough, and those are undoubtedly their signatures. And the date?
„We have been married this whole time?“ wonders Harry.
„Why didn't you tell us?!“ demands Uma, much less amused than Harry.
„Um, we,“ Gil struggles with the answer a bit, „We kidna assumed you knew.“
„What the fuck.“
(That was Uma.)
„Well, I still want a wedding,“ she says moments later, „Since I don't remember the first one.“
She glares at Harry as if it was his fault, and he just cackles: „Second wedding it is, love. Gotta up the purple dragon and the boy king, anyway.“

domestic simon riley headcanons perhaps?
ooh i'm gonna love writing thissssss!!
Domestic Simon Headcanons:
wakes up at either 4 or 5 am, even after retiring. doesn't let go of the military morning routine.
if you're sleeping, he'll give you the softest kiss before fixing the blanket so you're not cold.
brushes his teeth and immediately hits the gym. loves the food you make, will tear that shit up but he thinks he should be keeping his body fit too. doesn't want Johnny to tease him for becoming soft(you personally love him even when he's a huge teddy bear).
when he comes back and sees you making breakfast, he won't hesitate to give you back hugs despite your complains of him being sweaty and smelly. "Si, no! Take a shower first, you're stinky!" "Shower can wait, lovie. I need to give my girl a kiss first."
calls you all sorts of nicknames like lovie, darling, sweetie, doll, my girl, etc.
if he's hungry and you're not at home, the only thing he can make is tea and toast. might burn the bread a little, might add a can of beans or potato mash(bri'ish tings), do not trust him with the kitchen.
if you're doing chores together, he would definitely want to help a lot even if he doesn't know much. for example, he'd definitely help with keeping the counter clean and taking dishes out from the dishwasher if you're cooking.
why waste water? take a shower together! "Water's too hot, doll. You're gonna burn." "Water's just fine." "You make me wonder what kinda demon I fell in love with."
genuinely gets scared if you call him Simon Riley, or worse if it's Ghost. will start contemplating about every single thing he did and where he might've gone wrong. "Simon Rile-" "I'm right here, sugar. Anything wrong? Need a shoulder massage?" "I-...please get the box of pasta from the top shelf." "Anything for you, doll."
he generally refuses to let you see him in full gear, prefers to keep Ghost out of his lovely Manchester apartment. but once after he was done with a long mission, he was so tired that he entirely forgot he had a significant other and walked inside the house with his balaclava and everything. you almost let out a scream when you saw a tall figure with a skull face hovering over you as you were sat on the couch, reading your favorite book. "AAAHH-" "Darling?"
he would legit go "?????" before he realizes that he has his mask on and everything. removes it immediately and sees your eyes soften, arms wide open for him. he takes you in a bone crushing hug, not forgetting to kiss your forehead.
always the big spoon when sleeping, but loves your arm around him too. will keep one arm out for you to rest your head on, doesn't care if it's numb, and the other around your waist. when you're facing him, he will hold your head and hips protectively, letting you bury your face in his chest and neck.
doesn't believe that a man should be controlling what his partner wears, he will encourage your to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident. keeps a protective arm around your waist in public to show that you're his. "Wear whatever you want, sweetie. I can fight, ain't got all this body for nothing."
arguments with him are always short. he would not let anything get to a point that you two are shouting on each other's faces, he does not want to be like his father. goes to a different room to cool himself down before he opens the door to find you.
has a hard time apologizing with words at first, will try to get you something like flowers or give you a silent hug. but he soon learns to say "sorry" and to be gentler with you.
will get down on one knee and present you the ring when you least expect it. wants to have a small wedding at a church with only a few people, preferably TF141, Laswell, your immediate family and a few close friends you have.
wants kids, but won't force you if you don't want to. will consider resigning from the military if he does end up being a dad, he doesn't want to risk his life out there when he has two beautiful human beings to come home to. "Such a poppet, isn't she? Just like her mama." "Don't give me all the credit, honey. She's got your looks too, pretty little thing."
will take you out for dates, dinners too. believes that a relationship shouldn't be stagnant. you get to pick the restaurant and he will willingly pay for whatever you want to eat. you just have to look pretty <3
although he likes to put the most effort, he expects you to put effort too. he takes offense if you disregard how he feels, is devoted to you and expects you to love him the same.
little things matter to him. he pays attention to how you make tea for him, how you do not push him when he doesn't want to talk about something, how you adjust the blanket over both of you every time he comes home late and plops himself down on the couch with you.
overall, the sweetest but realistically speaking, it might be a bit tough to live with him considering he's in the military and has a bitter past. but as long as you're ready to compromise and understand him, he will return the love tenfold and more.

Is there like a holy grail of fanfic that you've read?
This is really hard to answer because I've read a lot of fics that I think are holy grails. I made a post similar to this question with some of my favorite writers and fics here:
But the list has definitely expanded.
Everything by @panthera-tigris-venenata. But some of my all time favorites, "A wedding on the Lost Revenge," "Your siblings are dead, CJ. I’m so sorry," "First Touch Lingers," "Paint my nails," and honestly all her chapter fics.
I LOVE "Guardian of my heart" by lollypop21
"For All the Places I Have Been (I’m No Place Without You)" by tabbycatssidy. It's fluffy Huma which I could read all day.
"Til the Storm Comes, and the World is Quiet" by elphaba_swan
"Ultimate Tragedy" by Eloras_Headcanons
Rosie2009 fics are like comfort fics to me. I re-read them a lot honestly. My favorite, maybe "A Pirate in Gentleman's Clothing" because it's huma
"Just an Ordinary Day in the Life of an Auradonian Pirate" by Arro_Sohng is cute
"Lost Girl" by dragons_SRSunn is really well done.
"Pirate Goddess" by NocturnaIV 😍
Ahhh I could actually go on forever. I love fanfic, it is my heart and soul, and I love all these wonderful writers. Most of them have a lot of other stories that are really good too, these are all on AO3 btw.

Brutally honest thoughts on each Descendants character.
Disclaimer: Only going to do characters that I can think of at the moment that don't really require me to look them up. I've seen the original trilogy, the Royal Wedding special, the Christmas special in between D2 and D3, and the Halloween Special after D3. I've seen Wicked World, read only Rise Of The Isle by Messila De La Cruz and two books from the School of Secrets series. I don't plan on watching the newest movie that supposedly is coming out later this year on Disney+.
So, we here go!
Uma - I've liked Uma since the beginning. Also, look at the stuff I reblog on here! I'm a big Huma shipper.
Harry Hook - Seriously, look at the stuff I reblog on here!
Gil - A Himbo. He's cute and means well but, he's not the sharpest tool in the shed. I have him paired up with Cj(which I aged her up and aged Harriet down for my canon of Descendants and made them triplets.)
Cj Hook - First character I focused on alongside with Gil before I started majorly focusing on Uma and Harry. Not really a big fan of the voice they had her for Wicked World. I get she's supposed to be at least like 2 or 3 years younger than Harry but, to me, the voice doesn't match with the personality that Cj has. I head cannon Sabrina Carpenter as Live action CJ (Though shorter than the height I have Cj in my universe)
Freddie and Ceila - Could have done more with both of them in both Wicked World and Descendants 3
Dizzy - I liked her in Descendants 2 but, could have done so much more with her in Descendants 3
The Smee Twins (Yes, I forgot their names) - Really don't see the point of why they were in there. They had like 10 minutes of screen time and not any dialogue in the final cut of the movie. Their existence seems pointless to the story besides them being children of Mr. Smee, Captain Hook's first mate
Zevon - Another Wicked World character. Could have done more with him than they did if I remember correctly
Mal - Didn't really care for Mal in the beginning. Now with all the stuff that's coming out about Dove Cameron lately regarding her on set behavior during Descendants 3, I think it's not a bad thing I don't really care for Mal
Evie - I'll admit it, Evie and Ben should have been together. They seem to be a better fit than Mal and Ben. A little better than Ben and Audrey as a couple but, that's neither here or there
Jay - Don't really see why it was implied that Cj had a crush on Jay in Wicked World. Not saying that it's a bad thing, just don't see it
Carlos - Definitely should have done more with his relationship with Jane in the last 2 movies
Ben - Should have made Ben break up with Mal after he figured out that she literally drugged him and made him cheat on Audrey. And definitely should have had him apologize to Audrey and officially break up with her because of that. I get that he did end up loving Mal also, but come on, man!
Audrey - Really hated her in the beginning. Over the last year or so, I've stopped hating her. That doesn't mean I like her
Chad - Well, he's Chad
Doug - Should have tone down the creepy factor in D1 and not the personality switch up in D2 when they go back to the Isle
Lonnie and Jane - Could have done so much more and much better things for them than what happened to them in the movies and Wicked World
Belle and Beast - What in the actual fuck!
VK parents - Not sure what to say here
That's all of the characters I can think of at the moment

About Mehmed's Involvement In Lale's Death
Here's what I think
Vlad leaves for Wallachia without Lale. Possibly reaches an understanding with Mehmed regarding Lale's safety
Mehmed announces his and Lale's engagement
On the night before the wedding, Lale discovers Mehmed did something horrible (fratricide? The real life Mehmed codified it into law and apparently killed his infant brother as soon as he rose to power the second time + in 4x01, the Ambassador put some fears about that in Mehmed's head)
Lale runs to the river, for some reason. Maybe Huma's house is no longer safe for her + would remind her of Mehmed
Ambassador meets her there
Lale drowns when trying to escape him (see: the creepy speech by Ahmed)
Tumblr media
I think, if Mehmed was objectively responsible for Lale's death, that he would hold himself responsible for it in present time. He would have said "I hurt a girl, so many times..." or something, but what he says is "I nearly hurt a girl", so we know he's referring to the assault in 1446 (and even if he was referring to the death, he says "nearly"). What would be the logic of considering almost hurting her the worst thing he's ever done if he had actually killed her?
Tumblr media
I think there is a misunderstanding/miscommunication somewhere and Vlad blames Mehmed, but the blame is not directly Mehmed's. And I think it makes sense for Mephis/Ambassador to play them both and make them both think the blame resided with the other, instead of with him. And once that misunderstanding is cleared up, Vlad and Mehmed can join forces to defeat Mephis and save Laia
TL;DR: Mehmed didn't directly kill Lale, but it helps Mephis that Vlad thinks that's the case.

We need to stop acting like people -- women especially -- going through painful procedures is normal.
"Beauty is pain" is such bullshit. I've been told that was something I had to get used to, what with being a little girl and all. As if "beauty" has a single definition. We decide what the definition of "beauty" is, and I've decided that body hair is included in that definition. I say this because today someone, once again, commented on the fact I don't shave at my ripe old age of 21. ("You'd look so much prettier if you did just this one little thing," they say, referring to the act of putting hot wax on one's skin and ripping it off.)
Hurting ourselves over constantly-changing beauty standards is so normalised, and I fucking hate it. It makes me so angry I want to cry, and then tell every teenager who hates themself right now to please stop. To take them in my arms, and shield them from a world hell-bent on skewing their perception of what a human looks like. I want to protect them and never let them see those toxic "how to surprise your boyfriend for Valentine's Day *wink* " or "how to prep for hot girl summer" articles.
When I first found out what a Brazilian wax was, I was horrified. I couldn't believe people voluntarily did this to themselves.
But they -- the media and the magazines and the beauty industry -- do such a good job of conditioning you to believe that your body is dirty, that thick hair is something to be ashamed of, that that horror has been replaced by a new one -- the fear that no one will ever love me, or find me attractive, if I do not conform.
We've been taught our body hair is bad since SUCH a young age. Fuck, as an Indian, I was even taught darker skin is bad. Bleaching skin is SO common in India; the fairness cream ads are utterly shameless and ubiquitous. My mother casually talks about how she went for skin bleaching before her wedding -- part of the "bridal makeup", I suppose. In a country of dark-skinned, hairy people, we look to blonde, fair-skninned Hollywood stars for guidance. And OF COURSE we fall short. Beauty standards like that were never meant for us; in idolising them we set ourselves up to fail.
Does anyone else see how insidious and sinister this plot is? To start conditioning people to hate themselves right when they are babies -- through their mothers who hate their own bodies and pass these insecurities on; through main characters in TV shows and books who are only ever one kind of pretty; via movies where the 'unattractive, unpopular teen' turns sterotypically beautiful, and only then becomes 'cool' or worthy of love; through magazines geared to audiences as young as twelve, telling them to alter their appearance in order to be deemed desirable.
What a masterstroke:
To inextricably connect beauty with lovability, so that our fear of not having good enough hair, skin or makeup turns into a fear of being unlovable.
The former they mock -- "women take so long to get ready!" "Heather cares too much about her makeup" -- while the existence of the latter is normalised or ignored: "Everyone has insecurities. Everyone hates their body." Yeah, WHY? It doesn't need to be that way.
They make people believe the pain is worth it. They give the illusion that you have a choice, that you've made this decision -- to get that brazilian wax or boob lift or nose job -- but you've been led here all your life. They make us believe that the pain is a worth it, a stepping stone to get something far more valuable -- others' love and approval. You've been influenced to believe certain things are desirable. You've been taught your natural existence, isn't. Does this count as acting under your own volition if you've been born into a world that's been pressuring you, in direct and subliminal ways, since the day you were born?
The pain is not worth it, and I will not let them make me torture myself. I do not exist for their aesthetic pleasure. I exist to experience the earth and what it is like to be a human, to eat food and watch sunsets and frolic in the grass and hug friends.
Repeat after me:
I do not exist for other people's aesthetic pleasure.
Fuck everyone. I'm so done.
No more shame.
No more hiding my legs with jeans and long skirts.
I have body hair. Not only on my hands and legs, but on my fingers and toes as well. I have an almost-unibrow. And you know what? I have decided it is beautiful. One day I will find people who agree, and goddammit, I will be loved by them.
And if I can't, fine.
I will yearn for love, and maybe I will be desperate and lonely, but I WILL NOT change myself for someone to love me. Because that wouldn't be real love in the first place. They wouldn't be loving me, not really. They would be loving the actor who is playing me. And I would still feel lonely, only this time in their company.
A boyfriend whose love I'd constantly be afraid of losing; afraid he would find out what a monster I really am. I'd hold on to my shame and keep it buried in the darkest recesses of my mind: the natural habitat of insecurity.
But the thing is: any relationship that requires you to hide parts of yourself is not real love at all.
So, I reiterate: I. Am. Done.
With the beauty standards about hair, skin colour, makeup, eyebrows, glasses, weight, boob or butt or dick size (?? Why are these even a thing? I genuinely don't get it), height, teeth, everything.
I don't fit them. It's okay.
(It's not always okay. My self-esteem swings from finding myself absolutely repulsive some days, to remembering I've been conditioned to be this way, then feeling years-old rage (how dare they brainwash me to hate myself so?) and grief (how much more confident a person could I have been if I hadn't been made to feel trapped in my own skin).
It goes from sunny skies of heartfelt gratitude (my body is healthy, it does so much for me, keeps me alive and helps me experience the world) to the dark pits of self-loathing (no one could ever love me; I shouldn't subject people to my hideous existence) -- to wishful thinking (all my problems would be solved if only I were as pretty as them; how do people look like that??)
But through it all, I will be my natural, hairy, big brown self -- and anyone who has a problem with it can go to Hell and suck Satan's dick.

In the story for the Werewolf Ice, you said that each of Val Kilmer's characters should turn into werewolves. We couldn't agree more on that! But could you please tell us what breed and color of wolf you have in mind for Val’s characters?
I am extremely headcanon-promiscuous, so each iteration would definitely come with its own distinct type of wolf. Overlaps, if they happen, would be circumstantial. When I write Iceman, he has a completely different family in each story, for example. I like the diversity, and enjoy being forced to come up with a different background that makes me consider what it was about THAT background that made Ice himself.
It doesn’t always need to be deep, either. Werewolf Iceman is an Iberian wolf, a subspecies of gray wolf that lives in Greenland. Just kidding. It’s the Iberian peninsula. I picked that wolf for Top Gun Iceman because they are trim, tightly muscled, and golden in color, just like Iceman’s tits in the volleyball scene. Also, Iberian wolves are cool.
Time for a
~Thunderheart Intermission~
Werewolf Ray Levoi is a Eurasian wolf, also a subspecies of gray wolf. Because Thunderheart takes place on an Indian Reservation and features a character of mixed indigenous/western European descent, I incorporated that into the lore of the story. The ancestral werewolf who gives Ray his power lives in modern day France, where she is worshiped, respected, and mostly feared. Ray’s mother is from a line of females (my werewolves pas down their power matrilineally) who immigrated from Europe to America. They are out of place in the US. Lost and isolated from their arcane culture. Ray specifically struggles with that on both fronts. His mother the European werewolf was too afraid to pass most things down to her son, and white settlers initiated multiple genocides to wipe out local werewolf populations, even seeking to kill the local ancestors to hobble them. This is because werewolf magic works to prevent things like consolidation of magical power. They’re like the water cycle but for magic. That makes hoarding magic very difficult! So Ray has almost NO connection to his werewolf side. He can’t even get in with the local werewolves because there aren’t any left (that he knows of…).
Similarly, he feels disconnected from his father’s people, the Oglala. His dad died when he was young, so he had very little exposure to Oglala culture. He’s white passing, and only goes back because his bosses at the FBI want him to root out activists, which he will do suuuuuper successfully by ingratiating himself with the locals. This will happen because he [checks smudged writing on partially censored document] shares an ancestry with the people his bosses are trying to put in the ground. For obvious reasons, this does not make him popular there because everyone with a brain cell knows what the fuck is up.
Tumblr media
This is Walter and Ray doing their First Look on their wedding day. :) The sexual tension here is palpable.
But wait there’s more!!! In this AU, Ray is a black Eurasian wolf. Why? Because all black wolves have a little domesticated dog in them. That’s where they get that color. I didn’t pick a representative identity for the wolf and dog parts, since that’s not what I’m going for, especially given the fact that this AU is working with indigenous Americans: marginalized groups of people frequently compared to animals by virulent racists. Instead, the color is meant to symbolize Ray being torn between the magical and mundane worlds, being unable to find complete belonging in either place.
~the intermission has ended~
And now what you probably came here for: a small, unofficial official list of potential Val Kilmer Werewolves.
Tombstone Kilmer: red wolf that is always a lil dusty
Batman Kilmer: a timber wolf that was born in a zoo next to the bat enclosure
Real Genius Kilmer: a coyote pretending to be a wolf
Willow Kilmer: a tundra wolf wearing a wizard hat
Prince of Egypt Kilmer: Wepwawet's cousin
10th & Wolf Kilmer: human. too human.
Kiss Kiss Bang Bang Kilmer: extremely smart great plains wolf that willingly does enrichment puzzles with human field researchers for fun

What do you think of the upcoming spin off? If you ask me, my expectations are very, very thin.
I don’t feel the hype.
My main problem is that they are coming up with new character AGAIN when there is so many they could use. Who the hell is Chloe Charming? Why was she never mentioned? They could use Arianna Rose- if they’re so desperate for a new ak.
I think they’re just stretching out popular franchise after the royal wedding at this point- it seems like they finally exhausted Mal- centered plot lines
I’m excited for Uma though. Also maybe Huma finally becomes canon so there is that
My expectations are low but maybe Disney surprises us

Okay fic idea in bullet points for Reasons:
It's after D2
Uma meets CJ while on the run
CJ is like thirteen and absolutely convinced that her older brother and Uma are in love. She's also a major menace to society
They also pick up Arabella of Atlantica. Who should be also thirteen or so for the purposes of this fic. A bit of a menace with a tiny bit of a corruption arc.
But she's very easily convinced by CJ that there's True Love going on
So Uma just has two menaces chatting about her future wedding 24/7 while discussing increasingly unhinged plans to overthrow the government. But, y'know. Uma's love life takes priority.
Uma loses her nerves within two weeks at most
And (with Arabella's help) steals the trident. Which allows them to slip on the Isle.
Cue Huma reunion, Hook siblings reunion, and Arabella who now gets to be a menace to society in previously unapproachable ways
(Ehm, she CJ and Helena Sinclair playing matchmakers for as many Isle kids as possible)
And then Uma gets the Isle kids on the ships & not actively murdering and hurting eachother (unless it's consensual tho) and they sail off to the sunset ✨✨
And no one in Auradon knows because they're still trying to see a sea witch underwater. From land. And expecting to succeed.

Introducing Recollections, my most recent Jalice fanfic.
Recollections is a collection of interconnected OneShots that span Jasper's life with Alice. They are in the same continuity, but can be read as stand-alones.
You can find it on AO3 , FF.net or just read it right below, here on tumblr.
Summary: Due to perfect recollection, it is entirely unnecessary for vampires to keep a diary or similar record of our immortal lives. However, that doesn't stop some of us, especially those with semi-permanent residences, from keeping little collections of mementoes. For me, it is dates and places. Written down neatly in the small leatherbound notebook Alice gifted me many years ago, they guide my memory whenever I decide to delve back into a certain period of my past. And there are many moments, both happy and sad, joyful and terrifying, to remember.
Word Count for this Chapter: 2'513
Timeline for this Chapter: This happens immediately after breaking dawn. The witnesses have left, giving the Cullens some time to recoup and reflect on what happened.
Trigger Warnings: none
Rating: PG
---------
Prologue - December 31, 2006 - Forks, WA.
December 31, 2006 - Forks, WA.
The line filed in perfectly with the other dates on the page, handwriting impeccable. It had not always been this way. Writing was one of many human skills and mannerisms I had to master again in the years after finding my salvation. Alice had been very patient; always glad to help, and never disappointed.
It was one of the things I absolutely loved about her. She had spent twenty-eight years with visions of me, most of them of a brighter future. A future, where we were together. Where my eyes were golden, and I resembled more the man I was today than the soulless ragged shell she met that rainy day in Philadelphia.  And still, she had never once been frustrated or discouraged. So pure was her belief in the companionship we would once share.
I could still recall how her small hand had wrapped around mine as she guided a few clumsy strokes to form her name. Of course, I could. Perfect recollection was a trait all vampires acquired upon transformation. It had been both a curse and a blessing to me. So many memories I would have preferred to forget but at the same time, so many instances—most of them with Alice—I never wanted to let go.
Due to our impeccable memory, it was entirely unnecessary to keep a diary or similar record of our immortal life. But that didn’t stop some of us, especially those with semi-permanent residences, from keeping little collection of mementoes.
Carlisle, for example, held an impressive selection of artworks which he carefully wrapped and took with him whenever we moved. Thirty-seven paintings, all of them beautiful on their own. However, they only gained true meaning when they were put together in the right order. Neatly arranged on his office wall, they told the story of the kindest, most honourable and compassionate man I’d ever had the pleasure of meeting.
Esme kept a small ornate box with reminders of her family members on her nightstand. She had only recently brought it down to the living room to add a lock of Renesmee’s first haircut and took the opportunity to show the contents to her niece.
I was aware that Alice had given her the first drawing she made of our family, back when it was nothing more than a vision in her head. But up until that moment, when Esme carefully placed the keepsakes into Renesmee’s hands one by one, I had no clue what other tokens the box contained.
A small blue sock she had knit for her child that unfortunately left this world far too young.
A picture of Carlisle’s and her wedding day.
A small piece of paper on which Edward had scribbled the first notes of the composition that eventually became Esme’s song.
The single earring Rosalie still wore when Carlisle found her that night in Rochester.
A flower—now pressed and dried— that Emmett brought back from his first-ever hunting trip.
An Italian recipe she had printed out to try for Bella when she still was a human.
And a single brown button. I couldn’t help but smile when she gently lifted it between her fingers, the memory of that day flooding my thoughts.
xxx
Alice and I had been with the Cullens for about two years. I had been very reluctant to leave her alone with the others for prolonged periods of time, even though I never perceived a single hostile sentiment from any of them. But eventually I had to get over that, and I knew it. Still, I was worked up when Rosalie took Alice down to New York for an extended shopping trip, and Emmett decided it would be best to take me out as well. Let off some steam.
We returned from our hunting trip only a few hours before the girls would arrive and while cleaning up, I noticed that one of the buttons on my shirt had come loose. Alice would just have thrown the shirt away instantly, but as someone who was used to wearing the same clothes over and over until they fell apart, I had an inherent aversion to this kind of wastefulness.
Having observed Esme sewing on multiple occasions, and thus expecting that she probably could spare a needle and thread, I knocked on the door to her office, behind which I could already hear the motherly vampire humming lightly.
“Come in,” she said, and I slid through the door, finding her at the desk. Blueprints for an intricately decorated dresser were spread out before her.
“I’m sorry to disturb you, Esme. I was wondering if you’d be able to loan me a needle and some thread?”
A warm smile decorated her lips and I felt excitement rush through her veins. I was still getting used to the tight-knit bonds that this coven—this family—shared and thus didn’t rely on her or the others as much as they all did. As much as Alice had started to. Therefore, Esme always exhibited an extraordinary amount of thrill at the most mundane of my requests.
“Of course! Did you rip something during your hunting trip? You know, I could easily stitch that back up with my sewing machine,” she offered, rushing over to one of the cabinets. It only took her a few seconds to find a needle cushion and a box full of threads in different colours and strengths.
“That won’t be necessary, it’s just a loose button,” I declined as politely as possible, but she was disappointed nevertheless. It was a harsh contrast to her previous thrill, and I couldn’t help but wince at the quick change in her composition. Her usually positive and warm emotional climate—like Alices—was very soothing and frequently drew me into her proximity. And it bothered me to be the reason for it to be clouded.
I reacted without a second thought. “But maybe you could help me with that? It’s been a few decades since I held a needle and Alice would probably not appreciate the messy way in which we used to fix our uniforms.”
“I would love to!” Her excitement returned instantly, and I took a deep breath as the wave of positive feelings washed over me.
Once I recovered from the initial overwhelming warmth that passed through my body, I noticed that Esme was looking at me expectedly. It took me a moment to realise why. She waited for me to take off my shirt so that she could start to fix it. This was something I hadn’t considered in my hurry to return her emotions to their previous cheery state.
I could leave and change into something else before handing the button down over to her. But I feared—no, I knew—that she would be disappointed by that course of action, thinking I didn’t trust her. Which was, after all, true, but nothing special. I didn’t truly trust anyone except Alice and Peter. And I would definitely not have left my angel alone with any of the Cullens for one minute if I hadn’t been convinced that she was more than capable of defending herself if the need arose.
But they didn’t have to know that. Maybe Edward did, but if this was the case, he at least acted as if it didn’t bother him. However, it would without a doubt hurt Esme. And no matter what, I didn’t care to inflict pain on such a gentle creature.
Thus, I quickly reached out and took a firm hold of her emotions, before starting to unbutton my shirt. There was an initial spike of excitement which was quickly replaced by shock and alarm when my bare arms and the lower part of my neck were revealed. I still wore my undershirt, but the sleeveless garment didn’t do much to cover the areas where bite marks were most densely layered on my skin. Hers was the natural reaction our kind had, whenever they first laid eyes on me, and it usually didn’t bother me. My scars were a warning that had served me well in the past. But Alice cared about Esme. I didn’t want her to be afraid of me.
I swiftly obliterated her terror and pushed the other emotions she was feeling—mainly concern and sadness, none of which I cared much for—into the forefront. It would have been an easy trick for me to let these feelings fade as well, curbing the excitement and happiness from before. But this was a change that someone sensitive like Esme would notice and I didn’t want her to feel betrayed by how I played with her emotions.
Her gaze burned into my skin, and I quickly handed her the shirt such that she no longer had to look at the monster in front of her and could instead focus on her work. It worked. The pity subsided, all without me having to interfere.
Esme quickly found a suitable needle and thread and retook the seat at the desk. “This will only take a few seconds if you want to wait.”
xxx
I had approached her later that day, as she carried the box back upstairs and asked why she had chosen the button. Esme had just smiled gently and ran her finger over the intricate ornament on top of the box before shifting her loving gaze to me. “Carlisle and I were a little worried about you back then. To us, Alice and you became family within a few hours. But we feared that after everything that happened, you’d never be able to see yourself as part of our family as well.”
I averted my eyes, knowing how much she always hoped for me to be like Edward or Emmett. A true son, a real member of this family. I wasn’t able to fulfil that wish, even today. No matter how much I grew to care, I would never be like them. This family was all they had. Even Alice had been part of it from her very first day, not in person but in spirit through her visions. But I hadn’t. I had a life before this. Memories and experiences that shaped me. And they would always make me an outsider; a son-in-law rather than a true son.
“When you came to me that day, I realised that I didn’t have to worry. You just needed some more time.” Esme smiled and hugged the box close to her chest as she continued her way up the stairs. Even without my talent, it was obvious how precious the collection was to her. And it was nice to see how perfect it fit with her personality.
Maybe this was the case with all of our mementoes.
Edward, who was very musical, held a vast collection of records with at least one piece from every year of his immortal life. At some point, he had transferred most of the old pieces to CD such that it was easier to transport and play them. But I was sure that the originals were still in one of our homes somewhere, even though I didn’t know exactly which one.
Alice, our resident fashionista, stored one item from all the significant fashion trends she lived through in an old suitcase at the back of our closet. From gloves to pearls, a feather boa, shoes, hairpieces and— of course—her wedding dress, the suitcase contained everything I could imagine and probably even more.
For a few years, I had suspected that Rosalie would retain a collection similar to Alice’s, since fashion was one of her passions as well. But after getting to know her better, it quickly became obvious why she didn’t and probably never would. She didn’t like to be reminded of her inhuman lifespan.
That Emmett didn’t have the desire to amass mementoes as well, didn’t surprise me. He was after all the poster boy for ‘living in the moment’. He simply had no desire to dwell in the past. The only thing I could imagine him collecting were the hides of bears that put up an especially entertaining fight, though, at the same time, I doubted that Esme would take kindly to him bringing home the bloodless cadavers of his prey.
My own collection was the smallest of them all. A single, leather-bound notebook filled with dates and places. Alice had gifted it to me when I started researching my own past, trying to make sense of everything that happened between January 4, 1863, and October 28, 1948—a task that had presented itself to be quite challenging since time had no meaning to me back then. Except for maybe knowing when the individual newborns reached their one-year mark.
I didn’t have to write down and collect the dates, but I liked to. Marking the dates and places of significant events helped me orient whenever I decided to delve back into a certain period of my past.
The first few pages of the book covered several decades. It was only after Alice found me that the gaps between the entries became smaller. And they had become significantly shorter again when Bella entered our lives. Who would have thought that a single human could cause so much turmoil?
There had been a rather big gap between the last two dates—at least if it was held to the standards of the new ‘Bella’-era.
December 14, 2006 - Forks, WA. The day our family lost their future. The day Alice and I left, not sure if we would ever be able to return. Or if there would be something left to return to.
December 31, 2006 - Forks, WA. The day our family survived the Volturi, regained their future and became whole again.
xxx
I put my pen aside and listened. The house was quiet, most of us had left. Everyone was cherishing the feeling of having a future again in their own way.
Edward and Bella had taken Renesmee home, where, for the first time in weeks, they could watch their daughter sleep without fearing that she would be taken from them. Emmett and Rosalie had left to celebrate the victory in their own way, somewhere far from Edward’s exceptional mental ears and my emotional reach. And Alice was downstairs in the living room, spending time with Esme and Carlisle, catching them up on our travels.
I had sat with them for a few minutes, soaking in the soothing emotional climate but eventually decided that I’d rather spend some time alone. Shuffling through the notebook reminded me of why it had been worth the risk. Why this family was worth fighting for. And why we would persevere, no matter what fate threw in our way next.
I smiled slightly as the book naturally parted to reveal the page, I had spent the most time looking at. The third date had faded to a light blue hue from the many hundred times I had run my finger over it in remembrance.
October 28, 1948 – Philadelphia, PA.

more stream of thought headcanons! this time completely random as they come to me
Zapp has a necklace he wears all the time. It's a simple chain with a loop at the end. This loop is a petite wedding band made from an old coin. It was his great-great grandmother's wedding band. If he tried to put it on, it would barely fit on his pinkie.
Steven used to be terrified to drive after one of the family dogs got hit by a car right next to him. It took him years to get over the fear enough to get behind the wheel.
K.K and her sons play pokemon together. They have a tradition of always starting the newest games together and taking the first steps at the same time. It's fairly new to Cain, but she and Mark have been doing it for a long time.
(Pokemon V1) Other than Emolga, K.K also has a Cubone. The poor little one's cries were too much for her heart.
Leo gets tired earlier in the summer and later in the winter.
Klaus is incredibly picky about the texture of his blanket. He just can't sleep if the texture is wrong.
Part of Zapp really does respect both Raju and Zed, but he would never let them know that. He hates what he went through more than he respects his old master.
If he isn't doing any combat or anything that increases his breathing, Zed's pods can last 7 hours before needing fresh water cycled into them.
Zapp hates when his clothes have seams right on his spine. It tingles and feels awful.
Chain tries to clean her apartment every other Saturday. Sometimes her schedule gets thrown off by missions.
Chain is not sure if she's straight or bi or something else. She knows she has a crush on Steven, and also knows she would like to use a girlfriend's boobs as a pillow.
Lucky likes watching tiny blacksmithing.
Zed would love if his partner were to decorate his tank with him.
There is a doodle on one of the fridges in the office depicting three alien-like creatures. This doodle was done by Cain when he was two years old, and despite being done in dry erase, it is not coming off at this point.
Steven would adore having matching tattoos with his partner. Zapp would too, though he wouldn't think of it until they've been together for a very long time.
Klaus gets extremely flustered if Gilbert takes care of the bedding after saucy activities.
(Monster AU) Steven worries that he is too cold for cuddles.
(Monster AU) The Werewolf bureau are a group of werebeast/fae hybrids. They all have one werebeast parent and a different type of fae as the other. Chain's fae parent, for example, is a banshee.
Raju only learned to "speak huma" shortly before taking on Zapp as an apprentice. He does not fully realize that there are different languages.
(Pokemon V1) Raju actually does pay attention to what pokemon follow him. He gives the Talonflame pets and treats quite often.
(Pokemon V2) Klaus adopted a Deino, it still sometimes bites his hand. He also has several grass types that like to stay with his plants.
Steven likes laying across the sofa while cuddling his partner and watching movies.
In a relationship, Raju loves cuddles. He is very protective and touchy, at least behind closed doors. He also strikes me as the type to not mind polyamory at all, of any sort.
I got Raju on the brain, he specifically angles his head most of the time so people only see the skull he wears. He does not like even the chance of someone seeing more of his face than he allows.
Fusion go brrrrr: Zapp would love to fuse with his partner, especially if they could "hear" all the things he can't say to them out loud.
(Monster AU) Zapp's satyr blood comes from his grandfather on his mother's side. He has no idea what is father is, but his mother is a water nymph.
Speaking of Zapp's father, he never wanted kids so he left when Zapp's mother ended up pregnant. He looks a lot like Zapp does, though still would want absolutely nothing to do with him. He just walked out on her and forgot about her.
Zed prefers freshwater. He can swim in brackish or salt water, but not for long periods. The salt gets absorbed into his body extremely quickly and could be deadly if he stays for too long.
Zed's scales are extremely tiny and interlock very well. It's hard to actually feel the edges of them while running your hand over his body, only certain directions in certain spots work.
Zed is slightly transparent and even more slightly bioluminescent. The latter is really only noticeable in extremely dark situations, which the lights of HSL don't lend well to. He remembers the Count sometimes turning out all the lights and closing the curtains just to enjoy how his body glows.
Steven not having a dog feels very weird to him. His family has always had a dog. He has always had a dog. And now he doesn't and he just feels like something is missing... but he'd hate to get s dog just to leave it locked inside alone for so long when he's at work.
He does visit shelters in the city quite often though. He plays with the dogs there and... maybe one day he'll adopt one or two.
Leo genuinely prefers being called Leo but accepts his full name from Klaus because of how Klaus is so used to bring formal with people.
Even before the All Seeing Eyes, Leo was great at picking out patterns in the terrain of a video game. He could always find the hidden chests.
Klaus and his siblings all went to a very prestigious private school.
Assuming the one shot is canon, Klaus hates seeing the "tattoo" in the mirror. Sometimes he thinks he can see it moving.
Zed would cry at his wedding to his s/o

My first like semi otp was from this book that I read like 6 years ago. No one's ever heard of this book, seriously, no one, it's called caged graves. Anyways, I loved it, it took place in like the late 1800s and it was and arranged marriage. But I loved the guy in the ship. He was the only boy in his family. His sisters names were Hattie and Callie and they were helping his fiance get ready for the wedding. They were cute.
Umm, and then I started really getting into descendants. Huma of course was the reason for this. I started reading the books and fanfic. Fell in love with Harry's sibling dynamic. I realized when the fandom writes fanfic they call Harry's sisters Hattie and Callie...
I am only just now making this realization and it's weird to me because I was obsessed with that book. I guess I am drawn to men with sisters named Hattie and Callie.

Where do you post your fanfiction and is it under the same name?
If you're asking in regards to The Christmas Fic™, that'll be on ao3 whenever it's finished. I use nearly the same name as on here, but with an underscore instead of a dash. Here's the link if you're interested, there's only a oneshot up for now but it's about my beloved Huma so. I also have two more oneshots/mini fics/I'm not entirely sure what they'll end up being that I plan to finish after the Christmas thing. One about Carlos meeting his cousins Ivy and Diego for the first time and one about how all of the Madrigals got their gifts in Encanto. Eventually I plan to do a rewrite of Ben and Mal's wedding as well as something for Mal's bachelorette party, but I haven't started those yet so don't expect them any time soon.
I also have other Descendants works on Quotev, under the name QueenofSparkles. They're not the best but two of them are actually finished so if you want to read them, I'd encourage you to start with them! And here's a link to all of those.
