Requested 📨 yes/no (for @a-court-of-roscoe-and-baby)
Premise: From the moment she could walk Y/n L/n belonged to the sea. Riding the waves that started as a hobby, only to lead her to the world’s greatest sporting stage. It would take time before her dream of Olympic Gold would happen as surfing had yet to be recognized by the IOC. But in her pursuit of becoming the greatest female surfer of all time, Y/n found who she believed was the closest person to paradise.
Note: I gotta say writing athlete/Olympian!reader imagines with the dagger squad are truly some of my favorite. Gosh I cannot wait for next year because that means…..2024 Olympics 👀 Guys I’m almost done with my semester! I have less than two weeks and all i have left to do is a paper and final project !! Almost to the finish thank goodness and then I move in with my friend before starting my summer job! Hope y’all enjoyed this work and let me know what you think!
Be sure to watch the video I linked during the Rock’s segment. I didn’t make it up it actually was a segment during the opening ceremonies on NBC’s coverage.
————————
“Is this heaven?” He laid on the surfboard beside her, feet in the water with the warmth of the sun hit his back. A cool breeze was starting to set in as the most beautiful sunset was before him, painting the sky an endless murrel of pink and orange. Only the subtle echo of the low tide filled his ears. Javy pressed his cheek onto the board, finding her smile which made his own appear at her words.
“More like paradise.”
Everyone had their own definition of paradise. Maybe it was the quiet plains of Montana or the mountains of Appalachia. Maybe it was strolling down the streets of Paris with the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Rain pouring down on New York City with a steaming cup of tea in hand or driving down the Pacific Coast Highway with “California Love” blasting through the radio. Reading a book by the fire next to their soulmate, dancing with strangers at a concert. Ask anyone what they viewed as their own personal paradise and the responses will vary.
Y/n L/n felt she was in paradise almost everyday of her life. Waking up to the view of the ocean while birds flew overhead. Feet hitting the sand as she ran to the waters with her board, anxiously waiting to ride the waves. Salt water coating skin and hair, sun beaming down.
Paradise.
From the moment she could walk the beach became her second home. Having grown up on the island of O’ahu Y/n learned how to surf before riding a bike. Her parents surfed. As did her siblings. Getting an instructor wasn’t needed with a family who knew everything there was about the art of surfing. Y/n received her first board at age four, and from then on her life was devoted to the water. Owning more swimsuits than t-shirts and shorts by the time she reached fifth grade.
She was a natural at best. Always predicting when and where the best waves would be. Timing the push up so perfect others—even her family—were unable to keep up.
“C’mon, leave some for the rest of us,” her brother would groan, missing a wave due to her swooping in at the last second. Y/n only laughed in return.
“Gotta be faster than that.”
Her parents, surfers themselves, were basically her coaches. On weekends they were waking her up at the crack of dawn, breakfast on the counter and telling her to be on the beach when she was done. Then of course she had to apply sunscreen, the substance coating every inch of her skin. Once on the beach a thirty minute run and stretching was mandatory before she could get in the water.
Skipping such a step would have her sore all night.
“We’re gonna work on your 360, cutback, and tube ride before finishing the day with cleaning up your alley oop.”
“If I don’t make a lot of mistakes can we watch Lilo & Stitch after dinner?”
“Yes, that is a fair deal.”
Mistakes? What are those? Mistakes weren’t in Y/n’s nature and if they occurred it was a rare sighting. Only time Y/n ever did mess up on a maneuver was when she was first learning it. Once she had it down it was impossible to lose.
All the friends she made loved going to the beaches after school and on weekends—getting all their homework done during the school hours so their entire afternoon was free. They signed up for competitions together, Y/n entering her first at age 14 for the 2004 Juniors season after competitions in regionals since age 11. “You’re gonna win the comp, Y/n.”
“Oh stop playing,” she brushed her best friend off, only to hear the murmurs of agreement from the rest of the group.
“I’m serious! You catch the best waves and ride them perfectly. Those judges are gonna be amazed on Saturday—I bet you’ll even get a sponsor.”
Her best friend was right. Not only did Rip Curl—THE Rip Curl want Y/n to be the face of their new campaign, but the surfing world would know her name for generations to come.
“Welcome back to our coverage of the 2004 ISA World Junior Surf Championship here in beautiful O’ahu, Hawaii here on ESPN. We’re dwindling down on the final competition with the defending champion from last year's event, sixteen-year-old Carolina Kanoa, and newcomer, Y/n L/n. If you’ve been watching the competition then you know all eyes have been on the fourteen-year-old native of Kapolei here on O’ahu, who scored the highest in her heats and received all tens in the quarterfinals after a perfect run.”
“It was quite the sight, Tom. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone so effortless in this competition. Y/n’s delivered a captivating performance each wave she’s catched—always getting the first one in her heats and pulling out a big score putting her high on the leaderboard. I wouldn’t be surprised if we see her on top of the podium today.”
“For anyone watching at home who are new to surfing or just want a little refresh on the scoring system, here is how it works: a panel of five judges determine a score one through ten, ten being the best, for each surfer on their wave based on degree of difficulty, innovative maneuvers, combination of major maneuvers, the variety of said maneuvers, and the speed, power, and flow. The highest and lowest score are thrown out leaving the remaining three, which are then averaged out. Now a surfer can catch as many waves as they please but only the two highest scoring waves will be added together to give the total score for that heat. From there competitors are eliminated until there are two finalists.”
Treading water, Y/n paid close attention to the scene in front of her. With only three minutes left on the clock, she was one wave away from crowning herself the Junior World Champion.
“Give me a sign,” she breathed in the salty air. Her thoughts were answered seconds later by a chill running down her neck, gaze snapping to the left where she saw the water draw back. Springing into action, Y/n paddled towards the forming wave, timing it at the perfect moment to end the competition on a bang. She heard the crowd cheer when she stood up, increasing each maneuver she did until finally riding out the end of the wave right as the bullhorn sounded.
Her heart pounded, “Did I just win?” Damn sure she did. Nothing could describe the feeling of holding the championship trophy at the top of the podium. And what made it ten times better, an ambassador of Rip Curl offered her a sponsorship. Before long Y/n’s name and face were plastered across all their campaigns. After winning the ISA Junior World Championships three years in a row—making her a household name in surfing—Y/n went on to senior international competitions. From there her glory only skyrocketed.
ISA World Surfing Games, World Surf League, Rip Curl Pro, Big Wave Tour, Vans Triple Crown of Surfing. Y/n’s little shelf of trophies turned into a full length china cabinet. Traveling back and forth from O’ahu to America. Sometimes even going to South America and Japan for international comps. By age 19 she had created her own maneuver earning her even more attention due to the level of difficulty.
“I don’t see what the fuss is about?” She chewed on a piece of spam, leaning her elbows on the kitchen counter. “All I did was add a couple of extra spins on my aerial.” Her mother gave her a bewildered look.
“That move in itself is difficult, Y/n. Not many perform it in competition and the fact you successfully landed one—with your little spoof nonetheless, people are gonna be amazed.”
“Well, I guess I just got lucky.”
Following high school Y/n turned professional and moved to Honolulu to attend the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa where she studied sports management with a minor in sports science. A family friend had an old Volkswagen Type 2 and Y/n was happy to take it off their hands, fixing it up to have the perfect beach van. Once classes were done for the day Y/n was packing it up with her board, cooler, boombox, and her closest friends.
“You sure this thing isn’t gonna break down on us?”
“Don’t insult Sandy. She’s as good as new,” okay that was a stretch, the van was literally 60 years old, “and I filled her up on gas this morning so we shouldn’t find ourselves on the side of the road.”
“Thanks for the confidence, Y/n. Much appreciated.”
It wasn’t uncommon for people to recognize her on campus. Having generated a public image in surfing—which many of her peers were also involved in—meant she was bound to hear, “Hey, you’re Y/n L/n?” “Oh my gosh I’ve been watching you compete since you were a junior competitor.” “Congrats on winning the Pro this year.”
There were times professors kindly asked, “Can you sign this for my kid? They’ve been into surfing lately and you’re their favorite athlete.” Taking photos with supporters happened occasionally as did giving advice to those wanting to get into surfing. It was a nice feeling for the woman to be able to inspire people and share the sport she loved.
Expanding the art of surfing to the world.
Four years of college seemed to fly by fast. Y/n was surprised she managed to pull through with a 3.6 GPA and graduate Cum Laude with everything in her life. A lot of the competitions were during the school year so Y/n had lots of work on her plate—thankfully some instructors were reasonable and allowed her to get an advance on the material. But she completed her degree with immense relief, aiming to get a career in sports going either by becoming a trainer or manager following her retirement from surfing.
“Y/n, It’s so great to see you again this year at the World Surf League World Championship. You recently graduated from the University of Hawai’i, you’re set to compete in today’s finals to defend your title—how many would this be for you? Number seven?”
Y/n chuckled with the reporter, brushing away a stray piece of hair. “Lucky number seven, yes. I’m so happy and grateful to be competing today—excited to hit the water and try to catch the best waves possible. Regardless of the outcome today I’m just really happy to be here again. I always look forward to this time of year—being able to compete and after working so hard in school this last semester, it’s definitely a relief to not have to worry about finishing a paper last minute once this comp ends.”
“There’s been recent talk of surfing possibly becoming an Olympic sport after much demand following the London Games this year. What are your thoughts? Do you think it’ll be featured in Rio and if so are you going to try and make the team?”
Since becoming a professional sport in 1959 following the first West Coast Surfing Championship in Huntington Beach, California, surfing had yet to reach the greatest sporting stage. The Olympic Games. Held every four years where thousands of athletes from around the globe come together to compete for the chance at gold. Duke Kahanamoku, the father of modern surfing and three-time Olympic freestyle swimming champion having won gold at the 1912 and 1920 Games respectively, first advocated the sport to be in the Olympics back in 1920. Had it not been for him, surfing may not have become as popular in the world as it was.
When it came to the Olympics, Y/n loved sitting by the tv to watch Team USA. Witnessing historic moments and record breaking finishes she was in awe of every athlete who came across the screen. Swimming, diving, track, gymnastics, soccer. So many sports events in a single fortnight. She hoped surfing would become an official sport in the Games. For she too had dreams of an Olympic gold around her neck.
Pausing for a moment, Y/n smiled at the thought of her becoming an Olympic Champion, “I think a lot of us can agree that we’d like to see surfing become part of the Olympic family. It’s one of the oldest sports and has its own professional circuit for decades now—I mean we’ve got people here today from Japan, Italy, El Salvador and Australia. Why not include it? And you can definitely expect me to be training the moment it is.”
It would be four years before Y/n could make do with that promise. On August 3, 2016, two days prior to the opening ceremonies of the Games of the XXXI Olympiad, the IOC announced surfing would finally be an Olympic sport.
“Exciting news for the surfing world,” the headline appeared on the screen of ESPN’s afternoon coverage, “the International Olympic Committee has just confirmed the sport will be introduced for the first time in its history at the Tokyo Olympics taking place in 2020–marking 100 years since surfing legend Duke Kahanamoku first started advocating for it to be featured. Professional surfing isn’t new to international competition having debuted at Huntington Beach, California in 1959. Since then there’s been several meets featuring surfers from all over the world—the most recent being the 2016 Rip Curl Pro where ten-time World Surf League champion Y/n L/n claimed the title once again for the fifth time since her senior international debut in 2007. L/n is just one of many professional surfers who’ve advocated for surfing to be in the Olympics over the years and expressed interest in competing for a chance at gold. With the confirmation by the IOC this morning, I’d say we’ll be seeing her at the trials in four years.”
The morning after the announcement Y/n headed to the beach to find her father propping her board into the sound. “So four years, huh?” Y/n crossed her arms over her chest, feeling the wind breeze past them.
“Seems like a long way, but it’ll be around the corner before we know it.”
“We better get started then.”
Morning, afternoon, evening. Every day Y/n was on the water catching waves left and right. Perfecting maneuvers, getting air in her aerials. When taking breaks she’d go on runs and to the gym. She still participated in yearly competitions and surfed with her friends, but her training habits became more intense as she prepped for Tokyo. When she wasn’t sleeping, eating, or competing she was on the water.
By 2019 Y/n had accumulated the most titles won by a female surfer with ten ISA World Surfing Games—formerly the World Surfing Championships, ten Rip Curl Pro trophies, five QuickSilver pro Gold Coast, five-time triple crown winner, and the 2016 champion of The Eddie Aikua Big Wave International. Winning The Eddie and becoming the first woman in history to do so after the event returned from a seven-year hiatus had Y/n on the front page of several sports magazines around the world. It was a huge accomplishment. Pushing Y/n as the favorite to win gold in Tokyo.
Towards the later end of the year, October in fact, Y/n found herself on the sunny beaches of San Diego, California. August to November were the best months to surf in the area, being it was late summer going into fall where the heat wasn’t excruciating. Still one had to wear a wetsuit to even touch the water.
Y/n was in town to visit an old friend from college and to help the Pacific Beach Surf Club with their beach cleanups and participate in a charity competition. Having traveled in San Diego a few times she was no stranger to the club and welcomed with open arms. Volunteering in their cleanups was the least she could do to prepare the beach for the charity event.
When they finished they all changed out of their clothes into wetsuits, wasting no time to hit the waves. “Hey!” Her friend yelled from where she was treading water, tone teasing, “be sure to leave some for the rest of us, yeah?” Y/n threw her head back in laughter.
“I make no promises!”
Anytime Y/n surfed out of training or competition she felt so free. No pressure to be perfect. No shouting from her father. No commentary from the sportscasters or questions from reporters. Only her, her board, and the beautiful sea.
She cheered on her friend and the people in their cleanup group when they caught waves. Complimenting them whenever they did a cool trick. In return they whistled and hollered for her. They soon developed an audience from the shore. Children and adults alike stop to watch them in awe. Instantly drawn to Y/n who glided effortlessly, guiding her board into a tube ride.
Unbeknownst to the surfer, a group of navy pilots had stopped their game of dogfight football to observe the show.
Jake whistled, “Damn she’s good.” Mickey agreed.
“I don’t think I’ve seen someone surf like that. She’s a natural.”
“Probably has been doing it for years,” Bradley commented, fixing his aviators. Natasha and Bob hummed in agreement.
“I think I’m in love,” Javy breathed out, simply in awe of what he was witnessing. The most beautiful woman he’d ever seen showcasing talent on a board he could only dream of possessing.
He wondered what her laugh sounded like, seeing her head tilt back at something her friend said. Even from the distance her smile was breathtaking. Hair pulled back into a tight bun, body adored in a wetsuit to combat the cool water. A cheeky smirk thrown at her peers when she started paddling toward a forming wave. Standing on the board like a pro and making all kinds of turns and tricks Javy knew he’d wipe out the second he attempted them. Speaking of wiping out, she hadn’t done it once.
Jake nudging him from the side snapped him out of his daydream, “Go talk to her.” At the nod of his head, Javy realized she was running across the sand, stopping when she got to an area of coolers, towels, and backpacks.
“No!” He hissed, eyes reading, ‘are you crazy?’
“Why not? Just go up and start complimenting her. Ask her how long she’s been surfing. That’ll start a conversation.”
Javy scoffed, “Easy for you to say, Mr. Ken Barbie Doll who doesn’t need a confidence boost when talking to women.” Jake went to rebuttals but the sound of Reuben coughing stopped him.
“Uh guys….” He lifted a finger, their gazes following to find a family of four approaching the young woman. They couldn’t hear what was being said, but seeing her take a notepad from the little girl before scribbling in what appeared to be an autograph followed by the father snapping a photo with his phone, it was enough to conclude she was someone.
“Are…is she signing autographs?” Javy wondered aloud. He watched her sign the little boy's boogie board, posing for a photo with him before kneeling down to be on both the children’s level and smile for the camera. Hell even the parents wanted a photo, one of her friends coming over to hold the phone while they positioned themselves on either side. Then finally the whole family had a group one, saying their goodbyes and thank you’s to the woman who waved as they left.
“So she’s kinda famous,” Bradley said the obvious, everyone in a daze. Probably trying to figure out who the woman was, as none had recognized her as an actress or singer.
While they were busy investigating, Y/n unzipped her wetsuit leaving her bikini underneath and pulled on shorts with a graphic t-shirt overtop. “What are you guys doing after this?”
“We’re gonna grab some drinks at The Hard Deck. You down?”
“The Hard Deck?” She repeated with a tilt of the head. Never had she heard of the place.
“It’s that bar over there,” Y/n turned to the direction her friend was nodding at, eyes landing on a building not far from where they stood. “Great vibes, but I must warn ya it’s always filled with Navy fellas.” Y/n perked up slightly. Having lived on O’ahu all her life she was familiar with Navy personnel. After all, Pearl Harbor was located just on the coast of the island.
“Really?”
“Yeah, Miramar is not too far from here. It’s where the pilots train so expect to see some in flight suits.”
At around 6 the group packed it up and headed for the bar. Upon entry Y/n saw exactly what her friend had warned. The place was buzzing. Servicemen and women on every corner, music blasting from the jukebox. They approached the bar top to order a round of beers before settling over by the high top tables, splitting the group up since there were about eight of them.
“Check it out, Machado,” Payback clapped his friend’s back, making him turn to where his attention was. Javy’s eyes widened upon seeing the surfer.
“Did they just get here?”
“Looked like it. You should talk to her—especially since this is the second sighting in mere hours.” The pilot rolled his eyes.
“I don’t wanna come off as a creep, Fitch. What am I supposed to say ‘Hey, sorry if this is weird but I saw you surfing earlier—can I buy you a drink?’ She might throw me to the sharks.”
Natasha shook her head, “men.” A moment later Penny arrived with a tray of beers, placing them down on the seat beside Bob where the guys were shooting pool, “delivery for my favorite dagger squad.”
Thanks were sent her way followed by Jake asking, “Say Pen, you know those guys?” The bartender glanced over her shoulder to see who he was referring to, nodding with a smile.
“Oh that’s some members of the Pacific Beach Surf Club. They were cleaning up the beach earlier for tomorrow's charity competition. Expect the place to be packed if you drop by, it’s always a madhouse. This year they’ve got some of the best surfers participating.”
“Do you know if she’s one of them,” Javy tried to act cool when pointing out the woman.
Upon Penny’s smirk, the answer was clear, “Unless my eyes are deceiving me, I believe that’s ten-time world surfing champion Y/n L/n.”
“Ten?!” Mickey repeated, “Holy shit.” Around him the others were matching his expression. Javy immediately grabbed his phone to type in the name. Sure enough the image of the woman seated at the table appeared on his screen. Clicking on the Wikipedia page he started to read aloud for the group the opening paragraph.
“Y/n M/n L/n, born y/b/m yb/d, 1990 is an American professional surfer from Kapolei, O’ahu, Hawaii and a ten-time World Surf League Women’s World champion, the most titles won by any female surfer to date. L/n made her debut at the World Surf League Junior Championships at age 14 in 2004 in her native O’ahu, winning three consecutive times before turning to senior international competition where she’s won a total of forty world titles—including becoming a five-time triple crown winner. As of 2016, L/n is the defending champion and first women to win the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational. She is set to compete at the first ever U.S Olympic Trials in hopes of making the Tokyo Olympic Team where surfing will make its debut at the Olympics.”
“Well I’ll be damned,” Jake peered over Javy’s shoulder, watching him scroll down to view Y/n’s career statistics. Mickey appeared on the opposite side, whistling under his breath. Natasha took out her own phone to search herself, Bradley, Bob, and Payback all glancing over to see.
“She’s literally called the greatest surfer of this generation,” Bradley pointed out. “Talk about intimidating.”
“Now you gotta buy her a drink, Machado,” Payback concluded, igniting another glare from his friend. “Say you pulled an Olympian.”
“I’ll take it to her,” Penny offered, and before Javy could stop her the woman was back behind the bar. They watched her take a Corona from the cooler, add a lime and proceed to the table the athlete was at. “From the gentlemen by the pool tables,” Penny smiled at Y/n, nodding to the group, “the one the blonde is pointing at.” Turning her head, Y/n saw the guy in question pushing his friend’s hand down, a reddish hue on his cheeks when they made eye contact followed by a wave.
‘Well hello there,’ she thought, smiling at the handsome man. He was in a pair of basketball shorts and t-shirt reading NAVY in bold letters. The group he was with all scattered to make it look like they weren’t eavesdropping when Y/n approached, Corona in hand, “Hi.”
“Hello,” even his voice was attractive. Everything about him was. From his clear smooth skin to his dazzling smile. Toned arms and legs.
“Thanks for the beer.”
“Anytime,” he tipped the one in his hand, Y/n clicking hers against it. “Sorry if this is weird at all. I saw you surfing earlier and was trying to muster up the courage to come talk to you….but couldn’t find the words to say.”
Y/n smirked, gesturing to an empty pool table, “how about a game? Maybe it’ll help loosen your nerves.” Moving to a cue Y/n sees his grin widen, “I’m Y/n by the way.”
“I’m Javy, but you can call me Coyote.”
“Coyote?” She repeats with a chuckle, “That’s an interesting nickname.”
“Callsign actually,” he politely corrects before explaining he was a naval aviator. Grabbing his own cue while she sets up the rack, he added, “Wasn’t my doing.”
“Then how’d you get it?”
“Um…” he made a face, as though he was embarrassed to say. “I’ll tell you if you win this match.” A sound between a scoff and a laugh escaped her.
“So that’s how it’s gonna be.” Javy raises his hands in defense, laughing with her. “And if you win?”
His own smirk appears, “You give me your phone number…maybe even let me take you out.” Biting back a grin and fighting the warm feeling in her chest, Y/n removes the rack leaving the pool balls neatly centered.
“Challenge accepted, Coyote.”
It was safe to say both came out as winners that night. Though Y/n won the game and got the scoop on Javy’s callsign origin, he walked away with her number and plans to have dinner the following night after her charity event. Javy made the promise to come out and watch her surf, excited to see her in action. Hearing Y/n talk about the sport and her accomplishments was even cooler in person than reading it off the internet. From her amateur days to becoming a full blown professional. Winning countless championship titles, being the first woman to win The Eddie and her dream to win gold at the Olympics.
Javy was smitten.
“I’ll see you tomorrow then?” She smiled when they reached her van at the end of the night. They talked for hours to the point they lost track of time. It was 11 o’clock and she had to be up at five.
“You said it starts at noon?” At her nod Javy continued, “I’ll be there. And I look forward to our dinner plans after.” Y/n felt the heat rise, hoping it wasn’t displaying on her face.
“Me too. Thank you for a fun night, Javy,” feeling bold, Y/n leans to place a kiss on his cheek. The action leaves him stunned, smile growing bigger as she pulls away. “See you on the beach.”
Now Javy had loved the beach before meeting Y/n. But his love for it and the ocean only grew the moment he watched her ride the waves. Cheering from the sand as she dropped down and glided the tide with ease. It made him want to stay there forever.
He understood quickly why she was regarded as the greatest female surfer of all time. Yeah it was a charity competition and not a world championship, but Y/n treated the waves no differently. She was a beast. Total control of her board, little to no mistakes.
Their dinner date was filled with laughter, flirty sarcasm, stories so outrageous one would think they were bluffing. Javy spoke of his time at Top Gun and his friendship with Jake. Y/n told him about her college days. Both engaged in conversations about dreams and aspirations. Yeah they had their dream careers, but one can always dream bigger. Dream about friendship, dream about love.
Dream about the future.
When the night came to an end, Y/n laid her head on the pillow with a smile on her face, “I think this might be paradise.”
23 July 2021–The Hard Deck, San Diego California.
“It’s almost time for USA!” Javy hushes everyone, grabbing the remote to increase the volume. The place was packed mostly with the squad's friends, colleagues, the Pacific Beach Surf Club, and college students from UC San Diego. Togethery they were gathered to watch the opening ceremonies of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The Tokyo Olympics.
Finally after a whole year of waiting the Games were finally being held. A global pandemic sure would be the only thing to stop the most iconic two-week sporting event in the world.
And Javy’s girlfriend, 12x World champion Y/n L/n, was there to be part of surfing's Olympic debut. Gold on her mind.
The two had been long distance the majority of their relationship, but FaceTimed nearly every day with promises to visit as soon as restrictions were lifted. Y/n traveled to San Diego in the winter of 2020 to mark the couple’s one year anniversary. Then Javy flew to Hawaii in the spring, spending two weeks in Kapolei where most time was spent surfing and late night drive on the beach.
“There’s no place I’d rather be,” he sang at the top of his lungs, windows rolled down .
“Than on my surfboard out at sea,” Y/n followed, smile wide on her face with her hair blowing in the wind.
“Lingering in the ocean blue.”
“And if I had one wish come true.”
Together they sang, “I’d surf ‘til the sun sets beyond the horizon!”
Y/n tilted her head back, “‘Āwikiwiki, mai lohilohi. Lawe mai i ko papa he’e nalu.”
Belting out together once again, their voices echoed in the night, “Flying by on the Hawaiian roller coaster ride!!”
“‘Āwikiwiki, mai lohilohi. Lawe mai i ko papa he’e nalu.”
“Pi’i nā nalu lā lahalaha. ‘O ka Moana hānupanupa.”
“Lalala i ka lā hanahana. Me ke kai hoene i ka pu’e one.”
“Heel, hele mai kākou ē.”
“Hawaiian roller coaster ride!”
During the Olympic surf qualifying event in Huntington Beach the whole squad was in attendance to cheer Y/n on. Javy embraced her in tears, lifting her onto his shoulders to the hollars and whistles of their friends and family.
Y/n was officially an Olympian.
Now usually during the parade of nations of the opening ceremonies Greece is the first to enter the arena followed by the countries in alphabetical order with the hosting nation entering last. Having waited a whole year due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the world was excited to get the Games started. But to everyone’s surprise the order of the parade of nations would proceed differently than prior Olympics.
Greece still entered first, followed by the Refugee Olympic Team and then the nations paraded in based on where they fell on the Gojūon system. Japan would be the last country to march in, but for the first time ever the hosting countries of the next two Olympics entered before the hosting country. And what were those two countries?
France and The United States of America.
Paris was set to host the upcoming 2024 Games just three years away, and then in 2028 Los Angeles gets the honor once again of bringing the world together. The last time LA hosted was in 1984, and the last time America itself hosted the Summer Games was Atlanta 1996.
“Okay everyone shut up!!” The tv was turned to the loudest volume possible, all in attendance falling to hush whispers.
“Everything changes,” Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s voice echoes through the speakers, his silhouette figure walking into an empty arena. “The longest wait of their lives is over.” The beat of the music gets louder, building in pressure. “And the combination of their blood, sweat, and tears,” his face is revealed under the light, “finally arrives.”
The beat drops in time with the image of fireworks rocketing from the Rio arena, an announcer’s voice stating, “this is the moment that you all have been waiting for.”
“It’s not easy to bring the entire whole planet together,” the Rock states, “and it certainly wasn’t tonight. But, here we are.”
“Finally!”
“It’s finally here.”
“The Olympics are finally here,” Gold Medalist Simone Biles grins.
“Yeah, I’m hyped up.”
“Can’t wait to show the world what I got.”
The image shows Dwayne once again, “Tonight we are all so lucky to witness the hardest workers in the room.” Then it changes to athletes training, from gymnast Sam Mikulak to sprinter Noah Lyles. “The athletes who are a brilliant tapestry of talent, commitment, and drive.”
“Drive, drive, drive!”
“Now what was once considered unthinkable just one year ago has become a glorious reality. We come together united to celebrate the Olympians who exemplify the very best in all of us.”
🎼 legs are shaking, hands aching, 🎼
Simone Biles appears, determination in her gaze as she races down the vault runway. “It’s Simone’s party and everyone else is just a guest,” Tim Daggett’s voice cuts in during the clip of Simone at the World Championships, followed by the Rock.
“She is absolutely the greatest gymnast the world has ever seen. But even if there’s nothing left to prove, there’s a chance to launch herself even higher into the rarest air of immortality.”
As Simone lands her vault, it transitions into Katie Ledecky entering the pool. “The most dominant swimmer in the world.” “It’s just ridiculous!”
“She swims like a machine created to wreak havoc and decimate with impunity.”
“Katie Ledecky smashes her own world record!”
“But in reality she’s about the nicest person you’ll ever meet,” the rock’s face returns, bearing his own smile like Katie. “And kindness matters. Always.” Track star Noah Lyles running takes over. “He makes running as fast as you can look the way it’s supposed to look.”
“NOAH LYLES, WORLD CHAMPION!”
Dwayne grins, “Damn fun.” The next athlete featured was the one they were all waiting for.
“On dry land she’s impressive, in the water she’s simply lethal,” the Hard Deck erupted in cheers, Y/n flashing onto the screens showcasing her drop in during the WSL World Tour.
“That’s my baby!!!” Her name appeared in big bold letters like the others, ‘Y/n L/n. Kapolei, O’ahu, HI.’
“Monstruos wave for Y/n L/n, but she handles it like a pro.” The clip shows her pointing to the sky in victory following her win. “She’s here to prove why surfing should’ve been in the Olympics ages ago,” the Rock looks proud, “and look cool as hell while doing so.”
The tone of the video shifts, bringing forth the raw and emotional reality of athletes who’ve given every inch of their soul to be on the world’s greatest sporting stage. “They’re kids from Minneapolis—.”
“Kenny Harrison!” A girl crosses the finish line in joy, soon embraced by her father. “Raleigh.”
Fellow surfer and native Hawaiian Carissa Moore is shown, “And Honolulu.” A baby in a stroller being pushed by her mother. “They’re working moms with unfinished business.” Allison Felix with her daughter.
“This is what makes all the sacrifice worth it.”
Simone Manuel becoming the first Black woman to win an individual Olympic gold at the 2016 Rio Games. “The barrier breakers who’ve proven the power of the platform.”
“I can’t begin to tell you what this means for the sport of swimming in the United States.”
“There’s Jordan—!” A montage of Gold medal winning teams flashed. The Fab Five. The women’s soccer and basketball teams. The women’s rowing team. The Fierce and Final Five of U.S Gymnastics. “And the teams that have dominated for generations with no intention of changing the script for this one.”
“Get the gold medals ready. Again!”
“These awe-inspiring multi-talented athletes are taking on the world.”
🎼 ‘You bring me back to life.’ 🎼
Between the music and feel good montage, some of the viewers in the hard deck were having trouble holding back tears. Chills racking up their body. It made them want to get out and start training to be a world class athlete.
“They really are the best of us. They’re bringing us together.”
“That’s a new world record!”
“And they’re about to give you, at long last, the greatest two-week spectacle the world has ever seen.” Close ups of Team USA’s Olympians rolled, Javy wiping his eyes when Y/n appeared. “It is their Games. It is our Games.”
Absolute chills.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I am so grateful to have the honor of presenting to you….Team USA.” At the last word the Rock disappears, cutting to Team USA entering the Tokyo dome—the American flag flying high, “USA! USA! USA!” Though they couldn’t hear the cheers from the Hard Deck across the ocean, that didn’t stop the building from erupting in whistles. It was only the opening ceremonies so one could imagine what it would be like come the 26th and 27th.
When Y/n hits the waves for a chance at Olympic gold.
Tsurigasaki Beach, located 40 miles from Tokyo, was the place where it would all happen. The damp sand beneath Y/n’s toes felt comforting. Although the overcast skies made her worried. Tropical Storm Nepartak caused the waves to be more aggressive and unpredictable. It was going to be an interesting day of competition.
After qualifying with a big score in her heat the previous day, Y/n was set to compete in the quarterfinals that morning. From there the semi-final contestants would be decided, going straight into the event before finals that afternoon. Three events in one day if she made it all the way to the end.
“I’m going to be so sore tonight.”
Shortboard in hand, Y/n raced to the water the second the horn sounded. Instant shivers along her arms from the cold feeling. Cloudy skies prevented the sun from heating the water, “goodness gracious.”
Quarterfinals breezed by. Y/n started off strong with a score of 7 for her first wave, going on to claim two more, another 7 and an 8 bringing her total score to a 15. Putting her, American Carissa Moore, South African Bianca Buitendag and Japan’s Amuro Tsuzuki into the semifinals.
“Stellar performance by Y/n L/n of the United States. She had a bit of trouble on her second wave—which we can’t blame her for; many competitors have been having difficulty today due to the impact of tropical storm Nepartak on the tide. L/n’s score of 15 puts her at the top for the quarterfinals, but that can all change when we return for the semifinals in the next hour. It looks like she’ll be up against Japan’s Amuro Tsuzuki for one of two spots in the gold medal match.”
“That’s how you do it,” Javy clapped at the tv, the footage replaying Y/n’s competition highlights. “Semi-finals here we go.”
During the semis the pressure was on. Y/n could feel it all over, anxiety coursing when the horn sounded. Thirty minutes on the clock, ticking down to eliminate either her or Amuro. Usually her luck turns out for the better whenever she gets the first wave, however, Amuro beats her to it. Catching the next one Y/n focuses on pulling speed and managing her flow into the maneuvers, receiving a score of 6.2 on her first wave, 8.3 on her second and 7 on her third. Unfortunately a wipe out early on her fourth and final wave results in a score of 3.
“Is that gonna be enough?” Jake cringes, noticing the look of unease on his friend's visage. Y/n appeared shaken from the wipe out. Very rare has she ever messed up greatly in competition. But there’s always a first for everything.
Javy had a paper in front of him, writing down Y/n’s scores and the ones of her competitors to predict what she needed and if she was qualified to the final round.
“Her six and seven will be dropped, putting her at 11.30,” he taps the pen on the bar surface, “if Amuro doesn’t get another wave in the next,” Javy checks the time, “two minutes then it should put Y/n through to the finals.”
Amuro did in fact catch another wave before the horn sounded, ending their round in the semis, but it wasn’t enough. Her total score accumulated a 7.43, eliminating her from the final competition.
“One more,” her father/coach took a hold of her shoulders. “You’re almost there, Y/n.” Almost to the gold. “Rest up, you got one hour.”
He didn’t have to tell her twice. Picking up a water bottle and plotting on the sand Y/n downed the liquid and munched on an apple. To pass time she scrolled through Tik Tok, sent a selfie to Javy—who sent one of him and the squad back—and called her family in O’ahu to calm her nerves. She had already talked with Javy that morning before quarterfinals, promising to FaceTime him after the finals.
It was nerve racking. Regardless of how the event went, Y/n was guaranteed the silver medal. USA would take home both Gold and Silver in surfing’s debut being fellow American Carissa Moore beat out South Africa’s Bianca Buitendag in their round.
One competition left.
Bidding good luck to Carissa, Y/n took her position and waited for the horn. Thirty minutes on the clock. Thirty minutes to a gold medal.
“Here we go,” Payback announced in time with Y/n paddling out to sea. Javy rubbed his hands together, eyes glued to the screen.
“And the two Americans are off in the first ever gold medal match for surfing. Carissa Moore, the 2019 WSL World Champion, and twelve-time title holder Y/n L/n head-to-head to declare who will become the woman to win surfing’s first gold medal. Both have exemplified great performances today—it’s not easy doing a quarterfinals, semi-finals, and finals all in one day, but these pros make it look easy.”
“There she goes!” Nat shouted, earning cheers at the bar when Y/n caught the first wave of the competition.
“Kicking off with the first wave, in just two minutes of the clock starting is Y/n L/n. Dropping in beautifully, easing into the wave…..Straight into an roundhouse cutback, which she does flawlessly. Bottom turn, I think she’s gonna try and do a off-the-lip right here….and she nails it! I think she’s hoping to elongate this wave as far out as she can. Carving now and finishing with a 360 into an Ariel. Wow! That was a great start by Y/n.”
“Yeah that’s what I’m talking about!” Javy shouted over the cheers, grin plastered wide only to brighten more when the score came back a 8.7. “HELL YEAH! LETS GO!”
Carissa’s wave was impressive. She managed to hold it down with complicated moves to earn a 8.5. Both women scored huge on the first waves followed by 7s across the board. Nearing the final five minutes Carissa managed to get a 6.43.
“She can’t get anything lower than a 6.23,” Javy felt sweat pool on his forehead, suddenly feeling hot in the bar despite it being the ass crack of dawn.
“She’s got this,” Nat patted his back.
The clock was ticking down. Two minutes to go and Y/n had yet to find a wave. Placing her palm onto the surface, she took a deep breath, “please, give me a sign.” Not a moment later she felt something in her say to look right.
There, brimming about fifteen feet away, was the perfect wave.
Wasting no time Y/n’s chest planted to her board, paddling as fast as possible. Her heart was pounding, salt water splashing. Positioning herself in front of the forming body, Y/n silently called out to whoever was listening for strength.
“Wow she’s going for that huge current out on the west side. Moore is too far back—it’s gonna be L/n on the final wave of the women’s competition. With one minute to go she’s dropping in—.”
Y/n allowed the adrenaline to consume her, giving it total control as she dropped in. The highest wave of the competition yet, Y/n knew she’d be having a tube ride with how it formed. Picking up speed, she knelt slightly, paralleling her chest with the wall of the wave, the water curving around her. Blocking the world from her view.
It was just her and the sea. No one else.
Closing her eyes briefly, she pictured she was back on O’ahu in the water she grew up in. Sun beating down and gentle hum of seagulls.
Like she was in paradise.
The image left as quick as it came. Y/n snapping out of her daydream to exit the tube ride to the cheers of her father on the beach, curing back into the wave to finish on a high note by performing her signature Ariel. Smiling the whole way down just as the horn signified the end of the competition.
“And there you have it folks. The women’s surfing finals has officially come to a close—Y/n L/n ending her Olympic Games with a remarkable last wave. Absolute perfection with speed, precision, and control. That’s gonna be the highest score for her I feel.”
“C’mon, c’mon,” Javy bit his nail, knee bouncing from the anxiety of not knowing. Carissa’s total score was displayed first, 14.93. Y/n’s lowest was a seven, highest 8.7. Her final wave was amazing, but judging was unpredictable. Anything could happen.
Then in the blink of an eye the hard deck exploded.
“I don’t believe it! Tens across the board for Y/n L/n bringing her total to 17.00!! Y/n L/n has won the gold for the United States—Carissa Moore with the silver. USA goes one and two in women’s surfing at its Olympic debut!!! Take it all in, we are witnessing history,” the screen shows Y/n and Carissa embracing, leaning over their boards to congratulate the other, “Team USA has much to celebrate, the world of surfing has their champion. Y/n L/n adds gold to her name—surfing’s first Olympic Champion here in Tokyo!!”
Y/n laughed the entire time she paddled to shore, raising to her feet to race towards her father. She was soaking wet but he didn’t care. “You did it!” He yelled, kissing her head with tears in his eyes. “You’re an Olympic champion! I’m so so proud of you!” Soon they were greeted by Carissa and the rest of Team USA’s surfing members. The two women were lifted onto shoulders, American flags draped over their backs with photographers surrounding them.
It was a moving image. Two women from Honolulu and Kapolei, Hawaii won surfing’s first Olympic silver and gold medal. If only Duke Kahanamoku could be there to witness.
Back at the hard deck celebratory drinks were served and toasts raised to Y/n. Javy barely contained his emotion, eyes watering the moment her name came back the winner. Natasha and Jake embraced him in a hug, the guys whistling and hollering. Penny rang the bell.
“She won! Oh my God my baby is a gold medalist!! This is the best day ever!!”
The entire podium ceremony Y/n was on cloud nine. Placing the gold medal around her neck, she took a moment to stare at it. Disbelief and awe in her eyes. ‘Wow, I actually did it.’
When the national anthem came to an end Y/n did the traditional bite of the medal for the cameras. Posing with Carissa and Bianca afterwards, Y/n was ushered to interviews.
“Hello, Y/n,” the reporter beamed, “congratulations are in store—what an amazing moment for you. You’re the first gold medalist in women’s surfing at the Olympics. How does it feel?”
“It’s absolutely a dream come true. For years the surfing community has wished for this—to be in the Olympics and for me to be part of its debut, winning the gold medal…I-I can’t put into words how much this means to me. I’m so grateful and honored.”
“You’ve been around for a while now,” the reporter mentioned, “2004 was the first time we saw you and you’ve gone on to have a stellar surfing career. Winning the WSL World Surfing Games twelve times now—competing when it was still called the WSL World Championships and became the first woman to win The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational in 2016. This is your first Olympic Games, surfing will be at the Paris Games in three years. Can we expect to hopefully see you there?”
“I wouldn't rule it out,” Y/n winked with a giggle. “Paris is in three years and I would love to return to the Olympics again. After dreaming for so long I don’t want to let it go so easily. Of course anything can happen between now and 2024 but with my family, friends, and boyfriend cheering me on with their endless support…” she gave a cheeky shrug, “I’m gonna work hard and get back in the water once I’m home.”
“We’ll be rooting for you, Y/n. I don’t think the surfing world is ready to say goodbye to you. Anything else you’d like to say before you have to go. Anyone you’d like to say thanks to?”
Instantly the Olympian brightened, eyes locking on the camera. “I wanna give a shoutout to my hometown of Kapolei on O’ahu—the place where this journey started on the beautiful beaches and waters of my home. To my family and friends, thank you for your love, support, guidance and always cheering me on even when the going gets tough. My dad, who’s been my coach since I was seven is with me here to share this win, I couldn’t have done this without him. To my San Diego family watching, you better save me a beer at the Hard Deck when I come visit next week,” she winks, knowing the squad would get a kick out of it. Then Y/n softens, “and finally to my boyfriend, Javy, who’s with our friends in Fightertown. I love you so much, thank you for being my rock during quarantine and pushing me to do my best. I can’t wait to see you and this is for you.” Holding up the medal, Y/n blows a kiss to the screen before saying goodbye to the reporter.
Upon landing in San Diego two nights later, Y/n was greeted by a celebration from her friends. Members of the Pacific Beach Surf Club were there, as were the dagger squad. Javy met her in the middle the second she exited the terminal, lifting her in his arms. “Finally your back!! I’m so fucking proud of you!” Setting her down, he kept his arms around her and the two jumped up and down like school children in a heap of laughter.
Finally they calmed, sharing a sweet kiss. “How was your flight,” he walked when they pulled away, moving to grab her carryon back.
“Long,” she moaned, leaning into his side. “But worth it.” Soon she was surrounded by their friends. Congratulations all around, Mickey asking to see the medal, Jake saying all her drinks are on him, Nat telling her how much she missed having another girl around. “I missed you guys,” Y/n pouted, “man I wish you all could’ve been there.”
“Don’t worry, Y/n/n,” Bradley patted her shoulder, “We’ll be there in Paris.”
“That’s quite a bit away, Roo.”
“Yeah,” he shrugged, “but there’s no harm in planning now.”
“Let’s let the woman rest before kicking her training mode into gear,” Javy teased, earning a playful nudge from his girlfriend. Together they got her bags and headed straight for The Hard Deck. They drinked, they danced. Javy and Y/n had a rematch of their pool game.
“This feels a bit like deja vu,” she smirked, chalking up her cue. Javy winked, puckering his lips in an air kiss causing her to laugh.
For a week Y/n stayed in San Diego before flying home to Hawaii with Javy. Again she was greeted at the airport by her family and friends she’d grown up with. The local news station was present, students from schools wanting to join in on the celebration. It felt amazing to be home after two weeks away.
They settled in at her Honolulu home, finding the perfect place to display her medal and ordered take out since neither was in the mood to cook after a 6 ½ hour flight. Once finished with dinner Y/n gave her boyfriend a knowing look, “Wanna watch the sunset?”
She didn’t mean sitting on her porch or even the sand. No, she meant taking the boards and laying out on the sea as the calm surface of the water kept them afloat.
Javy agreed, rushing to get his swim trunks on while she put on a swimsuit. Grabbing their boards they locked up the house and jogged the quarter of a mile to the beach, paddling out to get a front row seat of the descending sun. Colors of bright orange and pink painted the sky. A beautiful contrast to the deep blues of the ocean.
“Is this heaven?” He whispered, finding her eyes staring back at him from where her cheek pressed to the board. All the love conveying in the simple look. And with her gentle words, Javy felt all the worry and unease he ever experienced lift from his soul.
“More like paradise.”

oh my gosh fellow animation student !! I love learning about other people's art school experience, if you'd be willing to share? I think the diversity of assignments and teaching styles and focuses is cool 🩷 love your art as well !!
Yeah I can share a bit ! I’ve really enjoyed the program so far, I think I’ve learned a lot and I’ve gotten the chance to use programs I wouldn’t have access to usually!
First semester I had 9 classes (I’m counting story lab + lecture as two separate ones) and it was honestly pretty difficult to keep up with the workload, especially because I was still finishing up zine work. I had so many assignments, there were many weeks I’d have something due everyday, sometimes multiple things in the same day, so time management was a big struggle and I ended up having to sacrifice the amount of drawing I did for fun and for socmed </3 I think that was the biggest bummer cause it meant I lost both what helped me relieve stress and something that made me happy :/
While the work was intense and time consuming, I really did enjoy what I was making for each class. My favourite classes were character design, storyboarding, and animation. I felt like they were the ones I did best in and I realized loved my animation teacher her classes were really fun and I laughed a lot lol. I also really enjoyed my life drawing class, I have a lot of respect for my teacher, he marked harshly but I learned so much under him and my life drawing skills have improved a lot since september. He also collects bones and brought them in and it was super cool. He told us all the stories of were he’d picked them up, like asking farmers or finding roadkill and cleaning them.
Overall in each class, I really appreciated the critique I’ve gotten and I feel like I’ve really improved! I actually dropped out of art school before and one of the main reasons was because I felt like I wasn’t really getting anything out of the program. My stuff was nowhere near perfect but I was one of the better students so teachers used my stuff as an example rather than see me as a student that also was there to learn. I hated that so I left, and I’m really happy I don’t feel that way in the program I’m in now!
What I will say though is one of the hardest lessons to learn is that you can’t go 100% on every single thing, it’s just straight up impossible unless you don’t take care of yourself and get no sleep. It sucks because you want to do your best and be amazing at everything, but an assignment that’s half assed is better than handing in nothing at all and also better than permanently hurting yourself because you push through the pain and don’t allow yourself any rest.
One of the things that sucked the most assignment wise was my bone portfolio for life drawing, I had so much planned out and I really wanted to do amazing, but I had to cut a lot out to get it done on time, and so the finished project was lacking a lot. I got a decent mark for it, but personally I know it could’ve been so much better, and I just have to live with the sacrifice I made so I could get all my work done on time lol
I don’t want to share too much more about the assignments I did, but I was really proud of my work in my character design class and also my last storyboard assignment, where we took part of a script and made new boards based on it. I got a lot of compliments from the teacher about my attention to detail with subtle and human actions. I’m happy cause that’s the kind of stuff I love portraying and love seeing in films haha.
One other thing is I was so close to failing layout, the last two assignments I left until the very end and almost didn’t get them in one time before teacher’s grades were due, and without them I would’ve failed the class. As it stands, I got over a 90 average so the two assignments made a big difference lmao.
Sorry this was so long lol

“ugh! you– what the– ugh!”
You’re trying not to say anything you’ll regret to your eight year old brother who is currently holding the empty juice box, whose contents are currently all over your shirt.
And it would be one thing if you could just go home and change, but no. Today is your first day at your new school. To make matters worse, you’re also transferring in the middle of the semester.
Your mom insisted that you stop by the store on your way to school to pick up a snack your brother really wanted. You had unwillingly agreed. (you were basically forced to anyway)
Of course, you little brother had to be the annoying brat he was, running around and picking up things he wanted.
One thing he grabbed off the shelf was a pack of juice boxes. He even managed to take one out and open it without you noticing, as you were trying to buy the things you needed.
Now you have to buy it since he already opened it.
He further goes to run around with said juice box open, bumping into you, and spilling all of the juice onto your newly bought shirt.
He freezes, looks at the mess he made on your shirt, and laughs.
He fucking laughed.
You are doing everything you can to keep your cool, not wanting to make a scene in the store.
“Hey, stop running around, come back here!”
It’s no use, whatever you say goes in one ear and out the other.
“Ugh, what a menace,” you mutter to yourself and to the rest of the aisle, cleaning off your shirt. “Ruining my fucking shirt. How annoying, ruining everything.”
Mumbling to yourself, you speak up to your brother, continuing to wipe off your shirt. “Why do you have to be so annoying? Can’t you just sit still? Gosh, you’re ruining my life right now.”
You’re walking down the aisle, looking down at your drenched shirt, supposedly talking to your brother. You don’t realize that you weren’t actually talking to your brother until your head collides with a chest that is way too big and tall to be your little brother’s.
Whipping your head up, you come face to face (a little too face to face) with the handsomest stranger you have ever laid your eyes upon.
Except his eyebrows are furrowed down while you just stare back in awe.
It isn't even until he speaks up that you realize you were staring. “Oh I’m sorry. What did I do?”
You thought he was joking around. Maybe making fun of you for walking into him. But after a few moments of silence, you realize he isn’t joking and is genuinely wondering what he did that was oh so wrong for you to be saying that mean stuff to a complete stranger that you don’t know.
Your eyes widen as your mouth moves faster than you can comprehend, shooting out apologies before you can even register what’s happening.
“Oh- No- I’m so sorry! Nothing- It’s fine! You didn’t do anything!”
He stares back, a small grin appearing on his face the more you ramble.
Through your rambling, since you were so close, you go take a few steps back to give him some room, and of course there was juice on your shirt and the floor.
You see his face contort into panic and reach out to you, but it was too late.
You slipped and landed directly on your butt in the puddle of juice on the floor.
Feeling it seep into your pants, you sit there, staring at the floor, shocked at what life is throwing at you right now.
Did you really deserve this? Were you a murderer in your past life?
Did you really have to embarrass yourself this badly in front of this beautiful man who was currently trying to help you up?
Snapping out of your trance, you accept his hand as he helps you stand back up.
“Are you…okay?”
“Yup! Splendid, actually! Couldn’t be better!”
You could be a lot better actually. If you didn’t have juice all over your shirt and now your pants, and if you didn’t just embarrass yourself this badly in a store you can never go to again, you would be perfect.
But, unfortunately for you, you are not doing well.
He chuckles at your flustered state, and you can feel your cheeks get even more red. “Do you need a towel or anything? Do you have a change of clothes?”
And of course, this cute stranger had to be caring and thoughtful as well.
“Yeah! I have extra clothes in my car, I’m all good.”
What? You don’t even have a car, let alone extra clothes.
But you didn’t want to say that in front of him.
“Oh okay. Well let me know if you need help with anything after everything you went through,” he chuckles and you force yourself to let out an awkward chuckle in response.
He’s about to continue until you hear this agitating, irritating voice shouting your name.
“y/n! y/n! Look what I found.”
The smile that formed on your lips from talking to man immediately vanished as soon as you heard your brother’s voice in the distance. The culprit who caused this all to happen. The reason you are drenched in juice right now.
He runs up to you, completely ignoring the other presence in front of you, “Look! Look at this toy I found! It’s so cool. Can I get it? Please? Please? Please?”
You roll your eyes and huff out a breath, about to tell him no before the stranger interrupts you, “Uh, you’re probably busy then, so I’ll leave you to it. Maybe I’ll see you around.” He smiles before turning around and walking off.
“Wait! Your name…” He’s already gone.
The charming, gorgeous, love of your life just left you and you don’t even know his name.
“So can I get it?”
You whip your head to your brother, “no, put it back.”
“Why not?,” he’s whining, you hate it when he whines. “Please? Why can’t I get it? Please, yln!”
“I said no! Now put it back.”
He pouts as he sulks off to put the toy back.
You think about what to do next. Your mom already dropped you off and it’s a fifteen minute drive from here to your house. Would you even make it in time to go home and do an outfit change then back to school? It takes about ten minutes from here. How much time do you have?
Oh you have eleven minutes, that’s plenty–
Wait. Class starts in eleven minutes?
You’re panicking now. You’re going to be late. You really didn’t want to walk into class late on your first day and have everyone watching you. Maybe if you left right now you could arrive before the bell rings.
Running around to find your brother, you spot him and hurry him out the door.
“Wait! The juice boxes!”
You forgot you have to pay for that because your idiot of a brother opened them. And spilt it on your shirt.
Your shirt! You’re going to have to go to class with a shirt and pants covered in juice.
You sigh, ignoring it for now. Maybe you could get a change of clothes during lunch.
Rushing to the cash register, you wait a whole four minutes before it’s your turn. Checking the time, now you only have six minutes to get to school, drop off your brother, then find your class.
Pulling him out the door, you rush towards your school. You get there three minutes late. Not bad.
You find your brother’s class leaving him with a quick, “bye have fun,” not even giving him time to reply before you’re off to find your own class.
After a few minutes of looking, you finally find it; only a total of six minutes late.
You take a few deep breaths and compose yourself before walking in.
The teacher has already started a lesson, so you walk in slowly, feeling all the heads turn in your direction. It isn’t until the teacher turns to you as well that you speak up, “Good morning! I’m, um, a new student. My name’s y/n–”
“Yes, yes, welcome.” The teacher turns to the rest of the class, spotting an empty seat for you. “There’s a seat next to Jeno right there where you can sit.”
You smile before turning to see where your designated spot is, and lo and behold, it is right beside your love at first sight you met today.
Or the one you absolutely embarrassed the shit out of yourself in front of earlier this morning.
Your smile slowly faded into an awkward expression as you make eye contact with his bored face, eyes brightening slightly when he spots you looking at him.
Everyone’s heads turn back to the front of the class as the teacher continues with the lesson as you make your way over to your seat.
“You have something on your shirt, by the way.”
He laughs as the heat rises to your face, trying to cover the obvious stain.
“I didn’t think I’d see you again,” you turn to him, “this morning was too embarrassing, I’m sorry.”
“No it’s okay, it was cute, you got so flustered.” And here he is making you flustered once again. “I’m glad we met again though. Maybe we were destined for this.”
The two of you continue into casual conversation, occasionally getting scolded by the teacher for talking, but you enjoyed talking to him too much to stop. He was so easy and comfortable to talk to, you two were inseparable for the rest of the day.
This continued for the next few days, days turning to weeks and weeks turning to months.
Maybe it really was love at first sight for you, or maybe it was destiny, but you’re so glad your brother spilt that juice on you.

Can I please request headcanons for William secretly dating Ulrich's female cousin who's a rebellious punk and Ulrich finds out when they have a mishap involving handcuffs and he has to free them?
This is a fun one! Let's do it!
William x Ulrich’s female cousin specific headcanon
Tumblr media
William is disappointed about his relationship with Yumi. She will never forget Ulrich. And besides, she isn't his style. At first, he thought she was like him: a rebel, searching adventures or troubles... But no, she isn't like him.
One day, he sees someone new at the entry of the school. She is talking with Ulrich and Yumi, laughing and punching the boy's shoulder.
Her style is... unique. She is a punk. All in red and black, piercings, chains, heavy boots... She looks cool.
Turns out she's Ulrich's cousin, beginning school here this semester. Which is not good for William. Ulrich hates him for having flirting with Yumi. So there is no way he would let it near his cousin.
Surprisingly, it's her who approach him first. He is alone at his desk in science class and she is late. So, after being scolded by the teacher, she decided to sit with him.
After twenty minutes, she abandons her exercise and begins to talk to him. They bond pretty quickly. And after the class, they are besties, already planning pranks.
In fact, they become more than best friends. When they escape after their first prank, they end up in the wood, panting and laughing. William looks up, right in her eyes. She asks "Do you want it?", he answers "Yeah.". And they kiss.
They decide to keep their relationship a secret. William doesn't want to fight with Ulrich and she doesn't want to deal with his cousin asking hundreds of question at home. So she will hang out most of the time with her cousin, but when the group is away, she will spend all of her time with William.
The next few weeks are the best of his life. She is so... incredible. Funny, Smart, troublemaker... and she is always here for him. A little too honest maybe, but she is always ready to listen to him and give him advices.
During a prank, one where they decide to cellophane at every door, they get caught by Jim. William run away, but she doesn't have this chance: Jim catch her arm and when you are caught by him, you can't escape.
She has detention at the end of the day. And luckily, William doesn't. Jim didn't recognize him.
She is so mad at her boyfriend. He let her down. He just laughs at her, but she swears to have her revenge.
He doesn't think about it and the rest of the day. He waits for her at the end of her detention, to tease her and having late dinner.
When she goes out of the classroom, she grabs his hand and walks with determination to her room. "W-what are you doing?" Asks William, trying to hide his nervousness.
She pushes him in her room, on the bed and jumps on him. "I told you I will have my revenge. How dare you let your girlfriend getting caught?!" "I thought we must keep our love secret." "And I thought you will do everything for love."
Despite this exchange, both of them have a smile on their face. Clearly, they love flirting like that.
Quickly, she catches his wrist and push on the head of the bed. She passes a handcuff around his, passes the chain around the bed's head, and finishing by handcuffed herself.
"Now, I have you exactly where I want you to be". Gosh... she's so hot... "And where do you have the key, my dear kidnapper?". She freezes. "Wait... you do know where, right?". "You... you're going to laugh...". She glances to her school backpack, at the other side of the room. "You must be kidding me..."
Ulrich is searching his cousin. He heard that she had detention for a prank with someone. And he needs to know everything, especially if he has to defend her.
He doesn't find her anywhere. Not in the hallways, not in the parker, not in the wood, not in the cafeteria... Maybe in her room. He hears a struggle in her room! And.. William’s voice?! Worried, he burst into the room.
The couple cried, surprised by the sudden intrusion. There is a little awkward silence, each one staring at the others. Ulrich is the first one to break the silence: “What are you two doing?!” “Ulrich! Quick, the key in my backpack!”
William and his girlfriend have to spend thirty minutes to convince Ulrich to free them without telling him what they were doing in this position and why she had detention. Finally, after admitting they were dating and she try to... uhm... well you understand.
All three of them are as red as lobsters. And even if Ulrich is a little mad at William for “corrupting her little and pure cousin”, she put his ideas back in place by pulling his ears a little. She’s a big girl and can choose her boyfriend.
Ulrich makes her promise to stop doing massive pranks and getting having detention. And to William to take care of his cousin and watch himself. Or else, Ulrich will have his revenge. His cousin rolls her eyes at how dramatic he is.
The two boys leave the room, it’s almost curfew. They run into Jim, asking them what they were doing in a girl room. It’s William who finds a answer: “Well, you know Jim, Ulrich’s cousin, is new in town.” “How does it explain anything?” “It’s her time of the month. Do you want to check?”
Jim turns into a really embarrassed teenager, sputtering that they have to go back to their dorms. The two boys exchanged a smirk. You can hear her giggle behind the door.

HI BABYYYYY omg DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT IN THE SLIGHTEST. yes, i am right there with you. im so exhausted by life and everything and i just keep seeing worse and worse news every day and ahhhhhhhhhh. IM SO PROUD OF YOU for getting through the semester with amazing grades!!!! but do please take care of your health babe 💓 i dont wanna sound like a mom but in my first few years of uni, i had the mentality that "stress is temporary, grades are forever" so i put everything into school. but honestly, that ruined me 🥲 i had to find a sustainable way to manage my workload and i ended up not crying even once in my last year lol 🥲🥲🥲 but anyway. i trust you and ik youre gonna do whats best for you so ill just be here cheering u on 💗
omg thank you... it was, quite frankly, awful as fuck but we made it through and my grandpa is very safe and alive, lol. unfortunately another grandparent had to go to the emergency room recently but that was also fine ... ish... well. we're getting through it. i seem to have no lingering effects anymore.......? idk, i feel like my sense of taste has gotten a bit dulled in some aspects but that could also just be allergies plugging my nose so who knows 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ thank you for thinking about us ;-;

Copenhagen - Day 3
After sleeping for a wonderful 10hrs, I woke up refreshed and ready for an adventure! So I took the bike and went to the city. Ahhhhh, I was in heaven! I love biking aimlessly, I love cute cities with colourful buildings, I love watching people out and about enjoying life, and I love it when time slows down... It was awesome! I biked around, having a great time taking it the sites and sounds. After weeks of wanting everything to slow down so I could enjoy the moment, finally I was in charge of the moments! Yay!
I took myself back to Nyhavn and bought a gelato, yuuuum. You best believe I sat on the waters edge and enjoyed that delicious and expensive gelato! For all the times I packed lunch and ate soggy sandwiches from the breakfast buffet in Israel to save money... All so I could feel 100% happy about spending money on expensive gelato in Copenhagen after biking through the city. Don’t mind me, I’m just out here living my best life. Ahhhh, I’m totally having an eat pray love moment for sure. Haha.
After my enjoyable icecream, I biked back through the city and found my way to... The Ironman! Yes, the Ironman! What are the chances that the Ironman is happening in Copenhagen when I’m here?! Not likely! It was incredible. For those who don’t know, I did a Half Ironman a few years ago, and it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. As I watched in disbelief as crowds cheered for the leading athletes, I was thrown right back into the emotions of when I did mine. The pain, the struggle, the trainings, the early mornings, the disappointment, the failure, the success, the tears, oh gosh the teeeeears! I couldn’t believe the irony. All the emotions and hardships and challenges the Ironman represented, and now here I am, with different sorts of emotions and hardships and challenges. Wowza. What a moment...
I meandered around the city, biking up and down streets, taking it all in, before slowly heading back to my Airbnb where I chilled out for a few hours. I would’ve liked to have done a boat tour on the canal, but I was a bit too tired. Next time! In the evening, I went back into the city and found a church to go to. I was so excited as I haven’t been able to get to church for the last three weeks. I ended up at Hillsong Church, my first time ever going! It was exactly how I imagined it, even for a small church. Even the Jonas Brothers were playing over the speakers as we waited for the service to start... Whaaaaat...? Everyone looked super stylish and fashionable, and the music was incredible, as you’d expect. It was so good to worship with Christians on the other side of the world, such a cool experience. It did make me miss my community back home and the support they provide for my spiritual life.
Copenhagen was awesome. I just feel at home here. Life is easy, it’s beautiful, safe, all the things. It’s probably a good thing I didn’t do my university semester abroad here, otherwise I may never have left! It will be interesting to see how Sweden and Norway compare with Denmark. I can totally see why Denmark is always so highly rated on the happiest countries on the world lists, it’s a great place to live. I really enjoyed Copenhagen, although as always, it would be better shared with the people I love. I always picture being in places with my friends, thinking about what they would love and what we would do together. But alas, it is just me...

Are you seeing this? This is the most beautiful sunset I’ve seen. I gotta get a shot of this-
Hey! Hey! I could help you take a picture with the sunset if you want to!
Oh! Would- Would you? That’d be great!
Of course!
...
Here. Is it alright?
Yeah, yeah, it’s cool! Thank you so much!
Are you recording something? Is it a- Are you vlogging? Are you a vlogger?
Yeah, no... I’m actually on a solo trip for a bit.
Oh, where are you from?
Just the next state.
Ah! You’re taking a break off... life then? I assume? Sorry if that came out weird.
No! No no! It’s alright! Yeah, I just needed a short break from... y’know, school and everything. My semester ended pretty early on so I took the chance to come out here and... see some new sights, meet some new people.
I get that. Well, for a start, what’s your name?
Oh, I’m y/n. Nice to meet you! And you?
I’m Eric.

[REC: APRIL 4, 2019 - 10:34PM] SOLO LOG #2
It is the 4th of April, 2019. I know, I know, I’m meant to do a daily vlog for all the 50 days I’m here but... it’s been... wow. Um... so I met Eric, the first day I touched down. The beach is just, about a 10 minute walk down and the sunsets are absolutely gorgeous. But uh... call me a fool and say that I’m living in the clouds but- what are the chances?
He’s funny, he’s such a great person to be around with y’know? Never a moment of like, awkwardness or stress and my God, look at me talking about a boy like that, though I met him 2 days ago.
...
Um, he’s a freelance model. For those freelance shoots by UNIQLO or Target or something and he complains about the pay sometimes, but he looks good infront of a camera, so he’s... actually the one who won at life, really.
I’m not seeing him soon because he’s got a shoot out of town and he’ll be back next week. But I did get his number and he’s been texting me since.
...
Wouldn’t it be funny if we end up together and then I have this whackass of a reel to show him? Jesus... I need to stop getting ahead of myself here. Freakin’ living in the clouds, aren’t I?
...
Anyway, I’m gonna go and see if I can get my weird projector shit up and working. See you.

It is... 5am... uh, April 7th- and I was just binging FRIENDS through the night, waiting for the sunrise before I get some shut eye and then... Eric just asked me out. Oh my God! Um, he’s coming back this Thursday and I’ll go see him at the airport before we go get dinner.
It was really funny ‘cause he had to wake up early for a shoot today and so his day has just begun but mine’s coming to an end and I just- I’m rambling so much, it’s kinda- it’s kinda sad, isn’t it?
I think I’m too happy to sleep right now so I’m just gonna text him some more before the sun rises- oh! He replied!
...
Anyway, I’m gonna go and finish up this last episode before sleeping. Hopeful I can sleep. Bye!

I am on my way out right now to go meet Eric at the airport, and I’m... it’d be an understatement to say that I’m excited. I know I’ve only known him for like, 2 days before he left but... I miss him. Is that possible? Missing someone despite knowing them for 2 days?
Anyway, I gotta go. Don’t wanna be late to see him.

Oh! Is that what you had-
Yeah! It’s the same camera!
What are you vlogging for, actually? Like-
Nothing, really. It’s just for my own usage-
Wait, you didn’t like set that up last night while we-
Oh, God, no! Who do you think I am?
I don’t know, I mean, we’ve known each other for... is it two weeks-
Just under two weeks-
Jeez-
I know, I know, oh my God.
...
I don’t regret it though. Yeah, like- I don’t really go down to the beach that often in the first place and it just- it just so happened that you were there that day and I saw you struggling with this old thing-
I was not struggling!
Yeah you were!
I wasn’t-
I’m kidding! Gosh, you’re so cute.
...
Are you gonna have the camera recording while this carries on?
I forgot it was on-
One day we’re gonna accidentally make a sex tape-
Eric!

-ould you pass me the hot water?
Mm? What?
The kettle over on the counter. Careful, it’s hot. Yeah, thanks.
Do you need help with-
It’s just instant noodles, sweet. Doubt I need a diploma for this. You’re recording again?
Yeah, does it bother you?
No, no, ‘course not. Though that means I can’t really do whatever I want to now.
What does that mea-
...
I can... still taste that bit of milk tea you had just now-
Could you tell it’s zero sugar?
I don’t think that matters, it’s still sweet and not great for your health to have that so much.
Aw, and yet you’re the one who suggested noodles at this timing, yeah?
You were hungry too!
...
Here, it’s done. Help me get the bowls?
Did you even wash these?
Yeah, I did. If you don’t trust me, you can run them under the water for a bit.
Mhm. Here.
If it’s not enough, we can call for Macs.
Y’know, I’ve never had Macs past midnight back at home.
What? Really? Well, when you get back in May, would you try?
Yeah, why not? Maybe I’ll do that when I’m back in school.
...
What date is it today?
April... hold on, um, 17. Careful, that’s hot.
...
When are you leaving again?
May 22.
Are you planning on coming back anytime soon after?
I don’t know. I have school to worry about and the only other time I can come back’s probably during winter break in November.
...
I won’t be around in November.
Mm? Why not?
I’m moving.
To where?
I’m not sure yet, but I need to move depending on whether I get it and where the shoot’s at.
Shoot? It’s a big project, huh?
Yeah, it’s- it’s a pretty big deal.
...
I’ll- Let me just go and...

No, c’mon! It’s such a great time to get this on camera! Come on, tell us what just happened!
Well, I just scored a huge model contract with Calvin Klein - in Manhattan.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I’m so fucking proud of you, oh my God! Can you believe it-
No, fuck off, I can’t either!
Oh! Calvin Klein!
...
I swear, you’re an angel sent to me-
Fuck off!
I’m serious! it’s so timely- I just can’t- I’m just so happy to have met you.
...
Well, you heard it first here, ladies and gentlemen. Eric Sohn is a new model for Calvin Klein - Manhattan.

[REC: APRIL 21, 2019 - 12:40PM] SOLO LOG #8
It is 12.40pm... April 21st, 2019. I’m finally back in my apartment after crashing at Eric’s for the last... 10 days? I think it was 10 days. My clothes were running out and I didn’t want to hike up his water bills so I just came back and- y’know did my own laundry.
...
Well, it’s- it’s been an absolute dream. The last thing I expected to... have, or meet? Here, is Eric. Um, but I know I’m probably going to regret this. Especially when May 22 comes. Uh... this is... it’s real bad. I mean, we’re great, y’know? But... it’s bad, because I know it’ll hurt. Like a bitch. When my time here is up, and I gotta go back to my reality, and Eric’s gotta stick to his.
We haven’t really talked about it. May. I don’t think he wants to, and I don’t think I want to either. 50 days is too short. Either that, or I shouldn’t have come here in the first place. I shouldn’t have gone to the beach that day, in that hour.
...
I just wish we had more time. I wish 24 hours were... maybe about 100 seconds more per minute. Does that make sense? 160 seconds per minute. Then again, I don’t think that’d solve my problem. I’ll still be on a ticking... time bomb.
...
I know I shouldn’t say this. I know I can’t. I know I can’t afford to. But... I... I love him. I love Eric. With every... bit of me. It’s so... disgustingly cliché, but I feel so... comfortable with him. There’s really nothing we’d fight about, and even if we disagreed on something, we’d play it off like a debate, then forget about it the next day.
...
I love him. I do. And I’m going to regret this later. Without a doubt.

Oh! Yeah, you can! It’s really feint though.
Right.
It’s okay, we can just lay it down here-
On the grass? Will your camera be fine?
Yeah, yeah, or else you can just put in on top of my bag- here.

Here, can you see me? Am I in frame?
Yeah, you’re in frame.
Okay, great. Now get over here!

A little.

Hello? Earth to Eric?

Oh, Eric...
No, I- I don’t want you to stay- or even think about it, ‘cause, you have your priorities and I have mine y’know...

So, Eric’s in shoot right now and I’m on the way into the studio with some donuts and coffee to surprise him. I called his manager and asked if it was okay so- I’m pretty psyched to see his workspace.

Hi, I’m y/n, I’m here to visit Eric?
Ah, okay! Hold on, let me just get you signed in with the pass-
Count me in!
You sure? This Saturday at the prep-party?
Yeah- Oh!
Eric!
y/n! What are you doing here?
I wanted to surprise you. Am I... interrupting anything?
Oh, not at all!
You must be y/n! Eric’s told me so much about you!
Did he? And you are...?
I’m Chelsea! I’ve been attached to the same Calvin Klein contract he recently got, so you could say we’re colleagues!
Well, nice to meet you! Oh, right, these donuts and coffee are meant for you guys actually!
Oh! You’re too kind! Eric, you’re such a lucky man.
I know, she’s just... everything.
Anyway, thank you so much for these. I’ll bring them back down to the studio for the crew to share. But Eric’s pretty much done for the day actually, so you guys can leave if you want to!
Are you sure? Don’t you need help downstairs with the equipment?
No, no! It’s fine, there’re more than enough people downstairs. Go have your date, and maybe you can bring her along with you for the prep-party this weekend!
What’s the prep-party... preparing for?
Oh, you’re so adorable! It’s a prep-party for the end-of-May shoot we’re gonna have. it’s a collab with DAZED so it’s a pretty big project.
You never told me you were involved in a collab with DAZED.
I was gonna tell you today.
He has been pretty busy recently, maybe slipped his mind. Anyway, thank you so much for the donuts and I’ll hope to see you at the pier this Saturday, mm?
Yeah, sure. Thanks Chels.
No problem! It was so nice to meet you, y/n, I’ll see you Saturday!
Okay, bye!
Bye, Chelsea! It was nice to meet you!
Bye!
...
Sweet, why didn’t you tell me you were coming?
I wanted it to be a surprise. I thought you said you’d end pretty late?
The filming was cut short because the shots were better than expected so we ended early.
Oh, I wanted to film you while you were at work.
You have that on?
Yeah- why?
No, just wondering.
Are you uncomfortable?
No, no, it’s just... I really didn’t expect you to come to the studio.

[REC: MAY 19, 2019 - 9:59AM] SOLO LOG #14
It’s May 19th, 2019, almost 10am. I just came back from a morning walk by the beach just to... reminisce a little before I leave on Wednesday.
...
I... haven’t seen Eric since the prep-party. I blocked him and I told him not to come over, though I think he has, like, a few times. I thought I heard someone come up to my door, but he never knocked.
...
So, this is how it ends, huh? A 50-day romance cut short like that. Into about, 40?
...
It’s crazy to think that I had... the experience of a whole relationship in 40 days. I definitely did not sign up for that when I booked this 50-day retreat.
...
It was fun while it lasted, though. It was. I don’t think I’d find anybody else like Eric, and I guess it just sucks that it had to end like that. Things happen, right? That aren’t... in our control.
...

[REC: MAY 21, 2019 - 8:07PM] SOLO LOG #15
May 21st. About 8pm. I leave in about 15 hours.
...
All my stuff’s packed. Definitely more things to bring home than I brought here. Half of these things were bought by Eric and given to me. I’m... actually not sure if I should bring them back.
...
I don’t- I just don’t think I’d have the heart to throw them away.
...
Nor look at them when I’m home.
...
Should I even bring this camera home? Maybe I should wipe your memory before I bring you home, hmm?
...
It feels like a dream, doesn’t it? Everything that’s happened. It feels like a fever dream. Maybe when I’m finally home, I’d wake up and it’d be the day I come here.
...
Maybe.

-ny more luggage?
Nope.
Alright then, I think you’re all set. You still have about an hour’s time before the gates are open so you can get a cup of coffee or something, yeah?
Okay, thank you!
Have a nice flight ma’am.
Thanks.
...
Good evening ma’am, can I check your boarding pass?
Yeah, sure.
...
Okay, you’re good to go. Have a safe flight.
Thank you!

It is about 11.30am and I’m on the flight, and here’s the view outside. Sky’s pretty clear and this thing says that the weather’s great so, it should be a smooth flight without turbulence.
...
This is it. This is really it.

Um-
Hi, ma’am, I’m gonna need you to keep your camcorder.
Oh! Yeah, sure, sure, sorry!

[REC: APRIL 2, 2020 - 12:48AM] ERIC LOG #1
Wow, this is... weird. How did you do this last year?
...
Um, hi. y/n. If you’re watching this then I’ve somehow managed to get this synced into your camera by some weird... bluetooth, iCloud shit that Felix helped me figure out.
...
It’s been a year. And... I just thought you should... see this, or hear me out, at least. I know we didn’t end on the best terms... and I’m sorry. It was my fault. I shouldn’t have yelled at you for being unreasonable for something that was... suspicious. I should’ve understood.
...
I should’ve been there. To see you off. And I’m sorry I didn’t. I... was scared, that I wouldn’t be able to let you go if I went to send you off. I was a coward. I still am.
...
But I do want you to know that... those 50 days were the best days of my life. Albeit it ended horribly, but nothing could... nothing- nothing will ever replace what happened last April.
...
I said I love you and... I still do. Every day I think about you and your smile and your voice and- and I cry to sleep... worrying that I’d forget how you sound like, or how you laugh and how... how you smell like. My bed smelt like you even after you left.
...
I just- I love you. And I miss you. And I’d do anything to go back to what we had. I’d do anything to get- to get you back.
...
I’m sorry.
...
Tumblr media
the clip comes to an automatic stop. the white triangle slapped onto the screen, begging you to play it again. you look up from the screen, watching the famous calvin klein ad that hasn’t stopped playing in the last month.
he hasn’t changed one bit. not his hair, not his smile, not his voice.
it’s a bittersweet pot of memory stashed in the back of your head when the memories flood back. looking back down at the camera, you count back the days - it was synced just last night.
the pile of tissues by your thighs are carelessly huddled into the bin next to your feet, mentally berating yourself for going through the memory instead of formatting it.
you stand, fingers shutting the screen back onto its body with a soft click. the tv blacks out when you press the red button on its remote.
you’re halfway into your kitchen when there’s a knock at your door, and you immediately gasp, blinking rapidly.
“oh, it’s my fucking projector!”
rushing to the door, you don’t hesitate to get the door open.
and yet, like the heavens were providing you with all the light to stop you from doubting yourself, your lungs empty themselves like vacuums.
your heart stops.
your breathing stops.
“eric... what are you doing here?”

the capstone - chapter one
Tumblr media
Summary: Reader is a semester away from getting her masters in Psychology and duringher last semester she has to complete her capstone, or passion project if you will. This year, the professors decided that each student will be personally mentored by a psycologyst in distinct fields. When Y/N meets hers, she can’t decide whether she is lucky or if it will be a long 5 months.
Pairing: Female reader x Spencer Reid
Word Count: 1.8 k
Chapter warning: harsh language, sexy talk, no smut yet
A/N: omg tysm for all of the love on the teaser post. i hope i dont dissapoint.
Although I’m wide awake, I let my alarm clock keep beeping and beeping and beeping as I stare up at the white ceiling of my cheap studio apartment. My neighbor woke me up bright and early this morning by doing what sounded like lugging a dead body throughout his apartment. I lifted my head slightly just to slam it back against my bed, whining about being awake at 5:30 am. I’m probably just nervous. I have to complete this passion project for my psychology class by being mentored by a famous psychologist and write a paper about their career and their wisdom I guess. I have a meeting with my mentor today and I don’t know what to expect. My professor kept the identity of our mentors a secret. For the “excitement” and whatnot.
With a sigh, I swing my legs over the side of my bed and bend over to switch off the alarm. Resting my elbows on my knees, I run my hands down my face, basically prepping myself for the fact that I have to stand up soon. The moment I stand, I stretch all throughout my body, ending with my hands high above my head, stretching into the ceiling. My mouth getting ready to yawn when a bang was heard next door, like a book being chucked against the wall ajoined with my neighbors apartment causing me to yelp. I’m pretty sure I heard a chuckle in response to my scream. I glared at the wall, thinking of all the ways I could storm in there and punch my neighbor. I had two choices. I could storm in there and do all the things I wish I could do, or I could mind my business and get ready for the day.
Rolling my eyes I decided to just get ready. I still wanted payback, however, I blasted Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now by The Smiths as I head into the showe. I grab brown trousers, a white button up, and a sage green set of lace undergarments. Not that anyone would see them, unfortunately there has been a drought of sorts in my pants. I just wear them for the aesthetic. Getting undressed, I put on my favorite playlist with all of the songs that make me feel like I’m the main character in an indie film. I heard a light tapping at my door, like some wanted my attention but at the same time wished I never paid attention to them. I decided to ignore it and step under the stream of water in my shower.
Once I was all finished with my shower, I stepped out into my foggy bathroom. Singing along to Bug Collector by Haley Heynderickx, I start drying off and slip on my outfit for the day. I keep my hair in a towel to help it dry some so I don’t have to use any heat on my hair. For my makeup I decided to go for a red lip, neutral blush, mascara, and brows today. Something simple and professional. I let my hair out of the towel and brush it out, not doing too much to it. Blowing myself a kiss in the mirror, I grab my purse and wrap my student ID around my neck, letting it fall next to the golden flower chained to my neck.When I open the door, I laugh in shock at the note my neighbor left for me.“nice taste in music”
I felt something against my leg and knew exactly who it was. “Hi, Payton,” I sweetly spoke to the Sphynx cat at my feet. I named her Payton even though she’s not technically mine and just wanders through the apartment complex. I bend down to give her scratches at her neck. “How’s my cutie patootie. Did you see the asshole who left this not?” She just tilted her head more into my hand, telling me to keep on scratching. “Guess not.” I stand back up and check the time on my watch, “Shit”. I had five minutes to get there.
-----
A bell rang as I entered the coffee shop I was supposed to meet my mentor at, of course with my favorite mask on. My eyes scan the place a little before I walk up to the counter to order my favorite drink. “Hi can I just get a 16 ounce Earl Grey, please?” The barista said something along the lines of yes of course and how my total was 2.16. “Alrighty, thank you.” It didn’t take too long for it to be done. They weren’t very busy and it’s just a tea bag and hot water.
“Excuse me, are you Y/F/N Y/L/N?”
Woah. His voice sent a tingle down my spine. Probably just because I haven’t had much human contact or the fact that I haven’t been laid in a while but, my god, what I would give for him to say my name again. But that was nothing compared to what I saw when I turned around. I’m just glad I was wearing a mask so he didn’t the way my lips parted when my eyes met his. He had curly brown hair and he dressed like an old man, doesn’t sound like much but for me, that’s everything. Oh my gosh, and he had nerdy little cute glasses? When I realized I was staring I averted my eyes and started blushing.
“Um, yes, hi, that’s my name. I’m so sorry, but what’s your name?” The tremor in my voice made me want to just drop dead. I’m a woman of science but if the Earth knew how to open up and swallow people, now would be the time to prove it.
“Oh hi. I’m Doctor Spencer Reid. I’m your psychology mentor. Did your professor not tell you?” He seemed so confused, oh my god he’s so cute.
“Oh. Oh my God I’m so sorry! My professor didn’t let us know who was mentoring us, just in case we did prior research or something. I’m sorry. But yes um I’m Y/N. It’s very nice to meet you, sir,” I kept on rambling, looking anywhere but his eyes. Unfortunately, it made me look like I was checking him out. Oh fuck.
Chuckling a bit, he goes, “Oh no your fine. No need to apalogize. It’s a pleasure to meet you miss Y/N.” Not going to lie, the way he said my name sent tingles to my pussy. Oh my god what is wrong with me! I can’t be thinking these things about the person who is going to mentor me! Stop being so horny.
I started to blush and I cleared my throat and gestured towards the window. “Um, should we go sit out there?”
“Oh yes of course. Please after you,” he said, his hand finding the small of my back, hitching my breath and making me nervously mess with the rings on my fingers. We sat at the iron tables outside of the coffee shop, he pulled my chair open for me, finally his hands off of me. I felt like I could breathe again but at the same time I felt sad, empty. He took off his mask to take a sip of what he was drinking and holy shit. He had some scruff and his lips just looked so inviting. I wanted to distract from the silence that was biting at me. “So, uh, what do you do?” My voice trailing off, making everything so much heavier with awkwardness and the sexual tension that was just coming from me.
“What do you mean what do I do?” Fuck. I looked so stupid of course he does something in pschology. That’s the whole reason you’re here.
“W-well, um, like what specific area do you work in?”
“I do criminal profiling with the Behavioral Analysis Unit of the FBI.” My eyebrows bunch together in confusion. What does that have to do with psychology? Almost as if he’s reading my mind he continues, “We psycho analyze crime scenes, victims, bodies to understand why a criminal would do what they did, which helps us to understand the type of person they are, their background, and it leads us to the criminal, or unsub.”
“Wow that’s actually really cool. But, like, how does that all work?”
“Tell me, Y/N, when was the last time you had sex?” I didn’t say anything. I was so shocked. First off, how inappropriate, but also how did he know? “When I first walked in, you kept on looking me up and down as if you’ve never seen a man before. You keep fidgeting with your rings. Usually new jewelry makes people fidget but the stains on your fingers suggest you wear rings frequently which means you're nervous. Also ever since I’ve taken my mask offyou haven’t stopped staring at my lips. So, sweet girl, tell me when was the last time you were satisfied?”
I just sat there, gapping at him like a fish out of water. What was I supposed to say? Why thank you for asking, although the last time I’ve had sex was a year ago but the last time I’ve orgasmed has been longer? Before I could come up with an answer he got a phone call. Someone named Morgan needed him or something. Whatever it was, it seemed urgent.“Sorry our meeting got cut short, Y/N. Very important FBI business came up. Here is my card, has my name, email and phone number. I recommend calling me because I don’t usually check my emails or my texts. Your professor already gave me your contact information so I know how to find you. I am very excited for the upcoming months.”
“Oh- uh, thank you,” I whispered, still shocked. He grabs my hand so that he can hand me my card since I haven’t moved a muscle.
“Oh and Y/N?” My head wips up at him and I let out a “hmm?” that could be mistaken for a moan. “Green is a nice color on you.” Confused, I looked down to see my button up shirt had popped open, letting my green covered tits be seen by the world. Eyes blown open, I immediately cover myself and say a thank you that sounded so embarrassing because my voice cracked. He just chucked and told me he would contact me soon. Before he left, I could’ve sworn he looked at me as if I was a sexy hollywood actress or something. But I brushed it off. Maybe he was concerned for me. After all, I had my tits out and made it obvious that I was desperately horny. God these five months will be awful if I keep thinking about Dr. Reid as a sex partner than a mentor. Then again the concept of having sex with your mentor can be hot. Nope. No. I should stop there.

Hey! I just wanted to ask what parts do Amy, Rouge and Blaze have? Do they know about the boys' powers and destinies, or are they figuring it out on their own? Are they friends with each other? Have they known the boys for a long time? (Sorry, I know thats a lot 😅) still love your au so much! 💖
SUCH GOOD QUESTIONS.
I have been SO EXCITED to answer this ask! You may want to pull up a chair, this is probably gonna be more than you bargained for. :)
Quick clarifying point first: The boys aren’t actually ‘destined’ for anything— there’s no prophesy or chosen one thing going on in this universe, although perhaps it initially seems that way. Tikal is not a deity but the spirit of a young mortal girl; she gets the boys involved simply because she feels she needs help and they seem like good guys who also have the potential to harness chaos power. That may seem like a random detail but it’s kinda important in the story so there you go. :) Onward to questions!
All three of these girls play big roles in this story and are in different grades: Amy is a 16 yr old sophomore, while Blaze and Rouge are 17 yr old juniors. Blaze and Amy became friends in an elective cooking class they took together last year, in which Amy excelled while Blaze somehow managed to burn almost everything she touched. Amy helped her through it though. :)
Tumblr media
Amy has known Sonic (a junior) since late elementary school, meeting him some time after Tails and before Knuckles. She’s had a crush on him since FOREVER, and she used to be a lot more blatant about it. However, as they’ve gotten older, it’s become something more subtle on her end—she eventually figured out Sonic is an extremely late bloomer, and they have a great friendship. She definitely still likes him though, and it definitely plays a role in the story. Sonic likes her too but hasn’t really realized it yet/has been subconsciously avoiding it up to this point because he’s nervous.
Tumblr media
Blaze and Silver (a 16 yr old sophomore) have been friends for a very long time—they live on the same street but have always gone to different schools since the school boundaries cut right down the center of their road. However, at the start of this semester, the boundaries change to include Silver’s side of the street. So when the story starts, he has just moved to Blaze’s school, Green Hill High. They are incredibly close and talk about everything.
Tumblr media
The first friend Silver meets at Green Hill aside from Blaze is actually Amy. Their lockers are really close to each other and she helps him feel welcome with her bubbly, kind personality. Amy is also the first person Silver talks to about his crush on Blaze (which he’s just realized exists of course). She talks to him about Sonic too, and they give each other advice :)
Tumblr media
Other than Rouge, no one at Green Hill initially knew Shadow. Shadow originally lived in a different part of town with his family: the scientist Dr. Gerald Robotnik and his niece Maria, Shadow’s sister (Shadow was adopted around the age of 8). Shadow was homeschooled up until high school but even then he lived in a different school district than everyone else. He was incredibly close with his sister with whom he shared a love of astronomy, and he was very dedicated in helping her manage her Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
Then one night, when he and Maria were hanging out at the lab, it was violently broken into. The intruders seemed to be robots, not people, although those memories are hard for Shadow to remember clearly now. During the break-in, Shadow and Maria tried to escape, but Maria was killed in an act to protect her brother. Gerald went missing, and at the start of the story still has not been found and is presumed dead. Shadow was taken into the foster care system, and in an effort to help him heal from the trauma, he was moved to a different part of town—Sonic’s school district. It's then that Sonic and Silver first meet him.
Shadow has done extracurricular martial arts at the local rec center for years, which is how he first met Rouge. They became close, which was a rarity for Shadow even before the recent tragedy just because he was so introverted. Rouge met Shadow’s family once or twice before the incident and liked them (she and Shadow mostly hung out away from his home just because Shadow’s home was a very private space to him). She went to Maria’s funeral. She’s one of the only ones who can make Shadow smile these days.
Tumblr media
Rouge moves in a slightly different social circle than the rest of the cast, so no one at Green Hill knows her very well before they meet her through Shadow. However, she and Sonic have interacted a bit (it’s hard not to know the school’s track star) and she kissed Knuckles once in middle school-- he couldn’t look her in the eye for a year. :)
Aaaaaand Amy and Shadow meet formally when Shadow wanders into a flower shop thinking about applying for a job, and Amy happens to work there. :)
Tumblr media
None of the girls know about the boys’ powers—at first. They each learn about things at different times.
Rouge finds out when Shadow does something stupid and hurts himself on a mission and she has to be taken into the boys’ confidence in order to help. She definitely chews Shadow out big time for not telling her things earlier and for being stupid in the first place (which was due to him being hurt and angry about some new information and trying to take care of things himself instead of letting others help him).
Blaze is the most suspicious before finding out—who wouldn’t be when their best friend suddenly stopped sharing things with them and was gone for long periods of time with two strangers, only to offer terrible excuses for doing so? Blaze definitely wants Silver to make friends at Green Hill, but everything about the situation just seems weird. Though she’s heard through Amy that Sonic is a good guy, she has no idea how trustworthy his judgement is, and the mysterious new student Shadow makes her nervous. She’s worried about Silver’s naivety and what he could be getting involved in. And it kills Silver to not be able to tell her (he and the others promised Tikal not to tell anybody anything about what’s going on). Eventually Blaze’s concern-turned-frustration boils over, and when Silver still can’t give her a straight answer, it causes a big angry, hurt rift on both sides.
After this, however, Blaze is by chance attacked by some of the robots. Silver ends up saving her. While she doesn’t recognize him at the time due to the whole chaos-warps-reality thing, he says something during that instance that sounds too familiar. It takes her a while, but eventually Blaze figures it out and has the panicky thought process of wait. Oh my gosh wait that had to be HIM. But it didn’t look like him… but he’s the only one who knows about [thing] and could have said that, oh my goodness it HAD to have been him--!!
Amy is the last of the girls to find out about the boys’ dual lives but she’s the first to interact with them in their superhero forms. While she doesn’t recognize them at the time, the first time Amy meets them, she stops them during a fight and is the one who puts the idea in their heads that perhaps some of these robots they’re fighting aren’t just robots-- maybe there’s something more to them. As time goes on, Amy interacts with the boys in their chaos forms frequently, helping out and stuff. She really likes them and finds it incredibly fun and meaningful to be connected to this secret protection force she’s discovered. Eventually however, Amy has a mini-crisis: the boy in the green and blue suit in this superhero band is really attractive, and he’s stirring inside her some of the same feelings she gets around Sonic. But Amy is loyal to Sonic and loves Sonic and wants to be with Sonic, but everything becomes very confusing and it eventually gets to the point where she doesn’t know what to think anymore, ahhhhhh--!!
So what happens when the girls eventually all find out about the boys’ powers and stuff? They join the party! Amy and Blaze both learn how to perform chaos control and gain cool powers themselves: Amy (along with the help she was already providing), is able to manifest her hammer and use it with incredible strength, while Blaze gets pyrokinesis (chaos powers are random and weird guys just roll with it). Rouge does not use chaos control (though it’s hard to get her to keep her hands off the emeralds because they are just so shinnyyy). However, she becomes a huge asset by contributing in intelligence, her flight ability, and her natural skills in stealth and espionage.

note: okay! So after talking with someone, they helped me with a lot of things about college/university, since I'm only in high school—I do not know how they function. I was told there wasn't a comestic major offered in college but since this is a fanFICTION, Maria University is just gonna be a school for everything.
they suggested I change their major to fashion since its similar to comestics but there's already a fanfic on wattapad that consists of a black y/n being a fashion designer and I don't want to be accuse of stealing their work or idea. Not to mention, it'll mess up with the whole plot I had a in mind, so please bare with me.
Basically what I'm saying is, things regarding the school and different majors etc; will be different. But everything other than that will be how it'll work in modern times. Also a big thank you to @coconutxraikage I really appreciate you ♡ I'm going to add this note everytime I upload a chapter, just to make things clear. I'm also going to be adding links  anytime I describe an outfit or an area, just incase readers enjoy seeing than reading. For me, I'm more of an visual person.

Chapter 3:
Stepping into the room, everyone was already at their seats. All eyes stopped and stared at you, you stood there awkwardly for a second before you quickly walked towards the bag of the classroom.
You searched for an empty chair and luckily you found one. It was next to girl, she had a resting bitch face which made you unsure if she wanted anyone to sit next to her. But you had no time to spare and sat down next to her.
The girl was obviously black as well, you can tell from her features. She had long black hair with her edges slayed, you weren't sure if it was a lace front or her real hair but it didn't matter—she looked really pretty. She had long false eyelashes which went well with her eyeshadow and lipgloss. She had two golden necklaces around her chest, one was a snake with little daggers along the side and the other was a simple pendant, in addition with her cross earings. You couldn't see her full outfit but she had on a long sleeve white top and checkered skirt? You couldn't tell.
You looked ahead and saw there wasn't a teacher, was this the wrong class again? You were so tired and wanted this day to be over already. You decided to ask the girl next to you,
"The teacher Mr.Fargo, right?" You looked at her.
"Yeah but his ass ain't here, imagine being late on the first day of class." She replied.
All the anxiety you had before came to a closure, you were in the right room.
"okay good, cause I was running around this building like I was stupid."
She looked back at you with a smile,
"Girl same! I did not know where to go, but i got here earlier so I wasn't late like you." She said the last part with a laugh, she was obviously just messing with you.
"shut up, we both didn't know where we was. Look at us twinin' already." You rolled your eyes as she placed her forehead on the back of her hand and laughed.
"My name's Daniyah, you?" Daniyah, she was definitely black. Mom's have a thing for ending their child's name with a "niyah". But the name fit her, she was a pretty lightskin.
"Oh— I'm y/n." You responded.
"Awwn, that name cute and I like your shoes." she glanced down at your feet.
"Thank you." Looking around the room, you noticed it was a decent of twenty students. Most of them were white, you only spotted a few poc here and there.
"Why am I in a room with a bunch of crackas..." you said to yourself.
Daniyah seems to heard you,
"Oh my gosh!!! You can't say that, it's a slur to white people." She was joking and you decided to go along.
"Sorry! You're right, I meant Klans membe—I mean! massa—wait no colonizers."
Daniyah burst into laughter, lightly nudging you. You followed along and started to laugh as well.
"Sis pleaasee, talking about some klans member," she continued on, lightly muffling her laugh.
"But we are in a room full of massa's, I think the teacher's white too."
You kinda expected that. You didn't think a poc could have the last name 'fargo'. You just prayed they didn't overly use AAVE, it always made you uncomfortable when non-poc did that.
"he's hella lat—" cutting you off, a large thud sound of the door hitting the wall was made as a tall guy with starbucks and his laptop walks in.
"Sorry guys! I'm really late, traffic was annoying." It was Mr. Fargo, he was wearing black pants, with a tucked in black n white striped short sleeved shirt. Under his shirt he wore black long sleeves, it went well with his slender body. To finish the outfit, he simply wore black combat boots. Awooga, He could dress good—go white boy, go!
He stopped by his desk in the front and dropped off his stuff, he also placed his long trench coat on his seat.
The blonde man leaned against his desk and took a good look at the class—he clapped his hands together and spoke,
"Okay class! Hello, my name is Derek Fargo but you all may call me Mr.Fargo— or Derek, whichever you prefer. I'm not too big on sir names." He said with a smile.
Pulling out the office chair, he took a seat and opened his laptop. He began calling names for attendance as others answered "here" or a simple greeting.
"Y/n L/n?" He spoke.
You lifted your head and said,
"yo."
Daniyah snickered next to you,
"Yo!" She mocked you in a male voice, trying to sound like those annoying boys who thought they were cool.
You nudged her arm in response and whined for her to stop.
"Ms.Lawfoot?"
"Here sir." Daniyah raised her hand slightly as Mr.Fargo nodded and typed into his computer.
Once he was done taking attendance, he started class. He talked about the curriculum and other activities that'll be going this semester.
"By the way, we'll be working with other majors. Especially photography and graphic designs." He continued on,
"We have a few modeling agencies that comes here often and uses one of the empty rooms in the next door building. Usually, students in the photography major use these opportunities to get a job at these agencies and take photos of models,"
"This goes for us too. Most modeling agency hire cosmetologist to help prepare their models for photo shoots or runways."
Next door building? Wait was it—? Nah, it couldn't be. You blocked out your own thoughts and continued to listen.
"They also have amateur models, ones who are new to the business. Those are the ones we'll be working with most of the time."
He continued on talking about the different opportunities and things you'll be experiencing.
                                ~~~
After finishing Mr. Fargo's class and long ass lecture hall, it was time for lunch.
Immediately you pulled out your phone and messaged yumi, to see if she was free.
"Aw shii, I forgot to get Daniyah's number. Hopefully I get to run into that lighskin again." You said to yourself, you continued to contact yumi.
                  colonizer but times 2🧑🏻‍🦲
                               What you eatin for lunch?
Idk, I was going to ask u what you wanted to eat
                                Girl, if you don't flip a coin
and pick a place.
LOOL😭
Let's just to the food court
& see what they have 🦲
Awe okay, I'll go there
and wait for you🤨
Read at 11:35
You were already in the halls and decided to head towards the food court, since you saw it earlier on your way to the lecture hall.
The halls were pretty packed since most people lunches were around this time, a few people bumped into you and you glared at them in response as they muttered apologies.
Halfway at the food court, an average height male bumps into you—making you drop your phone as the the case comes off as well.
"What the fuck?!" You said outloud but only for him to hear, since you didn't want to make a scene.
"ah! I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I  was going." He bent down and picked up your phone along with the case, popping it back In place.
You took your phone from him and decided to get a good look at this asshole who bumped into you. The boy was blonde with an undercut, along with basic blue eyes. He seemed around 5'10? He had on brown cuff pants with long black jacket that stopped at his knees, he topped it off with a black sleeved top and a bag wrapped around his torso.
What was up with everyone and knowing how to dress? The blonde broke your train of thought and spoke,
"Um...do you know where the food court is?" He said softly
"You made me dropped my phone, why would I tell you?" You responded in an annoyed tone.
"I'm really sorry, I didn't know... if there's a crack, I  can pay fo—" he was cut off by the motion of you already walking away. He just stood there in awe and guilt.
"Come on, or do you not want food?" You continued on walking but at a slower space for the male could catch up. This bought a small smile to his face and followed behind you.
"What you smiling for? Did you purposely bump into me to ask me this? Withcho' evil ass." You turned your heard to look at the blonde, he was panicking—you guessed he didn't catch on to your joke/sarcasm.
"No?! I really didn't mean to, I was—" he was getting defensive, you were only fucking with him.
"Boy I'm joking, no need to get defensive." You let out a giggle.
"Oh..." he responded back with an awkward smile.
You guys were already at your destination. bzzzt, bzzt it was coming from your phone, you looked at the screen and saw it was your best friend, you picked up.
"Where are you?" The background was loud and her voice was a bit muffled.
"I'm next to chick–flil–a" you looked to your left, just to make sure you were correct. The man besides you just stood there next to you and watched you. "Wasn't this man suppose to go eat?" You thought to yourself.
"Oop— I see you, look up." you did what yume said and saw her waving at you from across the area. She did a little jog towards you as you placed your back into your pocket. Once she reached you, you pulled her into the a hug as she returned it back.
"Hiiii! How was your day kiddo?" She joked.
"Shitty,  but at least you're here so I can complain about it."
The male laughed at your remark, which cause both of you to look at him.
"Whos this? You catching men already?" Yume raised a brow at you then glanced at him.
"Dunno, he just started to follow me." You replied in jokingly manner, of course yume caught on.
"Yo? What the hell, you're weird." She said in a serious tone, trying her best to hide her laughter.
"That's not true! You know that's not true," he turned towards you direction.
"I bumped into her on accident and asked her to show me food court." At that exact moment, you and yume started cackling like crazy. You loved this about her, she always caught your vibe.
"We're just messing with ya!" Yume was covering her smile with the back of her hand. The boy just stood there and nodded uncomfortably, since he wasn't the only one laughing.
"I'm Yume, and you?"
"I'm Armin" he flashed her a small smile.
"Armin? That's a cute name, awwn. It totally fits you." Yume returned the smile, a small blush spreaded across his cheek at the girl's remark.
"Naahh, yall ain't gonna sit up here and flirt." You shook your head.
Yume giggled as Armin scratched his head.
"Did you decide on a place to eat?" The question was directed at yume.
"Uhh, no? I didn't have a coin to flip."
"Girl— goodbye." You turned to armin,
"You got any places?" He placed his hand on his chin, looking up trying to recall food place that he knows they'll have.
He suggested a fast food place as you guys both agreed with his choice. The three of you trailed over to the place and stood in line.
Once it was you guys turn, yume and armin ordered and you did the same. After grabbing your food, you all sat at a table and ate. Yume and Armin were hitting up and chatting; soon after she asked about your day since you didn't know what building you were in. You went on and explain, you included all the things Mr. Fargo said as well, which caught Armin's attention.
"Wait you're in that Major? I'm taking fashion, I plan to be a designer."
"The name's y/n but yeah. You look like a future designer." You referring to his outfit, it was really nice.
"Armin!" A voice called out to him, all three of you guys turned to see who it was. Your face dropped at the realization, it the was boy from this morning.
"Oh Eren! Come over here and eat with us." You wanted to kick him, how dare he just invite someone without asking you or yume. You glanced over at yume but she was too busy eating.
The brunette boy was now at the table and gave armin a fist bump. He looked at the table and seemed to notice you,
"Hey beautiful." He was talking to you, you wanted to melt right there and then.
Guilt (Part 2): The Market
(Din Djarin x ForceSensitive!F!Reader)
Part 1 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5 Part 6
Tumblr media
Description: Moff Gideon has found someone else to run his experiments on and word gets back to Din. Will he take his son far away and try and find somewhere safe? Or will the guilt of an innocent being put in his son’s place eat away at him? (No Y/N or ___ used)
Word Count: 4.5K
Warnings: violence, mention of blood, needles, crude talk, symtoms of anxiety attack, fluff, angst, implied death and death, let me know if I'm missing any
A/N: This took a while to write because I was really distraught after Chpt 14. Also planning on turning this into a little series. I'm going to try and finish it before my next semester starts in Feb. I also don’t know how to write fight sequences so sorry in advance.
You see a stormtrooper take aim at your rescuer. Right when he pulls the trigger, you reach your hand out screaming, “NO!”
It was supposed to miss him. It missed him before. Instead of bending out of the way, it hits him and the Mandalorian goes down fast. Before you know it, more troopers come, grabbing Dr. Pershing and dragging him away. They start coming towards you when you hear yourself say, “No, please no!” You could run towards the speeders, but there’s too many of them now, they can catch up easier. Looking back at the shiny man, tears leave your eyes. You were supposes to save him. That’s how it was supposed to happen. You start screaming the only name you know for him as a stormtrooper grabs your arms and has them twisted behind your back. Dragging you back to where you escaped from, the stormtrooper is calling your name.
He keeps calling it as he shakes your arms then follows it with, “Wake up.” Why does that mechanical voice sound different from the rest? The words echo in your head. Wake up. Wake up. Wake up.
The stormtrooper helmets transforms into the one of the Mandalorian as you open your eyes. His hands leave your upper arms as he crouches in front of you. Still disoriented, your own hand comes up to your cheeks to shield your face when you realize it feels damp to the touch. Closing your eyes again and taking deep breathes you have to tell yourself over and over again: He’s here. I’m here. It was just a dream. Finally calmed down, you open your eyes to Mando still squatting in front of you.
“You okay?” His modulated voice says to you. Nodding your head while wiping way the last of the tears, you can’t help but feel heat rise to your cheeks, wishing you could just disappear as you sink further into the copilot chair. “You want to talk about it?” he tentatively asks next. If it were anyone else, you would’ve probably said no, but seeing his tenderness as he cared for Grogu over the past few hours in hyperspace makes you give in.
“We- we were back there, about to get on the speeders,” your heart rate picks up again thinking of it. You have no idea why the dream is affecting you this much. Continuing on with a shaky voice, “The stormtrooper, h- he shot you before I- I could- and” tears were forming in your eyes again, “and they st- started dragging me off and-” your voice suddenly barely above a whisper as you continue, “you weren’t moving.”
You shouldn’t have shared it. Oh gosh, you wish you could take it back now. He hasn’t said anything. He probably thinks you’re weak now, unable to handle yourself, let alone a nightmare. It was a stupid dream, you are about to tell him when you hear him sigh, “Give me your hand.” Confused, you hesitate, causing him to tilt his helmet to the side and hold out his hand. Giving in, you hold out your own, placing it in his still hesitant. Moving his hand down to your wrist, gripping it lightly as he moves it his chest plate, he speaks again, “Feel this? This is beskar, strong enough to withstand blaster shots. While what you did was impressive, all you stopped from happening is me having to clean my back plate later.” Your face falls at this, noticing it, he brings his other hand over yours. You feel all the heat you have left in your body run up to your face. He declares, “That dream wouldn’t have come true. You’re safe. They won’t get to you again, I promise.”
Still with your hand against the cool metal, all you can say is, “Oh. Thank you.” You wait for him to let go of your hand and wrist before you pull away, but he still hasn’t. Grogu stirs on the chair to your right, waking up after seeming to have slept through your nightmare. As if the noise startled Mando, he finally lets go and picks up his son. Clanking could be heard coming up from the ladder.
Mando sits back in the pilot chair with the little green child who keeps trying to reach for the different buttons on his lap, as Dr. Pershing also seems to have finally woken up. Coming into the cockpit carrying a discarded IV bag. Oops. Should have put that back in at some point.
Pershing comes as squats to the side of your chair, blocked off by the arm rest. “Looks like you’ve got some of your color back, which is good. Just to be safe, you should probably leave this in for longer.” Just nodding your head in response, scared your voice will falter, but now not knowing if it was from the dream or the prolonged touch of the beskar man. Or the fact that Pershing just pointed out how you’re blushing right in front of the person who caused in the first place.
Trying not to look up at Mando, due to sheer embarrassment, you fail at your task when he turns to watch Pershing with the child still on his lap. He tries to be causal of his hand on his thigh, a little too close to his blaster as the doctor gets closer to you, while Grogu plays with his fingers. Father and protector, you smile to yourself. Realizing your line of gaze, he moves his other hand to hold to his child and abruptly turns his chair towards the stars as you feel a cold pinch in your arm.
The next hour or so is spent in silence, preparing to land on who-knows-what-planet. As long as you can get off this chilly ship and descend out of the numbness of space, it doesn’t matter where. You might be being a little over-dramatic, but wearing a now torn, thin, short sleeved shirt, some sort of pants with blaster powder now littering it, and no shoes, you think you deserve the right to be just a tad dramatic. The IV bag is finally finished, so there’s one less ice-cold thing touching your skin. Still you shiver in your seat, not wanting to impose too much and ask for a blanket or a change of clothes. Hopefully wherever you get off is warm, or at least warmer.
Finally descending, you see tall, colorful structures, bright blue skies, and so much green. It’s beautiful. You can’t take your gaze off the gorgeous landscape getting larger before your eyes. Pulling your legs away from your chest, you brave the cold floor yet again to try and get a closer look. Audibly making a noise as you shiver, both men turn towards you, finally taking in your tattered appearance. With a static-y sigh, your starting to think that’s how he starts everything he says, the Mandalorian notes, “We should probably get you some better clothes.” His helmet points down to your feet, then tilts as he says, “And shoes.”
Bare feet hit the luscious green grass, toes curling and uncurling into it as you deeply inhale the fresh air. The sun hitting your skin makes you feel alive again, warming you from outside to inside. It’s as if you can feel the golden rays pouring out of you. You have never seen nature as brilliant and as vibrant as it is here, you never want to leave its warmth. Too caught up in your own little world, you don’t notice the two men start walking towards the city. Grogu babbling in Mando’s bag snaps you out of it and you slightly jog to try and catch up to them.
It takes a while to walk into the city, considering where Mando landed his ship. By the time you actually get there, your feet feel like one of the thousand rocks you’ve stepped on during this journey. The armored man barely seems to notice at first of you trailing behind, only stopping when the city is finally in view. So now to top of being cold and unequipped for this amount of walking, you are now tired. Grrrwwww. And hungry. Hopefully no one heard the atrocious noise your stomach just made. When was the last time you ate?
Mando must of heard it growl because before you can react, he tosses you a few credits and tells you to go get something to eat while he takes Pershing somewhere to set up his new life. You didn’t catch the last part because you’re already following your nose to the nearest source of food. While walking away you hear more static come out of his helmet, like he was sighing again, but it wasn’t the same as last time. It almost sounded like a laugh. Was... was he laughing at you? You whip your head around, but they’ve already disappeared. Shaking your head, you turn back and let your stomach take the lead again.
Mando and Grogu finally come back when you are all about done with this meat on a stick. They find you sitting in front of this little shop, eyes closed in bliss about finally eating. There’s barely anyone around, so it was not very hard to spot you. Finally looking up, ripping one of the last pieces off the kebob, you beam up at him. You don’t know it but seeing you happy after the events of this morning, brings a smile to the bounty hunter’s face. Offering his hand to help you stand, he asks, “Better?” You nod your head in response while he helps pull you up. Shoving he little piece of meat into your mouth, you hear his voice yet again, “What even is that?”
“I don’t know,” you counter. “All I know if that it smelled really good. Honestly if I knew what it was, I probably wouldn’t be able to eat it,” you finish with a giggle. He just nods, still without you seeing the smile planted on his face. You two walk side by side going into the city, with Grogu in a bag on his father’s hip of course.
You can hear the main part of the city before you actually see it. People are bustling, vendors litter the streets, it’s astonishing. And overwhelming, very overwhelming. Your breath hitches as you recall that a vendor was the way they found you before. But no, no you’re safe with the Mandalorian, he said they wouldn’t get to you. No, that he wouldn’t let them get to you. Without noticing, you start walking closer to Mando, more into his personal space than he usually likes. You’re close enough to graze his hand while walking, and right now you desperately want to reach out and grab it. Okay, it’s okay, just focus on your breathing, in and out, in and out.
Too busy trying to calm yourself, you don’t notice Mando look over at you after he felt you invade his space. He whispers to you, “Are you okay?” but the volume is too much to get his question to your ears. Instead he lightly puts his hand at the small of your back, causing you to slightly jump. Looking around, your line of vision finally falls on the bounty hunter’s arm, now removed from your back, moving back towards his side. A blush creeps up to your cheeks as your realize that he noticed you. Pull it together. You manage to walk only a few more feet until someone bumps into you and instinct takes over as you grab onto something to steady yourself. The thing that happens to be is Mando’s arm.
Luckily, he extends it behind your back to steady you, but not before sending the poor soul that accidentally bumped you what can only assumed is a death glare. That poor man turns as pale as a ghost. You almost forgot how menacing he could be. You’ve only been on the receiving end of Mando’s protection and don’t want to know what the opposite would be like. You two continue to walk with his arm guiding you, until you see it. Shoes. You nearly forgot about the pain in your feet until you saw them. Hand no longer on your back, you hurry forward, leaving the now frenzied and confused Mandalorian behind.
Reaching the stand, you turn to find Mando with his hand on his blaster and his bucket of a helmet frantically looking around the area for a sign of danger. The T of his visor finally looks back at you and you just mouth to him, shoes! and then point at your bare feet. He tilts his head to the side and you just know that he sighed. Shaking your head, you let out a huff of air that resembles a laugh at his signature way of expressing himself.
Before you know it, you have new shoes, already on your feet, a few shirts and two pairs of pants. Mando insisted you have layers because who knows where they might end up. This begs the question, what kind of trouble has he gotten into before, better yet what trouble are you getting yourself into? Babbles from a hidden baby remind you that maybe the trouble is worth it.
The shiny man and you continue walking around the marketplace of the city. He said he wanted to see if they had any spare parts that he could use for the Razor Crest and you were just happy to be wearing boots and having the extra time to break them in. “You can go look around if you want, I’m going to be over here,” Mando states as he inspects some round, gear-looking thing. Figuring you’d get bored of the mechanical items, you go to wander. “Hey,” the modulated voice cuts through again, “stay close.” Nodding, you only go two booths down to look at the books laid out.
Eyes scan to find anything remotely related to this thing, this power, you and Grogu possess. In the back of your mind also knowing you’re searching for something to tell you more about Mandalorian culture, as you have become intrigued by your new companion. While looking, something shiny, much like Mando, catches your eye. Turning to the next booth, the item seems to be a hair pin. You freeze.
A flower hair pin. Pearl in the center, with gray and white iridescent petals. No, no, no, no this can’t be happening. It feels like you can’t get enough air into your lungs. Your legs feel like lead, but you need to get out of there, you have to. The table has more unfinished glass pieces there too, just like before. They can find you. They can get you. They can get the baby. No that can’t happen, you force your tense legs to move as your hands shake. Backing up away from the stand, you bump into the book stand, letting a stack of books fall into the dirt. “Sorry, sorry,” you say with an unsteady voice. You need to find Mando, you need to find the baby, you need to -
Hands grab the back of your shoulders, as you think it’s over. You try to shake them off when you’re turned around to a familiar T visor. You stop fighting against him and grab his forearms. Your breathing still hasn’t slowed as he asks with a sternness you haven’t heard from him, “What happened?”
You can’t think of how to explain with your mind and heart racing and can only answer with, “We need to get out of here.” He pesters why to better understand the situation but all you can answer with is, “please,” as tears threaten to spill. “We need to get out of here please Mando.” He looks around confused, trying to find any source of danger, but turns his attention back to you when your grip tightens and you try to pull the three of you out of there.
He lets you lead him to the edge of the city, back towards the green scenery you landed in. Finally stopping you with his hands on your shoulders again, he calls your name, “You need to tell me what is going on.” Taking a few breaths trying to compose yourself, you explain how the day before you were taken, you were at a shop similar to the one you were at. How you saw this hair pin then cut your hand while the person working tried to help you clean up. Explaining how you thought nothing of it, until you realized they wanted your blood for experiments. You barely make it through telling him that you saw the same set up with the hair pin at that booth.
“That’s how they must have found me. We need to get out of here before they recognize us, please,” you plead. His helmet hangs down low as he slides one hand down to take your hand and begins walking back towards the ship.
Arriving back at the ship, Mando hands you the bag filled with new clothes, “Go change, I’ll take care of this.” Just thinking he meant to fly the three of you off the planet, you go into the ‘fresher and get ready to take off far away from here. Finally dressed and hearing the latch close, you climb up to the cockpit. Grogu gurgles and makes grabby hands for you to pick him up from the co-pilot seat. While doing so, you realize the pilot seat is empty.
“Where’s your dad, huh little one?” you coo at him. You called out to Mando to get no response. Attempting to climb down the ladder with the child wasn’t easy, especially still worried from before. You call out to Mando again, this time more frantic as he’s nowhere to be found. Your hear rate increase as you search the ship. Pressing the button you think would open the latch of the ship does nothing. What? did he lock you in here? You open some cabinets to be met with his armory. Picking up a blaster, you start rambling to the kid, “Your dad won’t mind right? Yeah, he’d want you protected. I won’t need to use it, but just in case. Yeah, just in case. Why don’t we also hang out in the cockpit away from the doors? Sound good?” You’re only met with muffled babbles back as Grogu sticks his stubby hand in his mouth. “Yeah, we’re going to be okay. Nothing is going to happen.” You hope.
Back in the city, Din is looking for a stand that has this... hair pin? Does he even know what one of those looks like? He’ll figure it out, you knocked some books over, so he decides he’ll start there. Unfortunately for Din, most of the vendors are closing down their booths. Dank farrik. He’s got to move quickly before they’re all closed.
Speed walking, he comes across the same man working the booth Din was at before you panicked. He asks the man if he knows if there is a booth that sells this item, and thankfully he points Din in the right direction. Four booths down. The people who wanted his child, and now you, could’ve been four booths down from him and he had no idea. Now’s not the time to beat himself up over this, he needs answers. Stalking up to the table, he’s met with a young man cleaning up the stand. Without looking up the man says, “What can I help you with?” Din’s hand ghosts over the pin you described to him and sees the many broken pieces scattered on the table.
“Seems a little... unsafe having all of these around,” Din observes while now moving around the table. The man finally looking up, goes white in the face and begins to run. Why do they always think they can outrun me? Chasing the man down an alley, Din uses his grappling hook around his feet and the man goes tumbling to the ground. Grabbing him by the collar to face him. Anger laced through his modulated voice, “Did you follow us?”
“Nope, just the lucky bastard that happened to be on the same planet as you,” He spits out. Din notices that he moves his jaw to the side, but the man continues, “Don’t worry they’ll find you and the child soon. Oh, and I’m sure the troopers will have a good time with that pretty little girl you have once  they get their hands on her.” Before Din can land a hand on this guy, he bites down on something and there’s electricity everywhere, just like he saw with Bo Katan. Din barely jumps off the man in time. Now full of adrenaline and anger he stands there for a few seconds thinking of his next move. Kriff. He needs to get back to you and his son.
You are sitting on the cold floor of the cockpit, with Grogu on your lap, hand hovering the blaster that is next to you on the ground. Banging coming from the Crest makes you jump. It sounds like the hatch opens, so you clutch Grogu closer and pick up the blaster as you stand up. The pram is still in the cockpit, so you put the baby that is pulling your hair in and close it. Going to the opening between the levels, with shaky hands, you raise the blaster and wait. Clanging can be heard when you finally hear Mando call your name and the kid’s.
Hopping down the ladder, blaster still in hand, you smile at him as he stands still. “What the hell are you doing with that,” he barks at you. You stand there dumbfounded, he’s the one that left you in the ship with his child. He should be glad your first thought was to protect him. He continues with his hands on his hips, “Do you even know how to use that?”
Still startled, you stammer, “You just- point and shoot?” With that his hands go up in astonishment and back down again, almost as if he’s saying, are you kriffing kidding me? Why is he so angry right now?
“You’re - you’re the one that left me, that left us here,” you point back up to the cockpit, “I didn’t know if someone else could get in or not. Why are you so angry at me for trying to protect your son?”
“You could have shot him or yourself, you don’t even know how to use it,” his voice raises and he takes it out of your hand.
“I’m not the one that left us here defenseless!” you scream. Both of you stand there for second huffing at each other. Finally thinking a little bit more rationally, you ask, “Where did you even go?”
Pushing past you, he put something in your hand, “I took care of it.” He climbs the ladder as you look. The hair pin. He took care of it? He took care of it. Your face falls thinking of what that means. Following him back up, you take Grogu from the pram and place him on your hip.
“You took care of it?” you say astonished, “Care to elaborate?” Mando sits in the pilot chair already plotting a new location.
“No.” Your eyes go wide as he spins the chair to face you. “I’m flying us out of here and I-,” his hands go up in defeat, “I need to eat. I’ll tell you when it’s safe to come up.” He sounds less angry but still very annoyed. At this point you’re fuming. You spin on your heels with Grogu playfully slapping his little 3-fingered hand across your face for attention.
You leave the cockpit and grab two food packets on the crate before the ladder opening. Stuffing them in your pocket, you try to maneuver yet again down the ladder with a baby clinging to you. Hopping off the last wrung, you go to sit on the crates you woke up on. Opening the packets, you help feed Grogu his.
Why was he so mad? If anything, he should be thankful that you were being resourceful. And after the past couple of days you think you deserve the right to be a little worked up about things like this. The anger is fueling you right now. It keeps spiraling, you can feel the darkness surround you. This used to happen when you were younger. Your emotions would almost devour you whole. Luckily your mother would always tell you, it’s okay to have these emotions but don’t let them consume you. She would lead you through some breathing exercises to help you calm down. Oh, you wish she were here with you right now to help. Could she have known about this ability you have? That’s not important right now, you need to breath and calm down. While doing so, you feel two little hands come and rest on your chest, as to help you relax more. Playing with his ears, the weight of the day starts to set in. You feel your eyes start to droop and before you know it, you’re asleep yet again.
Din holds his head in his hands. He shouldn’t have snapped. He knows this. It’s just knowing that Moff Gideon and his Imps could be anywhere in the galaxy trying to find others like the two Jedi he seemed to have collected. Are you even a Jedi? He still has no idea how this even works. Din shakes his head trying to clear it of what that man said. The anger boils up in him thinking of what he said about you, about their hands on you. He wishes he could’ve gotten a few punches in on him. He got out easy.
He’d do anything to protect Grogu, he knows it and they know it. But now with you in the equation? He’s terrified. He doesn’t know what he got himself into with now both of you under his protection. You don’t know this but he saw you peeking through the opening, with your hands shaking holding the blaster and with such fear in your eyes. A pain springs up in his chest just thinking of it. Looking up towards the door, he thinks it might be time for him to stop hiding and time to go apologize for his behavior. He did just leave without explaining. You also have just been kidnapped and rescued in a matter of days. He sighs, remembering what you have gone through, and now with the reminder in the city. He should have been a little calmer and not taken out his frustrations out on you.
Putting his helmet back on, he opens the cockpit doors and climbs down the ladder again, only to hear soft snores. There you are with your back against the wall, with Grogu in your lap. Grogu’s eyes open and he starts to make, very slow, sleep filled, grabby hands at his dad. Carefully taking the baby out of your arms, he opens up his own bunk and places the child in his little hammock. Quiet babbling is directed at him and Din responds, “I know, I know, I’m getting her a pillow and blanket.”
Moving back over towards you with those items in hand, he places the pillow in its spot and carefully shifts you into a lying position, bringing your legs up onto the crates. After placing the blanket over you, Din moves the fallen pieces of hair out of your face. You look so peacefully, he can’t help but stare. Finally, he sighs, “I guess I better teach you how to shoot then.”
Timida part 5: Roger Taylor x OC
oof another chapter I swear once semester is over I’m going off on all the chapters but after finishing this one it honestly gave me some motivation so maybe new chap tomorrow?!?! thanks for reading! bennie <3
Mickey
You sat back down at the table with Roger and happily waited for your food. Carrie came by with your water and told you your food will be out soon.
Roger talked about his band practice a bit more while you patiently listened to him, you loved the way he talked so passionately about music his droopy eyes were wide with excitement even when he was talking about how he was arguing with his bandmates. He waved his hands excitedly while he explained how he played the drums.
“Brian and his stupid ideas always throwing everyone off. Freddie, our lead singer, had to agree with just so he can calm down. Deaky, our bassist, completely agreed with me that we didn’t need a whole bunch of background vocals on the song.” Right as he finished Carrie and another waiter came with two trays of food.
They set down multiple items of food that you saw on the menu, from pasta to pizza. You just watched as they set down plates and plates mouth agape.
“Does everything look good to you guys?” Carrie asked once the last plate of food was set down.
“Yes, everything looks perfect. Thank you so much.” Roger gave her a smile as she left.
You looked at Roger, then to the food on the table, and then back to Roger and started to laugh, you laughed until you had tears in your eyes and he joined you.
“Roger-” you said in between laughs “Why did you order so much?” just thinking about all the food on the table made you go into a fit of laughter again. You covered your mouth with both hands to try to stifle how loud your laugh was.
After a while, you calmed down enough to wipe the tears that were falling from your eyes.
“Well I didn’t know what you wanted to try and I always get the same thing when I come so I decided that I should get a couple of things on the menu,” he said shyly.
“A couple? Roger, it looks like you ordered the whole restaurant.” you jokingly teased.
He stared at you in silence sticking his chin out to the silverware that was set aside for you.
“Oh no Roger please serve yourself first.” You don’t know why you felt like this, maybe it was the way you were brought up.
He grabbed a plate and you felt yourself sigh with relief.
“What did you want to eat Mickey,” he said fork in hand gesturing at the plates of food.
“Huh” never in your life had you been served by a man. It’s not like you had a problem with it, it was just new to you. It felt wrong and you were sure that if your mother had been there she would have scolded you for not serving him.
“Well I think your a chicken parm type of girl,” He said while he cut about half of the chicken parmesan and put it on your plate.
“Andddd….” he drawled out, “I think you would also like some shrimp alfredo” putting another serving on your plate.
“And finally some pizza.” As he put 2 slices of pizza on the side of your plate.
Your eyes met his droopy blue ones and at that moment you felt something pull in your chest. You haven’t been in a relationship in years, you have been on dates since you’ve been living in England. But you always made an excuse to stop seeing the other person.
You have never met anyone like Roger though he was so confident and didn’t care what anyone had to say about him, and something about that scared you but it also made you more curious.
Roger lives such a different life than you. You like to only go out when you need to where he barely stays home, You like to stick to that shadows and not cause a scene while he needs everyone’s attention to feel satisfied. You are complete opposites it couldn’t work out in the long run.
But.
Every time he smiles at you or cracks a joke you feel like you are floating as if you two are the only people in the world. You haven’t known him for long… practically a day at most. But you couldn’t help to let yourself go a bit more while you’re with him.
He slid your plate back to you carefully as it was filled with food. You smiled and grabbed his plate and served him the same way he served you.
Walking out of the restaurant with full stomachs and 2 bags worth of leftovers you felt satisfied and honestly a bit sick. You both ate way too much and somehow he managed to convince you that you both needed desert.
He also refused to let you pay for the meal or even go half. He just put cash on the table and even left a good tip for Carrie too.
He opened the passenger seat for you again and gave him a small smile before getting in his car. He gently shut the door and jogged over to the driver’s side to get in.
“What do you want to do now Mick?” he asked as he started the car.
It was going to be nine but you didn’t have anything to do the next day except maybe for a couple of alterations but you were sure you could get those done quickly.
“I’m up for anything Roger.” You said as clasped your hands and put them on your lap.
He pulled out of the parking lot and started driving.
“Do you think it would be cool if we went by my apartment, Freddie really wanted to meet you and he’s probably hungry too.”
You felt your stomach drop a bit, you didn’t have anything against going into his apartment but what if he was expecting something from you? He brought you to a nice place for dinner and paid for everything.
“It’s okay if you don’t want to either Mickey, you can say no” he laughed a little to make you feel better.
“We can just drive around and once one of us thinks of something we can do that… is that okay with you?” he asked as he gently took one of your hands from your lap once he saw you picking at your skin.
You drove around listening to the soft music playing from his car and you allowed your mind to wander off for a bit. You don’t know how but you were suddenly weighing out the pros and cons of being with Roger. Pros: he is a really great guy, he is really kind and always pays attention to how you are feeling especially if it was something you were uncomfortable with. It also didn’t hurt that he was easy to look at. Cons: you are very inexperienced in relationships and especially with a man.
Your only other relationship had been with Olivia and you had been friends with her first before you actually dated. Everything seemed like it was moving too fast with Roger, which isn’t always a bad thing. You felt your stomach flip and you felt your food come up.
You pulled your hands from Roger’s to cover your mouth as you breathed in and out from your nose to try and calm yourself down.
“Mickey? Are you alright?” He asked looking over quickly at you before turning his eyes back to the road.
“I think I’m going to be sick Roger,” you said hands still clasped over your mouth as you shut your eyes trying to get ahold of the situation.
“Oh my gosh okay okay, let me find somewhere with a restroom Mickey.” He said as he made a sharp turn that only made things worse.
“Oh no Roger pull over pull over pull over.” you kept saying feeling your dinner rise.
He pulled over on the side of the small road that was thankfully not busy. You quickly found the door handle and jumped out of the car and emptied your stomach out on the side of the road.
Roger was by your side in a second pulling your hair back and repetitively asking if you were okay.
Once you were finished you felt gross and somehow even sicker. Your throat hurt and your stomach felt like it was throbbing for some reason.
Roger helped you get into the passenger seat again as you tried to get your breathing under control.
“I’m sorry Mickey I was driving too fast this is all my fault.”
Only Roger could make you throwing up and ruining your almost perfect date his fault.
“No Roger I’m sorry I don’t know why I got sick all of a sudden.” You said.
“My apartment is literally down the street I’d honestly feel a lot better if we could stop there first and get you some medicine before I take you home.”
That didn’t seem like too bad of an idea, you shook your head yes and felt your eyes start to drop feeling extra tired.
Roger started the car again and said “Don’t worry Mickey, I got you.”
thanks for reading!!
“I think you might be my soulmate.” I'm a sucker for soulmate Analogical.
How about platonic soulmates??? :D Gosh this one decided to go real sweet <3 thank you, Ace!
Ten Thousand
Soulmates were exceedingly rare, but legends told that the ten-thousandth time you looked your soulmate in the eye their aura would glow bright colors for you.
For the socially anxious child stepping into a room of screaming kids and flying toys, looking anyone in the eye once seemed like a monumental challenge. So with no thoughts of the old stories, Virgil glanced around the room and found the other quietest kid, and planted himself firmly just outside an acceptable personal space bubble.
Logan looked up at the newcomer and for the briefest moment, their eyes met. He nodded once at Virgil and once at the blocks he was sorting by color, size, and shape before continuing with his task.
Virgil quickly found the darkest color blocks he could and began to build a small wall, careful to not mess with any of the other piles. They played quietly like that most of the day.
When Virgil’s mama came to pick him up from daycare, he waved goodbye and their new friendship was firmly established.
Logan and Virgil saw each other every day at daycare, slowly learning each other's names and favorite games and snacks and bugs and music and books and stories.
"You've heard about soulmates, right, Lo?"
"I don't believe soulmates exist. Scientifically, the odds of meeting your soulmate are trillions to one."
"Trillions sounds like a big number," Virgil muttered, biting a cheese stick in half.
"It is a big number. And even if you met them, it would take years to look them in the eye ten thousand times. My dad says nobody looks at anybody anymore 'cause of technology," Logan sounded so perfectly condescending that Virgil had to giggle but it came out as a snort first that made Logan giggle.
"Listen, sweetie. I know school seems scary. Mom and I both know Mx. Campbell very well and they're not going to let scary things happen, okay? They'll watch out for you, little Stormcloud."
***
"Mom, my stomach hurts. Do I hafta go to kindagarten?" Virgil moaned from the back seat. His mom shared a look with his mama who turned around.
Virgil nodded and tried to swallow down the nervousness that was twisting his stomach in knots. When Mom led him to his classroom, he scanned the other students and lit up seeing a familiar face.
"Logan!" Virgil ran and claimed the desk next to his friend and knew Kindergarten would be alright.
Anyone who didn't know them before high school would have assumed the straight-A's nerd and bitterly sarcastic emo were unlikely friends. Too many people assumed they were dating for Virgil’s comfort, but the rumors never drove a wedge between them. After classes and weekends were always spent together.
***
Logan was one of only a few constants in Virgil's life. They knew each other’s quiet ways. They always saved seats for each other and spent recesses testing Logan’s theories or people watching from the swings. By middle school, Logan was one of a very select few that Virgil still trusted to look him in the eyes and tell him the truth. Virgil found he often needed that truth. Logan was an anchor for him when everything around them and including them was changing.
Instead of Homecoming, Logan took Virgil stargazing, each bundled up against the cool autumn night. After a while, Logan met Virgil’s eyes and confessed he actually was gay. Virgil nodded because he was too. They didn't kiss, they just turned back to the stars.
The day before Thanksgiving, the shop was dead inside and all Virgil wanted was for the clock to hit closing time so he could go home. He sighed heavily when the front door chimed, looking up from his phone and into a familiar pair of eyes.
***
Logan went out of state to study chemical engineering at his dream university while Virgil found a job at the local record store. Every Thursday they video chatted to talk about Virgil’s on again off again punk of a boyfriend and shitty customers, Logan’s classes and a rather flirty English major he was trying to ignore. Virgil felt hollowed with Logan so far away, but the last thing he wanted was to do was make Logan feel guilty for pursuing the life he wanted.
"Logan? You're home!" Virgil grinned with excitement and almost missed the confusion radiating from Logan’s face.
"Virgil… I think you might be my soulmate!" Logan sounded astonished, staring at him with wide-eyed wonder and Virgil couldn’t help but grin.
"I thought you didn't believe in soulmates," Virgil teased as he stepped around the counter to hug his friend, but as he did, he noticed it too.
A steady blue aura glowing around Logan, perhaps difficult to see in the low light of the shop, "oh my god… I think you're right…"
Logan wrapped Virgil in a tight hug and wouldn't let him go, even when the front door chimed again.
"Shit, did we break up again or are you cheating on me, Vi?" Remus shuffled into the store, not quite sure what to make of the pair.
"Remus! This is Logan, my best friend since forever, and.. apparently my soulmate," Virgil pulled back from the hug with a grin to introduce the two.
"Oh… soulmate? Well.. um, what does that mean for us? I'm cool with threesomes if you two are," Remus smiled a cocky smile.
"Uh… could we talk about it after work? Logan, you should come over for dinner! We can catch up and figure this out."
"Actually, the reason I'm in town," Logan gulped, "I don't think I can do dinner, I'm supposed to be staying with Roman."
"Wait, you're the nerd he's been pining for all semester?" Remus interrupted and ran back outside, pulling an aggravated man from his car and into the shop, "Virgie, your soulmate found my brother!"
"Get off me! By Odin it's bad enough- wait did you say soulmate? I thought those were a myth," Roman stared at his crush and brother's boyfriend.
"I believe we'll all figure this out together," Logan smiled at his best friend and Virgil grinned right back. Ten thousand and one.
HSMTMTS 2x9: so dreaded, so exciting, 'Sword!' (yeah, I went there, I've been thinking about this scene - you know the one - since yesterday for some reason)
After two computer malfunctions and a very tough, very sleepless night, here I am with a third attempt to write this post. The universe is against me today. Is Mercury in retrograde or something? Ugh, I just want to get this over with already. And I haven't even managed to see half the episode yet. You better like this cursed post because it's taken me two hours at this point, and will probably take another to finish - and that is if nothing goes wrong this time. Please bear with me. This is my reaction to HSMTMTS 2x9, take 3. Let's hope and pray it's the last one.
I'm normally [unpopular opinion alert] a very spoiler-positive person (it's the combination of anxiety and ADHD and a bunch of other stuff, I suppose), but for this one I've been refraining from looking at the tag all morning, so by now I'm simply bursting with impatience. But before we dive in, I need to get some stuff off my chest.
Some pre-watch thoughts and feelings (let's see how well they will have aged by the end of the episode):
Seriously, what is with whoever writes this show? I know it's impossible, but I feel like they've been toying with my emotions specifically all season. Like:
Ah, so you were a Rini shipper last season? Great, now we'll make them obnoxious and borderline toxic to the point where you actually want them to break up, but then their old chemistry will be back just for the breakup scene so that you can cry your eyes out over the one couple you couldn't stand - even though you can't seem to relate to a single song from Sour, we'll make you feel like you do for a hot second. At least it will remind you that you loved Ricky.
So you say Redlyn own your heart and soul? Great, we'll make you dread something going wrong with them for a week straight, and mess up your sleep schedule beyond repair over it. You're welcome!
We heard you said Rodfini give you life? Perfect, how about a big Seblos fight? And would you like a side of questioning your choice to stan Carlos with that? Because what is life without a little anxiety, a bit of doubt of your ability to read people, and a pinch of existential dread, right?
Ah, so you claimed not to ship Portwell romantically, is that right? Brilliant, we'll make you ship them and then we'll use that to torture you, too.
You've been excited about ABF and Asher Angel guest-starring ever since they were announced? Magnificent! We'll make you hate ABF's character to the point where you can't even look at him, and we'll make you call him names you thought yourself incapable of uttering. And as for Asher, you'll be left waiting for him until the last third of the season, and then you'll dread the possibility of hating his character, too. Do you love us yet?
Oof! Right then, I've got that out of my system. Time to dive in.
Miss Jenn playing around with the backgrounds is, like, 90% of the people who had online school this year, and honestly, I love that for her.
Wait, why is Nini first on this call? Are they going through with the Rose thing? Cos like, the song is nice and all (and, might I add, much more to my taste than nearly all of Sour, don't @ me), but if they use it, it will get them disqualified. They’ve been told that! Gosh, please let me be wrong about this.
We get it, Carlito, rich and fancy and over-the-top is kind of your thing, but have you stopped for a second to think about how others will feel about this? Especially Seb, whom you claim to care about. Seriously, though, I love Carlos and would not hesitate to die for him, but I’m getting the feeling that, unlike my other favourite (you know the one), he wouldn’t do the same for me. Oh well, he’ll figure it out. He’s just a kid. Give him time.
Wait, Milky White? Is that an Into the Woods reference I smell? Cool! If I had a cow, I’d totally name her Milky White (or Gertrude, but don’t ask me why). I just hope they don’t have to, like, take her to the market and exchange her for magic beans, if you catch my drift.
Ahhhhh, Caswell cousins content! We love to see it!
‘You guys are watching, like, old old movies’ WTH, Nini (or is it Nina)? Scary Movie is literally younger than me. But what do you know about it, you 21st-century baby! Ugh, I don’t know why I’m being so hostile today... must be the lack of sleep. Hope it doesn’t influence my reactions to the episode so dramatically as to make me forget how much I love this series. Because I do.
Yay! Big Red is here! I can finally smile. And did Ash just say they’re soulmates? Because yes they are! Ahhh my heart is going to explode.
‘Nini, have you heard from [Ricky]?’ Yikes, awkward... but of course, Big Red can be counted on to save the day here, too.
Ok, so that was a cool cold open. Time for some nice in-person scenes, though. I did not spend all of three semesters doing online school just to have the characters of my favourite series do the same.
Wow, Gina is really embracing that French accent thing! And I really don’t want to think about, erm, ‘Napoleon over here’ right now, but I really think the fact that she’s doing it better than him will be another piece of evidence towards my theory of fake-French!Antoine... ugh, I said his name. Oh well. Back to Gina. Too bad the French thing didn’t work out for her.
Ahhhh, Portwell with Ash in the background! And Ash is going to paint EJ’s nails! I feel like he’s going to end up loving that, despite what he says right now. But seriously, I just love how comfortable these two are with each other. Can you blame me now for shipping them as friends? Well, I mean, it’s obvious they will be more than friends, and somehow, despite the amatonormativity of it all, I’m here for it.
Wait, was that Asher? That was Asher, I’m 100% sure of it. And Gina said ‘a sign’ and then looked at him, even from the back... what am I supposed to think and feel here? I’m confused. Moving on.
Ahh, poor Ricky being a burrito... good thing that breakup scene last time reminded me that I love him, because the entirety of the season before that was very good at making me forget that.
Wait, did she say ‘the Bean’? As in, that Bean? The infamous Bean? LOL.
‘So the only time you two talk to each other is to gossip about me’ Boy, did I feel that. I once got my hands on my dad’s mobile and I... kind of went through his texts with mum. Yep, all about me and my brother. At this point I feel like they’re only together because of us. But this is getting too personal. I’m here about the episode, not to rant about my family. Moving on.
Yikes, looks like Nini’s got writer’s block all over again. Am I supposed to feel sorry for her? Because I kind of don’t. I mean, no hate towards her, none at all, but that entire scene just felt awkward and unnecessary. And not just because it’s her first time going live. That I can understand. What I don’t understand is why the writers can’t seem to do anything creative and interesting with Nini. Olivia is being wasted there. Idk, that’s just how I feel. Again, no hate.
Ahhhhh it’s Asher! And well, he’s not Jonah, but I kind of really like him as Jack. I wonder if that will last.
So is it just me, or is anyone else not quite sure how to feel about Ricky’s mum? I mean, their interactions seem kind of awkward and strained, but that’s how it’s supposed to be given their recent history, and yet something just doesn’t sit quite right with me.
‘You there, Muse? It’s me, Nini!’ Ah, so it’s Nini again? I didn’t get the memo. Gosh, this episode is kind of really underwhelming. The most exciting thing so far (but not nearly as exciting in practice as it was in theory) – Asher and Sofia’s on-screen reunion. The second most exciting thing? The thought of Ash painting EJ’s nails. Everything else? Kind of ‘whatever’. Is this what I tossed and turned about all night? Totally not worth it. This episode better get, like, 300% better right this instant. It’s just not worth all the frustration and excitement and dread so far.
Looks like my prayers from just now have been heard! That improv scene was hilarious! Guess it was lucky that Miss Jenn had them do improv before this moment. But I need to know more of Jack’s backstory now.
Ok, so that was awkward! So Kourtney is talking to Howie again, I guess. And I guess I know now what Carlos did that was all public and no subtle. Still, what’s wrong with posting photos from your holiday? Guess I don’t exactly know yet what Carlos did to piss the others off so much.
Great, now I’m tempted to google butterfly faces. Good thing I’m not eating anymore. *** Ughhhhh this was a mistake! Please don’t ever look a butterfly in the face if you want to stay sane. Don’t be like me.
Ahhh the Duke sweater! ‘Is that your boyfriend’s?’ Well, not quite yet, it’s not... *screams in Portwell*
Oh, now we’re talking! But seriously, Ricky? The ‘my friends think’ card? Why don’t you just say ‘I think’? It’s clearly something you’ve thought about a lot. I feel like I’m going to love this scene or cry over it or both.
Ooh, therapy. It’s not just... basically the entire fandom... who says it now. Please tell me that means Ricky will be going to therapy at some point. Says the girl who is currently firmly refusing to go to therapy in favour of hyperfixating on HSMTMTS and getting back into the good old practice of having imaginary friends... yeah, I’m one to talk.
My, my, my! Seb has really had it now. I mean, it was about time, but... not quite like this. My heart is starting to do some weird stuff, I can feel it. I might need to lie down.
Ok, so as much as I envy North High for getting to see so many shows on BWay – basically living out my dream – stalking East High on Instagram and being shady about them taking a well-deserved break... just goes beyond all limits. I mean, if you’re so into Broadway shows, you should know as well as I do what happened the last time a certain founding father did not take a break. Maybe you’re the ones in need of a break here.
Nini on the call with the Caswell cousins, though... ‘I’m obsessed with both of you’ – first relatable thing she’s said or done all season. And EJ playing with old toys is pure gold.
Oh, so Jack’s dad is a pilot. Makes sense, I guess. I’m kind of intrigued by this guy. Just as long as he doesn’t try to come between Portwell before they’ve had the chance to happen, you know...
Ashlyn might need to stop swooning over Nini’s songwriting or Big Red might get jealous... I mean, I would not have pinned him as the jealous type before 2x7, but ever since then... I guess insecure + dating a girl like Ash = the jealous type. And although that looks good on him, I’d bet anything it doesn’t feel particularly pleasant on his side. So... wait, why am I talking about Big Red? He hasn’t even got anything to do with the scene at hand. But then again, there’s been so little Big Red content in this episode that I seem to be trying to make up for it. Still. Stay focused.
Ooh, so Big Red did edit that video! Is there anything my boy can’t do? Ok, now I feel like he’s even more criminally underappreciated than he was before. But let’s look at the video. I’m curious to see the whole thing because that sneak peek from yesterday simply hasn’t been enough.
That was... really, really cool! I love how they took the ‘when they go low, we go high’ line from last time and run with it. Now if only they were putting as much effort into BATB... North High wouldn’t know what hit them.
Hmmmm... I guess Gina and Jack could be what I originally wanted Portwell to be... really cool friends. Unless it’s one of those ‘airport magic’ things. Oh well. It probably is. Was that all we’re seeing of Asher here? I did not wait 2/3 of the season for this. Though it was nice.
Ooh, Ricky’s solo song... why is there more Rini chemistry in this song than there was in all the season? Not counting the breakup scene, of course. Also, I feel like it’s just as much about him and his mum as it is about Nini. Some say music is the best therapy. I think they might be right. And no, I’m not crying. You are.
The granola bar, though... this episode might have been very underwhelming in the first half, but... it delivered in the Portwell front, and the music was *chef’s kiss*, so I’m willing to let it slide that the advertised Seblos ‘big fight’ was not touched upon nearly enough. Maybe next week...
Ok, now that we’re done watching the episode, let’s see how my feelings from the beginning have aged:
The Rini breakup: apparently, along with reminding me that I love Ricky, it has rendered me unable to look at Nini. What’s up with that? If this is some sort of tactic along the lines of ‘Olivia might be leaving the show so we’re making you hate her character so that you won’t miss her’, it’s not really working. Because I don’t want to hate Nini. Believe me, I don’t.
Redlyn: ok, so there’s nothing wrong with them whatsoever - we even got a ‘soulmates’, which I loved - but first they’re being swept under the rug, and then the antis come at us with that ‘their relationship is underdeveloped’ nonsense. Individually, though, I liked them in this episode (even if there was a significant shortage of Big Red), and Ashlyn collaborating with Nini again was cool, but... what I really wanted to see was her painting EJ’s nails. Did she even get the chance to actually do it? Maybe next week.
Seblos: I’m still failing to understand exactly what Seb thinks Carlos did wrong (please enlighten me if you did catch that, I’m kind of slow), but he (Seb) does have reasons to be mad at him (Carlos)... and at other people, too. Still, if you want to have a fight between two people in a relationship, you could do much better than whatever this episode was. Maybe next week. I notice I’m saying that a lot. Guess I’m putting a lot of hopes on 2x10. I just pray it doesn’t disappoint.
Portwell: boy, am I happy that my frustration on this front did not age well! What I mean is, apparently they’ve decided to bless us, not torture us for once. Even a rather disappointing episode like this one had to have some sort of silver lining. And Portwell is it.
Asher as Jack: well, luckily I didn’t hate him, but... it’s kind of the opposite problem. I loved him and now they’re taking him away from me. Guess I just can’t win here. Oh well. At least he didn’t have the screen time to get in between Portwell...
All in all: 2x10, my hopes and prayers are with you!
Exchange Student
Hinata x gn!American Reader
warnings: slight language, fluff
IMPORTANT:
dialogue in “” is Japanese. ‘’ is English.
Tumblr media
Being an exchange student was fun. So was having one.
I never thought it would be until my mother announced that we were going to be hosting a Japanese boy. That also meant that I’d be living in Japan with him and his family for a long period of time as well.
“Shoyo!” I shouted, grinning widely.
“Y/n!” He shouted back, running up to me, arms open. We crashed into each other, hugging one another tightly.
“You’re actually here!” He said, pulling away.
“Yes! It feels like it’s been so long!” I laugh.
“Too long!” He nods, holding my hands in his excitedly.
He lived with me and my family in America for the fall semester, and he went back home for Christmas, so I already knew him pretty well. I stayed in America for Christmas, but now, it was January 2nd and time for me to start my time in Japan.
“My family is so excited to see you again. Come on, let’s go eat dinner!”
“We’re so glad you’re here, Y/n.” His mother said, hugging me.
“I’m so glad to be here!” I said. “We loved having Shoyo, all of my friends told me to tell him to come back whenever he can. I think they like him more than they like me!” I joke. She laughs while Shoyo blushes, waving his hands in front of his face.
‘We ride bikes to school, you can use my mom’s until we can go to the store to get you one.’ Shoyo said. We shared a bedroom, but I didn’t mind. We did for a while back home, and it was normal feeling.
‘Uniforms are so weird to me.’ I muttered, pulling up my socks.
‘Well I thought that picking a new outfit every day was weird. You’ll get used to it though, I promise.’ He said with a smile. He spoke to me in English frequently, which I was grateful for. He mentioned how overwhelming the language and culture of America was, so I spoke in Japanese with him a lot just to make things easier, and he did that with me too. It made me feel cared for. Well, I was being cared for.
I laughed, nodding. ‘That makes sense.’
We rode our bikes over the rolling hills as my eyes wandered the scenery. It was beautiful here.
Once we got to school, we locked our bikes on the rack and walked in. ‘Welcome to Karasuno, Y/n.’ He said with a grin, waving his arm as if presenting the building to me.
‘Thank you!’ I laughed. ‘I’m excited to see what it’s like.’
“SHOYOOOOO!” A voice shouted, making me jump. I turned my head to see a guy about Shoyo’s height sprinting towards us. “How was your holidays, buddy?” The guy asked. His eyes locked on me, furrowing his eyebrows and tilting his head. “Who’s this?”
“This is Y/n. They’re the exchange student.” He said, nodding at me, telling me to introduce myself.
“Y/n L/n. Nice to meet you.” I smiled at the boy.
“Nishinoya. It’s nice to meet you too!” He smiled back. “You’re American?”
“Yeah.”
“That’s awesome!” He claps. “You’ve got to teach me some slang and stuff!”
“I will.” I said, laughing.
Later that day, after school ended, it was time for volleyball.
‘Are you sure you want to stay for this?’ Shoyo asked me. ‘I don’t want you to be bored.’
‘Oh it’s okay, you waited through my dance rehearsals, didn’t you? Plus, I’d love to see you play volleyball with your actual team, not me in the backyard.’ I said with a smile, nudging him.
He grinned. ‘Okay! I’m gonna go get changed, you wait here.’ He said, putting his hands on my shoulders before he dashed off. I nodded and stood outside the gym, tapping my foot and scrolling on my phone.
“Um, are you lost?” A voice asked. I looked up to meet brown eyes. I shook my head with a smile. “Oh, okay.” He stood, looking around. “Uh, can I ask why you’re here?”
“I’m waiting on someone.” I said. “He should be back soon-“
“Who’s this?” Another person asked, walking up, a third guy next to him.
Oh gosh. Three tall volleyball players. Intimidating. I blinked up at them.
“Figuring that part out.” The first guy said.
“She looks frightened..” The third one said, worry in his voice.
‘My name is Y/n.’ I said. Wait, no, wrong language. “Y/n, my name is Y/n.”
“Oh, nice to meet you.” The first one said. “I’m Daichi. That’s Sugawara and that’s Asahi.”
I nodded as he pointed to the second and third guys. “Nice to meet you guys.”
“Who are you waiting on?” Daichi asked.
“Shoyo.” I looked behind them to see if it was Shoyo himself walking up, but no, it was a tall blonde next to a short green haired guy. “Hinata. Shoyo Hinata. I think he’s changing. He said to wait here.”
“Oh, why don’t you come on in?” Sugawara said, linking his arm with mine, leading me into the gym. It was a nice gym, much nicer than the gyms back home.
“Y/n! Hi!” Nishinoya said, waving at me. I waved back.
“You know them?” Asahi asked.
“Met them earlier!” He explained, continuing his stretching.
“Y/n! There you are!” Shoyo’s voice rang in my ears. I turned my head, face unintentionally breaking out into a smile. ‘I see you’ve met most of the team.’ He said, jogging up to me.
‘Yeah, they’re all really nice to me.’
‘That’s good!’ He grinned.
“It’s so weird hearing him speak in English.” A guy with buzzed hair said, walking up to join the group that somewhat gathered around me.
“Agreed.” The tall blonde said.
“I speak in English around them to bring them familiarity.” Shoyo said. “They’re fluent though.”
“Yeah, it gets tiring being immersed in a totally new culture.” I explained, and they nodded.
“Can you teach me some cool English words?” The green haired guy asked. “I’m Yamaguchi by the way.”
“Nice to meet you! Of course, I’d love to!” I said with a grin.
“Hi guys!” I said, walking in the little ramen restaurant.
“Y/n!” The boys chorused my name. Yachi grinned and waved me over to sit in between her and Daichi, across from Shoyo.
“I’m so proud of all of you!” I said, grinning. They just defeated Shiratorizawa. It was incredible. I wasn’t able to physically be there because I had to fly back to the states for a family emergency. I was on the phone with Shoyo on their entire bus ride there, calming his nerves. Yachi sent me live updates, which I was thankful for. I had flown back that day and arrived back in Japan right as their practice was ending, so we all agreed to meet for dinner.
“Thank you, Y/n! We missed you!” Suga said.
“We did! The team was freaking out without their emotional support American.” Daichi said with a chuckle.
“I missed you all so much!” I grinned.
The conversation shifts to the game, and just to random little side conversations. A while into the dinner, I feel an elbow in my side. I turn my head to see Daichi, leaning closer to whisper something to me “Shoyo missed you a lot. I know he really cares about you, I think he loves you.”
My eyes went wide, blinking at the boy next to me. “Really?” My heart sped up.
He nodded. “Trust me.”
I trusted him.
That sounded bad. I trusted him, and he was telling the truth.
A couple nights later, I was sitting on the sidelines, watching the boys practice. Shoyo was practicing a certain move with Kageyama, drilling it over and over, trying to get the perfect outcome. I looked up and watched them in awe. I was always so impressed with Kageyama’s skill and Shoyo’s drive.
Once they finally got it, Shoyo turned his head to see if I was watching. When he saw that I was, his grin grew even wider. ‘Did you see that?!’ He exclaimed.
‘Yes!’ I clapped and cheered. He laughed and Kageyama blushed at the attention, looking away and scratching his neck.
About 20 minutes later, we had said good night to Kageyama and were walking to get our bikes.
‘Hey, Shoyo, can we talk about something?’ I asked, looking up at the dark sky.
‘Yeah, of course.’ He said, expression turning serious. ‘Is everything all right?’
‘Yeah, don’t worry. I just, wanted to tell you something.’
‘Okay, what’s up?’ We stopped walking.
‘I- well, I,’ I look at his face, and his eyes search mine. ‘I’m in love with you, Shoyo Hinata.’
He blinked at me.
“I love you.”
He chuckled, cheeks pink. ‘I love you too, Y/n.’
‘You do?’
‘Duh, of course.’ He said with a grin, pulling me into a hug. “A whole lot, actually.”
There wasn’t a dry eye in sight. Including mine.
“Do you have to go home?” Noya asked, a frown etched into his face.
I nod sadly. “I can’t stay here forever. But I will come back whenever I can.”
“Don’t forget to text us! And snap us! And send us tiktoks!” Suga said, hugging me.
“I wouldn’t dream of it.” I said, hugging back.
‘Have a safe flight!’ Yamaguchi said in English, making me smile.
‘Thank you, I will.’ I said back, hugging him next. I hugged each member of the team, promising the same promise to each of them, that I’d keep in contact and not forget them. Like I could forget them. I couldn’t forget them if I tried.
After more farewells, I finally see the red haired boy wading through the crowd of people. “Y/n.” He said, walking up to me.
He helped me pack, which hurt more than I ever though it would.
The whole team moves away to give us a moment, which I’m grateful for. They even forced themselves not to watch us/eavesdrop.
‘I’m gonna miss you so fucking much, Shoyo.’ I said, tears starting up again.
‘I’m gonna miss you too, Y/n.’ He said, wiping his own tears away.
‘I’ll call you every day, I’ll send letters and my hoodies and we’ll visit each other when we can,’ He rambled, holding onto my hands tightly.
“We’ll work, Shoyo.” I said. “I love you too much to lose you.” I look down at my watch, frowning. ’It’s time, I’ve got to leave now.’
He nodded, hugging me tight. He held my face in his hands, slowly moving to kiss me. His soft lips meet mine, passionately kissing me for the last time for a while. I gently placed my arms over his shoulders, pushing myself closer, trying to get one final memory of his feel, taste, smell.
The two of you knew his team would poke fun at the two of you later, but you didn’t care. His lips moving against yours was all that mattered.
I pulled away, taking a breath and resting my forehead on his.
“I love you.” He looked into my eyes. ‘I love you.’
“I love you too, Shoyo.” I grabbed my suitcase handle and adjusted my backpack’s weight on my shoulders.
I started walking away, and after I got to the doors of the airport, I turned to wave.
There stood the boy I grew to love, and the boys I loved in a different way, waving back.
It was about a year until I was able to fly back to Japan. 11 months, technically.
Nobody was there to pick me up from the airport, but it was okay, I knew my way around. I went to the Hinata household to drop off my bags, hugging his mother and sister before going to the Karasuno gym. Although it was break for me, they still had school. It would be weird not seeing the third years, but I was looking forward to meeting the new first years.
I walked up, catching the eye of Coah Ukai. I waved at him and he nodded. “Hinata!” He yelled like he was in trouble.
“Yes!” The familiar voice said. I saw him jog up to Ukai, putting his hands on his knees. Ukai waved his hand and I gingerly stepped in the gym, biting my lip.
Shoyo tilted his head and looked at the door, noticing movement. His brown eyes met mine, going wide. He stood up straight, jaw dropping. He grew a bit.
“Y/n?” He asked. He looked at Ukai ask if asking: Are you seeing this too?
“Shoyo!” I smiled, reaching out to him with grabby hands. He sprinted, full on sprinted towards me, crashing into me like he did at the airport after Christmas break.
‘Holy shit Y/n, you’re here! You’re here you’re here you’re here!” He picked me up, spinning me around. He laughed with joy, eyes sparking.
New faces, presumably first years, stared at us, confusion painted on their faces.
“Y/n! You’re back!” Yamaguchi called, waving.
“Yyyyyy/nnnnnnn!” Noya screamed, waving.
“She was an exchange student last year.” Kageyama explained to a first year holding a ball. “Also Hinata’s girlfriend.”
“Hinata has a girlfriend?” The boy asked.
“Yeah. They did long distance surprisingly well.” Yams said, smiling at the couple.
“I never would’ve pegged him to be the one to have a serious relationship.” The boy said.
“All right, enough. Go home, copper top. Take tomorrow off.” Ukai said, waving his arm in dismissal. “The rest of you, keep practicing!”
“Thanks, coach!” I called to him, grabbing Shoyo’s hand and pulling him out of the gym. Once we’re outside, the warm sun hits our faces.
“Finally.” I said, ‘Finally I can do this again.’ I kissed him gently, his lips feeling as familiar as they did almost a year ago.
He pulled back to look at me. He held my shoulders and looked, staring at my shoes, pants, arms, then face. ‘You’re here. My favorite person is here. With me. Now. In person. Finally.’ He pulled me in for another kiss, more intense than the last one. “I love you.” He sighed, smiling. ‘I love you.’
Thank the heavens for the exchange student program.
