Can I request Shu Itsuki with a fem s/o thats afraid that he's not really in love with her or that he'll fall out of love
Tumblr media Tumblr media
༻Out of touch༺
→Characters: Shu Itsuki/fem!reader (use of Y/n and she/her pronouns)
→Cw: teen and up, fighting, making up, yelling, angst (?), happy ending, idk what else to put here help
→A/n: hii! Tysm for requesting <3, this was actually my first request!! I’m sorry I haven’t had the time to post this so i hope you enjoy it :3
Tumblr media
Dating Shu Itsuki had it’s perks.
Like him spontaneously gifting Y/n a beautiful dress or anything he decided to make for her at the time. But, one side a lot of people didn’t know, was that he often grew distant of his lover. She would patiently wait for his arrival at late hours with a warm smile and open arms, but he simply greeted her and left to shower and get ready for bed.
Of course, it’s understandable for him to be tired of working relentlessly as an idol and a designer. Even so, that gesture made Y/n rethink everything they’ve been through, some including fights or general disagreements between couples that always ended up the same way: with a hug and apology coming from them both.
At the same time, it wasn’t easy dealing with how Shu felt about Valkyrie’s sudden downfall, he couldn’t think of anything else except the faces of the crowd staring at him in disgust. Y/n tried helping him get out of that depression he felt, but to no avail. It went on as to Shu had yelled at her for dropping something so small as a cup during one of their arguments
“Can’t you do anything right at all?!” Shu yelled in anger as tears prickled her eyes, she stiffened her cries and picked up some shards before Shu had realized what he had done. He tried lending a hand but she just took the broken shards and threw them in the trash by herself. Y/n knew that part of that frustration he felt wasn’t because of what happened, but it still hurt how he yelled at her
During the night, just as Y/n was going to bed, Shu caught her just in time before apologizing deeply and having a conversation about it. He promised things would change for the better, but did it really? In due time, Shu was able to make Valkyrie grow once more with Y/n and Mika’s help, apart from that, it took a long time for him to recover from the trauma on-stage, Y/n however, encouraged him throughout ever little step. It almost felt as if he was using her as a form of coping mechanism from it all.
Even after the war, when the five-eccentrics went on their own separate paths, Shu grew quite distant from Y/n. On their second anniversary, Y/n waited for Shu with a beautiful cake and some flowers for him, until minutes turned into hours and just like that, he had yet again missed another important event in their lives. The next morning was like all those other times where he’d apologized and promised to make it up next time. Y/n had enough and pushed Shu away before speaking
“Do you still love me, Shu? Did you fall for me at first and then decided to treat me as if I didn’t matter to you anymore? I’m your partner, if you truly fell out of love, it’s best if we part ways here” She spoke with tears in her eyes, walking towards the kitchen of their shared apartment as Shu walked behind her.
“Of course I still love you my dear, it’s just that I’ve been so busy and-“ She huffed in both annoyance and irritation, Y/n knew that he had forgotten like usual
“Busy? Even to the lenghts of missing our anniversary for the second time?” Shu sighed, looking at the cup of (beverage of choice) in her hands, the truth was that he had felt like the connection between them got lost in between all the success Valkyrie had had, and he couldn’t dedicate that much time to a relationship anymore. Shu didn’t want to let her go no matter what, even if it meant doing anything just to apologize for all he’s done
“Listen, I know being an Idol is hard work, but I’d appreciate if we went out sometime or spent time together, it doesn’t matter where, just you and me, okay?” He nodded at her words, holding her hand as she smiled softly. Y/n was right, perhaps what they needed was to have a relaxing night out between two lovers
Tumblr media
The following week consisted of Shu making time for their relationship, now that Valkyrie was in a small hiatus, he took this chance to travel with Y/n to Paris, showing his beloved the many places he adored and other things like art museums and elegant coffee shops, even kissing under the Eiffel Tower at night, where it shined so brightly under the two “over the moon” lovers.
It all felt like the first time they fell in love. The best thing of the entire trip, was when Shu was able to reserve a spot at one of the most luxurious restaurants and decided to celebrate their (late) anniversary there. It seems like Shu really did his best to make it up for her for all the things he had done and the things she did for him throughout the relationship
In the end, once they returned to Japan and Valkyrie’s hiatus was over, Shu managed to fit in his schedule, whenever he could, a lunch date or anything that allowed them to spend time together
Tumblr media
When Y/n’s birthday arrived, he made sure to spend the entire day with her, taking her out on a movie date and a walk around the town, hand in hand as he smiled, making sure to give her an unforgettable birthday. He wanted to let her know how much he changed, and how far he’s willing to go for their love. Shu’s main goals had changed for the woman he so loved, to cherish and protect her, even when times where difficult and after many mistakes, he finally felt at peace beside her

I’m told I need to stop putting you on a pedestal. I need to come to the reality of what the relationship really was. I was just another supply for you. Another person you could manipulate into believing you loved. Manipulation is your favorite thing. I know this now. So this post is my post to you so open your ears and listen really well because I’m not saying it anymore after this. This is going to be the last I speak of this bc I need to let go. I’m ready to let go.
Dear ******
I can still remember the first time I met you. Your smile. Your personality. You stand out wherever you are because you love to be the center of attention. The loudest one in the room. That’s for sure and you definitely stood out that night. I know now that you talk to everyone the way you talked to me. I didn’t know that then. I remember seeing you and I felt something I never felt before. I maybe used to call it fate, but not anymore. I know now your traits all line up with a narcissist but I didn’t even know what a narcissist was 5 years ago so I never would have been able to tell. But you sure fooled me well. You fooled me for months. I remember we used to sit in your car for hours and hours just talking. I loved those moments. Those were the moments i always missed. You were sweet back then. Kind to me. Listened to me. Didn’t make me feel like shit for having opinions different than yours. I know now you were love bombing me and you love bombed me so hard. I was vulnerable to you. I told you the things my daughters father did to me and years later you didn’t even remember because you weren’t really listening. Because unless it’s benefiting you or something that interests you then you don’t really listen. Those moments that were so special to me didn’t mean shit to you. When we broke up you told me I was sucking your dick in the car a week after we met. That never happened. You only see what you want to see. I never even sucked your dick those nights we were getting to know each other. we didn’t even do anything for like 2 months. I remember that of course but you don’t. I remember the first time we had sex.. I bet you don’t. I remember the first time you said you love me.. I bet you don’t. For fucks sake you didn’t even remember our anniversary every year, I had to remind you, how sad it is to have to remind their partner “our anniversary is coming up” and I’d wait to see if you got me anything or did anything and you never did. I think you got me a card once and a big bouquet of flowers. That’s all I wanted. Just little things to show you care. Wanna know something I loved the most about you? When we were laying in bed and you were sleeping you would always pull me close to you and squeeze me and say “you’re the best ever I love you so much.” That never happened when you were awake though.. only when you were sleeping. I used to tell myself that it meant you really did truly love me. What a joke now looking back.
You really just hurt me so bad and I hate you so much for it. I know I’m not suppose to hate you. I’m suppose to forgive and move on and blah blah blah. But fuck that. I’m allowed to hate you if I want. I don’t care what anyone says. Do I forgive you? I don’t know. Maybe not yet but I’m getting there. But why do I have to forgive you? You don’t want my forgiveness! You don’t think you need to be forgiven for anything! You’ve never said “wow I was awful to you I’m so sorry” so basically I have to forgive you for myself. For my own healing. And I just don’t want too bc you don’t deserve it. Do I wish you the best? I sure don’t. I hope you get what you deserve. I hope you someday feel the pain and hurt you’ve caused me and so many others to feel. I have to let this pain go though and I’m ready to move on from it. I am ready to not think about you anymore. It kills me that you let me walk away. That you didn’t fight harder. That you didn’t do whatever you could to make us work. I’m thankful now you didn’t because I 100% would have stayed with you but it still doesn’t make it hurt any less. Instead of putting effort into us you just replaced me with someone else. You focused your effort into that relationship instead of working on the one you already had. I’m glad you did though. I’m glad you got her pregnant. I’m glad she gets to deal with you now and I know she’s hurting too. Just wait until the baby comes and she’s up night after night alone with no help… I’m glad your not my problem anymore. I’m glad I get to be happy now. I’m glad I get to lay on the couch if I want too. I’m glad I don’t have to agree with every single thing you say anymore. I AM SO GLAD IM FREE. I am free. I am free. I am free and you will forever be a prisoner to your mind and body. This is my goodbye letter to you because I no longer want to allow you to take up anymore space in my mind and in my heart. I hope this works.
Goodbye ******
P.s
Fuck you 😁

When they neglect you for another girl Part 4 (Sakusa)
Tumblr media
Part One Part Two Part Three Part Four Part Five
Word Count: 2.6K
Genre: Angst to Fluff
masterlist
AN: YES I DID PUT MYSELF IN THIS STORY! SUE ME. This is basically inspired by a random conversation i had w the great @teesumu, so this is basically for you doll <3
Tumblr media
Sakusa:
You and Sakusa have been together for a around 10 years and love eachother immensly.
However recently Sakusa has been busy and you havent really had much time together lately as he claims been busy doing loads of visits with his new agent.
But of course, being the loving partner you are you wanted to revive the spark in your relationship.
You have been seeing a lot of people on social media posting their aesthetic ‘picnic dates,’ and you knew that this was something that appealed to you before it was ‘on trend.’ Kiyoomi immediately came to your mind once you had the idea of going on a date. You knew that you haven’t be around each other lately, as Kiyoomi always had either a ‘meeting’ or some sort of ‘interview’ that his new agent “Empress” has set up for him.
You didn’t really know Empress that well, just that she was ‘good at her job,’ a ‘hard and dilligent worker,’ and a ‘raging hottie’ with Atsumu’s opinion being the last one. You weren’t suspecting her to have any malicious intent towards you or Kiyoomi, since you knew that he had a great judge of character. But it was just odd, that every time Kiyoomi was running late or having ‘super-secret’ conversations on the phone it was always because ‘my agent set up this,’ ‘my agent set up that,’ and that’s what left you a bit wary.
As you were scrolling through your phone you see a calendar updating saying : Next Week‘ A DECADE AGO WE FELL IN LOVE.’
10 years. How could you forget? You and Omi have literally been together for a decade. You think back to the decade of madness and love you’ve been through together, smiling fondly to yourself but then you think about where you are now... barely even talking to each other, only mainly seeing him when he comes home from work.
You need to fix this. Or at least make an attempt to get you and Kiyoomi talking again. So, the only thing you can do, is plan that picnic.
You spent the rest of the day planning your anniversary picnic. ’It’s going to be great,’ you think to yourself, you have a list of all Omi’s favorite foods you're going to make him and bring and you are probably going to pick up a few board games and maybe even get some paint supplies. You and Kiyoomi used to paint a lot together, with the two of you not being the best of painters, but you enjoyed eachothers company non the less.
Everything was sorted...for the most part. All you needed to do was get Omi there, and it’ll all be okay. Right? As you were bubbling and looking for more picnic inspo, you hear your front door open which made you even more excited to tell your boyfriend your plans.
As you rush to go greet him, you see he’s on the phone making you roll your eyes. “No Empress it won’t work, we need this sorted by next week. Okay? Next week.” he says in an agitated way. He hangs up the phone and sighs, shoving off his duffel bag.
“Hey Omi, how was your day?” you say a bit hesitant, noticing his annoyed mood.
“Fine” He said dismissively, aiming to walk past you aiming for your bedroom.
“Oh well I have something amazing planned for ne-” you try to say following after him.
“Can we not do this right now Y/N,” he says again turning too look at you making you frown a bit, all you wanted to do is surprise him with your plans and have a day out with him. After noticing your sad look he finishes with “it’s just that Empress she’s bee-”
“I don’t want to hear about her.” you say bitterly folding your arms, Empress is the last person you want to hear about right now “God Omi can’t you just care about me? For once.”
“I do I-”
“You don’t anymore,” you say, with all the emotions and feelings you’ve been just supressing from a while coming up. You don’t even know how you got from point A to B with this conversation, but there's no stopping now. “I feel that, for a while now we haven’t been how we were before when we were just Y/N and Kiyoomi. Instead of how we are now. Just Y/N. Then Kiyoomi and Empress.”
After hearing his agents name, Kiyoomi’s name contorts to confusion “Empress? What does she have to do with anything?”
“How can you not see? For the past month all it’s been is ‘Empress this’ ‘Empress that,’” you complain “Having your super secret conversations with her, like god Kiyoomi can’t you see a problem with this?”
“It’s not like that Y/N, we’re just work partners” he says looking a bit annoyed “Just business.”
“Just business? So Kiyoomi, what were you talking about on the phone earlier” you say with your voice slight accusingly.
“Umm I, I can’t really say?” he says more of a question then a fully assured statement. You squint your eyes at him and scoff.
“What is going on with you Omi?” you say “are you cheating on me with her is that it?”
“No, no of course not Y/N! How could you even ask that?” he frowned at your question making your chest hurt, since deep down you knew he could never do that to you. Could he?
“Well tell me then, what were you talking about?” you ask again.
“I can’t say..” he finishes
“Well I can’t stay.” you say and his face goes back to confusion “Here. With you.”
“What do you mean Y/-”
“I need a break or something. I just can’t be here right now.” You start to rush and pack a big of things whilst Kiyoomi just stands there.
After you pack up your stuff, you look back and see Kiyoomi just there. Standing. You were upset, you kind of wanted him to rush after you and beg you not to leave, but he was just there. Standing. So you put the hand on the door and just before you leave you turn back and say “bye Sakusa, see you later?” to which you see him slightly nod at.
When the door shut, Kiyoomi starts to cry. After hearing you call him by his last name really twisted the knife that was already in his heart. You haven’t called him that since you were like 15. He knew what you wanted; he knew you wanted him to rush towards you and beg you not to leave, but he didn’t. He couldn’t. But what he could do is call the one person he only could call.
After a few rings, he hears “What do you need Saku?”
“She’s gone, she left.”
“What do you mean she’s gone, did you tell her?”
“No I didn’t tell her. And that’s the problem, Empress she think-”
“Saku, don’t worry about it. I’ll handle it.”
“You’ll handle it?”
“Don’t I always?”
He couldn’t argue with that, he just had to trust that Empress could sort it. “And also, don’t spend the week with your head up your ass crying, you’ve got a lot of grovelling to do kiddo.”
He nodded even though she couldn’t see him, as he knew that what just went down needed to be resolved, fast.
Meanwhile, on your end. You’re a mess. Sobbing all the time, tissues are your best friend, you’ve been waiting just waiting for a message or a call, or some form of communication. You just wanted to feel wanted by your boyfriend (can you even call him that now.)
You spent the rest of the week at your parents, immersing yourself in your work and doing ‘self care’ things, trying to forget all about the argument you and Kiyoomi had.
One day, you receive a letter, it wasn’t delivered by a mail man though. It was slid under your door, in a golden envelope sealed with a red hot wax seal. It read:
‘Dear Y/N,
My sweetheart, im sorry for how the week has been and I know a letter with only a fraction of how I feel won’t make up for how I acted that day. But im inviting you to join me at the Gardenia Botanical Gardens at 2 pm tommorow, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.
I know there is a big chance, you may not want to see me and I understand but please. I love you, so so much, that words can’t even describe. But I need you to see me apologise and I need to make it up to you.
I hope to see you there, I’d wait the whole day for you. If you don’t show, I understand.
Sincerely, Sakusa Kiyoomi
P.S The theme is ‘summer hot day, tea with the queen’ - Atsumu’
You smile at the letter, but wonder if you should actually go or not. You did want to see him of course and get this all resolved, but you had your own plans for your anniversary which wouldn’t of been spoiled if he didn’t withhold his super-secret phone calls.
It took you hours to contemplate on what to do, but you decided to just sleep on it and see how you feel tomorrow. In the morning, you knew what you wanted to do. Of course, you had to go, at least to hear him out and see if he really did cheat on you or not. For all you know he’s inviting you to tell you that he’s going to run away with his agent and his secret kids they had together. You shook the negative thoughts from your head and just repeated your mantra ‘hope for the best and prepare for the worst.’
When you got there, you didn’t exactly know where he would be but he said ‘botanical gardens’ so of course you decided to just wander around there. It was nice walking around and just smelling the roses, and seeing the pretty scenery.
“Excuse me ma’am,” you hear someone say tugging on your leg “um that mister over there told me to give you these.” Looking down, you see a small boy who looked about the age of four with a crumpled up bunch of roses handing them to you.
“Oh thank you,” you say giving the kid a head pat “where is this ‘mister’ might I ask?”
“He’s over there!” The kid pointed behind him and you look to see Kiyoomi sitting under a white gazebo which is surrounded in your favorite flowers and the table is filled with food.
You walk over to your ‘boyfriend,’ with him not noticing your present yet. When you reach him you say “I think she stood you up buddy,” you joke making him jump abit startled.
“Y/N!” he exclaimed, instantly beaming “You came you made it!” he stood up and pulled you into a hug, which you return before you remember why you came here in the first place.
“Oh I-” he says awkwardly
You decide to sit down pulling him down with you. You kind of sit there in uncomfortable silence, for a while until you both say.
“So I-”
“What are yo-”
You both laughed at your simultaneous comments, before Kiyoomi looks at you letting you speak. “What did you want to bring me here for?”
“I didn’t want, what happened last week to happen Y/N I-” he says looking a bit panicked “It wasn’t supposed to go this way.”
“Then how was it meant to go Sakusa.”
“Y/N, please don’t call me that, I know I made you upset but pleas-” he starts before getting distracted again “Y/N, I called you here to say a few things..”
“Them being.?” you ask a bit impatiently.
“I love you. I love you so much, you don’t even understand. Ever since I saw you at my volleyball game in our first year, in the stands just cheering us on. I knew that from that day, after I scored the winning point and our eyes met, that we were destined to be together. I just love you so much Y/N”
“Omi I don’t understand I-”
“Just let me finish please, It’s taken a while for me to say this. And trust me, there’s been so many times when I wanted to just say ‘hey Y/N let’s get married,’ but I couldn’t I was scared, and I wanted it to be perfect, so perfect. Because you deserve the world Y/N. That’s why I got Empress to help, I know that our conversations may seem odd, but I love you and she knows that she just wanted to help trust me. And she did, all this wouldn’t of been done if it wasn’t for her. But anyways Y/N what I waned to say was I love you and I love you and I-” he rambles on loosing track of his words.
But in the midst of his speech, you hear all that you needed and responded with the only way you can.
“Yes.” you say simply, with a growing smile on your face.
“Yes?” he repeats confused “What do you meann ye- ohhh" Kiyoomi blushes embarrased that after all that he ended up ruining the thought out proposal he wanted to give you with his ramble.
“Im sorry Y/N, I didn’t mean to say it like that I wanted it to be perfect and I-”
You shut him up with a kiss making his eyes widen as he reciprocates it anyways.
“What did she say?” you hear someone shout from a far, and you look over to see the MSBY Jackals all standing there with shit eating grins on their faces.
“I said yes!” you yell back, to which they all cheer and rush towards you guys giving you both hugs and slapping Kiyoomi on the back.
As the boys celebrate Omi finnally do what he’s been planning for ages, you get approached by Empress who awkwardly walks up to you. “ I didn’t want to leave the impression that me and Saku were any sort of thing?” she says
“Yeah I think it was definitely a big misunderstanding, it’s just that Omi was never around and whenever he was he was just talking to you and you know how it is.”
“I definitely know, I’d feel the same way if my boyfriend did that to me.”
“Oooh boyfriend?” you ask her feeling nosey on her romantic life.
“Yeah boyfriend. You know iwaizumi hajime... the trainer?” she says smiling a bit when she said his name.
“The trainer! Nice.”
The rest of the night was fun and was basically an engagement party for you and Omi all you and friends just partying and celebrating yours and Omi’s love for each other. “Omi” you say getting his attention “Happy ten year anniversary babe”
“Happy anniversary, I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with you.”
After the party you spend your months now planning for a big fat wedding, with the help of your new found bestie, Empress (who you obviously misjudged from the start.) You and Omi could never be happier, every thing was back to how it was before, maybe even better. And you definitely spent at least two Saturdays a month going out for picnics and it was now a tradition in your relationship, so in the end you did get your ‘aesthetic picnic date.’

Thought process and easter egg on the Digimon Anniversary Illustration!
Hello everyone, today I feel like explaining some stuff over my Digimon Illustration, mostly why I drew thing this way or point out some little details and easter eggs you might have missed. ;)
Click on read more if you want a LENGTHLY explanation with a lot of rambling from me, or if not you can just enjoy the process gif. <3
The Digimon illustration was a special one for me for different reasons. Firstly, obviously, Digimon! It was a show I grew up with, and I find it quite fitting that after a tough year of graduation movie under a pandemic, in which I really experienced the pain of growing up, I ended up finding back Digimon.
Secondly, as a child, I remember spending HOURS looking for fanarts online! I would save all the ones I found pretty and keep them preciously, i still have the folders actually haha. While pursuing art, I always had in mind thatI wanted one day to make a fanart my child self would have gone crazy over! And, i think I achieved that with that one haha.
Anyway LET’S START! Shall we?
First off : the illustration process
Tumblr media
When I do an illustration I always do a quick draft first, and most of the time, in colors. I think I’m more of a “color” person than a “line” person, I tend to need to see colors quickly in order to see if it’s ok.
For this one, I’ve always had in mind it would be a double illustration, with the older Tai’s silhouette acting as a frame for the children illustration. It was a bit tricky, I had to make the children illustration fit nicely into his silhouette, it was hassle around the neck area, that’s why I made little Taichi stand up haha. Also used Mimi’s hat to balance the picture : the bottom part is very heavy and there’s only sky in the upper part, adding the hat helps making it more balanced.
Tumblr media
The character were the longest and the most challenging part by far. As you can see I had 3 different steps : super rough, they’re almost like stickmen and smiley face, a more detailled one in which I figure out their actual pose and anatomy, then a last one in which I fix some proportion, add details and clean. Fun fact I don’t clean over a new layer... i just erase the unwanted part of my sketch. :’D
Tumblr media
I did a quick pass over the BG after that, then I colored the characters in flat colors before rendering them. It was a back and forth between the BG and the characters to make sure everything was working together nicely.
Tumblr media
Now was the time to render the BG, I did the tramway first, the flower field after. Fun fact, I did my flower field study in order to know how to approach the flowers in this illustration! If your have the time, i totally recommend finding a photograph close to the kind of BG you wanna do, and make a study of it so you can try your hand at it first and go into your own BG later with an idea of how to approach this.
Tumblr media
Adjust colors, add flower petals and butterflies and emotional text, slap over a paper texture, and THERE. You have it! On to the next part now...
The meaningful details and easter eggs
Be aware there will be spoilers for Digimon Adventure 01 (but I assume you already know it), but also for Digimon Adventure : Last evolution Kizuna, which is the conclusion of the first serie. So read at your own risk!
Tumblr media
The tramway is obviously a reference to the end of Digimon Adventure 01. The kids used it to go back to their world, so It was their goodbye to their Digimon at this moment. In Kizuna, Tai and Matt find the tramway trapped in crystal in Menoa’s fake memory world. Hinting that had they been caught by her, their memories would have brought them back here.
Tumblr media
Tailmon has Kari’s whistle! At the end of Digimon Adventure 01, Kari gives it to her as a memento.
Tumblr media
When I drew Sora, I had in mind how she was in Kizuna, very stressed out by her mom’s expectation, which led her to neglect Piyomon. She realized it too late, and after that she refused to fight because she wanted to keep Piyomon with her as long as possible. Tragically, she was the first one to lose her Digimon. Here I tried to convey a softness and a kind of “I won’t forget to appreciate you” vibe in the way she holds Piyomon’s hand. As for Mimi and Palmon, in Digimon adventure 01 Palmon was very emotionally affected by Mimi’s departure, so, a hug was fitting. :’)
Tumblr media
The screens on the Tramway display DA for Digimon Adventure, and also 01.08.1999 which is the date of the children’s journey’s beginning. :)
The little drawings also show the 8 crests.
Tumblr media
There are butterflies flying over the illustration, it’s a reference to Butter-fly, the first Digimon opening, by the late Koji Wada.
"I'll become a happy butterfly, and ride on the glittering wind, I'll come and see you soon. “
Now, let’s the see the counterpart of the illustration. The one with the grown up Tai from Kizuna.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I made him wear the hoodie he had in his very last adventure with Agumon.... but truthfully the reason is that I think hoodies are cool lol. And the hood’s volume gave me more space in the silhouette, which made it easier for me to do the other illustration inside.
Tumblr media
You don’t see it clearly, but he is holding his Digivice, albeit the darkened version once his partner bond with Agumon is broken. The Tai in this illustration has already lost Agumon. (Yes it was painful for me to go fetch the screenshots)
He is also holding his dear signature google he used to wear as a child. Fun fact, I rewatched the older movies, and as a kid he even used to sleep with it, how cute haha.
Tumblr media
Also yes, the crest of Courage over his hand, which is his own. I’m so dumb I realize I should have made the time counter from the movie instead of the crest for a maximum emotional hurt impact.
And the quote is from one of the trailer for Kizuna, I think.....................
But then you go : Oh that illustration is so depressing then! Well. Yes. But no. but yes. But not really.
Tumblr media
One of my favorite shot of the movie is this one : this is after Tai and Agumon learn their time together is limited. Agumon asks him if they will have to go separate ways once Tai is all grown up. Tai doesn’t answer, and takes him to eat something instead, as Agumon was hungry. In this shot Agumon eats to his heart content next to Tai, who’s not eating at all and just watches him fondly. I love that the framing doesnt show agumon. It’s a foreshadowing of their unavoidable separation.
At the very end of the movie, Tai write in his thesis about Human and Digimon’s relationship that Agumon was like a part of himself.
In a way, Agumon symbolizes childhood, the carefree days we would spend as a kid, with our big dreams and hopes. When you grow up, you tend to forget those simple emotions because you get swallowed into the stress of studies, figuring out your carreer, your life path. Just like us, Tai forgot this part of himself. In the madness of growing up, he lost Agumon.
However, it’s not the end. He will pick himself back up. He will move forward in life despite his worries and incertainities, and he will find himself again. Therefore, he will find Agumon again. The kids in the illustration are waving goodbye, but it’s not goodbye, it’s a see you later.  In the meantime, Tai is holding on to these precious memories, until they meet again.

"Have you given any thought to where you want to go?" They asked, phone nestled between their ear and shoulder as they folded the decorative paper around the small white box in front of them, “I was thinking the conservatory would be nice, especially because the corpse flower is supposed to be blooming this year.” Not that the plant sounded very romantic, but they were sure Solomon would want to see something that only bloomed about every seven years. Then again, maybe he’d already seen it during his long life, “Of course, that’s just a suggestion.”
There was an uninterested hum on the other end of the phone, which made their hands stop in realization.
“And then the dragon bit my leg clean off so now I’m bleeding out all over the floor.” It was a fantastic tale, and completely off topic, but they had a purpose for it all, “Good thing there are leeches here to help.”
Another disinterested hum and they knew he wasn’t paying attention.
“Solomon!” They practically shouted over the phone.
“Hm?” He finally seemed to be paying attention to them, “I’m sorry. I was up late last night helping with a ward and I’m still tired. What were we talking about again?”
“Our anniversary,” They said, “I was asking where you want to go so we can plan the day.”
“Oh! I’m sorry, Love. How could I neglect something so important?” He chuckled awkwardly over the speaker before continuing, “We could go back to the Devildom to watch the void raven’s migration.” Even by demon standards, it was both wonderful and terrifying. When that single bird -- as large as a whale-- filled the sky they blocked out even the light of the stars and left everything below in unceasing darkness. When they all moved as one group over the course of a week to reach their mating grounds, it was even more impressive. It was the perfect event to surprise his partner with a trick he’d thought up just for them.
“Is that really coming up?”
“We should be lucky enough to catch the very beginning of it.” It was an event that only took place once every few centuries, but it had a rather predictable pattern.
They would love to see that event with him, but they had to make sure he really understood what he was promising, “You’ll remember right?” They didn’t want to accuse him, but he’d missed quite a few of their dates recently. He was always getting pulled aside for other things and they didn’t want to take that risk for something so rare.
“It’s our anniversary. I promise that I won’t forget.” He knew he’d been struggling with that kind of thing lately, but he’d been working hard to make sure nothing would interfere with the day. This was as important to him as it was to them.
It had been a long time since he’d been close enough to another human to open up. Even longer since he could be completely honest about his work. It had never happened before that he found another person that related to him so thoroughly. No one else but them had ever been able to understand his number of pacts or share pride in their own, been as eager to learn all they could, or each as much of his cooking as they did (how were they supposed to say no when it made him so obviously happy).
He was looking forward to their anniversary as much as they were.
“Alright,” they smiled through the phone and his heart soared, “I’ll see you then, okay? Early in the morning so we make it in time and can still go somewhere nice to eat.” Not that they would tell him where they were planning to go, because they wanted to surprise him.
“I can’t wait.” And he meant it.
But they had the worst feeling in the pit of their stomach. Like a premonition that said the past would repeat itself again, they didn’t feel their hopes being built up. Instead, they readied themselves for a day that their mind didn’t believe would actually happen. Although they really wanted everything to go according to plan, they knew the reality of the situation.
Which is why, when Solomon didn’t show up that morning, they weren’t surprised. It was what they had gotten used to with him. Still, it was disappointing to wait for the inevitable phone call so he could defend himself. What they didn't expect though was how many days it would take for that phone call to finally come.
"I'm sorry, Love." He started with an apology, "There was a bit of an issue with a very aggressive banshee that took longer to deal with than I expected." He could still feel his ears ringing.
"Oh? Sounds rough." It sounded rough in a way they knew was important and they sympathized with, but that they couldn't understand. It made sense though. When he missed their dates, it was always because of some threat.
"It wasn't too bad," he laughed dryly, "I know I'm late, but if you want to go out tomorrow I'm free now. Nothing else should get in the way."
"Actually, about that…" They took a deep breath before speaking into the receiver, “I think we should break up.” They'd thought about it a lot the day he didn't show up.
“What?” Solomon lasked, dumbfounded, “I’m sorry, Love. I didn’t mean to miss the day. I really didn’t. We can still catch the end of the migration and I’ll make up the meal to you some other w-”
“That’s not the point, Solomon.” They bit their lip, feeling the words rise inside of them like bile, “The point is that I wasn’t even disappointed when you didn’t show up. Part of me expected for you to miss it and I was right. I’m not even angry, because I know you missed it for a good reason.”
They wrapped their arms around their shoulders, as if trying to hold themself together and keep from falling to pieces. Even if he couldn’t see them, they needed this, “You do important work, I know that. You shoulder all the responsibility of keeping our realm safe from all of the things that threaten it and I’m so proud of you for it, but… I can’t keep doing this. I can’t keep sitting around, waiting to see if you’re actually going to show up. I would never ask you to stop what you’re doing, but I… I can’t do this anymore.”
His grip tightened on his phone, threatening to shatter it in disbelief, “You’re not serious, are you?”
“I’m sorry.” They say with a solemn tone and he knows they mean every word, “I love you, but this is better for both of us.” No more wondering where he was or what he was doing or if he was safe even as he protected everyone around him, or resignation they would never be his top priority, or feeling selfish for wanting to be, and no more worrying that they were distracting him from something more important, “Goodbye, Solomon.” The words burned their tongue as they spoke and their lips quivered as they held back the tears that longed to break free.
Then, they hung up the phone without another word. They couldn't take the hurt in his voice or the pain inside of them.

Hello do you have any ideas on how Sora would be as a boyfriend? Thanks!
Hi! I do, I have many, many thoughts about our resident ball of sweet sunshine. I really enjoyed writing these while eating my cake: reminded me of just how sweet Sora really is! Hope you enjoy!
Sora as a Boyfriend
Tumblr media
If you’ve decided to choose Sora as your partner then my, my, how lucky you both are!
We all know that Sora is this untameable ball of sunshine that no one really wants to control because he’s so optimistic and fun-loving! He’s happy all day every day, but this mood heightens ten-fold when he gets a partner. Now he has someone he’s allowed to be attached to all the time without being embarrassed, someone to direct all of this unbridled happiness towards.
Fully expect him to be useless with dates because he’s never had this experience before - one of a relationship - so he’ll definitely treat you like his friends but with extra hugs and kisses and stuff! I hope you like the beach because that’s where a lot of your dates together will be with games of frisbee, ball games, picnics, dancing, swimming, and napping. Anything Sora normally does by himself, he now wants to do with you! Of course, there’s also the legend of the Paopu fruit, but I like to imagine he saves that for a special time like just before your first kiss or maybe your first anniversary together.
If everything is safe in the worlds, though, Sora would happily take you anywhere you wanted. He tells you plenty of stories about where he's gone and the sights he's seen, so surely somewhere has to interest you! Want to go dancing? He can take you to Beast Castle and you can explore the ballroom! Want to go somewhere hot and get your sweat on? Agrabah is perfect! Want to go somewhere for a picnic with fields of lavish grass and beautiful flowers? The Kingdom of Corona is calling you both!
Sora might accept the offer to be your boyfriend immediately, but you need to get in with Riku and Kairi before anything can fully go ahead. After everything that has happened, after how many times they’ve been separated, betrayed, and manipulated by new people that waltz into their lives, they absolutely need to make sure you’re someone they can trust. This doesn’t mean they’ll do it directly though…I can 100% see those two being the cartoonish best friends that hang out somewhere else during Sora’s date, newspapers raised over their faces, sunglasses on, and large trench coats, watching like hawks from afar. They just want to keep Sora safe and I’m sure you’ll get on their good side eventually.
Sora’s not looking for anything specific in a relationship or out of his partner, at least looks-wise. That kind of stuff doesn’t matter to Sora! He just needs someone he can have a laugh with during the day, and maybe vent to a little when times get tough or he’s left to stew in his own thoughts overnight. Please tell this boy that he’s strong even without his friends around.
Speaking of late nights, cuddles! Of all kinds if you’re sensitive to being held or touched. This might be full on arm hugs if you can handle them, or just hand hugs: Sora absolutely needs to be physically affectionate with his partner, but he can understand boundaries.
He’s totally the kind of boyfriend that talks about you to all of his friends, regardless of whether they want to hear it or not. Sora doesn’t care, he’s proud of you! It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, whether it’s an improvement in one of your talents, a good joke you told him that made him laugh (when doesn’t he laugh with you?,) or simply the fact that you are alive and woke up today, Sora is so very proud of you and to have you as his and only his partner.
I’m not sure whether he would prefer his partner to be a Keyblade wielder or not. On one hand, he’d love for you to come on adventures with him and to have you in his sight and safe at all times. However, being a Keyblade wielder means always being a target of various types of dangerous enemies and he’d rather you stay home where no one can get to you, but he doesn’t like not being able to see you for long periods of time.
I did mention it before, but I definitely think Sora’s giving love language is Physical Touch. It means a lot to him to feel that people are really there, that people are beside him and not figments of his imagination - it’s happened more times than he can remember. It’s something really special for him after being separated from his friends for sometimes months at a time. As far as receiving goes, he’s fine with any, but he strikes me as the kind of boy that likes receiving really heartfelt gifts. It can be literally anything as long as there was some thought behind it: cake because you know he loves sweets, new gloves to help him fight better, sunglasses and sunscreen because you don’t want him damaging himself after spending so much time at the beach. He loves the attention and the fact that you are paying close attention to little parts of his life he might have ignored. He likes that you want to keep him as safe as he wants to keep you! It makes him feel like your relationship is really secure and that you do really care for him.

See You Tomorrow | Xingqiu x Reader
Hello! Sorry for being inactive, I was a little busy! However, I did manage to get this fic out! I was really excited for it, which is why I partially edited it. Enjoy~
Word count: 1.1k
Side note: 😬 be wary <3

“Hyah!” Xingqiu cried out as his blade sliced through the last of the slimes. A smile formed on his lips as he took deep breaths when he heard clapping behind him.
“That was amazing Xingqiu!” You cheered, waving at him from your spot on the nearby rock. He returned the gesture as he approached you, his sword disappearing and reappearing behind him.
“Thank you, thank you. I’m available all week folks.” He joked, allowing him to hear his favorite sound in the world: your laughter. You hopped up and ran to meet him halfway.
“You’re so talented, Xingqiu! I’m jealous!”
“What for? You're stronger than me,” he commented as you hugged his arm, both of you walking towards Liyue, “you certainly don’t need my protection.”
“Hmm true,” you admitted, “but you’re such a good boyfriend! Finishing up my commissions.”
“Ah, I know. You’ve got me completely wrapped around your finger.” Xingqiu feigned exasperation as he spoke. “Probably this little one.” He said taking your hand and grabbing your pinky.
“Well, whatever shall I do with such a perfect boyfriend?” Xingqiu stopped and gazed into your eyes, signaling an incoming kiss. Both of you leaned it, however he pulled away before your lips could touch.
“Maybe you could appreciate me more.” He teased, making you scoff and smack his arm.
“I do!! I appreciate you more than anyone in this whole world!” His laughter melded with yours so well. Your sounds of happiness echoed in the nearby forest and they were enough to make anyone jealous. You two were so young and in love.
After a few moments of random conversation, Xingqiu looked at you excitedly.
“Are you ready for our date? I hope you haven’t forgotten!”
“How can I? You’ve been talking about it for the last week. It’s my special day and you’re the one who’s so energetic.” You huffed with a little pout.
“Well that’s why I’m so energetic. It’s… your day.” He commented, his golden eyes meeting yours. You smiled softly before leaning in to kiss his cheek. Xingqiu was so thoughtful and caring, you always wondered how you managed to get so lucky. Little did you know, Xingqiu thought and felt the exact same.
***
“Hey, Xingqiu! Heading out already?” Chongyun asked, as he came across his friend. Xingqiu was headed towards your meeting location with two things in his hands. He had a basket of food and drinks in one hand and a bouquet of flowers in the other. Chongyun recognized them as your favorites.
“Yep, don’t want it to get too late. Or keep (y/n) waiting.” Chongyun nodded with a smile, patting his shoulder. Your love really did make everyone jealous. You two were just so perfect for each other.
“Of course! Enjoy yourselves. And don’t stay out too late again.” Xingqiu nodded and quickly went on his way, while Chongyun waved at him. The exorcist watched his friend disappear before ultimately turning around and heading further into the city.
***
“Finally! All done!” Xingqiu exclaimed with a bright smile as he looked down at his work. Right at the edge of the cliff, where you could sit and watch the sunset, he was able to lay down his picnic. He’d set the food up nicely, along with two bottles of your favorite drink. Everything looked perfect and while he was inspecting his handy work, he failed to hear you calling to him.
Xingqiu did eventually catch your fingers in the corner of his eyes, making him gasp. He quickly picked up the bouquet and hid it behind him.
Cheerful as ever, you skipped over to him before hopping up and sitting on a piece of stone. Xingqiu quickly walked up to you, trying his best to contain his excitement- and nerves.
“My sweet, (y/n), I have a present for you! Guess what it is!” You pretended to think before meeting his eyes, as if you’d just figured it out.
“Flowers?”
“Wow! Right on the nose! What kind of flowers?”
“Hmm… they must be (fav flower)! Right?” He nodded again, with a laugh.
“You’re on a roll!” Something crossed Xingqiu’s eyes as he slowly got down on one knee.
Your bright smile melted into a soft one, as you met his gaze. Xingqiu took a deep breath before speaking. His voice wavered as his eyes pooled with tears.
“You know… we’ve been together for a long time. And I never thought this day would come. Honestly, I never thought I would fall in love. Life just seemed to take me somewhere far away from it, yet you found me there anyway. You’re amazing, (y/n). You make the difficult days easy to get through, you make the painful memories easier to handle, and you make the happy days the best I’ve ever experienced. Every time I look into your eyes, I fall in love all over again. It’s the best feeling and I wouldn’t give it up for anything. So… (y/f/n)… will you marry me?” A soft laugh escaped your lips as the words settled in his mind. You took a deep breath to ease your own emotions, not wanting to become a mess in front of him- especially at this very moment.
“Of course I will. I couldn’t imagine my life with anyone but you.” Xingqiu chuckled and sniffled as the tears spilled down his cheeks.
“Too slow.” He commented with a wink as he moved the bouquet towards you. However, instead of handing it to you, he placed it on the stone you sat on.
Here lies (y/f/n), beloved child and partner. One of the best adventures to ever walk Teyvat.
Xingqiu’s shaky hands touched the cold headstone, his fingers brushing against the letters. Why? Why did you have to leave him? How long could he continue like this?
“Don’t cry, Xingqiu.” You mumbled as he shook his head.
“Sometimes I wonder…”
“What?”
“If this is what you looked like.” Your eyes met once more and you could only offer a sympathetic smile.
That’s right, today was the anniversary of your death. Six years ago, you’d left this world. Although Xingqiu had picked up a nasty habit of imagining you, none of his friends had the heart to force him to break it.
After all, this image of you that he had created kept him going. It made it easier to wake up and face the day, it kept him from breaking down every few minutes, and it gave his life purpose. So they went along with it.
Maybe one day, Xingqiu could finally let go of you. But that wasn’t today nor would it be tomorrow.
“See you tomorrow, (n/n).”
“See you tomorrow, Xingqiu.” You smiled and waved as he walked away. He’d left the food and drinks that he’d laid out untouched, just like he did every year prior.

Voicemail/Calls
LadyNoir July 2021 Day 11: Voicemail/Calls
Read on AO3
She hadn’t meant to be late.
Ladybug knew it was the anniversary of their partnership.
1 year of Hawkmoth, Shadowmoth, whatever he was calling himself. 1 year of akuma battles. 1 year of fighting to protect Paris.
1 year of Ladybug’s partnership with Chat Noir.
They had agreed to meet up tonight, to have a night to celebrate fate bringing them together.
And she was late.
Her parents had asked for help during the bakery’s rush, and instead of watching the time, instead of paying attention to the meetup she had been looking forward to, Marinette had let herself be caught up in it all.
Instead of laughing at memories, caught up in eachother’s presence, she had been laughing with her parents, helping customers long past the time her presence was required.
Opening her yo-yo, she checked the time again and flinched. She saw the voicemail notification, but kept running across the rooftops, hoping he was still out there.
Finally their meetup spot was in view, but the sight of it made her heart stop. As she drew closer, Ladybug could see the blown out candles and a forgotten bouquet. The abandoned roof brought her back to a different day, months ago, and she wanted to sob.
She had missed him, missed her chance to see him.
Remembering the notification, Ladybug quickly opened her yo-yo and started the voicemail, hoping she hadn’t completely ruined everything.
“Hey Bugaboo,” the recording started, and she felt her heart squeeze at the nickname. “I was hoping to talk to you in person, but I don’t think that’s happening tonight. I was going to tell you when you got here, but I couldn’t stay long tonight. I have an early morning planned for me. I guess we’ll just miss eachother. I just wanted to thank you. You’re a great partner, if you aren’t always the most punctual,” his chuckle made her want to sob, the guilt blooming in her stomach. “I know we don’t always stand on the same side for how we view each other, but I appreciate that you don’t hold it against me. This has been the happiest year of my life, thanks in no small part to you. Thank you, Ladybug, for being the best partner.”
Trying not to cry at the message, she checked how long ago the recording was sent, seeing it was only from 5 minutes ago. Ladybug hoped it was recorded as he was on this roof, that she might have time to find him.
A voice in the back of her head reminded her that she didn’t know where he’d be going, who he was, but she pushed it aside.
Swinging on her yo-yo was faster than he could run, so she might be able to catch him.
She took off, letting her heart lead her, hoping it would find him.
A few minutes later, she started feeling dejected, and headed back to the original roof. She might have missed out on their night together, but she could clean up all the things he’d set up for them.
She didn’t pay attention to her surroundings, trusting her instinct to get her to where she needed to go.
It took her a moment, after she landed, to realize she wasn’t alone.
“Chat,” she breathed, worried anything else would break the illusion.
He smirked, rubbing the back of his neck. “I was walking home, assuming you had gotten distracted by something. Imagine my surprise when someone stopped and asked me why I wasn’t swinging through rooftops together, why I was here on the ground and you were in the sky.”
Her vision blurred as she raced to him, wrapping her arms around him.
“I’m sorry, I’m so so sorry. My parents needed help and I lost track of time and couldn’t leave and-” Ladybug sobbed, not knowing what else to say.
“Hey, look at me,” Chat Noir coaxed, lifting her chin.
She looked up at him. How had she gotten so lucky, being paired with such a sweet soul, someone so much more forgiving than she deserved?
“You’re here now, and I’m here too, and that’s all that matters.”
Unable to respond, she squeezed her arms tighter.
Sooner than she wanted, she remembered why he had left. Stepping back, she tilted herhead, confused. “What about you needing to leave early? The thing you needed to do?”
“Getting to see you tonight is more important than getting enough sleep before an early morning.”
“Chat, you don’t have to sacrifice sleep for me,” Ladybug sighed. “Sleep is important. It’s important to be healthy.”
Chat threw his head back to laugh. “M’lady, I think one night of reduced sleep is worth getting to spend time with you.”
Frowning, she stepped back further, looking for her bag she had brought. “Well, as long as you’re here, I might have something for you.”
“Oh no, we’re going to do this right. Close your eyes for a moment.”
Ladybug glared at him for a moment, before she complied. She tried not to think about how achingly familiar it all was.
“Alright,” a voice whispered close to her ear, making her shiver. “Open them.”
“Chat doesn’t this all feel unnecess-” she stopped as her eyes opened. The candles lit around her, illuminating the rooftop, it was breathtaking. She turned to look at him. “Chat, you shouldn’t ha-”
Her breath caught as she saw him, the sheepish grin as he held out the bouquet. “For you, M’lady,” he whispered.
His greens eyes glowed in the candlelight, and it was all she could do to not throw herself into his arms. ‘Again,’ a voice suspiciously like Tikki reminded her.
She was caught in his gaze, frozen by his smile, as that thought floated away in the wind.
Chat chuckled, pulling the flowers back to him. “I didn’t mean to overdo it,” he started. “I just wanted you to know how important you are to me, how much this past year has meant to me.”
She snapped back to reality and took a step towards him. Taking the bouquet from him, she sniffed them. “Chat, they’re lovely. Really, you didn’t need to do any of this for me, but thank you.” Ladybug smiled at him.
“I wanted to make sure you had everything you wanted. You deserve it.” He pushed a stray piece of hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear. It took everything in her to try not to close her eyes and lean into his hand, but it wasn’t enough as her head turned and her eyes fluttered.
He stilled, watching her, savoring the moment.
Too soon, they remembered where they were and each took a step back.
“So,” Ladybug said, as she tried to move on. “Would you like to see what I brought?”
A grin nearly split Chat’s face as his eyes widened. “You brought something for me?” He whispered, unbelieving.
“Of course, kitty. You’re one of my best friends. I had to make you something for our anniversary.” Ladybug turned, busying herself with opening her bag, but not before she saw the tears in his eyes.
Not for the first time, she wondered about his home life. Ladybug hoped he was loved, wished he had someone the way she had her parents. He deserved it.
Pulling out two packages, she stood up, trying not to laugh at his eager expression.
“Here,” she said, offering him the smaller gift. “Open this one first.”
Gently, he pulled apart the wrapped, and revealed a knit black beanie. The yarn had flecks of neon green, and she knew the ribbed brim hid a small green paw print. Chat practically cradled it in his hands.
“You made this?” Chat asked, not looking away.
“Yeah, I knit it. I was going to add cat ears but I was worried that might reveal who you were if I saw it.” She shrugged, watching as he ran his thumb over the stitches. She reached out slowly, pulling back the brim to show him the hidden detail. “This, at least, makes it special, so it should probably stay hidden.”
“I love it,” he whispered, pulling it onto his head, over his own cat ears.
She smiled at his enthusiasm. “Now this,” she said as she handed his second gift, “is more likely for me to figure out who you are, so be careful where you wear it.”
He opened this one faster, excited to see what was inside.
He pulled out a black long sleeve shirt, first looking at the back. Embroidered there was the word ‘clawsome’ in green thread.
He turned it around to reveal the front, a paw in the same green thread, the shape the same as the counter on his miraculous ring.
In the bottom, near where his hip would be, she had embroidered a small ladybug shell.
She had to leave her signature somewhere.
She reached down to get one final surprise, the real reason she had gone down to the bakery earlier. Pulling out a box, she extended it towards her partner.
“Since you’re so sweet, I brought you some treats to enjoy,” Ladybug shyly smiled as Chat beamed.
Pushing past her outstretched arm, Chat picked her up off the ground as he hugged her. “Why M’lady, if I didn’t know any better I’d say you were sweet on me.”
They sat down together to enjoy the dessert she had brought. It was a comfortable silence as they were each lost in memories of their year. Too soon, Ladybug looked at the time.
“Chat, as much as I’d like to spend all night sharing these treats with you, I think it’s time for it to end.” Turning to look at him, she saw the sadness in his eyes. “We can see each other again during patrol this week. But you,” she paused, flicking his nose, “you need to go home and get some rest.”
He sighed, but they got up.
He handed her back the box and they cleaned up. Finally, he headed towards the edge of the roof, pulling out his baton, and then stopped.
“I mean it,” he said, looking at her. “Thank you. Thank you for the happiest year of my life. Thank you for being here, by my side, through all of this.”
She smiled, trying to blink away tears, feelings, as she looked at him.
“You’re welcome, Chaton. Thank you for this year. I wouldn’t have been able to do it without you by my side.”
He grinned before turning and jumping off the roof, baton already extending underneath him.

Sundays With Sammy
William Moseley x Reader | Request: William Moseley and the reader are together since they both played in Narnia and are doing an interview together. Word count: 1,089 A/N: I don’t typically write for real people, so I hope this is alright. Enjoy!
I smoothed down my shirt and adjusted my microphone, watching the interviewer announce us. “And today on Sundays with Sammy, we have William Moseley and Y/N L/N!” I heard the audience clapping and I stepped out with William, hand in hand. We waved at the small crowd of people and took a seat on the small, white couch as the clapping died down. “Wow, thanks so much for being here with us today, guys!” “Thanks for having us, Sammy!” I said. “Anytime. Now let’s just jump right in. Word has it you two are working on a new project. Can we get a sneak peak?”
William chuckled and leaned forward to answer. “Well, we have a new film in the works. Y/N and I recently traveled to Scotland.” William stopped and I picked up. “We did! It was beautiful. The film actually takes place there.”
Sammy nodded. “And can you tell us a little bit about the film?”
I smiled. “Sure! It’s an action movie which was a little out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to try something different.” William spoke next. “Yeah, it’s really interesting. The director was great, she was so passionate about the film. She’s worked with several other actors, Natalie Portman, Matt Dillon, and the like. It was an action movie, but it was also a bit different so it felt really good to work on something so unique. I think it’s gonna be a great movie.”
Sammy smiled. “That’s great! But, this is not the first film you guys have worked on together, correct?”
I smiled, knowing exactly where this was going. “No, it isn’t.” I said.
“You two worked on the Narnia films together. Actually, that’s where you met, right?”
William nodded, a faint blush appearing on his cheeks. “Yes, we were much younger then.”
Sammy laughed. “It’s crazy that today these films are still so widely talked about, even 15 years later. How does it feel knowing that you were a part of that?”
William answered the question first. “Well, it was my first time on a film set. I remember working on homework in between takes. Acting is something I’ve always loved, even then. I’m truly glad I had the opportunity to work on those movies. I grew up with the Narnia stories. I used to have all the books and I would listen to them before bed.” I smiled and held his hand a little tighter as I spoke. “I was the same way. The Narnia stories were part of my childhood. I remember my Mom reading those stories to me when I was young. So, to be a part of making those movies, being a part of that world was such an incredible and rewarding experience.”
William listened attentively as I spoke and responded to my words easily. “It was a really cool world to be in. Birds that talked. Giants. Snakes in a cave. It was different from other stories I’d heard. There was an energy in it that I liked. Plus, we made some amazing friends that I’m still close with to this day.”
“Some closer than others?” Sammy asked.
I blushed and William placed our intertwined hands into his lap. “Well, it’s no secret that Y/N and I are together.”
I watched as Sammy leaned back in his seat. “Of course. You two make a beautiful couple, by the way.”
William laughed and I smiled, nudging my shoulder against his.
“But, can you tell us how you two first got together? I mean, you practically grew up together. When did the sparks first ignite?” Sammy asked us.
I looked at William and he looked at me, nodding for me to speak. “Well, when we were filming that first movie I actually had a bit of a crush on him. I was so nervous around him I could hardly speak unless we were filming.”
William started to laugh and I looked at him. “It was so bad. I actually thought Y/N hated me because they rarely spoke to me.” “I was shy!” I interjected.
The audience laughed and I laughed with them as William continued to tell our story. “The second movie was better. We actually became pretty good friends, but we sort of lost touch after filming ended.” He explained. I nodded and jumped in. “I was trying to focus on school between films and it was a fairly busy time.”
William spoke again. “But, when I filmed my cameo for the third movie we ran into each other. I asked Y/N out for coffee and the rest is history.” I smiled mischievously. “Well…” William groaned playfully. “No, please don’t.”
Sammy leaned forward. “What is it?”
“When we first started hanging out again, he never officially asked me to be his partner. So, I wasn’t sure if I was or not. Then, a few months in, he brought me flowers for our anniversary. I was so confused. I asked him exactly when he’d asked me to be his partner and watched as he realized that he never asked.” I said, laughing as I retold the story. William leaned toward me and finished the story. “So, now we have two anniversaries. One for the first time I asked them for coffee and one for when we became official.”
“Awww, that’s so sweet! Well, we’re about out of time so how about one last question.” Sammy said.
William and I both nodded and waited for Sammy’s question. “Would you two ever consider doing another Narnia movie if they did a revival?” I thought for a moment before saying my answer and I could see William doing the same. I answered first, my eyes staying on William instead of Sammy. “Absolutely. I owe a lot to those films and everyone that worked on them. They gave me my first acting job, a fantastic childhood, and helped me find my true love.” William smiled and I could see the love and adoration in his eyes. “How could I say no to another Narnia movie?”
Sammy smiled and stood. “Alright, you heard it here folks. Thanks so much for coming. Give it up one last time for William Moseley and Y/N L/N!” The audience applauded once more and we waved as we exited the stage. As soon as we were backstage, I removed my microphone and pulled William in for a kiss. “I love you.” He smiled at me and I still felt butterflies in my stomach. “I love you too.”

Cold.
The word that describes the current state of your relationship with Eddie. He sat across from you in your bedroom, his shoulders hung as he slouched in the chair. Your foot tapping against the floor was the only continuous noise echoing through the room, ever so often Eddie glanced at you before directing his attention back to your tapping foot.
Today was supposed to be a nice day, sunny and hot in El Paso, as were most days but not today. Today was gloomy, grey and raining. The wind that blew through the cracked window was cold -cold enough to cause goosebumps. The words that were spoken lingered in the room although nothing was being said.
“I think I should go” he pipes up, his voice quiet and soft, as if he spoke louder he would break you more than he already had.
“Okay” a whisper left your throat, barely.
Eddie pushed himself up out of the chair and headed towards your door. He stepped out, looking back at you now laying on your bed, staring up at the ceiling.
“I-”
Silence.
He sighed, shutting the door. His steps quieter as each went. His voice back to normal as he said goodnight to your parents. The tear rolled down your face, the back of your hand wiping it away when you stand. Eddie stood out in the rain in front of your house, you watched as he looked at your bedroom window. He stood there for a moment and you opened the window. He waited - waited for you to shout for him to come back into the house, for you to do something, anything.
You didn’t.
Shoulder slumped and now rain soaked, he turned and walked the other way.
How did you end up here? Never did you expect him to leave. He was always the constant in your life, there through the good and the bad, as you were for him but something changed. People change and people drift apart. Some things things were just meant to happen the way they happened.
----
Last you heard, Eddie had moved after his wife left. You had seen him at the store and he saw you too. An awkward moment of eye contact was had and you both went your separate ways. His mother was the one that had told you about his move, she kept up with you even after the falling out. She always stopped and spoke to you if she saw you, still sent you flowers for your birthday until this day. She had really started telling you that Shannon had left to take care of her mother, but of course, Eddie was an angel in their eyes so Shannon was left to take all the blame.
Not that you knew Shannon personally nor did you know the ins and outs of her relationship with Eddie but you had heard enough from friends to know that things weren't good. She had commitments, one to take care of her mother and of course, she had one to take care of sweet Christoper but you could understand why she left. It’s hard raising a child when your partner is gone and when he returns, he’s just there with no sense of what’s happening. You would never blame Eddie but you couldn’t exactly blame Shannon either.
So as anyone would, you went to see Eddie’s mom before you left for LA. there was nothing left for you in El Paso, most of your family had moved. You didn’t want to stay there by yourself with all the memories of your past.
It was time for a fresh start.
Imagine your surprise when Mrs. Diaz goes “that’s where Eddie is too!” She had known the two of you stopped talking but she didn’t know why. Neither of you spoke about your feelings and that was part of the reason why the friendship ended to begin with. She told you he had become a firefighter when he moved, he had just gotten a job at station 118.
Something you loved about her, she always told you what you wanted to hear without asking.
She wished you good luck and promised to visit you when she and Ramon came out to see Eddie and with that, you were off.
The entire time, your mind wandered back to Eddie. Surely, he had moved on. He did with Shannon, you couldn’t have given him what he wanted. Stability, a marriage sometime in the near future, a child after that, all things you weren't ready for at that point in your life. Truthfully, you still weren't sure if you were ready now, but maybe and only maybe, would you consider it for the right person.
LA was new and fresh, a clean stale for you to try things and meet people. Right now you were just focused on getting settled in with the new place and the new job. Lauren, the woman whose desk was next to yours asked you to join her and some of the others for drinks after work to celebrate the account the team had gotten earlier. Being new to town and all, you had no other plans so you agreed.
9:30 on a Tuesday night and you were at a bar not far from your workplace.
Lauren and Matt, who you now realized was her boyfriend, were telling everyone about this new fancy restaurant they went to for their anniversary. You smiled and nodded, but truly you were zoned out. Eyes wandered through the bar, from groups much like yours, to couples, some men and women sat at the counter and then a group of people by the pool table. You watched as a shorter man with black hair hit the ball into the pocket, another man, this one blonde and tall, patted his back and then took his turn. Your focus was on them until Lauren called your name.
“Y/n?”
“Hm?”
“What do you think about that ?”
“About what ? Sorry, I missed what you said” smiling apologetically at her.
“The restaurant, isn't that crazy ?”
“Yeah it totally is” Lauren hums at your response and carries on with her conversation. Gaze drifting back to the pool table at the other end of the bar, you excuse yourself from the group for a moment. You watch the blonde man miss yet another shot as you walk towards the bathroom. Not that you needed to go, you just wanted to have a better view of the game. Your back was up against the wall, the man with the black hair hit another ball into the pocket and surprise surprise, the blonde man missed again.
“He's totally kicking your ass” stepping forward, your hands resting on the edge of the table. The blonde man looked offended while his friend laughed.
“I am, aren't I ?” he asked you, smiling in amusement.
You nodded, he introduced himself. “I’m Howard, but you can call me Chimney. My friend here is Buck.”
“Chimney ?” your brows raise, he shakes his head, “long story.”
“You are ?” Buck asks, “y/n” you smile.
“Okay, y/n. Think you can do better than me?” he asks, holding the stick out for you. Smiling, you take it, “definitely can do better than that” as you lean over the table, Buck steps to the side and watches as you line the shot up. One hit and the ball rolls into the pocket.
“Yeah, she’s got you beat Buckaroo” Chimney laughs, “Buckaroo ? How cute” you smile, Buck rolls his eyes.
“Don’t listen to him” he says, nodding to Chimney. “Your go man”
Buck lets you take his turn for him, Chimney missed the first one but gets the second one in. Just as you lean to line the stick with the ball, you hear him. His voice still brings chills to your spine. He hadn’t noticed you yet, you can hear him talking to Buck, you glance up ever so slightly to make sure you heard right.
What are the odds that the two of you lived in the same place your entire lives and never run into each other but not even 2 weeks into your move to LA and you see him?
Pushing the feeling and thoughts of Eddie from your mind, which wasn't the easiest considering he's right in front of you, you hit the ball and it rolls into the pocket.
“Good shot y/n!” Buck calls from his chair. You wince, hoping Eddie wouldn't look back but he did. The two of you looking at each other like you were the only people in the room. All the feelings from that day returned, the heavy tension weighing you down. Eddie’s reaction made you want to run, far and to never return, to somewhere you’d never see him. Yet, you were stuck, froze and fixated on him.
“I think I should go.” you hand the stick to Chimney who’s now exchanging confused glances with Buck. “It was nice to meet you guys. Enjoy your game.” you smile at the two men, one last glance at Eddie before walking away. You say goodnight to your friends from work and apologize for just disappearing on them. Lauren and Matt offer to give you a ride as you came with them but you decided you’d walk.
----
Eddie follows his morning routine per usual. Up at 7, wake Chris up, breakfast, shower and get ready, out the door by 8:15 the latest, drop Chris off at school for 8:30 and at work by 9.
As soon as his bag hits the floor, Buck comes running in, Chim hot on his tail. “Good morning” Buck smiles at his best friend, taking a seat on the bench across from Eddie’s locker. “Morning Eddie, how’d you sleep ?” Chim asks, Eddie turns and looks at Chimney, “how did I what ?” Eddie’s face twisted into his typical scowl.
“Sleep, how did you sleep ? Friends ask that don't they Buck ?” Chim faces Buck, his back against the wall across from the lockers. Buck nods but Eddie ignores them, he goes back to changing for work. The room is quiet except for Eddie’s tumbling through his bag and locker and Chimney throwing a tennis ball at the wall across from him and catching it. Buck being Buck, decided to ask the question they had actually gone in there to ask.
“So why did our new friend just up and leave after you showed up?”
Eddie didn't answer, Chimney kept bouncing the ball and Buck asked the same question over and over again in different variations, hoping to get an answer. Finally Eddie turns to face them, the locker door slamming shut. Buck and Chimney’s heads perking up at the sound.
“What do you want to know ?” Eddie asks, Buck opens his mouth but Eddie cuts him off. “You can only ask one question each. That's it” the two men nod, Chim joining Buck on the bench. “Do you guys know each other from your past life or something ?” Buck asks the first question.
“She was an old friend.” Eddie’s simple answer didn’t satisfy the curiosity that Buck and Chimney had.
“What happened between you two ?” Chimney used his question, earning him a sigh from Eddie.
A loss for words wasn't a common thing for Eddie, sure he didn’t confront every problem verbally, that was usually the last option he chose but he looked for the simplest terms to put what happened.
“We drifted apart”
“Oh c’mon! There has to be more!” Buck looks up at his friend who was in no mood for questions, the look on his face was enough to get Buck to stop but did he ? Of course not.
“Eddie, come on. It's us. You can tell us what happened”
“What I say here, ends here. Understand ?” his friends nod. Eddie sits on the bench beside them.
“We were friends back in El Paso. Grew up together our whole lives, everyone thought that we'd get married,” he chuckled at the thought, “but obviously, didn’t happen. It was right after we had graduated, we had feelings for each other but neither of us said anythi- well that’s not true. We admitted that we had feelings once but nothing ever happened. She went off to college and I was still figuring out my life. After I told her I enlisted, we drifted. Hung out less, the calls became shorter and eventually they stopped. The only time we saw each other was if one of us showed up at the other’s place. I told her that I couldn’t have a relationship like this, with nothing happening. I wanted a life together, to get married, to have a kid and she said she didn’t want that, she ‘couldn't give that to me.’ We stopped talking after that. I left and when I came back, I met Shannon, we got married and had Chris.”
“So that’s that. Anyone want a smoothie ?” He stands and waits for an answer, both men shake their heads and he walks out like he hadn’t just told them all of that. Buck and Chim sat there, staring at Eddie walking away. He had this great romance and it ended because they had shitty communication skills ? There was no way Buck and Chim would let this slide, they’d hatch a plan but one that Eddie would know nothing about. Only to figure out how they can get the two of them together in one place.
---
A routine fire drill for an office building was a normal day for the 118. Bobby coordinated with the team from outside. Hen, Chim and Buck all inside the building, they went through various floors checking to make sure they were clear while Eddie was in the lobby.
This was their first shift back after their 24 hour shift as was it the first shift back since the Eddie “I had a friend that I loved but did nothing” bomb was dropped. The team took their sweet time clearing the building, they were supposed to be in and out as fast as they can be because they were supposed to be acting like it was a real fire.
You on the other hand, were now arriving to work. You had a check in with your doctor and called in to say you’d be late. You find your way through the crowd outside of the building and spot Lauren by a corner.
“Hey!” she smiles, you smile back at her. “What’s going on?” you ask her, turning to look at the crowd forming by the door. “Fire drill” she informs you, nodding towards the 2 big red firetrucks parked in front of the building. You hum, the side of the truck had big white numbers that said 118. Why did that feel so familiar to you ?
“He works at station 118 now” Eddie’s mother’s words ringing in your head.
No no no no no, not again. God I hope he isn't working today.
Everyone reenters the building and there he was again. You couldn’t help but look at him. He had grown since you saw him that day at the store, you didn’t know what you were expecting. He stood there, his coat undone and his helmet in his hand, his typically well kept hair was wavy and messy from the helmet. He looked cute, but you wouldn't dare to tell him that. Not then, not now. You look away before he sees you. Making your way up the stairs, you were searching through your bag for your phone when you bumped into someone. Their hands on your arms, “sorry about that” you mumble before looking up.
Buck smiled at you, “it’s okay. I didn’t know you worked here”
“Yeah, started a few weeks ago”
“Hey, why don't you come out with us tonight ? Chimney will be there and my sister Maddie, plus Hen and her wife are coming. She works with us, you’ll really like her” Buck gave you a smile, his eyes pleading for you to join them. He didn’t mention Eddie but you’re sure he would be there. Oh what the hell, you co-existed in El Paso for years, you had the same friends there too, what difference did it make here?
“You know what, sure. Where and when ?”
Buck reached into his pocket for his phone, giving it to you. “I’ll text you the details” you type your number into Buck’s phone. HIs radio went off, someone was looking for Buckley which you assumed was him and it was, he shouted that he’d text you as he ran off down the hallway. Chuckling at the man, you wondered how someone as joyful and sweet as him stayed so joyful and sweet doing a job like his. Surely, he had seen some messed up stuff, there was no way he didn’t. Nothing thinking much into it, you head into work for the day.
----
Buck didn’t take long to text you a name of a restaurant and a time, he also told you to ask for Buckley when you arrived. Work kind of flies by when you have something to do, soon enough you were at home getting ready. The place was 20 minutes from your place, you arrived on time surprisingly. The man at the front smiled at you and led you into the restaurant when you gave him the name. Just as you were walking in, your phone chimed.
From Buck: Okay don't be mad but Hen and Karen can’t make it. Chimney and Maddie are having a date night in and I’m sitting on my couch but have fun
From Buck: But drinks tomorrow I promise, if you’re not mad at me :)
Did he send you here to have dinner by yourself ?
When you looked up, the man had just stopped in front of a table, had you not looked up you would have walked into him. Eddie sat at a table for 2, you look at him and he looks at you. The man excused himself as the two of you are looking at each other like you’re the only people in the place once again.
“Buck ?” you ask him
“Buck.” he answers, you hum.
You pause for a moment. “Well, I can leave. We don't have to st-” “no please, sit” Eddie says, your brows furrow before you sit across from him.
“I didn’t-” “When did-” the sentences cut off each other. Gesturing to him, “you first” your attention on the man in front of you. He takes a sip of water before speaking. “I didn’t know you moved to LA” he says, you hum. “I didn’t know you moved either.”
“Yeah after Shannon-”
“Left. Yeah, your mom told me.”
“How did Buck get you here?” Eddie looks over at you. “Bumped into me during the fire drill. He asked me to come out with the team tonight, to meet them.”
“He told me that he wanted to get dinner and help me plan Christopher’s birthday party”
“Chris has probably gotten so big”
“Yeah, he did” Eddie pulls his phone out to show you a picture. Eddie and Christopher sat on the couch next to Eddie’s grandmother.
“Awe, he’s grown so much. How’s your Abuela ?”
“She's good, she's been helping me out with Christoper since I moved here.”
Your eyes drifting back to the phone that sat on the table, it seemed like a recent photo. The cake on the table read “happy birthday” and Christoper’s arms are wrapped around Eddie’s waist. Chris is laughing with frosting on his cheek while Abuela feeds Eddie a piece of cake. The picture was from Eddie’s birthday, it was from last weekend.
“oh my god, it slipped my mind.” you look at him, Eddie’s brows furrowed and his head tilts slightly. “What’s wrong ?” he sounded concerned.
“Happy birthday Eddie” smiling at your friend- if you could even call him that. Eddie returns the smile. “Thank you”
The waiter returns to the table, asking if you were ready to order. Eddie looks at you, unsure what to say to the waiter. You speak up, “No thank you, I think we’re going to get going.”
“Is there any way we could get you to stay ?” the waiter asks, you smile politely and shake your head. “Thank you but the babysitter called, our son isn't feeling too well so we’re going to head home” now smiling sweetly at the waiter, he nods and leaves. Eddie’s eyes are on you, you could feel them on your from the moment you say “our son”
Getting up, picking up your purse. “It was nice seeing you Eddie”
“Wait! Let me walk you out” he gets up from his seat, he follows you as you make your way through the tables and out of the restaurant.
“No thanks, I’m more than capable of walking myself out” you say with a hint of annoyance in your voice. You’re out on the street walking towards the direction of your car when you feel a hand wrap around your wrist tugging you back slightly.
“I know you’re capable, but please. It’s the least I can do” he gives you a pathetic look, a small pout on his face.
“God, stop it. You know I hate that stupid face” pulling your hand away, you continue towards your car. “What face?” he shouts, jogging behind you as he follows you to your car.
“That stupid pout of yours. It always got me to give in” turning around, you hadn't realized how close behind you Eddie was. His chest against yours, his hand on your waist instinctively when you bump into him. Eddie had no clue what you were talking about, a pout ? He had never pouted a day in his life. Clearing his throat, he relaxed his face as best as he could.
“Can we talk, please ?” you shake your head, moving his hand from your hip. “Eddie, what more is there to say ?”
“I love you.”
The 3 words you had been dying to hear since freshman year of high school. The 3 words that would have been the glue to hold your relationship together all those years ago.
“Eddie, what-” you breathe. You were at a loss for words. Why now? Why not all those years ago?
“I know” he takes a step back.
“Why now? Is it because you already got married ? Because you have Chris ? Because you don’t need me to give you those things, you just- why ?”
“Y/n, it was never about those things with you.” he reaches for your hand, you pull away.
“But it was. It always was about the future we would have built together. You wanted to get married, you wanted to have children and I didn’t. I wasn’t ready. I still don't know if I am. So please, if you’re just going to leave again, go now before I fall in love with you again.” admitting your feelings to him in the middle of the street.
“I got married, I have a kid - and you’re right. I don't feel the need to do those again because I already have. It doesn’t mean I stopped loving you. It doesn't mean a day hasn't passed by that I didn’t think about you or that I didn’t want to call you.” he sighs, his heart on his sleeve. Eddie wasn’t only one to talk about his feelings, ever. It meant a lot to both of you that you had your feelings out in the open.
Eddie’s hands grabbed your waist, your body pressed against his. “Eddie, please don’t. I can’t do this. We’ve both moved on-” his hand cradled your face,  his lips on yours ended your sentence.
Your heart pounded in your chest, you could only focus on how Eddie’s lips felt against yours. You had been dreaming for another moment like this since he left you that day in your bedroom, it felt as if time stopped and it was only the two of you while the world melted away.
Eddie’s eyes had ever so slightly opened, taking the beautiful women in front of him. Taking in the moment just to make sure he wasn’t imagining what he had dreamt of and for the first time in all those years, he didn’t feel sad when he thought of you, he saw the one he had been waiting for.
“Ed-” “Y/n, I love you.”
“Eddie I-”
“No, it’s you. It's always been you.”
“Oh my god, Edmundo! Shut up, I'm trying to tell you something” you groan, Eddie bites back a smile.
“What is it?”
“I love you too.”

Yeah I got lazy, but happy ending :) Just assume they worked things out and are happy now :)

Everything was perfect. You were wearing your fanciest dress, the one with an open back and your most extravagant low-cut neckline, a prohibitively expensive red lipstick your lover had bought you for your birthday of which the color matched your outfit, and heels you knew you could not spend the entire night in. As pretty as they looked, they clearly were the opposite of comfy. Still it was your favorite pair. You had taken a few hours to get prepared, from plucking your brows to shaving your legs, from stylizing your hair to putting on some perfume. Everything was perfect except for one little detail that changed everything. Javier was late. Again. So, no, everything wasn’t perfect. You were perfect, and he, he was ruining everything. Again. Yet, you were still waiting for him, embarrassed and frustrated.
You hated how he made every situation about himself though it originally wasn’t. You hated how he cared so little about your needs, desires and obligations that he didn’t even make the effort to arrive on time. Not even to please you, just to be a good boyfriend, a decent lover and life partner. But this wasn’t even about you either. It was about your family, your parents that were waiting for you both, not only to grab a simple lovely dinner, but to celebrate their pearl anniversary. 30. 30 years of marriage, and you, you couldn’t even get a linear relationship with the boy you loved the most.
Fuck, how many times had you asked him to pay attention to you, and he swore he’d listened but kept doing the mistakes again and again ? How many times had you broken up, only for him to plead you to get him back ? And how many times had it been the same with switched roles ? How many times had you tried without ever succeeding ? One more time, it seemed.
But this wasn’t just the preparation of a coming storm. Your exasperated sighs breaking the silence of the room, your fingertips rhythmically hitting the wooden table with impatience, it was more. At least you wanted it to be more. You wanted it to be the final act, the last time you’d be waiting for him, for his head to become conscious of all the harm he’d done to you these past couple of years. You wanted it to be more, because you wanted more from him.
You got up the chair you were sitting in, going to the phone and immediately dialed his office number. But he never picked up, you were left with incessant dial-tone. You hung up with rage starting to boil inside your veins, and after 3 deep breathing, you composed your dad’s number to ask if he could come pick you up.
You had almost forgotten about Javier when he finally ringed at your parent’s doorbell. “Uncle Javi !” Screamed your niece when she saw him entering the room, stopping the dance show she was giving you all only to run to his arms.
Javier chuckled, lifting the little girl up in the air and spinning around to amuse her before putting her back on the ground. His smile was wide when he greeted your family with a wave. “M’sorry to be late, got caught up at work.” Of course he did.
He kissed your mom’s cheek and shook your dad’s hand, wishing them both a happy anniversary before sitting beside you. “Hey.” He unconsciously put his hand on your thigh, stroking your clothed skin with his thumb. “You look stunning.” You didn’t care. Not one bit.
“You promised.” Javier’s brows furrowed at the words. “You told me you wouldn’t be late.” Your words sounded cold but you in fact felt really hot. You took your glass of champagne to take a sip, not even minding glancing at him just once. You’d had preferred him to stay home, you didn’t want to have another fight, especially not here, not now, but you didn’t want either to act as if everything was fine. Because it was not, and it hadn’t been for the last couple of years.
“I had work to do.” He repeated himself, to which you just hummed. Same melody, same lyrics. You grew more and more tired of it. “I promise I will make it up to you.” You would have seen how genuine his eyes looked if you had turned to him, but the intention was far from you. You knew the second your eyes would land on him you’d weaken, and you wanted to that to happen the latest possible.
You almost chocked on your drink, a sour laugh falling from your mouth. “Yet again an unkept promise.”
He sighed. “I think we should talk.”
He thought you should talk ? Wow, what a genius.
You immediately stood up and he followed you to the backyard. “I’m sorry.” He didn’t give silence any time to shine. “We caught a big one today, I couldn’t just leave.” You stopped by a tree, your bare back hitting its bark. “I can’t do what I want, plus it was a big opportunity !” The excitement in his voice only broke you even more. You were happy for him, you really were, but you couldn’t handle being alone anymore, and realizing you had nothing to do together. You simply weren’t made for each other, and it hurt deep. “Remember the guy who got arrested at the airport ? He’s a big one, he works for some Colombian cartel, it’s not just US anymore, we got our hands on-”
“Kiss me.” You cut him off out of nowhere. There he finally was, the silence. Javier frowned, not used to this. Usually you would have had said that it didn’t matter, screamed that you were as important as his work, yelled that you hated him. But you kept calm, and that scared him more than all the fights you both had entered into during your 2 years on and off relationship.
“What ?”
“Kiss me.” You repeated, grabbing his collar to pull him closer.
Javier couldn’t perceive any emotion in your tone, but still as frighten as it made him, he did so.
When he woke up the next morning, you were not in bed, not even in the house, and all the stuff you had left there even for months had disappeared. The only thing to be yours he found out was your spare key on the dining table.
He had tried to call you, had knocked at your door for days, but you never answered. So he just gave up, and a month past without any word from you. Javier felt miserable to say the least. You had never remained silent for so long, and leaving himself with his own thoughts finally made him understand. You deserved better. You deserved a man that would put you first, someone that could satisfy your smallest and stupidest desires, who could leave for 2 whole days without making you panic over the fact of if he will make it alive or not. You deserved someone who could love you and prove it. And he could never be that man.
“She misses you, you know.” Javier frowned at his dad.
“What ? How-”
“She came to see me, helped me planting some flowers.” Javier sighed. He knew just how much you loved gardening with his father, always happy to give him a hand. “She cried.” And right there, Javi’s heart twitched in his ribcage. He felt sick knowing he did this to you and it was far from the first time. “You should call her.”
The agent pinched his lips. “No, she needs to learn to live without me. It’s for her best. We both know that.”
His dad shrugged. “Ya know what they say. The heart wants what it wants.”
But Javier couldn’t keep torturing her. That’s why he chose the more pragmatic solution.
After a month and a half of radio silence, Javi knocked at your door one last time, and he was glad you finally answered him. But the smile you were wearing only made him feel even more guilty. Maybe he shouldn’t have minded coming.
“I’m leaving.” He wasted no time saying. He didn’t want to beat around the bush, not anymore.
“What ?” Your lips had fallen to a pout.
“I’m going to Colombia. For the DEA. I-”
“How long ?” He could see just how broken you were, because there was no light in your eyes, and they felt as cold as his heart.
“Months, years. Dunno.”
You felt sick, as if you were going to puke right on his shoes. “You’re kidding, right ?”
When he saw just how wet your eyes had become, Javier took a step forward and put his hands on your hips. It worsened it, and the tears started falling on your cheeks. A feeling of disgust fulfilled Javi’s soul knowing he was the monster of the story. He had always been. Your worst lover and best nemesis. Impossible scheme.
“My love, listen.”
“No !” You almost screamed, but your voice was muffled as you didn’t want to totally break in a cry. “You were supposed to come back to tell me you loved me, that you’re only happy when we’re together. That’s how we work, that is how we do it !”
“I’m sorry.” His voice sounded even more broken than your heart. His whole world had shattered into pieces when he had accepted the job, knowing exactly what it would imply for the both of you, and he was desolated to make you go through the same pain. But it would be the last one, and it was all that mattered.
“I hate you.” You loved him. Though you loved him so much it hurt and you confused both feelings. Or was it just combined in one ?
“I know.” And with those last words, Javi slipped an arm behind your back and put his head on your shoulder so you would not see his own tears hurtling down his skin. Despair. That was what had pushed him taking the job, that was what was supposed to save your life from misery.
“I hope you never come back.” You muttered.
Javier froze. Still he understood your statement, but the way you said it was full of disdain, bitterness and disgust. It comforted him, in some way. He had made the right choice.

Rosy Proposal
Pairing: Bucky x reader
Word count: 1505
Prompt: “One rose for every day I should have been with you.”
Written for @kitkatd7’s writing challenge! Congrats on 250!
You stood in the kitchen, humming to yourself as you skillfully flipped your pancakes. Off days were just the best, you had so much time to yourself and you could do anything you wanted.
The bowl of batter was soon empty and as you removed the pan from the stove, you caught sight of the calendar pinned to the fridge with a colorful Eiffel Tower magnet and you froze. August already?
You were snapped out of your trance by Nat strutting in, her posture similar to that of a Victorian-day queen as always.
"Hey girl, what's up?" She greeted you, pouring herself a glass of water.
"Nothing much. The usual."
She hummed in acknowledgement, pausing as if she were pondering her next words.
"You know, (Y/N), we should have a girl's day. You, me and Wanda."
You drizzled maple syrup over your pancakes, considering your options. You could go with Nat's idea, which would most likely result in you spilling any juicy details you hadn't previously mentioned regarding your love life, or you could take a day for yourself, which would probably end with you wallowing in how much you missed your boyfriend.
"Yeah, let's do it!"
~
A couple hours later, the three of you were lounging on Wanda's bed, each delicately balancing a bottle of nail polish between the fingers you were currently doing. You had selected the bright pink. It reminded you of when you were a teenager, as you always walked around with pink nails.
"So, (Y/N), any plans for when Bucky comes back from his mission?"
You sighed, screwing the cap back on your bottle and examining your work.
"Not really. I mean, it's been six months since he left on a six week mission. I just want Bucky back, you know."
"I get what you mean." Wanda placed a comforting hand on your shoulder. "But still, wouldn't it be nice to plan a lovely date for the two of you? For after he rests up, of course."
"Maybe," you mused, leaning back against the fluffy pillows. "Actually, that sounds like a good idea. And I may have a better one."
Nat raised a questioning eyebrow and you continued.
"Bucky's been on a mission for six months; I think he deserves a vacation. And I can definitely get time off as well. So... what if we went on a road trip?"
Wanda clapped her hands in excitement. "Oh, that's a wonderful idea! I overheard Bucky telling Steve once how he wanted to go on a road trip across the country. Maybe you could do that."
"Yeah! I love road trips." You sat up. "In fact, I think I'll start planning already."
You moved to leave but Wanda grabbed your wrist.
"Noo, don't go!"
"But I need my laptop, Wanda, I'll be right back."
"Use mine."
You shrugged, but sat down again as Wanda handed you her laptop. Nat had pulled out her phone and was busily texting, the clicking of her nails against the screen filling the room.
"Nat, is there something I should know about?" You asked, eyeing her suspiciously.
"Nope," she mumbled, popping the 'p.' "Nothing at all."
Curse her for having such an excellent poker face. You couldn't tell if she was lying or telling the truth, but you chose to ignore it anyway.
~
Your stomach grumbled, and you glanced at your watch, a beautiful watch with a white leather wristband and silver studded hearts on the face, below the hands. It was a gift Bucky had gotten for you on your first anniversary.
Shit. Why did everything have to remind you of him?
"Hey, girls, it's six thirty. I don't know about you, but I'm hungry, so I'm gonna go make myself a sandwich or something, okay?"
You moved to leave, and once more, Wanda grabbed your wrist.
"Wait! We'll order takeout."
So you sat down again, an amused smile playing on your face.
"Why do I have the feeling you're trying to keep me here as long as possible?"
"Maybe we are, maybe you're just imagining it," Nat shrugged. "Does it really matter?"
"I guess not. So, where are we ordering from?"
~
You were now watching a movie, a rom-com, courtesy of Wanda. Of course it had to be a love story. You'd spent six months without your partner, your other half, and you were itching to have him back in your arms.
Naturally, you had called each other, or rather, he had called you whenever he was able to do so safely, but it was never quite the same as having him there, with you.
Nat's phone pinged, and she snatched it up to read the text. Both you and Wanda paid her no mind, Wanda was engrossed in the movie and you were daydreaming about your boyfriend.
Then Wanda's phone pinged, and as she read the text, she glanced at Nat, behind her. However, you were too distracted to notice them subtly mouthing instructions at one another.
"Hey, Nat, (Y/N), I just remembered I have a date with Vision tomorrow and I need to be well-rested, so I'm sorry but I have to cut our girls' day short." She looked so genuinely sorry, you didn't think twice about it and pulled her into a hug.
"Aw, it's okay, girl. We can always schedule another one. Have fun tomorrow!"
Had you looked back when you left, you'd have seen Nat rapidly dialing Steve's number.
~
As you attempted to open the door to your suite, courtesy of Tony, you discovered the door was jammed. You fished your phone out of your pocket to call the billionaire, but shoved it back when you heard a curse on the other side.
"Hey! Who's in there?" You yelled. If it was a burglar, well, God have mercy on him.
You jiggled the knob once more and the door swung open. You leapt forward into a battle stance, but relaxed when you scanned your surroundings and your jaw dropped open.
The room was filled with roses, it seemed like there was a bouquet on every surface. Each rose was the same vibrant hue, as red as your favorite lipstick, the one Bucky couldn't resist messing up and before you knew it, his mouth would be on yours.
Stop thinking about that. Where did these come from?
You spotted a card on the bouquet lying on the couch and you folded it open, inhaling the sweet smell of the flowers as you read it.
'One rose for every day I should have been with you.'
Well that was either sweet or creepy, depending on who it was from.
You stumbled into the bedroom, hoping to find another card or at the very least, a receipt that would indicate who sent them. Instead, you got another huge surprise.
The bedroom was illuminated by candlelight, and there were rose petals on the bed, arranged in a way that must have taken hours and a lot of though.
And the biggest surprise of all was Bucky kneeling before you, a tired but nonetheless admiring grin on his face. His hands held a small black jewelry box, and the ring displayed before you was silver with an elegantly cut sapphire.
Your hands flew to your mouth as Bucky started speaking.
"Doll, I'm... shit I forgot my speech. Okay, uh, shit. Here goes. So I've been away for six months and I've had a lot of time to think about our relationship. You were there for me when I started to adjust to this century. You were there for me during every nightmare, every tough therapy session, everything. I can't thank you enough for that. Then, when I asked you on a first date and you agreed, I was about ready to jump ten feet into the air from joy. And I can't say exactly, but somewhere in between the first time we met and now, I fell hopelessly in love with you. I only hope that you feel the same way about me. (Y/N), will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"
You didn't respond, only falling to your knees and kissing him with every ounce of love and passion you had in you. Your arms wrapped around his neck and you felt a tear slip down your cheek, but you didn't care.
When you finally pulled away to breathe, Bucky's smile could light up the world as he slipped the ring on your finger. You kissed him again, and this time his arms wrapped tightly around your waist as if he were afraid you might evaporate.
This time he was the one to pull away, the same dazzling smile never leaving his face.
"I'm truly the happiest man alive," he whispered, pulling you into him and burying his nose in your hair, inhaling the scent of your shampoo.
You pulled away slightly to look at him, a teasing glint in your eyes.
"Bucky?"
"Yeah, doll?"
"What am I gonna do with all these roses?"

The special fic I wrote for Cain and Daphne's anniversary! The first scene is how Cain proposed, and the second is an anniversary they had during their wandering years.
I had four other scenes I was going to write, but I figured, well, I don't want to actually write this much, and nobody wants to read that much, so I scrapped the idea. The unfinished scenes may appear separately at later dates, though.
So without further ado, Cain and Daphne's anniversary fic!
The glittering crescent moon hung low in the sky, casting a pale sheen over Daphne's scales. Her melodious voice permeated the night that blanketed the glowing city below her. Unbeknownst to the siren, a man was standing just behind her; hidden from view and listening to her song.
It was a sea shanty, one she had heard the sailor sing many times before when they lived their days on the waves. It had quickly become very special to the two, as it told of a pirate who fell in love with a mermaid. Rather fitting for the pair. When the song was done, Cain revealed himself by his applause.
Daphne turned around and smiled upon recognizing him. She quickly traded her tail for legs and got up from the poolside where she had been sitting. She went to him and started to greet him, but he held up a hand to stop her.
Instead, he handed her a jar with a single coin in it. Daphne took the jar and examined it. The coin was not worth much, perhaps only enough to pay for the jar it sat in.
"Doll, I have no need for your petty change when I live under your roof. Why give me this?"
"You sang our song. I thought it appropriate that my musician be paid," he said, giving her a joking smile.
"Your musician? How dare you?" However, Daphne's tone matched Cain's smile. With this they laughed, took one another's hands, and went to bed.
The next night, Daphne sang in the pool again. It was a quiet spot, high above the rest of the city. Cain had built it special for her, as a way to make her more comfortable in her new home (that, admittedly, was not so new anymore).
This time, however, Cain sat by the pool with her. Eyes closed, he listened to her every note. By the end, he had put the jar down by the pool and was thumbing the coin in his pocket.
"This again, darling? I'm not a petty street performer," Daphne teased him and reached a scaly hand up out of the water to pinch his cheek.
"I simply want to reward your hard work, my dear," Cain calmly stated, as he winked at her.
"Barely what I'd call 'hard,' but very well... and why always the possessive? My dear?" She'd said it as a joke, but there was a hint of true intent behind her eyes.
"Are you not my partner, my best friend, my lover? And am I not all these things to you?" He said it in a tone that could've held any level of seriousness, yet his sincerity was undeniable.
"Well, I suppose you are. And you are mine in as much as I am yours, I trust?" She had pulled herself out of the water to hold him as she spoke. The need in their words and in their touches was becoming more apparent by the moment.
Cain leaned into her as he cradled her face and kissed her lips. When he pulled away again, he breathed in her ear, "I will always be yours."
Daphne gazed at him lovingly for a moment, a look which he returned. However, her eyes took on a mischievous gleam once more, and she made another move. "Why don't you prove it, then?" And before Cain could protest, Daphne pushed him into the pool.
Cain came up spluttering, stuttering, and in Daphne's opinion, looking rather handsome. While indeed being soaked through and through, of course. "Daphne, what on earth? I thought we were having a moment!"
"Oh, we are," Daphne had slid back into the pool and gracefully swum over to the steps leading into it. "I know you heard me just now. Get over here and prove how much you love me, why don't you?" The look in her eyes was unmistakable.
Thankfully, Cain took the hint. A melody of giggling, swearing, and other such sounds could be heard from the roof that night. And by morning, two coins could be seen in the bottom of the jar.
The next night and the night after that, Cain and Daphne continually found themselves on the roof, and each time a coin fell to the bottom of the jar. This pattern continued on for a number of weeks. Daphne would sing her seafarer's sea shanties and love poems by pool waves and starlight. In return, Cain would give her a coin as he called her his own in some ambrosial way.
It was on her way back to the moonlit pool one night that she heard whispers. Maids sighing about a shimmering ring, a student of Cain's murmuring about some epistle of romance that his teacher refused to present. And when she got to the pool itself, there was Cain.
It was just him and the now full moon, holding something behind his back. Daphne quietly strained to see it, but Cain saw through her antics and beckoned her to him.
"Oh, Pet, you should have heard the things they were saying downstairs. All this talk of rings and speeches and- hey, are you alright?"
"Oh, yes of course. Daphne..." Oh, boy. Real names always meant something big. She was almost nervous.
Cain took a deep breath and Daphne wondered if she should say something. However, his face cleared as he began to speak. "Daphne, my lover, my best friend, my partner in all things. I have known you for many years, years that feel both lengthy and rather brief." Daphne was watching Cain closely, mystified as to where this could be going. "I knew you first as an enemy of my family, and yet you saved me, there in that cave."
Daphne interjected. "Honestly, I just thought you were nice to look at. I had no idea who you were. And what's with the speech? Did we do something wrong? You haven't been anathematized, have-"
"Ah, shush, I'm trying to remember everything I wrote down."
Lightbulb moment. "So you did write a speech! Are we in trouble?"
"Well, yes! Er, no. Just, be quiet!"
"That's not an answer!"
"Oh, and now it's gone. Thanks a lot!"
"Yes, thanks for not answering any of my very simple questions!"
"Sweetheart, just-" Cain huffed and Daphne quieted down. She stepped towards him and ran her hands across his face and through his hair. He leaned into her wintry touch and rested his hands on her hips.
"Flower, you know you can tell me anything. But if this is something you can't-"
"No, dear, that isn't it," He took a deep breath and from behind his back, pulled the jar of coins. It was fully filled by now.
"I knew I needed something to motivate me, so I told myself 'when the last coin falls, I must say...' what I'm about to say. Otherwise it never would've happened, I would've just kept thinking about it forever." They both giggled.
"I won't waste your time with sweet nothings and grandeur promises that I could never hope to keep. I did have a speech- which you must've heard about from one of my learners. But it is meticulous and dull where words of the soul are what I really ought to be saying. So..."
Cain sighed and brought a hand to Daphne's cheek. He kissed her softly then drew in a calming breath to continue.
"Daphne, the beautiful love of my life. I wish tonight for the moon to kiss the sun once more so that our love may be written in the cosmos- for all to see- once more."
Images of painted eclipses played across Daphne's mind as her eyes began to well up. She whispered his name, if only to hear the sweet way it sounded.
"I knew you as an enemy, and yet I now find myself hopelessly in love with you. I have confidence you feel the same for me." Daphne nodded, a lovestruck smile decorating her face. "I have spent my days with you- and many of my nights, too- and I realize now that I don't want that to stop. I might not ever want it to stop. In fact..."
Cain unscrewed the lid of the jar, revealing a hand-crafted silver ring, with a turquoise gemstone in the middle.
By now, Daphne knew what was happening, so she finished his thought. "I want to love you forever."
Cain's smile was both joyful and relieved. "Exactly." They held one another's eyes for a moment.
Daphne was the first to speak this time. "I love it when you call me yours. And I want this- I want to be yours forever. I want to follow everywhere you go, see all that you see and hear all that you hear. I want to be your lover, your dearest, your..."
And, just a word, barely a breath, "Wife."
Neither was sure who said it, but its impact was clear.
"And I want nothing more than to be your husband, if you'll have me," Cain's voice was soft and timid.
"No, not nothing more. I want everything with you. Make me yours forever, marry me, so that I'll never have to leave you."
Cain sighed, and Daphne saw a tear streak down his cheek. She realized there were some on hers, too.
"If this is... truly what you want? You know-"
"I know who you are, Cain. I know all that comes with being you, and being with you. I know your past, who you've become, and all you want to do. And I love you. I love you more than all the mountains, seas, sun, moon, and stars."
"And I love you. More than I thought it possible to love anyone. And I'll be yours well beyond the end of time, come what may."
And with that, Daphne could hold back no longer, and she threw her arms around Cain. He held her close, as close as he could, it seemed. She kissed him over and over again, as he did in return. They both giggled and smiled.
"Wait, are we really doing this?" Cain yelped.
"Yes! I get to marry you! You get to marry me, oh my-"
Cain picked her up and spun her around, and kissed her with passion.
"Oh, Daphne, I love you. I love you so much!"
"And I love you, Cain. More than anything, I love you!"
"And because of that-" Cain swept Daphne up into his arms and took her to the stairs leading back into the house. She wiggled and yipped at him the whole way, as he carried her past crowds and servants and into the grand hall.
He set her down and kissed her one last time. He clapped his hands to get the people's attention. "Everyone! I have an announcement..."
~*~
Cain walked through the cave entrance, soaked in the downpouring rain, and set down a bundle of drenched firewood. "It's no good. I can't find anything even nearly dry enough to burn," he said, sitting down beside his shivering wife and wrapping his arms around her.
Daphne sneezed and gave Cain a weary smirk. "Why don't you just light the sparks yourself?"
Cain tensed. "Mouse, you know we can't do that, what if someone sees, and realizes who we are?"
Daphne sniffled a bit before responding. Her sickness persisted as long as the rain stayed, which set Cain worrying. She however, always quelled his concerns with her assurances of her speedy recovery once the rain inevitably stopped.
"Kitten, who would be out here in this storm? It'd only be a small fire, just enough to warm us."
Cain sighed and moved a hand from Daphne to stroke his beard thoughtfully. After a moment of consideration, however, he leaned forward, adjusted the empty firepit, and snapped his bronze fingers. From the snap came flames, that sustained themselves on nothing but magic, while still providing heat and light to the couple.
Cain leaned back, smiled mildly at Daphne, and snuggled her close. She leaned into him, snuck a handkerchief from his pocket, and sneezed again. While she was cleaning herself up, Cain looked to their bedroll and caught a glimpse of his calendar. He studied the circled date for a moment, and, upon realizing that date was the current day's date, suddenly pulled Daphne close to kiss her.
She reached her hands up to hold his cheeks with them, and he wrapped his arms around her waist. Daphne turned her head to draw in a breath and spoke. "Oh, Cain, what's gotten into you?" It was a chastise, yes, but she said it while giggling, as Cain did in response.
"Did I tell you what day it is?" Cain was the only one who kept track of the date, but then, he had always been the more scholarly of the two. Daphne kissed him again and shook her head.
He leaned close to her ear as he spoke. "It's our anniversary, sweetheart," he smiled his usual shy smile at her.
Daphne eyed him with suspicion and after a moment of hesitation, spoke with a note of befuddlement. "And even if it were-"
"Which it is."
"Why here? Or do you not realize, honey; we're in a damp, cold cave," she sprightfully snipped at him.
"It's not so cold now that we have the fire," He quipped back.
Cain looked at her as though he were trying to make a point. Daphne tch'ed and turned away from him teasingly. He held her chin with a finger and gently turned her face towards his.
The mood in the cave shifted, from a more playful one to something more tender, more romantic. Flames flickered gracefully in Cain's eyes, just as they had since Daphne had met him. He looked into hers, and saw great ocean waves, waves that moved him ever closer to her. He, accepting the push, leaned in once more to kiss her.
They stayed like this for a time, caught in their own world, floating through time. After a moment, he pulled away, drew in a breath, and spoke. "I trust you know what I was going to say?"
"Enlighten me," Daphne sleepily murmured against his neck as she nestled into his shirt collar and closed her eyes. No doubt the illness was continuing to make her weak.
"You're- oh. Dear, you're not falling sleep, are you?"
Daphne simply turned so that her back was pressed comfortably against his chest and hummed. "I'm still sick, you know. Hand me that hankie?"
Cain gave her the handkerchief, which she had previously, and rather unceremoniously, dropped on the ground. She quickly took it and sneezed once more, and then tossed it in the fire.
Cain looked at her with puzzlement. "What on earth did you do that for?"
"What? It was all snotty and dirty, you didn't expect me to keep it, did you?"
Cain scoffed with lighthearted incredulity. "Princesses. You can be a real diva sometimes, you know that?"
But Daphne was already dozing, cuddling close to her husband and softly singing in her sleep. Cain looked at her with such fondness, and quietly whispered in her ear.
"I was simply going to say that despite everything, you're all I'll ever truly need. Goodnight, my starlight."

Drabble/ficlet asks?
(credit: @foundyourheart. picked from this and this):
1.  we’re strangers who meet at a bar, get drunk, and wake up to announcements of our new engagement all over our social media - what did we do???
2. I’m working at the cash and when I ask you how your day is going, you tell me that it’s the anniversary of [something horrible] and I don’t know what to do with that information so I accidentally blurt “well hope it’s a good one!” when saying goodbye
3. we make contact before trying to steal the last seat on the subway/bus/train and I end up in your lap and fuck you, I’m going to stay here because I’ve had a really long day and this seat was mine
4. we were just introduced at a party by our mutual friend and when my partner comes to join us, you freak out because you were just outside making out with them and you pull me aside to tell me
5. you’re in the middle of giving me your phone number when the cops show up to arrest you and wait! wait! I didn’t hear the last two numbers!
6.  I hire you to be the stripper at my friend’s bachelor/ette party and you’re the T.A. for my favourite class
7. we’re both on a reality show (like the queer bachelor) where we’re told to be friends but thefirst time we met, you were incredibly rude and judgmental and I don’t know if I can do this for the damn cameras
8. sometimes I steal flowers from your garden on my way to the cemetery, but today you’ve caught me and have demanded to come with me to make sure the “[person] is [attractive] enough to warrant flower theft” and I’m trying to figure out how to break it to you that we’re on our way to a graveyard
9. you’re famous and you want to hide out in my bookstore which is fine except the stupid paparazzi won’t leave and now there’s a photo of us in the tabloids and they’re printing misinformation and why the fuck won’t you clear this up on your twitter account
10.  I’m getting progressively more annoyed at the people you bring back to our apartment and it’s not until a friend jokingly asks if I’m jealous that I realize I’ve developed feelings for you
11. frustrated with my latest essay, I write ‘fuck this’ on the desk I always sit at and the next time I go there, you’ve written ‘MOOD’ so now we leave each other notes on the desk in pencil and I really want to know who you are
12.  I run the college’s queer club and you’ve been walking past our door for the last three days, did you want to talk?
13.  I don’t drink so when you offer to buy me something at the college bar my friend has dragged me out to, I ask for something non-alcoholic and you change your drink order to be non-alcoholic too
14. I catch you yelling at the printer in the library for not working and I don’t mean to alarm you since you’re clearly stressed, but I think you accidentally unplugged it
15. we did a project together once in first year and I thought you were cute but we haven’t talked since and now we’ve matched on tinder/grindr/etc.

Through Thick And Thin
Fandom: Sonic the Hedgehog
Type: hurt/comfort, platonic fluff
Word count: about 2700 words
Author’s notes: this year was a mess. But I’m grateful for a few things that happened to me in 2020. One of these things is getting into the Sonic fandom, which helped me find joy in being creative again. Another is a budding friendship with someone really cool, that I can only hope will last for a long time.
This fic is kind of a gift to that person for New Year’s Day. To everyone, but especially to you O, I wish a happy new year and many good things to come.
- - - - -
It was not an easy morning.
Shadow had always been an early bird. He never needed much sleep compared to other mobians, thanks to his bio-engineered origins. This was both a blessing and a curse, depending on the days.
Being able to stay up most of the night during missions proved useful more than once. On the other hand, when ugly thoughts would assail him and sleeping them away was not an option, well… It was suddenly much less interesting.
On this last day of December, the hedgehog could not shake uneasy feelings. Between Eggman’s plotting and his own personal issues Shadow always had rough times, but this year had been… a lot.
Walking silently in the empty corridor, careful not to wake up anyone in the household, the dark mobian reached the kitchen and started preparing hot chocolate. Since most of his friends knew about his sweet tooth he didn’t bother hiding it anymore, and Rouge always made sure they were stocked up on cocoa.
While waiting for the milk to warm, he glanced at the clock on the wall. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
The eerie calm of early hours often made Shadow slightly uncomfortable. Despite his introvert side enjoying the peaceful solitude, it was also a moment where his thoughts would simmer in his mind, either awoken by confuse dreams or simply emerging as the day started. He would often put some music or read a book to avoid thinking too hard about it.
Didn’t always work, though.
Taking a deep breath the hedgehog felt some relief at the sweet scent of chocolate. He took a small sip before moving to roll himself in blankets on the large couch. With a long and noisy yawn he reached for the remote and pointed it at the large TV screen in front of him. Maybe there was something nice to watch while waiting for his roommates to get up.

When Shadow opened his eyes again, sunlight was gently glowing through the translucent curtains of the living room. Which meant it was probably kind of late already. It seemed he fell back asleep at some point.
With a frown, he rubbed his dishevelled quills and took a look at his phone. Almost 11am, and no sign of Rouge or Omega... This was odd, especially since they planned on spending the New Year’s Eve together.
That’s when he noticed an envelope lying on the small coffee table, next to his now empty mug. It was plain kraft, with a small card inside that only offered an address and the words “At noon, don’t be late hun”.
Obviously from Rouge. She loved putting mystery and drama in everything she did. Shadow huffed and shook his head.
Irredeemable.
Did that mean his friends got up without waking him and prepared some kind of surprise? However silly it was, this simple envelope brought some warmth to the hedgehog’s heart. He got up to take a quick shower and prepare for the day, a small smile peeking at the corner of his lips.

The location was one Shadow didn’t particularly recognise, a small intersection in a popular part of the town. Since Team Dark lived in a suburban area and their job at G.U.N was usually all over the world, his knowledge of the city was lacklustre. Right as his phone displayed 12pm a text popped up on the screen.
Rouge Right behind the shoes store, a cafe.
The striped mobian rolled his eyes with a hint of amusement. Even for something as simple as a New Year between friends, the bat couldn’t help making some kind of fun game to play. Shadow would gladly proclaim it futile and childish, but he actually enjoyed these quirky adventures his best friend always peppered in his life.
What he saw next filled him with pure joy. Of course Rouge wouldn’t choose a random cafe to meet. She had to make it extra one way or another, and she just knew how to please him.
The Gentle Garden Chao Café & Flower Shop
Almost giddy at the idea of having some sweets surrounded by chao, the ultimate lifeform stepped into the small establishment. A quick glance around made him happy beyond words: soft muted lights and warm colours complemented vintage furniture, large potted plants adorned all sides of the place, and —most importantly— chao of every kind were all over the place, either walking, being cuddled by clients or sleeping on small pillows.
In the back of the room was a large counter, behind which a massive chalkboard displayed both the cafe menu and prices of various flower arrangements.
Before Shadow could go and talk to the barista, a familiar face caught his attention. Rouge was there, sitting nonchalantly and sipping some drink in the most ostentatious way possible.
The hedgehog smirked and sat in front of her.
“So...?” he started with a raised brow. “So what? Did you think I’d let you stay home for this special day?” Rouge huffed between two exaggerated sips. “It’s just New Year’s Eve, not an anniversary or something...” Shadow said, glancing at the table.
He realised an order of white chocolate cappuccino —his very favourite drink— and forêt noire —one of his favourite sweets— were set in front of him. For a second he felt something rise in his chest. A mix of gratitude and that odd yet pleasing vulnerability he could only feel with his closest friends.
“I know it’s just the new year.” the bat leaned on the table, her eyes both tender and serious. “I also know you haven’t been doing great lately. It’s been a difficult time, and of course it won’t magically be over as midnight comes, but...”
She looked in the distance, her eyes piercing through the windows and their cold winter lighting. Shadow could very clearly feel the bittersweet essence of her expression. This year had also been hard on her.
“We’re in this together, y’know.” she resumed, turning a gentle smile towards him. “And while I can’t resolve every problem we have, I can at least invite my emo bestie to enjoy some chao and indulge in sugary treats!”
The hedgehog chuckled at this, then raised his cappuccino mug. “Let’s have a good time, then. To us bitches.” he said with a knowing grin. “To us bitches!” she exclaimed happily. ”Now drink that ‘ccino, we have chao to cuddle.”
Some laughs and friendly banter later, two chao had found their way on Shadow. One was sleepily nested on his legs while the other was playing on his head, brushing his quills curiously.
“You really have your way with them, just like Omega...” Rouge remarked. She loved the little creatures very much, but she never seemed to attract them as easily as her two partners. No one really knew why and she honestly didn’t mind. It was fun enough to observe them from a distance: no risks of ruined haircut or having one mess with her wings.
“This is the best.” the hedgehog whispered, his voice full of emotion. His friend chuckled. Shadow was endearing in many ways, but his love for plants and creatures was unparalleled in an extremely wholesome way.
“Did you ever consider adopting one?” she asked before biting into her remaining pastry. Shadow’s expression became slightly somber as he looked at her. “I…” he sighed and scratched the sleeping one’s head. “I always wanted to, I guess. Even on the Ark, once we learned about them with Maria, we used to pretend having one. There was a plush, I don’t remember its name. We would play parents, bring it along for walks across the Ark, this kind of things.”
Rouge nodded sympathetically. Maria was less and less a sensitive subject as years went by, but Shadow was still defensive about these memories. Sharing them was one of the most intimate things he would do, and she felt honoured every time it happened.
“Maybe one day.” the hedgehog shrugged with a tired smile. ”Right now our lives are too dangerous. I can’t raise one properly as long as we keep fighting and going on missions Chaos knows where. – Let’s hope we get Eggman and his clique once and for all, then!” Rouge said with a grin. “Can’t wait to have you pester us with photos of your ugly little baby.”
The genuine laugh that followed made the bat beam with happiness.

The very specific atmosphere of New Year’s Eve was not lost to the two mobians as they strolled in the city. Streets were bustling with activity, but in a way that felt distinct from other winter holidays. The ambient anticipation was less frantic, almost… solemn. Instead of rushing for gifts and food, people seemed determined to enjoy the final hours of this year.
Shadow found it interesting, not without its charm. He was more used to strolls in mountains, lonely forests and small paths undulating through fields. The buzzing activity of the city was something else —very nice, though. Plus Rouge knew every neighbourhood surprisingly well, and offered him little fun facts and stories about all sorts of buildings and places.
“It’s a real shame we don’t get more free time between G.U.N and Eggman.” the bat lamented. “There are so many nice spots I’d love to visit with Omega and you. – We do have vacations once in a while.” Shadow replied. “Yeah, but they’re either ruined by some apocalyptic event or by an intense need for rest.” she sighed. “We can’t enjoy the Museum of Arts if we’re falling asleep every two paintings.”
The dark mobian nodded. Technically Omega and him didn’t need a lot of sleep, but being world-saving heroes brought its own kind of mental fatigue. Moments of calm and respite were too few and far between.
“Well. Next time we have some days off we’ll organise a Team Dark afternoon.” Shadow offered. “An exhibit or two, some games at the arcade. Maybe a small concert at a cafe. – Oh my. Hun, I’m impressed to see you take this kind of initiatives.” the bat replied.
The hedgehog gave her a friendly nudge. “Shut up, can’t let you make all the decisions. – I don’t see why not.” Rouge shrugged with a knowing smile.
They suddenly stopped. Without really realising it, the duo had reached the large avenue leading back to their house. As they exchanged a glance, Rouge winked. “Omega must be waiting for us. Let’s move!” she said cheerfully.

An immediate wave of relief filled Shadow as soon as they passed the front door. “Finally some warmth.” he sighed, removing his large coat and thick scarf. “I was expecting your lowered body temperatures.” Omega’s robotic voice answered from the kitchen. “Hot tea and biscuits are ready for immediate consumption. Made with love.”
Rouge snickered and Shadow repressed a chuckle.  Both knew Omega was absolutely unable to cook anything without setting fire to it, so the biscuits were probably store-bought. They still appreciated the gesture greatly.
Everyone gathered around the table, remembering stories about the now-ending year and its numerous developments. Adrenaline-filled fights, obscure investigations and exhausting assignments went alongside hilarious mistakes, glorious teamwork… and even celebratory moments with all the other heroes of Mobius.
“Okay, but the award for the best party of the year still goes to Knuckles’ surprise birthday.” Rouge said confidently while helping Omega put on a colourful crochet beanie. “Ughh please. Let’s not talk about it.” Shadow groaned, knowing exactly where this was going. “It was extremely fun. The fireworks accident made it over 200% better than any other celebration.” the robot insisted. “Oh right, I almost forgot about that!” the bat laughed. “Poor Knuckie, having to deal with a fire hazard on his cherished island…”
Memories of the furious echidna shouting frantically brought a grin to Shadow’s face. “But!” Rouge added, ”I mostly remember someone having a few drinks too much and— – NOPE!” the hedgehog exclaimed as he brandished his hands. “No talk of this specific event shall happen in this house. Ever.”
Omega tapped his fingers on the table as he eyed his smaller friend. “It is a shame I did not record it for ulterior viewing.” Shadow’s glare was so intense the former badnik recoiled slightly.
“Oh well, it’s all in the past now.” Rouge mused teasingly. ”Good times, good times...”

The closet was absurdly full of useless trinkets and Shadow was very, very close to “fix” it with a Chaos blast.
Of course he wouldn’t, knowing how preciously Rouge kept all those odd items from her past. Jewels, foreign souvenirs, postcards, old plushies, photographs… All her memorabilia was kept there, in a mismatched mess mixed up with cleaning supplies, spare beddings and various tools.
“They should be somewhere near the bottom!” the bat shouted from across the flat. The hedgehog growled, his eyes desperately scanning the clutter in front of him. Finally he found what he came for.
Fairy lights. The essential accessory to any LRCS —Living Room Camping Session.
Shadow walked back to the main room, where a drying rack and several chairs formed a structure covered by sheets and blankets. Omega was evaluating whether the improvised tent was big enough for him. “It is perfect, Rouge. We will be able to fit within the designated comfy area.” he said before crawling underneath the colourful construction.
The hedgehog carefully hung the string of lights around and inside the tent before plugging it. Rouge grabbed some snacks and scuttled against the large robot, who fiddled with the remote until a title screen showed on the TV.
“Are we really watching this?” Shadow asked hesitantly. “Shadow. We all know your inclination for romance between organic beings. Please come cuddle so we can start the movie.” Omega said. “Don’t tell me you suddenly decided to hate cheesy fiction, sweetie.” Rouge added. “I would rather perish than lose your snarky remarks and teary-eyed spee— – Alright, I get it, I’m coming.” the hedgehog replied with a frown. “This better be good, though.”
It was everything but good. Outbursts of laughter and incredulous stares followed one another as the movie —a romantic parody of the famous blockbuster Attack On Mobius— kept getting more and more absurd. Omega threatened to turn himself off as he struggled to find any reasoning behind what was happening, and Rouge almost choked on her pop-corn near the end of the second part.
When the credits started rolling, the three buddies snuggled together. The winter night cold was no match for a group hug and thick quilts. Shadow eyed his phone and hummed.
“It’s almost midnight. – Does that mean we have to prepare a wish?” Rouge asked in a sleepy voice. “We don’t have to.” the hedgehog replied, glancing at his two friends.
Has to be an odd sight, he thought. A haphazard team with so many differences, united by pure luck in a challenging world. Chilling together in a makeshift tent in the middle of a flat like nothing else mattered. He closed his eyes and took a moment to appreciate the warm feelings. Being surrounded by such amazing souls for whom he really mattered. Knowing all the affection and dedication hidden behind that seemingly cold name, “Team Dark”.
“I wished for a pony.” Both Omega and Shadow looked at their bat friend with tilted heads. “What? They’re cute, I dunno.” she shrugged with a shit-eating grin. “What would you guys wish for? – Dual plasma swords.” the robot replied. “Maybe I should ask Miles when we cross paths again.”
Rouge rolled her eyes, then shouted curse words as she realised midnight was mere seconds away. Omega startled, making the whole tent fall on the team. The striped hedgehog quickly covered his muzzle with his hands, trying to suppress an irresistible laugh. No matter how hard life was, no matter the obstacles in his way, one thing was certain as the year came to an end.
Friendship was all he could wish for.
