And Ambessa had nothing to say to Mel about her powers having visibly awakened? Even when Mel offered to go with Ambessa, giving her the ultimate opportunity to make Mel a weapon for real? And Ambessa made no attempt to find or retrieve Mel - not just her daughter and the remnants of the family Ambessa professes to love, but also her ultimate weapon - when she disappeared? And Ambessa trusted Singed and Viktor on their home turf - neither of them hiding how insane and self-serving they are with every reason to take over Ambessa's soldiers or just blatantly turn on her as soon as it benefits them - more than she trusted Mel? While Caitlyn (and by extension Piltover) was visibly and clearly falling away from Ambessa's teachings before Ambessa's eyes? (as if getting rid of certain people allows piltover to get rid of fascism but we won't get into All That)

Not only do I struggle to be hyped for Mel's powers beyond how amazing and beautiful she looks, but I can't help but feel like Mel is somehow less powerful in season 2 than she was in season 1, and not in an interesting way. As if Mel's ability to bend all of Piltover politics and economics to her will in season 1 now means nothing in season 2? You can argue that Jinx's attack led directly to Mel losing ground in Piltover - because I expected Mel to have to claw back that power without being able to rely on people who are too easily seduced by Ambessa and authoritarianism, and she would have to get creative to go toe to toe with her mother. I expected pushback to her mage identity that she would have to navigate. But instead this went either unwritten, or was ignored or discarded. Instead Mel is removed from the main plot, cutting her off from what made her the most interesting - only for all of Mel's very real talents, her very real powers and abilities, to be not only translated but REPLACED with magical powers she doesn't know how to control, and by the finale, those magic powers are the only powers that are considered real. Mel takes a backseat to Piltover's governing and decisions, a backseat to Jayce of all people who was not only new to politics mere months ago but made poor governing, strategic, and diplomatic decisions when he had that power. In season 1 Mel stayed off the "throne" but she did pull its strings one way or the other, and she makes no attempt at this in season 2

In my least generous suspicions, Mel was gentled and quieted to capitulate to an agenda for other characters who had to be correct and heroic - or wrong and villainous - no matter what the leadup narrative said, given her powers to help sell the game and set up future shows, and was effectively ejected from the Arcane story with faceless soldiers and a role she doesn't want because she was inconvenient there

What if his normal life is akin to that of heroes where he has to pretend to be something he's not and follow rules that the people who control his life came up with to further their own goals. What if he can only be free of other people's beliefs and expectations when he's a hero.

What if in reality he truly is like everyone else. The other heroes. The ordinary people. All those who work themselves to the bone, who are tired and overworked and sick of all the exploitation...

What if when he's in the form of the number one hero.. when he becomes the most sought after product on the hero market..

Is when he gains the freedom to truly be himself

Seeing all these other pwASPD talk about how they hate socializing because they don't care about people's drama and they think it's all stupid is so interesting to me. I also dislike socializing, but like I DO wanna hear the drama. It has to be interesting, but I like sitting back and listening to these crazy-ass stories. It's entertaining as hell, and also saves me from the agony of trying to come up with a non-canned response for small talk.

I’ve been thinking about them (🙄) and the fact that I feel like dan is much more socially *perceptive* but phil a bit more socially *capable* because he seems to be more easy going and can just rawdog it on whimsy whilst dan perceives too much to be at ease (but when he is, probably a great friend)? Idk their social dynamic is so interesting to me cause as a dan someone like phil would make me feel soooo safe socially

i think phil's quite socially perceptive as well though, he just doesn't overthink those things as much as dan does. it seems like phil's more at ease with acquaintances and friends (ones they aren't super close to i mean) and can carry a dinner conversation like nobody's business, but he gets anxious over phonecalls (mood) and talking to complete strangers. that waiter on reddit who said dan ordered for the both of them when they were at her work makes so much sense to me lmao, i would bet he does that often. not that dan loves talking to strangers either, but if phil hates it ofc dan's gonna step up. dan says he's good in crisis situations because he just locks in and focuses on what needs to be done which helps him stay calm and efficient, and i think that kind of applies to interactions with strangers as well, whereas if it's people he knows and has to see again he's like oh god if i say something wrong or awkward it's so over

there's also dan's desperate need for everyone to like him, i don't think phil's all that bothered lmao. phil's more of a 'if you don't like me that's your loss' type of person, cause like he's so nice the chances are if someone doesn't like him it probably isn't his fault 😭 and he has no interest in keeping relationships with people if they don't really vibe with him

I lay awake at night and think about the visuals of 265 and one part I can't get over is how when Yuji talks about when he was little he dropped some slime, it got dirty and he tried washing it off but it went down the drain and he cried about it. And while, I know, it's funny and it foreshadows Sukuna's end, I'm like feeling something seeing how clever this scene is drawn.

While Yuji is reminiscing about slime he lost, Sukuna is standing what looks to be a cage. That's open! When you think about this relationship and what Yuji says here it's like a "ooooooh" moment.

Sukuna is reduced to, well, slime as he rejects Yuji's offer to live among him (possessing his body) again. To Sukuna, Yuji was his cage.

And when he was reduced to that blob, Sukuna rejects being caged again and Yuji is seen upset as Sukuna fades into nothing.

But the thing is, that was the better outcome for both of them. In Yuji's case, he didn't have to be a cage anymore to Sukuna and Sukuna, in the afterlife, accepts his defeat and chooses to go a different path. At the end, both of them got to choose what they wanted for themselves.

What I loved about Cinderella's Castle is it is so entirely about Ella. We know starkid can handle a show with tons and tons of characters but I found it quite refreshing for it to be so wholly her story? I think it was a lovely choice for this show and man Bryce did such a perfect job of it, she is truly such a star
