Okay so this idea has been rocking around my empty skull for some time now just we know that Eddie can be a pretty mean DM and a shithead and I've been thinking abt romances in D&D and how it would work in Hellfire

And I had this thought that Eddie would like be "no romances!!" to the Corroded Coffin group (before the kids joined) and they're like why? and Eddie just to tease them says that he doesn't want to pretend to fall for their smelly ugly faces

Which just motivates them to try and seduce like every character that Eddie introduces for a fucking month and it leads to the creation of the rule: Every romance/seduction directed roll must be rolled above 15 to succeed AND if Eddie decides that the attempt is particularly bad the roll is with disadvantage

The Corroed Coffin boys are obviously teasingly like ohhh so we get an advantage if it's good?

"Doubt that would happen boys, but sure, if you make me, Eddie fucking Munson, to blush like a fair maiden then you'll get the advantage on the roll"

They try, they really do, but all the CC boys succeed in doing is killing off all of their party in three sessions and Gareth who is a little shit is actually rolling his third character (because the consequences of a failure are fucking brutal) by the time Jeff and [unnamed freak] give up

After that they know better (except Gareth who still sometimes does that just to annoy Eddie and be a little shit) to try and then the kids join Hellfire and Eddie has even less of an desire to flirt with fucking Wheeler, Henderson and Sinclair (they're baby children!!)

But the kids are a little shits too and they see Gareth being a little shit so they copy

It ends badly for them, they gripe about Eddie being unfair because like "all three of us have girlfriends Eddie and you don't so we clearly know more about romance then you do" Dustin not only gets a flick on the head for that but his character might have ended up being put into situations™ throughout the session that are "totally unfair!"

But fair to say all of Hellfire knows the rules and all of hellfire knows that no matter how well they try and how smooth they are (they really aren't ever smooth) Eddie will not blush or even consider they attempts as "good", the best they got was "tolerable" (Lucas got it and he's still very proud of it, as he deserves okay?), Eddie is impossible to fluster and so it's just is this fun thing they sometimes do when they feel particularly like little shits

And that's it about it

Until Vecna and all the upside down shit and the surprising friendship of Eddie and Steve happens

And suddenly Steve Harrington is not only sitting but playing D&D

Everything is going actually pretty good and Dustin practically vibrates out of his chair at how proud he is of Steve for how well he is doing so far and then

And then Steve tries to flirt with a pretty bard

Dustin deflates, he is ready for the absolute disaster that is going to fall upon Steve, he makes eye contact with Lucas - both of them ready with "it was actually a pretty good line tho!" at the tip of their tongues to defend Steve's decisions, he doesn't know Eddie's special rules after all and it would be funny to see Steve fail, sure, but it's Steve's first game and the kids wanted it to be good for Steve so convincing him to play again would be easier

But now Eddie is going to absolutely rip into him and Steve will never want to play again and-

"Roll with advantage" Dustin gasps, audibly, loudly, the room is silent, except for Steve who's very unaware of the chaos he just created and just rolls the dices, his usual confidence in place

And if someone looked closely - and all of the hellfire is fucking looking - Eddie Munson has indeed a light blush on his face

“Hey, Lucifer,” you say, holding something behind your back, “do you want to see a magic trick?” You step up next to him and bounce on your heels. “It’s a classic from the human world.”

Lucifer, who had just been trying to make himself some breakfast, raises an eyebrow before saying your name in a mildly annoyed tone. “You’re a sorcerer. You can do actual magic. Why would I want to see you do some crude human world trick?” He grabs a carton of milk from the fridge and closes it.

You puff out your cheeks. “Uh, because it’s fun?” Your smile doesn’t falter, but it does tense slightly.

He places the carton on the kitchen counter and rolls his eyes. “Fine, just get it over with.”

Your grin brightens up the room as you pull your arms out from behind your back. Lucifer scrunches up his eyebrows when he realizes that you hadn’t been hiding anything in your hands this entire time. You reach out behind his ear and flick your wrist.

Something red crosses his field of vision. Lucifer blinks…and blinks again. You pull out a rose from behind his ear and hand it to him. You shake the flower slightly when he doesn’t immediately reach out to take it.

Lucifer tentatively plucks the rose from your hand and stares at it. The petals are a fresh, vibrant red color, and the smell is subtle but sweet. A couple of thorns are scattered along the stem. He pokes at one with his thumb, taking note of the indent left behind in his glove.

“Neat trick, huh?” you say. You then prance out of the kitchen, leaving Lucifer alone with his thoughts.

How evil is arlecchino and what is she cooking

As of 4.2, I’m really curious what they’re planning with Arlecchino as a character, especially as a villain/antagonist/morally dubious character, and how far/which direction they may go with that

Intuitively my impression is we’ll see her do something way more “villainous” than she presents herself as being for majority of Fontaine’s AQ in front of us right—(which isn’t a surprise given that, you know, Arlecchino nor the House of Hearth have never been presented as 110% ethical LOL) but I find myself not being in complete agreement with most analysis or speculation threads I see about Arlecchino’s morality and the like, level of sinister people seem to ascribe to her.

Idk how to put it, especially in regards to her children I do agree they are not a wholesome found family, that Arlecchino is not above pulling strings or using them for her own ulterior motives, but I kind of hesitate on the idea she only cares about the Hearth children as a means to the end/things she can control and there’s nothing else going on with her characterization wise there. I’m not saying that impression seems remotely unreasonable or unfounded, but just that it feels there’s something intentionally missing in how we are supposed to conceptualize her as a person

My main reasoning for this hunch is the fact they have not elaborated on Arlecchino and the previous Knave—who Arlecchino is stated to have taken over the position from by force. The extra tidbits I think about are that 1) Arlecchino was previously an orphan in the Hearth 2) the previous Knave is described as way, way crueler to the children of than Heart than Arlecchino was from when she took control of the House

Often, people’s major indicators that the House of the Hearth is kind of super fucked up are the NPCs we meet in world quests who are part of it and clearly suffering. But one thing I haven’t ever seen people mention w this that i think is a very interesting detail is, in The Very Special Fortune Slip Inazuma worldquest, where we stop this House of Hearth guy (Efim Snezhevich) from manufacturing tension between Watasumi/the Shogunate to restart the war with his other Hearth subordinates, at the end of the quest we get this dialogue that reveals he had been acting under the previous Knave’s directives:

It’s also mentioned he’s employing this plan in an attempt to “rebuild the prestige of the Knave” following Signora’s death, iirc? Now, see, the dialogue itself says that this is “assuming our captive is telling the truth” so who knows what’s really going on, but I find this a really odd/interesting thing to highlight. I’m a bit fuzzy on other world quests with Hearth members, and am not saying none of them were acting and subsequently being treated poorly by our Arlecchino, but like, this gives me a lot of questions especially when paired with implications this previous Knave seemed to be way worse

Like, what drove Arlecchino to take over? How unexpected and controversial was this within the House? Assuming the above information is all true it definitely says something this guy went rogue and acted on what the previous Knave would want and didn’t think our Arlecchino would greenlight it, which does feel consistent with the previous Knave being described as basically worse & crueler than our Arlecchino. It also makes me question how much house of hearth things we’ve seen outside the main story are the work of our Arlecchino or if there’s a bigger divide of loyalty. Heck, I could be wrong but it doesn’t even seem like we know if the previous Knave is dead or not

This isn’t me saying Arlecchino couldn’t possibly be treating hearth children worse than she wants us to know, especially ones who aren’t her “favorites” the way the fontaine trio seem to be, but I really don’t feel sure about making a solid conclusion of her exact level of malice the way ppl r generally understanding it rn when it feels there’s going to be more about her. Just the idea of she, as a Hearth child, clashed with the previous leader who was known for being cruel, overtook their position and took on less harsh methods of leading that made at least some members with more power/possible closer proximity to the previous Knave go rogue and try to commit atrocities in the previous Knave’s name…I feel this leaves a lot of room to suggest there’s more going on with how Arlecchino is as a person

I don’t mind if she’s just very evil and deceptive bc if she totally had me fall for thinking she was less evil than she actually was that’s fun tbh. But I feel people suggest that’s all her character could be with no degree of like, “sympatheticness” or deep grey morality and that if her character did go there it would be automatically poor writing and genshin walking back on making a truly evil woman when IDK. I feel you can claim at this point they have left it open ended and it’s never been completely confirmed she’s pure evil. Also sometimes I just get a hunch and feel cautiously confident in Genshin executing certain characters well. Not all characters, just certain ones. Especially given Fontaine’s character writing being very good and a character like Lyney feeling very solid to me when any development with Arlecchino would likely involve him and his siblings as well, I honestly feel open to the idea of Arlecchino being satisfyingly written to be both villainous/morally dubious but “sympathetic/likable as a person” in ways outside of just her ruthlessness if that makes sense

If I’m wrong/they drop the ball with it more than I anticipate I’ll eat my hat but I am pretty excited about her character and which way they decide to go with it. I will say the only potential impression I have of where they’ll go with her has been wondering if it will go in a “cycles of abuse” direction—I’d be surprised if they ever elaborated on Arlecchino’s character especially in how she feels about things and her also growing up as an exploited child of the hearth wasn’t relevant

rewatching the first episode of bloodhounds and the instant connection between gunwoo and woojin has struck me all over again! I adore that gunwoo just genuinely loves boxing. This hobby-turned-passion may have started to protect his mother but it’s something he finds such solace and joy in. He truly embodies the heart-of-a-boxer mentality that he mentions on the rooftop.

You can see gunwoo be a little taken aback at the showmanship of woojin. I’d like to put a little bit of intrigue there too because it’s so different to his own serious, by-the-book style. And then after the match, when gunwoo is waiting outside the locker room and his puppy energy is just off the charts!!! he says that everyone else left :( but I think he secretly he was just waiting for woojin. And he is so eager and woojin is just staring at this kid like what the fuck? shouldn’t he be annoyed at this rookie who KO’d him? but nah how could he be when it’s so glaringly obvious that the kid loves boxing for boxing’s sake and he’s such a sweetheart.

so they get dinner!! at the barbecue buffet!! and it’s at this part that woojin’s interest is well and truly piqued. He wants to know more about gunwoo and his rapid-fire questions are his way of getting the information. the two of them bond and i gotta love sangyi’s and dohwan’s  chemistry because you can literally see their friendship come together, that bond unbreakable.

And then the next morning! I could write an entire thesis about that first morning after the match! Gunwoo immediately calls his new friend woojin and woojin answers and even when he’s so tired and he doesn’t understand just why gunwoo would go to the gym, he still picks up the phone and his little amused-- and already so fond!!!!-- “gosh, you’re so clingy in the morning” is immediately nullified whenever he tells gunwoo to come over! 

and i love that woojin rapidly and without missing a beat understands and reworks his potential first impression of gunwoo. you can literally see him decide that “idk how this kid has managed this long without me but now i’m here and i’m not letting anything hurt him.”

and just the moments later-- their married couple ass bickering the second time they go to the buffet with hyunju before they are once again a united front as they both bicker with her! 

the montage after the devastation of Episode Six-- the way gunwoo so totally loses it all, his driving need to save his hyung, the way he carried woojin’s drunk ass to bed the night before (and if i hc that woojin wasn’t as drunk as it showed? that maybe there’s a conversation that happens in that moment?). his sheer relief. the way that in the wake of everything falling to pieces, they have each other and nothing will ever come between them-- the way they’re stronger than ever.

and don’t even get me started on their time in the granddaughter’s apartment?! it’s so obvious??? the way she tells them not to be creepy old men and they’re so confused but as soon as they realize what she’s alluding to, their faces wrinkle in disgust and they’re like “lmao wtf absolutely not u don’t have to worry about that” the way they’re talking one morning and??? they don’t realize she’s in the room???? and that’s because she was ON THE TOP BUNK AND THAT NECESSARILY MEANS THAT THEY SHARED THE BED ON THE GROUND FLOOR BECAUSE HOW ELSE WOULD THEY NOT KNOW SHE SLEPT THERE??????????????

A Slime Thief

Desc: you are a new guard, you've been stationed in front of an armory where things have been going mysteriously missing. So far it's been a normal shift, but then you hear it, a weird "drip, drip, drip" sound...you look up to the vents and there's this strange...liquid? No....looks more like..slime?

reader is gender neutral, so throw your pronouns on here BBs

You watch as the slime drips down to the floor in front of the sword rack and begin take shape. The puddle transforming into a rather convincing humanoid shape...full legs, arms, is that green skin? It could pass as a human quite honestly..or maybe a weird looking elf? You shake yourself out of thought and draw your sword. The slime- person? Creature? Thief, better just go with Thief. Begins to take swords off their racks analyzing each one, like it's looking for something specific. "What the hell…" you mutter. At the sound of your voice the creature spins around revealing a rather attractive looking face...you can't quite tell if they're male or female..maybe somewhere in between? Either way- they're stealing from The Guard! "I- um- halt!" You curse yourself for stumbling over your demand. Especially when their demeanor shifts from alert to relaxed that, was definitely not the ideal reaction to being caught stealing.

"Oh...it's just you then...good, good." What?

"Do I know you?" You find yourself asking, right- probably not the right time for that...the slime lifts a finger to their chin "no...I suppose you don't really know me. But I know you~, you see, I've seen you around quite a lot, as I have with all the guards, you're one of the few that I actually like. But-" They wave their hand dismissively "-enough about that, what do they have you guarding the armory for? I suppose they've finally noticed my activities." It's not a question, and your logic is reconfirmed.

You focus on the task at hand. "So you're the one who's been stealing from the vault? Well, thank you for your confession. I need to take you in now." You silently cheer yourself for fixing your demeanor, this guy's been a pain in the ass of your Captain for months! Now you'll finally be able to take them in! But...then..why are they smiling?

"Well aren't you rude...and here I was being polite. Sorry dear, I'm afraid I can't let you do that."

The Thief rushes you, and you brace for a fight. Everything happens so fast- you raise your weapon into it's trained position, you cut forward, attempting to slice the creature in two. You succeed, the creature's body cutting like jello, but only for a second as the body reforms around the sword, effectively trapping your weapon inside of it. All at once, the slime creature laughs, moving as if your cut did nothing. They grab your shoulders and shove you to the ground, swiftly pinning your shoulders to the floor. They smirk down at you, easily removing your sword from their midsection and tossing it out of reach.

"Release me at once criminal!" You grunt, grabbing their arms in an attempt to push them off. They're clearly stronger than they look, you attempt to kick them away, only succeeding in getting your bent knee stuck in their body. They only chuckle in response to your attempts to push them off. "You're quite the fighter Newbie! I admire that. And I really don't want to hurt you on your first real assignment so....what should I do with you? Oh! I know~"

You find yourself tensing up at their sudden change in tone. Your struggles increase as you feel the cold slime trapping your knee begin to move. Seeping into the cracks between the armor to the fabric underneath and engulfing your knee, suddenly you feel..whatever it is begin to squeeze at the sensitive flesh on your knee. You jump, attempting to cover the squeak that shoots out of your throat with another yell "h-HEY! What do you think you're doING! Let me go right NOW- HEY! Cut that oUT!" You squeak again, desperately trying to keep your authoritative tone as soft strokes are added to the squeezing. It might just be the fabric, but the slime doesn't feel like slime, it feels like fingers, cold, ticklish, fingers. Squeezing right above your knee cap and moving up as the slime creature pulls your entire leg into their...torso? Honestly it's hard to tell, you're just trying to keep this annoying jerk from getting what they want- and preferably your dignity.

You clamp your mouth shut as more giggles build behind your thinning lips, desperately shoving at the slime person's shoulders. The squeezing and scribbling feeling has moved to your thigh now, your attempts to pull your leg out only succeeding in getting it further trapped in the tingly prison. You shove once more at the Thief's shoulders and once again, all they do is chuckle at you "Oh little Rookie, it's cute that you're trying, but I've seen how you and the other recruits play~ I've seen just how sensitive you are, especially when you're teased~. Why don't you make this easier for both of us and just laugh for me? You get all tired and giggly, and I complete mission with only some minor hiccups."

Your face flushes with embarrassment, they saw you? That's how they knew! You pray to the gods they didn't figure out the rest of your little secret. But damn this was NOT good. "F-fuck you!" You manage to hiss. They frown in response "my such a mouth...I thought they trained you better than that-" their grin returned and they leaned down to your ear with a whisper "-cutie~"

You felt you would implode.

That name- that secret nickname only your closest friends knew, that name that they called you that made you blush every time without fail. That name that meant that this thief knew of your biggest secret.

And here they were...voluntarily doing it...tickling you? When they could have just knocked you out and left...why?

Your thoughts were cut short by what felt like a pair of hands digging into your hips. Catching you off guard, immediately sending the trapped laughter flowing from you. Instinctively, you tried to curl into a ball to escape the tickly feeling, unfortunately your captor wasn't having any of that, keeping your leg tightly held inside their gelatinous body and shoulders gently, but firmly to the old wooden floor. "There it is!" The Thief cheered giddily "I knew that would get you, always seems to when I see you and your little friends~ now then, let's see how badly I can "wreck" you!~"

Like an over-excited child on their birthday, the Miscreant, now holding your shoulders down with what looked like two pseudo-arms, moved their real arms down to your face, teasingly wiggling their fingers in front of you menacingly, grinning even wider when they saw your reaction. They let out some giggles of their own as they put both hands on your chest plate, wiggling their eyebrows at you in an overly suggestive manner. Their hands melt over your plate and into the intersections of your armor, landing on your stomach and wriggling with purpose.

You're dropped into a heavy fit of laughter and protests. "No nonono StahahaAHAHAHAP! eek! NOoo! Plehehehese!" Was all you were able to get out as more of the slime slipped into your armor, attacking your sides, ribs, and some even crawling towards your back causing another squeal to fly from you as scribbling sensation wreaked havoc all over your midsection and shoulder blades. Your laughter going up an octave when the slime on your ribs began to gently vibrate over the bones.

And all you could do was laugh, there was no one coming to take over for you for another hour, you were too far for anyone to hear you, and there was no escaping the ticklish sensation that encompassed your body. You were effectively trapped, just you, and the Slime Thief, who seemed all too excited about tickling the life out of you, and the walls of weapons...and yet....you found yourself enjoying it- this whole situation was honestly just ridiculous, yet it could have gone so much worse. At least that's what you thought until you felt the sudden VERY raspberry like vibration on your stomach-

A squeal and snort came out this time, followed by another peal of laughter. Your arms having long since turned to jelly, weakly reaching to futilely "cover" your stomach. Your eyes began to water with mirth, as fun as this was, you weren't sure how much more you could take.

The Thief seemed to notice this as well, they'd be drinking in every little reaction you made, every giggle, snort, squeal, and especially anything that made you flustered. They smiled above you, never stopping their adoring grin, cooing over your reactions, and even cupping your face and brushing away the tears that formed.

"Oh my~ is the big bad guard all tickled out?" They teased "Aw~ poor thing. I'd love to give you a rest sweetheart, but I need a confirmation that you aren't going to say a word to anyone that I was here." Their tone shifting to a more serious note, the slime within your armor retracting to let you breathe. You took a minute to recover and think, how could you not report them? It was your job! What were you supposed to do? Say that whatever they stole just happened to disappear under your watch?? You gazed at the waiting face above you.

"I-...I...."

They raised an expectant eyebrow

"I can't. Y-you know....I can't..."

The slime thief sighed "very well.." was their disappointed response. You couldn't help but feel bad...they had been very pleasant...for a thief, you opened your mouth to give them some sort of apology, maybe even talk a compromise. But you didn't get the chance.

Slime crashed back under your armor in a wave, ruthlessly targeting all of your most ticklish places at once. You were thrown back into a squealing fit of laughter, thrashing back and forth under the playful torture. Arching your back, shaking your head, no matter how you twisted and turned, you couldn't get away. The once giddy grin of your attacker turned to a sadistic smirk. They leaned down, cupping your chin to still your head and whispered into your ear. "I don't think you quite grasp the situation here Darling. I was being nice~ but I can be cruel. And we have allll night for me to get what I want. So do you want to try that again?"

Through your endless shrieks of laughter you belted out a loud "OHOHOHOKAHAY!! OK!! OKOKOK!"

Their smirk relaxed into a smile, and once again, some of the slime retracted, though this time they left some to drill into your underarms and brush against your neck, just enough to keep you laughing.

"Ok...?"

"IhIhI wohohon't say a wohord just stAHAp!" You beg. Your answer seems to satisfy your tormentor, as they pull all of their slime back to their form. They gently pet your head, giving you a charming smile. "See now? That wasn't so hard was it?"

A tired giggle is all you can manage as you lay on the floor. It takes a while for the ghostly tickles to go away, in that time you hopelessly watch as the Thief takes a bundle of arrows, and a short sword. "That's...it?" You find yourself asking, they turn to you, gently smiling once more and nodding. "Truth be told I got most of what I need from one of your neighboring armories. I only needed one more sword and these" They hold up the quiver. Walking over and crouching beside your limp form, continuing.

"-You should really advise some more guards there, or, preferably, don't, at least tell them to restock more often. I know that the old geezer in charge has a surplus in the South." You blink in confusion too tired to really process all of what they just said. Noticing the look on your face they give you an endearing smirk. "Nevermind cutie, you just focus on resting, when your superiors ask, just say I knocked you out or something." You nod in silent agreement, rolling your head to stare up at the ceiling as you hear the sound of the vent opening and closing.

Not your worst start to a guard shift...

Green Ninja & Jade Princess

Among the Elemental Alliance, one member stands out for being "down to earth" and marketing herself to the people of Ninjago City. The Green Ninja, Master of Flora. This member's popularity would lead to a particular interest from Lloyd among his fascination with the Elemental Alliance, never knowing that the identity of his hero is his own mother.

Rambunctious, cocky, and with the mouth of a sailor that she miraculously keeps out of her public image, Koko is the youngest member of the Elemental Alliance, and thus is treated almost exclusively like a rookie. Acronix, Left hand of Time, in particular often gets stuck with her, turning eventually into a begrudging friendship. While Acronix admits that Misako has grown close to him, he also says that Koko doesn't really know him.

Around the same time-frame, Master Wu, Son of the First Spinjitzu Master, and leader of the Elemental Alliance, discovered a starving orphan girl who had broken into the Monastery of Spinjitzu desperately in search of something to placate her hunger. Motivated partly by kindness, partly by pity, and partly in envy of other child-bearing families across Ninjago city, the sensei adopted the young girl, and named her Harumi, treating her like Royalty and giving her the title "The Jade Princess" after her birth-stone.

Years would pass and the girl would grow increasingly close to Misako, almost seeing the Green Ninja as an older sister. (A bad influence that everyone else in the Elemental Alliance were eager to point out.) Desiring to imitate Koko and the others, and eager to help protect NInjago city, Harumi trained under Koko and believed herself to be ready to unlock her elemental power.

Unfortunately, elemental powers do not come to everyone. And after many increasingly dangerous attempts at unlocking such a power, A tipping point was reached when Koko began to shut Harumi out, believing that she truly was a bad influence that would only hurt Harumi in the end. Hurt that her closest friend would abandon her like that, and even more angry that her adoptive father seemed to agree with such a course of action, Harumi ran away from the Monastery, vowing to achieve her elemental powers no matter what stands in her way.

Man, I really have been holding back on the content, haven't I?

I've been really busy for the last few months and as a result all of the development I've made hasn't even made it past the thought stage. (Although the Full Story Outline document was never any semblance of complete since I first made it.)

Initially I was going to wait way longer to reveal Harumi's role in the story, (Although only about a 4th of it has been revealed thus far,) but I had the idea of making Koko a previous Green Ninja based on how she was the Lady Iron Dragon in the Ninjago Movie, and I knew that was the kind of idea that should be got out of the way early, and one thing led to another, and in fleshing out Koko's doodles I ended up finally making a reference for Harumi, and figured this wasn't a bad time to do her official reveal.

okay but barbara kean and edward nygma both started out as good, friendly people, both struggled with a darker side of themselves, both dealt with drug use and childhood abuse, both had downhill character arcs in S1 that culminated in a traumatic event triggering a mental breakdown, both became flashy villains with a flair for drama and violence, and ofc they’re both bisexual icons

my POINT is their chemistry and parallels were wasted on Ed’s revenge arc and we were robbed of them being not only an iconic power duo but also besties 💔
