In today’s episode of Disturbing Things I Notice in HOTD:

Alicent’s staring at an o*gy tapestry across the wall from Viserys’ bed when he calls her to his room and while he maritally r*pes her (we get to see that there are two tapestries on the wall facing the bed and one right above it, when Otto enters Viserys' chambers the following morning).

I am sure that every night she is there, she sees herself in the tapestry, and is made to feel like a “wh*re”, that she is somehow responsible because what is happening to her goes against all her beliefs and principles.

Can you imagine our pious Alicent having to endure such abuse and humiliation, and think to herself that she is yet another ornament for Viserys to be pleasured by, while she felt so unclean and worthless she had to atone to the seven for something that was not even her sin?

No wonder she changed the tapestries the moment Viserys became bedridden, ill, and too weak to demand intercourse from her, and replaced them with emblems of the seven, with what might actually make her feel better about herself. It’s sad because it’s yet ANOTHER cry for help, another indication that the years of abuse have left her struggling with self image and confidence, as she appears to be in control, but she’s still loathing herself because the trauma has not healed, it’s just been covered with an emotional bandage so it’s not that visible.

I cannot even begin to think how that must hurt, not letting herself be vulnerable in front of anyone, but feeling totally worthless and alone all the time.

I just want to give her a hug. </3
