Keep in mind some key facts here !!

Kieran is around 15-16 here! (Ik he’s believed to be 14 though he doesn’t have a canon age I think it was in the french vers that gave him an age though not in the Original or english version of the game??? This may be incorrect so take it with a grain of salt!)

I have applied/projected some of my own qualities onto him! (The lazy right eye, scrape $car on his right knee.)

I did take a few things from his general character story into account, and I’ll drop the indigo disk version someday. (Aka the first aid kit I HC him having in his bag along with a notepad & pencil, bandaids, pokemon food, potions, and candy. Applin sometimes…)

I do believe he’d have a first aid kit bc he can be a tad clumsy, and for others as well! He may be shy though he obviously has a good heart, and would offer assistance with what he has! Also to explain why I believe he is 15-16 is because:

1. He seems around that age with how he is, and given he goes to a ‘fancy rich kid school’ as one of the character in the dlc said in I think it was… mochi mayhem? I could be wrong. 2. Though he’d obviously be mature and Carmine is his older sister, and she seems to be about 17-18 year old in my perspective. And even if she’s his older sister, they seem to have abt a two year age difference? 3. Also the fact in the indigo disk he was somewhat very confident & was able to actually go up and talk to others. And that doesn’t happen overnight! (I also have severe social anxiety so I get it when he’s shy and cant exactly talk to others! My older sibling or someone else has to speak for me when I just cant… just as Carmine had to ask abt the battle with MC and kiki. Because ‘he’d never be able to ask himself’ or something along those lines as she said in-game.)

So it’s clear to say it’d take abt a year for him to get over that, with the determination he had, it may be a bit forced after the first few months. Though it was quite effective in making him come out of his shell. Also the fact that the transfer program is most likely a yearly thing. I mean c’mon, ‘fancy rich kid school’ as it was called, it think. It’s a prestigious academy, and the students they let in were any a small group? From a school similar to that. A possible sister school transfer program. With that much of exclusivity that has be be like once in a blue moon? And it gives Kieran enough time to work on his studies and social/battle skills, as well as a due date for when he’d possibly have a chance to face the MC again.

Also the fact the I HC him with lots of old $cars and remnants of healed injuries, as stated in the second image. Because he did say that he got in trouble with his grandparents and other adults for going up the mountain late at night as a kid, to possibly see the ogre. And that seems very dangerous, though it wasn’t specified, I assumed it was only with a flashlight… so if he got hurt, he’d have to go back to Mossui Town for medical attention. And the scolding too… (poor kiki D:) Also the fact I HC him as clumsy, given he is a bit shy and would be caught off guard most of the time. So Kiki learned his lesson and soon started bringing a first aid kit with him everywhere he goes. And now it’s a known necessity to him nowadays, and not just bringing snacks & sweets and a water with him. He may forget sometimes during indigo disk with how distracted he is with getting stronger.

He may have been irritable and angsty in Indigo disk though he is well written during there. And for him being a D1 crash-out in that era, it was pretty valid. I’d be hella upset if my first friend though I’d flip out just because they got to do something I’d wanted for so long. Also lying abt it, though I wouldn’t hate them completey. After all Kieran did still care! He just wanted be accepted, like everyone else does.

(It’s mainly the reason I don’t associate myself as the MC, and rather the MC as their own person. Since I’d never really act like that and our personalities don’t align, and I wanted to make a more accurate storyline, while keeping to canon, where I can fit myself into the timeline accurately.)

[To sum it up. Kieran was 15 in Teal mask, then 16 in Indigo disk. Kieran has a few more habits because I believe he’s exceptionally written, and is more forgetful/distracted and complex during indigo disk.]

I've been thinking of dnd and HTP recently so the two have now combined into this anon

What would htp main four (jimmy, tango, bravo, and timmy)'s dnd classes be?

I personally think that the most obvious one would be Tango as a barbarian cause you've mentioned before that he has quite a bit of rage, though I'd feel like he'd be multiclassed due his adversion to his more rage-y side. What this other class would be? I have no idea, perhaps artificer?

Jimmy is a bit harder to nail down but i think he has the vibes of a paladin for me, don't ask me why it's just the vibes. (Though he could also be a wholesome warlock due to his supernaturally eyeball'd friends)

Timmy would 100% be a wizard, mostly because of the stereotype of being very physically weak, though if he had a choice I think he would want to be a cleric because of the appeal of the heal-y aspect

Bravo has the vibes of a warlock but the arrogant "daddy's money" attitude of a sorcerer imo, blud has a major superiority complex and we all love-hate him for it.

i hadn’t thought abt it for bravo and timmy tho, for some reason they’re harder to pin down for me?? i see what u mean abt wizards but i’m not sure if timmy would be scholarly enough for that. i almost wonder if he’d be any class at all or if he’d be just Some Guy. yknow, didn’t actually study/train any magic or combat? real NPC vibes. then i guess part of his arc would be deciding to get over his learned helplessness and become an adventurer, and in that instance, cleric all the way.

as for bravo, a sorcerer would DEF lend itself nicely to his superiority complex… believing that simply because he was born with a certain lineage that he’s destined to be this big hero and allowing him not to think too deeply into his own actions and prejudices bc ‘he’s the good guy.’ LOVE that for him. jimmy is gonna kick his ass.

What's princess tutu??

OH BOY YOUVE OPENED THE FLOOD GATES NOW LET ME TELL U ABT MY FAVORITE SHOW, PRINCESS TUTU (take 2 bc i lost my old writing abt this.)

I think it’s a bit funny this is one of my OTHER obsessions other than Ultrakill considering how different they are, but eh. I can’t guarantee this will be everyone’s cup of tea. 

Princess Tutu is an anime released in 2002 (it had its 20 year anniversary recently :D) and is somewhat well-known (but also kinda not..) among fans of mahou shoujo. It has only two seasons and is one of my favorite animes ever. It also has a manga series that was released I think alongside it however its story is different from the anime and I hear it isn’t as good as the anime. While it is not action-packed or full of bright colors it tells a story that resonates with me so deeply and made me rethink what makes a good story. It has a very soft and delicate look to it, and while it can get very fucking dark it can be very sweet and cute. It also inspired my love of ballet and returned a love of classical music to me that I had lost, and is what inspired my Ultradanse AU in MANY fucking ways. My partner Valentine is the one who showed it to me and it changed me fundamentally, and I showed it to Dex and it ruined his life (positively). So now I hope by dumping about this, it interests you in watching it!

VERY LONG WRITING UNDER THE CUT. I AM SO SORRY.

The story follows the heroine Duck, and three other characters named Fakir, Rue and Mytho. It takes place in Gold Crown Town, a place where fairytales become reality. However, Gold Crown Town is only like this because it is under the influence of Drosselmeyer, an author of immense power who died before he could finish writing his story The Prince and the Raven and is now using the town and its residents to orchestrate his story to give it a conclusion.The Prince and the Raven from the book escape their story and come into reality, and to seal the Raven away he shatters his heart into shards that scatter themselves across the town. He succeeds, but the Prince is now without emotion or feeling, barely able to think for himself. He now studies dance at Gold Crown Academy, where the other three main characters study as well.

Drosselmeyer has given the main four different character roles, each one meant to end in their demise or a tragic end. They’re meant to play the roles, submit to the fate of the character, and fully believe that they were that character from the beginning even if that wasn’t true. Drosselmeyer may or may not have influenced and altered their histories and memories, and probably altered their feelings as well so it can be brought into question how much is under Drosselmeyer’s influences.

Drosselmeyer wants this story to end in tragedy, to end in sadness, as to him that would be the best ending. The characters within it though are very complex people, and rather than to succumb to their fates, everyone is trying to escape it. Princess Tutu plays a lot with defying destiny.

Duck plays the role of Princess Tutu. While the title of the role she plays is the title of the series, in Drosselmeyer’s story and in his plans, Princess Tutu is a minor character who is only meant to return the Prince’s heart shards to him, confess her love and then immediately die. It’s a cruel fate, as Duck wants nothing more than to do the right thing and help the prince and others by returning his shards to him where they belong so he may feel and think for himself again. Being Princess Tutu is conflicting for her, because it doesn’t just affect her fate and others but if she wasn’t Princess Tutu she would no longer be able to dance so exquisitely as she wants. Not being Princess Tutu means a lot of things for her, it also means she could forfeit her ability to be a girl. Oh yeah, did I forget to mention? Duck is not even a human girl. She was born a duck and ends the story as a duck. She’s not particularly skilled in much and isn’t very special at all. And yet, what makes her so great is her kindness and resilience. You don’t have to be particularly skilled or perfect at anything to change things or be loved, it’s okay to be average or “just a duck.” It’s fine to be flawed, you can still move someone's heart and change your fate.

Rue plays the role of Princess Kraehe, I don’t think I can really call her an antagonist as she isn’t really one to me. Princess Kraehe is the daughter of the Raven, and she desires the prince and actively works against Princess Tutu to stop him from regaining his heart shards, or just to mess with the process and use it to further her goals. However, Rue makes me SO FUCKING SAD. The Raven leads Rue to believe Mytho is the only one who’d be able to love someone as ugly as her, and only believes she is ugly because she is human in appearance instead of a bird. He gives her this insecurity and desperation that makes her easy to manipulate as he plans to “help” her secure the prince for herself. But she really does love Mytho, and has loved him for all her life. I wish I could go on and on about her, she’s one of my favorite characters ever and she makes me CRY. SHEEE ONLY WANTED TO BE LOVED THATS ALL SHE WANTED AAGGHGHHH

Fakir plays the role of the Prince’s knight, and while I thought he was the antagonist when I first watched the way he develops over the course of the story really makes that idea fade fast. Hell, I even forgot I hated him when I first watched, and now he’s on my top 10 favorite emo boys. He seems like a total dickweed at first and has some.. Kinda vaguely gay scenes with Mytho at the beginning, but he’s far more than that. He admires Mytho and when he was younger, swore he wanted to be Mytho’s knight to protect him, and doesn’t want Mytho to get hurt. Having emotions means he’s susceptible to getting hurt, but there’s more to that. Fakir, playing the role of the knight and believing in his fate, he fears that fate and what is to befall him. Similar to Princess Tutu, he is also destined to die, to be sliced through the chest in battle. He was even born with a birthmark that resembles a scar across his chest. If Mytho has his heart shards returned to him, the story goes into motion, and the closer he gets to his fate. He wants to protect Mytho and keep him safe, but he also doesn’t want to die.While everyone plays a very important role in the story’s finale, he plays a very big one howweeever I don’t wanna spoil what that is or some abilities he has. :]

Mytho, my dear sweet boy and his fucked up haircut, is the prince. He doesn’t play a role, he IS the prince from the story. He exists as this heroic figure that is meant to be perfect, and he has a desire to protect and save others. For most of the story though he lacks his emotions and gains them back slowly, but kinda just gets get pushed and dragged around by Rue and Fakir who are both, for different selfish kinds of love and in different ways, keep him from regaining feelings and dictating what he does. Maybe I’m silly for this interpretation, but he is kind of used like a tool or a doll sometimes rather than a person. Regaining his emotions can hurt him in more ways than one and yet he still wants all of his emotions back. He kind of goes from holding no opinions or thoughts of his own at all to forming ones can be conflicting in the moment. He also gets hurt when Kraehe taints a heart shard with raven’s blood which gives him a touch of evil and flaws he did not begin with. I don’t think he gets the same amount of a transformation of character as the other three, but in the end when his emotions are regained he becomes a bit of an imperfect prince.

I love the characters, a lot. A totally normal amount. BUT. I gotta say, Princess Tutu has some of the prettiest but also the coolest scenes, and they’re good art inspiration for me. I really gotta go out of my way to clip my favorite things, because some of my favorite things haven’t been clipped and put on Youtube somewhere. Here’s some gifs from the series that I like

Hi I'm back again!!!!

I'm haply to know that I'm not alone in the "ship has to be sometimes realistic or I die" boat. Though it's not like I can't consume unrealistic stuff. I just have to be in the mood for it.

I assume the daughter that looks like Aventurine would be the oldest, right? And then later come the other two. I would love to hear about what you came up with!!! (I would also like to draw them, but I don't think I'll do your vision justice...)

In comparison, the fan kids I made aren't all that fleshed out, haha. It's not that I've never thought of them having kids, but my brain feels like it has to build the relationship first before jumping into it, if that makes sense. Like I first have to think about how a ship got together, how the relationship progresses, what struggles they face, whether they would get married, whether they want kids, etc. Whatever I create has to stem from those conclusions. That might be weird, idk. But having someone to bounce ideas off of certainly helps!!!!

Back to the kids, for me I would envision them to have two daughters. They both would have blonde hair, but then the youngest later on dyes it similar to Ratio's, just a bit lighter. The oldest would have Ratio's eyes, and the youngest would have Aventurine's. When they're raising them it's sometimes a jumpscare when Aventurine sees long blonde hair.

I like to think that the eldest daughter eventually gets the fashion sense of her papa (flashy, reference to an animal, excessive amounts of jewelry, etc). Though I'm mostly thinking of those sunglasses Aventurine sometimes wears. They take shopping trips together. Though she'd be the type that just likes what looks good on her, even if it's not designer or whatever.

In contrast, the youngest unfortunately gets one good look at Stelle and it shapes her little brain forever. She looks at Ratio and tells him "I wanna be like them when I grow up!!!!" and it's just a picture of them after they finished dumpster diving. There is no hope to be had. He tries to sit her down and tells her that looting for trash is frowned upon in society and can get her sick. She starts crying.

As for jobs, I like to think one of them becomes a pastry chef, and the other a teacher. But I haven't decided who gets what. Or, like what level of complexity the job would be.

ok ok so here's their designs (always subject to change). fitia is the oldest amongst the three and is a phd holder in archeology and anthropology. she's currently busy with research into her family legacy, more specifically she's interested in the avgin (both for her sake and bcs she grew up with aven talking abt his clan). fitia is a mild mannered person with a sunny disposition and a meticulous approach to her work, which means that she's not very good at taking care of herself. one can either find her nose deep in work or passed out on the floor with several mugs of coffee near her. fun fact, her nickname fi is a play on phi often being used in maths.

selene is the middle child. she's a pro racer and is just about the most reckless person you could meet. an adrenaline junkie at heart, she often makes her family worry. selene is a rebellious one, being very independent even as a kid. she's an avid lover of all things vehicle related and when she's not busy crashing them, she's seen tinkering with bits and bobbles. selene is a yapper, something she inherited from both her parents, and often annoys her two quieter sisters with her talking (they don't mind tho).

cassea is the youngest and quietest of the bunch. she's currently studying geology and is running a blog where she talks about gems. she's more of a listener than a talker, but her tongue is sharp whenever it needs to be. she is quite sweet, but she has taken after ratio's blunt nature. if she's not studying or indulging in her work, she's often seen walking along beaches combing for rocks and pretty shells. cassea has a habit of picking up trinkets and gifting them to her family (selene has a whole lot on her keychain). cassea's name is (might be inaccurate) the romani version of the name keziah.

Here’s Frost- they/them

they fancy Malleus and formally attempt to adopt Idia and Riddle and

everyone that’s not Malleus or Lilia <3 - but mostly idia and riddle.

They’re pretty blunt and nonchalant, in their world they’re a district attorney so they’re extremely justice inclined and smart when it comes to that department. very much studies all the laws in Twisted Wonderland so they can get a sense of the differences there and from where they’re originally from.

they handle overblots pretty well and mumble frequently to themselves abt how they should sue some of the character’s family members

I actyally created them as a genshin/twst au thing :3 theyre the hydro archon alongside furina, two hydro archons and they’re siblings. Frost disappears so furina steps up more to take their place until their return! Frost tended to handle things in the background and stayed away with things that didn’t relate to court, law, and diplomatic relations. They do have a good relationship w furina and neuvillette- alongside trying to keep diplomatic relations with shneznaya peaceful.

then they entered TWST- so now they actually have to…talk to people…as not diplomats. and it’s kind of difficult for them since they’re very used to being a bit strict and cold- and able to manipulate…water. but i say their abilities disappear once they enter this world bc i need a plot for them to be upset!!

They're very pretty!! It's funny you mention genshin cause my OC, (her name is Mitsumi, btw, sorry for being vague with her for so long), also technically exists in genshin.

She's my "one size fits all" girl, so I shove her in just about anywhere lol. She has her own lore independent of Genshin and twst, but it's super complex and a lot to get into so I won't bore you with details about her lol.

Anyway, your OC is super pretty and really cool! I think she'd get along with my other OC Jingyi a lot. She's also (technically) a diplomat, and also technically a god-like being. She's complex, but I think they'd get along well!

hi meadows! did you actually studied english at some point you just became fluent in it by osmosis like the majority of non-native english speakers on online fandom spaces? im picking this up from your post abt media literacy where you mentioned reading lotrd appendix with a dictionary in hand bc this got me thinking... english is not my first language too and i learned it kinda out of nowhere, but now i feel like this affects my confidence in writing a lil bit. any tips on that?

probably osmosis, with a little bit of active work. i was home from school a lot (read: skipped two years in total) when we started learning english but the classes were so miserable anyway i don't feel like i missed much. i have a lisp so i was constantly berated for saying th- words the wrong way, lol

as for confidence, man. come close. let me tell you a secret: native english speakers are godawful at writing english most of the time. either they took one linguistics course and now slap everyone else over the back of the head with a grammar book, or they don't know how to spell complex words. 99% of the time they do not notice shit. so, don't focus on performing for them.

most simple writing mistakes, contrary to posts like "well i saw a grammatical error in this fic and had to close out immediately!", don't interrupt 90% of readers. and you can always go back in and fix them. i'm very grateful for readers who nicely point out little typos and errors i make, since i don't have a beta and proofread it all by myself and you eventually grow text blind.

second is just reading more books (because of professional editing) and writing down sentence structure, phrases etc that are either challenging or neat and working them into your text. i keep lists running for each fic i write of words, phrases, etc from books i read that i want to assimilate into my writing style.

my lazy writing trick is orienting my reading habits to suit the voice/narration of the character i'm writing. for fu xuan i ended up reading a lot of chinese poetry textbooks, as well as some on divination, and just taking on that type of voice. for kafka, it's a lot of unreliable narrator books (joe goldberg quadrology, gillian flynn, in general thrillers; movie scripts and beckett plays too) and currently for clorinde i'm reading a lot of "i would die for you" type poetry as well as austen/brontë. i should note i don't finish all books but sometimes merely flip around for the vibe, read half or a few chapters, whatever. pour words into the well until it's overflowing.

oh my god i genuinely get so excited when talking about any form of media especially literature since its one of my biggest hyperfixations so i absolutely love that you went all out with talking about your faves!!! sorry im abt to go on a whole rant rn i hope u don’t mind gulps!!!

ive read and watched a few of the stuff you’ve mentioned — heavy on franz kafka and shakespeare because i could go on and on about their works. im in the middle of reading ‘the castle’ by kafka and so far i’m thoroughly enjoying it! actually had a huge hamlet phase, which is a little generic but can u blame me hamlet is just so good, and i especially love nerding out about fun facts i learnt while analyzing the script like the fact that freud used hamlet’s relationship with his mother as one of his examples for the oedipus complex which is why many modern depictions of hamlet and his mother’s argument is portrayed with super sensual undertones.

to kill a mockingbird i love too, especially the film (i’m a bit biased i had a huge crush on gregory peck hehe) however i haven’t gotten around to reading animal farm yet which is crazy considering i love classics but i’ve definitely heard good things about it!! and id actually like to know more about fisherman of the inland sea, white fang and the girl who drank the moon if you don’t mind! i know a little about 1984 but i haven’t gotten to reading it either so i wouldn’t mind if you went into detail about it too! :3

as for what i’m currently reading, im trying to get around to actually starting ‘demian’ which is a book ive been putting off for a while — ive been wanting to read it for so long because it’s influenced by my favorite psychoanalysis ever the jungian theory. im just very very bad at starting books but hopefully i do get to it fingers crossed!! im thinking of starting poppy war and its continuations too bcs my friends are huge fans of the series but i might have to leave that for later down the line :p (don quixote too because it seemed rlly interesting to me)

AND OH MY GODDD FORREST GUMPPP, sorry i got so excited seeing that. genuinely my favorite childhood movie ever, i think “life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get” was one of the first quotes that stuck in my head. oh and lady and the tramp? peak fave movie, it’s hard wired into my brain too. i can’t think of my fave movies either but if i had to name one on the spot its probably bridge to terabithia, its so whimsy and extremely depressing at the same time i adore it!! but i do need to get into watching girl interrupted bcs i keep getting recommended it. also the incredibly true adventure of two girls in love looks so cute oh my god 😭😭😭 i’d love if you told me more about it!

i don’t have much to recommend bcs im sorta blanking rn but i had to study a lot plays for my english classes and i absolutely loved this play called ‘cat on a hot tin roof so i highly suggest that!! it takes place in the 1950s and it’s genuinely a little bit depressing (also very of its time if u get what i mean), it might not be for everyone but i really liked it! also, i recently watched pretty in pink and i liked it, very generic 80s romantic melodrama, probably too generic but that’s probably why i enjoyed it a lot, so i recommend that too! im also very very into musicals so if theres any u like id be happy to know abt them!

A Fisherman of the Inland Sea - I actually haven't finished it yet! It's a bunch of short stories compiled into one book ( my favourite type of book. ) They're all sci-fi related to either aliens, the demise of humanity, etc. It actually won the Kafka award which I thought you'd appreciate lol. Tons of feminist subtext in most of the stories, depth and heart to them, I just throughly enjoyed the two I've finished so far. I'm not a huge fan of sci-fi but I love how Ursula le Guin writes. Not a ton to say here, but I recommend it!

White fang - One of the first chapter books I ever read. Picked it up in 2nd grade and never put it down. Jack London my love, my heart, my soul! Beautiful telling of a wolf dog who is captured by humans and made to run sleds. Humans and dogs alike are shown as cruel, stunning subtext about accepting others and not being a dick overall. I can't even describe to you how beautiful the book is so I'm going to just attach a photo of the back of my copy at the bottom

There are SO many layers to Rubius and Vegetta’s relationship (both romantic and friendship-wise), and that complexity makes them fascinating characters to study. I’ve been discussing this a lot in private lately, but I feel like there’s quite a bit of misinformation / misinterpretations of Rubius and Vegetta’s relationship amongst some of the newer fans who might not know some key components of their personality and their relationship dynamic as a whole (which is understandable since the majority of their lore came from Karmaland, and a lot of newer fans only speak English / only watch QSMP), so ALLOW ME TO ELABORATE:

I think of the two, Rubius definitely gets mischaracterized the most (which, again, maybe isn't too surprising since not everyone watched Karmaland and he hasn't been on the QSMP server too much lately). I could go off on a tangent here and list my frustrations about the people who harassed him for his role / his actions during the Egg event / whining about ships to the point where he decided not to log into the server again ‘til the Egg event is over, but that's ultimately irrelevant to this discussion.

“Their love feels quite self-destructive” is a really good way to sum things up, because Rubius is a pretty self-destructive man. Rubius is, fundamentally, a man who is full of love for the people he cares about, but those feelings are in direct conflict with his reluctance to let people get close to him (and his commitment issues). He can freely give hugs and kisses (and more) to Vegetta, but when it comes to expressing his true thoughts and feelings, he’s pretty emotionally constipated. We’ve already seen this a few times on the QSMP server – when Rubius visits on Vegetta’s birthday, he sings him the most beautiful heartfelt love song ever, but as soon as it’s over and Vegetta tries to talk to him, Rubius runs away. Even in Karmaland V, when hooked up to a lie detector and asked about his feelings for Vegetta, Rubius tried to wiggle his way out of answering. Only when the world was literally ending and they all thought they were gonna die did Rubius finally admit his feelings, shouting his confession and his love for Vegetta at the top of his lungs.

(The real tragedy here is that it was so chaotic with everyone shouting, Vegetta never heard his words…)

Although it’s easy to slap the label “toxic” on Rubius, I think that’s unfair to him and his character, as well as his intentions. He truly does love Vegetta with all his heart, in every universe, and he doesn’t want to hurt him, but Rubius doesn’t want to get hurt either. The Meteor shower conversation gives us a clear understanding of that:

Rubius: I don't want to get hurt. I don't want to get my hopes up, and then get hurt. It's happened to me many times before. Especially here in Karmaland. Vegetta: Have you had lovesickness? Rubius: Yes. In Karmaland, everywhere, in real life... I'm already used to getting beaten. Vegetta: That's a pity... Rubius: I just want someone to take care of me, and that's it. I don't ask for much. Vegetta: I'm very protective.

The way I see it, Rubius is afraid of his feelings for Vegetta, because the larger his love grows, the larger that potential for hurt and disappointment gets. Does this excuse all his actions? No, of course not, however there’s a big difference between doing something out of self-preservation (possibly as a trauma-response, depending on how you interpret his character) and doing something with the intent to hurt someone.

IMO, Rubius isn’t a toxic guy, he just needs therapy.

Vegetta doesn’t get mischaracterized quite as often, though I do feel like people have a tendency to put him on a pedestal and minimize the flaws he has. I’m a massive Vegetta fan, but this guy’s far from perfect. He’s self-centered, borderline narcissistic sometimes, and he’s a very prideful man. He’s never left Rubius at the altar, but he’s still had his fair share of “oopsies” and "yikes" in their relationship. One (which I’m surprised people don’t talk about more) is an incident from Karmaland IV where Vegetta, very unhinged and mentally unstable at the time, kidnapped Rubius’ wife Nieves and threatened her with a sword, saying, “If Rubius can’t be mine, he can’t be anyone’s.”

For the longest time I genuinely thought that line came from a fanfic or something, then I stumbled upon the clip one day and I was just like:

In Karmaland V, Rubius became very close with a little alien child named Titi. He took care of Titi like he was his own son, and despite his attempts at emotionally distancing himself early on so he wouldn’t get attached, Rubius wound up caring a lot for him.

Then Titi died.

It was basically Rubius’ worst nightmare come to life – he’d let himself get close to Titi, he’d loved him unconditionally and let Titi into his heart, and Titi’s death utterly destroyed him. Everyone in Karmaland was affected by the death, but Rubius took it especially hard because of how close they were. Rubius was hurting badly and resorting to terrible coping strategies to deal with the pain, and Vegetta…

Well. Vegetta wasn’t very nice about it.

There are a lot of ways we could interpret Vegetta’s actions and words during this time – maybe he’s not super sensitive when talking about death since he’s probably some kind of demigod, maybe he speedran the grieving process, maybe he thought brutal honesty and direct action would help Rubius “snap out of it” sooner. However you see it, ultimately it did a lot more harm than good for Rubius’ overall mental health.

I bring these examples up not to paint their relationship as toxic or negative, but rather to express just how complex it is. Because, despite all their mistakes and drama and heartbreak, at the end of the day, Rubius and Vegetta still love each other more than anything else. Even towards the end of Karmaland V when they were quite literally on opposite sides of the battlefield (one supporting Quackity, the other supporting Luzu), their true loyalties lay with one another. When Rubius was hit by an enemy, Vegetta defended him with his life, and when Vegetta was hurt, Rubius did the same.

Yes, Rubius doesn't really know how to handle healthy relationships, and yes, Vegetta tends to forgive him too easily, but that doesn't erase the love they have. The key we need to remember here is that Rubegetta is a telenovela that sits squarely in the romcom category. They may wander into other genres and tropes from time to time, but they will always gravitate back to one another. Whether you define that as fate or soulmates or just sheer dumb luck, the facts remain and the love is there.

PHEW anyways that felt good to get out, I have so many thoughts on Rubegetta so I appreciate the excuse to rant. I'm always happy to chat about these two! :D And you're so right - Vegetta is so smitten for that demon, I hope he gets to meet the angel too. I hope Rubius comes back soon so Vegetta can see his Osito Fiu Fiu, but in the meantime, we'll have to keep wishing and praying just like Vegetta...

as always, this depends very much on your university and the system you're in! In my case, we had a couple of broader courses in the first two years and were able to specialise further in honours. the thing about history is that it encompasses SO MUCH and it's unlikely you'll vibe with everything. so a lot of options, but also a lot of decisions.

studying history at university is often different from high school - mainly in terms of complexity and forms of assessment. not sure if you've come across historiography yet, but it's half the battle of uni history courses - essentially, whenever you study a subject you simultaenously study how historians have thought about it and argued about it over time. that then informs your argument when you write essays, which in my experience you do a LOT of. other forms of assessment can be primary source analyses, and maybe quizzes? though I haven't really had many of those. but it really is a very essay and reading heavy subject which can be overwhelming when you first arrive. there will be a lot of scholarly articles/books/etc as well as primary sources which can be difficult and time-consuming to understand. worthwhile!!! important!!! but not easy.

I think ultimately a history degree is what you make of it - it does teach you good skills. we also walked into our first intro class and got told "you're all here because your parents wanted you to do law" which,,,, hdkljflkdsjflkdsf. it might make you a bit more weary of popular representations of your favourite interest, and it might make you a bit more sensitive to nuance and complexity in real life. of course it might also not do that, there are plenty of idiots with history degrees out there lol.

personally, I really love my history degree - I enjoy learning about frames of reference, about individual people in Historical Situations, I love the little detective work of hunting through digitised microfiche scrapbooks in the national library of australia to form a crackpot theory of who made the photo album I'm working with. but I know not everyone loves it, and that's also ok!! it clicks with how my brain works, but that doesn't have to be the case for everyone.

and sometimes when she’s feeling especially comfortable, she might hum a tune or sing some lyrics to match the mood

she asks you for suggestions for music to put on bc she loves introducing herself to new music

but when you’re concentrated,  she doesn’t want to disturb you so she just puts on a playlist she made prior 

she doesn’t create a new playlist each time you hang out but there is at least 10 new songs added to it every day

anyway, she just loves hanging out with you bc you’re one of the very few people who don’t annoy tf out of her

most of them are school related though

he can easily tell if you’re struggling with the coursework and asks you if you want go on a lil study date at the library or in his dorm 

he also helps you with homework or explains the material to you if you don’t understand it

and he’s the best teacher since he’s extremely patient and well-spoken

if you’re feeling under the weather, he’ll head to your dorm to fetch your notebook so he can write the class notes for you 

and he’ll put in the effort to make them as similar to your other notes as he can

so he flicks through the pages and (for example) if you have a highlighting code, he’ll look for the legend and highlight the notes he took accordingly 

once school is over for the day, he goes to your dorm to drop off the notebook, putting it back in the respective part of your bag

and the next day when you open your notebook to check the notes, you notice that he wrote a little note for you;

‘get well soon 💛’ 

it was a simple, kind gesture but the small details like how he coloured in the heart with a glittery yellow highlighter he must’ve took from your bag had you blushing (^///^)

also, whenever you’ve scheduled a study date at his dorm, there is no way in hell you’ll walk into his room and there isn’t 2 bowls of fresh soba sitting on the desk

no way. impossible.

he’s definitely a physical touch kinda guy but tries to be an acts of service man..y’know?

he doesn’t want you thinking that he likes hugging, cuddling, kisses or any of that none-sense bc..he is a big macho king explosion murder 

and he knows that if he gets to comfortable with showing affection through physical touch, it’d become a habit then he might do it in public and the last thing he wanted was a rumour coming out that ‘king explosion murder is actually a huge cuddle-bug dork!’

so he hides it the best he can and expresses his love by like letting you wear his hoodie and not cussing you out when you do something stupid

but the fact is, nothing makes him feel better than holding you in his arms - under a blanket or not -  with your face buried into his chest and your arm lazing draped over his shoulder

he usually does a good job at resisting his urge to randomly kiss you or take your hand in public

but there was that one time

luckily, it was on a date rather than on a school outing so it was only you who knows about it 

it was probably around 6 months after y’all first started dating and he took you on a date to the carnival

there was a gang of boys who looked around a few years older than y’all and they were chatting amongst themselves until they approached the line you and Bakugo were waiting in (to get onto a ride at the carnival) and the group of boys stood behind you in line

at first everything was alright; they were just chatting while you were raving on about the ride to bakugo but he kinda tuned you out after he heard one of the guys say something along the lines of

“she’s kinda hot- a bit young but so fit. i think she’s from the UA too.”

that comment was enough to make his blood boil but a separate comment from one of the other guys tipped him over the edge,

“yeah and look at the guy she’s with. he’s the feral guy that needed to be put in chains at the sports festival - how embarassing.” he snickered, which was genuinely one of the most annoying noises bakugo has ever heard

his voice was low, in a whisper so they probably didn’t expect bakugo to hear it over the background noise of the carnival along with the girl yapping in his ear

but he did

and when i tell you this man was livid 

in that moment he seriously considered just turning around and burning each and every one of those guys into a crisp

but the law-abiding citizen and hero inside him said no 

instead, he fiercely snaked his arms around your hips to pull you into his chest and looked over his shoulders to shoot literal daggers at the guys

he led you out of the line for the ride in silence and you followed him without question - having heard the things those guys said but choosing to pretend as if you didn’t 

“What was that about?” You finally asked as he brought you over to a bench, pulling you onto his lap

“Nothing.” He said, oddly calm as he stared into the void

“Okay.” You rolled your eyes, deciding not to pry as you obviously already knew what provoked him to do that. “I’m gonna go get some cotton candy then. Do you want some?”

“No.” He replied monotonously, allowing you to hop off his knee but immediately grabbing your hand, preventing you from going any farther than arms length from him.

“you needy cow.” you giggled, playfully kicking his shin, “I’m so hungry - let me go!” 

“No.” He replied in the same monotone voice. “I can’t be assed to move.”

You leaned back, pulling your whole weight backwards to try get Bakugo to release his grip on your hand and eventually he gave in and got up, sluggishly following you to go get cotton candy 

you gleefully popped some of the delectable fluff into your mouth before sneaking some into bakugo’s mouth too.

 “are you gonna let go of my hand any time soon?” you asked, wanting to hold the bag of cotton candy for yourself but instead having one hand interlocked with his and the other being used to rip small pieces off as Bakugo held the bag in his spare hand 

“No.”

bc he knows what it’s like to have to go through life with barely anyone besides your mother telling you that your great and that you’re worthy. it’s depressing and traumatic and he wouldn’t wish that misery on his worst enemy

I had this kinda prompt in my head the other day with Stephen reluctantly being good at mind manipulation magic with a splash of ironstrange at the end.

Given his neurosurgeon past or whatever inherent talent, maybe he finds out that he's got a certain affinity for mind magic, it comes to him easily even though it's considered one of the more complex and precise forms of magic. Manipulating memories, subtle suggestions, mind control to a certain extent and the usual. Most sorcerers don't bother learning it because it's dangerous and so very easy to break someone by accident if your magic is too blunt, it also requires a decent technical understanding of the brain.

Stephen had read up about it in a tome in the kamar-taj library somewhat early into his sorcerer training, he thought that he could somehow trick his own brain into thinking his hands were completely fine. No, he didn't read the warnings about accidental mind breaking since it came after the instructions.

I imagine there's someone in kamar-taj that hates his guts (maybe they knew him during his doctor days/rejected patient?) They're a higher rank, and love making Stephen's life hard now that the power dynamic has shifted. So this person walks in on Stephen studying the mind tome outside and starts being an asshole. Stephen lashes out, tells them to shut up and climb a tree or something. And to his surprise, they do exactly as he says. Realising what he's done, he does a quick skim of the tome for answers and releases the spell.

Stephen is horrified at what he's done, being a doctor and all that, he's big on consent and agency. TAO notices the events unfolding from afar, and they have a convo abt it. She notes that there's no current sorcerer alive that is able to perform such smooth feats of mind manipulation and that there's so much more to it than what's in the tome. She questions if Stephen would be interested in furthering his studies and research in it, to expand the order's knowledge in this field.

(I kinda think of Wanda's brand of mind magic to be different to how the order practices magic, she doesn't need to understand the actual technical aspect of magic to perform her chaos magic the way Stephen needed understand spells in DS1)

But back to Stephen, I imagine he's very adamantly against it bcs of his own moral compass. But his insatiable curiosity compels him, there wasn't anything in the tome abt manipulating his own mind into thinking his hands are fixed. However, he has theories on how to make that possible based on the basics he's grasped from the tome. So he's really torn about TAO's offer.

Maybe he takes it, willing to learn mind magic but unwilling to use it practically on anyone. TAO offers herself up as his muse I guess, reassuring Stephen that she's powerful enough to break Stephen's spells if needed.

Fast forward, Stephen and Tony are in an established relationship. Tony finds out that Stephen's particular talent in mind magic and this creates a rift between them for a bit. Even after Stephen has carefully helped Tony cope with his aversion to magic and portals in general, mind manipulation traumatised Tony even moreso. Tony withdraws and begins to avoid Stephen, while Stephen allows him the space he needs to process his feelings towards the fact that one of his worst traumas is connected to someone he loves very dearly. Eventually he approaches Stephen, he can't do this, he hates mind manipulation and he hates that Stephen is apparently so adept at it, even if it is with great reluctance. But Stephen is the only person he can trust to help him build some sort of defence against other people who seek to tamper with his mind. So they slowly build their relationship from there, with more trust between them.

* i like to think that she has a hero complex, but its a bit different since she never really sees herself as an ‘important’ part of the story, not the main character but a support one, hence ‘im fine with being the side character’ or how she’s said she doesnt care what happens to her and would gladly sacrifice(?) herself if there werent other people she had to protect. girl u need therapy urself <3

* though very open with how she feels and never afraid to say when someone/something is upsetting her, ‘opening up’ is still a whole mountain climb for her, apparently. like, she’d rant about the egg, get mad at the eggpire, let off some steam by committing arson or exploding stuff, she’ll rarely ever talk about how much the stuff that upset her actually HURT her. does that make sense? LIKE, she’ll lash out, she’ll get mad, she’ll take NO SHIT thrown at her face, but to show the kinda vulnerability of dealing with that? to cry about it talk about those feelings with someone? I think she’d rather eat her own foot lol

* adding onto the thing above, she doesnt necessarily actually realize this about herself. less of actively doing it and rather growing... used to the ‘cycle of violence’ in the smp as they call it. and the fact that rarely have people really asked, that no one’s actually available for that, w her losing her closest friends, bad and ant, sam being busy w the warden stuff... and niki. yeah. there’s foolish, but i doubt she’d ever see venting to someone she considers her son appealing

* also. puffy is just sometimes... really bad at conveying sadness. i think she’s a rare crier. id go as far to say that shes even more emotionally constipated than dream, lol (but maybe not while the guy’s in his prison arc) and that she’d be the type of person to tell you its okay to cry but beat herself up over something if she let a tear slip in a heated moment

* speaking of sadness. she’ll only ever actually Be Sad if she’s alone or with someone she doesnt necessarily care the opinions of. yknow how she mourned for tommy and blamed herself? those dialogue bits? yeah, those are only times shed actually be vulnerable

* puffy’s go to response to the egg and how its fucked up her relationship w her friends is pure fury. but, going off of her line about ‘failing bad and ant’ i like to think that she probably hates herself the most about it. THAT IS A STRONG WORD LOL BUT YEAH. she yells and curses and gets mad, but sometimes i wonder if the words she had spat before were more directed to herself

* THIS GIRL HAS SELF-IDENTITY PROBLEMS. CAN WE GET A HELL YEAH FOR THAT CHAT? outside of having no goddamn clue about where she came from, how she got here and who she even is, scrounging up a role for herself in a server with a war on the background and traumatized kids got her resignedly coerced into thinking that she is only a Parent. * she cannot stand still sometimes. she always has to be doing something extra, walking when the prime path is right there? shed rather go through tedious little holes or hop and balance onto fences to get where shes going. she’ll mindlessly fix up the path when there are holes or mismatched wood, and one time went on a long, long LONG journey cleaning up the paths tommy purposely DESTROYED near lmanburg and even added cobblestone sidings which werent there before

* puffys a bit of a sentimental person. writing in her log to clear her thoughts sometimes and cared enough to try and preserve lmanburg with the glass sheet and trying to find possible surviving artifacts of history to respect it, even though she’s never been a part of it. its also why, when doomsday happened and lmanburg got permanently poofed, she began to appreciate the buildings that are still standing and began taking more pics 

* she’s not used to being... what do you call it, um, cared for? she’d deflect compliments sometimes, when shes having a particular bad day, like, she’d laugh nervously and change the subject, sometimes she’d outright deny it, most days she’d jokingly say ‘staphhh it’ and add a very genuine thanks. my point being is, do something for puffy that is mildly nice and she’d keep that moment in her heart forever. 

* also funny story regarding the above. u know how karl is notorious for stealing her materials? and how puffy was contemplating doing something in retaliation for them? karl says hi for once when she joins the server and she goes ‘alright fine youre safe for saying hi’ LOL THIS WAS PROBABLY A BIT META WISE but something about this implying that the bare minimum or LESS is enough to make puffy forgive someone is very sad and funny at the same time for me. girl really said ‘oh you said hi to me? thats nice all the crimes youve ever done towards me is now forgiven. <3’ (this is a bit of an exaggeration on my part, ofc, i just think its funny LMAO) 

* ironically, despite being the ‘captain’, whenever riding a boat with someone, she prefers being on the backseat and letting them drive. ig shes just there for the ride i suppose, her and her uber drivers :3

 * she either has a rather unhealthy obsession with baked potatoes or she just doesnt wanna waste eret’s massive potato farm

* idc what cc!puffy says is c!puffy will always and forever be 5′2″ in my HEART. u are the shortest member, u cannot change this <3

* shes really fond of animals/ neutral mobs. she often baby talks to them and they help boost her mood a lot when shes having a bad day :D

* up to this day, the little secret rooms she’s created around the server have all been yet to be discovered, unless the one under bad’s house has been found. she rarely ever really keeps tabs on them, and more often than not they are just collecting dust. she still visits sometimes and cleans them up ofc

* she still genuinely thinks dream can change. cc!puffy’s line about that, ‘i’m his last hope.’ really makes me think about this a lot. 

* ive seen people talk abt it a bit but the headcanon that puffy acts as the server mom to fill the ‘void’ of her missing her mom makes me cry at night /hj

* she really likes her rainbow onesie! i headcanon that eret gave her that along w the sunglasses, but she started wearing that less when she found her old captains uniform. shes never really said why, though, and nobody ever really bothered to ask

* god bless this woman but sometimes the server members get on her nerves sometimes so she goes out of her way to traverse along far away from the main community to maybe commit a few crimes. let off some steam. these take a few days but she always returns
