I think a lot about how Vash and Knives are perceived and how they actually are. Vash is the one who pushes his feelings back and holds himself together constantly in order to keep pushing forwards, despite how open/silly he seems on the surface. Knives comes across as colder and more logical, but his decisions and conclusions are all driven by his rage and fear and emotions.

Knives makes himself out to be the reasonable one who knows more about the world than Vash (at least in Tristamp), but Vash is actually the one out there experiencing things and learning about life and humanity, meaning he's probably much wiser. This specifically is one of my favorite things about Trigun because it's just so hopeful. Vash is the one who sees the world and everything it has to offer (he was running all over the place for 150 years, dude!), and he's also the one who believes so resolutely that humans are good. I think that's absolutely beautiful.

I'm so disappointed with eloises behavior in episode 6, especially her last scene with Penelope. i honestly don't even know if the story wants me to be frustrated with eloise for turning on Cressida or agree with her, because I'm absolutely so frustrated with her! She seemingly has no regard for why did Cressida claim to be lady whistledown, she immediately assumed that Cressida will ruin her family, she immediately regretted their friendship and called her a viper and I'm watching all of this, thinking "what just happened?!!"

What a frustrating direction to go with eloise, it would make more sense and it would be more interesting if she was conflicted between wanting to help Cressida escape her situation and not want penelope to lose lady whistledown even though she hurt her and her family, instead she just went "fuck Cressida, I'm team penelope now"

This is the most frustrating thing that has ever happened in this show especially since I'm not sure if it's bad writing or I'm supposed to think that eloise is wrong, especially since the scene feels sincere..

Maybe the remaining episodes will change my feelings but for now, I'm incredibly frustrated!

Can we all try to remember that individual citizens and random Jews and Arab peoples are not responsible for the horrors committed by the Israeli government and by Hamas?

Wishing for the atrocities to stop isn't some bullshit both sides-ism. Hundreds of innocent people -- children, literal babies -- have been murdered and brutalized. It does not hurt my heart or turn my stomach any differently if I know which side of the war the people are on.

Regular people are not responsible for this war, but they are the ones suffering.

There are no sides here that matter. You're either terrified about the safety and survival of all involved, or you have some bigotry to work through, because it's not soldiers and senators that are being raped and beheaded, it's people like you and me. And if you are only able to have compassion and empathy and gut-rending sorrow and fear for one group of people in this awful situation, then you should reflect on what that means about your own humanity.

So just...

Jews are not a collective. Jewish people should not be universally condemned and attacked for the actions of the government of one country. Palestinians should not be made to answer for the actions of Hamas. No one should be living like this.

(thinking about the way he convinced her he was still himself. his smile when she said his name. the way he said hello. the way he simply looked at her. how he had to act like everything was normal because he was so scared she was gonna leave him. the hurt when she asked him to change back, just exacerbating that fear even more. him trying to play it off as if he's totally fine with sending her home even though it's absolutely and utterly the last thing he'd ever want to do. his pride at finally getting her to smile, only to be immediately dashed when she snapped at him. the way he made the worst impression after that and scared the life out of her.

I do. I know some people think either he wouldn't have or he would've missed so that's why the writers had him shoot Dorian instead, but mmmmmm no, I don't personally think so. I like to think that if he had taken the shot, his shaky hands would've caused him to shoot her fatally.

Mostly because I'm already so normal about the fact that of the Ericson crew, Marlon and Louis are the only ones with a body count. Well, that we know of, but shown to us in the game, at least. Plus, we know it's Louis' first kill.

Like yeah, Clementine and AJ become part of the crew and they have bigger body counts, and if we're counting indirect kills caused by actions, then Tenn has a count... and I guess everyone has blood on their hands for blowing up the boat... but I'm talking about killed directly with a weapon like....... I lied, I'm not normal about that at all, Louis and Marlon are the ones who have killed someone in Louis' route. I'm also not normal about the fact that Louis kills Dorian and then even as he's clearly in shock, he tries to go with Clementine to get AJ, and then later on when they talk about it, he says it feels like bile but not quite and he's glad he has it in him to do it.... listen, listen, listen... I'm obsessed with that.

Anyway, so if Louis shot Minerva, I think he would've accidentally killed her and can you imagine? He's already enough of a mess after killing the woman who pinned him down and tried to cut his finger off [or succeeded] but he knew Minerva, they were friends before the twins were taken. Even Violet couldn't kill her even though that would've been the smarter thing to do, and we know thanks to meta knowledge that killing her would've saved lives, but Violet couldn't, and I don't think Louis would intentionally either.

Speaking of Violet, if Louis killed Minerva, I hate to think about what that would've done to Vi. I think she might've actually left at that point, like what was planned before it got changed to her being burned. I don't think she would've attacked Louis over it, though, like yeah she attacked Clementine in the cell but Louis? I don't know, but I don't think so just because it's Louis and he'd be a mess about it anyway.

Though if he did kill her, it would be a neat parallel to draw... y'know, because Louis forgave AJ for killing Marlon even though he was pissed and heartbroken, and Violet was annoyed with him the entire time... but could she ever forgive Louis for killing Minerva? Y'know? We already have a similar parallel with AJ shooting Tenn, but still.

If Clementine killed Minerva in that moment, though, then I could see Violet attacking her since in her eyes, Clem proved her right.

So yeah, I get why they added the Dorian kill to his route. It adds another compelling element to Louis as a character, but we also need Minerva alive for episode 4; Louis can't kill her, he can't miss, and he's not going to stay with her because we need Violet to stay on the boat and him to be on shore for all routes.
