ren kaji knew that you had been up to something lately. 

you and his vice captain kusumi have been busy giggling nonstop and checking your phones like a bunch of middle school girls, with you gushing and gasping about "how cute!" and "that's so perfect!" while looking down at your screen, showing only kusumi what was on it, receiving a reaffirming nod from the vice captain. 

at first, kaji was fine with it and did not care at all. he found it nice that you got along so well with kusumi, but after an hour of you two still going at it and not paying full attention to him when he tried to tell you something, he swore he was about to throw a fit if you didn't quit it.

what kaji didn't know was that you and kusumi are the co-presidents of the "kaji club" on social media, where you post pictures of daily kaji updates. 

at first, it was just because you found everything about your boyfriend so insufferably cute - his bowl haircut, his blond hair that he dyed all by himself, his unreadable expression, his never ending supply of lollipops, his iconic high kick, his sharp little canines (that sometimes you received little love bites from), his unpenetrable eardrums that were exposed to such loud music everyday, and much, much more. 

you wanted to give the whole world a glimpse of that cuteness - but that goes without saying that only you got the full package to yourself. 

so you thought about how funny it would be if he had his own fanclub. well, why not? if people loved him enough to vote him as their grade captain, then for sure he'd have lots of fans, right? and eventually, your idea turned into a reality. 

kusumi would send you the pictures he took that day, and you would manage the fanclub account. this time it was of kaji jumping into the water to save a cat while on patrol (as well as him patrolling topless afterwards - needless to say that particular picture was saved in your phone in a heartbeat, but you never uploaded it, it was for you and only you, his lover, to see and appreciate.) 

eventually, the kaji fanclub blew up to be an overnight sensation, mostly members of bofurin and the townspeople of makochi are among his biggest fans, but of course, you will always be ren kaji's number one fan.

"what the hell are you two laughing about?" kaji huffed in annoyance, trying to get a peek at your phone screen. 

you smile sweetly at him, letting out a "hm?", acting all innocent and telling him it was nothing and that he shouldn't worry about it. 

kaji, still having his suspicions that you were up to your shenanigans again, grabbed your phone from your hands and took a look at what you were so fixated with - it was a picture of kaji drinking from his bottled water with the caption "here is our super cool grade captain reminding everyone to always stay hydrated!~" then next it was a close up of kaji holding his lollipop. "today's lollipop flavor is peach! fun fact: it is also ren kaji's favorite fruit." it says.

oh. so that's what it was.

it was so random, that kaji couldn't stop the corners of his mouth from twitching upwards, almost smiling. he found it so unexpected and ridiculous but managed to keep a straight face.

"delete it." he cleared his throat, trying to fight back his amusement at the two of you coming up with something like this for him.

"no! give it back, ren! it's for our kaji fanclub! it already has more than a hundred likes, see! umemiya even commented-" you started, whining and pouting at your boyfriend, who rolled his eyes at you.

he hands you back your phone and sighs. "i don't need a hundred likes." kaji says, firmly. "because i already have the one like i need right here." 

you gasped when you realized that kaji was referring to none other than you, his "one like" that he needed. kaji, upon becoming aware of how lovestruck he probably sounded, turned his back away from you and put his headphones back on.

you fangirled so hard at that moment, all giddy and smiling at your boyfriend, teasing him about how you were of course his number one fan and that you wanted to have his autograph.

kusumi was sitting across the both of you, and snapped a picture when you were rubbing your cheek against kaji's, him side-eye glancing at your overjoyed, smiling face. kaji is still so fond of you, even if you did silly things like this.

kusumi, beaming from ear to ear, shows the both of you the picture he took, and typed a message on his phone. it read: "you two are so cute, my favorite couple! <3 get a guy that looks at you with so much love the way kaji does! >///< #couplegoals" he adds "i really ship you two!" 

you and kaji read the message on kusumi's notes app. when he finished reading, he let out an exasperated sigh. kaji points at you and kusumi. "i have no idea what a "ship" is, but right now i just want to ship you two off to somewhere far away." 

he was kidding, of course. you knew that he would let you do what you wanted anyway, as long as he could see your lovely smile and how happy he made you, kaji wouldn't ask for nothing more. because plot twist, ren kaji is also your number one fan.

once you got home, kaji made sure to let you know his exact thoughts regarding your fanclub.

"tch. you don't need to have my face on your phone, you know. you can have the real thing right here." he leans in closer to you, pulling his lollipop out of his mouth and replacing it with your lips.

the next morning, after waking up from a long and eventful night with kaji, you expressed your shock upon gazing at yourself in the mirror and finding out you've been marked up by little purple bruises and love bites that left some of kaji's teeth marks littering everywhere, but most prominently on your neck, thighs and chest area.

"ren kaji! what the hell is this!" you exclaimed, waking him up with a jolt, you pointing at all the parts he left his marks on. 

he stared at it for a second, admiring his handiwork. "you said you wanted to have my autograph."

"i didn't mean it like this!" you sighed, wondering how in the world you would be able to go out looking like this, all bitten and marked up by kaji. 

"i can always sign it again for you if it fades. i'm all yours, after all." he said it with such a straight but smug face and he was so unapologetic about it that you wanted to smack him. or have him devour you again. or both. 

you can't be the only one showing him your appreciation, because kaji has his ways of showing his too.

Anyone the color crew considers a friend gets a matching jacket that green made with something representing them embroidered onto the old jackets, chosen has one and has it tied around his waist most of the time, everyone else wears it near 24/7

Victim: gray dead anime mom hair, scene kid from Spencer's in the 12s looking clothes, long sleeves striped under shirt with a t shirt on top, ripped up skinny jeans, has broken shackles around his wrists that act like the lasso tool but he doesn't use very often, a fire fox icon often sleeping on his shoulders he has three that act as attack dogs, soft rainy day blue eyes that are normally kept in that same dead anime mom half lidded state, he looks calm and approachable and loving after all that's how he gets you.

Chosen: black hair to his shoulders that he keeps in a bun, dyes red streaks into it, combat jacket three sizes too big, ripped up t shirt and jeans he never bothers to fix, wears a face mask when hiding his identity because his mouth is abnormally long and it freaks people out, has a locket with a family picture in it (it's a picture of Alan's face and cupped hands, the hollows are in his hands waving at the camera, Alan took his picture made it the computer background then took a screenshot of the boys, it was Alan's phone screen lock picture) everything he owns is burned at the hems because of his anger issues triggering his powers. Eyes glow red and are set into a permanent scowl, he has worry lines.

Dark: wild red hair he's never brushed in his life, he dyes black streaks in it, has one of those slutty leotard things that show the hips? You know what I mean, and combat pants, he has five virabands one of each limb, he made the first one just to give chosen a challenge but after seconds powers awakened he made more for when the kid has nightmares and needs to be held down so he doesn't hurt himself or anyone else with his powers going haywire, it only really works because the powers not concentrated, also has a locket with the family picture, he says it's for chosens sake but he stays up at night sometimes staring at it. Has black eyes but his pupils glow such a bright red their mistaken for red, all the hollows have sharp teeth but darks are especially sharp and he keeps them in a lazy grin, he has pronounced crows feet.

Second: orange wavy hair in a low short pony with it down it only reach's his shoulders, basic orange hoodie and well he does have his own clothes he more often then not is wearing some eclectic mess of stolen goods from his brothers, he likes Vic's shirts and darks pants the most and will try to get away with chosens jacket at any given opportunity, chosen trades his hair bands to get it back. Eyes glow a radioactive green, his lip is always busted from him chewing it, as are his cuticles from picking at them, is always a little wide eyed and sad looking even if he's over joyed just because his face has kind of settled like that, real case of "resting depression face"

Cannons turn!

Cannon second! Same hair as au, wearing the groups jacket and has is closed most of the time because he gets cold easy but takes it off to sleep, wears paint pants and shirt near always and there always covered in new color splash each day, convinced chosen to perce his ears and has a industrial one that he puts a spare pencil tool in after the box episode so he's never really disarmed, the other side has a little curser on a chain because he felt bad that Alan couldn't get a jacket. His eyes are still nuke green but they don't glow and his hands have calusus but he doesn't pick them like au infact he has them painted, heavy eye bags because he actually has to get up in the morning when the crew decides to have late night party's.

Red: fluffy red mop that he just cuts when ever it gets into his eyes, has the fellow headband to keep it off his scalp when exercising, cat ears, no really he has actual working cat ears and not normal ones, his jacket is hanging on for dear life and Is always at least a little off his shoulders even keeps it on when he sleeps, gym clothes even in the snow, bandages and gaze patches everywhere, his jacket hides the fact that he's fucking ripped because after the "blue punching obsidian" incident he got competitive and started working harder, he's up to diamond now. Eyes are whiskey colored have slits like a cats and he's sensitive to air changes just like cats are.

Blue: ties the group jacket like a cardigan around their neck when working in their garden or making potions so it doesn't get ruined, overalls are a farmers best friend, has the longest hair out of everyone reaching his knees, ties it into a bun for fights, braids it for potion making and sleep, and puts it in a ponytail the rest of the time, keeps it down when they plan on just hanging out with the guys. Has excessive nerve damage from the lava and can't feel if they've been cut or injured below their chest. Eyes are a very rich mahogany that gained purple flecks after a while of messing with potions, red asked Herobrine about it and it turns out to just be his body gaining immunity to most of the bad side affects potion making gives you (turns out his neather wart addiction is actually fairly common among potion makers because it helps build and keep those immunities which are important when experimenting)

Yellow: blond typical trans boy hair cut, meaning under shave with a quiff, has the jackets sleeves perpetually shrugged up his arms, only closes it when working on a more advanced machine, under shirt is stained red and he doesn't own a single pair of clean cargo jeans all of them have at least one mend in them. The bridge of his nose is stained red from rubbing there when he had redstone on his fingers, his fingers themselves are also permanently red, where's glasses near identical to Alan's, his eyes are a washed out pinkish rose, almost gray.

Green: for the longest time had an an uncontrolled frizzy mess of hair I'm talking untamable never seen coconut oil 3c, but after they sticks where introduced to dj, he managed to wrangle them into locks, DJ helps him braid them best he can if he ever wants to clean up but it's either dreads or spending hours everyday calming them. Only one who wares the crew jacket like a normal person, also the only one with a normal clean and sensible wardrobe in general, likes skirts but considering it's a bitch to fight in them only wears them when going out and knowing the others won't start a group bonding brawl, always has both head phones and earbuds on his person and is the only one too keep his phone intact and not broken. Eyes are hazel mixing green and gold with flecks of blue around the center, has audio processing issues and it helps him understand people if there's a background noise of some sort also fights better with a beat. Also has really bad tinnitus and always has, it's been made worse by recent fights though.

Purple: curly hair more of a 3b or 3a, keeps it in a single braid so it's easier to keep track of and care for, mango helps them with it in the mornings, the most recent one to get a jacket after the king stuff went down. Likes fancy and just nicer clothes like button ups and poets shirts and leggings, has bird wings because there mother was made for a stick flight animation test, but there weak and they can't fly like there mom can, they can hover and glide but they need an elytra to act as basically a sort of brace if they want to propel them selves, and even then they can't get to high speeds without rockets. Has orangy red autumn colored eyes like there mother.

okay so. my issue is that like i have a vague blur of them in my head that's kinda a mix of a bunch of fanart. i'm gonna tag a few artists that i think just capture the exact idea i have of them perfectly (in talk your talk, but also just like, in general, because i do picture them both pretty similarly in any au/fic):

@/aqua.en.llamas on insta also has the most incrediblee solangelo art, but even more specifically will. ive been the hugest fan of her for ages, have edited her fanart a few times - i think she was one of the first pjo artists that i followed back when i was getting into the fandom, so that may have definitely influenced my vision of will in my head!!

as for clothing style, i think they're both pretty lazy dressers. like will's go-to is just any kind of tee-shirt (he has a lot of tour merch and that's like a good majority of his closet) or college merch like an nyu hoodie and baggy jeans or cargo pants, and nico is either wearing his own merch (literally just because there are, i imagine, a lot of messed up ones or like misprints and stuff and so he just takes whatever is messed up and shoves it in his own closet-) and lots of will's clothes. and then black jeans or sweatpans). the other portion of nico is if you're doing smth that he was styled for, in which it could be either smth super fancy (again, your best bet is prob looking up conan gray red carpet looksDSFLKJ) or like a leather jacket and a tee-shirt with some sort of skull or skeleton

Hm... Well, the only canon female weasel from the comics does have boobs (I'm sorry I just love that word XD it's just funny to me to say). But Winnie Weasel is also more humanoid than any other weasel in the WFRR universe... Which is a nice way of saying that she looks like a furry joined the animation team and this was his way of coping with his inner turmoil in a society where suxuality was still hush-hush and everything was wrong unless it was hetero-vanilla.

Who would have thought that giving a weasel long limbs and batfish lips would have instantly turned her into a disgrace.

But Shiny, on the other hand, she doesn't have that body type. She's the same height as the Toon Patrol, and posses the iconic short legs long body look they have too. I'm not quite sure how boobs would look/work on that body type. Maybe Shiny just uses hair conditioner to make her chest fur extra fluffy?? (The book Who Censored Roger Rabbit had Hare Conditioner for rabbit characters. I'm pretty certain Toontown would have a specific bran of conditioner that makes your hair fluffier than normal. But Shiny also has fluffy head fur that she styles like hair too, so that could be a part of it too)

One of the gags I can see Shiny doing is something akin to the 'trenchcoat' gag. Like, maybe the guys have to distract Greasy for some reason, and Shiny knows it (because this is one of her 'arrested by the TP' times and she's under house arrest)

Shiny: *rolls her eyes. Tosses her toast on the plate* You guys are trying way too hard.

Smartass: Oh, and you're one 'ta talk? You haven't done jack!

Shiny: Because I've been waiting for you dummies to stop and realize. But you clearly aren't gonna, so-

I call JPJ's 1980 haircut "dad hair" because its what a lot of white dad's rocked 80-00's. Since you're Queen Jonesy, can you tell me how long he had that cut?

I know I can easily research this myself but I just love when you talk about him.

it is SUCH a sensible dad haircut like?? after all this time, he finally gave into having three daughters. but it honestly makes it perverse and iconic for him since the shortest he had had it was 1975 and that was still a scruffy moment with those sideburns (sidenote, I don't think we talk about his sideburns enough).

as far as how long he had it, i can only guess at. I think he probably held onto having short hair for the most part until the later 80s. The next photographic evidence of him is December, 1981.

Sorry, anon, I disagree. Most of these choices are downgrades.

Like, ok, I guess this is my fault because most of the time I bring them up as negative examples, but the truth is that I always thought that the original Tokyo Mew Mew Costumes where pretty much perfect shape-wise. That's kind of part of my mild frustration with them: individually, the outfits are so good that to solve their main problem -the fact that they are all monochrome and thus look un-cohesive and loud when put together- you'd need to do some extreme changes to even add neutral colors, like white. And guess what? THIS DOESN'T EVEN FIX THAT. Instead now the chokers have ribbons in them. WHY? The originals were perfectly fine and iconic, these neck ribbons are a lot more generic by comparison and are a lot more distracting, and the ones on the leg bracers are worse!

Ok, that merits some elaboration. I should probably make a separate post about this but long story short, the thing with ribbons, frills/lace and tails is that they are eye-catching so everything about them -shape, color, placement- has to be very carefully balanced. The leg ribbons not only pull the eye towards the leg because they're big, they also dangle, and that movement competes with the other looser parts of the design, which is especially problematic for this team which has mostly athletic ways to move thanks to their powers. The neck ribbons technically make sense because they all wear corsets and that's a tried and tested combination in playboy bunny-girl costumes which are the trunk of this team's style, but guess what? NONE of the girls are playboy bunnies!!! No, not even Mew Berry!!!! ALL of them have other stuff going on in their costumes that competes with these ribbons! "But Zakuro/Reneé is skimpy-" Zakuro is not skimpy in a way that allows for this cutesy bullshit!!! She is a bad bitch who uses a goddamn whip, which btw she should be allowed to show off all the time instead of being forced to carry the hilt alone. Oh god, the pendants have been replaced with boring hearts as well which was the one thing they all shared in the same shape and color and was UNIQUE TO THE FRANCHISE, it's like they're trying to piss me off.

And again, sorry anon, you are completely entitled to your tastes, but I hate the triangular lace trimming. It's pointy, looks uncomfortable, it distracts the eye, it makes the outfits harder to draw, and like every other bad choice in this reboot it takes away from the slickness of the original designs. It also doesn't make sense??? I mean, for Ichigo it does because her fruit is a strawberry, but like... they had fur lining... because they are furries. I don't understand why they needed to be changed into this.

It's too late now, but I guess I'll get into the specifics:

Mew Ichigo:

Ok, the one good choice the reboot does is keep her hair red. Yes, the cotton candy bob is very cute and fluffy, whatever you say, but between the inside of the ears and the eyes and the rest of her clothes it was always a bit too much. And like I said, the lace trimming almost works for her theme, but putting it below the skirt is pointless, because HER TOP ALREADY ENDS IN LEAVES OVER THE BALLOONED SKIRT GIVING THE SHAPE OF A STRAWBERRY. The skirt is also rounder now btw, and I don't it works as well because between the height at which its placed and the leaves it kinda bulks up her stomach, although that just may be the position she's in in this picture, but in any case it doesn't fit her movement. Heavy ballooned skirts work better for girls who bounce or glide/fly, not girls who backflip and land on 4 legs. (A post about how magical girl mobility affects the outfits will now begin process to explain this further) For some reason they also decided to give her boots white laces which match with absolutely nothing and oh??? They took away the ribbon in her glove??? Probably because they realized it would compete with her new neck ribbon????? You know, I have an idea guys, what if... and hear me out on this one... you just leave the chockers as they were????? I see that all the girls have the hearts in their gloves now, does that mean that they all activate their attacks the same way she did??? That seems arbitrary to me but, hey, if you want to go through all these twists and turns go off I guess...

Mew Mint

I always liked Mint's outfit because of how extremely simple but effective it is. She is sprite-like, dainty, ephemeral yet pointy, so her mini-dress is extremely simple, and the way it form-fits to her leaving the skirt with minimal movement brings more attention to the way her body moves when she does ballet, which is why her transformation sequence is my favorite. Her short boots are also a stroke of genius, allowing her to stand on pointe and make her ballet moves comfortably without loosing practicality, so her gloves were made to match that style. All of the new accessories on this reboot take away from that, even the laces on her boots, but especially the hair. No idea why they needed to change that, her look is already iconic and passes the silhouette test, but while I'm certainly not against ballerina characters with loose hair, the fact is that it does take away from conveying to us that she has that ability.

Mew Lettuce:

(Tumblr doesn't allow more than 10 images per post, which is bullshit so here's the link to her wiki page to see her original outfit)

Lettuce was always the worst dressed on the team, even though it wasn't because any of her choices were bad on their own. Her outfit was fine, shape wise, but it hardly ever felt like it fit her personality, which wasn't helped by the fact that out of all the Mew Mew's she's the one with the least specific way of moving. Her early 2000's hair looked stiff and too big for her braid, the ribbons symbolizing her antennae were always an odd choice, and she had the same problem as Ichigo in that her hair and eye color were too bright and made her look especially like an eyesore. So, does she look better with this redesign? Eh... yeah, I guess, but I still can't quite abide by calling this fully competent. Her skirt does wear the triangular lace trim better than the rest, but that doesn't mean I have to like it in the gloves and sleeves, or in the leg bracer, and with the new laces on the boots it takes away from the idea that Lettuce is the water-type of the team. I do like the ribbon behind her hair, but guess what?? Say it with me: it competes with the ribbon in front of it, and since they're allowing her to keep her 2 braids this time, it doesn't even look like it connects to anything!!!! But hey, congrats to her for getting the most out of this.

Mew Pudding:

Whyyyyyyy would you give Pudding a skirt?? What in the hell did they think was wrong with her short? SHE'S THE ACROBATIC MARTIAL ARTIST, IT'S PRACTICAL AND CUTE!!! This fucking reboot, I swear, it thinks ALL the girls were somehow too tomboyish and now it's forcing them to be more femenine with all these... unnecessary ribbons, her braids are longer and that doesn't look good, she's not allowed to wear her fur gloves which looked comfier, nor her baggy leg-warmers, no siree, non of that mildly tomboyish bullshit that shed light on her interests and abilities, only form fitting socks over flats and fucking laces and ribbons everywhere and you know what why don't we add ponytails that distract even more from the ear tufts just in case?

Mew Zakuro:

Ok look. I get why you would make Zakuro wear something underneath her shorts but why did it need to be this weird, pointy, uncomfortable-looking triangle... biker shorts?? Like... yeah, ok, Zakuro is sexualized, not gonna deny that, not gonna pretend like there isn't something to discuss there, but like... THIS DOESN'T EVEN FIX THAT! Fuck, if anything it almost makes it worst because her short in the reboot is tinier than the original and the ribbons actually infantilize the look! WHY does she need ribbons in her hair? Why change her bracelets for the pointy wrist-gloves??? I also don't quite dig the straighter, longer hair, taking away the pointiness makes her look less fierce and more traditionally beautiful in Japanese tastes. I get that she's a model, but goddamn it, she was never the "proper", lady-like, older sister type, she is THE MYSTERIOUS LONER OF THE GROUP.

I just... I don't get it dude. I mean yeah, I complained about the original designs before, but I don't get why make this changes in particular. Who saw these girls and told the designer "yeah we need them to be more femme"? Girls LOVE the original outfits, they are incredibly popular in cosplay and fanart!!!

i’m not even familiar with their lore. Reason why i stopped caring about the lore behind faust and mephistopheles is that an interlude happens that shows that mephistopheles is just some homunculi made by some mage nobody named faust. and even then the interlude doesn’t talk about the lore behind the novel, its just you helping mephy kill faust

that being said though i would hope the developers expand on their origins more and potentially even release a “true” mephistopheles (a girl can dream)

So, they’re not even the real deal demon known as Mephistopheles in the first place, and i can hear u going “well that’s lame” and like, no, we just need to redirect our feelings from appreciating a demon to appreciating a homunculi who has a weird characterization in the fate universe

Design tangent:

Fgo was actually my first gacha, and so when I came across this servant I kinda instantly fell in love with their design, I love the colors used in their final ascension and overall appearance. The hat that has horns but they're not quite horns, theyre these weird colorful pointy twisty things, the large garish butterfly ornament on their chest (which isnt ugly at all and somehow works so well with their everything on them) is cool, the tights are so cool to look at, i mean look -- a checkered pattern with golden lining on the shorts portion, the tits out look like yes we get it youre insane, the gloves??? purple and also cool, plus theyve got this gradient thing going on? and the fingers have this line going through them, thats so cool. actually the only other servant that comes close to this in terms of “out there” colorful designs is probably final ascension kama and qsh ( i love them both). Also, mephy has this scissor weapon?? thats so cool lol i dont see any other servant wielding giant scissors (for the love of god give mephy an animation update i need to see them use the scissors while doing flips) and they also have this bomb obsession going on? cant relate, but the bombs designs are so so cool i mean its a fucking centipede -- no idea if centipedes are a thing in the original faust but thats something Ill have to look up at some point. ALSO mephy is wearing heels oh my god anytime people wear heels is an automatic win. No clue whats going on with the hair but its kinda cute (dont question me on that) and it has curls and the hair colors are cool i mean its like a lavender thing with darker purple highlights? i love colorful things and i love people with wacky personalities so. Oh my god their tail how could i forget that its so cute and dumb i almost forgot it was there, like what is that even a whip? i dont.. but its got these little purple tips to them that are kinda cute/cool but more cool because tails are fucking up there alongside heels in terms of cool stuff on characters. and of course their fluffly cape -- again no idea what the designers were going for i mean look its a mess of a design i have no fucking idea what any of it means and i hope they explain it someday because that hair and the butterfly and the tail and the hat and the fluffy garb and a bomb obsession?? and this got the go ahead - yeah lets add that to the game like what

anyways this is me going off all about why i like their design! but we haven’t even touched the nitty gritty of it all. their personality! what personality you may ask? havent they always been some weirdo laughing a lot and saying dumb shit all the time? well yes and no

Characterization:

True to their dumb little clown design mephy also acts like one.

Some servants bond 1 lines are like “fuck off” and some actually talk to you, nah this bastard mephistopheles’ just laughing. and for the second bond line it seems to imply theyre fuckin with you more (showing up and dissapearing and saying ‘afterimage’) so thats nice that theyre actually making some effort to mess with you in a way? some servants take a long time to actually interact with you so this shows theyre not afraid of interacting with you and thats just at bond 2. and of course the third bond line implies they were probably trying to betray you, its stated in more than 1 place that mephistopheles (actually isnt this a caster class thing?) will betray you or attempt to do so. So the third bond line seems to imply that their attempts have been stopped by you and that’s what they say after some failed attempts. So after stopping this freak from doing some shit their next bond line is actually doing a confession! a jester being honest who couldve seen that one coming but theyre 100% not lying, they really arent a demon but a homunculi made by faust

speaking of faust we’re going to backtrack a little into their interlude that i brought up at the start of this post, its one of those dream interludes and it starts with mephy asking you to help him plant bombs for their eventual reuinion/showdown with faust -- in the meantime faust keeps sending golems in an attempt to kill both you and mephy

When you track faust down, it’s shown that faust was your typical mage, inhumane and uncaring. It’s also pointed out that this faust killed innocents, but this typical mage behavior is boring to mephy, and they say that boring typical behavior is why they wanted to kill them

 so i really cant blame mephistopheles for being the way they are, being raised by this type of guy, even if mephy was always messed up and wacky from the beginning its no reason for faust to attempt to kill him.

Mephistopheles also shows up in salem, cu alter’s interlude, and of course the knk crossover event, and some other things im most likely forgetting but those 3 are ones that i find notable

anytime they show up theyre actually helpful, in salem mephy points out that the nature of the being responsible for the salem epic of remnant is something alien rather than a typical foreign god, mephy also tells you that time is also being sped up and in their weird way they try to cheer you up by spouting some nonsense at the beginning (guda needed some kind of distraction from the grim events that had just transpired at that point in the story), i cant quite remember what mephy did in the knk event but they were a part of your group and were helpful the whole time, actually @/zeravmeta does an amazing analysis of their role in the knk event as well as some extra character analysis here

mephistopheles is kinda cryptic in a weird way though,

like overall i mean theyre a jester homunculi in appearance so yeah its to be expected but come on i love morally gray characters, despite their supposed betrayal hints scattered around here and there

they have this one line that always gets to me

and this line is said with a completely serious face too

the rare serious mephistopheles face! its kinda grim to see that line, no laughs, no nothing, their voice is kinda serious and monotone too. of course this could be just to get you to lower your guard but its still kinda out there that they have this rarely used portrait and that line, so i like to take it as being said to you when youre by yourself and with sincerity

and at least sei (with her wacky outfit and all lol) seems to get along with mephy and thinks theyre nice woohoo

so at the end of the day you have this guy that laughs a lot and gives mixed signals

and they fuck with you

and will most likely try to kill you more than once but hey thats just another tuesday at chaldea

Before I finish last thing I want to point out is this snippet from the fgo source material book which provides more information on servants, and this specific translated bit under mephistopheles

at the core of it all this homunculi....can be your friend! you just need to not go into despair i guess

Gina Peters would never consider herself a style icon, she's no Flynn, but she does know what looks good on her, and sticks with it. Thus her short undercut hairstyle hadn't been changed in a bit, but she pulled it off, so she didn't see the point of updating it.

That however, didn't stop her from being jealous of all the fun things that Julie could do with her hair to change her look. This also telegraphed Julie's mood some days, as she tended to have it more tightly done one days she was especially anxious to keep herself from pulling her curls out. On lazy days she hadn't bothered to wash it due to the extensive care it required, Julie tossed it up in a fluffy ponytail. But no matter what, Julie always looked amazing, not that Gina would ever tell her so aside from in a friendly way, no matter how much her heart ached to be more.

However, what style Gina envied most was braids. French, Dutch, fishtail... Gina loved them all. They all looked so gorgeous, and she loved to study them. When she had been younger, with longer hair she had warm memories of her mother braiding her hair, but once Gina fell into the punk scene and cut her dark locks, those moments were no more. But of course, those moments had stopped long before then when her parents decided their fights were more important than caring for their only child.

Still, Gina longs to capture that intimacy once more, so one day while she and Julie are hanging out, she asks tentatively "C-can I braid your hair?"

Julie looks up from where she's painstakingly painting her nails with a vibrant electric blue colour. "I-I don't usually let other people touch my hair. Too many bad experiences where people didn't ask first and ended up hurting it."

"I'll be super gentle Jules, I promise!" Gina's hand flies to her heart, voice earnest.

Julie's face softens, and she nods, going back to her manicure. Gina scoots further onto the edge of the bed, taking Julie's waterfall of curls into her hands. Julie's hair is soft, silky, with the subtle scent of coconut. She lets her fingers run through the strands gently, tenderly treating any tangle she finds, periodically checking in with Julie. Julie is almost purring when Gina scratches her scalp, so she takes that as a success.

Finally, Gina starts the braids. Not having much chance to experiment with braiding in the past, she starts with a simple braid first, twisting and overlapping the strands into two braids hanging on both sides of Julie's face. The braids are a bit fat and untidy, but not terrible for Gina's first try. She undoes them tenderly and tries again, this time pulling a bit tighter, but not enough to make Julie wince or complain.

Eventually Gina is happy with the braids and grabs some hair ties to finish them off. Julie surveys the damage in the mirror but she beams with happiness. "Not bad G, not bad at all. Next time you'll have to let me do something with your hair."

Gina flushes, running her fingers through her own hair, tossing it up off her forehead. She's not sure she'd survive Julie's nimble fingers in her hair, but she blushes, bites her lip and nods. "Maybe next time I could try and give you a braid crown? They always look so pretty on Instagram!"

"That's a bit advanced for you babe, but maybe I could walk you through how to French braid and we can work up to it?" Then Julie leans in and presses a sweet kiss to the corner of Gina's mouth. "After all, we've got nothing but time."

When Gina went home later that night, Julie's braids had come undone, and her own hair was quite disheveled, but she was so well kissed she couldn't find it in her to care. After all, her new girlfriend had promised to teach her all the fun ways they could spend their time together, and it didn't have to end with playing with each other's hair any longer.
