I have an ISWM AU wherein the Captain gets trapped in the world with Mack while trying to fix the universe. While there she keeps a video diary(in the form of holographic recordings) that is addressed to Mark. In it, they talk about their day, thoughts about their situation, what does and doesn’t work, how much they miss him, what the new crew is like, venting and lamenting on doing it all without him, and eventually their growing feelings for Mack.

Weeelllll, Mack happens to accidentally catch the captain making an entry and decides to keep listening to them in secret. Through the logs he learns about her best friend Mark that she mentions off and on, what’s happened(and is still happening) to the universe, and about the captain too.

Since the timeline keeps continuing on in his universe, Mack starts to slowly warm up to Ci while she’s trying to save the universe, fight off personal doubts, and keep everyone safe as possible all the while.

The story goes through most of the events of ISWM but with until the very end. Eventually, they get to the part wherein the captain stops Mark and saves the universe but somehow ends up in Mack’s permanently? Haven’t figured out how to bs my way through that plot point yet sdkkgdbs

Like they're not the most cheerful person but they're always giving him little snacks or giving him compliments and all that. So ghost think they're kind and like that all the time with everyone, but after one (or many) convos with 141 he realizes that no, they aren't very nice with people and it's just him.......... Anyway I hope this isn't too much, I wish you a good day/night!!!

"LT, please control them," Soap says pointing toward you, you raise your hands in defence

"I didn't do anything"

"You're joking, you almost shot my head off"

"You were in the way"

"Oh really" Soap crosses towards you and Ghost steps between, arm extended in front of you keeping you from clawing at Soap, giving him a glare. Soap huffs a breath and walks away shaking his head, Ghost turns to you, head tilted in question and you smile back at him.

"How was your day?" You ask

"Did you try to kill him"

"If I was trying to he'd be dead"

He quirks his head, "That's true"

"Oh here," You say reaching into your pocket, pulling out a small pack of biscuits. "Found these earlier, remembered you loved them so"

He grabs the package from your hands eyeing them over before the two of you walk off.

A few hours later Ghost hears yelling from the mess, poking his head around the door to see you almost face to face with Soap, finger pointed at his chest, your focus shifting when you see him, anger suddenly dissipating.

"What the fuck's going on"

"Your little pet is saying the mission failure is my fault"

"Yeah, and it fucking is Johnny, you're in charge of demolitions, who else do I blame when the door doesn't blow open"

"Alright both of you stop," Ghost says, "Johnny go cool off"

"Me? They're the one that's always walking around with a sour face"

You huff at him.

"Johnny, go"

You smirk as he walks away, face dropping as Ghost grabs your arm dragging you into the hallway.

"Why is he so mad at you?"

"I don't know, Scottish temper" You smirk

He stares at you trying to read your face, he'd never seen this side of you, truth be told he kinda loved it, but usually you were skipping around your shared flat, dancing to music or nuzzling into him as you cuddled. You were always so kind and soft towards him, making sure he ate when he was home, gently cleaning his cuts, dropping him off books you thought he'd like.

The two of you go your own way after your outburst and Ghost decided to investigate. Knocking on Price's door,

"Oi Captain"

"Whaddu need son"

"Just a question, Phantom, are they ever, I dunno, mean to you?"

"Are you joking, why do you think that's their codename, they scare the shit out of everyone"

"You're joking"

"I wish, I steer clear of them when I can, almost got my head chewed off when I took them off a mission"

"Huh, thanks sir," Simon says as he leaves the room, rubbing the back of his neck before his eyes land on Gaz,

"Hey mate"

"Lieutenant"

"Phantom, thoughts?"

Gaz looks around the halls like you'd be waiting around the corner to strangle him, "Great fighter"

"I mean their personality"

Gaz is hesitant, scared you'd somehow hear him talking about you, "Saw them almost break a rookie's shoulder for talking back, never bugged them after that"

"So you're scared of them too"

Gaz simply nods.

Ghost continues asking people around the base about you, most of them simply tried to stay out of your way others had horror stories and the rest just believed that you hated them. When he left base to go home he was utterly confused, your opposing actions a mystery to him, his confusion increasing when he walked in and saw you moving around the flat half-naked, hips swaying to some old song.

A large smile plastered on your face when you saw him, practically leaping into his arms to welcome him home, planting soft kisses over his face once he removed his mask.

"Did you want a tea?"

He shakes his head and you move from him, continuing whatever task you were up to, he scans the flat, brightly coloured decor on the shelves, blankets all over the place, you had made it so cozy.

"People on base are terrified of you"

His statement makes you stop in your tracks, "What are you talking about"

"Well apparently you've threatened quite a few people"

"Huh" You simply shrug your shoulders and Ghost smiles

"Why are you so nice to me and so mean to them"

"I'm mean?"

"They certainly think so"

You move towards him wrapping your arms around his neck, standing on your toes to kiss him, "Maybe I only like you"

"Mm I like the sound of that," He says kissing you back, "But you can't yell at rookies, that's my job"

"Fine, you can be the scary one"

"Very generous of you"

"I can be generous"

"How generous" His eyebrow quirks as he lifts your legs to wrap around him,

"Very"

He carries you, leading you to the bedroom and shutting the door with his leg as a fit of giggles overtake you.

His brows furrow.

When you mimic his displeased demeanour, he is almost sure that you are making fun of him.

Eyes narrowed, he stares at you for a while before sighing and bursting out into laughter, "You sure come up with the most random activities to have fun. It's cute."

Sure enough, you repeat his words.

"Hmmm? Why don't you follow me to my room and I will tell you about the latest activity I thought of? We can both take part in it and it won't be 'cute'," he smiles meaningfully.

ASMODEUS

"Awwww, you're such a cutie, trying to mimic my words!" he says. After a moment of pondering, he smiles seductively and coos, "I love love looove you, Asmo chan ♡.You are the brightest star on any stage! I swoon over your perfection, my lovely darling. Why don't you reserve all your hugs and kisses for me only? I want you all to myself! Oh, you are such a tease! Why do you leave me even for a moment? Please take me in your arms, right now and spoil me, my sweetheart!"

You are left speechless at the words he came up with on the spot. Since you didn't memoriese the words, you tried to satisfy him in your own way.

"Asmo, you know how I love you. You steal my attention when you walk into a room~"

He squeals, "Kyaaaa♡~ You did almost as good as the original! I knew you wouldn't disappoint me."

SOLOMON

He laughs at your antics and is amused to find you mimicking that sound too. When he narrows his eyes, you know that the cogwheels in his head are turning with some idea of its own.

"I am glad that I have a good teacher," he says coyly, waiting for you to reply. The smirk on his face makes you falter. You realise that irrespective of your reply, he will have his fun so you shrug and give up.

LUKE

When you stay silent, his smile widens. "Seems like your teacher taught you well. You know when to quit. Hahaha."

He blushes when he notices, his initial surprise fading away. Normally he would consider it rude but since it's you, he knows you're not making fun of him. So he's fine with it.

"H-Hey! Why are you repeating my words?"

"And the cute chihuahua says, 'H-Hey! Why are you repeating my words?'." you tease.

"I am NOT a chihuahua!" he pouts with hands formed in fists.

"I am NOT a chihuahua!" you bellow in an exaggerated manner and sulk.

Luke looks upset so you drop the act.

He doesn't really react so you are left wondering if he even realised what you are doing.

"Barbatos, did you notice that I repeated the exact words you said? And copied your mannerisms too?"

"Why, yes, of course I did." he answers with soft laughter escaping his lips. " If I may take the liberty, allow me to say that I quite enjoyed it. And now, if you will quench my curiosity, why did you do so?"

His curious eyes fixed on you, taking you quite by surprise. "Eh... I was just having fun."

"Ah, I see. If it makes you happy, I will like to see you continue your endeavour."

A blush dusts his cheeks as he continues, "If I may be so bold, I will be really happy to know that I am the only one you mimic."

DIAVOLO

He finds the whole experience highly enjoyable.

"Oh, is this a human world game where you mimic the other's words? Hahaha I think this is an innovative way to bring people together."

The twinkle in his eyes makes you answer his question rather than continuing your prank. "Yes, it's really fun."

"Ohhhh? Is it my turn to repeat your words now?" he muses. Mirroring your actions, his voice echos, "Yes, it's fun."

You laugh at his seriousness so he joins you - half for the game, half because he wants to share the moment with you.

When Barbatos finds you two like that, he quickly exits. The sacred moment need not a third participant.

MEPHISTOPHELES

"I don't have time for this," he says when you stare at him for a while without speaking. "If you have something to say, say it."

He frowns when you repeat his words.

"Has the cold and lack of sun gotten to your head? You were the one who came to me."

He looks irritated when you mimic him again.

"I am a demon. I am used to the cold and lack of sun.... Ah I see. I read about a game like this in the human world. Why don't you find another victim, like Lucifer? I would love to know how he reacted."

The idea seems to please him so much that he starts daydreaming on the spot.

• The moon in your moon persona chart might also be how you act/are by nature when comfortable with people! E.g. natal Aquarius moons with Cancer moon in their moon pc may act very sweet & thoughtful around those closest to them.

• The rising in your moon persona chart is how you might come across emotionally. E.g. Libra rising in your moon persona chart might make you hold back sometimes even if somebody opposes your ideas, to keep things cordial.

Bo, I have not known peace since you posted that one little snippet about Mental Patient!Johnny not being believed when he says that Nurse!Ghost keeps visiting him at night. Because I can’t help but imagine both of them as nurses and Reader as the patient. They treat you so good, giving you better food and warmer blankets then the others. They even take you outside in the garden. It’s not too much to ask for you to help them out, is it? :( they come into your room, sandwiching you between them. Johnny’s stroking your hair and Ghost’s hands are on your hips. At first they say you only have to use your hands if you want to. But using your hands turns to them wanting to hump your ass or fuck thighs ands tits which turns to a “just the tip, love. Promise. It’ll feel good for you too.” Which turns to them having to shove your face into a pillow as they fuck you so hard your crappy bed turns wobbly from here on out. And they tell you they deserved that after all they do for you. That they take such good care of you. One day they’ll take even better care of you, when you’re home with them. - 🕸

i forgot about that!!! it was based on a horror/thriller i watched once about this woman who gets checked into a mental hospital because she's convinced her ex-boyfriend is stalking her and it's derailing her entire life. but once she's checked in, she becomes convinced that one of the orderlies is her stalker. it had a pretty scary ending, but for the life of me i can't remember what it was called :( someone please let me know if it sounds familiar i want to watch it again lol

this is what happens in the movie (i think?) but i looove the idea of soap slipping reader an extra pill every night, so she's nice and still when they visit her every night. mixes together an extra element of psychological horror - are the nurse and guard actually sneaking into your room every night, or are you hallucinating/having sleep paralysis?

im partial to security guard ghost because i just KNOW that man is glued to you and you only on those cameras. there could be a murder happening somewhere else, and he doesn't even notice because he's watching you eat lunch. deranged man

I'd looove to hear a little about your worldbuilding process if you don't mind sharing. How do you go about it? I know you have shared in a few posts already but just wanna know moree. Also where did it all begin? What inspired you? (eating it all uppp!!!)

hi!! I know I wrote a big long thing like last year or the year before about the process to making a setting but I cannot be arsed to find it rn so here's some disconnected thoughts

Overall I don't really make Headworlds or Worldbuilding Projects the way a lot of people do (which is why u keep hearing me say 'setting' over and over) because mainly what I make are stories in the order of characters -> plot -> world. those three things have to serve one another in that order of importance, so the world itself bends to serve the narrative. for example, ultimately idgaf where the holy beasts' skeletons come from, that is not important because the beasts are basically just a big plot device to serve the story. i can make some post-hoc justifications for their existence (and i did) but at the end of the day it will not and does not matter how they work or where they come from. the world is full of mysteries that will never be solved because the characters are not in a position to solve them. aside from a single border conflict, the world outside the mezian empire is nebulous and unimportant.

I don't enjoy working in a world -> narrative order because what I want to produce isn't just a series of info posts or artpieces about a setting, but a closed and self-contained story which is the justification for the entire world's existence. Headworlds that are all world and no character don't interest me.

So basically in the process of worldbuilding, I have to serve the story. A while back I made a post about continental history around Inver, all these wars and occupations and schisms and so on. All of those exist solely to provide a particular political climate, justification for Aquitan's theocratic structure, and the spread of the southern church north into Inver. I already had the idea of this church, that it would be integral to the country as a main political faction, so now I have to figure out how it got there and the political ramifications of that. It's all worldbuilding for sure, but it's a support structure underneath the story about how that church eventually changes world history, because i wanted to write a story about a church lol.

I guess if I wanted to explain The Process for a world -> characters setting i'd just be giving you How To Write A Story 101 lol. But basically: I think of a concept which interests me (big mechs yay). Then I think of a conflict that might arise (where does the fuel come from? who controls that supply? what might that do to the concentration of power in this area?). Then I put a character in what I consider to be the most interesting position to observe the effects of this conflict (a knight, an enginesmith, an exile), and honestly the main plot generally writes itself after that. I extrapolate the hook from that.

In terms of characters, I try to avoid calling them 'ocs' because in my mind 'oc' tends to be a very static stand-alone thing. Like I couldn't make a useful ref sheet of my characters because they are all changed by the story. I couldn't say 'he has a carefree personality' because in a few chapters no he fucking won't. in the same way i struggle a LOT to talk about my Siren setting which as close to a specbio 'headworld' as i'm ever gonna get, because I am worldbuilding in vastly different time periods at once in a world which is always changing, i can't make a post about for example a map of Siren because that's just a map from one era, I'd need to make a dozen maps to show how things change, how time affects it all, etc.

Because nothing is ever static and everything is in flux, pretty much the only way I can handle a setting like this is, again, just to focus on a few small stories centered around a cast of characters separated by time (i have... 4 distinct stories in Siren. maybe more). this is actually a frustrating barrier to me sharing any information at all about this place lol i'm the struggler

Where did it all begin? When I was 11 I used to write stories in my copybooks in class. There has never been a time where I was not making stories and where my stories were not the only important thing at all to me, superseding literally everything else. I learned how to draw digitally in 2011 because I wanted to draw my characters.

What inspires me? Everything lol. I actually don't have time to Consume Media much, I struggle watching movies or tv and I mostly hate video games because I would much rather be productive and sitting and watching a screen feels like a waste of my time. but I like reading books because I can take them with me on my phone. I get ideas from all sources but mostly non-media sources, like obviously mythology but also my history with the church and my scientific education. Usually nonfictional sources interest me the most (i was going to write a whole story that was a post-apocalyptic plague plot based on canine transmissible venereal cancer haha and even to this day that's where "the Immortal Hound" title comes from, little easter egg in inver)

There's a scene in One Piece where Koby is talking about his frustration and disappointment with the Marines as an institution, and Helmeppo tells him "Well, you just have to become some big shot and fix it all, right?" and Koby agrees with him, and that's got me thinking about how, in canon, Koby's endgame is pretty clearly going to be exactly that -- he's set up as not only Garp's successor but as the one who will surpass him. Koby's goal is to become so powerful and so influential that he's able to enforce massive reforms on The World Government's Entire Military, which is. No small task! Koby's motives are so selfless that it's easy to overlook that, actually, he's aiming for just as much power and prestige as the other top hitters. This man, like so many others in One Piece, is trying to swallow the sun, and it's been made clear that he's one of the few who has what it takes to actually succeed.

And that has me thinking about people constantly being surprised and confused by Zoro's loyalty to Luffy, because Zoro could be a pirate captain in his own right. People keep expecting him to be gunning for the crown, and we're told that if he did, honestly, he might make it! Zoro has the makings to be Pirate King, or at least to be a top dog, an emperor of the sea. People see his skill and his ambition and they assume, and every time he has to be like "Nah man, you got it wrong, my dreams start and end with that grinning rubber idiot over there. Yes, really."

and all of THAT has me thinking about Koby's Bad Day, and how hilarious it would be if Koby ALSO dealt with that on occasion. Technically he already does have experience as captain of his own crew (although being a captain in the navy isn't really the same kind of autonomy and freedom as a pirate captain, that's not Nothing!) and he certainly has the skills and the strength to get peoples' attention. However, unlike Zoro, Koby is very much Just Hanging Out. Like, Zoro knows he's hot shit, and it doesn't surprise him when other people point it out to him. He understands where the confusion comes from. He just corrects people and moves on. But Koby? If somebody just started assuming that Koby must clearly be the REAL captain, or that obviously Koby must want the Pirate King title for himself, I think Koby would explode. I don't think he'd know how to react. And I think it would be really, really funny.

Anyway I'm just sharing thoughts cause I'm on a reread. Thank you so much for writing this fic btw, easily one of my faves and reading it is always such a blast.

First of all you are SO right, Koby would combust at the idea of being a contender for Pirate King. Where on earth would anyone get that idea?? Well, Koby, you’re a very powerful pirate with potentially the best observation haki in the entire world. People are gonna assume.

But of course Koby still mentally thinks of himself as a Good Boy, hasn’t fully reconciled with the fact that he is objectively and inarguably a pirate, in a world where most pirates are back-stabbing scumbags. He’s a member of Luffy’s crew, he is very proud to call him Captain! But honestly I think he sometimes forgets that they’re pirates, since 90% of the time they’re not doing anything illegal 😂

Combine that with the fact that he chronically underestimates how strong he really is, and that he is Luffy’s most ardent supporter? Yeah the Pirate King comments would BAFFLE him.

Of course you say yes, yes, a thousand times yes! He hugs you so tight you can barely breathe. Connor never thought he'd feel as loved as you make him feel. No one in his life ever gave him the thought or time or anything. You proved him wrong: that he is a loveable person. Now you'll get to spend the rest of your lives together.

Kendall, why isn't babygirl allowed to be this happy all the time he asks you to marry him when you're both in bed after a long night of drinking and partying. When you get home from work she's got a bottle of wine and a little black box waiting for you. She admits maybe that wasn't the best way to go about it, that she'd like a redo. Will you marry her? Honestly I started thinking about it as a joke, but Ive been thinking about them all fucking day now bro its making me go nuts. I looove my lil rarepair. Im gonna use this ask as an excuse to ramble a bit about them…

- Theyre the epitome of femme x butch lesbian love. Kate is very masculine, dresses grungy, baggy clothes, video games, barely showers. Meanwhile Nina is very feminine, loves to dress up, takes care of her appearance, scene kid

- She drags her gross lil girlfriend EVERYWHERE and loves to show her off. Kate hates crowds, hates people, hates cities and public places. But she does it just to make Nina happy

- Nina will make sure Kates eating, drinking water, oh she worries about her wellbeing so much. They do basic hygiene together like brushing their teeth and showering, it makes things easier on Kate since shes been so long without ever caring about any of that stuff

- Nina loves to take care of Kate, and Kate loves to take care of her little ball of sunshine.

- Yknow the “cool stoic x crazy happy girl” trope? Thats them

- Theyre drive around in some beat up pick up truck singing alone to whatever emo pop punk song Nina chooses

- Kate holds Ninas bags when they go shopping

- And Nina walks around at night freely with her guard dog privileges (Kate would bite the head off of anyone who hurts her)

- I just cant imagine Nina happy with some guy. Kate is the perfect balance for her, they both help each other grow in so many ways, they’d both understand and be there for each other

the thing w postcrisis kara that gets me, when i try to think about her and kryptonian recipes and food, is that... she was a teenager. an adolescent. her main interest was art, and then she decided to take up science as well to try and bridge the gaps between new krypton and earth. when new krypton was established, she thought she had time. room to breathe, to grow, to learn.

i don't think she knows very many kryptonian recipes at all. what teenager who isn't particularly interested in cooking, who was living with her family, would? i don't think the idea of getting [new] krypton back and then losing it again would've occurred to her until it was too late.

which isn't to say i think she knows nothing, because i mean, most teenagers i would say probably know at least the basics of the kitchen. but i think there's such a tragedy in the wealth of traditional foods and recipes she will never know. and she will always think about that. she got one birthday on new krypton, to celebrate with her people, her mom, her kryptonian friends. her next birthday would be on earth, orphaned, picking up the pieces all over again. i am certain she spends that day missing kryptonian home cooking more than anything.

all of which is to say: i really love love looove the idea of kara, ma, and kon sitting down to try and figure something out here. kara's bonding with kon after he comes back, because she was wearing his glasses and they're cousins and she wanted to know him and i will die on this hill, and they're just hanging out at the farm and she mentions it being so frustrating that she remembers how all these things taste but she doesn't know how to make them, or how to approximate them with earth ingredients. and kon goes hmmm... oh!!! 💡 ma's a whiz in the kitchen. she might have some ideas!!

so they end up all three of them sitting at the kitchen table. kara describes a dish, kon helps her try to figure out how to put it into english terms if she's stuck trying to describe something she doesn't know a direct translation for, or comes up with examples to compare it to ("do you mean it's light and fluffy and creamy? like gelato?" "kind of, yeah, but not that melty?") until ma goes "oh! that consistency sounds kind of like meringue," and it's just a big ol session of them brainstorming together.

basically what i'm getting at is, inventing those kryptonian-terran fusion recipes is a family bonding experience.

I was wondering if you could share a little about your rendering process? How did you improve it over the years, what did you learn you wish u knew sooner, stuff like that?

Hi! oh wow thank you so much for the kind words!

My rendering process hmmmm.... I will try to sum up the thoughts that come to my mind as I'm writing this, though I might be missing some proper vocabulary

The first thing that surfaced in my brain is exposition within a picture. This is what the picture focuses on - things in the light, or things in the shadow, and how much details each of these two receive rendering wise.

It's basically like taking a photo with a phone - if you click on a bright thing (say, a window), the phone will automatically adjust the exposition and all the other bright things will be visible(lotta detail), but the shadows will become turbo dark (no details). Alternatively, if you click on a dark shadow, all the dark things will become visible (details) but the hypothetical window will become blown out and turbo white (no details). You can basically have one or the other but never both. (or I guess you can who am I to tell anyone how to make art yanno no rules up in this house)

anyway, so for example, this pic^ focuses on the things in the dark, meaning everything in direct light receives no details.

and this pic^ focuses on the light and so all the cast shadows are pitch black.

One other thing that I learned a longass time ago was that edges(and shapes) are arguably the most important part of an object within a picture. Clean edges immediately call for focus, while softer or vague edges allow things to fade in the background and communicate the idea of a thing rather than showing you the thing itself. On a related note note, clean edges also make work in progress appear about 25% more finished.

I guess this all has to do with contrast and contrast can be created in many ways - edges (soft/sharp), colours (eg. red fish in a blue sea), spacing (objects being grouped vs. a single object), the amount of detail per object etc etc etc. and all of these can be controlled to solve specific issues within a picture.

In short, if a thing is important aka the focal point, make it stand out - sharp edges, details, specific colours and a lighting situation that make it pop. And if a thing isn't too important leave it vague, communicate the idea of it rather than focusing on drawing it.

On the note of things being sharp, a thing that I always swore by is, if there are eyes in the picture those eyes better be d-o-n-e. Pristine. People will look at the eyes, eyes communicate 90% of emotion, the eyes are the it girl of the picture forever and always, nobody will look at the wonky foot, they will look at the eyes and judge the quality of the picture. If the eyes are shit the picture is shit. (I'm exaggerating but fr. eyes are a big deal.). They don't have to be turbo rendered or physically mad sharp but they need to be done. Whatever that means, take what you will from my word soup.

One thing that I've become a big fan of over the years is the concept of wear and tear. This has to do with texturing things in pictures and I looooooooooooooooove thinking about ways items are used in order to create bumps and scratches that can be featured.

It always makes things look like they belong to someone?? It makes them real? Like the tip of that bone. that bone has been places. That belt has seen use. That bag carried things. Like yanno?? I looove things that chip and have nicks. Give me wood and I'll put a dent in it I swear.

And I thing the latest thing that I'm trying to incorporate within my art, though I haven't had much time or opportunity to do it in personal art because of work, is colour variation within each element.

Like his face. His skin is obviously "beige" but you will see red, and blue and yellow and green in there too. Stuff like that yanno? I'm quite interested in taking this further in my future paintings. I'm still learning how to push what, where and how but ayyy issa journey I'll happily embark on.

And of course apart from all that it's the usual jazz, working on anatomy composition perspective doing it a lot over and over again babababababa and so on and so forth.

I haven't had much opportunity to paint since I started working on the comic last year but it had it own set of challenges for me. Linework is a completely different kind of rodeo and I've improved in different departments a lot and I'd be happy to bring those things into my paintings when I have the chance. I feel like I'm at a point where I know a lot more than what I've had the opportunity to put on paper, it feels exciting!

No joke I was convinced early on that Laios & the party were making like a huuuuge leap in assuming that Thistle was the Lunatic Magician TM like guys you can't just go accusing every random person you find in a living painting of being the manager. Alas... he was, in fact, the manager.

I think Thistle is very interesting and a great foil to Marcille, which I looove. They are both magic elf(-ish) advisors, they both get caught up in wanting to help the people around them live longer, they both become dungeon lords in pursuit of that... I think Thistle's story as it is works well for the narrative and I don't necessarily think he was underutilized exactly, but it is a little hard not to want A Bit More sometimes. Even if I do think it would be hard to add that more in without sacrificing some of the pacing overall :')

Favorite moment

I was initially going to say the ending for them, because I do love it, but you know what? I've got a more interesting answer. My favorite Thistle scene is.... this:

This fundamentally changes the trajectory of the story. In trying to find someone to stop the Winged Lion, Thistle launches Marcille into becoming the next lord of the dungeon. The next victim of the Lion. If Thistle hadn't resurrected Marcille, then the plot would have played out totally differently. She wouldn't have been able to finish unsealing the book. Laios would have been on his own when the canaries came. Would they have just cleaned everything up more easily? Would it instead have become something worse? Would Laios somehow have unsealed the book and become the lore of the dungeon right away?

I dunno. But this action reshaped Marcille's life, and Laios', and so many other people's. And it was done out of a desire to keep fighting. To not give in.

Augh idk. It's good. Their connection is good.

Idea for a story

Thistle & Chimera Laios.

But not just a "Laios gets eaten by the dragon instead," I think it would be cool to explore an AU where for some handwavy magic reason, Laios gets his soul bound up w/ the dragon during Falin's resurrection, and he gets poofed into a dragon form.

There's a note somewhere that says that chimeras start popping up the more the lord of the dungeon starts to lose their hold on things, but having met Laios before might help Thistle eventually realize that something is Off about the dragon. From there... well maybe he starts to ask questions and gives Laios more freedom to actually answer, and things could continue from there as Laios gets enough humanity back to start to understand what's happening, and also Thistle takes more time to question the Lion's plans rather than just continue to act. They'd be stuck together, probably with Laios still under Thistle's control, but maybe as they figure out more of the truth, they'd actually work together? Need to rely on each other? I'd like to see how each of them would deal with that situation...

PLUS then on the flip side I think switching Falin into the group part way through the story (rather than at the start) could be really interesting. So the adventures on that side would be fun too.

umm idk. Is Thistle widely regarded as a Marcille foil? Because if not then why. They are so inchresting. funky little mages.

Favorite relationship

Hmmm okay so like obviously Thistle & Marcille, but also as seen in my story idea I want to explore more of Thistle & Laios bc their interactions were fun, soo... I'll just say the Dungeon Lord quartet as a whole. I like when people draw art of them all together. Let them bond through shared trauma. And also all of them have tried to kill at least one other person there at some point. It's great. They should go on brunch dates.

I have to look it up because I never heard of this series, but omg the art style of the manga looks sooo (very shojo) adorable!!! The heroine's clothes and hairstyle are so Nika's fashion! Some people said Nika's fashion is very similar to Misa's from Death Note on Twitter too! (I haven't read that series tho)

I only looked into a few pages of Vampire Kisses on Google search, and yeah I think this series looks good to appeal to adventurous young teens, with a good cringe/lovey dovey romance that everyone should be experienced reading while they are young!! I might check it out if I have a chance to find some time(to relax my brain)

I love the idea of Nika loving this series and sharing it with Damian, I also like to think that she absorbs a lot of mangas when she's in Japan and can't see him freely. And once they met Nika would recommend so many series she likes to Damian, and they binge on the anime that intrigue them. Then they would discuss the plot/story, and characters and draw fanarts together if they liked it well enough.
