(Opinion) stolas hate is based on fandom misinterpretations and not the actual show because when the fuck does he act like a “baby”??

Stolas is probably the most over-hated character in all of helluva boss. And some of the downright incorrect statements i’ve seen about stolitz drive me insane

Despite his childhood abuse, neglect and forced marriage, stolas has always been privileged. He’s set for life with wealth, has butlers and staff who feed him and care for him, and can freely travel through the human realm with no legal issues. Obviously, he’s going to have a skewed perspective on life.

Because of his forced marriage and parental neglect, stolas has never really known what love is meant to be. His father didn’t know his name because he’s a king who has a shit ton of children. Stella never loved him, and he never loved stella. They were only married to have an heir. Stolas has an over-dramatized and romanticized interpretation of love, which i think is where the ‘baby’ misinterpretation roots from. Blitzo didn’t want to fuck him, all he wanted was the grimoire. But stolas didn’t realize this and genuinely believed that his first ever friend was the one who wanted him the most. Can you see how this would fuel his romantic dreams further?

Stolas, to me, was always in love with blitzo. And (hot take incoming) did not look down on him. “But charlie, what about when he said ___?” We can go through all the quotes that supposedly look down on blitzo and i can give my reasoning as to why i dont think he sees him as lesser. Stolas has grown up with imps his whole life (butlers), and it can be argued that these staff had a closer connection to him than his own family. He’s taught to view imps as lesser, as in the hierarchy they literally are, but stolas has no issue with interacting with imps and, of course, letting an imp have intercourse with him. If stolas truly looked down on imps the way people act like he does, he’d interact with blitzo in a COMPLETELY different way. As in, he wouldn’t even treat blitzo like a human. Stolas loves blitzo so much he want to be his partner.

I will say, Hierarchy is a major theme in helluva boss with several callouts to how the ones who are higher up mistreat the lower class. Just look at mastermind. Satan doesn’t let blitzo speak. But andrealphus is allowed to talk as long as he wants. Blitzo would’ve been killed for using the grimoire, but stolas just gets a punishment. Because verbatim “your life has actual value!” It’s such an interesting theme that does not nearly get as much praise as it deserves

Another huge misinterpretation with helluva boss i see is that people think the show is trying to normalize cheating. And i’ll be honest, i can kind of see how this misinterpretation happens. As much as i adore this show, there are some writing flaws.

In my opinion, helluva boss is not trying to encourage cheating on your partners. It’s trying to show you that it’s okay to leave your abusive relationships to better your life. I may talk about this a different time because this post is mainly about stolas but god i love analyzing this show so much i just go on so many tangents.

Of course, stolas’ love for blitzo pisses of Stella. Not because stella actually loves stolas, but because she is proud to be a goetia and wants to uphold her royal, priviliged status and sees stolas as an insult to the goetic line. Her and Andrealphus’s motivation is to uphold goetia standards no matter how corrupt they truly are. They’re rich people. THEY are the ones who see imps as lesser.

there's a few blogs that inspire me that i have gotten to write with, and it's just because i am enjoying the content that's being put out. there's also a lot of people here who are just so downright creative whether that pertains to character graphics, the way they write their characters ect. @sm4llville (once again sorry for the callout big, is one of those people who really gets that clark kent interpretation, y'know?? also i have only gotten to know them briefly but @loisl4ne with her interpretation of THAT lois lane from that show?? we love smallville here, i will tolerate no hate. jks you can be critical of the show but smallville has importance here.

going over towards the marvel side, it's been really cool seeing all these different takes, the way people have tailored all these characters in a way that's true to them but also adding a touch of themselves. gonna say just say point blank that i am still new to comic books so the mcu has honestly been my gateway to marvel but seeing @startaxian (astro) and @kingspartax (eli's) take on peter quill / star-lord has been such a joyride. i really love peter quill and i'll always get excited about new portrayals that take him further and beyond with what the mcu originally did for him because he such a fun character that deserves the world. @fntstic, @soulbarer and @diam1nd are also always just a positive space on my dash. like i said, don't know much about marvel characters outside their visual media appearances so i have been learning a lot just through their portrayals and dior (i really am loving all the fluffy shenanigans booster and emma are going through even if they are really slow and drawn out from my end)

taking it over to the dc side of things, @rotinto's take on poison ivy is so much fun with all their aesthetics and the prose being used in their writing. there was a lot of thought there with your portrayal and she's just so great, cunning, sultry and all those things i love about her and i do love the little horror you have incorporated all around. i am just having a blast with the little thread thing we have going on. it's campy, and a very booster coded encounter. few blogs that i also follow / have just started following but will get a shoutout because: @supurman, @identitysolved, @themiscira, @bruz3r i actually dont follow many dc blogs?? rip. the fandom is pretty tiny.

i think three things happen with that awful eddie characterization one people who come to the fandom through fics and didnt really bother fully watching the show just edits and fanfic i have seen people admit they just watch edits and want recs of fanfics because they dont want to bother with the show which is like is so insane to me like how can you really get invested in characters and in relationship watchin half a minute edits of scenes disconnected but anyway thats another topic, second despite 911 being the show of second opportunities and every main couple being a second chance love there still people so obsessed with the first love thing and making buddie being each other first love ,specially from eddie side with the he never really loved shannon thing again weird obssesion for fans of a show with a major topic about how you can fall in love again many times and how you have to make it choose every day to work on it (one of the things that makes buddie compelling they build it ) and finally again related to previous points people forgetting sexuality is a spectrum and multilples things can be true at the same time so the only choice for eddie is to be gay oh and HE MUST have internalized homophobia soooo much of it because he is latin texan catholic boy theres no other way

I mean, yeah, people are engaging with fanon Eddie only. And like, even the whole "Eddie catholic guilt is forcing him to pretend he's not gay because it is a Sin" is crazy because Eddie is shown as at least agnostic if not full atheist. Yes, he has the issues but we have Zero indication that that translated into any homophobic tendencies. And yes, insisting that he has soooo much internalized homophobia because of it is not backed by canon. Eddie is queer and doesn't know it. Sometimes people take years to figure it out. No one questioned Buck not knowing, but Eddie has to know and be representing it and hate himself for it and it's so weird.

And honestly, yeah, people have this obsession with first loves are the only ones that matter even tho every single main couple of the show in their second chance at love, so Eddie can't have loved his wife and mother of his child, he has to hate ever women ever and date only because society forces him to be A Man and find A Good Woman. It's crazy work. It's fully mischaracterizing Eddie and everything that happened to him. People are fully pretending stuff didn't happen to force an interpretation. Or fully misconstructing what did happen. People use Eddie being gay to justify everything and it really takes away from everything he is. To use Eddie is gay, knows it, and is repressing to justify everything Eddie does is the most boring interpretation of the character possible. It's almost bordering on confirmation bias at this point. People want him to be this gay man who's drowning in machismo and internalized homophobia so bad that they keep pretending that what he does fits those boxes instead of actually seeing what's happening to him. It's infuriating.

It's same with trying to shove buddie into the grumpy/sunshine trope while pretending Eddie is the grumpy one, who's bad with words and is only nice to Buck when Buck is the attack dog and Eddie befriends everyone. People decided on an Eddie who's bad with words and feelings and repressed to the core and it's just not who he is. It drives me MAD.

Ever since it was confirmed that Si-eun and Su-ho were actually in love, reactions online — especially on TikTok — have been really mixed. Some people are happy about it, while others seem disappointed or try to downplay it, saying their bond was just platonic or a strong friendship. I even saw someone say it was “stupid” and just fanservice.I’m honestly confused. Didn’t the director say something about them playing it like a melodrama? it’s been years since I first watched the series. Back then, I shipped them so hard, and I was so excited when Season 2 came out.Now that I’ve rewatched it ( as i got older), I’ve started noticing all the subtle queer undertones — like that moment when Su-ho was in the hospital after he got hurt. He said, “What is this feeling?” and then added something like, “The way you talk, move, your face — it makes me cringe.”. It felt like he was overwhelmed by feelings he didn’t quite understand. Or " were we married "The way the camera focuses on Si-eun watching Su-ho with so much quiet attention… it felt intimate. Romantic, even. Like a quiet kind of awe.And then that last scene where he opens the door before saying " see you tommorow. It didn't feel platonic at all Sorry, I’m rambling. Online reactions to SHSE being canon: Yes i've seen a fair bit of online public being upset over it too. I'm afraid this is a very common reaction to any queer ships in fandoms these days (wenclair from Wednesday, jayvik from Arcane etc). When aziracrow from Good Omens was confirmed canon in the show with a whole kiss scene, a lot of first reactions were downright hateful. The public had the same reaction to SHSE being canon: Why did they have to make them gay/queer? Can't they remain close friends? The source material did not dictate this -> All of these were said even though the co-author of the Good Omens novel and showrunner of the series, Neil Gaiman (bleugh another story) greenlit aziracrow's relationship being romantic. Sounds familiar? Bet.

Back to WHC, whatever the public's reasons are, we cannot dispute words said by the cast and directors. We can read a lot of their interviews as ambiguous, but what the director says in the WHC2 play-by-play review "(수호) 시은이의 첫사랑", literally and simply means, "(Suho) is Sieun's first love". I cannot make this shit up and I have a conversant grasp of Korean. I've gotten used to and tired of to this portion of public, which in turn is pretty fucking tiring as a queer.

Queer undertones in WHC: BET. Queer overtones, in fact. I think everyone who watches it and feels that SHSE are more than friends, have different interpretations of how they came to be. The most important aspect is that all paths still lead to the conclusion that they love each other romantically and platonically. The parts you point out, they are valid evidence! So valid they're used in every SHSE edit out there. Though, I especially agree with you on the "see you tomorrow" sequence. There is just too much tension in the air to wave it off. The way they're looking at each other is so contradicted with pain and sacrifice specific to the flavour of love, all for the sake of protecting each other.

Conclusion:

We can't ship fictional characters anymore because we're making them gay even if the directorial board says they'll start tonguing each other in the next episode. Homophobia and allergic to fun, really.

And wrt fanservice, as someone online that's snarkier than I am said in a response/comment: Yes and I'm the fan being serviced. Keep this party going.

Fanfiction isn't about what's canon or strictly in character thats why they're called transformative works. Who cares what happens in the comics. The comic themselves don't care what happens in other comic runs unless it's specifically meant to be a spin off/continuation.

I know y'all have washed him of all the ambiguity bc ppl have told you that how ur supposed to approach fiction and y'all can not perceive a protag who might not be the best person who ur also NOT supposed to hate (god forbid a protag not have Jesus adjacent morality) but thats what he is. I'm not against queer ships but you guys do realize MHA is shounen, right? It was also serialized in Jump. Gay ships were never going to be canon in such a series. And I have to say that Ochako and Izuku were like the most obvious ship to be setup and become canon. The writing was very straightforward in that department.

I like Bakudeku but Bakudeku is tame compared to other shounen rivals and shounen duos in other storie and mangas out there. By 'tame' I mean they don't even have half of the chemistry or tropes most other shonen duos have (heck at the end Hori made sure to even degrade Bakudeku further by disproving major fandom takes like them being heroes or forming an agency together, Izuku just rejects his offer at the end and then we see him chase after Ochako.)

If you want to have more queer writing and narratives, you should follow other stories that are more likely to have queer characters, writing and narratives in their stories. Because Shonen, especially Jump, just won't change for the better any time soon.

- The sexualization 🔞

I would argue that the sexualization of these two are *almost* to the same level Toy Chica is and im so tired of it. Because of the overwhelming amount of it. You cannot search up their names without something suggestive popping up, on any platform. I fear that im looked as one of the people that sexualize them to high heaven because of the overwhelming amount of fans that do. and theres alot of people who are uncomfortable with it period and cannot get away from it. because of them we ALL look like gooners. thats not even mentioning the amount of nsfw accounts ive had to block ever since i started posting them more consistently. and they were all dca centered. its gross and it just uncomfortable. a heavy part of the issue is also the abundance of vrchat models of them. most, if not ALL are sexualized in some way. ive seen so many with higher proportions, ripped to have ‘assets’ added, for fucks sake someone enabled one of those assests in front of CHILDREN in a public lobby. makes the character unappealing too with how everyone sees him

I think the first red flag was it being made only 3 months after Security Breach first released. Im not gonna get into its personal drama as i truly just dgaf but this isnt about that. Its how its affected the characters so lets start. The show gets their characters COMPLETELY wrong, its just oc’s with the name plastered on it. And the amount of stupid characters are introduced makes it hard to make custom designs and search up certain ones, such as jack o moon. The show has caused a complete misunderstanding of their character, some starting to believe that is just the undeniable canon. ive seen people get harassed over “hey this is incest” on a sunxmoon post. when its not. Ive also had my friends who do impressions be harassed to do these characters that they dont know. and have had friends who draw needing to clarify it isnt tsams. or to draw it. its obnoxious. not to mention its crawling with creeps and an unsafe enviorment for kids. i was sent death threats trying to expose those creeps that still walk away scott free today. which irritates me. also the show just sucks lol its just content farm slop? stop hyping it up? its been two years with daily nonstop.

ok. im not gonna name names. but 90% of fan models have ruined peoples perception of how they are designed flawlessly. and the over abundance of these models have also inbred even worse ones. i honest to god think these models started some of the biggest stereotypes when it comes to the fanart. the sharp teeth, the long hat, the petals, the claws, the paws, all things that originated from the models. makes me upset because it gets to a point where all these attributes make the design stray farther and farther from what they originally are (along with the personalities deteriorating) makes them completely different people. i have a mutual that has taken these and made their own oc based off of it and its awesome.

hi anon! ive got a lot to say on this, so im gonna break it down into a few bullet points for ease of reading!

asexuality is a spectrum! & even those who are explicitly asexual as alastor is exist on a spectrum as well! not all asexuals are sex-repulsed.

alastors asexuality is open to interpretation! u seem to read him as sex-repulsed, which is totally valid! however, that isnt actually explicitly stated in canon. i personally see him as sex-neutral, though ive also written him as sex-favorable before. the only scenes in which sex is brought up in relation to him are others coming on to him, which anyone of any sexuality can take issue with. i personally see him as not enjoying unexpected sexual advances, especially from people he doesnt know well (as was the case in every advance made on him in the show).

asexuals can & do have sex for a multitude of reasons! maybe its just another form of intimacy they like to share with a partner. maybe it just feels good and they enjoy the sensations, despite not experiencing sexual attraction. maybe its just that they still can get aroused without being attracted to anyone (a totally natural & common occurrence) & theres someone they trust to help them deal with that. whatever the reason, asexual ppl dont need to justify themselves or be made to feel like it invalidates their sexuality.

a good, well-written character is multifaceted! the source material doesnt give us every little detail of alastors innermost thoughts & feelings. it gives us a jumping-off point. hes asexual, he doesnt like when people make advances on him. does it mean he would never have sex? not exactly! perhaps he prefers to be the one to initiate. or it could only be with someone hes grown quite close to & trusts a lot. if u read my fics, ull find that deep trust is always a necessary & important part of alastors sexual experiences with others.

nothing in life is truly black & white! i truly dont mean to come off insulting, but this kind of disregard for nuance speaks to u being rather young, & the world does seem a lot simpler when ur still a kid. as u grow, ull find that people are very complex, & so is identity & self-expression. a good character is also complex, not so polarizingly one thing or another. there is room for nuance in all things, & its a very important part of media analysis & literacy!

canon makes for a great base, but its not the end-all-be-all! will alastor have sex with anyone in canon? probably not! but im not working for vivziepop, im working for me! i like to explore alastors character in a lot of ways; it just so happens that bottom alastor week was focused on the sexual side of things! ive also explored his gender (hes genderfluid to me, but that canon-noncompliance must be ok to u!), his feelings on romance (plenty of softer fics exploring demiromanticism, which while not canonized, is how i see him as a demiromantic myself), & even his potential past traumas (cant wait to drop the ptsd fic hehe). most fanwork is not canon-compliant, but we put our hearts & souls into it all the same.

fandom is meant to be fun! relax, live a little! ppl will see the same character differently & thats fine! if ur view is that hes strictly sex-repulsed & doesnt even want to hear the word sex, thats just as fine & valid as anything ive written! spreading hate only discourages writers & artists from creating, & what fandom benefits from less fan art & fic?

lastly, this is actually the first time ive ever received a comment like this! unfortunately, it really wont stop me from continuing to explore alastors asexuality in all sorts of situations, just as i explore the rest of his character! its quite clear u havent actually read my alastor fics, so im going to leave u with some recent comments from ppl who have! :)

Why i dont actively ship PPGxRRB:

I'm scrapping my drafted essay post about this for now because its really uncalled for and unnecessary. IDK sorry to anyone who looked forwards 2 it, but i just dont think i illustrate my point very well and more than half of it is lowkey a biased vent post and pure rambling. Either way this is the TLDR for the post you'll never see LOL.

But actually, I do ship PPGxRRB, i've just drifted away from it over the years. I think one of the biggest 'problems' i have with PPG x RRB is mainly with the portrayal of it. My main issue is with how a lot of people mischaracterize the RRB/PPG and completely deconstruct them as characters so that they can be love interests for the eachother and nothing more. One of my points in my scrapped post was that; I have no idea how an entire fandom managed to gender-bend the Bechdel test, but it is rare that i find PPGxRRB media where the RRB have actual lives, interests, hobbies, and friends that have nothing to do with the PPG. Half the time they can barely have a thought if it isn't about the PPG. As i said, Gender-bent Bechdel test.

Another point was that: ppgxrrb has gained a horrible reputation for itself over the years. Back in its "Glory" days, Toxic fans of the ships had bulldozed anything that differs from their favorite empty dynamics. Those usually being The Reds, Blues, and Greens. Nowadays i still see almost nothing in the realms of variety between creators interpretations of the ships. Almost every time i see a PPGxRRB post, it can fit into a set dynamic that the ship is already infamous for.

I want to be able to see the creators love and passion for their ships. I want to know how and why these characters ended up together. If a story is to be told, i want to hear it. I know that the majority of PPGxRRB creators are, by default, amateurs (they dont get paid and its not on a professional scale), but after seeing the exact same badly written love story hundreds , maybe even thousands of times with little-to-no variety, I've gotten bored and tired of people devaluing my favorite characters to be nothing more than overplayed dynamics and shipping fuel.

A lot of people like shipping because of the dynamics, but ship dynamics don't hook me in, and ive noticed that most PPGxRRB stuff is purely ship dynamics and nothing more. Theres nothing wrong with loving ship dynamics or being drawn to ships for their specific dynamics! I just dont care about dynamics, i care about chemistry and story. But most amateurs cant effectively show the chemistry or write the story, a lot of them can barely characterize the 2 characters in their ships.

FYI this isnt about anyone specific or even many recent fans of PPGxRRB. I've been in/around the online PPG fandom since before 2016, and a lot of my thoughts/feelings on the matter have a lot to do with stuff that happened over the years i've loved this series, and more specifically, The RowdyRuff Boys.

To be clear: When i say that they are mischaracterized, i'm not talking about HC's. I'm just tired of seeing the PPG and RRB dulled down into one-note personalities with stereotypical characterization and almost always no tangible character development. A love story is still a story, and a lot of shippers seem to half ass the "story" for favor of the "love".

I dont hate or even dislike PPG x RRB. I'm just really tired of rarely seeing people do the RRB justice, and i want these characters to be treated with the full respect that i think they deserve.

I don't know what I felt about Bakugo, like I see that I don't really hate him, I just find him annoying at times, there are times when I agree that there are times when the hate he receives is a bit exaggerated, like when you relate him to Endeavor, like you're relating him to someone who committed human trafficking. Like I think he has potential, but first he should face the consequences and then maybe he could start to improve as a person. I even like to see him being a good friend to Izuku, but I don't know. What do you think about the hate that Bakugou receives from a part of the fandom?

I can see where you're coming from, but honestly, it doesn't seem harsh to me to compare bakugo and enji depending on the circumstances.

Yes, bakugo and enji share characteristics. Whether those are good or bad is up to the reader to interpert.

I say this because when Canon points out the similarities between enji and bakugo, it paints it out as a good thing, so having people twist it around and interpret it in a different manner makes complete sense to me (as I have done it before).

However, I personally haven't said that bakugo did do the same things as enji or is just as bad as enji. I also haven't seen multiple posts say that as well. Most of the posts that talk about bakugo and enji point out the fact that if bakugo continues down the path he is going, he will end up like enji desperate to win and ultimately throw his life away.

I make my opinion clear on one of my other posts, and the asker themselves also acknowledges that it's people LIKE bakugo and enji that are shown to create abusive and rather fuel societies corruptions (in the end they are alone effected by it)

Yes, in the end, bakugo hasn't reached enji's level, and he has the chance to have a proper redemption arc, but Canon never gives him that. He has potential, yet it's never achieved.

The bakugo and enji comparisons are in a way crucial to bakugo's character to truly paint him as who he is, and then having bakugo and enji become contrasts would ultimately show bakugo's change, breaking the cycle and trying to become a better person. I think ignoring and trying not to point out these parallels within the series does more harm than good (as shown in Canon).

We share similar views when it comes to bakugo. I think that if he was written well and actually got proper consequences, he could have gone down a slow but steady road of redemption where he changes and becomes a better version of himself. I have talked about the wasted potential of bakugo 👇 and I still stand by these ideas. I just don't like the execution of his redemption arc in Canon at all

To answer your question, tumblr is literally the only site I actually see bakugo hate and criticism, which, to me, says a lot. Bakugo hate isn't something huge in other platforms such as Twitter, reddit, or tiktok maybe it is but honestly iam not exposed to bakugo hate it's mostly bakugo die hard stans I see which can get annoying sometimes as they deny certain things their favourite character has done.

While it is few, I have seen times in tumblr where I think the bakugo hate just got petty. This is usually when you have people misspell bakugo's name as "bakuhoe" or some other cringey variation, which ruins the point that the person had to say about bakugo. I think that wishing the character would die can also be a bit extreme (yet bakugo isn't a living, breathing human, so i dont find myself caring about such hate)

In the end, it is a vocal minority specifically seen here on tumblr that hates bakugo or actively points out his flaws, which is a shame because I think he is quite overrated and just has wasted potential.

Augh god fuck man Ayano's whole deal has felt so different to me as an asexual who doesn't like kids and isn't in contact with exes or my brother, but the latest comic.... Girl I get you so hard now. The instinct to care so much about other people not only do you forget to take care of yourself, you just start unconsciously expecting them to do the same for you.. and the realization that these people in your life care about you when you aren't around, that the things you say and do matter to them, that *you* matter to them,even when you don't matter to yourself...... Ayano let's go to therapy together and learn to care about ourselves the way we care about the people in our lives (I say to a fictional character whose entire ordeal I'm relating to is happening in a fan work)

In all seriousness though great comic and absolutely phenomenal writing! I started kind of hesitant bc I didn't agree with all of the character choices, but I'm so happy I stopped being nitpicky because I adore this comic <3 I've come to really enjoy and appreciate the characterizations I initially wasn't sure about, and I love love love the way you're handling all of the dynamics between everyone, especially with how grounded it all feels given the universe they're all from. This is one of the few comics I'm always checking for updates and even when they take longer to happen I always know it's worth it for the quality content. thank you!!! people relating to these situations or feeling better about their own situations reading the comic was like. very unexpected to me lmao but im also a very avoidant person and think i can interact with stuff without involving myself as a person in it because consuming media/making fan content is my way of disconnecting from my world (guy who hated steven universe future when it came out for literally no reason. years later i realized oh there was a reason. oh it was because of my... of my issues as a person. oh i get it. anyways i love u now su future!)

with that, it also makes sense we all have different interpretations and nitpicks. boy do i get you! im insane abt kagepro and i get very particular about it too but we HAVE to accept the different ways of seeing characters and then we'll get surprised and get our views enriched too! for example some of my favorite kagepro fanfics are by winterhats on ao3 yet i dont always agree with the characterizations. but i still loved reading and where they were taken. idk. that kind of thing is the most wonderful about fandom spaces.

besides, a 10 year timeskip? girl that's. a long ass time. these characters could be ANYWHERE after all that time. the longer we make a timeskip to make headcanons, the more freedom from the original, if that makes sense. like, this is My ayano interpretation, yet someone else can have an ayano interpretation where she's like "adopting 3 children before age of 25? that's crazy i should go to therapy first!" and they'd be right too and id enjoy it too because we can analyze ayano in a million different ways and make her go a million different directions and THAT'S what's so fun about this! i could also write a separate fanfic where things went differently and they'd all probably act different too because. well. she's fictional. we can just put her in different situations and write long posts about why that'd make her act this very specific way this time.

we don't know exactly where she'll go after summertime record because it was not written. the story is over and so are the characters. that's it because they served the storytelling purpose.

its hard being an elriel. you can't enjoy this ship without people screaming in your ear about dumb reasons why they "dont" make sense. I don't see anyone hating when someone mentions elucien or gwynriel.

I mean, EL/GA gets its own hate for sure, and I'm not exempt from making catty remarks either but it is definitely more for Elriel because you are fighting two sides as opposed GA/EL with only one.

But what gets me is aside from all the catty marks and hate is that you really can't compare Elriel and GA/EL with the amount of scenes and build up. EL at least has the basis of a mate bond (which is all they have imo) but GA have nothing that you couldn't get from two other characters interacting regularly in the series.

Antis can say that Elriel won't go anywhere ultimately, fine but it IS the gaslighting that we read all their scenes wrong and we just misinterpreted it or ACSHULLY all the scenes Elriel had together shows how bad that for each other ACSHULLY and that's...just not the case. People can have their "interpretations" but some things really are cut and dry no matter how much they try to twist it.

And that's really where the rub comes from tbh. Ship EL/GA by all means, even after Elriel is confirmed, but don't sit there and try to tell the fandom how wrong and dumb they are for picking up on the most obvious (SJM SAID it was) pairing of Elriel and not the super special hidden crumbs of pairings that takes 5 BCs, TOG, Cassian's cum, and all this willful obtuseness and purposeful misinterpretations to understand.

It's also the fact that mostly when Elriel's disprove anti takes, we can pull screenshots from the books directly counteracting their point while most of their "rebuttal" power points is just their own feelings on the matter and taking a cherry picked sentence and twisting it, imo.

My two cents as a huge Feyre stan, I mostly lurk bc there’s no real point in engaging with the acosf/n-sta stans that twist everything about feysand/the IC.

the haters dominate the fandom space partially because everyone who loves feysand are pretty happy with the books themselves and don’t have to theorize or argue comparatively because the books don’t really have tons outstanding for them. Like beyond the tease of feysand as high king/queen, there’s not a ton that could be upcoming that would change significantly their place in the series and world.

It’s also just exhausting to argue things that are just so obviously untrue like “Feyre isn’t a real high lady” or “Rhys is mind controlling Feyre and wants to control her because he’s the ultimate villain” with people who don’t care about the facts since these takes come from their vibes or wants rather than authorial intent or canon scenes.

obviously we know the majority of acotar readers and fans don’t think Tamlin was misunderstood and feysand are evil war criminals but you’d think that if you just entered into the fandom spaces like Reddit. My irl friend read the books recently, saw the Reddit and noped out immediately.

while some people in the fandom are focused on things they like and positives, the fandom as a whole is so crazy and out of touch that it alienates a lot of people who liked the books. So we just don’t bother.

but polls from the publisher that people who love acotar follow because the enjoyed the books a lot, that’s so different. Even the comments on the ig posts are hugely different from the polls because why would many people want to get involved in that mess? I’m not going to argue on my ig where people could see my name/profile with someone delusional enough to say Elain didn’t kill the king or Gwyn cutting the ribbon is the most impactful thing in the series.

And no offense at all to elriels, I’ve noticed that elriels were giving the Gwyn/valkyrie moments more weight and thinking Nesta breaking down at the lake was a “hated” moment even when it’s written as a huge moment for her much needed growth that if you don’t hate the IC, you were rooting for.

These moments are treated so different in fandom debates and I’m not surprised that elriels would think that people generally gaf about Gwyn cutting the ribbon vs Feyre’s huge character moment in the weavers cabin that sjm said was one of her favorites and made her cry when they’re constantly being told Feyre is irrelevant now or Gwyn has “mc energy”. I think just being part of the ship war skews everyone involved’s pov because it’s an echo chamber of a very niche group of fans but also dominates the fandom experience for elriels and acosf stans, making it feel more pervasive than it is.

I mean I know a ton of people who read acotar irl and several either didn’t know acosf existed or chose not to read it. Spinoff books naturally have lower awareness and readership too and that’s before realizing that n-sta is a polarizing character that the author says was written to be unlikable before her book and also acosf switches POVs with not just new narrator but also to a 3rd pov and both those facts will turn off some fans

majority of the readers have moved on. They dont participate in discussions in the online fandom, bcs most of them dont care. They read the series, the couple got their happly ever after so there’s nothing rlly to discuss.

I think there’s a lot of factors as to why the whole “anti elriel, anti feysand, anti ic, anti NC” gang seem so popular - from their takes being unconventional, over analysising the books, wanting unpopular opinions to gain attention within the fandom, to the fact its cool now to “hate” on the main characters of the series, and because they are so loud, you’re constantly seeing their interpretations and seeing how many likes/interactions it gets giving the illusion its a popular take. But in reality, as we’ve seen, it isn’t the case at all.

casual readers aren’t constantly interacting and being active within the fandom but these haters are and so when you enter these spaces- as you mentioned reddit, and you’re just bombarded with these anti takes and seeing so many ppl agreeing can make you doubt yourself and make it seem as though their takes align with what the majority of the fandom thinks.

as someone whose part of the online fandom - Gwyns character’s importance has been blown out of proportion or as I like to call it, it felt like the fandom has been gwynified. Its all about Gwyn, acosf wS about Gwyn. Gwyn will do this and that, she’ll be Nyx’s favourite aunt, Rhysands bestie: when her moment came up in the brackets Lowkey, I definitely thought she had a high chance of winning. I was proven incredibly wrong / I don’t remember exactly, but there was a big difference in the vote with Feyre’s moment obviously taking the lead and the results of the poll reminded me that - to the main, large part of the fandom…Gwyn isn’t rlly that significant to people. So many people forgot who she even was and that was shocking to me bcs for so long it felt like Gwyn was the centre of the fandom.

The brackets are a reminder to everyone that this series is about Feyre. She is the OG. The Main character. This fandom as a whole, values the triology and OG cast more then they value or care about acosf.

and yh - you’re so valid. Being in the shipwar DOES skew how you see things. How popular and well liked is Lucien in the shipwar or even online part of the fandom? Yet none of his scened made it through showing how irrelevant his character is to the unbiased, majority of the fandom.
