Alright here’s my unwarranted opinion on post-timeskip designs.

(Not including the fact that they just made everyone’s skin tones lighter for no reason cause that’s complete bullshit but we’re gonna talk about their other design features).

Luffy: I love it. Don’t get me wrong I love his stupid vest + flip-flop combo in pre-timeskip but his fluffy shirt and sash are just so him without taking away all his silliness (also adding the yellow sash ties way better to the ASL theme because the yellow in the hat is more tied to Roger/Shanks while the sash is purely related to him and his brothers with is great!)

Zoro: no notes. I love how Oda took one his eyes and refused to explain. I love what that means for Zoro’s character. He doesn’t think about his injuries in that way, he just moves forward. Other than that tho, the boots? The coat? The sash? (Every gets a sash now-a-days) I love that he kept his haramaki because it looks so comfy!

Nami: ….I feel like they could have done a bit more…Don’t get me wrong I love the long hair but her outfits just kinda became bikini top + jeans which not only look uncomfortable but isn’t half as stylish as Oda thinks it is.

Usopp: My guy leveled up. Abs, pants, no-shirt, little facial hair, Usopp’s a fucking man now guys and I’ve got respect for him. Also love his pop greens I just wish he also used other chemical combinations like he did pre-timeskip.

Sanji: they’d tried to make him a big strong man like Zoro, but I don’t think that was ever the appeal of him. He’s meant to be lean so buffing him up was just kinda stupid. Got rid of his pants chain and all his silly undershirt colors.

Chopper: Controversial opinion! I don’t mind his post-timeskip design. He looks cute! I don’t like that they replaced the hat that his dad gave him (I feel like we never talk about that! He has a different hat now! How do you get a new ‘dead dad’ hat?!?) Now he’s got a little stripped shirt, and his heavy point looks a lot better. I do not like how they lean on Kung-fo point so heavily when he has so many other forms for fighting (horn point is my favorite).

Robin: What. Why did they- HER HAT?!? HER BANGS?!?? What the fuck happened in the revolutionary army to do this to my favorite women?!? Give her back her hat, give her back her bangs or I swear to god.

Franky: Also controversial opinion!(?) I don’t hate his bigger body. I wished we got more of his pre-timeksip form because I love his greasy dad look but post-timeskip does a lot for giving Franky a 2 year long power-up in a way that he would. UPGRADES PEOPLE, UPGRADES!

Brook: I love it. His been living in star-dome being flamboyant as all hell and so of course he comes back with a diva-boa, some $10 star glasses, a plastic crown, and strange old man pants. I love formal peepaw but I also love weird party peepaw. I also think the guitar was a good way to make him seem big and aggressive while the violin has the silent, deadly elegance.

All and all I think a lot of us just missed the pre-timeskip style which is fair! I love how pretty the animation gets in Wano but there was bit of an awkward faze where the studio was still trying to figure out how silly vs how pretty they wanted everything to look.

Sex scenes don't bother me as much as kiss scenes. When the characters are making out in a way that indicates it will lead to sex, I'd scream at the screen "Just take off your pants and start grinding under the covers already!" because I cannot watch them mash their mouths together for another second.

That being said, I'm not a huge fan of sex scenes because firstly—I can't take the movements seriously, and if there's sound effects, there's also a high chance of me laughing. Secondly, the squishiness of the human body is another thing I can't take seriously. When I first watched the Only Friends trailer, and I saw that scene where Sand thumbs Ray's tattoo, I thought it was a butt tattoo because of the way the skin bounced in slow-motion, but no, it's actually a hip tattoo; the human skin is just that springy on every part of the body. While everyone was going crazy because of the tattoo-touch, I'm laughing because the bounce was so pronounced.

Basically, kiss scenes ick me out while sex scenes are comedy.

also interesting point you bring up about the human body being so squishy. i never really thought about it but yeah. human bodies are just so weird?????? actually, only the other week i was talking with another friend (who's likely also ace-spec) about just how humans (and tbh even animals) will just have things dangling from them?? whether it be genitalia or boobs or whatever. like, those body parts are just... hanging there?? and technically even your arms but at least you can control those. meanwhile my boobs will just bounce depening on what movements i make and i can't control them and they're just hanging from my chest while i go about my life. like, why?? i want dog boobs where you mostly have just the nipples and they only really get big when i have an actual child to feed (i know human breasts also swell when they fill with milk during a pregnancy, but why do i have to have two balls of meat hanging from my chest even when i'm not pregnant?? who thought of this design??). coming back to your point of the human body being so squishy and actually yeah, i'm realizing now that i can't take it seriously when people talk about how hot boobs are precicely because boobs are so squishy and also so wobbly and just. how is this not funny to people? dkdfjdjfk

and lmao i remember everyone going crazy over the tattoo!!!!! i realized right away that it's on the hip but maybe that was bc i remembered the placement of it from the eclipse. which is also why that scene didn't make me laugh, i was actually too busy trying to read what it said bc in the eclipse we never got to see that tattoo up close enough in order to be able to read it. so while everyone was freaking out i was just sitting in my corner like "omg so the tattoo says 'beautiful'???" i'd been wondering about it for a year ever since the eclipse, so i was just excited to finally know what it says bc i'm a nosy ass bitch lmao

anyway, i love hearing about your experiences. it's so fascinating how varied the ace experience can be and how specific things affect everyone differently. and i think it's also cool to hear what things other ace people pick up/focus on while the allosexuals are busy drooling over whatever is happening on screen dkjkdkjg

the kissing... idk, i can't tell you why it doesn't actually bother me that much or why i might even enjoy it. although i do have to say, the act of kissing does look extremely weird. sometimes (usually during longer kiss/make-out scenes) i'll be sitting there and suddenly it'll hit me that "actually kissing looks SO strange, whose idea was it for kissing to be a thing??"

what is Eclipse's and what is caused by the decay?

Do they really use the hat? or it couldn't be stored away because they're broken? It doesn't go away when Sun's in control either (but the stars fade, maybe Eclipse has the hat with another design?)

Moon and Eclipse have stars and stripes on the pants, but when you look with the mask on the stars disappear. Should Eclipse have a gradient from stars to stripes? or a whole different thing that we couldn't see because they're broken?

I really, really wish we could see what the whole faceplate should look like. We got just half and it looks like it keeps Sun's yellow and not Moon's white. Its very interesting because that side is also the side with the yellow arm. Would the other side keep Moon's deep blue?

Speaking of, theres no gradient going up the yellow arm. Its a solid yellow color like Sun. But, is this because that's how Eclipse is, or is their color change mechanism broken? They were rebooted, but it did not reboot the clothes. Do the clothes need a different type of reboot? Is the body so damaged that the AIs lost control over some of it?

The only thing I'm sure is 100% Eclipse's is the glowing arms and different eyes. When first seeing Moon he doesn't have the yellow eye. We do see it later, when Sun is trying to use the body at the same time. And none of them have glowing arms, we dont see them until after the reboot so is safe to say they belong to Eclipse. (tho now i wonder why? why cant Sun and Moon glow?)

I’m bored, so here’s my opinion on pokemon based on my favorite animals.

Rockruff/Lycanroc:

Wolves are my favorite animals, and I had been WAITING for them to make a pokemon based on one. Rockruff is adorable. I’m not entirely sure about the decision to make them rock type, but I’m not opposed to it. The tail makes it look a bit more like a dog than a wolf but meh. Lycanroc is def an improvement, and I like the different forms, especially the decision to make the midnight form based on a werewolf (one of the few standing-up evolutions I’m perfectly fine with.) HOWEVER, there’s not enough of a difference between the midday and dusk form to make it seem... worth the trouble? And I really wish the evolutions had been dual-type in some way. Maybe even a different type for each form? Dark or even fairy for midnight, maybe normal for midday, and... ice for dusk? (Since many wolves live in places that, at the very least, snow in the winter.)

On the whole though, a good pokemon. 8/10

Buizel/Floatzel:

Otters are def on my top 5 list of fav animals, and these 2 are pretty good interpretations of that. Cute design, good colors, the life preserver is a nice touch. Not sure about the 2 tails, but it seems to be a thing with Japanese-based franchises, so it’s fine. Works as a propeller.

All-in-all, a good pokemon. 8/10

Oshawott/Dewott

Based on sea otters rather than river otters, and I’m not as much of a fan of the sea ones in comparison, but I do still love them. I didn’t include the final evo because it’s based on sea lions instead of otters, and I’m just neutral towards them as animals.

I’m not a fan of the color combo of Oshawott, but I still find it cute. The tail looks a bit more like a beaver tail than an otter tail, but it’s fine.

I really like Dewott’s design. Badass and still adorable. Great color combo. Great design. I love him.

Relicanth

Guys, Coelacanths are so cool. They were thought to have gone extinct 66 MILLION years ago, until some scientist found one that a fisherman had fished up in 1938. There are 2 different types found in different parts of the world, one brown and one blue, hence the regular and shiny colors of the Relicanth. They live roughly as long as a human, an, as seen in the pic, are huge. I love them.

Relicanth is perfect. 10/10

Archen/Archeops

I was OBSESSED with the archaeopteryx when I was a kid. Feathered dinosaurs? The origin of birds??? So cool! Archen is great. Look at him. He’s so derpy. He’s the best.

Archeops loses some of its charm and I can’t pinpoint exactly why I’m not as much of a fan of its design. I do like the added color from its prevo, though. I hate defeatist.

Archen: 9/10 Archeops: 7/10

Mantids are my fav bug. The are the only bug I would describe as adorable, and many people have said I am weird for it. Don’t care. I love them.

Scyther: Don’t get me wrong, I love Scyther as a pokemon, but as a mantis? Not great. Looks more like a dinosaur than a bug. And both of its evolutions barely resemble mantids. (Scizor is awesome tho.)

On their own, Scyther gets a 9/10. As a mantis? 3/10.

Leavanny is close enough to a mantis I’m putting it here. It’s got leafbug looks to it, but it’s fine. I hate its face. 5/10.

Lurantis is pretty and I love what it’s based on, but I hate its pants. 8/10.

Lastly, we have housecats. The two kitties in the photo are my two (late) kitties. I love them and miss them. And there are a lot of kitty pokemon.

Meowth: Classic. Cute enough. Standing up makes it look a little odd, but that’s fine. 8/10 Alolan Meowth: Also cute. Much potential. I love the expression. Too bad the evolution’s head got stung by a bee. I do like this one better than the original. 9/10 Galaran Meowth: Manic. Hilarious. I love it and hate it in equal measure. Love the expression and gremlin-ness of it. I really didn’t know the fluff was a beard until I actually played the game and saw it from behind. I thought it was just fluff. Weirded me out. I get why it’s there, I just... didn’t think about it. 7/10

Skitty: Round. Adorable. 8/10 Delcatty: Slightly pointier. Sleek. Pretty. 9/10

Glameow: Cute-ish. Like the long tail. Everything else is just kinda meh. 6/10. Purugly: It does what it sets out to do. It had a concept and it followed through. 8/10

Purrloin: Colors are interesting. Concept as a cat-burgler is clever. Tail is a little weird. Evolution is more of a leopard than a housecat, so it’s not here. 7/10

Litten: Cute. Great color combo. Great design. You had so much potential. 9/10 Torracat: Middle evolution syndrome. Cowlick is weird. proportions are weird. Colors got desaturated? Paws look swollen. Still looks like a cat though. 4/10 Incineroar: NO. 0/10

Sprigatito: Adorable. Fluffy. So much potential. WHY. 9/10 Floragato: Not terrible. Even standing up it’s a pretty balanced design. 7/10 Meowscarada: Ughh. It looks so stupid. I hate it, but not as much as I hate Incineroar. 1.5/10

Mew: Mew can do no wrong. Mew is perfect. 100000/10 (Though I’m not a fan of how it’s gotten pinker over the years. I prefer the pale color.)

Got to get in to the doll patterns, at least the ones I made for Shi Shi, and start working on his cloth body. It's time for a new project. I'm planning to use a white flour sack towel, he's Obitsu white, the natural is too linen colored, and I don't think the towels come in that color.

I'm going to make paper patterns and might use some of the ideas for the fabric BJD. I want to use that pattern as it is but Shi Shi has a boy chest and I want him to be able to wear the clothes I made for him.

I cut down some people clothes to have certain design elements in certain places. Aside from cutting, and resewing, them down for the Dollzone minis, I'd pretty much have to part with them and start over if I got him a new bod.

Pointless pocket on people pants becomes a useful one for dolls. That's his Nightcrawler hoodie.

I do not advise taking you 'spensive dollies out in the snow but he was still new and they still made replacement parts and that was a once in a still hasn't happened again this century thing.

Byakuya: 6/10 Out of all the characters who could have worn a jacket incorrectly, they choose McRich for the job. I hate it. But outfit is fine I guess.

Mondo: 10/10 So ridiculous and in character. Love it.

Sakura: 9/10 My girl looks great in buns (+ flower). I like the kimono a lot but the colors used irks me just a tiny bit. Still love her, though.

Celeste: 8.5/10 I wish that veil was a bit more transparent so I could see her dress in it’s entirety. Either way, she looks stunning and that hairpiece is just in character.

Junko: 9/10 The dress looks fantastic, the mask is a nice touch but I feel like she would have been perfect with loose hair.

Chihiro: 7/10 Say what you want about the onceler, I like that outfit. Very cute but the socks(?) give me the same vibe as Miu’s bondage gear and mmmm don’t like that

Nagito: 8.5/10 I’m a sucker for boys with tied hair, as you may already know. White looks nice on him, and the outfit is nice.

Twogami: 4/10 You just took Hifumi’s ugly outfit and put a fur coat on it. It doesn’t look that bad since it’s at least less flashy, but I just don’t vibe.

Gundham: 6/10 The outfit is okay I guess but are you telling me that this guy wouldn’t choose something 100 times more extra? He looks so plain. Give him the crazy outfit he deserves.

Kazuichi: 6/10 You fucking disaster. You just took your jumpsuit and made it fancy. This is so damn ridiculous, but I can still see some appeal in it but like, you’re a disaster man. Also nice glasses bro

Teruteru: 10/10 I love it. The vibe it has,,, I love this. The colors, the simpleness yet effectiveness, it’s just perfect.

Nekomaru: 6.5/10 It’s fine, I guess. It does fit him, but I don’t see that much stuff that could be considered out of the ordinary in a good way.

Fuyuhiko: 7.5/10 Palette color is good but like. The outfit is peak bisexual. I don’t even hc him as bisexual.

Akane: 10/10 THAT’S MY GIRL. She is more of a queen than Sonia will ever be, I’m sorry. She is rocking with that cape. And the outfit is great.

Chiaki: 7/10 It’s cute and effective, it fits her. I don’t like her hair that much for some reason, but overall she looks neat.

Sonia: 6/10 What do you mean this isn’t a miss universe contest?  I can’t vibe, I’m sorry. It looks nice, but it feels more like a popular girl’s dress than who Sonia really is.

Hiyoko: 7.5/10 It looks better than her in-game outfit, at least. The colors suit her, I like it.

Mahiru: 7/10 I have mixed feelings. I love the dress, but the headband is a huge no from me. Little plus for the flower, though.

Mikan: 1/10 Who thought this was a good outfit? Genuinely curious.

Ibuki: 9/10 This is so damn extra, I love it. So many ribbons for nothing, it almost gives a Touhou vibe. But the outfit itself? Horrendous color palette, but it fits because it’s Ibuki.

Peko: 9/10 Opposite of Ibuki on the same spectrum. It’s calm, classy anyway, and fits Peko. I don’t have anything to say, it’s just really good. Nice flower btw

Kokichi: 7/10 Who the fuck wears purple socks with white shoes? Also as I said before, he looks like the type of person who gets drunk before coming to the party. Outfit’s good, but once you get to the details it’s a disaster.

Keebo: 4/10 I do not vibe. I don’t know what I’m looking at. Is this another armor? Is this an outfit on the armor? I don’t know. Scarf looks a bit out of place. Also Keebo, wearing your jacket like Hiro doesn’t suit you I’m sorry.

Gonta: 4/10 I do. do not vibe. Too many squares? Too green? idk what bothers me the most. Also he gave me a heart attack the first time I saw him bc I thought he had cut his hair.

Shuichi: 6.5/10 After those two disasters I am glad to see someone at least decent. The color palette doesn’t suit him that much, but I can respect it.

Kiyo: 10/10 The guy is so classy it hurts. I don’t even know if that’s a skirt or pants but either way I love it. This outfit just suits him 100%.

Ryoma: 3/10 What the fuck is this. What. What is this. This hat reaches Touhou levels of ridiculousness. It’s horrible. The outfit is kinda better than whatever some of them have going on but holy shit the hat ruins everything for me.

Kaito: 9/10 The coat is fantastic. Black with tiny moons and stars + a space interior? That’s beyond perfect. Outfit is nice, although I would have liked a different color for the vest and the pants.

Kaede: 8/10 It’s simple and effective. I really like the flowers but still, I can’t get used to Kaede’s haircut. At this this one has cute flowers and ribbons.

Magical Daisy Good. The yellows-browns-beige works really well with both the purple accents and the minty green hair. She has pleats distributed evenly through her design, and they work in tandem with both the ribbons and with the daisies through her outfit without it getting too busy. I like her detached sleeves with gloves, and I am a sucker for practical footwear on a MG (both for them and for possible cosplayers) I’m not Crazy about the. Pouch? Asymmetrical bustle? The thing off her waist on her right. But it balances with her off-center headdress and has the same small design on it so it get’s a pass. Her hair is simple, but I like it and I think it works for her A good design for an anime (if the MGRP anime had done really well, do you think we would have gotten an in-universe magical daisy episode?)

It’s cute, it’s fairly simple compared to other mgrp outfits, I like the big flowers on the sides of her outfit over the ones hanging from the ribbons off her back. A solid look, but not a winner in my book

Ripple- This is going to come up with quite a few of these designs but I like basically everything but the body. I like the sleeves, the geta are great, love the one ponytail with big shuriken, scarf brings great contrast to the rest of the color scheme, bikini top with ribbons attaching it to a wrapped skirt? The skirt feels like this could have been a keikogi but the top is almost wholly unadorned and overall I wish this was a better look than it is

La Pucelle- Great idea, meh execution. Knight And Dragon? Love it! The navy blue for military feels with armor and goes well with the gold&cream&brown. Her horns are cute! I like the tail- it fits the character and isn’t too large or distracting. Once again I like the arms-neck-legs but the body is. a bikini with a drapery bit off the top and the tabard. The tabard is good! But why is she in her underwear? Give pants??? 

-And yes I know swimsuits cover just as much as underwear but this isn’t a swimsuit and it’s a lazy way to cover what needs to be cover and not even try to make that area of a design more interesting. This doesn’t apply just to LP or even MGRP I have seen comments on this before and unless the character’s outfit is an actual bathing suit, try harder.

Top Speed- A wife. A halloween wife. God I lover her personality and her outfit is definitely on the simple end of mgrp outfits but very fitting. The colors are great, love the hat and the tall boots, the cape stripes might be my least favorite bit? But I feel if it was solid it would be too bland so. And the end of her braids looks like a broom. I love her. Good design.

Ruler- I hate this. But why..... Is it the navy blue is a singular piece? I liked Ripple’s scarf for contrast but maybe this piece isn’t large enough? Her head things look like two crowns on the sides of her head and their weird and. Not awful? But not great. The cape looks chunky at the end? In a weird way? Or is it the drop waist on the top. I know I don’t like the butt fluff. I do like the shoes&leggings? pants? And her crown and hair stars. bad/10 for reasons I can not place

Swim Swim- Techno demon in the accessories, pure schoolgirl in swim class in the torso. The white suit+black devil wings is good as character contrast , and her....hip...discs? have demony tails which is good, but the big headphones and floating disc things work great with the shoes but not with the rest of the outfit? This is two outfits in one but not in a good way. Pick a lane.

Minael&Yunael- They might not be super-murders but boy that’s their only redeeming trait. I do not like them as fictional people. And outfitwise? Meh. I like the chat balloon halos, and the one wing look for the two of them works, and again the use of Navy rather than pure black is good, but the old fashioned dress with a bib is. boring. and not in a simple way just not interesting? Like I think if the stiped bib thing was removed it might look better? This also might be a secret hatred of mine as I think I have figured out from a later outfit. For now- boo

Tama- Are you spotted or brown&white? Her fluff bits and legs say spotted and her ears and tail and paws say brown and white and I wish we’d pick a lane? Also not crazy about the butt-length cape. I do like the bone clasp and the hood, and you have to have big ol paws for a dog girl. She’s. Fine. Just fine.

Nemurin- Her hair clouds say magical girl, the rest says generic cute sleepy anime girl. I like the socks, and her hair, but she’s not that interesting? Don’t get me wrong she’s cute but the bulk of her design is Big PJs. The candy clasp is nice as a sweet dreams thing? Sorry Endo

Calamity Mary- Titty fur. Boots with spurs and arms with fringe and mini cowboy hat are all good, and her skirt is. A little boring but fine. But the best part of her top is the sheriff badge. If we’re committed to evil=slutty=evil, you can still make a more appealing lewd top than a bikini over some fluff. Let sluts be sexy? Stay dead bitch.

Magicaloid 44- Elementary schoolgirl but robot. Bulky but in that smooth modern look. I’m a sucker for hair horns, even when they’re metal or plastic, and she just has a good silhouette. But her colors could be better? I will say her mn art has her skirt look like a skirt, and the anime said This Is A Solid Hunk Of Plastic/Metal and I think that works better. Swap her dark brown bits for a navy to go with her skirt and i think i’d be out of complaints

Sister Nana- There are multiple MG nuns. What’s up with that. Good use of sexy belts for theme consistency, but I with there was more red up top or her shoes were a different color. 9/10 for dirty nun

Weiss Winterprison- Girl I love you why is your outfit not good as a MG look or even really as an outfit. Your practical looking boots have heels, your colors are boring and messy, you have like. belts but not enough for them to look interesting? Gurl I love you do something with this bland mess.\

Cranberry- ‘I love this’ I say threw clenched teeth. I love green and flower motifs, and I like boleros and big sleeves. But I’m not that into this? I think it’s that her top looks like a nice shirt that’s a little long and then she. Just has leggings on and a big belt. I guess the buckle is like. A big thorn? And i’m into tunics with leggings but this doesn’t? do that in a way I like? The red-blue roses are a nice contrast to the green and creme but i just. I have no idea I want to be in love with this and it’s Middling for me. More elf ear’d MGs pls

Hardgore Alice- I love alice, I am a fan of edgy spins on stuff(sorry), so I’m a bit disappointed? And I think it’s just the colors? I love the checkered pockets and the striped stockings and bows and the headband and apron and bloomers and dress shape and even her eye bags (mood). I guess I just wish there was more of the off white-maybe for the full apron? or even the bloomers? I love you please re-color.

Restart:

Keek- This bitch might win it for worst look. I like her hair color, and giant sleeves, and the cd and rubix cube are nice touches for an outfit, but what outfit. A bikini top and slightly-larger-than-usual underwear style bottom with a big plate of metal? Are those supposed to be shorts??? Points for normal shoes but take off the coat and this is nothing. And the coat isn’t much to begin with. 0/10 might take home the gold

Clantail- I wish the apron part was gone? But the colors are good tho I do have a question about the horns- they’re cute but if she can change her lower body to other animals they won’t always fit very well? And her necklaceuhhh tattoo? is odd. But she’s fine

Pechika- Good colors, like the feathers, I wish the chef’s coat had a different fit but it’s good. Could go without the tail. Also has some almost military feeling elements like the hair cross and the? epaulets? This is a spats stan account

Rionetta- Great use of colors, patterns, ribbons, has a specific look that works great for the doll dress. Hell year ball joints and weird eyes. Wonderful. I hate it. No fucking clue why. Like with the angels maybe? I hate strips? Except I don’t. Maybe just in specific situations? Or I hate multiple patterns? Rio looks good. I just see her and go into a rage. 

Nonako Miyokata- A very good look overall, just not super Magical Girl? Definitely magical miko but. The yin yang accessories feel a tad out of place- replace them with existing themes or add them in elsewhere

Magical Daisy- Still good

Nokko- This is just a maid. A cute maid with a weird choice of hair decor, but I think she got her outfit at the same shop as Milkit. *shrug*

@Meow-Meow- boy I hope I didn’t just at someone for real. I like her colors and tail, poofy detached sleeves are good, her top works with the open dress. I’m a fan of detailed edging on a piece, and it works with the pattern.  I’d’ve liked to see more of the bells that are on her wrists? I guess she had a racist accent originally though which yikes. 

Genopsyko Yumenoshima- A great sentai outfit, love the helmet ears and the tail. Not good as a magical girl outfit unless we fully dissolve the mg/sentai line. But the suit is great, slightly oversized gloves, and retro lasergun that doesn’t even work? Yesssss.

Detec Bell- Fwuffy. Great hat, love the dress, a good use of a cape, simple but very good. I feel a feel some of the ribbons could be changed up but a solid if simple design. 

Lapis Lazuline (2)- Cute starry tiger princess? I guess I’m a fan of navy and brown because i’m into it here too. Good use of the silvery details on the sleeves and dress bottom, and the links both at the cape clasp and on the boots. Really nice.

Melville- Bootleg Cranberry in every way. I like her over-pants and sleeve-cape, but the weird bib-top under the bikini top is a bad shape? Hair roses good and leg thorns do get a thumbs up. 

Cherna Mouse- If the turtle gets it’s own distinct look, why is Cherna just baby+ hamster? The hood is cute, and I dig the boots which work with the shoulder things, but said things don’t go with the toddler one piece+cape. She reminds me of Moetan and that is a bad thing.

Pfle- Ohhh this bitch. I may have been reading these books but I have no damn idea what she is up to and I hate it. Love her eyepatch tho. Super cute throne-wheelchair and it continues the bird motif. Her dress is nice but not that interesting? Seems more generic old timey fancy lady dress than Magical. Honestly I could go for some mixing up of the colors here? The dress and hair and throne all are a bit too similar. Maybe make the dress wine?

Shadow Gale- I like her look but I don’t feel it says nurse as much as it’s supposed to? Her aces profile honestly gives Rue vibes. It’s very monochromatic but I guess that works for her. Big fan of her skirt, kindof with it went all the way around. Solid design

Masked Wonder- Who? I refuse to play person5 because it’s been overhyped but isn’t this one of them? Not awful as a phantom thief outfit, but doesn’t say magical girl phantom thief at all. I do like the roses on the belt and. garters? Kindof wish we’d loose the color on the cape because it clashes more than anything with the rest of the look

Akane- I like her long hair flower. But her samurai-kimono look doesn’t feel blended well enough imo and the colors are too over the place while still being bland.

Lake of Fire Flame Flamey- Hell if I know how she looks I just love typing that name

Weddin- Good colors, a bit too busy? The chains+roses+lace doesn’t feel well balanced. But the flame and ankle chain are balanced because Maruino is good at asymmetrical details 

Captain Grace- A pirate magical girl? Is she legit the only one from any main stream series? Well she set the bar high. The captain coat is great, multiple small anchors, the hat, and her skirt(?) is very cute. I guess the sole of the boots stands out a bit? But very solid (wait is that a tail? or a butt hook? :/)

Funny Trick- If Las vegas was a magical girl. Colors and silhouette are good, I’m just not vibing with this. sorry girl

Kuru-kuru Hime- Yiss more ballet themed outfits. Good colors, love the shape of the giant back bow. I could go without the big ribbon coming off the headpiece? It’s nice

Postarie- Buttwings! I love her hair shape, just. Not a fan of the orange and green colors? She’s a delivery girl but feels more marching band. It’s a good design, just doesn’t feel fitting? Great just not for her

Rain Pow- Now this is a sci-fiy look while still saying magical girl. The tail is yet another weird thing, and I could go without the permeant ring behind her, but the shape of her outfit is very good, and love the silly heart hair. Wish the gloves were a different color? But this is up there

Tepsekemei- Genie outfits being problematic isn’t something I can speak to, but this is a solid genie look with additions to feel different, specifically the lotuses. It’s good, and I haven’t seen flying turtles since love hina so. Good for her.

Mana- You’re not a magical girl. Maybe I just hate bibs? The hat is great and snake leg is fun, I wish her collar was actually smaller to stand out more? It’s a fine mage look i guess

Hana Gekokujou- Great use of hair color as contrast to a committed color scheme. A cute traditional bunny look. Not personally my favorite but it is Good.

7753- Big Coat! Giant heart braids! Consistent heart theme! It’s bland compared to a lot of the other outfits, and I don’t think her flat heart uhh hair? pieces? like rain pow? work as well with her. But I think she works well for a member of the resources department. Wait is her hat backwards? Amazing

Archfiend Pam- I’m mostly a fan of this. The top is great, it’s carried through at one hip, she has the weird arm guy to keep her asymmetry going on. I just wish she’d commit to either fur Or pleats as trim? Both is a weird texture choice

Pythie Frederica- This bitch took a while for her proper appearance. I love the horns on the hood, and the stars throughout work well. I really don’t care for her skirtdress though? It’s too long and in ribbons and feels almost jellyfish-y? I feel it’s supposed to feel like she’s standing in fire but that doesn’t work pass a glance for me

Tot Pop- Love hot topic. Her spiky ribbon is my favorite bit, and I’m a fan of oversized sleeves. A great mall goth look, not amazing as a magical girl look tho. The head decor feels most on brand for the genre.

Punkin- What if the three musketeers were murderous and royalty. I love the hair feather and dig the ruff, the cape honestly feels like overkill? The boots are great and I dig the pants. Once again, why tails. I know mahou-furbies has reviewed a lot of these girls with the same comment and she’s right. Pick red or blue for this look though.

Sonia Bean- Kindof busy, in a garbage way. Like her outfit is made of fancy garbage to make an old timey doll. Which is fitting. Love the dress shape. Less into the weird dangly poofs.

Jokers:

Princess Inferno- The whole princess line works well together. Quake has the least Team outfit but I feel all four work well together? Inferno’s bikini is a smidge above other tops with the fire shapes, and I like her hair, but I think she’s my least favorite princess.

Princess Deluge- Swirls and scales throughout? Armor? Gold jewelry? My biggest issue is the chain to the weapon because this is a really nice outfit.

Princess Quake- Why does your tail start in the middle of the back? I like her leotard and eye theme, and her head piece adds nice shape. Good asymmetry. shame she’s into children The hair gem is a fun touch

Princess Tempest- The apples are a weird touch? Good for color but weird as a theme? I love the leaves- honestly I’m a huge fan of the vaguely toga-y look. Are the apples supposed to be an atlanta thing? Her skirt could be a bit better but Nice

Prism Cherry- Princess of our hearts. What a color scheme. Her oversized dangly accents work well here I feel, and I love the skirt and the leaf looking ribbon behind the neck. I could do without the arm fluff, but the top garter for the skirt is a nice touch

Marika Fukuroi- My wife is a bitch and I like her so much. A much more vibrant outfit than most of the mgrp girls, the black is edgy but in a fun loud way. I love her skirt and every damn crazy flower. Her top is my least favorite with the smaller flowers connecting her top to her bottom and the frills that honestly are out of place. Great eyes

Styler Mimi- A fancy outfit that fits her theme, with a nice silhouette and simple color scheme. Ruined by the giant back powder puffs. Yes she would be fairly simple without those but they’re so garish and awkward. Good hair

Stanczyka- I thought her middrif was another hunk of plaster like the mask and now that I see it’s just skin with some stars :/ The whole head thing is good, and the fur is consistent throughout even if I’m not a fan of it. The giant sleeves are. weird. I want to like them but. Her swirly tiddys are a nice touch. The brown hair on the tail doesn’t fit

Lady Proud- For someone who lived for a lot of pages I do not remember her. Her leotard works with the sleeves to feel like an old timey dress and the way the cape is being held up to look like bat wings is nice. The green layer in her hair is an odd choice. I do dig the hair clips with the horns

Umbrain- Froggy slicker. ...Sakura did it better, the yellow and purple&red is a meh color combo sorry. I do love the candy additions for the ame(rain) ame(candy) play, and her umbrella is great. But once again I am confronted by a bib. Also her slicker is actually two pieces? Bad colors, bad body, good theme

Filru- I like the colors and the corset, and in theory the chunky knitting is very cute but I feel it’s at odds with the boots and corset. Make the whole thing chunky knitting- it’d be cute. The head doily also could be more on theme imo

Uttakatta- again, what did you do? giant overalls are good in theory, but the slits and the. bubbles? clear donuts. are just ugly. Honestly her whole look is not good, and a bubble theme has so much potential for cool shit :(

Kafuria- good use of colors, I’m not personally into the shape of her kimono as a mg dress, but the wings and the veil+such are nice

Grim Heart- this bitch. God her dress is a great shape. I think i’m not fully into her spade tail ribbons, but otherwise love? The flamingo is Silly but again as an alice fan, i do not care (ask me about kagihime for 10000 words of rage!)

Shufflin- the tiny bib haunts me but the big double sides apron card piece is a nice way to do the simple and versatile Card look. The hair is cute and i like the suit as a big piece behind the head

Aces:

Armor Arlie- chunky suit of armor. but Cute. as an armor fan in MG designs, even I think this is A Bit Much, but it has enough going for it that i think it’s a fun look

Bluebell Candy- once again Maruino kills it with using navy very nicely. A military vibe with the epilates and double breasted uhh skirt decor. honestly shocked the hat is center, and mm good hair happenings. A very nice design. still not into the weird fluff tail stuff

Dark Cutie- Great hair decorations, love the lunar details, seems to be a leotard over leggings? It’s nice. It’s not crazy grabbing or stands out that much in silhouette, but i do like it

Micchan the Dictionary- tying your coat around your neck is not valid, motarboards are not good magical girl accessesories, i personally have an owl vendetta, the red in her shoes appears no where else, and the shape of her dress is just weird. plus that hair is. not good. Oh wow. I might rank her lower than keek. oh Wow

Glassianne- this is just that alcreamie pokemon. i wish the exposed strawberry went all the way down instead of there being more icing along the bottom. she has a consistent theme and nice colors, i’m not not digging it

Uluru- said dog. 7753 and tama’s child. she looks warm but not super magical. why is she dog themed?

Sorami Nakano- gamer aesth. I could do without the hair paws, but the jumper is super cute, love the eyes and the hair tones, general color scheme, bandaid is a cute touch. A solid look.

Premium Sachiko- good colors, i like the cut of the sleeves/boots/dress, but her art has her legs blend together and that’d just the art but weird. nice use of four leaf clovers and horseshoes throughout for her luck theme. 

CG Angel Hammer- I like the flowers and the bones tail/wings. The halo thing is. odd, and it’s hard to get a great idea of her actual outfit. weird hair choice, tiny bottom but at least it has some frills. Needs more art

Patricia- acab. great colors tho and I like the shapes for the shoulders and wrist, and the light theme. The bright blue ribbons and earrings stand out well. This is actually a really solid design. 

Puk Puck- i hate this baby angel there’s too much to look at. Your bondage leg is weird! cute chest piece. you can’t have cloud swirls and drills for hair damn it. your halo also has a veil? fuck you. 6/10.

You thought you'll die at that moment because you were unconscious all night (but you were just overreacting because you were here, mentally cursing the poor coffee for being lukewarm)

Your gaze turn to the window displaying the current state of weather outside your home. "What a gloomy day", you thought. You suddenly remembered your "friend". How warm his smiles are, his laugh that is soft to the ears, how he patiently told you that you were his "childhood bestfriend". You wish you were, but in reality, he's only a product of your vivid dream.

"What a heavy sleeper, tsk." A voice of a guy woke up your senses, but it is utterly impossible that it is your roommate carrying you because he just left yesterday for their three-day retreat in Incheon. "I'm not joking around." Something about the seriousness in your voice made the boy stop his banters. Confusion started pooling around his eyes as he stare at you. While you remained silent and impatient, impatient to know what kind of fuss is happening to you right now.

"Now, will you tell me who you are and how did you know my name, and how did I end up in here... I assume this is your apartment." He nodded slowly at your assertion. He cleared his throat and shifted on his seat to fully face you, while you move a bit away from him, feeling awkward at the unfamiliarity of the person. He looks harmless, though. The type of guy you want to befriend. His soft features slowly making you relax, as if you've known him for a long time. But you just don't have any clues about him. Everything. You are clueless.

"Uhm, if you're being serious right now... I'm Hyunjin, your neighbor and your childhood bestfriend. We knew each other since we were seven. We attend the same school, we're inseparable as hell and... You end up here because you texted me last night telling me that you want to watch movies. You fell asleep for like an hour ago then we're here." He shrugged while your mouth just stay agaped, completely stupefied at what he just said. You remembered not having a childhood friend since you were seven, because your parents never let you play with your neighbor's children. You don't remember having someone attending the same school as you. You and your roommate attend different schools.

"Are you okay?" You went out of your trance when Hyunjin asked you softly, not wanting to scare you. His warm hazel orbs soothing your confused mind. It's like his soft gaze made you respond. Your response made him keen, he smiled and gesture to you to wait for him as he stand up from his seat and went somewhere.

While he was gone, you got the chance to fully look at his apartment. Your eyes glued to the one picture displayed on the rack beside his tv set. A picture of a younger version of a boy that you assume was him and "you". You were certain it was you. Because the child looks exactly, exactly as you. The way you dressed when you were a kid. The way you put clips on your hair, it's exactly like the kid on the picture. Your appreciation of the room were cut when Hyunjin went back, a box in his hands.

He placed the box in front of you, your brows morphed from calm to knitted, confused why would he bring a box to you.

"This box contains all the shit we did together, in case you forgot. Open them, and see for yourself." You contemplate at first, but the curiosity made you open the box. Lots of papers, lots of sentimental things a person keeps whenever it holds something dear for them. You see an empty packet of candies inside, surprise to see that it's your favorite candy. You huffed softly when you saw a metal spoon from a restaurant, grabbing it hearing a chuckle from him.

"The fork's with you. Remember that? Six years ago, you gave me a dare to take home those utensils from that restaurant? I almost peed on my pants when the waiter looked at my direction while i'm putting those inside my bag. Good thing I already closed my bag. I gave you the fork for a proof, you told me." He rolled his eyes and chuckle as he recall the memory, but you just smiled, weirded out with your other you's antics. You carefully placed the spoon back and grabbed a folded yellow pad paper with lots of scribbles in it.

"Ah, that one. I asked you some answers because I really don't have any fucking idea that we have a long quiz on Mathematics that time. And being the good best friend you are, you gave me your answers. We were almost caught, but I'm good at hiding." He said and winked. You continue inspecting the contents of the box. Everything have different memories held with them. Every memory your other you made with him. At one point, you wished that you lived in this life. You wish you were your other you. You never experience all these things. You were a loner. You barely had friends and one reason is because you just suck at socializing. Your only roommate is who you consider as a good friend. But not as sentimental as Hyunjin.

"A-are we really that close?" You asked and he just nod in response.

"Uh huh. And no one can separate us. Even our parents." He said and emit a hearty chuckle made you did the same.

"S-sorry..." You mumbled, stopping him from his chuckling. He just tsk-ed and ruffled your hair. You just felt sorry for him, you don't know anything about him, personally. You don't even know his family name, only his first name, and the things he told you that you two did together back then. But you like his warm persona, a kind of friend you wish you had.

"Don't be. You didn't do anything— wait, the popcorn! I almost forgot. Why don't I get them first and let's start this movie marathon, hmm?" He stand up and went to the kitchen to get the popcorn. A feeling of contentment bubbled up your chest. Maybe staying here won't hurt, right? The feeling pf warmth, comfort, and having a good friend (take note, a childhood bestfriend) are all here. Even if it's just a dream. A dream that you wish was reality.

You were calmly watching a movie that Hyunjin picked himself. The feeling of aloofness already gone, comfort and coziness was more patent especially when you let Hyunjin leaned his head on your shoulders. You smiled as you look down at him, your hands unconsciously ruffling his blonde locks emitting a hum of content from him.

"No wonder you're really you." He said, making you retract your hands from his hair and mumbling sorry to him.

"Tsk. Stop saying sorry, will ya?" He chided, grabbing your hand and placed it back on his hair, your fingers spontaneously fiddling with his soft tresses, the feeling was nice, and you don't want to stop. It seems like you were really the one to do it.

"You love ruffling my hair, remember? Especially when I bleached it. You won't stop running your hands on it. You always tell me how badly you want to bleach yours too but your mom won't allow you." He explained and pinched your cheeks. You just gave him a bonafide smile. You never felt so happy before. With the short span of time you had spent with Hyunjin, having a good buddy is so new to your feeling. It's like you can be you in front of him, no pretense, and you're glad that your other "you" has the same characteristics like yours, it feels like this is really your life, your universe where your "childhood best friend", Hyunjin, exists. At some point, you thought to yourself that you don't like to wake up anymore. That you'll stay here forever in this universe, in this dream, with your friend. Basking in the warm fuzzies you felt as Hyunjin embraced you with platonic affection, like a good friend that he is.

"Hyunjin..." You called him softly, his eyes forming crescents when he finally heard you call him with his first name since you woke up from your "weird sleep". He hummed as he straightened his position from leaning his head on your shoulders. You grinned at him and held his hand with yours, his expression is a bit confused yet his smile never left his lips.

"Uh— I... I just wanna say thank you." You felt your cheeks flushed as his warm orbs stare at you.

"For what? For letting you eat all the popcorn and chicken? Oh no, you don't have to thank me, I know how much of a pig you are." He jested but you just laughed it off, realizing that you ate too much of the food he prepared for the both of you.

"Oh- okay! But, no. That's not what I meant. I mean— thank you... For being a good friend to me. T-thank you for staying with me. Thank you for treating me like I am someone special." You felt his hand squeezed yours affectionately, even though in his point of view, you were being weird today.

"You know, with our years of friendship, even if you don't tell it to me that you're thankful, trust me, I can feel it. And I hope you feel it too, that I'm grateful to have you as my best friend, my confidante— and please" he said and frowned, removing his hands from your grasp, your mind confused at his sudden change of actions.

"Can we stop here? I'm not used to you being so sentimental. So dramatic" he scoffed. You just stifled a laugh as you remember him crying at the movie from a while ago. Dramatic and sentimental huh?

"Wait, who's the one crying over a movie?" You taunted hearing him huffed in defense.

"Why? The movie's genre was drama! And it's really heartbreaking! Gosh! You're not watching, no? The movie's so nice an—" he stopped when you suddenly snaked your arms around him, squeezing him.

"Okay okay Hyunjin! Haha! I-I'm the dramatic one okay? Now, let me stay like this hm? I kinda want to squeeze you right now." You said and snuggle yourself in his warmth more, familiarizing yourself with this comfy feeling. He just huffed and played with your hair, making you a bit sleepy.

"Hmp, admit that you just want to hug me, idiot." He remarked but he just let you. The calm beating of his heart, his hands caressing your locks are like a lullaby that is slowly putting you to sleep, and it successfully did. Hyunjin's warmth made you fall into slumber.

Your eyes slowly opened, squinting when the strong ray of sunlight passed by your flimsy curtain—

"Thank God you're finally awake, I thought I need to call doctors now." You heard Seungmin's voice from your door. You're back. You're back in your real world. This is the reality where you belong, and at some point, it saddens you. But you need to accept that it was just a dream, a vivid one. A wonderful dream you'll never forget.

"Uh... Y/N? Are you okay?" You jumped when your roommate slowly tapped your shoulder, you just sighed and nodded.

"Hm yeah. Wait- you're supposed to be in Incheon for three days right? Why are you here? It's already done?" He just frowned and shrugged.

"Well, the school cancelled it because of the weather. I went back last night, and I saw you lying on the bathroom floor, you know what, I outright panicked. But you're still breathing and it seems like you fell asleep, so I brought you here." He said and you just nod slowly. Remembering nothing after you slipped, only your dream with your friend.

"Uh, thanks. I slipped and banged my head on the floor. The impact is kinda hard but, I'm okay now." You said and fished for your phone to check the time.

"You sure?" He insisted and you just nod.

"Okay then. Oh— I prepared some breakfast for you. I already ate, I don't want to wake you up so–" he smiled sheepishly making you smile.

"It's okay Seung. Thanks." He just nod and smiled before leaving you alone to prepare.

That short time with Hyunjin was a nice journey. You can still feel the warmth, Hyunjin's hearty smile, his welcoming persona. You wish that in this reality, you'll also meet a person like him. You'll also meet the "Hyunjin" here in your own universe, not only in your dreams.

The Mandalorian s2 ep1 Reactions Post That’s right I’m BACK

and none of you not even god himself can stop me from rambling about space cowboy dad and tiny green baby stuff for much longer than any sane person should 

the TL;DR is that I still love this show SO MUCH, beware a bunch of spoilers under the cut!

- costume design wise I LOVE how badly the armour fits Cobb Vanth

 especially when you get shots with him and Din side by side for contrast:

It’s not just that it’s clearly not made for him (it seems he’s a lot lankier and more wiry than Boba is), he simply doesn’t know how to wear it, and he doesn’t know how to take care of it, because he doesn’t know what it means. Remember when Din’s breastplate got bent completely out of shape by the mudhorn and he had it repaired to the best of his ability long before they even finished with the ship? That’s why he looks so grounded and natural in it and Vanth has sort of a clumsy Spiderman-in-his-first-home-made-costume air about him. (also Boba’s helmet has a beautiful heft and solidity to it in this, they make all the beskar have a Feel and weight to it, makes it feel important)  

I like that Vanth is taller than Din; everything that drives home that Din’s strength doesn’t come from being naturally physically imposing or impressive is a joy to me 

- Boba’s armour seems to be confirmed to be real beskar, which gives me so much hope that they’re doing something actually nuanced and interesting with Boba and Jango’s cultural identities as Mandalorians (whether they do consider themselves that or not, for example), unlike George Lucas’ inexplicable yet unbending stance of ‘They aren’t and never were lol get fucked Fetts’  

the way the triumphant heroic part of the mando music sputtered and died when the man himself showed up tho... uh-oh this might be bad news 

man but that’s a stunning and surprising way to introduce a well-known character divorced from what makes them so iconic, though, just from that I’m going to trust they know what they’re doing (AND they got temuera morrison back I’m so EXCITED!!!). without the armor there’s the face of someone who shared that face with literal millions and at the same time must be looking older than his father ever got to at this point, and that’s super interesting as a starting point to me. (I... guess there’s still a chance it’s a fakeout and that it’s actually another clone, but that would be such a letdown when they’ve already given us this haha) 

- an excellent [mando sighs] moment

this opening scene did a great job of re-summarizing him for the audience -- establishing again that he gives you one chance at dealing with him fairly and if you insist on continuing to be an asshole about it, you’re toast, the fact that his fighting style is so much about being able to tank blows rather than not getting hit in the first place, the horror movie monster mando setup as he stalked the dude down and strung him up, the Poetic Justice predicated on some very careful word choices, and most importantly “where I go, he goes”... all wonderful, I’m sure I’ll watch this scene back for fine details and better looks at the background characters many many times 

(word seems to have spread about him and the baby for real now, which makes me VERY nervous btw)

- Pulserifle’s back! Jetpack’s back! Razor Crest’s back! Grappling line’s back! PELLI’S BACK!!!!!! Tattooine... is also back *Finn voice* Why does everyone want to go back to Tattooine????

I really enjoyed the way they fleshed out and (for lack of a better word) humanized the sand people, though, if you are going back to this desert hellplanet again that is a worthy reason to do it 

- Din swearing :O!! and one of the less egregious star wars swears too, I’m fine with this

- in campaign star wars news: I guess there was sort of both a binbon and a jubna in this ep! what a time to be alive

- as usual I love the jawa. a bright spot in any day, just a bunch of lil goblin-y friends hanging out having the best time loving sparkly crystals and rescuing silver foxes.

I uh. Do you think. Hm. Is there maybe a metaphor here somewhere. Is there perhaps a hidden, one may say double, meaning, at play, right here, in this image? Who can say, it’s just niggling at me (there’s a very similar set of shots with Toro in season 1, but seemingly the show went ‘I fear we might have gone too subtle with it, let’s amp it up this time’ over the season break loool)

honestly though this dynamic really highlighted everything I love about the ways Din performs masculinity. It’s so much softer and more community/collaboration focused and more comfortable to be around than Vanth’s version -- and Vanth isn’t a bad dude by any stretch of the imagination, it’s not hard to see why he’s like that considering where he’s from, he’s just such a... man. The lone person who can protect this village! The only man who’s got what it takes! It’s all on his shoulders and no one else’s, so do exactly as he says or he’ll put a hole in you! (I think it’s telling that one of his first comments to Din is ‘I’m sure you call the shots wherever you’re from, but ‘round here, I’m the person who tell folks what to do’, because as we as the audience knows, Din very much does not call the shots of where he’s from lol) I guess it says some nice things about the tribe of Mandos Din is from that this is how he approaches things, and it says some good things about Vanth how quickly he comes around to this smarter and less confrontational/domineering style of doing things once he’s been exposed to it and sees how it works. it’s just neat

(it’s smart of Favreau to set his ~*lone gunslinger*~ character up like this, too, it makes him so much more interesting and versatile)   

- With the way Din says ‘a Mandalorian Armorer sent me on my path’ it does seem confirmed that’s the equivalent of a priest role or a sort of shaman -- I wonder if he knows the name of ‘The’ Armorer or if they take on the role as a whole identity 

- the sheer contrast between the two people who wanted Din to take his helmet off for them in this ep tho... wants Mando’s armour off for horrible awful reasons and got exactly what he deserved:

- This is a nuanced thing: I don’t think I actually ship it (not in a requited way from Din’s side, anyway, Vanth I’m 100% sure about lol), but the incredible potential for out-of-context-taking of “Take it off, or I will”/”...we doin’ this in front of the kid?” is uh astounding  

(anyone got the vibe Vanth sort of had something with the bartender too? no just me? well well)

- I was never really scared Din was actually dead or hurt b/c baby wasn’t scared and I figure he’d know lol, a very useful fear barometer 

- “What’s the plan?” “Take care of the child” “What are you gonna do?” “I don’t know, but wish me luck *yeets his new bro out of harm’s way before diving in head first himself*” fksdjhfkjlashdfkjsldahfkasldjhfskldajhfsadkjfh WHAT a summation of Din’s entire approach to battle & life, dad please you carry a not insignificant part of my heart around with you be careful 

(Also with the heavy implication that Boba was watching the whole thing... can you imagine him just looking on as Din throws himself down that gullet like a madman. There must have been some ‘o_-7 *headscratch headscratch* ???’ going on for him there)

it’s kind of sweet that din trusts vanth will take care of the baby if something happens though, they really bonded quickly huh 

- the sand people who kept willingly going over to the krayt dragon’s cave are honestly braver and more admirable than anyone else has ever been, I kept just shouting in anguish as they were gobbled up, they deserved better 

- can we talk about how clear it still is that Din’s just... lonely. When he thinks he’s found another Mando and he sounds almost reverent with relief... and then it gets odder and odder (’uh... drinks? I guess... does he have drinking straws with him or -- HE’S TAKING THE HELMET OFF???’ oh buddy)

I wonder if they’re building towards something about him realizing it doesn’t have to be Mandos for him to trust and bond with people longer term? Basically all the characters he’s met and we’ve watched him form attachments to and get help from are non-Mandos -- Kuiil :’^(, Cara, Omera, Cobb Vanth, IG-11 :^’’(, Greef Karga to a degree. Establishing so firmly what he’s looking for this early would be good setup for a ‘what a character thinks they want vs. what they need’ thing later on just on a writing level, anyway, Boba Fett could bring in some interesting points of view about Mandalorianness too   

- baby’s happy gurgles when he sees pelli!!!!!! din speaking sand people language and petting alligator doggies!!!!!!

- pedro pascal’s voice work remains an utter joy to me. din’s measured, earnest, occasionally slightly stilted way of talking is still so good, and then he does things like inserting some more... idk life is the wrong word but that more charged and dynamic tone he took on when he said (”I thought you weren’t a gambler”) “I’m not”. *chef kiss*

- if the pulse rifle’s stun is able to do that to a fuckn krayt dragon... that’s some serious shit din is carrying around with him lol (interestingly the actual shooty pew-pew part of it didn’t seem to do much to it, but then I guess he was shocking it from the inside out and not through thick hide, so idk)

- my only real complaints about this ep: Vanth’s backstory ran a bit long, and not enough baby & dad interaction. the concept art’s got me tho:

Okay, I know, I know, it's already old news, everybody and their uncle in the costuming community has already talked it over, but anyhoo, I made notes when I crawled my way through effing Bridgerton and I will be damned if I don't vomit them onto this site. I have 32 pages of this shit, I'm not gonna throw that away.

I'm also typing this on my phone because I'm stuck on a trainride that's just doubled in length because this is the 2021 Northern German snow storm. What, there's snowflakes on the rails? We cannot possibly keep up our schedule, say goodbye to 90% of the connections.

Okay, on to Bridgerton, Episode 1

We're in Britain (oh, London, okay), allegedly 1813. I see people who are clearly meant to be asympatico, but is this size incusivity I spot there? Daring! Gasp! Me li...

Oh wait, no. The character is promptly shamed for her figure (which is mostly caused by the horrible cut of her dress. Every size can look great in Regency garb, but never mind, we need to make the "fat one" look bad!).

Also, no shifts under the stays. Why. There was obviously enough budget, don't tell me you couldn't afford a few strappy tops - it's not like the rest is historically accurate, so it would have sufficed to send some poor underpaid intern to H&M and get some. Nvm, that wouldn't be sexay.

Wait, is the garishly dressed (always a sign of a character of bad character in a costume drama) woman Delphine from Selfridge? Does she always have to play bitches? That's not nice, and just because she has a recognisable face, which by modern (read: americanised) standards is not favourable enough. Ugh. But I like the actress, so I'll let it slide (for now).

Not sure about the girls' dresses. Also, the Queen is a WOC, cool!

Oh no, one of the Featherington sisters faints! But that's okay because the Featheringtons are just comic relief and foil anyway.

I get weird incest vibes from the Bridgertons.

So the court is clearly 18th century and the show is set in the 1810s. I've by now seen several explanations for this decision, I still think it robs the Queen of reproductions of her actual historical gowns which were heavily inspired by the 18th century but so. Magnificently. Weird. It would have been so neat, and more of a "hey, I'm kinda out of touch with things" vibe, but hey, I'm not the one getting paid for making those taffeta gowns here (her hair is glorious, tho).

I'm very into the intro.

That Regency gossip girl is a real b, not unlike the Dowager Countess of Downton (unpopular opinion, I think she's pretty overrated, yes, I like Maggie Smith).

Where do I know the "pragmatic" Bridgerton sister from? Ah, it's The Paradise. And Jonathan Strange. (Wait, she's my age. And she's supposed to be a teenager. Man, do I love a good Dawson casting. I like the actress, though, she has a face ™!).

Aaaah. We get it. She's the spirited one. She also doesn't care about dresses because she's not like other girls™. I really like her voice (but she still doesn't sound like a teenager).

The heck is up with Lady F's dress and that of her friend? Oh, yeah. Antagonist fashion.

Of course the Featheringtons are Horrid Hags™ aside from Penny who's nice, but the pudgy one (at least we don't get a case of "she's not conventionally attractive so she's bad").

Oooh, the cousin! Supposed to suck, but ofc she's a stunner, and only Penny (who's the nice one, remember!) is delighted to have her around. She's also a POC, which is nice but apparently that means she does not follow fashion, hair-wise. I would have loved to see some Regency hair on her, it would have been so pretty *cries in Greek updo*

Ugh, we're still in Ep. 1, typing this on my phone was a bad idea.

Lady Danbury and the Duke guy are delightful with each other (more POC! So neat!).

The girl the oldest Bridgerbro screws is apparently a singer, which isn't up to status for his doucheship, and she doesn't wear a shift.

The music at the ball sounds like something from the Top 40s, but I'm woefully ignorant of contemporary music charts so I can't tell what it is. I like it when they do that in historical-ish works, making well-known pop or rock stuff work for the ambience (ugh, that dance scene to Golden Years in Knight's Tale. My heart. In a good way.)

I dig the Ducktail hair of Penny's crush. Oh, wait, that's a Bridgerbro. I don't quite get why the hair trends of the time don't apply to the POC characters or extras, but seeing how most white characters also show a shameful disregard for the weirdnes and gloriosity (that's not a word) that is early 1800s hair (the 1830s take the cake, tho) despite those hairdos being basically designed for white people hair, I don't think I care much (well, I do, but about all of them). Overall the hair is horrid and not very 1810s. Let's just leave it at that.

Like a good old romance novel (I've since been told that Bridgerton is supposed to be a pastiche of such novels, but I really couldn't tell from the series, not at all, and I'm not inclined to read the books) we have

a pretty, kind, superpure daughter of the main family

the mean matriarch (could have been an aunt, too, but here she's the mum) of the rivalling or antagonist family

a spirited daughter of the main family (in most romance novels this would be our heroine but so far she refreshingly lacks a love interest and pretty daughter seems to get the most screen time)

Of course the romance is going to be the Pretty One aka. Daphne and the Duke and he's even bros with her eldest bro. Wait, are they exes? I can haz bi? No? Aww, shucks. Maybe in another episode (spoiler: no).

Okay, WHAT is it with Lady F's dresses and hair. Like, she reminds me of Mars Attacks. Which, as you might remember, was not set in the Regency period.

Lord B (Bridgerbro the Eldest) sucks, he's screwing Opera Girl without any intention of marrying her but he's bitchy about his sister being ogled by his Eton (or wherever) bestie?

Oh, I'm in Hamburg now. And my train back home got canceled, so back to Berlin it is because there's not a single option to get to Hanover tonight, at least that's what the lady from the train station is saying, "oh well, you'll have to go back and try again tomorrow", so that's awesome...

Honestly, if it weren't so late and I didn't have things to do at home I'd find this terribly exciting.

I think I was upset about how they totally ignored that it's called Regency because George IV acted as the regent king, and he doesn't even feature in the series, I guess because they wanted to play up the Queen? The Bridgertons are annoyingly perfect. Ugh.

Oh look, it's "banter" between Daphne and Dukey! It's so Pride & Prejudice! It's almost a tiny bit Shakespeare! I put banter in parentheses because wow, nope, I'm not getting any chemistry here.

Uh, Lady B calls out Lord B (aka. her son aka. Bridgerbro the Eldest) for his screwery with Opera Girl and his outpimpery of his sister to Horrid Suitor™, buuuurrrrrnnn. He promptly calls of his affair with Opera Girl.

Penny gets to dance with Ducktail Colin at the thing! Good for her, but it's a country dance with jumping and fun, because she's a) the pudgy character and b) a Featherington, so it can't be something romantic and pretty (I personally like country dances, but they aren't protagonist dances).

Oooh, Cousin had her period, oh no, oh snap, oh she didn't, because she's PREGNANT! Shit, that's problematic, and not because she's an unmarried woman in the 1810s, but because she gets close to no lines at all so far, and suddenly she's pregnant and telling Lady F that she sucks for being privileged, violence ensues, this is ugly. Man, I get what some critics mean by "the POC actors*actresses get all the problems" and that not exactly being great.

Horrid Suitor™ makes property claims about Daphne, eeewwwww, thanks to Lord B's general suckiness, ewww, r@pe attempt ensues, was that really necessary? It doesn't really fit in with the rest of the series and generally nope, yay, broken nose! (which was indeed totally necessary). Nice one, and probably the only scene so far (spoiler: overall) in which I actually like Daphne. Dukey thinks a mean left hook is attractive, and, generally speaking, he's not wrong.

Daphne and Dukey come up with a pseudo-shakespearean plot to pretend to be totally into each other so she can attract suitors by being not available and he gets not to have fangirls by being not available, and as someone who has read a few too many historical-ish bodice rippers I know exactly where this is going. I mean, come on.

I can't see enough of the following choreography to complain about it. Man, I miss historical dance classes.

you’re talking to some designer about their next project and they’re going on about this instagram dude who’s already on board when they start waving someone over like “hey hey, there he is, y/n have you met kim namjoon yet?”

after introductions, the designer gets pulled along into some other conversation and you and namjoon are kinda awkward for a minute.

you’ve been following them even closer since then so you know they’re playing a gig in like two weeks and you tell him.

at first you’re just making tentative plans to meet and go to to the gig, but then there’s a gallery opening the same day, and you know this realy good thrift shop nearby that he should check out, and you guys should get dinner before because namjoon knows this really cool place and-
