2. What's your total AO3 word count?

3. What fandoms do you write for?

BBC Merlin, Stranger Things, The Sandman, The Raven Cycle, and Lord of the Rings, and coming soon probably also Black Sails, let's be real

4. Top 5 fics by kudos?

Old Haunts (Are For Forgotten Ghosts), A Study in Choices and Second Chances, I Wouldn't Leave You If You Let Me, Still I Surface in Morning Light, and Fate Rests Heavily On Our Shoulders. I'm never not baffled by the fact that my two most popular fics not only are for HP, but are for Regulus/Harry. Like. That tag has maybe 100 fics???

5. Do you respond to comments?

Yes!! Sometimes it takes me a while but I'll tend to get around to them eventually <3

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

I think that's a toss-up between my my s5 Morgwen AU With Eyes Wide Open, and the one where I made the Diamond of the Day worse, watch all my bridges burn

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

This is such a difficult question because Angst with a Happy Ending is kind of my brand. That said, esp where Merlin is concerned, one thing I think about a lot is the inevitability of tragedy and how, no matter how many fix-its I write, personally I believe that most of them, if I didn't end them before the fact, would eventually end in some kind of tragic way, actually. Like. Very rarely is Merlin not immortal, or the world not against them, or or or. So in that vein I guess one of the happiest ones would be We Can Always Run because it's such an utter rejection of destiny, an utter refusal to even pretend they're playing the game.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

Very rarely, thankfully.

9. Do you write smut?

Occasionally, yeah! It's a constant process of pushing at my comfort zone tbh, but I do enjoy doing it (ha), so!!

10. Do you write crossovers?

Nope, it's just not really my thing, neither for writing nor reading. Obviously never say never but yk.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Unfortunately (don't do this).

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yes! Such a cool feeling, I love the thought of them existing in other languages in the world <3

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope; there have been and are a few plans for that floating around though 👀

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

This is so hard but in the end it gotta be merthur, like, because I love them to pieces but also just for the sheer amount of words I've written for them. Not sure if/how that would ever get topped, especially considering it's like, on-going.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

There's a bunch of HP WIPs I would have loved to finish, but I've fallen so utterly out of love with the fandom I don't really think it's ever going to happen at this point tbh.

16. What are your writing strengths?

Worldbuilding, plots/characterization, and prose; I think I'm solid in those and they come easily to me/bring me the most joy when writing. Editing, in a way, because I'm an obsessive bitch with a system about it.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Descriptions; I'm just not a very visual writer, which is not too huge of an issue when writing familiar characters and settings in fic, but becomes immediately and glaringly obvious whenever I 1. introduce non-canon stuff, or 2. have a go at OG. Also planning/outlining; I can make a bunch of notes but if I write an outline, I will not write the fic. I don't think it's necessarily a weakness, but it can make a bunch of additional work when it comes to the plottier stuff.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

Not the biggest fan tbh, which I know is probably controversial but odds that your audience will understand it are low if it's more than a bunch of words you can guess from the context? I prefer the ""dialogue," he said in Latin" approach. It's subjective though I get it.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Bandom RPF at like, 12 (not telling you which band peace and love). I took a long fandom hiatus until a couple of years ago though, and under this fandom alias it'd be HP/Tomarrymort.

20. Favourite fic you've ever written?

Still There Are Many Names In History, I think. I love a lot of stuff I've written, but that story has my entire heart in it, and the response to it has left me sobbing like. a ridiculous number of times which, like, is not something that I usually have to deal with lmao.

https://www.tumblr.com/olderthannetfic/725948065633255424/i-was-curious-where-do-you-think-the-line-is-when yeah, I am someone who will often mention in requests that I might see a particular character as a particular sexuality (e.g. “I tend to view Bob as gay, Alice as ace, Carol and Dave as straight, and everyone else I requested as bi” or something like that) but with a caveat that they don’t have to stick to either of those. I only insist on a particular sexuality if it’s canonical. There is one particular ship I have where I headcanon one as gay and one as bi and it’s a strong enough preference to ruin the story for me, but I find that there ways to get around that that don’t explicitly demand a writer portray them one way or the other. “Unrequested non-canonical sexuality headcanons” is one of them. Or “Alice showing attraction to men” can be a way to deal with that if you have a strong preference about a character NOT being into a particular gender (which I sometimes do with the aforementioned gay headcanon, as the actor for that character said something vague in an interview once that people took as them seeing the character as bi, so now a segment of the fandom acts like it’s “canon” that they’re bi and the only reason to not want to write them that way is biphobia, *sigh* I respect the actor a lot but also feel like if that was indeed the intention, it just did not come across in their performance. I’m bi myself, so I find the assumption that because I don’t see that character that way that I must be biphobic — especially when I hc their love interest just as strongly as bi — more than a little bit absurd, tbh!) Anyway, the thing about phrasing it as “showing attraction” is that the writer can still view Alice as into men; you’re just asking for that not to be depicted in this particular story. And if it’s a story that’s Alice/Emily or Alice-focused gen, it may not be particularly relevant in the first place.

Rei x Volo - No one who has spoken to me for more than 2 seconds is surprised about this one. I have an ongoing Fanfiction where they are the main couple and I am probably the biggest shipper of these two that I know of. Rarepair but they mean a lot to me in the specific context they have in the story I am writing. In any other interpretation it can definitely depend because Volorei is something a lot of people like to do in ways I can't get behind.

I tend to stick to just making my own Volorei content and just enjoying that but my friends also have started making content for them at times because they love me and like to see me lose my mind. I love them for it, y'all know who you are 😂

If you want to know more about why I ship this just go read Achilles Come Down (link in my pinned post) bc that is my 100,000 words and counting Volorei thesis paper.

Anyway Volorei is autism 4 autism to me and that should sum it up nicely

I really like this ship:

Adaman x Irida - Two young people leading rival clans who also are probably the only people with any real understanding of the pressures that puts on a person? Good shit good shit! They should yell at each other and then kiss about it. They should date in secret. They should be messy and lovestruck and it should affect the clan relations in ways they must deal with together.

Adaman x Rei - If I had to ship Rei with anyone who wasn't Volo it would absolutely be Adaman. I'd probably be cool with writing fanfic about them in the future but seeing as the next billion years will be taken up by writing Volorei in ACD it's too soon to say if that will happen.

Dawn x Irida - One of my friends ships this and has inducted me into the cult. Not something I would have thought of on my own but it's cute and if you've been following me I'm sure you've seen my art of it 😂 I prefer considering this interpretation as one of Dawn in the place of Akari bc Akari is aro ace to me.

Adaman x Melli - A ship full of any number of potentially hilarious situations. I actually really like it and I feel like there are actually some things that could be interpreted as canon feelings on Melli's end and I feel like that would be interesting to explore. Good luck Melli, go get your man!

Ginter x Tuli: THEY ARE MARRIED TO ME OK??? This is actually canon based on I said so.

Cogita x Ama: Ok this one is just Cogita x My fanfic oc but this is my list so I get to put it on here. Let the ridiculous sapphic woman get her awkward immortal gf ok? I mean it ends tragically in ACD but I still like them together so this is definitely my top Cogita ship.

I could get behind this:

Mai x Arezu - They both eat hot chips be bisexual and lie together. It's just so obvious how could they not be together? Needs more research.

Adaman x Volo - This is probably the only non Rei ship I would probably ever consider for Volo. Idk if I have any strong feelings about why or how it would work but they seem like two personalities that could be interesting together. Wouldn't seek it out or anything but maybe it wouldn't be so bad?

Cyllene x Cogita: Older ladies kissing? You have my attention.

Pesselle x any age appropriate girl: You know it!!! 🥺❤️ we must research the potential....

The Miss Fortune Sisters: Lesbian crime triad tbh. Absolutely Iconic for it.

I don't particularly like this ship:

Palina x Iscan - This ship held so much potential, especially as the only canon one, but overall it kind of disappointed me in practice. Iscan is just so cartoonishly afraid of ghost types it kind of makes him harder for me to like because they made it so much of his personality. If they'd been less heavy handed with it I'd probably like this couple more but I just end up feeling meh because I don't wanna see them interact more.

I feel like someone could convince me with a good fic where Iscan is treated like less of a complete coward though. There's nothing wrong with having fears or phobias but I guess I just didn't vibe with this particular portrayal of it. It's really too bad because the backstory they have together is so sweet and they are one of the ones I wanted to like the most but it just didn't end up happening. Iscan deserved better writing tbh.

Laventon x Cyllene - Cyllene just doesn't seem like she'd appreciate Laventon like he deserves. He's so nice to her and she just kinda brushes him off. I'm sure some people like ice queen type pairings and if you do you'd probably like it more than me but I want Laventon to have someone who acts just as happy to be with him as he would be with them.

Volo x Akari

Volo x Ingo

Volo x Emmet

Purely personal reasoning but I do what I can to avoid them. There's nothing wrong with them I just don't want to see it because all the characters here besides Volo I like to interpret as Aro/Ace and as an aro ace person myself it's just gonna be that way for some ships 😂 I also interpret Volo as a lot younger and the twins as a lot older than a lot of people so it's just not my thing based on that too.

It also feels weird that Volo x Emmet is as much of a thing as it is because Emmet is not in PLA. It makes it feel like more of a submas fandom thing than an actual PLA fandom thing so I honestly am pretty heavily dissociated from wanting to see it even more than with Ingo.

Volo x Cogita - While I know there's no official interpretation of their relationship I feel like too much points to both Cogita being way older than him (her having lines under her eyes/grey hair to indicate being older, her calling him "young man" to indicate she sees him in a much different age group than her) and potentially a direct ancestor of him herself (how similar they look in facial structure)

Now you could interpret things as they are the two unrelated people that got together to eventually have Cynthia and they are both immortals or whatever but it doesn't really seem that way to me and it kinda just doesn't vibe for me because of that. No shade if you disagree but it's not for me! They will always be dysfunctional family members in my eyes.

It’s completely fine to check in, but I have a very active life outside of the internet, so it may take me a handful of days at times to get a lengthier reply sent. I am completely fine with any length, when it comes to writing style; I do not write with people who use asterisks, but, as for how long replies are—let me know what you’re feeling, and I’m happy to match it!

I do not, and will not ever, write any content that is illegal or morally questionable; very specifically speaking, I will not write topics that involve ||pedophilia, or incest.|| This is non-negotiable.

I bet you thought this was over, but surprise! I wanted to do one more of the muses that got votes because this was fun lmao. Warning for a brief non-sexual and non-descriptive mention of self-harm.

Right now I'm not going with Jer.emike or any other ship being necessarily default canon ( this may change who knows ), so honestly Michael by default doesn't get much experience romantic or sexual prior to getting, y'know, scooped.

Assumptions based on the alt clothing, piercings, and his sadly horrendous reputation ( which i need to go into detail abt sometime ) mean ppl tend to assume he's open to casual sex / very sexually active. This is incredibly wrong.

I think around 3-3.5 years. It was KHR fandom, I think I was 12-15.5 back then. But clamp fandom would probs be my longest since I'm at around 3 years now

Yes and that's actually why I prefer non popular fandoms. I used to be in naruto fandom, more specifically sns ship subfandom and I lasted there for couple months before I actually started disliking the ship. Solely based on association with how vile fandom was.

Countless shipwars, top vs bottom discourses in holy year of 2022, attacking other ships, making analysis posts full of bias and mental gymnastic, countless antis (look, I don't even ship naruhina or sasusaku, but the hate those ships got under pretense of "criticism" created negative energy in fandom; ffs some sns shippers use sasusaku as a slur :/), attacking artits and fanfic writers within fandom for bs, demanding everything is IC and making callout posts for anyone interpreting characters in OOC way and so on.

Last straw for me was when I saw some anon being attacked for saying they personally see nothing romantic between sasuke and naruto but get why people ship them. I sort of tried to defend that person by saying "hey, ship isn't explicitly stated as canon, it's up for interpretation and someone seeing it as platonic or QPR isn't necessarily a homophobe or ass too deep in their heteronormative mindset" - and OP wrote few k long post how I lack critical thinking ability, am causing oppression for gay men irl (hello???), may not be homophobic but should reevaluate why I don't see sns as romantic and basically told me I have my ass too deep in heteronormativity if I can't see "uwu best love story ever written"

So yes, I was so done with sns fandom after that. I doubt other parts of naruto fandom are any better tbh.

Beside that cursed fandom I tend to avoid bsd fandom nowadays since it's swamped by younger fans, more precisely tiktokers. I liked it back in 2016-2017 when it was less popular, but fandom got too fluffy, shipy and dictating for my liking. Also the way characters get misinterpreted makes me cringe so much

I think the thing with shipping is that being told the characters love each other or not isn’t often the point, at least for me! like its the dynamic that’s interesting and especially in fandom stuff you can just see its development from there. like most non canon ships don’t ever get to being *explicitly* in love anyway.

so to that purpose it doesn’t make much of a difference to me that alina loves mal. I was trying really hard to root for malina and I did like it a lot for most of book one. but him being really cruel to her when she sees him at the fete, paired with how unwilling to treat her with like any good faith or understanding in book two.

I ended up really enjoying their dynamic in the third book actually, and the tragedy of mal sacrificing his life. but the ending, paired with the earlier stuff did mean that my negative feelings still outweigh the positive. and like at the end of the day, I just find other alina pairings more interesting.

the ending is mostly the crux of it tbh. because like the first book has alina holding back and refusing to be her own person because of mal. and while her being under the darkling’s influence is bad, it’s narratively implied that some degree of letting go is necessary for her to grow. and the conflict of having mal vs having her powers is first introduced. and then by book two we keep getting acknowledgement that they’re making each other miserable and would probably be happier apart. and the main conflict driver is alina’s power and position. then by book three, even though they have reached (a really sweet imo!) sort of acceptance and synergy, the narrative question of mal vs alina’s power comes back in full force where she has to kill him to get more power, and how that then becomes reversed to him being resurrected and her losing her power entirely. and while in-universe the loss of her power isn’t treated like a trade off, and I really don’t think bardugo meant it that way, narratively it feels like one because of how it’s been built up as an either/or question for so long. and juxtaposed next to the beginning of her arc in book one: where she was refusing to become her own person because of mal, it just ends up feeling like a large scale regression. which again I don’t think that was the intent! but it ends up leaving a bad taste in my mouth. and it’s just too analogous with like quitting your job/ending all career dreams for a high school boyfriend. so I just personally can’t get into it. which is why, to me, it’s like alina sure does love mal, but at what cost lol.

with zoyalina I think it’s kind of just the hyper focus on each other that a rivalry implies? and also that alina spends SO MUCH page time talking about how hot zoya is. like it’s probs leigh bardugo trying to make sure the reader objectively knows. but with a 1st person pov it just ends up like alina is just stopping to stare at zoya every time she steps into the room and just constantly internally monologuing about just how hot she is. and I think the arc of disliking each other a lot —> falling in love is again just fairly interesting. there’s more ground to cover so it’s fun!

and to an extent I agree a lot with your point about nikolai being allowed to give up artifice and just live his life! I think thematically I just *personally* felt like alina embodied that more as a character. because wanting nothing to do with the performance of court life is like half her personality. and I think nikolai could learn from that?

zoya absolutely represents this for him too but I think with her also being rather ruthless about strategy and willing to sacrifice happiness (ie being with nikolai herself) to make the more politically expedient decision, she just ends up overlapping with him a little? like they go through very similar arcs. and there’s nothing wrong with that and I absolutely see the appeal there too! I just tend to personally prefer the starker contrast I see with nikolina.

I’m sorry this got so long 😭😭 anyway again, I did like zoyalai a lot! they’re very fun and I love them! 🤍🤍

oh i think we differ in views of shipping. for me, i usually ship something when i like the content shown right in front of me. especially since it's a book, i tend to prefer ships whose dynamic and relationship give me quotes and scenes i like, if that makes sense. but it is very interesting to think of what could've been if the author did something differently and how that may be appealing. i just don't ship that way! if i like what's in front of me, i'll take it. if i don't, then i don't. and i don't particularly see anything wrong with malina. can't you tell i'm a canon shipper, it's awful

again, you ship non canon, i don't tend to, and that's alright! also, i don't recall their relationship in book two, i feel like there are people who could defend them more than i can. so i won't comment on it. but i will say that i saw this post somewhere, i'd like to give credit but i can't find it, saying that mal suffers from ptsd. he watched his friends mikhael and dubrov die. and he could have been suffering from survivor's guilt. i think it's important to acknowledge this because his trauma affected him so much, and many people just ignore that. and it's hypocritical when we acknowledge kaz's trauma and how that affects his relationship with inej but we don't really talk about mal's. and mal is a teenager, and he's gone through horrible stuff, his way of dealing with it wasn't the best, but what should we expect? he shouldn't have had to deal with any of that, especially at such a young age.

i mostly agree with this. how do i word this? she did need to let go of mal to let her powers grow and develop but i think the hesitancy towards it was because she loved mal and didn't want to be separated from him. this was, after all, what hindered her from being found out a grisha when they were kids. it was definitely because of mal but it wasn't his fault. i don't have a strong liking towards their dynamic but this shows alina truly loves him (i've said this argument so many times already but it's true) and i just want for her to be happy. i'll continue this down below.

i don't recall that part about them making each other miserable, i must have forgotten it. what i do remember is that mal gave so much to be with and support alina. and they're both teenagers, we know how teenagers are. i think it's valid that they experienced some negative emotions, because they've both been through so much, and they shouldn't have had to deal with the situations they were facing. but they still stayed together and made up in the end. so i think if we account for the circumstances, i don't really see a big issue with it. but again, this hugely depends on perspective and just how you see it.

the topic of alina giving up her powers is sort of a sore spot for the fandom. many people hate that decision. but i personally agreed with it? i think it was the best course of action to take, imo. i think alina was getting greedy with her power, she wanted more. and she did need more to defeat the darkling, but we also did read about her internal struggle fighting the temptation of power. how she didn't think she would ever stop wanting more if she had it. i personally agree with leigh that alina needed to lose her powers. it isn't choosing between mal and becoming her own person for me. i think it was more of teaching that power is addicting. once you have it, you'll always want more. we can see this reflected in society. and that no one should ever have so much power alone. because even the most kind-hearted people will struggle. the bittersweet part for me was how they had to live in secret, but i really think it was for the best that she lost her powers.

(i just realized while proof-reading this that i didn't counter you and basically just said what we both probably thought. so on brand for me. but i never really perceived it that way. i think it was more of doing what was necessary and giving her a happier ending (for choosing to do the right thing? idk). but i do get where you're coming from. leigh probably didn't intend to make it seem that way but it does.)

1: sexuality headcanon: Interestingly enough, my headcanons for JP and EN Edelgard differ.

For EN Edelgard, bisexual with a strong preference for women.

For JP Edelgard, however, pansexual. Did you know that JP Edelgard is the only major character in JP FE3H whose lines are exactly the same, no matter if you play as Bereto (m!Byleth) or Beresu (f!Byleth)? That's pretty much proof that her feelings are based on Byleth as a person and are independent of gender. Hence the pan headcanon.

2: otp: Oooh, Edelthea is my favorite! Though I also enjoy Edeleth as well~

3: brotp: Hubert, hands down. I mean... it's pretty blatantly clear how much they mean to each other. And in fact, their JP supports together with their paired ending seriously gives me strong queerplatonic vibes.

4: notp: Hubert - I mentioned it elsewhere, but my strongest brotps also tend to be my strongest notps. True, Ferdibert is my one FE3H monoship, making conflicting ships 'technically notp by default', but this specific pair draws a very strong reaction from me precisely *because* I see them as queerplatonic or an extremely close platonic pair.

I should note that this is all with JP conversations in mind. The JP supports mention 'strong feelings', but the charge and target of said feelings were left open ended. So while you could read the charge as romantic and the target as Edelgard, it is far from explicit or definitive. Meanwhile the EN localization took away all the nuance and ambiguity and explicitly declared a charge and target. I could go on forever about localization issues, but I'd be here all day >.>

5: first headcanon that pops into my head She's such a strong romantic, even if she hides it. Well... that part is canon, but small things like loving romance-driven media is my HC!

6: favorite line from this character Oh, I adore JP Edelgard - her softer personality (relative to EN Edelgard, at least) just shines in these subtle ways. A personal favorite is from the JP Edelthea A support. Here is the EN line, the JP line, the transliteration, and my translation of the JP line in italics:

Don’t you see? No story about me would be complete without the character of Dorothea. わからない？私の物語には、貴方ガ必要だもの。 [Wakaranai? Watashi no monogatari ni wa, anata ga hitsuyo da mono.] You don’t understand? In my story, you are irreplaceable.

Indirect, non-explicit confessions of love are extremely popular in Japanese. "The moon is beautiful, isn't it?" (tsuki ga kirei desu ne) is the most famous example of this. With the surrounding context and unspoken subtext, this is pretty much a confession of love.

There are a few details that help - 'hitsuyo' translates as 'essential', 'necessary', 'vital', or 'indispensable'. Also, while 'monogatari' means 'story', JP Edelgard is also talking about her life in this context - I settled on 'irreplaceable' because it fits 'hitsuyo' and the tone.

7: one way in which I relate to this character Being a secret romantic? Pfft totally me. Though my 'secret' nature is only the case IRL. To those who know me online? Super obvious lol

8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character Tbh... I'm having a little difficulty thinking of an obvious answer here.

9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? As much as I love Edelgard, I do have to say 'both' - I can't quite discount her actions, after all. But on her personality alone, she's absolutely a cinnamon roll - both versions of her, too~

What are your favorite ships and tropes?

Ships depend on whatever my current hyper-fixation is lol. I tend not to ship canon ships unless it's Disney for some reason, since that does seem to be the one thing they're really good at. I've been an avid Zutara and Shadamy shipper my whole life so that hasn't changed. I tend to prefer non-canon ships, especially in anime (Aluseras, Narkik). I could go on and on about my favorite non-canon ships tbh lol.

My favorite trope is enemies-to-lovers (or just two people who strongly dislike/don't trust each other at that start). I'm an avid TVTropes user but I couldn't really tell you any others that I could easily point out and say is my favorite.

Yuletide Letter | 2022 edition

Dear Yuletide author,

First, thanks so much for playing in the Yuletide sandbox with me this year! This is my fourth year doing this and I am incredibly excited! My most sincere wish is that you have fun with whatever you decide to gift me. I trust that I’ll love whatever you come up with. :)

Fandoms:

Dark Rise, Monk and Robot, Peter Darling, Spiritfarer, Scholomance, and Majora’s Mask

Over all, I’m pretty sure that I’ll be happy with whatever you decide to throw at me. I’m not particularly picky, and enjoy a variety of ratings, themes, and genres. I have a list of over 2000 bookmarks on Ao3, which could potentially give you a glimpse into the things I like if you’re still unsure after this letter.

General flavors that I enjoy: I really love atmospheric settings, stories that you can really feel. A great example of this is A Cornstalk Fiddle. Or wild peaches. Or you know, the entirety of every Miyazaki film I’ve ever watched. I do enjoy alternate universes in almost every variation, from soulmates to daemons to canon divergence (I really like canon divergence). I’m super fond of slow burns, though it’ll be hard to convey that in a yuletide gift unless you’re REALLY inspired and/or bored and decide to make it 20k+.

I like how introducing sex to a story changes various character dynamics, and I really, really like the sexually/emotionally charged lead up, but when it really comes down to it, I’m reading the story for the characters.

Angst without a happy (or bittersweet) ending

Dark Rise

I’ve just been thirsty for Will and James content since I finished the book a year ago. I think their dynamic (and of course, potential for angst/drama/etc) is fantastic. The book had me by the throat with that game of stabbing chicken and honestly only ramped up from there. I would love something in James POV, tbh. Getting a glimpse into his headspace would be great. I would also love some Violet if you’re up to that, as her arc may have been one of my favorites. Also - James and Violet interaction. Would just... really love something where they’re forced to work together or just interact, especially if Will isn’t there for the scene. If you decide to go smutty, there honestly aren’t many kinks that I’m not at least willing to explore except for the few that I’ve listed above. I also wouldn’t mind some kind of canon divergent soulmate/daemon AU? I think that would twist their dynamic in interesting ways.

Monk and Robot series

This book did the thing - it watered my crops, cleared my pores, etc. etc. I love the dynamic of every single character in this series. I love the sweetness, the slow “love letter to humanity” that Becky Chambers is just so great at conveying. I love Mosscap, so enthusiastic to learn, and Sibling Dex, who is mostly tolerantly going along for the ride, but learning a little something along the way. I love the tea shop! I love that Sibling isn’t sure if that’s what they want to do. I love how the book allows you to just be human, even if you’re you know, not human. Honestly would love any content you give me. Something post-series, exploring a future between humanity and the robots, something exploring Mosscap and Sibling Dex’s friendship through the years. Heck, if you want to go crazy, you can explore the backstory and really utilize that worldbuilding tag. I just really want something that makes me feel the way that book did, soft and wonderfully human.

Peter Darling

My dude. My friend. I just, would love something with these characters. Something sweet and fluffy post-canon, or something sexy. Maybe both! Maybe neither! Something exploring their backstory! Something taking place during the story! Canon divergent AU? I am seriously up for anything. I just want to see them together.

Spiritfarer

In a similar vein to nearly all of the above... I just really want something exploring the characters. I would in general love it to be centered around Stella, but it can feature any of her friends. I think that Summer was my favorite, followed by Gwen. Daria’s story really tugged on my heartstrings, and so did Alice’s. But honestly? Anything. Give me a day in the life. The feel of the ship underfoot, the sun on Stella’s shoulders. The sound of Atul’s flute, the rustling of the crops. What is Stella’s favorite part of the day? Does she ever cook for her guests and have a big sit down dinner? Does her mind turn off perfectly when fishing? How soft is that sweet baby kitty’s fur? Seriously. Anything. I loved this game.

Scholomance

I think that I would prefer something in El’s POV, because I genuinely really loved her character. I loved her heart and how she tried so very hard to be good at every turn. I loved her friendships (and more than friendships) with all of the girls and would love something in the aftermath of the third book involving them building the world into a better place. You can definitely give me something shippy, as I’m completely supportive of both of her more intimate relationships, and could get behind any theoretically ones. I would uh, not mind a canon divergent AU where she lets herself be “collected” by Alfie and Liesel, because that is definitely all kinds of my jam. Post-canon canon divergent AU where she (SPOILERS) wasn’t able to save Orion maybe? Or heck, if that night had gone a little differently and they didn’t have to escape the London enclave. Alternatively, I think it would be really interesting to get into Orion’s head. I’m more El included, so if you go this way I’d prefer she still be involved, but I just think his POV could just be a treasure trove of angst and love and pain.

Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask

I just love this game, okay. This is possibly my favorite game, the game of my heart. I love everything about it, but perhaps its atmosphere most of all. Slow and just kind of spooky, with this sense of eeriness that just keeps getting more creepy as the days go by. You could give me something in Link’s POV, a day (or three days) in the life, the sense of anxiety and dread seeping in those first few runs. The strangeness of seeing the same people over and over again, The odd quiet of Clock Town on that last day. Alternatively, you could give me something from an outsider’s POV - Kafei, Cremia, the Rosa sisters. Whoever you’re most intrigued by. If you decide to go shippy, I actually have a huge weak spot for Kafei/Link, particularly if it’s of the fiercy diety Link variety. Even if you don’t go shippy, I do legitimately love Kafei as a character and would love to see him. But again, I’ll take whatever you feel like throwing me.

a bit of a ramble about my body, gender, and general appearance headcanons for them bcuz someone sent me a curiouscat prompting this 3k words of hyperfixation nonsense

Komaeda:

- He has a naturally lithe body, with a thin waist, broad shoulders and hips, which give him an hourglass. and a rather andrognyous body, which is "lucky" for him, because I hc him as nonbinary and gender non-conforming

- Gender-wise, as I said, I think he's nonbinary. Usually I do view Nagito as AMAB but I indulge in transmasc Nagito from time to time depending on my preference and how much I wish to uh, well, project, lol. But either way I think he would use he/they pronouns in a western sense. In japanese, however, they don't use third person pronouns that other people refer to them with, and in canon he uses the first person pronoun "boku", which is a "soft" masculine pronoun, in comparison to the "hard" masculine pronoun, “ore” (which Hajime uses btw!) which fits quite nicely, in my opinion! Also, in Japanese, you can be 'fluid' with your first person pronouns depending on the situation, so I think he could use more neutral or feminine pronouns should he desire it, too, to play on his gender non-conformity.

- Komaeda is very secure in his gender, regardless of being AMAB or AFAB. He does not care about stigma, or discrimination, he does not care about being "accepted" by broader society. Broader society is sort of meaningless to him, the average person and their ideas about gender and presentation and effeminity mean NOTHING to him. Whether or not a random person the street genders him correctly or treats him with respect is sort of, pointless? Because to him, most ordinary people are pointless nobodies. Their thoughts do not matter to him. I think he is still prone to insecurity, however, when around his "betters" but I just struggle to think he would degrade himself in regards to gender. to him, it's the least of his problems. what he cares about is hope and talent. He could dress femininely or wear makeup or straight up crossdress and not mind it, really. He thinks people would find a problem with it are the problem, because why does it even matter? It speaks to the way Komaeda is detached from societal norms & "normal" people, he did not grow up in normal circumstances, so he doesn't interact with the world normally by any means. he can mask and act normally to the best of his ability, often unintentionally?, but he simply does not fit into broader society and doesn't seek to.

- Komaeda loses weight really easily, and doesn't gain weight that well. This is mainly due to his many illnesses but also the medications he's been put on. He has a low appetite and burns weight rather easily, even though I headcanon that he eats like garbage (mainly junk food & takeout, since he obviously cannot cook). This makes him overall, health wise, not very healthy, and stick thin because of it. A stiff breeze could knock him over, tbh.

- He has a lot of faded scars, self-inflicted or not.

- Pre-despair (in HPA) he is fairly healthy but still lithe, and progressively his body deteriorates through his 2 years of hopes peak before the Tragedy begins.

- During the Tragedy itself, his body is at it's worst. he is almost nothing but bone at times, barely kept together by a need to live so he can see hope triumph. His weight fluctuates but he's very unhealthy. He's not anorexic or on death's door, but he's not well off, either.

- After being put into the neo world program, right after waking up, he's very, very thin and gaunt. he was in a pod on feeding tubs for an indiscernible but at least probably a month's worth of time? So he's just very weak, like he could collapse if he moves too quickly.

- But a while after waking, he goes into remission, and starts to gain more healthy habits due to being rehabilitated and cared for by Hinata, and gains some weight, finally at a healthy, normal weight. I still think he would struggle with putting on too much weight, but I am slightly fond of the idea that he gets a bit of healthy pudge after a while. To him, it's so foreign being healthy, that he honestly think something's wrong with him at first.

Hinata:

- Hinata has a very... average body, true to form. His hips and waist aren't too pronounced but he has a loosely "hourglass" shape, too, just not as exaggerated as Komaeda's in comparison.

- Gender-wise, I am EXTREMELY fond of transmasc Hinata. While I think I portray AMAB Hinata more than transmasc Hinata (in art and writing), I still firmly prefer transmasc Hinata. The reason I think portray otherwise more is just out of comfortability, but I've been getting better at comfortably portraying FTM Hinata. I have some reasons I prefer it and think you can extrapolate it from canon, but let's get into that

- Hinata, in my eyes, has an arc and story that fits perfectly into him just. Being trans. His desire to be someone else, someone better, someone he can proud of, and the way he overcompensates for himself and has an extreme inferiority complex would easily lend to him having similar feelings about his gender. To me, Hinata is a trans man who overperforms his masculinity out of insecurity and a need to pass. I see him as someone who would strictly use "he/him" in a western sense, which is lended to by his use of the "ore" pronoun in canon, which is almost hypermasculine.

- Even if he were AMAB, I think it still works, I think he's still someone who's insecure and tries to assert himself more strongly and therefore performs masculinity in a way to appear more confident than he is.

(side note: I actually read a bit about queerness in Japan and how it relates to gender performance and the use of pronouns, and read a bit about how queer women in japan tend to use "boku" and "ore" to perform masculinity, which I find neat. “Ore” was also sometimes used exclusively to show anger and dominance, which is why it's categorized as a "rough" pronoun. I think Japanese language, gender, and expression, and how those all relate to one another, are extremely interesting and if you get the time you should read about it lol)

- Body-wise, pre-despair, I think Hinata would. not have top surgery, obviously. I think he has a fairly average but leaning a little on the hefty side chest (pre-op) and binds it, hence the '91 cm' (but also he still has 91 cm post-op because bazongas). I also just think he leans on the "twunk" side of things at this point, not buff but not stick thin or without muscle, just kind of average with average strength and all, though I think Hinata would've tried to do sports and stuff to find his talent so he's in shape :)

- My personal, kind of amusing, but also kind of... thematical? Headcanon, is that during the Kamukura project, he also underwent gender transition. to be honest, while it may not make sense in modern Japan, I think we can suspend our disbelief for fiction, and also make the argument that Hinata's "transition" into Kamukura CAN be read, in some part, as relatable or at least familiar to the trans experience. Iit is not out of the realm of possibility, either, to assume that because many bits of society in Danganronpa are advanced (specifically science, is extremely ahead of our understanding, almost sci-fi like at times) certain attitudes about gender and sexuality can be smoothed over more in a Japanese context.

(side note: I also think that science-wise, we can suspend our disbelief, and assume that top surgery and bottom surgery are much more advanced in this universe, given the almost unbelievable levels of science in Danganronpa, such as memory wipe, mind control, completely realistic virtual simulation, um literally everything about Kamukura which is body modification and brain modification to an extreme, etc. I think it's kind of fitting within these to assume that... Hinata/Kamukura could just, gain a functioning penis, lol)

Kamukura:

- Kamukura would have a. "Perfect" body. it's stated, I'm pretty sure, that they modified not only his brain but his body, because he needs to be able to perform every talent under their belt with ease, and his strength, instincts, technique, are all superhuman. So it's clear to me he'd have a buff body. toned muscles and all. He wouldn't really feel a need to keep it up, though, but I think since they're very... artificial (basically fucking steroids?) they wouldn't fade from a lack of keep-up.

- Kamukura also rarely ever is injured, but when he does, his body heals rather fast and can care for himself adequately, because again, his body is modified to a point of almost inhumanity.

- Gender wise, Kamukura genuinely does not care. however, I am not one to think that Kamukura is "a different person" from Hinata, rather, he is separate from Hinata, but an extension of Hinata as well, proven that he experiences some of his emotions even if subconsciously and without understanding them. he isn't a different personality or person developed in Hinata's body, but a very traumatizing, repressed, and manipulated version of Hinata given a new name, with memories repressed. He's like Theseus's ship in human form---if you get rid of everything that makes someone themselves and replace it, bit by bit, is it the same person? Technically, yes, but... truly? Who knows.

Because of this, I think Kamukura would have a leaning toward masculine gender performance (in canon, in fact, he uses the soft masculine pronoun "boku" in stead of "ore" like Hinata) BUT I think he is still very nonbinary. In a western sense, i think he would use he/they pronouns, but not really care if someone mistook him for a woman, I suppose.

- His appearance, unironically, is very nonbinary or "he/they" to me because he's wearing a suit, the archetypal form of masculinity, but has extremely long hair, which is considered feminine, and speaks softly (dully). Of course, the bishounen "pretty boy" appearance isn't uncommon or considered less masculine in japan, I think, but there is still a different between soft masculinity and rough masculinity in japan, which lends itself to being interpreted sort of gender non-conforming by western audiences :)

- Kamukura, due to his apathy, struggles with self-maintaining, but as we all probably know i am extremely attached to KamuKoma and thus headcanon that Servant helps him, sort of like a royal servant would royalty in the old days, take care of himself by bathing him, brushing his hair out, grooming him, etc. partially out of duty, partially out of appreciation for Kamukura's body, and partially out of maintaining his sort of "perfect" look since Kamukura, especially post-Junko death, is perceived widely by the public as the new leader of the ultimate despair, even if he is ambivalent to such a title.

Post-DR3 Hinata/Kamukura combined:

As I rambled on about previously, I don't think that Kamukura and Hinata are separate people or personality, I really dislike the interpretation that they are like a "split personality" or operate like DID, because they do not "form" like DID, but also in canon, are not portrayed as separate people.

In post-dr3, Hinata instead says that he is both of them, because he is. Kamukura is Hinata, always was, but had been given a new, false identity, had been stripped of his previous self, his memories, his personality, and crafted into something new. but that did not "split" his brain into two people. It simply repressed who he once was, and made him someone he now was. But when Kamukura regains his memories, his past self, through the means of the new world program by restoring his own memories after SDR2 concludes and he wakes up, as well as doing the same for everyone else, he decides to be "Hajime Hinata" who he always was, but carrying and shouldering the weight of what "Izuru Kamukura" had been, become, and done. Hinata *is* Kamukura, he answers for Kamukura's wrongdoings, his crimes, as something he had done as a different person who's mind operated differently, due to being artificially suppressed, modified, into an apathetic tool for the scientists who made him, and later and aimless, bored individual who simply sought meaning he did not have in the unknown of what despair would be at it's climax. And if hope could overcome it.

As such, I think, when Hinata's self is brought back into the mix, and he now deals with Kamukura's apathy and boredom in part, but much less consuming and much less often, I think hinata is less staunchly "masculine", does not overperform it anymore, and is trying to understand what his past means to him, what his present is, and what his future will be. I think that Hinata would still primarily use he/him (or still use "ore" in Japanese, as it's also a means of his personality, which is a bit rough around the edges and blunt), but be more ambivalent to rigid gender expression, still finding comfort and idealness in masculinity, but not be made dysphoric or feel frightened, uncomfortable, with non-comformity or anything like that. being boyish, masculine, is what he enjoys, but he's comfortable in it now, doesn't need to prove himself or overperform it. He can explore nonconformity without feeling like his gender or masculinity is at threat, even if it's not his preference outright.

Body-wise, I think it's safe to say he retains Kamukura's muscle and all, but Kamukura didn't put much effort into the everyday machinations of being a human being in general, and Hinata is much more fond of food than him now, eats more often, and I enjoy the idea that he gains a little pudge and has a kind of "dad bod" almost, post-DR3? lol.

Both for Hinata and Kamukura I don't see their bodies as “bara” or overly buff, masculine, but a kind of comfortable middle ground between twunk and hunk, lmao. I think they're also averagely hairy, not overly so, very lightly. kind of well groomed, and all. Hinata, pre-despair, put not so much effort into his appearance but still some, especially in trying to pass. (In fact I think his hair cut looks like a home job, all choppy and stuff, which fits him in my opinion, something done by his own hands even if messy and imperfect, he still prefers to be in control of it. also fits the trans headcanon tehe).

Izuru put very little if any effort into himself, only the bare minimum necessary to function, but servant helped him upkeep it to a perfect standard. Hinata, post-dr3 now, finds himself putting you know, an average amount of care into himself and his body, enough to be healthy, but not overly critical and conscious of himself.

Komaeda i have always seen as someone who takes a good deal of care about himself, merely if to alleviate the "disgust" of his appearance and body, by practically preening himself. He is someone who is good at cleaning and seems to appreciate clean and well kept spaces, so I think he would have a similar attitude toward himself. even if he is insecure, and of course, struggles with mental health and may slip at times in his routine in keeping himself well-kept, I think he still maintains an appearance for the most part, at least in his later years (teen to young adult). An argument can be made that he cared less in his adolescence because he had much more apathy about the world, but when he gave himself a purpose with hope and talent, I think he would care for himself a little better, even if his was spiralling mentally.

His hair is always washed, it is just very curly and prone to mess, so it often looks like perpetual bedhead, even when he combs and brushes it. His skin is soft even if a little worn by his tendency for accidents & injury, it's still soft and almost luckily so, and he takes pride in moisturizing and cleaning himself. His skin is a little sickly, still, and I think that despite having blemishes, scars, etc. Komaeda manages to look pretty in a strange way, not conventionally beautiful, but almost ethereal? He's just *pretty*, there's no way to explain it, he is nice to look at even with all his "flaws" and imperfections. Even when he's sickly and bony, even when his cheeks are gaunt or his hands shaky and weak, when his hair is a tangled mess or his clothes are dirty, he's nice to look at in a way that's nonconventional, and it's sort of mesmerizing.

Hinata I think is very average but also in a way that's nice to look at it. He's not ground-breaking hot or conventionally attractive, he has a good body, a nice face, and hair you could play with a little if you wanted. I think what's appealing about him is his normalcy, he's not trying too hard or "gifted" gene wise, but he's just kinda nice to look at, he's enjoyable to be around, an understanding person, or at least tries to be even when he fails, and despite having flaws, insecurities, blunt, he is someone you're drawn to because he's one of those people that's just, easy to talk to? An emotional anchor, almost. The kind of guy everyone kind of knows and has talked to at least once, even if you're not friends with him personally, not because he's cool or popular or anything, but because he's a normal dude who's easy to trust and talk to.

Kamukura, on the other hand, is intimidating, appearance wise and personality wise. he looks, strange, anything but normal, his eyes are red and his hair is this dark cloud that envelops him. His face may still be that plain one Hinata has but faces can be changed by the surrounding attributes as well as expression and such is true for him, with his apathetic and cold expression as well as otherwordly characteristics, he comes off as much more beautiful in a dark way, kind of? In a way that's intimidating or a little daunting, but he's still very beautiful. mesmerizing.

Boy, do I have a lot to say when a saw this (from a Romione shipper):

Let’s break it down

No offense to any guy that follows my account.

A common translation when using “no offense” before you make a statement is: “I’m about to hurt your feelings but let’s pretend I didn’t.” And in the end, they do indeed, because what they are basically saying is that most men are complete dunderheads when it comes romance (and, no, I’m not meaning we men act awkward or oblivious when we are in a relationship with someone). More on this later…

I am sure not all men are the same.

Wow, really? What a profound statement! Kudos to you for realizing that we aren’t robots. Oh wait, you’re just saying as a weird way an attempt to compliment the male Romione followers you have because the next thing you say:

Most men don’t like our ship.

Most men, or most people in general don’t ship fictional ships in general. There’s a real world out there and the world doesn’t revolve around HP ships. If I asked my dad or sister (both ignore/avoid nerdy things) whether they preferred Harmione or Romione, I’d simply get shrugs and eye rolls as a response since they don’t care. Also, I’ve seen a lot of women dislike the ship too. You know, I dislike the ship because of how Hermione treats Ron. Females that tend to dislike Romione because of how Ron treats Hermione. So why aren’t they mentioned here too? Is it just the fact that since you have a low opinion on Harmione and a low opinion on males’ thoughts and feelings that you found it relevant to make these assumptions? Maybe. And, yes, I’m not a fan of Romione. JKR had this bad deal in the books with the only way someone had feelings for the other person through jealousy, and that became really annoying to me. Also, as of late, I do like the main male character paired up with the female main character because it generally makes sense if authors go that way correctly. I recently read the first book of The Blue Lagoon trilogy, which is categorized as a romance novel, which it shouldn’t. Regardless of the lack of romance in that, Emmaline and Dick make more sense than the canon pairings in the Harry Potter series. What are Harry and Ginny without quidditch? What are Ron and Hermione without fighting/bickering? Bottom line is, we don’t really see either of the two hanging out, or it’s just very vaguely described. And that’s my issue with the romance in HP.

They like Harry/Hermione.

Or Lunarry, Haphne or Flowerpot, or even Harry/OC. Exploration of a relationship is a fun part of FanFiction. I’m not a fan of Luna. Haphne is an OC to me, Flowerpot is ok, but not every fanfic author writes Fleur with a French accent like in the books, and Harry/OC is where the actual self-insertion takes place. So, if I had to choose between these and Harmione, I choose Harmione Harmione is more popular than other non-canon HP ships because they have more foundation in canon. One thing I have learned reading fanfic is that the romance progresses pretty fast, and I’m not a fan of that. I’m a slow burn guy. One can argue that Rowling did that with Hinny. From my experience with reading fics with a Harry or Hermione ship other than Harmione, the romance progresses rapidly. Harmione fics do that too, but I’ve read a lot more slowburnish Harmione fics than any other HP ship.

They want to be the hero and get together with the main female lead played by Emma Watson.

This kind of logic doesn’t really make much sense to me. First of all, isn’t Ron also considered a hero too? Couldn’t that also mean that make Romione shippers ship Romione because they perceive themselves as Ron being with Emma Watson, I mean Hermione? Tbh, most people relate to Ron than people to Harry. Even me. Such silly assumptions! Call me an over-exaggerator, but what I think this translates to is: “Male Harmione shippers are sad, lonely, pathetic, obsessive (of Emma Watson) souls and they read Harmione fics to achieve their desire to get with Emma Watson (Hermione) by being Harry”. Is that not crazy-sounding to you?

That’s it.

Haha, no it ain’t. Harmione is one of my comfort ships that serves as a model for what I want in a relationship (my others are Cleon, Jeid, Snowbarry). You know, ships that people would call “vanilla” because they’d be less problematic…

Lastly, I want to talk about gender. Why did they choose males as a way to bring down the ship? Is it because males are less intelligent in the romance category? Is it because men aren’t huge fans of drama? Maybe a mix of both. I cannot account for the first question, but I frankly don’t know he is intelligent at romance. To the second question, I do like drama sometimes, just not the Ron and Hermione kind. The ships with drama I follow are: Brucas, Dasey, Lauriver, and Silver Sablinova/Spiderman. Moving on, women who ship Hermione are not mentioned here because of the assumption that mostly men ship Harmione. I just want to note that, from my Instagram stats, the male-female percentage for my followers is 50-50. A perfect balance. Could this be a sign that says the Harmione ship is the most balanced by gender?

One final thing: I’ve been working on this sporadically for a couple weeks. I just hate being treated this way, and it just feels better to let out my thoughts and frustrations here. Thank you.
