It wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card that I’d draw V again. Anyway I’ll go ahead ramble in the tags
#devil may cry 5#dmc5#dmc v#so I’ve replayed dmc5 a stupid amount of times since March#but to be fair it’s a very short game#but I’ve developed a hobby of trying to connect dots between v and Vergil#cuz the detail is actually so good#for instance even how he holds the cane is similar to how he handles Yamato#his expressions are so alike but it’s not obvious#but then I thought#why is vergil’s humanity some dweeb who is like 20 something#he is like closest age wise to his dmc3 version#(this has probably been answered but I wanted to figure it out myself)#then I remembered the line from v about how his humanity has finally returned#so has it been subdued and dormant ever since he got imprisoned by mundus#and is that why his humanity resembles his younger self#cuz the human vulnerable side of him has been dead#this is the only edition of Vergil I won’t drop kick on sight#human v is a dork ass goth who has a soft squishy heart#and he can’t even kill his brother who he hates so much when given the chance#UUUGGHHHHHHHHHH#don’t even get me started about the ordeal with Nero#v tried so hard to just see him as a tool but he knows that wasn’t the case

Met Joshua Williamson at NYCC during one of his signings! He said of all the characters he wants to protect the most at DC, it would be Damian because that’s his “baby boy” 🥺 Said he’s tired of people hurting Damian since he’s already gone through so much his whole life.
Asked him 2 questions!
What accent does Damian have?
Others have asked him but he doesn’t want to say, because he wants people to talk about it! He mentioned Damian has only lived in America for 4 years, and would naturally have an accent.
Who decided on Damian’s new hair?
Simone - Joshua said he didn’t notice it at first and then he was like “UMMM IT KINDA LOOKS LIKE TIM…”
He let it go because he thought about how Tim has had different hairstyles, and Damian is young and still growing.

okay not to come of as a hater for a second but i'm thinking about this again and kind of want to get the thought out...
is it just me or is the way people discuss pilots online a little... odd? don't get me wrong, it's honestly really cool to see people get so hyped up and invested in something based on the pilot alone, but from how some people discuss them it belies a bit of a misunderstand of what a pilot is supposed to be and do.
a pilot is a proof of concept for something, not the finished product. this is most evident with pilots produced the traditional route, where the final series may be wildly different from the initial pitch (the first one that comes to mind is the gravity falls pilot, although it's still pretty similar to what we did end up getting).
so it's... i'm a little concerned for the inevitable fallout when a popular pilot becomes a series that's different from it's initial pitch, i suppose
#like i really enjoyed the amazing digital circus pilot#and im excited to see how it changes and grows... but it seems like somewhere along the line#there came this false impression that a pilot HAS to be the template for a show#as opposed to the first 'complete' version of what an episode has the POTENTIAL to be#i remember noting a lot of odd discussion too when the lackadaisy pilot dropped...#and again dont get me wrong VERY EXCITING and LOTS to talk about even before the series was funded#but i remember the discussion centering around the pilot in a way that was like... treating it as if it were the finished product#less like a test run and more like a full short film?#idk i just worry someone somewhere will get in a kerfuffle and i hope it doesnt happen#jonnie's thoughts

i keep seeing comments and memes about how zeus MADE hades kidnap persephone, like saying hades asked for romance advice by zeus and zeus said that hades HAD to kidnap Persephone bc he said so. Does that have any mythological backing or was that from a modern adaptation-? I don’t remember Zeus forcing Hades at all? All i remember from the homeric hymn to Demeter was that Zeus gave Hades permission to take Persephones hand but no where in it said that Zeus made Hades have to kidnap her?

How many times do I have to learn the lesson that I should start the story when the story starts instead of trying to tack on introductory worldbuilding?
Seriously. My instincts about when to start the story are almost never wrong. But I always assume the first scene in my imagination requires set-up that people outside of my imagination don't have. So I tack on an intro to set the mood and to set up the plot and characters and world. And it's boring. When I should have just started where I wanted to start so I could weave explanations into a scene where things are actually happening.
#adventures in writing#i decided to tackle that goose girl retelling i came up with earlier this summer#(the one that was supposed to be a simple short version of a fairy tale)#(but i got too attached to it and became paralyzed by the need to do it right)#it turned out that one big hurdle was the lack of names#so i finally just picked some and went with it#and then when it came to starting the story i thought that i needed to show how the mc feels lost and ashamed by her fall#and explain that she had a talking horse and it's dead now and all that complicated stuff#and then i remembered writing 'a day late' where i made sure the story started with the character *doing* something#which is a decent lesson but it wasn't quite enough here#the really important lesson i should have learned from 'a day late' is that you shouldn't start the story too early#i had tried a meandering scene of beatrice arriving at the castle and it was boring#and i solved the problem by starting partway through her frantic search#and then wove in the explanations about her situation#which is exactly what needs to happen with this goose girl story#i just need to start with her doing something and then weave in all the exposition bit by bit#start where i'd initially wanted to start and let the readers figure out all the backstory as i slowly reveal it#i feel like i've repeated myself five times so i'll stop talking now

#this last year hasn’t been great for me#in 2023 I relapsed into self-harm several times#I gave myself a lot of new scars and I’m afraid to wear shorts around my friends now#I can feel myself relapsing into my ed#like it’s slow but I see the signs#I feel like I’m on the verge of a breakdown at all times#it’s almost impossible for me to talk about my feelings anymore#I don’t remember the last time I was content#maybe everyone who hates me is right#maybe my partner’s parents are right about me#I miss being innocent and happy#but I have to think back so so far to remember that version of me#so far I don’t even know if they ever existed#am I destined to punish myself until I die?#was I cursed from the beginning to be either bad or unhappy?#fighting the urge to sh again currently#I need sleep so bad but I can’t#even when I do sleep I keep having bad dreams#I keep dozing off at the wheel#I’m afraid#but mostly I’m just tired and sad#I don’t want to hurt anymore#I don’t want to hurt *myself* anymore#I thought I was better#I am definitely not better#I don’t know what to do

#noopa rambles#hdjddjd I'm trying to figure out what to wear to a friend's Fancy Tea Party on saturday#the obvious choice was ofc either a full folk dress or some folk dress pieces#I'm pretty sure I won't go for the full dress at this point; esp bc the weather forecast is. not great#protecting the wool skirt from the weather(tm) might be a pain#protecting just the vest is much easier#rn I'm thinking I'm gonna opt for my Kaukola vest and shirt and throw some black pants on to go with it#if anyone wants a reference google 'kaukolan kansallispuku' (the women's version)#I do not have the veil; I have the headband (not sure if I'll wear it for the party but it goes Woosh!!!)#I can't believe the shirt still (mostly) fits; I got it when I was 11 dhdjjd#the sleeves are too short and the hem too but otherwise it was fine???#I remembered that the shoulders would've been tight but they weren't???#the hem is gonna be a bit annoying if I wear the shirt with pants bc it will try to ride up when I tuck it in#the sleeves are fine if my arms are down but they defo ride up when I move them#I should acquire a slightly bigger shirt...#tho the skirt of that dress is simply too small so it might be easier to just sell the whole thing#but the things are so damn expensive so getting a new one would be hard and I'm emotionally attached#I do have a different dress (rautjärvi) that is actually in my size#which I would opt for if I was gonna wear a whole ensemble#tho for some reason the cuffs of that shirt are actually tighter than the cuffs of the old too small shirt???#just how small has my aunt been when that dress was made for her!!!#granted she was a teenager then and not. almost thirty. but dhdjdkd what the fuck man#the only real downside to this whole ordeal is that I need to iron the damn shirt...#it's So Wrinkly#damn this fancy tea party for making me iron shit!!!

Someone's collected a bunch of Muse instrumental versions from across youtube and put them in a playlist!
#gosh I remember when I was trying to learn Showbiz I had an instrumental version I was referring to#I got really lazy to read off a sheet—I was Not Very Good at sightreading (though I suppose I could've found a tab version#but like I said; I got lazy^) plus I said fuck it; I have perfect pitch anyway so I'm just going to learn it by ear from the instrumentals#so. here. I was good enough to work out the notes but too stupid to realise that a pitchshifter pedal can actually send your sound up one#or even TWO octaves#and so I fucking. Tightened my string until it snapped and gave me a nasty cut on my hand#height of stupid - 13 y/o me discovering the power of guitar pedals lol. Greetings, I have a question. I was curious why you draw Stratos SO much bigger than betrayus when in the show Betrayus is bigger. Is that just a design choice?
Definitely a design choice, thank you for asking!!
When I was 14 - 15 I genuinely didn't remember that Betrayus was taller than Stratos, and then when I found out I just said "whoopsie daisy!" and moved on because I already had liked the idea of Stratos being 7'2" and I didn't want to change it!
Plus I was working off of my own version of the story in my head at the time and was hardly working with canon :')
(I was too afraid to look at the show because I was embarrassed)
