ok so for our friends trying to keep up from liveblogs (love you to death) here's an off the cuff summary of the main points of today's mini event:

the timer ended, the members were instructed to return to the timer dungeon

the dungeon had reset and the mobs (etc.) respawned so the squad cleared it

at the bottom the buttons had been removed from the doors to the timer room. inside, the code entity waited on the stage

the code dropped a book for them and vanished

the book instructed two teams to go to two sets of coordinates, near spawn; the group split into teams of 6 and went to them

(the frosted glass to my knowledge is unchanged)

the coordinates were for identical underground rooms below a trapdoor and down a ladder; not federation quartz

in the rooms there was a redstone puzzle, which, once completing, started a create mod machine that manufactured train tracks

QSMP in the chat said "the train is leaving" so the members hustled for the train station at spawn

the train was gone

the members followed the tracks. at the end, the nether portals were active

the few fastest members were able to get through and found the train in the nether, however they were kicked out and the nether portal broken.

I played 999 recently at @xivu-arath's recommendation, and I had so much fun that (inspired by that one polygon video) I illustrated my liveblog about it!

If you haven't played 999 and you are even a little bit intrigued by a puzzle/mystery visual novel with multiple timelines that all guide you towards wild plot twists...probably don't read the text! 999 is the kind of story that is best experienced with no knowledge besides the basic premise.

so to get through door 7 with snake missing, i could either send a group with sum 16 (junpei, ace, clover, and june) or with sum 25 (clover, june, seven, and lotus), but it doesn't matter because the remainder always have root 9 and can't get through doors 3 or 8! wild!

Storm: yeah the numbers and which doors end up barred to you is so cleverly deliberate

Cormorant: I had a long day of sitting though presentations and so I entertained myself by calculating digital roots

I discovered that adding 9 or any multiple of 9 to a number has no effect on the digital root, which is awfully interesting bc I got to the part where snake gets killed. Assuming door 3 was opened with 12 and not 21, the options are 7+3 (motive?), 6+4 (they’d both have to be REALLY good actors), or 9+1. And if bracelets work without a body attached, and if ace picked it up in door 5…

That would be a really useful tool to get around the 3-person minimum without altering the digital root

I’m also very intrigued by the theory that zero is also in the game but I don’t know what to do with that yet

i peeked at a guide and apparently i found the ending adjacent to the true ending(?) first, oh well. time to see the others!

Cormorant: hmm I’ve got soft spots for santa and lotus maybe just because they were in the first group I went with. I like that the game makes a point of showing that lotus is quick with the math/technical knowledge. I warmed up to clover and seven more than I expected to! I have no evidence to mistrust ace….but I don’t trust him

and regarding the true ending requirements, it's also funny that santa's like "i hate this bookmark! get it out of my sight!" and this is a huge help in junpei befriending the girl who's otherwise about to snap

puzzling over who could have done all those murders, especially in the sub ending...or did everyone get killed? clover thinks that snake's death was faked. or did snake do all the murders, since he was the only one unaccounted for?...and then i remember what kind of game i'm playing. can't discount the ice mummy as a suspect.

i can't figure out the connection between events! why did the last games have the veneer of a science experiment, while this one has no context given? why was it all kids last time, and a random mix of ages this time, with some repeat subjects?

Episode 51 - High-Temperature Trap (part 2)

aka "failing the "try not to mention Dofus Donjons and Wakfu Raiders" challenge", the liveblog.

The thing about Atcham, is that he thinks Kerubim is fucking stupid. Fake glasses... Wig... The fuckingdf sfdgjsfh the fur comments...

And he is ABSOLUTELY right. He knows him well enough to know that this stupid ass disguise is all he needs.

"If I stalked you... I didn't stalked you because I did. No I didn't. <3"

Kerubim thinking Atcham is OLDER than him, and Atcham using his hairlessness to make others overestimate his age, will never get less funny to me.

Keke, this old, ancient gentleman, is anywhere from five minutes to a year younger than you. You were fed upon the same tit. Chances are, if you're twins like Eleley and Flopin, you were beating his ass in the womb war.

If he is old, then you should be in a fucking museum.

This is an aside, but them being twins, like Eleley and Flopin, is a very likely thing no matter how you look at it.

Above is lore from the discontinued game Wakfu Raiders, — implying that Ecaflip dumps the women who give birth to his demigods after the first kid.

This would fit with all the demigods, except for Atcham and Kerubim, having different surnames, — those would be their mothers', and it would mean that Mom Crepin had twins.

Wakfu Raders isn't the most reliable source for canon info and is no longer playable, so, to be completely fair, let's look at another source of info that might be useful:

The other, conflicting source of Ecaflip lore, — is the unreleased/scrapped game "Dofus Donjons", — and as far as I am aware, the lore it includes, is that 99% of demigods, including Ush, Atcham and Kerubim, were born to a single ecaflip priestess named Varvara, who was pretty much the CEO of giving birth to Ecaflip's 22 sons.

(God. If Atcham could have met her, Pangaea would reform. It makes me sad he never had a figure in his life who looked like him, and was proud of it, — it's depressing that he got bullied into thinking there's something wrong with him, that he spent his whole life hating himself! Can we take this moment to be fucking sad about Atcham? Jesus Christ.)

If we consider the Dofus Donjons more canon than Wakfu Raiders, — and as far as I know, that is the case at Ankama, it is more canon, (Even the line choice in the ova, "previous litter", points towards this) Kerubim and Atcham being twins and growing up together still makes the most sense.

Kerubim and Atcham still share a surname, still went to the same orphanage (because, as a child Bashi knew Atcham, according to The Wheel Of Destiny #8) and lost the same family, before having, like, a life-long very-personal beef over whatever the fuck happened between them.

Which means that they when got adopted into the Crepin family together, it was as a package deal, — probably due to being twins.

Which would be cute, had their life not been so depressing.

Also, here's an insane little thought:

...Yes, it's obvious why Kerubim was uncomfortable in the OVAs, during Eva's monologue: He knows what he put Joris through when he died, (he failed at protecting him, he robbed him of his childhood, and he ruined Joris's head. he failed miserably, and will never be able to fix it.) and he knows, that, personally, all he wants to do is just stay at home with Joris too.

But listeeen, what if that's not all, — what if thinking about a pair of twin demigods losing a parent, even without the context of being a father, also painful? What if this scenario is like a two-in-one combo of the worst things that had happened in his life? Wouldn't that be awesome?

(Also, yeah, Ecaflips keep their memories after death, or else he wouldn't be saying this 100+ years after dying in the movie. I just felt like mentioning that, lest I came off as fucking insane during the last paragraph.)

Anyway, huge discussion over, lets get back to the episode:

Atcham knows which buttons to press to make Kerubim and Indie go at each other's throats again. Both as his brother, and as someone who's spent decades stalking him.

Atcham knows Keke well enough to use his need to affirm his self-worth, for murderous purposes.

Ok, so, I've never watched any of the qsmp streams, but I read your rambling about it and read your one shots abt it, and uh do you have any advice on how to get into watching the streams? Like where do I start? How to catch up on missed lore? Stuff like that

well there are a lot of different POVs you can choose to catch up on and which one(s) you choose will definitely affect your understanding of what's going on. if you want to just catch up on the primary major story beats overall (federation lore, main egg lore) this channel on youtube has made 3 videos so far summarizing the lore as it goes on. I haven't watched these videos myself so I can't say how accurate they are or if they leave anything important out, but I've heard positive things!

now if you wanna catch up on more individual lore/character dynamics and all that then you're facing a bit more of a challenge. I believe quackity has most of his qsmp vods uploaded on his vod channel so you can definitely check those out for his story stuff. if you wanna understand my fics better wilbur has the smallest number of qsmp vods out of the cc's at least somewhat tied into the storyline so it shouldn't be too hard to catch up on his stuff. his vod from day 1 of the qsmp has one of the funniest moments from any wilbur stream ever (yes I am referring to that moment he was talking to max) but I don't think you need to watch a ton from any of the day 1 POV's after the first hour or so.

while phil is the pov I watch the most for qsmp, he's definitely less involved in the plot. but unlike what I keep seeing some people on twt and tumblr say, he DOES participate in the rp and does care about the lore. he just doesn't go out of his way to get super involved in it and likes making 4th wall breaking jokes. but yeah if you're looking for more lore based stuff, phil might not be a great pov to watch as your primary.

now bad is the english speaking cc most involved in the heavy federation lore stuff, so his vods are definitely good to check out if you're looking for an english speaking cc to watch. jaiden's also definitely tied into it and has her own very interesting plotline going on atm involving the federation, but she doesn't stream as often so there are a few more gaps with her compared to bad who's been daily streaming for months now.

now for the cc's who don't primarily speak english, it's definitely a bit more of a challenge to watch those POVs if you don't speak the cc's language, but when many cc's are in a group they'll usually switch to english since that's the most common language on the server. also there's the translator that most of them have up on their screen, but it's not super accurate and a lot of the time cc's forget to switch it between languages so I don't rely on it much. for lore stuff, cellbit is a great choice because he's been heavily involved in investigating the federation and solving puzzles and all that since he first got on the server. from the french side, baghera jumped into lore stuff pretty quickly too so I highly recommend her pov as well

again I don't know how detailed/what the summary videos do and don't include but if you see clips from certain streams on that summary video that look interesting, I definitely recommend going to the vod itself and watching at least a bit of it. the group dynamic between all the players on the island is so delightful to watch. so many great friendships have formed bc of this server and it's so much fun to watch them grow in real time.

more than anything though when you're trying to catch up, go through the tumblr tag! follow people who liveblog a lot! follow the updates accounts on twitter! I actually don't catch many streams, but I'm usually pretty up to date on the big plot stuff happening on the server at all times just from what I see on my dash. read posts and check out the tags to absorb info via dash osmosis. that's how I caught up on dsmp when I first got into it back in january 2021 lol

it's really interesting that you say that vodwatching is harder for you to summarize/liveblog cause i find it so much easier :o at least when i've been working through phil's blogs for the wiki. i think it's cause i already know where the story is headed that I have a clearer idea of what I'm looking out for (well and also, qphil isn't steeped in quite as much federation/enigma/etc, so i do think you've got much more complex things going on than me)

that being said ur killing it on the cellbit wiki stuff :] really glad you're in on this project too!

i wrote like a few paragraphs of cellbit's wiki page yesterday and it took me. five hours? that's with irl stuff getting in the way and i am VERY particular about how i cite and how to summarize so things aren't super crowded (since that can go in the day-by-day history instead) but like i have to reference SO many vods to talk about stuff and because of how long he streams, all the stuff he's involved in, every investigation he does, and especially just how busy his early days were (and the sprint really didn't stop until the eggs disappeared) it means there is SO much content to cover so i end up hopping across so many different vods to grab details, and i'm also trying to vodwatch as like. a fun activity for myself, so i don't want to burn myself out.

i also take very quick notes and can note down timestamps far easier live than when i'm rewatching a vod and trying to find a specific moment, because then i'm having to scrub through and try to figure out what moments are important and what are just him fucking around in a google doc. like i cannot stress enough cellbit used to stream qsmp for at least 4 hours 5 days a week that's SO much streams to trawl through (best wishes to bbh wiki folks, although at least he's not doing a ton of detailed investigation). and it's a lot of catching up, because i didn't use to keep detailed notes and so now i have to find things that i only half-remember (picture me sprawled over my desk with my head in my hands, that's me considering whether it's worth it to search twitter for an update tweet to cross reference for a timestamp)

cellbit has so much content honestly a huge part of the work is the condensing it element, wherein deciding what is important enough to go on the regular history vs. what is too detailed takes quite a while. i have two separate google docs for his lore, one that's personal and one that's specifically for the wiki, and i spend ages just going through and making sure things aren't me going on and on about something that isn't necessary for a brief summary. and i want things to be easy to understand and possibly catch up on for folks who missed a lot of his earlier stuff, which means explaining it well but not with like. essays and essays about his character progression, and keeping it as factual as possible-- once again, meaning a lot of vod citations.

also i think a lot of folks don't realize how much cellbit's investigations tie in with larger server lore-- he's debunked a bunch of theories about the federation and found out SO much info about them and the eggs and things like that, and a lot of that info gets lost over time. so documenting everything he's found means documenting quite a bit of overall server lore with sources. i'm like very lucky that i have a pretty good memory, especially for mysteries, so i know that i do need to find that stuff, even if i don't remember exactly when it was.

anyway back to your original point yeah i just find it leagues easier when i'm not having to go back and find a specific moment in a 9 hour vod and instead i can just have a google doc open jotting down everything important, and then later on all that info is just there for me to pull from. it makes the writing element easier along with everything else

I just need you to know that your artwork of Law combined with Calypso's ZoLaw fics/AUs have send me down a wonderful rabbit hole and maybe kinda turned me into a ZoLaw shipper. Definitely a Law fan. Seriously you two are AMAZING and so creative and all of your work is beautiful

First of all, this is such a sweet message! I love Law as a character which is probably quite obvious from how much I draw him. He has been haunting my mind for a long time now and if I can pass on some of these feelings to others, then that's awesome.

And I am doubly glad that you followed @calysto1395 and me into the ZoLaw rabbit hole!

Fun story about that: Calysto started catching up to the manga this summer (she was only up to Water 7 before from watching the anime when it aired a long time ago). She liveblogged her read-through and I lived vicariously through her reading plot beats for the first time. Her favorite character has always been Zoro, and mine, as stated above, is Law.

I tried REALLY hard to not be too giddy for Law to appear in her read-through, to not gush about him and set up false expectations that might be disappointed in the long run. To my relief, she also ended up liking him and in a true moment of genius she decided that if Zoro is her fave and Law is mine ... what better than to mash the two together!

I had up to this point not thought about this pairing besides ''oh that's neat'' in passing, but very quickly we both realized that we fell head-first into a new ship that will keep us busy for the foreseeable future.

I am very grateful to have such a good friend like her, who saw me gushing over a thing and decided to play in my space and then invited me to read the stories she came up with. It's been a real blast!

So I (24, nonbinary) have been casually seeing this guy (38) that I've know for quite some time; I lost my virginity to him and it was fun and easy and honestly things had been great.

And then I was a little bit too high and confessed that I love him and he was super sweet in the moment and just held me and told me he's not comfortable saying the same because he's not sure

That was a couple weeks ago, the last time I spent the weekend. A few days ago I asked if he wanted to hang out again soon, but he didn't respond until today. He had a lot going on and also had to put his thoughts in coherent order, which I can respect. But reading his texts this morning has fucked up my whole day.

He's been really gentle in trying to let me down easy, I know he's still fucked up over his last relationship, and he's got two kids (both under 16) to think about; not to mention that I know he's worried about the age gap (he mentioned that I have so many possibilities ahead of me and I wanted to throw my phone).

I've got issues so I'm taking it really hard. Like this is definitely something I expected and yet I'm still super hurt. I don't really have anyone I'm comfortable talking about this with, and I'm sorry for dumping it all on you but I saw your little sleepover post and I could honestly use a hug and some positive vibes right now.

Mkay so I am 24 also (hi) some form of not cis (hi) and do have a crush on someone a fair bit older than me (33, not 38 though).

I love the idea of being with older men. The last guy I was seeing was 2 years older than me so like 26 now. Loved it. Love when older guys are interested in me. He was also going through a divorce and his son had just been born. It was a lot. I liveblogged the whole thing on here.

Dating older men comes with issues like that. And I have bpd so as soon as I FP someone yeah I’m instantly in love with them.

Dating older men can be hard when they say things about your future and shit like that- and I GET it, like it IS good advice even if you don’t want to hear it. I mean, when WE were under 16 how many people gave US good advice we didn’t want to hear at the time.

It sucks when you fuck up a good thing you had by confessing that you’re in love with someone who is not mutually in love with you. It reeeeally fucking sucks. Because either you hold that inside of you and you push it down and push it down and push it down, or you finally release it, let it go, and it fucks everything up.

There is no reason for you not to be hurt/upset about it even if you did expect it. Grieve. Let yourself grieve. Come into my inbox and dump all of this on me. Let people around you help you heal. Let me send you some love. I am holding your hand. I am telling you to some degree I have been there. To some degree I am there. And I know it gets better. Some day you’ll be like me, and you’ll be driving to work, and you’ll put on a new Fall Out Boy album that just came out, and you’ll cry, and you’ll realize through all the bad things, through all the shit and the hurt, this is why you stayed alive. The healing process that I’m going through is beautiful. Sure, there is a lot of stress. I’m failing the last class I need to graduate. My job stress is through the roof. I’m chronically ill. But outside of that I truly am continuing to live my best life every day.

I don’t know if you plan to try and keep on seeing him casually or if this really is the end for you. Either way this is just a bump in the road. 38 is so young too. We’re going to be okay. It’s a bad day. It’s gonna be a bad week. It might even be a bad month. Hell it might even be a bad year. But goddamn it if they don’t mean it when they say it’s not a bad life. i think my favourite scene outside of the liz, thiago, joui scene in the last episode, was the bit after they killed the big slug in the asylum. idk the pacing of it was just really cool to me, the drawing in the sludge and losing sanity without realizing. for me it set up this feeling of "you cant trust anything you dont know for certain about" for the entire rest of osnf.

that fucking house btw. i wanted them to leave that house the moment they got gregorio out of that room. i hate that house. i would like for that house to explode.

We're finally back at Prison Island and we literally walked past the fight that made her ragequit last week. The deinos don't attack us on sight anymore and the rest of the enemies won't spawn if they aren't fought so we just. walked past.

...and we just got the second bolt element so we are once again not fighting Dickson. This is like the third time we've walked away from the main story in the endgame, it's honestly kind of funny at this point

Upon seeing Demon King Dragonia for the first time: "OH. MY. GOD." "Ok but can you imagine like canonically...like people talk about the giants sometimes but no one talks about the dragons. And then finding out they're real??"

So I thought we were mostly keeping up with the collectopaedia, but we're looking at it again and we're missing items in Colony 6, the Ether Mine, Makna Forest, Valak Mountain, two from Galahad Fortress, and the Fallen Arm. What...what happened?!

My roommate is very disappointed that we don't really get any lore about the dragons and honestly, I agree with her. They're so cool and there's only three of them and we don't know anything about them except that they were likely important to the Giants because of their presence in the decor of Prison Island

The whole 'transferring consciousness' thing also reeks of the Aura Transfer machines used on the Maidens, but I always assumed that was Pietro's invention so he could give life to Penny. Maybe Watts stole or twisted the concept for his own use.

This blog is mostly a mishmash of fandom stuff, art stuff, some political stuff, and cute animals. I don't try to stick to any one theme in particular. Theoretically, I'm a writeblr blog, and I'm open to tag games or answering questions about my WIPs, but I'm very inactive as a writeblr because of work. My queue spits out 30 posts a day and is generally loaded for at least 10 to 15 days out, and I also periodically reblog random shit on the spot.

My WIPs:

#wip: threshold: Portal fantasy of mixed/indeterminate subgenre, wherein a bunch of young adults from the regular world get lured through a portal and stranded, and need to be guided back home. Complications occur. (Smells a bit like Fallen London.)

#wip: brothers: Short story exploring what it means to find your own identity when you've only ever been part of a package deal before.

#wip: eigengrau: Vaguely European low(-ish) fantasy dealing with gods and fae being fickle, zombies, cults, and a zombie cult.

#wip: ties that bind: Honestly I don't even fucking know. I've started it over twice and haven't liked it either time. It's vaguely about people finally getting to tell their own story after the world has silenced them and made up a story for them, but the story itself keeps falling to shit.

#series: rags 'n' addy: It's an oddball series of one shots primarily following the characters Ragnarok and Adam. Sort of horror, sort of fantasy, sort of rustic sci-fi. Happy to accept one shot prompts if you want to give one.

Ep 4: Taissa

Hello! This is about up to Episode 4 of Yellowjackets, and ONLY episode 4 of Yellowjackets. I have not seen beyond the fourth episode, at all, and know NOTHING about this show. Please do not spoil it for me.  Things that are spoilery in nature, for me, include: saying things like  “Just wait!!” confirming or denying anything I put forward, outside information about the cast interviews or creator statements, leading questions like “Do you think “blank moment” means anything?” etc. Remember  that Y’ALL HAVE SEEN THE SHOW AND I HAVE NOT. This informs the way you  talk about things relating to the show. Just be really careful is all  I’m asking. Also: If there is LITERALLY any stance I  could take on this show or character that would make you upset, please  just fucking block the tag

Taissa’s story in this one is also fairly straightforward--This episode was largely about Nat, if we’re all dwelling in a space of honesty here. 

So much of Taissa’s story, I think, is about domestication. Her wife, Simone, tells her to “be herself” but as we all know that is terrible fucking advice because Tai is a predaotr, she is a wild thing, she is not a domesticated dog like the rest of them. Even when we first see her at the party, our focus is on her uneven, minute wobble on too-tall heels, as if the platform they have placed her upon might crumble at any moment. She is in this world but not of it. 

One fo the things I really really love about Tai, and one of the things that makes me feel uncomfortable, sometimes, and allied with her, and identified by her, is something that I think really comes out in this episode. People have a vision of optimism, of dedication to community, as being a very Usagi Tsukino-type thing. Very bubbly and kind and always loving and forgiving, but Taissa is not that. She is optimistic because she KNOWS the world can be better, she knows that we can get through all this, but she also knows that someone will have to pursue the hunt. Someone will have to be ruthless, and hard, and sometimes difficult and hard to live with. Optimism means knowing the world can be better, even if you are the one who has to drag it toward betterment. 

Taissa is fucking INTENSE. “Why don’t people like you?” Sammy asks her, and oh I fucking understand why people don’t like her in the same way I understand why people don’t like me. 

To that, I fucking adore that she loses her shit, completely blows her chance and to at least some extent, throws away her future, because the things Tai chooses to guard and keep, the promises she’s made to others but especially to herself, are non-negotiable. Now, would I have told Tai to come up with a lie that sounds like a revelation, to learn to tear up a little bit, or some shit? Sure. But do I also love watching her come unglued when she’s told to watch her fucking tone, like she’s a goddamn child and this fucking rich white lady can keep her as a pet? Yeah, we love it! 

I have no idea what the hell I think is going on with Sammy. His watchfulness, it all ties back to the eyes, to Tai’s memories of the man with no eyes and the way he steals…I don’t know. I am constantly thinking a million things at once at everything suyrrounding what’s going on with the man with the eyes, and SEEING and being WATCHED, and how all that comes back to Taissa, and I haven’t figured out a good through line on where I think that’s going yet. I’m collecting little baubles about it and I feel like eventually it’ll all come together for me.
