Post-extermination!Lute x fem reader? Where lute is trying to show that she's still good/strong enough for reader and she can still be independent. Along with reader comforting Lute about how she's still perfect for her. (Details and examples below bc i enjoy rambling sorry)

I imagine that after loosing her arm lute would be very showy about overcompensating for it. And that if reader even tried to treat her bit differently, like being more SLIGHTLY gentle/careful with her, lute would get offended tell her to knock it off.

Lute's a strong woman, pre-extermination her carried reader alllll the time. Post-extermination Lute would most certainly still try too (and surprisingly succeeds somehow) despite the reader's worries of being dropped or being too heavy for 1 arm.

This ranges from trying to hold all the groceries alone to trying to prove she's still good in the bedroom by not allowing the reader to help (like she'd literally tell reader to let her do it alone)

it takes longer for her to heal and accept the sudden turn of events

she doesn't want it to stop her or hold her back, especially from her relationship with you (especially with the loss of adam) she'd want to hold on tight to you

(like in the ask) Lute isn't one to just be beaten down by this, its a challenge she's going to fking overcome-by herself

likes to do things for YOU instead of the other way around, like if you want a snack or something she won't even let you stand up (let alone THINK) about grabbing it yourself

definitely wouldn't tell you about how she feels unless its too much, but you can see it in her; the way she's sluggish or looking down more often.

(although im not sure atm) I assume Lute is right-handed; without the left, things can get a bit trivial at times

like when you watch her try to balance her long spear with one arm, the weight of the steel trembling between her fingers. the muscles in her arms not used to carrying the entire weight by itself

Lute carrying you with one arm: she tries like how she used to, by putting an arm under your arms to support your back-but stops when she realizes she cant pick you up bridal style

I think she could manage holding you that way, around your back if you also hold onto her by wrapping your arms around her shoulders

(on this note) you being so close to her face is the perfect opportunity for her to kiss you

Hugging her from the back is not happening- her wings and all. . .

If you tried to help her take care of her arm too; bandaging it or cleaning it; she'd refuse all help and lock herself in the bathroom until she's handled it herself

(you can hear a ton of mumbled swearing and things knocking around)

its not a you thing, its a her thing; she needs to prove to herself that she can do it

Lute would hate all the flowers the other exterminators would get her; to the point she wouldn't even acknowledge the roses you placed on her nightstand

she's too stubborn to ever say it, but she's thankful you're still with her: Lute giving you soft kisses when she thinks your asleep, whispering all the 'thank you's' she doesn't think she could ever say to you awake

The loss of her arm pushes her to work harder, especially on the arm she still has in order to compensate for what happened

Technically, the hell-spawn didn't take her arm, but they still took a lot from her- she doesn't want that to mean they could take you from her too

I'm so sorry I don't know how long this has been in my asks. Disclaimer: I haven't read comics in a while and these are purely my own opinions.

If this list is too overwhelming, start at either Detective Comics #568 (if you want 80s batfam vibes) or Detective Comics #934 (if you want modern batfam vibes).

I'd say a good starting place if you want a place to jump in featuring the entire modern cast of characters is Batman (2016) and Detective Comics (2016). A few Batfam characters have solos from this time too (These are at the start of Rebirth, which is one of the more recent reboots, this is where I started).

For individual characters, here are some recs. Most of these will not be from within the past 10 years.

Batgirl (2000): Cassandra Cain's solo, fleshed out her character a bunch. There's a few problems that are relics of the time but it's generally pretty well regarded

Batman and the Outsiders (Rebirth) is good for both Cass and Duke Thomas

Two good Duke comics are We Are Robin (2015 I think?) and Batman and the Signal (2018)

Batgirl (2009): this is Stephanie Brown's solo that only has (I think) 12 issues because of the New 52 reboot

The 90s runs of Nightwing and Robin, starring Dick Grayson and Tim Drake respectively

Birds of Prey (1999): This is where you'll find a lot of Barbara Gordon as Oracle content

Batman and Robin (2009): Dick Grayson as Batman after Bruce's presumed death. Damian Wayne as Robin.

Red Robin (2009): Tim goes off the rails

Batman: Under the Red Hood (2005). Jason is back and murderous.

I'm also a big fan of Batman (2016) Annual #3 because of the Alfred content

Those are all I can think of at the moment. I'm sure some other comic people can think of a lot more (@junkoandthediamonds you are The Comic Person maybe you could give them some recs? No pressure)

Some individual issues I would recommend are:

Jason's robin run from the 80s: Batman #408-425 and Detective Comics #568-582 (thank you @dailyjasontodd because your post came up on google for this)

Tim's entrance: As a normal dude, Batman #436. As Robin, Batman #457. These issues are from 1989 and 1990 respectively.

Steph's debut: Detective Comics #647 in 1992

Steph's Robin run, Robin #126-128 in 2003 or 2004ish?

War Games. This is a 2004 event spanning multiple comic runs and crossovers. Stephanie's (fake) death. I'm not sure how good it actually is.

No Man's Land. This 1999 event was the debut of Cass.

That issue where Jason comes back and beats the shit out of Tim. It's in Teen Titans vol 3 issue 29

Damian's debut: Batman #665 (2006)

my first playthrough i got the white arabian and i named her Lemoyne Tree as a tribute to the state of Lemoyne and my favorite post malone song Lemon Tree. But she always got super dirty so i then went to the lake next to Strawberry and tamed the red chestnut arabian. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that one, she's gorgeous and arthur always gets that one when i play it. my beautiful baby girl Diablo <3

i won't go too far, but just keep yourself high honor towards the end of the game. you need that to be your first ending. :')

Charles deserves the absolute world. just listening to him speak and hanging out with him at camp, and the missions you continue on to do with him throughout the game are so much fun. charles is someone i wish i could have in my real life because he seems like he would be the best person to speak to and hang out with. he is so lovely and down to earth. even arthur says it a couple times throughout the game. charles gets a good ending i promise.

my top blorbos are Arthur, Dutch, Charles, Hosea, and Josiah Trelawny my absolute beloved <33333 just wait until you go on the mission with Charles to find trelawny. one of my favorite missions ever ever ever ever!!

Wind Charge Thoughts

Now that we've got wind charges in todays snapshot, I've already formulated some opinions on it, alongside some other peeps ;) I've gotta say, first of all, that I love that its just like... straight up a really fun item. in concept and in practice, its just... the purest essence of fun in games is funny and or cool movement, i feel like a lot of people can agree on that, yeah? feels very ... right to be in minecraft. i absolutely will be stocking up on tons of wind charges to have goofs with friends and do some sick parkour jumps - heck, even in an ideal world this could replace firework boosting... its a really, really great and widely acceptable-as-amazing feature

but thats where we get into the imperfections. the idea of rocketjumping is perfect, and while at first i was very happy about how it has a skill ceiling (its hard to get the maximum height out of a wind charge jump) it has dawned upon me that the skill-to-benefit scale is kinda... not the best ATM. I think what you ideally want to do for something like this is... be able to hook in even players who suck at precisely timing things, because hey, they might even try and hone their skills more. and of course there is benefit to having it be weak if you're not skilled, because then you wouldnt have a goal of improvement of skill to look towards but like, it feels as though right now, its VERY precise to get a good leap out of a wind charge, and if you dont? you get like, the tiniest little hop out of it. low skill should yield decent results, average skill should yield perhaps more predictable or consistent results, and high skill can be for walljumping level shenanigans and chaining them together as it stands, low skill wind charge play is a bit too dull. doesnt really feel like theres a great consistent middle ground, either. i either nail it and fly like 10 blocks in the air, or it just... kinda acts like a very literal double jump, barely bringing me above 5 blocks in the air but also, it is a very fun item! and it is early on! i really cant wait to see the shenanigans people get up to with the movement. going fast is very fun... and its like, not some absurdly endgame thing either!!! and .. jumping high in minecraft by blasting yourself IS cool. in ANY game its pretty cool, honestly. and it makes SENSE but yeah, the effort-to-reward is a bit outta wack right now. im not saying i want it to be BETTER per se, or to be incredibly easy to use, but just to give a better taste for if you dont do super great at using it. feels frame perfect honestly lol

okay! so. starting with me ig. i dont even know how to begin.

im listening to music atm. i always do - people that dont always listen to some music are kinda psychopaths if you ask me. like, if im not listening to music, i'll be listening to an audiobook or a podcast or be watching some video or netflix. i cant not do anything. i say i love reading, but the last time i read a book has been weeks ago. i just have reading slumps sometimes. not saying that i dont read regularly - god, no. i'll find enough fanfics and oneshots and shit to count for a book. but most of the time i can spare, i try to write. and at the moment, im really doing good! i write drabbles almost daily, and i try to finish a chapter for my actual wip bi-weekly. which... i gotta admit doesnt work all the time but im trying! im just a shit ton of a procrastinator. like, sometimes it physically hurts telling myself i need to do something but not being able to get up and actually do it. i kinda zone out a lot too when im forced to sit through something boring or just when i cant listen to music/watch something at the same time. i fidget a lot, too. so basically as you can see im always doing something, always have something going on inside my head, am quite loud. like, literally, im the loudest person i know, except for maybe my dad, and im really expressive. could be italian with how much i gesture.

for my hobbies, well, ive told you about some of them so far. im not really... sporty. in the slightest. and i dont like sports either. but the one thing i do indeed like is badminton, which i do somewhat regularly. i think i'd suck at quidditch, but, unlike football, i do believe i'd be interested in watching. also i just really want to fly a broom - like, if i could pick any animal to be, i'd be a bird. always would have said so in the past too. maybe a cat, just because i really love them, and am planning to get one as soon as i get my own apartment. i'll take one from the shelter, i think, and if i could pick it'd be a black one so i can call it toothless. i do have a dog right now tho, or rather my family does. i love her, but she's not as cuddly as i'd like her to be, which, i mean, is fine im trying my best not to step over her boundaries, but then again my love language most certainly is physical touch, so my favourite moments with her are when she just allows me to cuddle her in front of the fireplace. its kind of a tradition at this point when theres fire in there. what else is there to say?

i guess im really insecure of some things. dont get me wrong, i know my strengths, and i fucking love correcting people, my ego is over the moon sometimes. im stubborn and i hate being wrong and i know that im obnoxious when i discuss, just because i cannot stop discussing if theres still something to discuss. but im trying to better, really. some of it at least. still, i am in fact really insecure it seems. i worry so much what people might think of me - i cant present anything to anyone other than my closest family or friends because my voice will start to shake and i will start to sound like im gonna cry. on the topic of that, i cry so so easily. its horrible, really. plus, i have huge anxiety and i get panic attacks regularly, which kinda fucks with my sleeping schedule because they always happen when i go to bed.

okay, but enough with the depressive shit, im not done talking about myself yet. if you let me talk about myself i can and i will write paragraphs. really, dont worry putting all of this into your response. just think of it as me being super happy youre doing this because, honestly, genuinely, i am.

but getting on with it. when im excited, im kinda... like a child, in a way. like i let out unnecessarily high pitched screams and i cant stop laughing when ive started, and i clap my hand in front of my mouth or shake my arms out. im just really, really emotional tbh.

my favourite feeling is melancholy though. its... beautiful, in a very terrifying way. its the kind of feeling you get when you think about your childhood, or old friends, or family members you dont see anymore. its a feeling but its so much more and - i dont know. i dont know how it couldnt be my favourite.

i love sunrises and sunsets and i love the sun in general. im a summer person, partly because im always really cold (my circulation in my hands and my feet is fucked lmao, plus my blood ran low on iron for a while) but like, its summer, i dont get how it cant be people's favourite. plus, my birthday is in june, and my birthday is my favourite holiday. with christmas following.

Well, my partner (as mentioned above) is a fairly new relationship. Not even a month yet new. And we went to this convention together! Anime midwest! And we were sitting out by the fountain in the area where cars pull in for drop offs and deliveries. And all i could think about was "this would be a perfect area for a first kiss" but i chickened out and thoughtit was too soon and what if they get weirded out and--- they still dont know.

So honestly? I think its good to have some insecurities. Like i think if everyone walked around thinking they were perfect all the time, there would be no growth as human beings, emotionally i mean. I have plenty of insecurities myself, BUT this reminds me of how many people ask me for fashion advice! I dress very alternatively and really adore my fashion style and ive yet to get a negative reaction from someone. Besides the point though, i once answered that question with "Wear what makes you want. If it makes you happy it looks good, and if someone's staring it means your hot." That just kinda randomly spewed out of my mouth and the person was like "wow thats kind of inspiring"

If i reeeeeally had to choose though, my elementary school (?) Art teacher. He not only helped me with the first art project i was ever proud of, he also would be playing guitar as we walked into class and when he stopped and we thought he was done and started clapping, hed start playing again. He even played behind his head if i recall correctly!

Idk if this is the MOST embarrassing bc memory bad but i was on my first date with my last ex, we were bowling and it was a double date with two of their friends. They get up to bowl and as theyre trying to head to the ball dispenser, i move to touch their butt as a joke (they didnt mind we were both v touchy) and they moved away right as i did so i missed and fell off the bench. They didnt even notice lol!

36. 3 dreams you want to fulfill?

I want a farm. Not any sort of big thing, just enough acres for a few animals, a nice garden, and some bees. And maybe a blacksmith workshop.

On that farm, i want a divination shop! Just a little building with a front room for supplies and such, but the main attraction are the two back rooms. Decked out with tapestries and blankets and pretty fabric decorating the walls and ceilings, super comy couches or chairs around a beautiful table where we host readings of all sorts. Tarot, rune, bone throws, ect.

As soon as the farm starts up this one will likely be done, but to fill the time between now and then (bc farm is end goal) id love to be a theatre costume designer! Head honcho would be best, but honestly I'll take any position sewing :)

Again, memory bad, but a good one is taking pictures of the highschool ex i thought i was gonna marry. I was in a photography class, and at the time planned on being a photographer professionally, so we ran around her neighborhood (she lived in a really nice area) and took pictures! Theres one of here where the sun speckles in and makes a bunch of "orbs" and it looks like shes surrounded by faeries.

I think the part of the reason I adore the traveler twins so much is that they are incredibly similar to my oc that I stole my name from fnfbdjf. Keese the oc started as a fill in character for any games with dialogue trees so I could play games with romance in them and try to make it feel less weird my role-playing a character who actually can feel romantic attraction, and I ended up getting very attached to them and making them a fully fledged oc, and their whole thing is traveling to different worlds and shit, and eventually I just started using their name for myself outside of video games and now I'm also Keese dmcmdhd. They and the traveler twins still have a lot of differences in motives and how their world travel works, but they still have a surprising amount of similarities and I think Keese the oc should get to meet them and baby talk the widdle baby world travelers, and then promptly warn them of the potential horrors of it all gncmdkdnc

oh my god this is hard. ok um. sure lets get into niche hobby drama. so context of like. im into ball jointed dolls. and there r basically two sides to people that collect them- the people who collect resin dolls and the people who collect vinyl ones. THE REST UNDER A CUT BC UM. I TYPED A LOT.

when u narrow in on the vinyl doll side of things, u have 2 companies that are MASSIVE:

Volks (who makes dollfie dream) (example to the left) and Smart Doll (example to the right):

so like. w that context. these dolls are like HUNDREDS of USD (the one on the right is over 500 USD and the one on the left is a limited one who like. god i do not wanna think abt the price but was prob about the same at retail) (this is a ton of context and im sorry if im like. mansplaining this or wtv i just wanna give enough context for my rant of rage). people are insanely stuck up about this, acting like oh this brand is WAY better when like. virtually it is VERY tiny differences (ie skin tone range, cost, quality, etc).

BUT. unpopular opinion time as i feel ive hopefully given enough context:

so people that own either of these are like. again. very acting as if you dont spend like. 400 to 500 dollars on a doll, that ur doll is like invalid (which sounds weird but the resin side of things has a similar problem and like it is SUCH a toxic hobby at times). theres a third company (and more but like. focusing on this third company for rn) involved called Parabox. their dolls are like half the price if not less, and literally. anyone ive seen that owns one just lets like. lambasted with "oh they're lower quality" etc. so like for context, i have held both and the poseability is not that different. smart dolls have like. a very very limited range of mobility for how much they cost. u would think they could like. charge ur phone or smth for how much they cost and how people act about them but the joints um. suck. big time. dollfie dreams like depend on the model but u have to like. yank the arm socket out for one of them to even get it to be double jointed (as in being able to touch the dolls face. if that makes sense. i hope im not like using over complicated terms or anything but im just like. going for it). with the parabox dolls, theyre double jointed w magnetic feet (which is not smth the other ones have). but people act as if theyre like lower quality or smth bc its like. an insanely elitist hobby of "oh you didnt spend 1k usd on a doll and instead bought one thats cheaper? u suck and i am excluding u". but people act like if you dont get the popular brands that you literally just might as well die and its such an unpopular opinion to like prefer the cheaper ones but um. people are literally insane in this hobby

Since Duke seems to be a fresh topic atm I wanna talk about him and the mid sodor cause its fun. It’s for sure gonna be a mashup of books and tv, and some of it is stretching since theres a ton of holes (mostly a ton of engines only hinted at or mentioned outside of stuff). Also keep in mind I do not like Duke so uh.. some bias there lol

First thing I wanna touch on is just how many engines the Mid Sodor Railway went through (keep in mind this is mainly coming from the wiki). Not Including Duke, SIr Handel, and Peter Sam, there were 12 other engines on the railway at some point. Which for 73 years isnt bad... except this a rather small railway. That’s 15 engines that we know of that was in the hands of the Mid Sodor.

And I’m gonna talk about ‘em all. Sorta... a lot of it’s kinda washy.

First I’m gonna briefly touch on the ones that dont really fit or are just so vague they exist but theres hardly any record of: Jennings, Alfred, Atlas, and John. Theyre all based on models Awdry had and were mentioned indirectly the books (very indirectly). Jennings has the most given theyre literally the same model as Dolgoch (smudger wasnt the first to be the same model as rheneas/dolgoch). Other than that, nothing is really known about any of them. No history. No dates. Just existence. Though obviously they were either sold, scrapped, or worse some other fate the railway decided for them.

The next pair I’m gonna talk about are Gerry and the Mine Engine. Gerry was built in 1919 so just before Peter Sam came along. The Mine Engine is the only without an official name outside of their title, they were built sometime in 1899. Though it isnt said when they arrived on Sodor. Neither of these engines have any records of what happened after the railway closed, though it is assumed they were either sold or scrapped. 

Albert, Jim, and Terry are three engines that are least known when they were sold (1936) when the railway was really stuggling but... with how theyre officially numbered (5, 6, and 7) it’s insinuated that theyre most likely bought after 1923. Around the time when the railway knew it was struggling. Honestly, I think they might’ve been bought in desperation or ignorance.

Now we’re gonna get into the more well known bunch, starting with Sir Handel, Peter Sam, and Stanley. First off, Stanley was built in 1917 and made into a pumping engine 1928. So both Peter Sam and Sir Handel would have known him. Which would most likely mean that Smudger would Duke’s go to story (more on that later). This also means there was probably another “number 2″ before Stanley given Sir Handel was number 3 (this could also insinuate there were multiple number 3′s as well). I’ll get more into their stories in a little while, I’m just setting the messy cast of engines.

The last bunch, Duke, Smudger, and Bertram, are an interesting bunch (kinda). Bertram has so little on him there’s not too much to say other than the railway most likely sold him to the mine given he was left there instead of sold or scrapped elsewhere. It is also noted that he seems to have the same build year as Duke though it’s most likely based on him being the same model as Duke. Smudger surpisingly doesn’t have a build year (or at least not officially that i could find). This makes his history very vague other than what’s told by Duke. 

Now Duke. Duke is the one to outlast them all (besides sir handel and peter sam technically). But why? Why this engine? Is he really such a saint that he wasn’t condemned? What makes all those other engines different? There’s no way in 73 years didn’t make any of the same mistakes the younger engines did. I mean, in one of the books he was struggling (from some leaking pipes) and he was praised as a hero. And Smudger and Stanley? Neither of who’s issues of staying on the rails were their fault, are literally condemned to rot and left behind.

Now, the railway’s favoritism towards Duke isn’t his fault. However, his reaction to it is.

Let me explain. So in Stanley’s story the entire reason he kept coming off the rails is because his class (a Baldwin 10-12-D) have a different gauge, and when he came to sodor he wasn’t gauged properly. Meaning Stanley literally could not help it. Smudger seems to be a similar case though it could be more along the lines of being cheaply and not well built. In either case they literally couldn’t help it. This is something the railway knew. 

Now, Duke is not ignorant of what’s going around him. He knows what happened more than anyone (with smudger especially). Yet he’s using Smudger’s story to scare the kiddies straight. Which is obviously ineffective when the engines can be sold or scrapped at the drop of the hat. Far more than on their sister railway.

On another note, I find really odd how long it took for Duke to be found. Especially how long it took for Peter Sam and Sir Handel to talk about him. Now I completely understand waiting to see if they’d move again, but the entire reason Duke came up in the books is because of Skarloey’s 100th birthday. There’s never even been a mention of him until now. Another point is long it took after that to find him. Duke, who’s supposedly had such a wonderful reputation that all the surrounding towns probably knew him (not to mention his personal crew) and not a single person knew at all where Duke might be. They have to guess where he might be. 

Duke was basically forgotten in 17 years. So instead of finding him in a few months or a few years, it took 15. That’s really odd for a supposedly loved and adored engine. 

Now am I being too harsh? Maybe. But I feel as an elder and a parental type figure you kind of need to be. Because even if he does care for Sir Handel and Peter Sam dearly, it does not make him a good person. There are several other older engines who have willingly shown guilt and laugh at how silly they were when they were younger, and several who still make mistakes and correct themselves. But Duke hasn’t gotten that. Not majorly and not enough.

Product of the times or not, Duke has many flaws and many issues that I find deplorable and personally aggravating.
