CLONE HIGH (2023) EP. 8 SPOILERS
Okay, I know I’m opening up myself to a bunch of arguing but like... We need to have a talk. I should preface this by saying I’m not a die hard fan of Clone High. I only caved into watching the original series a few days before the reboot dropped despite hearing about it for years. I think they’re both good but I have my problems with both.
But I wanna talk about Topher Bus, a Christopher Columbus clone in a Gen Z world. He’s kind of taken over the role of Ghandi as Abe’s best friend in the revival, since the creators don’t want to bring him back unless they know they’re gonna be able to make more seasons. He hasn’t had a lot of screen time or development because the abundance of characters in this version. However, him becoming somewhat close with Abe has resulted in some fans shipping them.
So imagine their surprise when Topher tries to blackmail (or white leverage) Abe at the end of the final episode because he is attracted to Joan as well. I’ve seen so many people actually get angry about this. Many found themselves disappointed that Topher wasn’t straight or that he’d do something so terrible to Abe.
To which I say... Why would you expect anything else from this guy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Topher’s whole thing was that he was an asshole who tried way too hard to convince people he’s progressive or an ally or “woke”, a term he unironically uses. He goes on and on about how he’s looking out for poc and women because he’s just trying to survive in a world that has flat out rejected his clone father.
“But he has a ‘Everyone is Welcome Here’ rainbow flag in his room!” Yeah, he does. He also has a co-exist poster, too. Good for him. Except there’s also a poster that says “Not a paid activist”. It’s a front! That’s the point!
“But he keeps trying to drill it into everyone’s heads that he’s straight, like a closeted person!” Yes, he does. But it’s not just closeted people who do that. I went to a Catholic school and I also live in the real world. I’ve seen dudes be afraid to drink tea or hug because it might make them look “gay” or “feminine” or whatever bullshit.
“The way he said he liked Joan and white women in general was so exaggerated that he must be forcing himself to say it!” This is Clone High! Everything in this show is so exaggerated. From the very beginning, it’s been a parody of teen satires. It was created by the duo that would go on to make Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, 21 Jump Street and The LEGO Movie. This is their style.
“The episode would have been better if he blackmailed Abe into not confessing to Joan because he had a crush on Abe.” So you’re saying you would have liked the episode more if Topher had gone “Abe, the reason I almost got you molested by a teacher was because I’m in love with you”? I need you to realize how fucked that is.
Topher is a weasly little shit who tries to convince everyone how progressive he is when he’s actually a total asshole. That was the point. Y’all thinking he was in love with Abe or that he had Abe’s best intentions at heart just means that it worked. You took the bait. I’m not saying shipping Tophabe would be immoral (okay maybe after the whole statutory rape thing but that’s just for right now). There’s a solid chance that their friendship could be salvaged after this. I certainly never thought I’d ship Cleo with anyone but know she and Frida are my OTP. But you gotta stop pretending that this character is someone he isn’t.
I might delete this because I’m just trying to get my feelings out. I’m not calling anyone stupid or whiny just because they got upset by the new episodes. (Shoutout to my boy, @warcrimetime. Sorry they took JoanFK from you so soon). This is just another case of me getting annoyed by people calling queerbait just because a ship didn’t become canon and me getting everything out of my system. (But also, if Joan does see Topher’s blackmail and her reaction is anger at Abe and not “HOLY SHIT YOU WERE MOLESTED?!” then that would actually be legit bad writing).
TL;DR:
Tumblr media
Although, maybe I’m just not upset because I got Kahlopatra and you guys lost your OTP and I just don’t understand, I dunno.

Good, bad, questions, and predictions for this week. Harebrained Halo Headcanons of the week.
Good: Casting is still this show’s greatest selling point, particularly Joseph Morgan’s Ackerson. Every performance is stellar, and that goes a long way toward covering the series’ flaws.
I like the look at the rank-and-file military and the confirmation that there are in fact other Spartan teams out there. And, because this is me we’re talking about, I like the religious references. Babylon 5 trained me well, I guess. The St. Christopher Medal, Corporal I’m-a-Baptist, Talia’s family praying before dinner, Shaman Lady telling John to “find your faith, Spartan” because she has seen his death which comes soon. WHAT is up with that by the way. They can’t just leave a line like that there.
The costuming has leveled up this year. The Spartans’ duty uniforms last year, as I’ve said, looked like spray foam insulation and slinkies. These ones may look like the Spartans are managing a Cabela’s, but I still like it better. Also, Kai would rock the gun counter. Not one for modern AUs, but all of the Spartans working at a Cabela’s has some appeal.
The new intro and use of the actual Halo music.
Bad: Honestly, nothing about these two episodes is straight-up bad. It just doesn’t feel like a follow-up to S1. Some of this is a new showrunner, so of course things will look different, but it also seems like they took the easy way out of resolving some things from last season. I am trying to reserve judgment until at least the halfway point, though, so I won’t say more yet.
Neutral: Keyes is an admiral now. Like…OK? What does this mean in the grand scheme of things? Did they need a new admiral when Parangosky got the boot? Keyes also seems like someone’s pulling his strings. ONI/Ackerson, probably. Something’s up here. This is not the Jacob Keyes we saw last season.
The show has not told us what ONI is. The lack of context for people who aren’t coming from the games/books has to be frustrating. Also is Ackerson still a colonel or not?
Speculations/wishful thinking/questions: Miranda is working on the S-IIIs, maybe even IVs. Or she has been rebooted to be a line officer like her game character. Miranda DOES have a ship in S1. Halsey mentions “Miranda’s ship” during the fight on Eridanus. So this wouldn’t be as big a leap as it seems. Miranda could be out running some science mission. I like this idea, really. We’ve seen the side of Miranda that came from her mom; it would be cool to see the side that came from her dad.
What “monster” does Kwan mean? My money right now is on the Flood. I’m pretty sure Soren and Laera don’t know Kwan is on the Rubble since Soren asks where Kessler is getting the ideas about monsters. How do Kwan, Laera, and Kessler fit into everything here?
What’s Parangosky up to? The Paramount website had her planning Operation: Red Flag but she’s a civilian now. Also, how did John not know that? Anyway. Was she planning Red Flag when she got cashiered? Is she planning it from behind the scenes?
Soren’s “arrest” is how he gets to Reach (we see him in Halsey’s holodeck prison in one of the trailers) which is how he and John end up fighting together. This might be a good time to mention my plot bunny that Soren and Vannak have some long-standing feud from a training incident in their youth which would get reignited if they ever met again.
Cobalt team will yank their pellets.
John seems very much like Halo 5 Chief this season, don’t know if that’s on purpose or not. Even his brooding about Makee parallels Game Chief’s Cortana angst. Though TV Chief has plenty of that too, he just doesn’t know it. Look how he reacts every time someone mentions they took Cortana out of his brain.
How and when will they reunite John and Cortana? Will she go back in his head? Or a chip like her game self? I see advantages and disadvantages to both. But, given how the show has changed AI, where would Cortana’s chip go? John’s helmet wouldn’t have a port for it, and neither would any ships or…anything. There’s a trailer scene where John puts on his helmet and the visor is cracked, so maybe he needs a whole new helmet and it could be fitted for Cortana? I think with the planet frying there are bigger things to do around FLEETCOM though.
But when they do reunite John and Cortana, are we gonna get the scene from the end of Fall of Reach where Ackerson almost kills John and Cortana gets revenge???? I have said this before but I REALLY want to see that.
Makee. Is this really her? Could it be a clone? Projection? I’m inclined to say it’s her but no harm in entertaining wild theories. At least my Vital Record AU isn’t canon. I was low-key worried about that.
OK, Bum Bum gave me his cold and I need to take NyQuil and sleep now so I’m going to end this here. See everyone tomorrow night since I’m going to drop off Tumblr until I can watch.

This ‘Wonderland’ Interview to promote A Single Man is a gem.  Matthew Goode is a bit of a handful and swears his way through this interview with his mate Nic Hoult.  It’s very funny.  It’s often quoted (including his description of Colin Firth’s kissing technique!) but it’s difficult to find a clean scan of the whole interview.  This scan (from Natalie/ Fairchilds on ohnotheydidnt) isn’t very clear to read so I did a transcript several years ago - here:-
Wonderland Interview
Based on the 1964 novel by Christopher Isherwood, A Single Man marks the screenwriting and directing debut of fashion icon, Tom Ford.  Having debuted earlier this year at the Venice Film Festival to a standing ovation, the film has continued to impress audiences during screening at the Toronto and London Film Festivals.
Joining lead actor, Colin Firth, on screen are fellow Brits Matthew Goode and Nicholas Hoult who discuss the film, Tom Ford and being British in LA.
ON A SINGLE MAN
Nicholas Hoult: The only time I saw Matthew was when we were getting our spray tans.
Matthew Goode: Which were more regular than we were expecting.  I got on a plane with Colin [Firth] and then literally the moment we arrived, got in the car together, went to the hotel and suddenly – it’s like ten thirty at night – we have to go to Colin’s room where we’re having our spray tans .  Colin Firth is in his pants, I’m in my pants and it stays that way for an hour whilst we wait for this stuff to set.  He’s fucking great.  I love Colin.
We [Nic’ and he] never had a scene together but we were there the whole time.  I was only really fitting in around these guys.  Nic had a damn sight more to do than I did.
NH: No I just did more.
MG: [Laughs] It was a really fun shoot. I mean, maybe I’m looking back with rose tinted spectacles, but …
NH: It was a good fun shoot. Everyone enjoyed it.  I remember the night in Venice after seeing it in front of all those people and just lying in bed thinking ‘that’s something I’m proud of’.
MG: It’s seriously impressive. You watch it and you care and, it doesn’t happen to me a lot, but I watched it and thought ‘I’m in something that doesn’t stink!’.  I’m proud of that.
NH:  That’s a nice feeling when you’ve done something and you can say ‘yeah, proud of that’.
MG:  Fucking hell – sorry to interrupt – but I was reading a magazine or a paper or something the other day and it said “A Single Man obviously being screened and whenever Nic Hoult was on screen there were gasps over his beauty” [laughs]. And I was thinking, fucking Hoult is going to LA and get so laid! [Laughs]. He is going to be turning bush away left right and centre!
NH:  It’s all down to the fake tan again.  That’s where the performance stems for me.
MG:  That is a review!
NH:  Nothing about the acting, right?
MG:  They didn’t review the film.  It just said “I saw it.  I’m going to be reviewing it at some point, but let me tell you there were gasps over Nick Hoult’s beauty!”
ON TOM FORD
MG:  Tom is immediately interesting. If it’s all about someone’s cannon of work then most of the time you wouldn’t work with a first ime director, but if the script is good and you have a chat with them and they know which end is up and which is down, then great.
NH: I didn’t know who Tom was when I met him.
MG: Nick “fashion forward” Hoult!
NH:  I’d gone over to LA got off a plane and had dinner with him.  And I asked him how he’d got into directing and why he was doing this!
MG:  I love that.  Isn’t that great?  And that’s also like Tom.  He’s not the sort of person who is like, ‘well fuck you!’.
NH: He explained very humbly what he had done and I thought OK.  And then I looked him up after dinner and was ‘oh jesus!  He’s actually accomplished quite a lot’ so probably quite a stupid question, but he was very honest and modest and made a great director.
MG: It’s so good.  And so good for Colin.  And Julianne [Moore] is bloody great in it as well.  But the real star of it, it has to be said, is Tom. It silences immediately the people who were going ‘you self indulgent cunt.’  It’s like two massive fingers up to them as it is very, very accomplished.
NH:  It’s very personal to him as well.
MG:  Hugely personal as the main story sort of mirror images the relationship between him and Richard.  There’s a similar age gap.
NH:  He would always say my character is him when he was 18.  He’s connected to every character and he knows them.
MG:  And he wrote the screenplay and it’s starkly different from the book.
NH:  Matthew’s read the book, so –
MG:  That’s right!  I have. It is different.  I am always about the script, really.  But one of the really nice things about being involved is that it is a love poem to Tom’s partner, Richard.
NH:  Tom is very good in the sense that he is an actor’s director and knows what he wants you to do but is very giving to let you go off and explore things and try stuff out.  And you don’t feel too much pressure of failure.
MG:  That’s very true.
NH: ‘Cause the second you’re on set – especially when there’s only 20 days to shoot – to not feel the pressure, that’s a good atmosphere he created.  Something his assistant was saying the other day was that he’s very good at holding his hands up and would admit when he wasn’t sure what he was doing and kept everyone on side and made it a really great team effort.
MG:   I love it when someone’s like that.  It’s so far away from self indulgent as well when someone’s shooting into the 19th hour of the day and the ship isn’t sinking, but there’s a leak and it’s far better to say we do have a leak and I’m trying to sort it out rather than leaning on one side and saying everything is fine.  He is fucking great.
ON COLIN FIRTH
MG:  Colin was great.  I knew he was going to be good.  The moment I read the script, I was like, ‘this is something you haven’t done in a long time’ – just something he could really get his teeth into.   He’s such a subtle actor and it’s been a long time since I can remember him having something that central and serious.
NH:  It was a great moment when we went to the Venice Film Festival and got the message Colin was winning the best actor award.
MG:  I know.  The previous evening we had sat there and we knew it had gone down well because there was a NINE minute standing ovation.  And particularly when you’re not in the film as much as I am, then I feel like a fucking charlatan.  I stood there and am looking down and smiling and embarrassed.  Colin’s quite emotional and I tell you what – four minutes of a standing ovation gets a bit uncomfortable, but NINE?  ‘OK, Colin… fucking move. Let’s go. Let’s leave.’ And he couldn’t tell us that he had won and so he was being shy about it.
NH:  Yeah, he kept it very quiet.
MG:  The moment we found out and we were on the boat we were like ‘What the fuck?  You’ve won and you didn’t tell us!?  And he was like ‘ I know, I didn’t wanna.’  He was humble.
NH:  It was great.  It was a bit of an odd first day like you had in the sense that I had to strip off in front of Colin on my first day.  It sounds a bit seedy when I say ‘strip off in front of him.
MG:  It does!
NH:  It’s part of the film, I swear!  And it’s handled a lot more tastefully that that might seem, but yeah it was a bit of an odd first day.
MG:  Everyone is going to say ‘oh it’s a gay movie’ which we then counteract with ‘no it’s not, it’s a film about love.’  But there is nudity and a bit of man kissing.  Frankly Colin kisses like a nymphomaniac on death row, but it was a real pleasure!
NH:  He’s got a lot of love!
ON JULIANNE MOORE
MG:  She’s a fucking hero.  She’s lovely. I didn’t have any scenes with her. I mean I’m only in flashback, so all my stuff was with Colin.
NH:  All my stuff is with Colin as well.   The first time I met Julianne was in Venice.
MG:  Yeah, she was probably in the middle of juggling six projects or something, you know, she never stops working.  She came in and shot two scenes, which were about 20 odd minutes of the film, and they did that in two evenings so she was in and out.  I never got a chance to meet her until I was at some party in LA and she is just fantastic.  And she’s married to a guy called Bart Freadlich who is a director in his own right.
NH:  He’s a hero.
MG:  He is actually fabulous!  My girlfriend spent the whole evening calling him Bert instead of Bart and he was like ‘you know, actually I prefer Bert!  Don’t worry about it’.  He’s lovely. They could throw their weight around, but they are actually family people and live in New York – they’re kind of anti Hollywood.
ON THE LIFE OF AN ACTOR
MG: There are a lot of Brits and Aussies at the moment who are working.  I don’t know what that means.  But we never think of ourselves.  When you get off the plane and you’re in America they ask ‘what’s the best thing about being a movie star?’ I am a jobbing actor, they have no idea! They make it sound like I get 500 scripts and am sitting there going through them all. If something comes up and they are stupid enough to give it to us or you love the script and audition but someone of a huge stature can come in and take it like Brad Pitt. Or Judi [Dench] – we’ve been up against each other a couple of times.
NH: I’ve never lost out to Judi yet.
MG: Only in a drinking contest! The vicious alcoholic that she is!
NH: Sam Worthington was telling me when he was in LA someone asked him why there were so many Aussies over there doing so well and his response was that it’s an awful long way to go to fail and not give it your best shot, basically.
MG: Oh. I was expecting some sort of knob gag in there, but yeah.
NH: It’s very true. I just got back from LA and every TV series has an English guy in the lead. Joseph Fiennes, Matthew Reece [RHYS]
MG: We’re good. We’re quite good…
N H: I can’t say it’s the training, because I don’t have any.
MG: You’re doing well! You make people gasp! You complete cunt. I hate that!
NH: You’re coming across very eloquent.
MG: That’s very nice of you.  OK, who used to live with Ewan McGregor and Jude Law and he has a TV show? You’re right about that. Though it makes it sound like ‘Oh you’re English.  Have a TV show’.  I’m sure they all have about ten auditions.
NH: I had an interesting day recently when I was at a BBQ and Jimmy Page and Roger Daltrey were there.
MG: Wow!
NH: I sat there and was very quiet because I thought if I speak to them I’ll make a fool of myself so it’s best to keep out of the way and then they can’t have any bad thoughts although they probably didn’t know I was there.  But I knew they were there so it was a good BBQ for me.
MG: I’d love to learn guitar. It’s one of those things I’d love to do. Though it’s not like I don’t have the time…
NH: [Laughs]
MG: I’d like to know all the chords.
NH: It’s difficult to get the fingering right… That’s what she said.
MG: And back to Dame Judi!
NH: [Laughs]
MG: It depends if you have a high action or a low action in terms of the strings.  It hurts. You’ve got to build up the calluses. If you get a low action one that would be easier.
NH:  Are we still talking about women?
MG:  Yes! [Laughs] I remember Billy Crudup got the part in Almost Famous and he had lessons with Peter Frampton but had to have lessons on the side because Peter was like ‘you are fucking terrible’. But that’s one of the nice accidents of the job is you can get training in things. And random travel.
NH: I got to do archery.
MG: You did! That was The Weatherman!
NH: No, for Clash of the Titans. I didn’t use it once.
MG: Oh yes, it was the daughter in The Weatherman.
NH: Yeah man, keep up.
MG: Sorry mate. That’s how pretty you are. I confused you with the female lead.
NH: He’s seen all my work.
MG: I have! I’ve got to learn how to do it. You are a master.  I did a Spanish film and it was all in Spanish [!] – I learnt it phonetically. Jesus, that’s my only skill.  The major skill I picked up is I can pay my rent. The older you get the more you realize there are a lot of people who hate their jobs.  I’m so glad I’m not – ha!  Famous last words! – it does seem to be going OK for now.  But bringing it back to what do you like about acting – to be honest, everything.
ON BRITISH TALENT
MG:  I think there is an element that we’re just so happy to work.  Certainly as for getting into film it was such an accident because I hadn’t worked in front of a camera.  For a while it was like what is the secret code to working on screen?  I have no idea what it is… but even ten films in I’m still sitting here renting and not owning a house.  I think that keeps you grounded.  As opposed to some American actors who are on a hundred thousand dollars doing some TV.
NH:  You don’t get comfortable so you feel you’ve got to keep on striving.
MG: I think we’re overrated. [Laughs].  There is an element over there if you walk into a room of Americans that they’re suddenly like ‘oh fuck they’re British and we’re steeped in tradition.
NH:  It’s odd that Tom got so many English actors for the film – we’re both playing American.
MG:  And Julianne is playing English.
NH:  it’s good he trusts in us to pull of the American accents.
MG:  Yeah, I mean – idiot!  In fairness you’ve done it before and I have done it a couple of times.  But it is odd.   If you think who he probably could have had –
NH:  He probably could have done better than us!
MG:  I’m sure he could have convinced someone with a much higher stature.  I think it was just we were willing to work for free, effectively.  And that’s also what makes Britain great.  We want to work and we want to please the director and often at times, yes we might have strong thoughts on character and script, but we turn up and are like, this is your vision and you are the director and we know where we fit in. Certainly the Brits, I find, we want to be told what to do or how it’s going to work rather than, ‘I’m the fucking star!’ I tend to find we leave our ego at the door. We tend not to pussyfoot around. We all like a drink. We’re steeped in that tradition as well. There’s a certain forbidden thing in America if you drink you’re an alcoholic. No I’m not, and I generally wait until at least half past one.
NH: On weekends. Weekdays, 11.
MG: There is a reason pubs are opened at 11 and it’s because you are allowed to start drinking at that time. Otherwise, they wouldn’t do it! Christ, can you remember back to when – you might not remember, actually. I gasp at your beauty as I try to remember!
NH:[laughs] I’m never going to live this down!
MG:Do you remember when pubs shut on Sundays at, like, 1 for two or three hours? Maybe I’m showing my age now. That is fucking madness. There would be a riot now.
NH:  So basically, we haven’t found a conclusion to what makes Britain great…  You’re a big X Factor fan though, aren’t you?
MG:  My girlfriend loves it.  She’s got me into it.  I mean it’s fucking hilarious.  You literally sit there and you don’t know any of these people but the music comes up and they get selected and you can be in tears and so happy that these people have been selected for the live shows.  I really like the over 25’s this year.  They’re fucking great.
NH:  Matthew Goode on The X Factor!
MG:  ‘He’s very much into the over 25s and what is funny is they are all male’.  But it is great.  But then it’s such a machine.  There is such a turn around.  Sometimes the winner gets completely forgotten and they have no career and then, obviously, sometimes they go shooting up.  But it is great telly!  Saturday night, a couple of beers and The X Factor.

I just caught up to the current episode of 911. Jesus that ending 😭 I’m pretty sure I sat there and stared at the tv for a good five minutes afterwards in shock right along with Buck.
Okay get comfy because this is going to get long. I have a lot of thoughts on  why I think it’s more likely than ever that Buddie will become canon. I’ve seen a lot of fandom talking about why they feel the same and honestly it’s not surprising given the way that shooting scene played out. But I have some other thoughts I haven’t seen talked about yet too.
--
I’ve gone back and forth on whether or not I think Buddie will happen. I want them to get together in canon and I think the show should definitely make it happen and not just because us fans want it to happen either.
Since Eddie arrived the show has continually written Buck and Eddie in a way to say to the audience there’s more going on there. So I don’t think it’s some far fetched idea that so many of us ship them or want to see them end up together. I’ve shipped many characters who I knew were never going to get together in canon but Buddie has always felt different. It’s not just wishful thinking there’s a lot of substance there provided by the writers.
Still more recently I’d kind of lost hope that Buddie was ever going to happen. Throughout season 4 I’ve been wondering if the show was working on pulling Buck and Eddie in different directions. I figured maybe they were just tired of listening to the fans yell about Buddie. I figured it’s why we had been seeing a lot more of Taylor and Ana and why we rarely see Buck and Eddie and Chris spending time together the way we used to in season 3. It had actually been bumming me out a lot because I miss that dynamic in the show.
---
Last night’s episode changed my mind on that though and not just because of the shooting. I was worried at first when I saw that Carla was meeting Ana because I wondered where this was going. Like was the show trying to solidify Ana as a more substantial part of Eddie’s life now? Were they trying to show that she was important enough to start meeting more of the people in Eddie’s life? But I realized after watching that the whole reason Ana was even included in the episode was for Eddie and Carla to have the convo they did.
Eddie and Carla talk about Carla’s dad. Carla says that she was thankful she got to spend time with him (before he died) and she was sorry she left them (Eddie and Chris) Eddie says “you were where you were supposed to be”. When Eddie says that Carla gets this look on her face like she’s considering his words and thinking about the meaning and responds with a line of questioning that gets her to asking Eddie about Ana. Mainly I think because Carla is one of the people who knows Buck and Eddie better than anyone and when Eddie said to her “you were where you were supposed to be” she was likely thinking so how come you’re not where you’re supposed to be with Buck?
Eddie and Carla talk about Chris and how Eddie had been worried about him (after what happened to Shannon) and how happy he is to have Ana around.  Carla presses Eddie about how he feels about Ana and Eddie simply says “it’s easy being with her” (aka he doesn’t have to be emotionally invested). Carla responds and says she’s glad Eddie is moving on but most importantly she tells him “just be sure that you’re following your heart and not Christopher’s”.
The show easily could have framed this whole scene in a different way if they were planning on making Ana and Eddie into a more significant thing. Eddie could have responded and said he was following his heart being with Ana. The show could have shown Eddie watching Ana and Christopher with a sense of ease and love on his face instead he clearly looked like he was thinking about what Carla said and it was obvious he’d been running from the fact he was only with Ana for Christopher.
----
The other thing that made me feel like Buddie is much more of a certainty and the main thing I wanted to write this for since I haven’t seen anyone else really talking about it is what’s going on with the other couples and how that correlates with Buddie.
911 is obviously an ensemble show so some characters and ships will inevitably get more attention than others still there’s usually some that are the consistent main. For example Hen and Karen they’re a great couple but I wouldn’t necessarily call them a main couple of the show. To me the central canon couple of 911 is Athena and Bobby and second to them I think would be Chim and Maddie at least in season 4 where they’ve had a lot of focus given the baby storyline.
I think we’re headed towards both of these couples being on the rocks. Clearly Athena and Bobby are about to go through some stuff. I’m hoping Bobby doesn’t die but no matter what their marriage is in trouble at this moment. As for Maddie and Chim I think it’s likely that they’re headed for a postpartum depression storyline so that will probably spell some trouble for them too.
My point in all of this is if you watch the ending of the recent episode right after the argument between Athena and Bobby we saw the shooting with Buck and Eddie. In the promo for the next episode the majority of what we see is Buck and Eddie juxtaposed with what’s going on with Athena and Bobby and Chim and Maddie.
TV shows particularly drama ones like 911 ebb and flow and there’s usually some kind of balance. If you have one or more of your main couples in the middle of the worst times chances are you’ll see other couples in the best times. So while Athena and Bobby might be unraveling which hopefully is just temporary) in the midst of this shooting Buddie might be coming together or at least closer to getting there. More on that below. 👇
----
I don’t necessarily think that Buddie will just magically get together in the last episode of season 4. Part of me doesn’t even want that to happen. I think it makes much more sense for things with Buddie to happen gradually. Besides which nothing in tv ever wraps up that neat and tidy anyway. Shows like 911 thrive on drama so if Buddie is going to happen there has to be conflict involved before they get to that point.
My guess is that this shooting will push one of them to recognize their feelings for the other and he’ll want to tell the other one but something will stop him. I think it could be Buck. Like maybe while Eddie is recovering Buck talks to Taylor and finally realizes/admits his feelings for Eddie, to which she says something snarky like she knew that already. She pushes him to go tell Eddie the truth but when Buck goes to the hospital he ends up seeing Ana there and decides not to tell him. Maybe in season 5 we have to watch Buck figuring out his sexuality and dealing with his feelings for Eddie while seeing Eddie with someone else.
911 could also surprise us and it could be Eddie who realizes his feelings for Buck. We had that scene with Carla and Eddie and it’s clear that Eddie is only with Ana for Christopher. We had Carla telling Eddie to follow his heart. When you look at the symbolism of what happened during the shooting Eddie’s blood ended up all over Buck which is like a trail to this heart (albeit a morbid one) not to mention Eddie reached out for Buck when he was on the ground. So Eddie could wake up and realize the truth about his feelings for Buck and want to tell him but be afraid to loose his best friend. Or maybe Eddie is afraid to change anything now that Christopher seems happy again finally.
There could also just be a scene with them in the hospital or maybe Buck comes to stay with Eddie and Christopher to help take care of Eddie and and  it’s clear the atmosphere has changed between them. Like we don’t get anything super serious yet but there’s something more there and they both feel it but aren’t acting on it yet. Maybe Buck tells Eddie how he felt when he saw him get shot maybe Eddie tells him he reached for him. Maybe they both realize they couldn’t bare to loose the other.
Everything that’s happened thus far with Buck and Eddie feels like it’s leading towards something. It definitely feels like something is going to change with them heading into season 5. I feel like they’re going to leave us on some kind of cliffhanger and then drag out whatever happens next season. Which makes sense as it incentives more people to watch. But I’m more optimistic than ever that Buddie will happen now.
---
I do agree with what others have said that there’s no place really for the writers to go now than to put Buck and Eddie together even if it doesn’t happen immediately. The shooting scene was completely framed like Buck watched the man he loved get shot and they were even wearing complimenting colors which is something I’ve seen done often in movies and tv for lovers. They were staring at each other and reaching out. I mean how do you explain that if it doesn’t lead anywhere?
Not to mention the whole thing was done in slow motion and the scene didn’t focus on anyone else besides Eddie and Buck for a few minutes. It even had an almost a freeze frame with the two staring at each other across the street and since there was blood and the ambulance the whole scene was lit up bright red. And apart from everything else red is pretty much universally known as the color for love.
Tumblr media
One other thing I forgot to add was that the convo with Eddie and Carla happened in an episode called Suspicion where people are keeping things from the people they love. The mother keeping things from her bridezilla daughter, Bobby and Athena keeping things from each other, Maddie keeping her depression from Chimney, Hen’s mom keeping how sick she was from Hen.
Why would 911 choose this episode in particular to feature all this important Buddie stuff? That important convo with Carla and Eddie where Carla basically tells Eddie she knows he’s not following his heart. That crazy intense moment with the shooting where Buck and Eddie are just staring at each other like soulmates having to watch the person they love die.
Maybe because both Buck and Eddie have things they’re hiding? Things they’re hiding from themselves and things they’re keeping from the person they love the most. Each other.

Okay so I’ve seen a lot of conflicting responses to Buddie this episode, from it being clear to people that they’re getting together, to thinking the writers have unintentionally messed things up to thinking it’s purely queerbait.
And I get the different responses, I do - tbh I’m somehow in two camps, where I simultaneously believe it’s a slowburn but I also think it’s bait. And those are two very different opinions to have and it got me thinking about why we have these different responses as fans to the possibility of a queer ship (namely two men who would presumably be bi/pan) being canon.
While people talk about how it’s just people wanting two characters to kiss or entitled fans - sure, that’s existent in every fandom, but I think there’s also a very real fear from queer fans who don’t want to get their hopes up and I d on’t love how the conversation has shifted to calling queer fans stupid for having hope, so I kind of wanted to break it down into 3 aspects that I’ve noticed:
How writers portray bi characters and why that makes fans hesitant to have hope
What queerbait actually means as a concept
How much “slowburn” has changed in procedurals
1. How writers portray bi characters
Something I’ve thought about a lot are the bi characters I’ve seen on TV - Darryl (CEG), Sara Lance (Arrow), Lucifer (Lucifer), just to name a few. These are great characters imo and I think you’d have a fun time watching but a thing to note is that all these characters were established as bi within the first season of their respective shows and they all fairly quickly fell into a clear romantic ship as well (with the exception of Sara as she spanned multiple shows). It may have taken time for them to say the word bisexual, but it was still clear these characters were queer fairly quickly on. You could maybe argue that Lucifer was a slowburn, but then (while it does not take away from him being bi/pan so do not use this as an excuse to be shitty about him) it’s a m/f ship which is still not the point of my post, to find a m/m or f/f ship that has that same treatment.
Some writers have done it - like for Valencia in CEG, or Petra in JTV - when they saw that fans read them this way, but trying to find those characters were few and far between, and when I looked at popular queerbait ships (whether or not they actually are queerbait) it’s usually ships where the characters are largely viewed as bisexual. A lot of times this also comes with pushback from both straight and to be frank, other queer fans as well. Straight fans don’t always see the signs that queer fans do, so to them a queer character who hasn’t been explicitly clear from the start comes out of nowhere. And what I’ve seen from certain queer fans are concerns that people aren’t appreciating the canon queer characters in a show - and I think there is a conversation to be had about that, but I don’t think the response should also be about then demanding less representation for people either.
If we go back to 911, people talk a lot about how it has canon queer characters, which it definitely does - Michael, Hen, Josh, Karen, and David are all canonically gay/lesbian and that’s awesome, and we absolutely should talk about fans (white fans in particular) ignoring these characters. It also does not change the fact that none of these characters are bisexual and that is the representation people are looking for. Both of these things are true - these characters are often under appreciated in canon AND people deserve bisexual representation. They don’t contradict each other and to act like one negates the other does a huge disservice.
And even if a character was made bisexual in the canon text we don’t get that slowburn. This may be true for things like Leverage, or LOK, but there’s also a real fact of censorship that affected these shows and the fact that general audiences may not understand the queer text tjat the writers intended. It doesn’t make the writing any less wonderful or the ships any less poignant or beautiful or important, and there’s ofc shows like She Ra that made this more obvious (or the.....mess that was Supernatural that made it. Half true?) but these are still real things that should be acknowledged on why people are so hesitant to call it slowburn - because it’s something most queer fans haven’t SEEN DONE, because m/f ships will get that care for slowburn when it’s done but it’s not done for m/m or f/f ships in that same capacity.
2. What queerbait is
This one’s fun because I don’t think many people understand what it is, but queerbait is very dependent on the intentions of the writers/creators/etc. - which tbh can be hard to gauge, because a genuine intention that ended up not happening or someone baiting fans or someone trying to support all ships and not be rude all have very different intentions but to a fan who only sees bits and pieces of this person on social media, it can be hard to gauge.
Honestly with how much the 4th wall gets broken because of social media now I’d personally say we’ve probably moved into a different definition of queerbait - unintentional vs intentional - because we’re at a point where a show knows what ships are popular and at what level of excitement fans are for it - but that being said, there’s still a clear spectrum of intent. And imo? I don’t think 911 has that intent of queerbait - whether it’s a slowburn or they have a different vision for buddie that I (probably) won’t agree with remains to be seen, but this show usually treats its storylines with care. Are they perfect at it? No, definitely not, I definitely think that they’ve dropped the ball a few times (especially with just how many characters they have lmao), but they also clearly do their storylines with earnest and with genuine care for these characters.
Is 911 getting them together? I want to say yes. I don’t think this was always the plan, just something that they decided along the way, but I also don’t think that changes anything about the ship. A lot of people point to Tim Minear being vague about the ship, or the actors and their interpretations, but 1. We have no idea what they’ve been told about Buddie moving forward and 2. No show runner is going to spoil their show that much. 911 may be keeping quiet because they have a different plan for buddie, sure, but also maybe because they’re still figuring out how exactly they want to do this and/or they want to make this slowburn and don’t want to give it away.
3. Slowburn in procedurals
I feel like this is something that procedurals have started shying away from, but slowburns used to be very common - Bones, Castle, their ships didn’t get together for literal years, but that’s just not something that many shows do nowadays, even for m/f ships. Even things like Deckerstar will have the characters get together after ~3 seasons and explore the relationship onwards, whereas a few years ago, y ou’d pr obably be watching a sh ow and it’d take them 7 seasons to get together. My assumption for this is that shows are afraid  of getting canceled, but there’s been a pretty big shift in getting a couple together after say, 6 seasons to now getting them together about halfway through the show. I don’t think either one is bad or good - in good writers’ hands, either can be amazing - but that shift has made it so that a lot of younger fans in particular, I think, don’t fully recognize slowburn when they see it.
911 as a show tends to run pretty fast - it kind of has to with its depth of characters they have - but when they do have slower running storylines they really do make use of that as well. Bobby’s addiction is something that’s always going to be present in his character, May’s suicide attempt was brought up again front and center after 3 seasons, even Chim’s dynamic with the Lees was brought up again and it was reinforced again that they’re his family. There are certain storylines that have to be continuous and aren’t a one and done type of thing, and that includes Buck and Eddie, especially if you want to establish them as queer to a general audience who doesn’t think about these things.
And honestly, despite my fears, I think they are laying groundwork there. We have Buck learning to be more confident in his relationships, we have Eddie ready to date and learning to follow his own heart, we have Buck and Eddie both establishing that Buck is family and will always be there for Christopher. These are pretty big steps to do for a ship and we’ll obviously have to see how the show goes forward but they’ve already insinuated Eddie and Ana are breaking up, I’m sure Taylor and Buck may last a season and be over, but we do have to see what this next season brings. Do I think they’d say this? No, definitely not.
tl;dr:
911 is a show with good viewership, but there’s always a possibility they can’t continue with their season and then their promises would feel like a lie. Or they may still be hammering out the details as this season hasn’t been written. Or they may just simply not want to spoil their show,  or they don’t want people criticizing a story before it’s finished, all of these could be reasons. The showrunners, writers, actors, ultimately they owe nothing to us as a fandom to potentially spoil their series, or do something, change it or their schedule for it, and get accused of bait.
But it also doesn’t change why fans are wary of this storyline either, and I wish people would have more nuance and compassion for fans who are worried about queerbait (whether they think it’s not queerbait and dislike people worrying about it or if they do and are calling people idiots for believing it). There’s a lot of reasons why fans are wary and don’t want to have hope, and it’s not necessarily about 911 specifically as it is a pattern of writing seen in other pieces that have fans worried. These things can all coexist and I wish we as fandom in general could acknowledge that, because pretending that they don’t and criticizing each other/people’s intentions or knowledge when they have certain expectations also doesn’t do much to help.

I have a lot of thoughts on the new promo lmao, but I’ll put the specific ones all under the cut, under what each one is about.
Promo general thoughts:
What's really weird about that new promo is that FOX and in general, everyone, kind of...avoids the topic of Buddie as a unit, whether platonic or not. I mean news articles ask because it would obviously be a great scoop given how many people ship it, but FOX promos and actors and all have just kind of....skimmed the surface of whatever Buck and Eddie are because no one really knows. This promo was so explicit about all of it, which is the weirdest.
Also, the idea of having an entire promo focused on Eddie’s recap and what the road ahead kind of looks like, and in that same breath bring up Buck and Eddie without even mentioning “they’re best friends/their bromance is amazing.” They say things like...they feed off each other, and they bring out the best in each other, and that’s soulmate/romantic partner stuff to say. It’s not something you say just...casually?
Also I heard “I’ve fallen in love with Eddie” and it didn’t click it was Ryan’s voice so I nearly died of a heart attack today.
Onto the specific ones:
"I’m still not over it."
Tumblr media
(gif by @cinematicnomad)
It's clearly after the crossover, though no one knows how soon after. There's a lot of things Eddie could be referring to here, and I'm absolutely not refuting the idea of Shannon being the thing he’s not over because they did a number on each other, evidently.
But there's also...two of their team members get thrown into danger back-to-back. Buck with the supposed warehouse fire, and Hen with the helicopter.
Now.....Eddie's helicopter went down with him in it, too. He knows how that works/feels/what it does to you, but maybe seeing one of his friends in that situation dredges back up things he's been trying to push down, maybe for himself or for his family. From the promo, it looks like they watch the helicopter go down, so Eddie could be feeling lots of things here. Also, in a short period of time, both Buck and Hen (again, large assumption) nearly die (again, even though this is still an assumption).
Sometimes....it just hits you how fragile the idea of life really is. Despite being in a profession like this one, watching members of your team, of your found family, nearly die places the fear of mortality in yourself, but also the fear of losing any more people than you have to, or already have.
This talk with Bobby can come from a bunch of different ways:
Eddie's sitting, pensive at the table when Bobby joins him
Eddie's quiet and withdrawn all day and Bobby pulls him aside to ask if he's okay
Something doesn't go right during the last call because of unnecessary risks taken?
Eddie's distracted on call, which is beyond unusual
He's clearly struggling with something, which could be anger or fear or grief, and Bobby pulls him aside to check in (probably not this one because this already happened)
He's staring blankly outside or whatever, and Bobby joins him
Eddie can't sleep during a late shift and Bobby spots him, joining him
Could be a regular ol’ check in (highly-doubt this one)
General thoughts on the smiles you can see in the linked gifset by @cinematicnomad:
Tumblr media
Somehow...Eddie seems a lot more open and softer to me in a sense. It’s usually Buck who’s passing these smiles towards Eddie, but the role reversal is something I’ve been looking forward to. I could be completely overthinking this (I’m clearly not), but if you take a look at the second gif in that set where he has his adorable fangs out then you know that in both these, he’s looking at Buck. The wider shot of this shows someone that looks uncannily like Buck does (this isn’t clowning, it’s in the ears).
I genuinely think that Eddie’s arc for this season (even if it hasn’t started yet) will have to do with Buck in a large way. Buck’s 3A arc had a lot to do with Eddie and Christopher, in many ways, and now...I think we might be on track to see an arc for Eddie Diaz that includes one Evan Buckley, however that may be.
Angst Headcanons (most are Buddie):
Eddie’s put in a situation where he struggles to retain the control he usually keeps on himself, which is different from the ladder truck only in the fact that...they weren't as close and Eddie wasn't in any frame of mind to be thinking about anything else. also there was a bomb but y'know
Basically we need a parallel to Buck in Eddie Begins
Don't imagine Buck going home after the fire only to find like fifteen million texts from Eddie to check in.
Alternatively, don't imagine Buck going home after the fire to find an unusual silence from Eddie who normally texts after a rough shift to check in
Alternatively to that, don't imagine Buck trying to go home and Eddie coercing him into coming back to the Diaz household and then they check in with Chris together and goodbye
Whatever you do, don't imagine Eddie going home, already wired and restless from the events of the warehouse fire (insert equal emergency here), and he's all out of sorts and can't exactly figure out why because buck nearly dies everywhere but this time it was different and whatever you do, don't imagine him standing blankly in the middle of his room, mind racing far enough that he tangles himself up in "oh. oh."

what he deserves
Ship: Buck/Eddie
Summary: It had to be done - someone had to do it, to make sure Buck got the best in life, what he truly wanted. As the old adage says, “if you love someone, let them go.” Eddie could only hope it paid off in the end, because it really wasn’t feeling as though it would.
Words: 2.4k
Eddie didn’t want to be angry at Buck - it felt wrong, went against every fibre of his being, to feel so pissed off with Buck, of all people, his best friend, his partner, the most selfless man he knew, who would never do anything with the intent of hurting anyone else.
But anger was easy. Anger was familiar, being consumed by a burning rage was comfortable, easy, no matter how much he didn’t like it - no matter how much it scared Eddie, because it was too easy - and he couldn’t afford to fall back into old habits.
What Eddie was certain of, however, was that he would rather be pissed off at Buck, he would rather risk going back to what he swore to himself, to Buck, that he would never do again, than move beyond the anger. Because he didn’t know what would lie beyond it, but he was sure it would be a hell of a lot more frightening than all of the possibilities which anger provided him with.
He knew if he hadn’t stopped attending therapy as soon as it had stopped being mandated for him, that his therapist would have most likely told him that he had to move past anger, that he had to acknowledge what he really felt, but that was bullshit. Therapy had never really been Eddie’s thing, anyways.
So Eddie would sit and let his anger stew for a while, letting it simmer inside, burning him up from the insides - he deserved it anyway, he thought, as he tried desperately to make excuses to his own mind as to why it was right for him to do what he so clearly knew to be wrong.
He deserved to hurt himself by letting the anger build, he decided, because he simply managed to miss that something was so significantly wrong with Buck, that he wasn’t - wouldn’t be - happy in their relationship. Eddie had never wanted to do anything but protect and love Buck, but he had done nothing but fail at that, evidently.
It was all just made worse by the fact that Buck didn’t say anything, that he never had. He had never mentioned that he wanted more, that just Christopher and Eddie couldn’t be enough for him.
Instead, Eddie found out because he simply happened to walk past at just the right - or as it felt, wrong - time.
“I’ve always wanted a kid of my own.”
That was all it took. Eddie didn’t even know what on Earth Buck had been talking about with Chim for that to come up, but it had, and that was all that mattered.
Eddie would bend over backwards for Buck, he would do almost anything he could to make things as good as they could be for him, because he deserved it, but of course, the one thing that Buck wanted, was the one thing that Eddie was unable to provide.
A child. Of his own.
Eddie had always known that Buck loved children - he had made that clear from very early on in their friendship, and the way he was with Christopher was proof. Buck had proven that he would walk through hell and back for him, and Eddie knew that Buck was his son’s absolute favourite person in the world. He had always figured that would be enough for Buck, had always hoped it would be, because Eddie couldn’t give Buck a child of his own, nor was he sure if he was in a position in his life to have another child, if it were even a distant possibility.
As he thought about it, the anger began to dissipate, much to Eddie’s disappointment, because he knew what was coming.
Waves of sadness began to wash over him, and as they crashed and crashed, it felt like he was drowning. He preferred the violent, scorching pain of rage, to this dull, aching feeling that left him desperately gasping for breath, for a tiny bit of happiness, that was nowhere to be found.
Eddie hated to wallow in self-pity, but it was better to sit alone and sulk than to force anyone else to deal with his chaos, his broken heart.
Because he knew, no matter how much he wished he could, that he would do whatever it took to make Buck happy.
The strange selflessness was proof of Buck’s impact, proof of all of the ways he had changed Eddie for the better. And now Eddie had to do just one thing, one tiny thing, for the betterment of Buck’s life.
He had to let go, no matter how much it hurt, or how much he hated doing it. Buck would never do it for himself, not even if it was holding him back from happiness.
--
Eddie wasn’t sure which had been harder - breaking up with Buck, watching his crestfallen expression, which did nothing to make Eddie feel better about breaking his own heart on some Buck-esque self-sacrificial attempt at doing the right thing, or telling Christopher that Dad and Buck weren’t dating anymore, that Buck wouldn’t spend almost every night with them anymore. Both just made Eddie wish he could have stayed oblivious, that it then wouldn’t have been him that was the bad guy who had to do the breaking up - which, he had realised, would probably lead to him being alienated at work (they had all always liked Buck more than him, not that he could fault them for that, he felt the same way, but it meant that there would be hell to pay for hurting him, even though it was for Buck) - and who had to break the news to his son.
But it had to be done - someone had to do it, to make sure Buck got the best of life, what he truly wanted. As the old adage says, “if you love someone, let them go.” Eddie could only hope it paid off in the end, because it really wasn’t feeling as though it would.
--
When Eddie turned up to the 118 for his next shift, it was clear everyone knew what had happened. Buck had told Maddie, who had told Chim, and before long, the entire firehouse knew exactly what Eddie had done.
Eddie Diaz had been just the next in line to break Buck’s heart, just as Abby had before him, which he had sworn to never do. He was certain he was angrier at himself for doing so than anyone else, but he also knew it was for the best. It was for Buck. It had to be.
But all of the excuses he had for his actions within his head meant nothing to the others, who refused to so much as talk to him in passing, which only felt worse, because their shift was so quiet, and they were stuck there, just them.
While Hen, Chimney, Bobby and Buck sat up in the kitchen, each doing their own thing but sharing the space, Eddie had isolated himself to the gym - it was easier to be on his own of his own volition, and to pretend it wasn’t essentially going to be forced upon him.
Eddie tried to lose himself in what he was doing, tried to get each punch to the bag to take him further out of his mind, with little success, although it had rendered him unaware enough of his surroundings that he had not noticed Hen walking up behind him for far too long, not until she cleared her throat to get his attention.
He kept his back turned to her, not particularly keen to be chewed out for breaking up with Buck, for hurting him, when Buck was hardly the most hurt in the situation.
“Eddie, what happened?” She asked, as Eddie continued to try and tune her out. “You were both so happy.”
Eddie rolled his eyes at Hen’s words, because that’s what he had thought too, but he kept his focus firmly on the punching bag in front of him.
“Clearly not,” he muttered, not even sure that Hen would hear him, but she did, and reached out to touch his shoulder, causing him to turn around.
“Look, I can’t deal with you berating me for upsetting poor little Buck right now, okay, and I don’t think it’s really even your place to get involved.”
Eddie felt a little bad for snapping at her, but at the same time, he didn’t have the capacity to deal with the consequences of actions he hadn’t even wanted to take - not yet.
Hen, however, was clearly unbothered, used to dealing with people far ruder than Eddie, on what could be as often as a daily basis, in their job.
“Hey, I haven’t come here for Buck. I wanted to make sure you are okay, this can’t have been easy on you, and I hope you don’t think we are all against you.”
That made Eddie feel the slightest bit better, to have someone who wasn’t against him, when even he himself was conflicted on it, but it left him unsure as to what to say, because he wasn’t okay, but any attempt at a lie, Hen would almost immediately see right through him. He had to try anyway.
“I’m fine Hen, it's fine.”
As he predicted, Hen immediately gave him a look along the lines of are you fucking kidding me, not taking his bullshit for one moment.
“No its not, Eddie, and if you don’t want to talk about it with me, fine, but for the love of God, please talk to someone, okay?” After a moment where neither spoke, she began walking away, but briefly turned around - “You are as much our family as Buck is. It’s not that we don’t care about you, or blame you, it’s just much harder to tell when something is wrong than with Buck.”
Any other time he would have rolled his eyes at what she was saying, but to be honest, he appreciated the reassurance, because when they were all ignoring him, but were so concerned about Buck, it stung, just a bit, even if he deserved it.
“He wants a kid.”
Hen faced Eddie again, furrowing her eyebrows as she tried to work out what Eddie meant - Buck had always been so happy with Eddie and with Christopher.
“I heard him say it to Chimney. He wants a kid, one of his own.”
Eddie looked up from his hands, which he had been fiddling with as he spoke softly, to see Hen looking at him pityingly, but also to see Chim walking towards them, seemingly summoned by his name.
“Aw, Eddie, are you sure he meant that? Maybe it was out of context? Because you know that Buck loves Christopher like his own.”
“Well clearly that wasn’t enough for him!” He exclaimed, anger flooding through his veins as he tried to rein it back in - it wasn’t Hen’s fault that he hadn’t been enough for Buck, the same way he hadn’t been enough for Shannon. “So it’s done now. He can go off and find some woman and have a kid of his own. It’d be unfair of me to hold him back from that.”
Chim must have been close enough to hear what Eddie was saying, as a look of realisation, mixed with the same pity on Hen’s, painted his face.
“That’s not what he was saying, you know? Buck is so in love with you, and Christopher is his entire world. You are both everything that he has ever wanted.”
Eddie looked at Chim curiously, confused, because Chim had been a part of the initial conversation, and what he was saying seemed so far the opposite of what he had heard.
“Buck has always wanted a kid of his own, and he has one now, thanks to you - or he did.”
Eddie wondered if Hen and Chim could tell that the only thing he could think was oh shit. He had just ruined the best relationship he had ever been in over a misunderstanding.
“Go get him back, Eddie,” Hen said, smiling, and Eddie knew he had to do just that.
He made his way up the stairs to the kitchen area, trying to work out how on Earth he could grovel enough to make up for what he did. Eddie found Buck sat alone, Bobby having returned to his office.
“Buck, I- uh, I need to apologise,” Eddie began, looking at Buck, his eyes red and puffy, which just tugged on his heartstrings to see, knowing he was the cause.
Buck wouldn’t even look up at him.
“I, uh, heard you talking to Chim.”
Eddie watched as Buck looked up, horror all over his face.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to overstep Eddie, I know Christopher is just your son and always will be, I just… love you both.”
Buck’s apology confused Eddie for a moment, because none of this was remotely his fault, Buck hadn’t said anything wrong - what part of the conversation was he even referring to? - but was he surprised by the show of Buck’s self-flagellating nature? Not particularly - Buck never had mastered being nice to himself.
“Overstep? You are my best friend, we are family! You could never! I thought you didn’t want us anymore.”
It was Buck’s turn to look confused, his head tilted to the side as he looked up towards Eddie.
“Why would you think that?”
“You said that you wanted a kid of your own, and I can’t give that to you!”
Buck’s eyes widened as Eddie spoke, eventually a slight smile appearing as he realised what had happened.
“And you didn’t listen past that? Eddie, you should know that you and Chris are all I need, or want.”
Begrudgingly, Eddie smiled slightly too.
“Yeah I should have, shouldn’t I?”
Buck stood up and made his way to where Eddie was standing, pulling him tight.
“I’m so glad I didn’t lose you,” Buck murmured, speaking softly into Eddie’s shoulder, his eyes welling up slightly with relief and joy.
“I love you, Buck.”
Eddie smiled as he said that, but before Buck was able to say it back, the bell began to ring out through the station, causing them to pull apart, rolling their eyes.
As they raced down the stairs to meet with the rest of the team, they were greeted with a grateful chorus of cheers from their friends.
They grinned, and Buck lent over to kiss Eddie on his cheek.
“Yeah, yeah, we know, you’re back together, but please, do not subject us to your ridiculous PDA. We do not need to see that.”

The prompt 40 from lost 2 for KitTy had been from the fluff list, the prince(ss) one.
But if you’re only doing list one right now, fluff 34, and in case I’m getting the number wrong, it’s the sweater prompt, with KitTy. (And personally I’ve always pictured Kit as a person who borrows the clothes of the people that he loves)
Hi anon, I love this suggestion 😆 (I also have the same headacanon about Kit, so this fits perfectly). I don't accept promts from the second list only because it'd become even more confusing. But for you I will combined these two because it's a little bit of a challenge :3
Send me prompt(s) + a ship and I will write something little for you!
PROMPTS: (34# fluff) “Why are you wearing my sweater?” “Because it smells like you.” + (40# fluff, prompt list 2) “I’m not your prince(ss).”
Domestic fluff
This is the most fluffy thing I have ever written, with zero angst, enjoy it until I'm in the mood 😂
When Kit woke up, he found himself in an empty bed. Ty was probably already awake. He liked waking up early in the morning to run. He said that he liked that there weren't many people around.
As Kit was walking towards the bathroom he smelled coffee. Ty was awake and at home. Kit smiled at the thought.
When he returned to their bathroom, he was still sleepy. He wanted to hug Ty. He suddenly missed him which was ridiculous because he was literally in the next room and they went to bed together.
He lazily searched the room for something to wear. He spotted one of Ty's hoodies. Without thinking Kit grabbed it and hugged it. It smelled like Ty. He impulsively put it on. He felt warm and surrounded by Ty's scent.
He decided he wanted tea. The last few days he was functioning only because of coffee and energy drinks. It was free time now and Kit couldn't even look at an energy drink with thinking about studying and this terrified him a bit.
After that he went to the living room where Ty was. He was sitting on the sofa, his laptop in his lap, taiping something on it.
“Good morning,” Ty said absently.
“Morning, babe.”
Ty stopped taiping. “Babe?”
“I was trying it out.”
“No,” Ty shook his head.
“Okay then. I will keep looking,” Kit decided he was too lazy right now to make new tea so he just warmed up the one from yesterday.
He carefully took the hot cup of tea and added a little sugar. Then Kit went to the sofa and sat next to Ty.
Ty looked at him and arched an eyebrow. “Why are you wearing my sweater?”
Kit blushed a little. “Because it smells like you.”
Ty smiled and returned his gaze to the laptop. “Okay. But I will want it at some point.”
“And I will return it at some point. After a while it will stop smelling like you. You will need to wear it a little so I can steal it again.”
Ty laughed and Kit smiled too. Ty quickly kissed Kit's cheek and then returned to whatever he was doing.
“What's this?” Kit asked, moving closer to Ty.
“I'm checking my timetable for the semester,” Ty explained. “I want to take one more class for extra credit.”
Kit blinked. “Didn't the exams end two days ago? What do you need extra credit for?”
“That's true,” Ty said. “But I want to be prepared for the worst. If I fail one or two of my exams I will need extra credit.”
Kit shook his head. “This is ridiculous. You're one of the smartest people I know. There is no way for you to fail.”
“Better safe than sorry,” Ty just said.
Kit just drank from his tea without saying anything. He couldn't argue with Ty on this. He was studying hard, hardly ever missed classes and every teacher loved him. But Ty said once that if he doesn't have some backup plan he's anxious. He couldn't not have a backup plan.
“Anyway,” Kit said. “When you woke up?”
“Around eight, I think. Maybe a little bit earlier.”
“You're insane,” Kit murmured as he drank from the tea. “Truly insane.”
“Then I went for a run, took a shower, had breakfast,” Ty shrugged. “Doing this now.”
“How do you even do it?” Kit wondered. “Like, we live together for over two weeks...”
“Sixteen days,” Ty pointed out.
“And I have never heard you when you get up for running. Not even once! Are you a ninja or something?”
Ty smiled a little. “I have to be quiet to not wake up my prince.”
Kit frowned. “I’m not your prince.”
Ty raised an eyebrow. “You so are.”
“I'm not!” Kit insisted.
“Since I know you have never got up early. Even for lectures!”
“That's because I'm not a morning person! I don't know who thought that waking up early is a good idea.”
“And whenever is your turn to make dinner, you order pizza or Chinese food.”
“That's because I can't cook for shit! Besides, sometimes I order McDonald's...”
“Plus, you started stealing my clothes now. And you will get out of it unpunished!”
“But I admitted my crime! It's you who isn't tough enough to "punish" me,” Kit grinned.
“Okay,” Ty signed. “But you can dance waltz. This is pretty princely to me.”
Kit frowned once again. “But it... it was only for Emma and Julian's party... Jace taught me so I can dance with Emma... but she also didn't know how to dance it... It was just a prank!”
Ty looked amused. “Prank or not, you can dance waltz Christopher. Just accept it.”
Kit groaned. “Why can't I never win a dispute with you? I shouldn't have dated a guy with so good grades.”
“We literally have the same average grade?”
“See? You always win!”
Ty shook his head with a smile and finally put the laptop away. Kit was almost done with his cup of tea too so he left it on the table.
“Come here,” Ty murmured softly. Kit did it willingly, waiting for this since he woke up. He hugged Ty, spooning at him. Ty wrapped his arms around him and Kit buried his face in Ty's neck.
“This is so nice,” Kit murmured. “Why don't we do it more often?”
“Because we are too busy studying or sleeping. Or having s-”
“Don't even start” Kit laughed.
A/N: I hope you enjoyed this 💞 Also, I have no idea for all this university stuff so I just come up with what would fit my fic, it's probably incorrect 😆

Pretty lies, ugly truths
The control room had detected a new singularity. This one was located in the spanish capital of Madrid in modern day.
Da Vinci: we can't detect much about the singularity itself, it seems that there's a powerful magical field around the whole thing.
Rex: well fuck... will we be able to even communicate?
Sion: we'll work on making communications work while you're out there but for the beginning you'll be on your own.
Rex: ugh...
Gordy: you'll be able to handle it, can't be that bad of a singularity right?
Rex: I feel like you're jinxing us.
Da Vinci: regardless, this one's a big one. It needs to be handled soon!
Rex: we'll handle it!
Chaldea was sending in Rex, Quetzalcoatl, and Mash Kyrielight into the Madrid singularity to handle things. Soon the three got into their coffins and rayshifting commenced.
3...2...1!
Once they were inside the singularity, they noticed something odd... it was snowing heavily.
Rex: holy crap... that's a heavy snow...
Mash: yes, maybe the snow is what's interfering with the signal.
Quetz: does that mean it's a magical snow? Like in sca- Ugh!
Out of nowhere Quetz doubles over in pain
Rex: Quetz!
Rex runs over to help but before he can something interrupts them.
???: Weigh Anchor!
Out of nowhere a huge ship appears in the streets of the city, heading towards the group
Mash: Senpai!
Mash moves to shield Rex and Quetz from the ship but ends up knocked away along with Rex
Rex: fuck!
Then coming from the ship, chains appear binding Quetzalcoatl, who was too weakened to be able to break free
Quetz: que?! What's going on?!
Rex: Hey! Let her go!
???: finally! We've been waiting for you for a long time!
Quetz: huh?!
When the group looked up at the ship, they recognized it. It was the Santa Maria that Columbus captained. But the man on top looked different.
Columbus?: I'm so sorry Missy, but the boss needs your spirit origin. And what the boss wants, he gets.
The man dressed similar to Columbus but looked much younger and less sinister.
Rex: who the hell are you?! Let go of my wife!
Columbus?: you don't know who I am? Well... then again... I guess you've become accustomed to the real me. Alright! Listen up laddy! Because this will probably be the last name you hear about before die!
Rex and Mash looked up at the man, both angry at the bastard.
Columbus: I am Christopher Columbus! But specifically I'm the Columbus you were told about in your schools! The heroic traveler who against all odds managed to discover America! I'm not the horrible schemer and slaver you're accustom to!
Rex: so you're the lie we were fed as children to justify your farce of a holiday?!
Columbus: rude way to put it but yes! Now if you'll excuse me!
The man snapped his fingers and out came an army of men clad in red appeared.
Rex: what the-
Mash: senpai! That's the spanish inquisition!
Rex: seriously!?
Mash: looks like them!
Columbus: that's right lil lady! Anyways, I'll be leaving you to them while I take this lady back to the base! Seeya!
The boat leaves, with Quetzalcoatl inside, unable to do much.
Rex: DAMN YOU!!!!
Rex wanted to make chase but the inquisition members blocked him off
Soldier: give it up master of chaldea! You do not stand a chance against the inquisition!
Rex: fuck off asshats!
In all his Fury Rex blasts fire at the soldiers, while Mash fights them off with her shield.
Mash: senpai! There's too many!
Rex: to hell with that! We've faced worse odds and came out fine! I'll be damned if I let them get away with my wife!
But the odds really were looking grim, until suddenly the snow intensified around them, mostly focusing on the soldiers.
Soldier 1: ack! The snow! What's happening!
Soldier 2: must be that damned ice queen!
Rex: ice queen?
Then from behind Rex and Mash, another servant comes in to get them out of there, Shakespeare.
Shakespeare: come on you two! We need to get you to safety!
Rex: but I need to save Quetz!
Shakespeare: that can wait! You need to be alive to do so anyway!
Rex: alright fine!
Then the two follow Shakespeare towards safety.
Soldier: where'd the two go!?
The group came out of the storm and were taken into what looked to be a book store. Inside were the two other authors Rex was familiar with.
Anderson: how'd it go Shakespeare?
Shakespeare: not amazing, they got to her.
Murasaki: how unfortunate.
Rex: can someone tell me what's going on?
Mash: yes, I'd appreciate that too.
Murasaki: this is a very unique singularity, it was intended as a trap.
Rex: a trap!? For Quetz?!
Anderson: yes, for whatever reason some mastermind wants her spirit origin. We're not sure why or who, but we do know it can't be good.
Rex: then we have to save her!
Murasaki: you're not in a condition to fight right now, and besides that mastermind won't won't able to do anything as of yet.
Mash: how can you be certain.
Shakespeare: we've been summoned here for a while and we've observed that the man in charge isn't here. There's someone in charge of the singularity but they're taking orders from someone else, somewhere else.
Anderson: and I've stopped their communications with said boss with my Ice Queen's blizzard.
Mash: you're responsible for the snow?
Rex: how can you make such a powerful snowstorm with a fictional character?
Murasaki: that's the nature of this singularity. Somehow authorial works have far more power. We assume who ever made this trap of a singularity is responsible.
Mash: have any guesses as to who it is?
Shakespeare: oh do we!
Anderson: we're pretty sure it's Miguel de Cervantes.
Mash: what makes you so sure?
Murasaki: because one of his most famous creations is also one of the greatest threats here: Don Quixote.
Rex: Don Quixote? But he was just some old delusional fool who thought he lived in a knight story!
Anderson: yeah, normally. But it seems his delusions became a noble phantasm! That turns fantasy into reality.
Mash: could that be why stories are becoming real all in this singularity?
Murasaki: we believe so...
Mash: fantasy to reality... so that makes you three the perfect allies... but what's the plan...
But Rex was getting antsy, wandering the shelves of the book store. He hated being without his wife, it'd been a long time since they were separated like this.
Mash: senpai...
Shakespeare: he can't handle it...
Rex looked through the books, eventually coming to the comics section...
Rex: hey... if you can turn fantasy into reality... how about pulling a Moriarty on me...
Mash: huh? Senpai what are you talking about?
Rex: Moriarty has that gun from that one German story... if the authors can do something similar to help me... I can save her.
Murasaki: that doesn't sound outside the realm of possibility.
Anderson: what did you have in mind?
Rex: lemme see If I can find it...
He looked through the comics, until he found what he was looking for.
Rex: ah ha! This here!
He pulled out a book, and opened to a particular page. In it was planet, a planet made of a dark colored ooze. The inhabit creepy looking slime monsters.
Rex: this! Symbiotes from marvel.
Shakespeare: interesting...
Anderson: not sure how I feel adapting a modern work like that...
Rex: just do it! I'll be able to save her with these powers.
Rex already had some servant abilities, with a small amount of authority from Quetz and the leftover spirit from Cipatli. But they weren't much, with this he hoped to complete it to make a proper spirit origin, or something akin to one.
Mash: senpai... is this really a good idea?
Rex: I Need to save her... I hate being without her... and I want to skewer the fools who took her away...
Murasaki: I can see the pain he's feeling... we should help...
Anderson: fine, we'll turn you into an alien monster. But it likely won't stick when this singularity's fixed.
Rex: so long as I get my wife back I'm fine with it.
The three authors put to use their abilities to infuse Rex with the alien symbiote. Slowly an ooze formed onto his body, colored dark blue, black and red. Then his body was complete engulfed in the slime. It formed something akin to a tight fitting costume with a mask not far off from a lucha mask.
Rex: ...feels weird...
Mash: at least it looks to have worked... what can you do?
First Rex changed his hand to form a large blade.
Rex: that... I can slice a bitch.
After changing it back, he was then able to form flames from his hands, dark blue in color.
Rex: oh!
Anderson: how the hell?
Mash: he did have some of Quetzalcoatl's authority. Maybe it's been enhanced.
Rex: hahahaha! Now let's go! Where the hell could they have taken her!
Shakespeare: not exactly sure where they operate, but Columbus should now.
Rex: you think he'll be out there?
Murasaki: yes, him and his inquisition have been hunting us ever since they found out about us.
Anderson: as authors not aligned with Miguel we pose a great threat here.
Rex: yeah, I can tell why.
Then Rex's communicator started up.
Da Vinci: hello?! Is this thing working?
Rex: we hear ya!
Da Vinci: finally! How's everything?
Mash: not so great.
Da Vinci: what happened?
Rex: the enemy took Quetz!
Da Vinci: what!? And what's with the getup? And why do you have an avenger class spirit origin?
Rex: long story, I'm a monster now. Going to save Quetz!
With that Rex leaps into the air to hunt down Columbus.
Da Vinci: Mash, can you explain?
Mash: somehow, fantasy can become reality and senpai used that to become a monster to save Quetzalcoatl. And he's currently hunting down Columbus for information.
Da Vinci: ah...
Mash: now I'll go catch up with him!
Mash runs off to follow Rex, seemingly forgetting the authors.
Anderson: well... should we leave them to it?
Murasaki: we really should follow, to help make things go smoothly.
Shakespeare: and I can't miss out on the story this will be.
Anderson: *sigh* ok then
Off with Rex he's found the Santa Maria and immediately rushes to fight the captain, leaping into the air with hand blades to kill the captain.
Rex: COLUMBUS!!!
Columbus: what the-? Is that the master of Chaldea?
Seeing the threat Rex was posing Columbus prepared to unleash his noble phantasm but before he could Rex manages to slice at him, injuring him severely.
Columbus: fuck!
The captain falls over, already too weakened to fight much.
Rex: Where is She?! Where'd you take her!?
Columbus: how'd you get so strong?
Rex: Tell Me!
Columbus: you're not getting any info from me...
Rex: we'll see about that
Rex grabs the captain by the arm and slowly stabs into his side, with the shape-shifted blade burning with divine fire.
Columbus, in pain: Aaahhh!
Rex: tell me what I need to know.
Columbus: aaahh! Fine! She's at the capital building!
Rex drops the fool, satisfied by the info. Finally Mash comes in, having caught up with Rex.
Mash: senpai! Did you find out where Quetzalcoatl is?
Rex: the capital building!
Mash: great!
As they finish Columbus starts to fade, tho now looking more like the one we're all familiar with.
Rex leaps off the boat and joins Mash as the boat fades along with it's master.
Mash: we're likely to run into Don Quixote there
Rex: doesn't matter.
The two leave towards the capital building. Having to fight off inquisition soldiers who got in their way. Eventually they find the capital building, a knight clad in sparkling armor with a strong looking horse stands guard.
Rex: that's him isn't it?
Mash: more then likely
Quixote: ho! You two! What brings you here?
Rex: I'm here to get my wife back!
Quixote: ah! You're the man I was told about! You look far more monstrous then I thought.
Rex: good! Now prepare to die!
Immediately the two clash, Rex's blades against Quixote's spear.
Mash attempts to help but is quickly surrounded by more inquisitors, having to fight them off before helping.
*slash*
Quixote: quite an interesting power you've got there! But you'll fall regardless monster!
Rex: Shut Up! I'll kill you! And then I'll get my wife back!
The two clash even more, Rex also having to fight off soldiers at the same time. Eventually another man comes out of the building.
???: Don! What goes on?
Quixote: the enemy master has come my lord!
Miguel: oh! He's come to save that goddess has he?
Rex: give her back!
Rex says this as he continues to clash with the knight.
Miguel: unfortunately I cannot, my master has requested her capture and I must follow his orders!
Rex: Fuck You!
Quixote: how vulgar!
Then, just as before the snow intensified, blinding the enemies.
Miguel: of all the times for this to ha- urk!
The spanish author feels a sharp pain in his chest, he looks in front of him and beyond the falling snow he sees the pissed off Rex.
Rex: I. Said. Give. Her. Back!
Rex then slices straight up, cutting the author in half.
The snow was still intense and the knight was now clashing with Mash, unaware of his master's death but also unaffected by it.
Rex runs into the capital building, the slimy symbiote receding into him to appear normal still. He then finds Quetzalcoatl inside a box similar to the coffins used for rayshifting.
Rex: mi corazon!
He goes over and busts it open and picks her up out of it.
Rex: are you ok?
She's only semi-conscious and isn't able to say much
Quetz: mi amor...?
Rex: I'm here! You're safe!
Outside Mash continues to fight Quixote, in the clash she manages to break his spear.
Mash: yes!
Now the spear appears far more old and damaged then it did before she damaged it. Quixote looks at it, and seems distraught.
Quixote: it's a lie... isn't it?
Mash: huh?
Quixote: it's all just a story... chivalry... it's all a lie...
Out of nowhere Quixote's armor becomes old and worn, his horse weak and also old. Then the snow stops entirely.
Mash: what happened?
???: you broke his trance.
Mash looks over and sees Shakespeare and the others.
Anderson: with Miguel dead, he was weakened and him seeing his spear I'm it's tru form broke his delusions. Now the fantasies are fading.
Mash: so it's over?
Murasaki: looks like it
Don Quixote then fades away himself. Then Rex is seen coming out of the building carrying Quetz.
Mash: Senpai! Is she ok?!
Rex: she'll be fine. Just need to get back.
Da Vinci: so you saved her? That's great to hear! Now let's get you two back before the singularity fades.
Rex: but who the hell was their master?
Da Vinci: not here, so we'll handle it when we get there.
Rayshifting in 3...2...1!
A/N: there's the story I've been planning for a bit. There's going to be a small epilog soon enough but for now there's that.

I know you're not feeling too good and already have a lot of messages, so do not feel pressured to answer this right away!!!! (or at all if you want to stay away from discourse!)
All the so called "proof" that Eddie & Ana are doomed are purely headcannons made to villianize her. Like, she doesn't like Buck? Who was keeping Buck updated on Eddie throughout 4×14? Who did she call after he woke up? Buck. I've already touched on the Christopher not liking Ana one, so I'll skip that one. Ana is overbearing & insertive? If anything, she seems a bit shy. Eddie's the one that called her for a date and she stood back and let him & Christopher reunite with Carla. She's also the one that suggested a break! She's not sticking around long so the writers don't give a shit about her (& her relationship with Eddie)? Nah, thats just bc they're both poc. I love them, but just look at how much bucktaylor we got in s4 (it's bc they're both white). Eddie doesn't trust her with Christopher?? Eddie doesn't really like her bc he didn't put her in his will like Buck (who he's worked with for FOUR YEARS & saved Chris during the tsunami) & bc Buck is the one that drove him home from the hospital??? Eddie doesn't like to be called 'Edmundo' so she's a bad person for still calling him that? Uh no, go back and watch 2×01, he says he doesn't like to be called 'DIAZ'.
Ooh, that got long, sorry. It's just I've been seeing tons of Ana hate lately (mixed in with the Eddie bashing, ugh).
—💜
oh thank you for that, dear! getting your message actually just gave me the push to open my inbox finally 😂💛
lmaao omg duuude literally all of this message is exactly what i’ve been thinking this whole time, honestly?! like it just reminds me of this morning when i was reading buddie fics, i found one that had an interesting summary but in the tags the author wrote something like they hated ana, they’re anti-ana, she’s basically the devil etc and i gave it a shot anyway, thinking MAYBE they would just exclude her from the fic if they hated her so much but.. nope. and they went so far out of their way to villainize her in their story that it was sooo out of character like literally everything they wrote her doing was like.. some evil bitch that hates christopher and hates buck and straight up wrote her in asking who buck even was like lskdjflsdlskd are you guys kidding me? if you don’t like her that’s fine, whatever, but just don’t go out of  your way and write her in the stories to bash on her and quit acting like she’s really this person who she is legitimately not? this behavior is sadly the reason the actress gets so much hate, too, and it just... ugh. it pisses me off so much!!
so like basically idgi with fandom - they want the two guys to be canon but pointedly hate on the poc woman that’s “in the way of the ship” who also doesn’t get nearly as much screen time (??) and turn everything she does into something it’s absolutely 100% not but they’ll ignore taylor (the white woman that’s “in the way” and also gets a looot more screen time) and just act like she doesn’t exist if it suits them.. idgi. it makes me so angry but also simultaneously makes me love ana more bc she definitely deserves the positive attention!

Yuletide 2020 Letter
Dear potential writer,
I truly hope all is well with you and yours. No matter what state you find yourself in, my wish is that Yuletide boosts your spirits and gives you the extra jolt we all could use to usher in the new year.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and thank you in advance if you decide to write anything for me!
Below are my desired fandoms and pairings along with story ideas that I would love to see written. Please don’t feel stifled by my prompts; I’ve also listed my general likes and dislikes at the very bottom of this letter if you decide to go a different route.
Little Women (2019):
Characters: Amy March and Theodore “Laurie” Laurence”
The main reason I adore this adaptation is because it made me see why Amy and Laurie ended up together. They had very similar worldviews and fit so well what the other needed. Both deserved to be with someone that valued them for who they are. With Laurie, Amy was not just financially secure but with someone who encouraged her to express herself creatively, politically, or however she chose. With Amy, while she grounded Laurie in reality and challenged him to be the best version of himself, he didn't have to fundamentally change to make her happy.
Story ideas:
These quotes really show how Amy's perspective on life was different than her sister's: "You are your family's hope." (Aunt March) "I’ve always known I would marry rich." (Amy March) That's a lot of pressure on someone so young. We heard some of Laurie's thoughts, mostly that he didn't think Amy should feel ashamed for wanting that. How would some of that pressure continue even after she got married, and what would Laurie say to make her realize they were in life together as a team and she didn’t have to suffer the weight of the world alone?
The conversation between Amy and Laurie in the painting studio showed just how level-headed and intelligent she was. Laurie, while not wholly agreeing, was respectful and didn't discount her thoughts. It would be interesting to see the impact on their story if Vaughn hadn't arrived, and this had played out more. Would the proposal have happened earlier and/or how would later scenes be altered as a result of further conversation?
What did the other characters think of Amy and Laurie's relationship, and how did it change after seeing them interact more as a couple? It would be interesting to read about Meg, Marmee, John, or some of the other characters realizing they were genuinely a good match for each other.
Post-canon, I'd love to get a glimpse of what kinds of conversations they had. Did Amy encourage Laurie to pursue a career and find what he was passionate about (music perhaps as Laurie mentioned writing an opera)? And similarly, did Laurie encourage Amy to pursue her art? Did they continue to have in-depth conversations about societal pressures and expectations of gender in certain economic classes?
Tenet:
Characters: The Protagonist, Kat, and Neil
Tenet is the first movie I've seen in theaters since Star Wars IX. There have been some mixed reviews, but my love for Christopher Nolan sci-fi films combined with the experience of stepping foot in a theater again made it a wonderful experience for me. Sure, the plot could be confusing at times, but it was fun trying to fit certain puzzle pieces together and oh so thrilling when things just clicked into place in the most satisfying ways.
I adored the dynamic between Neil and the Protagonist. The easy friendship, the banter, the suits... everything. I also loved the relationship between the Protagonist and Kat. It started off as each using the other but transformed into one of genuine care on both sides. Ever the romantic, I definitely saw something more than just friendship between the two and was slightly disappointed the movie didn't explore that aspect more.
For pairings, I’m interested in friendships between all of the characters. I’d be interested in seeing a romantic relationship between Kat and the Protagonist if you’re up for that, but not between Neil and Kat, nor Neil and the Protagonist. If you really want to give a romantic partner to Neil, I'd be fine with Laura (or an original female character if she’s not the focus of the story), but please, no slash. While I’d be ecstatic to see all three characters together, if you can only find a way to fit in two, that’s wonderful as well!
Story ideas:
Even though Andrei Sator is gone, there are still other players in the game, some like Priya, who want to eliminate Kat or even abduct her with the delusional idea she can continue her husband's work. The Protagonist (and Neil, if you so choose) ensures no harm comes to her, and he realizes that keeping her at a distance may not have been the best idea.
I personally don't buy into the fan theory that Neil is Kat's son Max; however, I do find the idea intriguing and would be up for reading about how that worked. The Protagonist breaks his rule and sees Kat, helping to raise her son Max/Neil and eventually teaching him about inversion.
The Protagonist doesn't have to wait quite as long as he'd thought to see Neil again. It can be the Neil who had already met him and knows about Tenet or the Neil who knows nothing about inversion.
What conversations did Neil and Kat have while the Protagonist was asleep after almost freezing to death? Maybe Neil explained the finer workings of Tenet and inversion more in-depth. Perhaps they discussed the Protagonist.
Clueless:
Characters: Cher Horowitz and Josh Lucas
This movie set the bar high for teen romantic comedies. How can anyone ever beat 90s Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd? Plus, the relationship between their two characters is fantastic. Josh and Cher just bring out the best in each other. Cher shows Josh that he doesn't need to be so serious all of the time and that people are more than their outer appearances. Josh makes Cher want to be a better person, and he believes that she's not just a pretty face. Their banter and playful moments always make me smile.
Story ideas:
Knowing Josh and Cher end up together, this brings a heightened awareness to rewatches. They have so many casual touches and exchanged glances (when did Paul Rudd's eyes get so blue?) that it's hard to miss their natural chemistry. It may take quite some time for Cher's dad to notice anything has changed because they don't act all that different from before. Is there something that makes him finally take notice? How does he react?
Sort of related to the last prompt, there's a moment where Josh decides to go to the dance to keep an eye on Cher and Christian, and you can tell by Mel Horowitz’s smirk he realizes Josh has a crush on Cher. Does he do anything to push it along or play matchmaker just like his daughter?
I've always been curious about whether or not Josh believes Cher's story about being assaulted in the car by Elton and then held at gunpoint. We skip over Josh pulling up to the phone booth and go straight to Cher already being in the car. How did Josh react when she reiterated the story, and does he instantly believe her, or does it take some convincing? I'd like to see if he comforts her and if they both go together to tell Cher's dad what happened.
Cher is obviously very intelligent socially, if not always so much academically. When it comes time to apply for college, what does she major in? And how is Josh a positive influence in Cher's life, encouraging her to be ambitious and not letting negative comments from guidance counselors or teachers dissuade her?
Things I don’t like:
Alternate Universes – For the specific fandoms that I picked, I really like the universes as they are. I’m definitely okay with deviations from canon, but please don’t make Little Women into a supernatural werewolf story or have Tenet take place in a mundane coffee shop setting. (I don’t mind Soulmate AUs or something similar because those can be incorporated into canon with little change to worldbuilding).
Non-Con/Rape/BDSM/Sexual Violence/Graphic Sex – I like my characters to be happy and everything within ships to be 100% consensual, no question about it (mentions of non-con if it occurred in canon is fine). I also prefer plot over porn, especially with one-shots.
OT3s – Two people per romantic relationship, please. Any more than that makes me uncomfortable.
Character Bashing - Unless a character is a bad guy in canon, I don’t want to read hundreds of words about how awful they are, especially if they are one of the characters that I requested. Don’t take it out on the characters. If you hate my pairings, just write gen.
Things I love:
Hurt/Comfort – There is nothing I love more than one character comforting another. The hurt can be physical, psychological, or both.
Happy Endings – I’m all for the realistic endings… but if they could be plausible AND at least happy-ish, that would be amazing.
Expanded Scenes/Contorting Canon – Feel free to expand scenes and change up the canon to your heart’s content as long as it makes logical sense.
Humor/Banter/Snark – I thrive on this stuff.
Bonding/Building Relationships – Whether it be a friendship or a romantic relationship, I adore reading about two people growing closer together. When characters know each other so well that they can have conversations with just their eyes or anticipate the person’s next move (especially if it’s to the surprise/confusion of everyone around them), my shipper heart is thrilled.
Dark to Light – Seeing a character come out of a bad mindset or situation and get better is so satisfying.
Happy writing and I hope you get the Yuletide gift of your dreams!

Top 20 Best Movies of the Decade (2010′s)
Now that we have entered the 2020s, it’s time to look back on a decade of movie magic. To emphasise the importance of each year, I’ll balance things out by including two films from each year for my Top 20 list. I’ve tried to pick films that both defined this decade as well as appealed to me personally, so my list will of course, as always, be different from yours, but hopefully, I won’t totally irritate you with my humble choice, which I deem worthy to post online for the public eye to witness.
2010:
INCEPTION - “You’re waiting for a train...” Christopher Nolan unarguably is the most exciting and original directors working today. Each time he releases a movie, its an event. A literal must-see at the cinema. Which is why this isn’t the only film of his you will find on this list. With Inception, Nolan gives us a movie that is both enjoyable and imaginative, rewarding the audience for the attention that it demands. Filled with so much detail that if you miss certain shots, you will completely get lost in confusion of the narrative (as confusing as it already is). It’s intense and complex, with great performances from the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy, this movie will leave you lingering for more even after that mysterious ending.
Tumblr media
SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD -  “You cocky cock! You'll pay for your crimes against humanity!” Once again, another exciting director on this list (oh there are so so many!). Ever since Edgar Wright emerged from the British isles, he’s given us some of the funniest films of the past decade and onwards. His Cornetto Trilogy is a blast, Baby Driver is a blast, Ant-Man was going to be even more of a blast if Marvel allowed Wright to do his magical shenanigans his way, and the upcoming Last Night in Soho will surely be a blast also. With Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Wright creates a meta-clever universe taking inspiration from comic books and video games and filled to the brink with wink-wink-nudge-nudge humour, this is an exciting and very sarcastic over the top endeavor. Also, Brie Larson in this movie.....phew!! And unsurprisingly, its all a blast!
Tumblr media
2011:
DRIVE - “I just wanted you to know, just getting to be around you, that was the best thing that ever happened to me.” Drive is more of an elegant exercise in style, and its emotions may be hidden but they run deep. A shamelessly disreputable, stylish, stoic, ultra-violent thriller with amazing stunt work, one of the best opening sequences of any movie this decade and a neon-pumped soundtrack that’s a must-own for all vinyl users, if you still haven’t seen Drive, there’s only one thing you can do. Clue: it’s to go watch Drive.
Tumblr media
MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL - “Your mission, should you choose to accept it...” Tom Cruise’s deal with the devil allows him to do some literally impossible stuff, and though I don’t condone his Scientology ways, the man’s stunt work and efforts in his area of expertise are worth all the praise and respect. To be honest, I’m commemorating all three of the Mission Impossible flicks that graced our screen this year (Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation and Fallout). This franchise is like a game of dodgeball, except that Tom Cruise is the dodgeBALL, being thrown and thrust left and right like nobody cares. Also, with me being Russian, the fact that a movie manages to destroy the Kremlin and then have me not hate the film in the aftermath shows that this film is way too fun to hate.
Tumblr media
2012:
DJANGO UNCHAINED - “Gentlemen, you had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.” Quentin Tarantino is one of my favourite directors working today. And Django Unchained happens to be my favourite film of his. The writing for this film is orgasmic (I went there!). The way the actors deliver the lines and the lines of dialogue themselves sound almost poetic to my ears. I can quote so many lines from this darn thing. The cinematography is immaculate. The soundtrack choice is great. The performances, my goodness, the PERFORMANCES!! Jamie Foxx does arguably his career-best work here, but also we have Christoph Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio both chewing up the scenery, and I’m sure everyone has heard the story involving DiCaprio and the broken glass. Django Unchained is an easy choice on this list for me, and possibly in my Top 10 of all time.
Tumblr media
LES MISERABLES - “Do you hear the people sing?” The film that is based on a musical that is based on a book that is based on certain true events. Tom Hooper did an interesting choice of having actors sing live in front of the camera during filming rather than pre-record their voices, and it works to grand effect, though Russell Crowe should have probably been given more singing lessons. The movie is one hell of a way to adapt such a popular stage musical. With an opening shot that emphasises the scale of this picture with a zoom-in towards this big ship during a storm being pulled by these poor prisoners, we are plunged into the despair and conflicts of various characters with adroit narrative thrust so that not a moment feels wasted or redundant. You’d think that a film with hardly any dialogue and an overall reliance on singing wouldn’t be so emotional. Yet, somehow, it works. Also props to Anne Hathaway for winning an Academy Award for being in a film for only 5 MINUTES!!
Tumblr media
2013:
THE WOLF OF WALL STREET - “Sell me this pen.” Martin Scorsese’s mad look into Wall Street life is a bombastic caper and running at nearly 3 hours, Scorsese and his editing team manage to keep an astoundingly intoxicating pace that keeps you enthralled and engaged throughout. This one is definitely not for the families, as this R-rated fest is filled with drugs, money, sex and everything you can possibly imagine and paints quite the picture of the rich folks of Wall Street. And the middle of it all a bravura performance from Leonardo DiCaprio. Someone needs to give DiCaprio’s agent a raise, this is Leo’s third appearance on this list and we’re only in 2013!
Tumblr media
THE WAY WAY BACK - “I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask you to leave. You're having way too much fun, it's making everyone uncomfortable.” Sometimes a little indie flick is enough to lift a human spirit. Real, fun, uplifting and innocent, The Way Way Back dedicated to anyone who felt awkward or out of place at some point in their life, which, let’s be honest, counts all of us. I’m not afraid to admit that. So stop being a b*** and reveal your sensitive side too! Yes, you, the person reading this. Who else could I possibly be talking to? Myself? Maybe. The Way Way Back though is one of the best feel-good indie films of this decade, with the loveable Steve Carell acting very unloveable and Sam Rockwell Rockwelling himself to charm city! If you’ve missed this one, treat yo’self and check it out.
Tumblr media
2014:
THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL - “And?? Where is it? What's it all about dammit don't keep us in suspense this has been a complete f***ing nightmare! Just tell us what the f*** is going on!!!” Easily Wes Anderson’s best in my opinion (I have a friend who would argue Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums has the better hand but I think my opinion is more valid because it's me), this movie is a glossy, colorful, whimsical deadpan affair with an energetic turn from Ralph Fiennes as the hotel concierge M. Gustave H. as he and his lobby boy run into various Wes Anderson regulars and deal with murderers, stolen paintings, love affairs, prison breaks, and all kinds of crazy shindigs, but all shown in such a casual Wes Anderson way. This movie is like a slice of cherry pie - damn fine!
Tumblr media
INTERSTELLAR - “Murphy’s Law doesn’t mean that something bad will happen. It means that whatever can happen, will happen.” As promised, Christopher Nolan makes another appearance on this list, now with his space time-traveling epic Interstellar, where he takes inspiration from the likes of Kubrick and Tarkovsky to give us, as always, a tad bit confusing adventure with great visuals and an interesting narrative (though it does sometimes get lost in its own way), however, the key thing holding this piece together is the father-daughter relationship with Matthew McConaughey and Mackenzie Foy (and Jessica Chastain) managing to bring so much raw emotion to their respective roles that you can’t help but want to shed a tear. I mean, I haven’t cried for over 14 years, but I remember when I first watched this film, the audience around me was sobbing quite a few times during the duration of this movie. Give it to Nolan to give us the emotional moments!
Tumblr media
2015:
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD - “Oh what a day! What a lovely day!!” Easily the best action movie of this decade. Sorry John Wick, neither you or Tom Cruise could defeat this beast. The sheer, limitless invention behind this movie's exhilarating, preposterous chase scenes highlights action filmmaking at its finest. With big monster trucks and a random guitarist rocking-it in the middle of all the action, it’s like a nihilistic version of a Cirque du Soleil show! And it makes Tom Hardy the calmest person on-screen; no idea how it managed that.
Tumblr media
STEVE JOBS - “I sat in a garage and invented the future because artists lead and hacks ask for show of hands.” If there is anyone who can make formulaic, mathematical or technological sound fun and exciting, its Aaron Sorkin. The man has a talent for writing screenplays about difficult and complicated topics yet turning them approachable for the casual moviegoer. Pair him with director Danny Boyle, and the result is Steve Jobs, a look at the man behind the phone. Narratively set during three important product launches of Jobs’, we get to see the behind-the-scenes of his relationships with his colleagues and family members, and this character study is one that could have easily fallen into generic biopic tropes, but it holds it’s own right till the credits roll. Also props for showing that Seth Rogen can actually do a serious role. Who would’ve thought that pot-smoking fella had dramatic chops in him?
Tumblr media
2016:
NOCTURNAL ANIMALS - “Susan, enjoy the absurdity of our world. It’s a lot less painful. Believe me, our world is a lot less painful than the real world.” Fashion designer Tom Ford does sew his suits well. Apparently, he can also make great films too, with 2009′s A Single Man and with said Nocturnal Animals. This movie is truly incredible and I remember it taking me and my friend by surprise when we first watched it at the cinema. It’s shocking. Horrifying. Depressing. Upsetting. Altogether exhilarating. Being of a fashion background, Tom Ford directs the hell out of this movie, with gorgeous shots and great use of colour as well as managing to masterfully create tension and suspense when necessary. Honestly, I know Tom Ford is probably busy at a department store somewhere, but the guy needs to make another movie. The man has a talent.
Tumblr media
LA LA LAND - “Here’s to the ones who dream, foolish as they may seem. Here’s to the hearts that ache; here’s to the mess we make.” Oh, La La Land. Damien Chazelle’s follow-up to the also excellent Whiplash. People who know me well know how much I love this movie. An old-school tour-de-force musical that’s a love letter to jazz and the golden age of Hollywood. The city of stars never looked so good. Featuring catchy original songs, excellent dance choreography (the sequence to the song “Lovely Night” is especially memorable) and a romance tale ten times better than the forsaken The Notebook, La La Land is one special movie. I know many are put off by the film’s not so happy ending, however for me it was the only way this narrative could have ended.
Tumblr media
2017:
BLADE RUNNER 2049 - “We’re all just looking out for something real.” Similarly to Nolan, Denis Villeneuve is proving to be one of the most exciting directors working today. He’s the man behind such films as *deep breath* Prisoners, Enemy, Sicario, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049. And those have all been done within the last decade. The man constantly makes quality movies of various genres, though lately, he has been leaning more towards science fiction, which is a-okay in my books, since as Blade Runner 2049 proves, he can turn science into fiction like butter on bread. A sequel made 30 years after Ridley Scott’s classic, this visually breathtaking piece is arguably even better than its predecessor with many moments giving you the “wow wow wow wow wow WOW!” factor, and when Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford are both on-screen they are dynamite. Forget the new Star Wars film (that’s right, I'm throwing shade there), Blade Runner is where it’s at!
Tumblr media
PHANTOM THREAD - “The tea is going out. The interruption is staying right here with me.” The supposed last Daniel Day-Lewis film, as he has now apparently retired from acting, but let’s be honest, nothing stops him from simply unretiring at any point. Exhibit A - Joe Pesci. However, like Pesci, if he comes back I’ll only be happy. He’s one of acting greats of our time, and his collaborations will director Paul Thomas Anderson bring out some of his best roles. Phantom Thread is a marvel of a movie. No, I don’t mean that’s its part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I mean as in it can fill one with wonder and astonishment. Phantom Thread is PTA’s Gothic dark fairy-tale romance film, which expertly planned shots and scenes where every word of the dialogue counts. There is no wasted moment. And as the film transpires to its dark and unsettling climax, one begins to realize that this, THIS, is what filmmaking is about. Telling an engrossing story in an interesting way with crisp-clear shots and off-the-chart acting at play, with great costume design on display, although the latter is unsurprising due to a major aspect of the movie revolving around fashion.
Tumblr media
2018:
MANDY -  “You ripped ma shirt!! You ripped maaa shiirrt!!” An acquired taste for sure, however, Mandy is indeed something truly special. From first glance, this film might seem like nothing out of the ordinary, especially from the point of view of the plot. Its the usual revenge flick. However director Panos Cosmatos’ vision and how he presents it is so much more unique. And what’s not love in this film? There’s something for everyone! It’s artsy and slow enough for the critics, hip and metal for the nonchalant, gory and violent for the hardcore genre fanatics and of course the Nic-Cage-rage factor is present for the fans of the actor. Alright, it may not be a family film, but this one is worth a watch. The whole thing is bound together by this psychedelic otherworldly environment, with the whole movie conceived in this dark, unsettlingly beautiful yet horror-filled aura that might stray people away, as it might be just too different for them, however, if you are looking for something different to watch, take mandy. I mean, watch Mandy!
Tumblr media
A STAR IS BORN - “Music is essentially 12 notes between any octave. Twelve notes and the octave repeats. It’s the same story told over and over. All the artist can offer the world is how they see those 12 notes.” The film that began all the rumours surrounding Bradley Cooper’s and Lady Gaga’s affair. People, heads up, they are actors! They were putting on a performance! Jeez. That being said, I totally ship them. Nuff’ said. The film though? Yes, it’s good. Some country-style music, romance blooming, Gaga can apparently act, people sing about shallows for some reason...all together works for a pretty decent motion picture. Also, the fact that Bradley Cooper wrote, directed, produced and starred in this gives me so much respect for the guy. He poured his heart and soul into this. And Lady Gaga absolutely shines!
Tumblr media
2019:
PAIN & GLORY -  “Writing is like drawing but with letters.” Director Pedro Almodovar semi-autobiographical film takes a close look at how one deals with acceptance, being forgotten, symptoms of depression and generally all fairly negative attributes, but delivered in such an honest and profound way that there is a strange lightness that emerges from it all. Antonio Banderas is uncannily vulnerable in the lead role, delivering such an earnest performance that shows a man that is filled with melancholic regret who seeks his own form of redemption. This movie is a thing of beauty.
Tumblr media
PARASITE - “You know what kind of plan never fails? No plan at all. If you make a plan, life never works out that way.” Parasite is easily the most original and surprising films of 2019, and possibly the decade, managing to subvert expectations and blend together so many different genres so naturally. To spoil any narrative element of this movie would be a sin, like this one in particular works best when not knowing anything about it. This movie comes to us from Bong Joon-Ho, a South Korean director behind such films as The Host, Memories of Murder, Okja, and Snowpiercer. It’s nice to see the awards ceremonies giving him the proper recognition finally. He deserves it.
Tumblr media
That sums up my Top 20 Best Movies of the Decade list. Of course, there are so many other great films that came out in these 10 years, such as Whiplash, When Marnie Was There, Paterson, Silence, Kubo and the Two Strings, The Nice Guys...I can go on forever. Cinema is a constant ever-growing medium, and it is fascinating to see how it changes through the years, in some ways improving and in some parts not so much. In any case, I look forward towards a new decade of, hopefully, great movies, however, let’s be honest, for all these great films there’s always a Norm of the North, a Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse or frickin’ Cats. But let’s hope those will be kept to a minimum. In any case, bring on the 2020s!

Ok I haven't read LACE and I have to ask - what does it say about half-cousin relationships?
[re: something I mentioned at the end of this post in the context of -- what else? -- Russingon]
I first came across this technicality in this essay about elf sex. That author draws this conclusion:
Notes in Morgoth’s Ring imply that, if you were first cousins but your uncle was your father’s half-brother, this abrogated the incest taboo enough that marriage was an option.
For awhile I took that as canon, but recently I went digging into Morgoth’s Ring to see what it had to say for itself, and if that implication was actually true. So here’s what LaCE really has to say about cousin marriages:
Tumblr media
The relevant part, transcribed, reads as follows [emphasis mine]:
For the marriages of the Eldar do not take place between ‘close kin’. This again is a matter in which they needed no law or instruction, but acted by nature, though they gave reasons for it later, declaring that it was due to the nature of bodies and the processes of generation; but also to the nature of fëar. ‘For,’ they said, ‘fëar are also akin, and the motions of love between them, as say between a brother and sister, are not of the same kind as those that make the beginning of marriage.’ By ‘close kin’ for this purpose was meant members of one ‘house’, especially sisters and brothers. None of the Eldar married those in direct line of descent, nor children of the same parents, nor the sister or brother of either of their parents; nor did they wed ‘half-sisters’ or ‘half-brother’. Since as has been shown only in the rarest events did the Eldar have second spouses, half-sisteror half-brother had for them a special meaning: they used these terms when both of the parents of one child were related to both of the parents of another, as when two brothers married two sisters of another family, or a sister and a brother of one house married a brother and sister of another: things which often occurred. Otherwise ‘first cousins’, as we should say, might marry, but seldom did so, or desired to do so, unless one of the parents each were far-sundered in kin.
SO this is from Draft A of LACE, and is an in-canon note on the in-canon text (i.e., not a note made by JRRT or Chrissy T, but by some loremaster who was most likely not even an elf). It’s at the very beginning of where Draft A diverges from Draft B, which means Tolkien revised everything that came before BUT did not revise this bit. So: take it with a grain of salt, and of course feel free to disregard it entirely!
It’s really interesting to me here is that since Finwë is pretty much the only elf of note to marry twice, their concept of half-siblings is very different from ours, and that kind of cousin incest is definitely a no-go. But this quote isn’t really about siblings with different mothers; it’s about cousins.
BUT first cousins “might marry” if they’re not considered half-siblings! This doesn’t usually happen, but it’s possible - it might be the kind of thing done primarily for political reasons (like uniting the lines of Indis and Míriel, perhaps?)
The qualification of “unless one of the parents each were far-sundered in kin” is curious also. Would this count for Nerdanel and Anairë’s children if they were both Noldor? (We don’t know anything about Anairë’s origins; I’ve seen fics where she’s a Vanya, though personally I see her as a Noldo.) What if Anairë was a Noldorin noble, but Nerdanel was a common smith? -- they would both be of the same “people” but from different ranks and probably not related to each other. Would Fingon and Maedhros therefore be “far-sundered in kin”? Does the fact that they’re part of that weird exception where even their fathers aren’t wholly related play into it?
With this technicality, I think a case could be made for the Nolofinwëans and Arafinwëans being able to marry, should they wish: even though they are first cousins (and their fathers are full brothers), Eärwen is a Teler and Anairë probably isn’t. That would be “far-sundered,” right?
And if that’s true... then Maeglin and Idril being first cousins wouldn’t really matter, either. Maeglin is half Noldo & Vanya from Aredhel’s side of the family and half either Sinda or Avar from Eöl’s side of the family, depending on your headcanons. The Sindar are definitely “far-sundered” from the Noldor and the Vanyar (they’re sundered from the Falmari, too, just not as far), and if you see Eöl as Avarin, that’s even further.
But in the published Silm, there’s this quote [emphasis mine]:
The Eldar wedded not with kin so near, nor ever before had any desired to do so. And however that might be, Idril loved Maeglin not at all; and knowing his thought of her she loved him the less.
Here this “far-sundered in kin” rule doesn’t apply. By any definition, even if Turgon and Aredhel are siblings, their respective spouses (Elenwë of the Vanyar and Eöl the Dark Elf, whatever you take that to mean) are about as far-sundered as you can get, and still the connection between Turgon and Aredhel is too much.
Maybe this is something Tolkien changed his mind on between writing LaCE and writing this section of what became the published Silm. Or maybe this is an in-universe distinction: the in-universe writer of LaCE is unclear but implied to be a human, not an elf, possible Aelfwine; the writer of the Silm as we see it is Christopher Tolkien’s edits of JRRT’s translation of Bilbo’s translation of Noldorin loremasters, the chief of whom was Pengolodh. It’s complicated.
So it seems that this note may suffer from being part of Draft A of LaCE, i.e. an unrevised section of an esoteric in-universe text that Tolkien probably never really thought would see the light of day. (Plus, he probably didn’t think a bunch of shippers in the year of our lord 2020 would be pouring over his notes this intensely to justify our gay cousin ship.)
Really this asks more questions than it answers. Without any examples for us to fall back on, what does “far-sundered in kin” really mean? Why would Maeglin and Idril not fit into that category? Would Fingon and Maedhros fit into it on account of their mothers, even if both their mothers were Noldor? How does their fathers being half-siblings impact it? Does the fact that Míriel was a Noldo and Indis a Vanya make a difference? And I honestly have no idea what Tolkien thought of same-gender relationships; that’s a whole different topic.
So what does LaCE say about half-cousin relationships? Nothing, really. And what it does say is contradicted elsewhere, and unclear on who in-universe wrote it, and when it comes down to it these are laws and customs not universal truths about elvish biology -- something which I think we as a fandom tend to forget. Mannish prejudices inevitably bleed into our tales of the elves, and really there is no one right way to see this.
This meta is already way longer than I anticipated (and it comes as a fitting sequel to the LaCE meta I wrote last year around this time) so I’m going to end here - but the TL;DR version of it is “LaCE implies that cousins can get married if the non-sibling parents aren’t closely related” and complicating that with the half-cousins situation means that Russingon was probably fine re: the incest taboo - if you take LaCE as canon.
For myself: this does make me feel better about shipping Maedhros and Fingon (and also about shipping Finrod and Turgon!), but even if this technicality didn’t exist I would still encourage everyone to ship what you wanna ship and be nice to each other!

Lost and Found Soulmates
@braidedchallah @alexanderdamnhethin @rthoney @creedtheconquer @andpeggy21 @theconfusedleo @friedrich-the-gay @haha-gunsgoburrr @hamiltimes
Fandom: Hamilton? in a way? otherwise...Music?
Pairing: Daveed/OC
Words: 9598
I groaned and dropped onto the couch in sitting room of the dorm apartment I shared with a few of my friends.
“Girl! Just go! I will loan you the 20$!” Logan said sitting down by me.
I shook my head.
“I’m barely going to be able to cover next semester’s tuition. I couldn’t pay you back, Lo'. It was sweet of you to offer but I think I’ll just have to let this one slide by.” I said looking over to her.
She grabbed my shoulders and I looked up seeing Roxanne and Arianna behind her looking at me the same way she was. Logan shook my shoulders.
“Girl! You have talent, you know all the songs and choreography already! You can do this!” She said determination in her eyes.
I shook my head and stood up carefully.
“No, Lo' that’s final.” I said before walking into my room and locking the door.
I laid down and fell asleep quickly. But found myself woke up way to early in the morning the next day.
“Roxie, Ari I said no.” I grumbled as they forcefully dressed me and brushed my hair.
Yeah, they did this often. Usually when I was late to class. We all kind of took care of each other it’s why we decided to all room together.
“And we said yes. Now go have a good audition.” Ari said patting my head.
Roxie gave me a shove and Lo' pressed a 20$ into my hands, I groaned again and stomped off out of the dorm with them all cheering after me. I slid into my car and started it, putting the Hamilton soundtrack on in the car, I started the long drive.
“Might as well get some practice in.” I muttered just as the first song started.
I sang along as I drove and it felt like no time had really passed since I started before, I was pulling up outside the theater. I sighed softly and climbed from my car closing and shutting the door, I leaned on the car so I was looking over the roof.
“Come on, you can do this! It’s not like this is the first musical you’ve auditioned for! Yeah, but it’s also not the first Lin Manuel Miranda musical I’ve auditioned for and I’ll surprised if I get this one.” I sighed and shoved off my car, tucking my keys into my pocket. I paused for a second looking at the thin red string attached to my finger before stuffing my hand in my pocket.
'Not today.’ I sighed walking into the theater.
There were only a few there and some of them I recognized from the last time I had auditioned for a musical. I put a smile on my face and walked up to the sign in table. Quickly writing my name and grabbing one of the provided lyric packets I moved to lean against a wall. I always felt better when I was standing, at least, when it came to pre-audition jitters.
“Alright we’ll start calling them in, in five minutes and you just come in when you get here. No Daveed it’s no problem, traffic happens! It’s New York, really, I’m not surprised. Alright, I’ll see you in a few, bye!” I looked up at the familiar voice and smiled softly.
All the others here for the interview gasped and crowded around him the best they could I just stood back as he looked around smiling at everyone. I waved from the wall and his eyes went wide.
“Kaley! I didn’t expect to see you!” he said stepping over to me.
He gave me a small hug and stepped back hands still on my shoulders.
“Lin, how are you? You wouldn’t have if it wasn’t for my roommates.” I said smiling softly at the excitable man in front of me.
Lin wrapped his arm around my shoulder and walked towards a door with me.
“Oh, I’m alright. So why did they have to shove you out now?” He asked smiling.
I laughed and nodded.
“Oh, you know how I am at this point. Broke with no confidence! They literally dragged me out of bed this time, I didn’t even get coffee and I was to worried about being late to stop for some.” I said laughing as we paused outside of the door.
Lin nodded and turned the knob after letting go of me.
“Well just breath, you’ll be fine. I would have hired you last time, but circumstances.” Lin said apologetically
I laughed again and shook my head.
“No, it’s totally fine. I get it, I just hope I’m better than last time. I could really use the boost and the reassurance I’m on the right path.” I said softly towards the end.
Lin smiled and hugged me again.
“You’ll do amazing, I know you will! Oooh I’m getting that look, I have to go. I’ll see you out there.” He said before hurrying though the door.
I laughed and waved as the closed. I turned back to the room and saw the glares, I slowly put my hands up.
“He gets to know people who have auditioned for multiple of the shows he’s involved with. Chill.” I said muttering the last bit to myself.
I walked back over to the wall and leaned against it, flipping through the packet. This was a different style audition and the style was partly why I had decided not to come. Lin was choosing the songs we auditioned with. And due to an audition years ago, he knew I could rap.
‘Knowing my luck? I’m going to get Guns and Ships because he knows I know the words for it.’ I thought leaning back and closing my eyes.
Lin and I had met at an audition about 6 years ago, and we had instantly hit it off. Both of us kept checking the string just to make sure, that’s how close we were. But we ended up trading phone numbers and being good friends. I was one of the first he sent the demo for Hamilton, he had already called and raved to me about his idea. Which although it worried me that it wouldn’t be a hit, I was fully behind him, even more so after hearing the demos. The reason he was so surprised to see me? He had offered me a roll back when Hamilton was in its 'please take a ticket, come see our show!’ stage, I had been too busy with school to properly honor the commitment. I had also told him that I would want a fair audition, not to just be given the role because we were friends. I sighed as people started getting called back.
‘I hope the others do good. Even though I’m sure they hope I do badly. I’m getting coffee after this no matter what.’ I thought as I read through the packet again.
A few minutes later I heard my name and shoved off the wall, walking onto the stage I stopped and took the mic they handed me, handing them my packet. I walked to the front of the stage and leaned down a bit, glad my friends had picked a regular button up instead of something low cut.
“Kaley, firstly, good luck. Secondly your song, I’ve selected Guns and Ships for you.” Lin said a smile on his face.
The others at the table looked at him like he was insane. I smiled and turned to the stage pausing, and spinning back.
“I need the table.” I said my hands on my hips.
Lin sat back and laughed waving crew members in from the wings.
“I told you that would be her only comment!” Lin said laughing.
The others were still looking at him like he was crazy, even as I stepped up onto the table and nodded to Lin. The music started and I closed my eyes letting the intro wash over me. Without a second’s hesitation I jumped right into the song, singing and rapping it the best I could, my eyes snapping open as I jumped from the table, landing and bouncing around the stage a bit. A crew member, who wasn’t Christopher Jackson came out and did Washington’s part. I had just turned towards were the audience using my hands to my advantage.
“Sir, he knows what to do in a trench, ingenuitive and fluent in French, I mean!” I said bobbing to the music.
“Hamilton!” the Washington stand in said.
“Sir, you’re going to have to use him eventually what is he going to do on the bench? I mean!” I said bobbing.
“Hamilton!” came the call.
“No one has more resilience or matches my practical tactical brilliance!” I shouted.
“Hamilton!” was called.
“You wanna fight for your land back?” I called as I moved around the stage.
“I gotta get my right-hand man back!” the Washington stand in said sitting at the table so I could dance around him.
I went through the next few lines, really feeling myself. I grabbed the fake letter and just as I turned to run over to the stairs on the side of the stage, I heard the door open and glanced up, Daveed had just entered. I kept in motion, my legs knowing this part by muscle memory. I had just turned to hand the letter off when my string caught my eye. I swallowed as I realized, it was connected, and who it was connected to. The feeling hit me in a second and I stumbled hitting my knees, letting my head drop. Letting the wave of dizziness run over me.
“Alright that’s enough!” Lin called and I heard him jump onto the stage.
He kneeled beside me and placed a hand on my back.
“Kaley, what happened? You were killing it!” he asked softly, having already turned off both of our mics.
I just shook my head and looked over at him, not seeing Daveed there anymore. I closed my eyes, before slowly getting to my feet.
“That’s your only warning, breath when rapping!” I said trying to act casual.
Lin gave me a look, and followed me to the wing.
“Kaley! I’ve never seen you take a fall like that. And you've rapped faster than that before. So, I know that’s not it. What happened?” He asked concern radiating from his whole being.
I sighed and wiped my face.
“Just text me when you get done, I’ll explain after class ok?” I asked softly.
I didn’t think I could talk right now. I saw Lin nod and I turned running from the building. I climbed into my car and dropped my head to the steering wheel.
'It's one thing to not want me. Another to cause me to screw up. But now I just feel terrible. I thought as the tears slid down my face.
I turned my car on finally and started the drive back to campus. I sighed as I pulled into my parking spot. I wiped my face again before climbing from my car, walking slowly into the building. I still had another hour until my class, and I wanted coffee.
'And maybe ice cream' I thought sadly.
I opened the door to see all three of the girls waiting for me.
“Well? You killed it! You totally killed it!” Lo' said excitedly.
I smiled faintly and shrugged.
“No, I probably didn’t get the part.” I said as I walked to the kitchen.
I heard them walk behind me.
“But who else, besides the actual cast knows the musical as well as you do?” Roxie asked looking offended for me.
I shrugged and looked over at them.
“it doesn’t matter, let me just make my coffee and go read over the chapter for my class.” I muttered softly.
Ari walked over to me then and looked at me.
“What happened?” she asked.
I slammed my hands on the counter and spun around.
“What happened? I fucking fell, that’s what happened. Now I’m going to go read my damn chapter while my coffee cooks, just leave me alone!” I shouted running into my room and slamming the door shut.
I quickly crawled into my bed with my book in my hands, reading over it. About twenty minutes later Roxie walked in and looked at me.
“Lo' and Ari already left for class. I’m headed out shorty, but you should think about apologizing.” She said her hands on her hips.
I looked up and nodded.
“I will.” I whispered I didn’t think I could talk any louder than that.
Roxie looked at me, and sighed sitting next to me. She reached over and hugged me rubbing my back.
“Whatever happened really messed you up, huh?” she asked softly.
I snuggled into her hold and sniffled nodding.
“Yeah…I don’t want to talk about it.” I said softly after a few minutes.
Roxie nodded and sat back brushing my hair out of my face and giving me a soft smile.
“It’ll be ok. I have to get to class. Don’t forget to go to yours!” She called as she walked out of the room.
I sighed and set an alarm for twenty minutes from now. I went back to reading my book, drinking my coffee as I did. I heard a ding on my phone and initially ignored before sighing softly and grabbing it.
‘I shouldn’t just ignore everyone. I thought swiping open my phone.
I looked and saw a text from Lin.
“Hey what happened? I found Daveed in a similar position in the hallway.” His text read.
I sighed softly, and looked at the clock. I swore softly and jumped off my bed cramming my books into my bag I chugged the rest of my coffee before jamming my feet into my sneakers. I grabbed my Phone and Keys before running from the apartment, barley stopping to lock the door.
“I'm running late. I’ll text you after class, but seriously? Take a guess. I hope he’s ok. I gotta go.” I sent the text and ran into my class, sliding into my seat just as the bell rang.
“Close one.” A snide voice from the seat behind me came.
I sighed.
“Hello, Rachel I see we have classes together again. Why don’t we try to be mature and leave the childish actions for years passed.” I said, trying to be the bigger person.
She laughed and sat back.
“So, I heard you fell at the Hamilton auditions today!” she said loud enough for the whole class to hear.
I clenched my fists on my desk and took a deep breath.
“It happens, doesn’t help I had been rapping Guns and Ships while bouncing all over the stage. But you wouldn’t know anything about that, would you miss park and bark?” I said slipping in the last comment.
I tried to ignore her and listen to the professor it was difficult, but doable. At least it was until I heard her muttering about Daveed.
‘Oh hell no.’ I thought as I heard her utter a few choice slurs.
I spun around and grabbed her head slamming her face into her desk. Within seconds, we were rolling on the ground arms swinging. It took a couple of the football players to pull us apart and walk us to the headmaster’s office. A nurse was waiting in the office and I ignored her, but took the offered ice pack.
“Alright, girls what happened?” the headmaster asked when he called us in a few minutes later.
Rachel immediately started with the water works.
“She just attacked me!” she cried out over dramatically.
I sat back and raised an eyebrow, ice pack pressed to my eye. The headmaster turned to me.
“Is that true?” He asked his tone firm.
I shrugged and sat forward, pulling the ice pack off my face.
“Nope, I only slammed her face into her desk after she ran her mouth about me for a solid ten minutes and then started saying racist shit against a man I look up to, who we should all look up to. You do what you have to do, but I’m not apologizing to her, no, no way. I refuse, she brought this on herself.” I said firmly and the headmaster nodded.
He turned back to Rachel.
“Is that true?” he asked her.
Rachel looked smug, she should even if he tried to expel her, her dad would just donate money until she was let back in. It’s happened twice already.
“Why should she care what I have to say about some…” Rachel started before I turned to her.
“Do you want to go again?” I asked my voice cold.
The headmaster raised his hand and shook his head.
“Both of you will be out of school for a week, you can stay on campus but won’t be permitted to go to classes. You can get classmates to get your work for you.” The headmaster said with a tone of finality.
I nodded and rose to my feet waving as I walked away.
“But sir!” I heard Rachel about as I was walking away.
I walked slowly back to the dorm debating with myself weather or not to text the girls about what happened, before shrugging and deciding it had been long enough it would be all over school. I stepped inside the building and paused for a second under the heater, it was a cool New York day and this was nice, especially with the icepack. I walked up the stairs and slotted my key in the lock twisted and walked inside, turning and locking the door again. I walked into my room and dropped my bag on my chair before kicking off my shoes and falling into my bed. I sighed and grabbed my phone.
“Hey if you’re free and wanna chat, call me.” I sent Lin quickly.
Within seconds a video call was ringing on my phone and I sighed softly, answering it. Trying to hide the fact I was injured.
“Hey Lin.” I said trying to put cheer into my tone.
“Hey! So, what happened? And turn the camera I can’t see you.” he asked and I heard he still sounded worried.
I sighed and spun the phone a bit, letting him actually see me. I saw his eyes widen.
“What happened? When during the audition or after?” I asked loosing the false cheer.
“I was asking about the audition; we can talk about after afterword’s.” He said, giving me a look.
I sighed and laid back holding the phone over my face. That was the only 'down' side to being close friends with Lin, he worried and treated me like his little sister.
“My string.” I said softly looking to the side.
Lin’s eyes went wide before he tilted his head in confusion.
“But you two have met before, haven’t you?” he asked.
I shook my head adjusting the icepack.
“No, he’s the only one I hadn’t met yet.” I said softly, tired from the events of the day.
Lin nodded and glanced to the side before focusing on the phone again.
“So, what happened?” Lin asked and I shifted knowing he was asking about my face now.
I sighed and scooted up in my bed, my back hurt.
“I’ve had this girl trying to do better than me since I got here. We always have classes together, and she always says some crap to get me mad. Today I wasn’t really in my right mind, focused on everything else. So, I didn’t take her bait, which she didn’t like. She had heard about the fall I took and knew when it happened.” I took a second to stop talking reaching over and grabbing my water to get a drink.
Lin nodded and waited for me to continue. I sighed and closed my eyes, for a second before opening them again.
“Well she started spewing vitriol and I got mad.” I said looking away for a second.
Lin hummed.
“That doesn’t exactly tell me how you got so injured.” He said, he could always tell when I was trying to down play things.
I sighed softly.
“She was spewing racist garbage, so I grabbed her by her hair and slammed her face into her desk. A few seconds after we were rolling in the ground trading punches. Took two of the football players to pull us apart and get us to the headmaster’s office. I’m out of classes for the next week. That’s what happened.” I said finally looking back at Lin having looked away.
Lin’s eyes were wide at what I had said.
“And what happened to her?” he asked.
I shrugged.
“Technically? She got a week out of classes too. In reality? Probably next to nothing. Her dad’s a top donor so he has a lot of sway.” I said rolling my eyes.
Lin nodded and looked up again.
“I have to go but text me your room number and building, I’m sending you your favorite take out.” Lin said quickly.
I shook my head.
“Lin no! It’s fine!” I said quickly.
He looked back to me.
“No, I want to. Please?” he asked giving me his damnable puppy eyes.
I sighed and nodded.
“Alright, go do what you have to do.” I said with a small smile.
He smiled back and waved, ending the call. I sighed and texted my building and number to Lin. I set an alarm, and sat my phone on my bedside table and pulled the blankets over my head, I dozed off and quickly fell into a deep sleep. The alarm went off and I let out a groan. I sat up and turned my alarm off, moving out of bed and changing out of my jeans.
'How did that happen? I never fall asleep in my jeans.’ I thought as I grabbed my phone and walked out to the living room.
I looked at my phone seeing that the girls weren’t going to be back tonight. I sighed and made some coffee letting out a yawn.
“Looks like it’s just me tonight, well at least I don’t have to worry about dinner.” I muttered softly as I moved over to the couch.
I picked up the remote and flipped on some stupid mindless show as I sipped my coffee. I sat back and watched the show, just waiting for a ding of my phone with Lin letting me know the details or a knock. Around 7:30 I heard a ding and looked at my phone. Seeing a text from. Lin.
“Kaley, hey! Sorry I completely lost track of time. You know how I am with new shows. Foods on its way though, be nice to the delivery guy, I was kind of frantic on the phone!” I laughed softly and shook my head.
This was exactly like Lin.
“Don’t worry about it Lin! I know how you are, when you get working! I’m also always nice to delivery drivers. Have a good evening Lin, I’ll message you in the morning.” I sent quickly, already knowing he’d ask me too.
I turned back to my show for a little while longer before a knock on the door pulled me out of the show. I stood up and sat my cup on the table, walking over to the door. I looked through the peephole and saw a paper bag in front of it, I could just make out the logo of my favorite take out place. I undid the lock and pulled the door open.
“Hey! Thanks!” I said smiling at the other person.
That’s when he lowered the bag and I swallowed thickly.
“Hey, can we talk?” He asked.
I nodded mutely and opened the door wider, stepping back and letting him in. I closed the door and waved him over to the couch.
“Do you want a cup of coffee?” I asked more so I had a second to gather myself.
“Yeah that’d be nice.” He said.
I nodded and walked into the kitchen after grabbing my cup. I heard footsteps behind me and leaned up to grab another cup. Pouring the coffee and turning, freezing.
“We should probably start with introductions, even though I’m sure we both know who the other is.” He said.
I nodded and sat the cups on the counter, where he unloaded the food spreading it out. I grabbed a pair of plates and the milk from the fridge. Walking over to him and setting them down, I sat in a chair.
“I'm Kaley Sinclair. Although, in theater I’m mostly called Hyper rush.” I said smiling slightly.
He sat down across from me and reached to grab the milk after I had used it.
“I’m Daveed Diggs, and except for characters, that’s all I’m known as.” He said smiling softly.
I laughed a bit and reached over grabbing some food.
“So, how did you end up delivering dinner? Not that I’m complaining.” I asked before quickly amending.
Daveed laughed and shook his head.
“No, it’s ok. Lin asked me too, plus I have prior delivery experience.” He said laughing down more.
I laughed and winced slightly when my twitched, he instantly noticed and gave me a worried look.
“Are you ok?” he asked softly.
I nodded and waved at my general self.
“I’m fine, just a bit banged up is all.” I said waving it off.
He placed his non string hand over my non string hand and rubbed his thumb over it gently, I smiled at his thoughtfulness.
“I heard a bit of what happened.” He said quietly a minute later.
I looked up at him and shrugged lightly swallowing what I had in my mouth.
“I'd do it again.” I said simply.
His eyes went wide at that, before a soft smile slid across his face.
“That’s….” he just smiled; I flipped my hand.
“It’s what humans should do and how we all should act. She should have kept her mouth shut.” I said firm in my beliefs and already knowing his thoughts on it.
Daveed smiled again at my words and I let out a soft sigh, smiling gently right after. We ate in silence for a little while, finishing eating and slowly packing away the food. Daveed stood looking awkward in the living. I sighed softly and stepped in front of him.
“Relax. We can sit and talk.” I said gently nodding to the couch.
Daveed nodded and we walked over to the couch both of us sitting. We sat silently for a few seconds before Daveed let out a breath.
“I'm sorry.” He said softly.
I looked at him and raised a confused eyebrow.
“Sorry for what? You didn’t do anything wrong.” I said softly with confusion lacing my tone.
He smiled softly and shook his head.
“The audition, Lin told me you were killing it. But you fell.” He said softly.
I nodded understanding on my face, I let out a small laugh, which caused him to look up at me.
“Yeah, they always say the rush will knock you off your feet. I just didn’t expect it to literally knock me off my feet. But don’t worry it’s ok, not your fault.” I said reassuringly.
Daveed lifted his hand the red string still connected to us both, with a small smile.
“I mean it kind of is.” He said softly.
I shook my head.
“No, it’s not. It would have happened eventually. And actually, I’m glad it happened now.” I said with a small smile.
Daveed looked up at me with a confused look on his face.
“Oh? Why?” he asked looking as me.
I laughed and stood, waving for him to stay there I walked into my room and grabbed a small envelope from my top desk drawer walking back out and sitting next to him again, handing to him. Daveed opened it and looked back at me.
“Because it would have happened with you on stage otherwise. And I wouldn’t want that.” I said gently.
He looked up from the tickets in his hand to me with a small smile.
“How are you so…. calm?” he asked finally, after a few seconds.
I couldn’t help but laugh as he passed the ticket back to me.
“I’m not.” I said simply as I stood up and quickly stashed the tickets before sitting back down.
He gave me a confused look, and I smiled a bit.
“To be honest? I’m still waiting to wake up, because this feels like a dream. I didn’t expect you to show up at my door, especially not after …” I broke off and shook my head a small smile on my face.
Daveed gave me another, unreadable look.
“After?” he asked softly.
I looked down and away from him, fiddling with the class ring on my hand. I took a breath and let out a small sigh.
“Especially not after I looked up and saw you were gone.” I said softly, I didn’t know if I could have actually spoken up right then, at least not without my voice cracking.
Daveed reached over and took my hand again, letting his thumb stroke over the back of it.
“I’m sorry, it washed over me so quickly and I didn’t want the others to see me, and realize what happened until we could get a chance to talk. I tried to catch you but you left so quickly. And Lin still figured it out, how I’m not sure.” He said looking into my eyes.
I bit my lip and nodded.
“Lin probably figured it out because if me.” I said softly.
That caught his attention, and he gave me another curious look.
“How, did he figure it out from you?” Daveed asked curiosity clear.
I shrugged lightly and smiled softly.
“Lin and I have known each other for six years. We text, and he texted asking what happened and mentioned finding you on the same position. Without thinking, because I was rushing to class, I basically told him 'I’m late to class what do you think happened?’ and then went to class.” I explained.
Daveed nodded a smile on his face.
“And of course, he figured it out, and decided that setting us up like this was the best idea.” Daveed finished my thought.
That cause a big smile to cross my face as I nodded and laughed a bit.
“I mean that’s how Lin is!” I giggled out.
We sat like that laughing and laughing getting to know each other for a while before I yawned softly. Daveed smiled gently down at me from where I had ended up tucked up to his side his arm wrapped around me.
“Maybe I should let you get some sleep.” He said softly and I snuggled more into his side.
“I don’t want you to go.” I said softly.
He laughed softly and gently nuzzled his nose into my hair.
“But you need to sleep.” He said and I felt the smile he pressed into the top of my head.
I sighed and nodded tilting my head a bit to look up at the clock and frowned slightly.
“You can’t leave now.” I said definitely.
Daveed laughed again and shook his head.
“I’m not going to keep you up all night, besides we can always plan to meet up tomorrow.” He said softly.
I shook my head and unwrapped one arm from around him, pointing at the clock he looked up and his eyes went wide.
“It's already two in the morning. You won’t get back into the city for another hour then who knows how long it’ll take you to get home or where you’re staying. By the time you get home you’ll have to almost turn around and leave for rehearsals in the morning, won’t you?” I asked softly looking up at him.
Daveed rubbed a hand over his face and sighed nodding.
“It’s worth it though.” He said softly a smile taking over his face.
I giggled softly and snuggled into his side.
“You can always stay here and leave in the morning after a couple hours of rest.” I suggested lightly.
Daveed looked down at me a smaller smile crossing his face.
“And your roommates?” he asked softly.
I shrugged.
“They’ll be curious but I’ll keep them away from you for now.” I said quietly.
Daveed laughed a bit and squeezed me gently.
“Alright.” He said finally.
I smiled up at him before slowly uncurling from him and standing up holding out my hand to take his and lead him to my room. We walked in and I ducked into the closet looking through what I had.
“What are you doing?” he asked a small laugh in his tone.
I hummed light before finally finding what I was looking for.
“Ah-hah! I ordered a pair of sleep pants but they sent me a pair about four sizes too big. But I kept them, because I figured they’d come in handy. And they did!” I said spinning to face him.
Daveed smiled at me and took the offered pants and headed to the bathroom to change. He came back smiled gently at me.
“Alright, we should sleep, and thank you.” He said softly.
I smiled gently and walked over to him, he had pulled his shirt off as well and I couldn’t help wrapping my arms around him taking a deep breath. He laughed softly and wrapped his arms around me rocking us gently. I smiled and snuggled into him.
“We have one more thing we have to do first.” I said softly as I pulled back and pulled my hoodie and t-shirt off, leaving me in just a tank top.
He raised an eyebrow as I tossed them into the corner.
“What’s that?” He asked me softly.
I smiled a bit and lifted my left hand wiggling the finger with the red string attached to it.
“I mean, if you want to.” I said softly second guessing myself when he didn’t answer after a few seconds.
He quickly wrapped his arms around me again and pressed his face into the top of my head.
“Of course, I do.” He whispered softly.
I let out a soft sigh, having let my fears get the best of me for a second. There were multiple ways what we were talking about could be done. Daveed uncoiled his arms from around me and stepped back a step, a smile on his face. He used his right hand to lift my face and leaned down, pressing his forehead to mine.
“Are you sure?” he asked softly his voice barely a breath over my face.
I swallowed and nodded my eyes locked with his.
“Absolutely.” I whispered.
Daveed smiled gently and leaned in, connecting our lips. I sighed softly into the gentle kiss, completely relaxing into it. He let his right slide up the side of my head resting on the side of my face, as I let mine drift up and press against his chest. I felt his left-hand land on my shoulder and slide down my arm slowly. I felt butterflies fluttering in my stomach the closer his hand slide to mine. I felt his hand hit my wrist and then he twisted both of our hands so they we’re palm together. I gasped into the electric feeling, hearing an equally sharp gasp. Daveed laced our fingers and let the electricity race through us, as we continued to kiss. The feeling started to lessen and we sighed softly, after a few minutes we pulled back and pressed our foreheads against each other. The feeling had lessened but the tingle was still there.
“Woah.” I whispered softly.
The kiss had incited fireworks to flash and the bond forming had cause electricity to course up and down our spines.
“Woah.” Daveed agreed just as softy.
We smiled at each other sharing another sweet soft kiss before climbing into the bed. He laid behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist. I sighed softly and relaxed into his hold, reaching over and setting an alarm.
“When do you have to be up?” I asked softly.
Daveed hummed for a few seconds.
“Probably around seven, so I can be there by nine.” He said nuzzling into the back of my neck.
I giggled softly as I set the alarm.
“Your beard tickled me.” I murmured softly, relaxing back into him after setting my phone down.
Daveed laughed softly and rubbed his face against my neck again, making me giggle again. I fell asleep with him rubbing soft soothing patterns into my side. Hours later I groaned hearing my alarm going off, I reached over and swiped it off with a sigh snuggling back into the warmth behind me and froze for a second as the memories of last night came back. I sighed and rolled over laying my head on Daveed’s chest smiling softly when he wrapped his arms tighter around me. He pressed a kiss to the top of my head and I sighed softly in response.
“Mmm good morning.” He murmured; voice heavy with sleep.
I felt a small shiver run through me at the gravelly tone his voice had and pressed a small kiss to his chest in response.
“Good morning.” I said just as softly.
Just as I tilted my head up to get a proper good morning kiss, my door swung open and I lunged out of bed grabbing it and slamming it back shut.
“Roxie or Ari or Lo' NOW is NOT the time!” I shouted leaning against the door and breathing heavily eyes wide.
I heard a sigh from the other side of the door.
“You’re going to be late for first class come on!” Roxie called, beating on my door.
I laughed and shook my head, sending a look and small apologetic smile to Daveed, I turned and slipped out of the door closing it behind me to lean against it again.
“Roxie, I got into a fight yesterday. I’m out of class for a week.” I said slowly reminding her and waving at my face which was by now no doubt sporting a black eye.
Roxie sighed and tilted her head back.
“Right, forgot sorry. So, who’s the guy?” Roxie asked a smirk on her face.
That’s when I realized Ari and Lo' were right behind her wearing the same look. Logan held Daveed’s jacket in her hands with a smug smirk. I growled and held my hand out.
“He’s mine, and that’s all you need to know currently. Look go to class or go in your rooms. He has to leave soon and you three aren’t going to hound him.” I said firmly as Logan handed me his jacket.
Roxie tossed her hands up and grabbed her backpack turning to the door.
“I took some of the take out for lunch!” she called as she walked out.
Logan following with a similar call. And Ari just waved before going back into her room. I sighed and turned back walking back into my room. I smiled at Daveed who was now sitting up on the edge of my bed.
“I'm sorry about that.” I said softly sitting down beside him.
He smiled and leaned over tilting my head and pressing a kiss to my lips.
“It’s ok, they’re curious.” He said softly.
I nodded and watched as he stood up. And moved to get his clothes I stood up and wrapped my arms around him, splaying my hands over his abs. I hummed lightly and he laughed, turning and wrapping his arms around me.
“I have to get ready.” He said softly.
I sighed and nodded nuzzling my nose into his chest.
“I know but I find myself not wanting to let you.” I whispered.
He smiled and pressed his face into my hair, before pulling back and uncoiling one arm from around me. He tilted my head up and pressed a kiss to my lips, I sighed softly and leaned into the kiss, using this time to really memories how his lips feel against mine. When oxygen became a necessity, we pulled back pressing our foreheads together and he brushed his nose against mine, drawing a small giggle from me.
“Now it’s a good morning.” He said with a warm smile on his face.
I nodded a warm smile over taking my face as well.
“It is.” I agreed softly.
We pulled back and he moved to the bathroom, turning at the door he sent me a smile.
“Why don’t you come with me? I’m sure Lin won’t mind.” He said softly with a smile playing on his lips.
I smiled back and nodded.
“Ok, sounds good.” I said softly.
He smiled back and turned to the bathroom. I moved to the closet and quickly got dressed stepping out I saw the bathroom door open so I looked in, seeing him stood in front of the mirror, messing with his hair. I giggled softly as I stepped inside.
“There you are.” He said dropping his arms to wrap around me.
I smiled and leaned up pressing a kiss to the underside of his chin. Delighting in the light shiver that I felt travel through him. I reached up into the cabinet and pulled out a pair of toothbrushes and toothpaste smiling and handing one to Daveed.
“I always have extra.” I said in explanation when he looked at me.
He laughed and shook his head, before we quickly began brushing our teeth, he kept one arm wrapped around me. I sighed softly and leaned back against him, smiling gently at him in the mirror. We finished our teeth and looked up in the mirror, I reached over and grabbed my brush and ran it through my hair. I smiled softly as I pulled hair up into a ponytail. Daveed took my hand and lead me from the bathroom and out of my room. I paused for a second smiling up at him.
“Later Ari!” I shouted grabbing my bag and keys.
Daveed and I walked from the room and down the stairs, leaving the building. He led me over to his car and we climbed inside, retaking each other’s hands almost on autopilot as Daveed started the car and put it in drive. We got on the road and Daveed lifted our joined hands to turn the radio on, turning the volume down with a small smile.
“Hope you don’t mind. I usually listen on the way in.” he said softly.
I shook my head with a smile and leaned over, and kissed his cheek.
“I enjoy your music.” I said simply.
Daveed turned and sent me a smile before quickly turning back to the road. The ride didn’t seem to take as long as it actually did and before long, we had pulled into a hotel parking lot.
“I have to run up and change, otherwise neither one of us will ever hear the end of it.” He said smiling gently.
I nodded, a smile playing on my lips.
“Alright.” I said softly.
He lifted our hands and kissed the back of mine.
“I’ll be right back, maybe ten minutes.” He said smiling.
I nodded and watched as Daveed climbed from the car, still holding my hand until he had to let go. He closed the door and sent me a smile before running into the hotel. I sighed and leaned back against the comfortable seat in the car. Grabbing my phone and opening it to look at any messages I might have. My eyebrows furrowed together when I saw frantic messages in the group chat with Roxie, Ari and Logan.
“Girl! You have to see this! Rachel has gone too far!” Roxie sent, alongside a photo.
I raised an eyebrow, in a chat where we sent basically porn pics often enough, we didn’t usually use the 'cover image’s feature on the app. I tapped the picture and my eyes went wide a gasp slipping from my lips. There on screen was a horrible flyer, with the nastiest words imaginable printed on it. I felt the tears well in my eyes as I read all of the words. From disparaging and hateful words about me to hateful and nasty things about Daveed. I backed out of the photo quickly, my thumbs flying across the screen.
“Take then all down! Now! Get rid of them all! I’m not on campus please, Roxie, Lo' Ari! Please you have to do this, it can’t get out, I can’t let him be drawn into my feud with that hateful witch! Please this could really hurt his career! Burn them if you have to but make sure nobody else sees them!” I sent frantically.
Just as I hit send, I heard the backdoor open and close a second before the front door opened, I looked up at Daveed who was dressed in new clothes.
“Hey, what’s up?” he asked having seen the look on my face.
I heard my phone ding and looked down quickly.
“I’ll explain in a second.” I whispered, my voice shaking.
“Girl, already done. Just focus on you and him we got you covered here!” Roxie sent along with another image.
This one showed Ari and Lo' holding boxes of the flyers and a shredder between them working away at a stack of them already.
“Thanks girls I owe you one, we both do. Keep it up.”  I sent before sighing and turning.
I looked over at Daveed who was watching me with concern. I sighed and closed my eyes opening the app on instinct and swiping up a bit.
“I'm so sorry to drag you into this. We’re already doing damage control so it shouldn’t get out, there shouldn’t be rumors or anything.” I whispered softly.
“Kaley, what happened?” he asked reaching over and taking my hands.
I sighed and freed the one holding my phone sending him a small, worried smile.
“The girl who did this, posted hateful posters all over campus. They’re horrible but Roxie and Lo' saw them got Ari and got them all down and are now destroying them.” I whispered softly.
Daveed lifted his free hand and placed it on the side of my face, his thumb rubbing gently over my cheek. I sighed and closed my eyes, leaning into his hand.
“Ok, it’ll be ok.” He said reassuringly.
I sighed and opened my eyes looking into his, I leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to his lips.
“Remember, they’re all down. And getting destroyed currently.” I said softly.
Daveed looked at me confused for a second before I clicked the picture and turned my phone to face him, he took the phone and held it in his free hand. I saw his eyes scanning over the flyer, his eyes widening each time he saw something new. I knew he finished when his head dropped back against the car seat. I watched him as he worked through his thoughts, he turned his head to me and slipped my phone into the cup holder raising his hand he placed it onto the side of my face, drawing me forward he pressed a kiss to my lips. I kissed back just as fiercely as he kissed me but after a minute we pulled back, and he rubbed his thumb over my cheek.
“None of that is true.” He said firmly as if trying to make me believe.
I smiled softly and nodded.
“I know it’s not; I wasn’t worried for myself. I was worried for you.” I said gently.
Daveed gave me a sweet smile and shook his head.
“I’m ok, I was more worried with how you reacted than anything else.” He said softly.
I laughed a bit.
“I reacted like that because I didn’t want my stupid school yard feud to get this far, to involve you. I know if your label sees that shit, they’ll call and talk to you but they won’t like that it’s out there. I won’t let anything interfere with your career. That’s the only worry I had.” I said just as softly.
He huffed out a small laugh and kissed me again. Leaning back, he started the car again pulling out of the parking lot.
“It’s ok, they know me. And your friends seem to have it under control. Let’s just try and enjoy our day together ok?” he asked softly.
I nodded and smiled gently at him.
“Yeah, sounds good to me.” I agreed easily.
With that the short ride back to the theater was quiet besides the soft music playing in the car. Daveed pulled into a spot and he turned the car off turning and smiling at me.
“Lin is never going to let us hear the end of this.” He said softly lifting our joined hands and pressing a kiss to the back of mine.
I laughed softly.
“Like he’d even try! He’ll just be giddy and giggly and bouncy all happy because of this. And knowing him….” I said laughing softly and trailing off, shaking my head.
Daveed laughed, nodding.
“He’s going to be singing the kissing song as soon as he sees us.” He finished my thought.
I laughed at the thought and Daveed joined me laughing loudly. We laughed for a long time, both unable to stop. We finally managed to stop and climbed from the car. Daveed reaching into the back to grab his bag as I checked the message that just came in on my phone.
“It’s done! We’ll handle the rest of damage control have fun!” Logan sent into the group chat.
I smiled softly sending a quick message back.
“Thanks girls! You’re amazing!” I slipped my phone away.
Daveed took my hand as soon as it was free giving me a gentle look, I smile and lean up pressing a kiss to his cheek.
“The girls just finished destroying the posters and wanted to let us know.” I said smiling softly.
Daveed nodded and kissed my forehead before leading me inside. We stopped at the office so Daveed could say hi to some of the people there and I waved politely when they looked at me. Daveed had wrapped an arm around me at this point and led me down the stairs towards his dressing room.
“Daveed! There you are! I thought you were going to text me when you got home?” Lin’s voice came sailing about a mile a minute from behind us.
Daveed looked down at me at the same time as I looked up at him.
“Yeah, I only got home this morning.” Daveed said turning us carefully.
Lin’s eyes went wide and he giggled running up to us, wrapping us both in hugs.
“Yes! I knew it!” he said cheering.
I couldn’t help but to laugh at the man.
“Yes, you did. And I thank you. But I have to go get dressed for practice.” Daveed said grinning at him.
Lin nodded enthusiastically.
“Right! Oh! Kaley! Good news! Come here!” Lin said grabbing my hand.
I tried to snuggle closer to Daveed.
“I don’t wanna!” I whined petulantly.
Daveed laughed softly and leaned down kissing my lips softly.
“I’ll be right here when you get back. Well not here, but my dressing room.” He said softly reassuringly.
I sighed softly and nodded.
“Oh alright.” I said softly pulling myself out of Daveed’s warm hold slowly.
As soon as I was clear of Daveed’s hold Lin took off down the hall quickly.
“Lin! I can’t keep up with your coffee fueled steps!” I shouted almost running after him.
I heard Daveed's laugh echoing off the halls and sighed softly. Lin slowed as we reach a split in the hallway, stopping completely.
“Ok, ok. Trust me!” he said putting his hands over my eyes.
I sighed and walked forward when he nudged me.
“I trust you, but Lin, I swear I will beat you if I fall down stairs!” I exclaimed softly.
Lin laughed and I felt him shake his head.
“No steps don’t worry, we’re almost there.” Lin said and I heard the smile.
We walked for another minute or so.
“Ok, stop!” Lin called turning me slightly.
I smiled softly at his obvious excitement.
“Close your eyes!” He said and I felt him bounce slightly.
I laughed and shut my eyes.
“They’re closed.” I assured.
I felt him move and I assume he stopped in front of me making sure my eyes were closed. I felt him shuffle me a bit and laughed as he did.
“Hmm ok. Ok! Open your eyes!” He said and I heard the physical restraint in his voice.
I laughed as I opened my eyes only to stop short.
“Lin? What the hell?” I asked softly, my eyes wide.
Lin laughed and reached over twisting the knob.
“You were still our best audition. So, welcome to the crew if you still want it. Please tell me you still want it?” Lin said smiling a bit nervously.
I laughed and started jumping around in place.
“If I want it? OF COURSE, I want it! Ahh thank you Lin!” I exclaimed hugging him quickly.
He laughed and hugged me back, we pulled apart and I walked into the room behind the door that held my name. Looking around the dressing room.
“it’s just the first act who’s rehearsing today, second act is tomorrow. So, you can go and head back to Daveed I just wanted to show you.” Lin said as he leaned against the doorway.
I giggled and spun around the room.
“Lin, seriously thank you.” I said turning back to him with a smile.
He laughed and shook his head.
“You earned it!” He said smiling.
After that he gave me the room key and I head back towards Daveeds dressing room a smile on my face. I knocked lightly on the closed door hearing a few voices from Inside before the door swung open.
“There you are, thought you got lost for a minute.” Daveed said smiling at me.
I blinked quickly and shook my head.
“No, thankfully I didn’t haha.” I said as he let me in.
I smiled up at him and he leaned down kissing me softly.
“AWWW!” shouted both Anthony and Oak as they saw it.
Daveed turned but I saw he couldn't get the smile off his face.
“Oh, shut up! So, what did Lin want?” He asked turning back to me.
I pulled out my key and held it up to him.
“He didn’t tell you?” Anthony called at the same moment.
I rolled my eyes when Daveeds widened seeing the key. He grabbed me up in a hug and swung me around, I giggled wrapping my arms around him.
“I knew you could do it.” He said softly, as our foreheads pressed together.
I smiled softly.
“Well that makes one of us.” I whispered and he pressed a kiss to my lips again.
Which of course caused the other two to call out again. Daveed sat me on my feet and brushed my hair behind me ear with a soft smile.
“Why don’t you two go finish getting ready.” Daveed suggested softly.
“Yeah, we’ll see you out there. Just don’t get distracted.” Oak said slipping out the door quickly, Anthony right behind him.
I giggled a bit.
“You’re happy.” He said turning to me as he finished fixing his neck poof thing.
I nodded.
“I am, I’m glad I got this.” I said sitting on the couch.
Daveed smiled and turned back to the mirror making sure his outfit looked good. A few minutes later I sat up ramrod straight and groaned.
“Fuck!” I exclaimed.
Daveed whipped around looking for a problem, and I laughed softly at his face.
“What happened?” He asked eyes wide.
I smiled softly before it faded and I leaned back.
“Nothing, technically is wrong. I just fucking realized the downside to this.” I sighed softly.
Daveed shrugged into his jacket as he walked over to sit beside me.
“And what’s that?” he asked taking my hand in his.
I sighed softly smiling at the small action.
“Well the role I got was Maria, right?” I started softly.
Daveed nodded staying silent and letting me continue.
“Lin is basically my brother.” I said sounding grossed out.
Daveed laughed a bit and kissed me gently.
“Ok, so what’s the problem?” he asked smiling.
I smiled and shook my head.
“It means that I have to both kiss and basically give a lap dance on stage to my brother.” I said pulling a face.
Daveed also pulled a face.
“That’s gross, my only suggestion is, get into the character?” Daveed suggested lightly.
I laughed and nodded wrapping my arms up around his neck carefully not to disturb the poof his hair had been pulled back into. I leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his lips, his hands instantly finding my hips before sliding back around my back. I sighed softly into the kiss only to groan a few seconds later when the door opened.
“Oh! I…uhm…I’m sorry! But it’s just about time to head up.” Leslie said turning quickly so his back was to the room.
I laughed as Daveed and I pulled away from each other. He stood up and took my hand, pulling me up. We walked over to Leslie and Daveed tapped his shoulder.
“Let’s go.” Daveed said and I giggled lightly as he pulled out the Lafayette voice.

Whirlwind | Buddie one shot
Main ship: Eddie Diaz/Evan Buckley
Wordcount: +- 830 words
Rating: PG-13, could be seen as general though if not for the abo mention.
Warnings: Mentions ABO dynamics but isn’t explicit.
Forgive me for the bad Spanish, I’m still learning the language and found some sentences on some blogs that sounded cool. I have no real idea if they are accurate. They seem to be, but I could be wrong on that.
Also, this is my first writing since well, a long time. I’ve been struggling with writer’s block and mental health. So while constructive criticism is accepted, be nice on this one.
Based on the prompt: “I’m trying to get my life together and you keep coming in causing more chaos than a tornado but I think I’m catching feelings for you and your simultaneous disaster” au
Tagging: @daughter-of-infinity for this one, cause I promised ;).

He finally had things figured out for once. He moved to LA, found an apartment, got a job at the local fire department and got Chris settled all within a few weeks of moving. Not a bad start all things considered. What he hadn’t counted on, however, was the absolute whirlwind by the name of one Evan Buckley. Buck had snuck his way into Eddie’s and Chris’s lives wormed his way into their hearts and was now considered a part of the family. Buck even went with him to family events for Christ’s sake!
Abuela absolutely loved him, his sisters kept pushing him to ‘put a ring on it, mijo.’ (Sweetheart/boy/my son, familial)
And Buck? Well, Buck was currently drinking beers with his brothers-in-law and father. Figures.
If he thought back on things, he could pinpoint the exact moment that Buck had overtaken his life. The day he’d driven him to the school to pick up Chris. The way he smiled at Eddie and Chris, which Auntie had told him all about. From that day on, Chris had taken to Buck like a fish to water. And truth be told, so had Eddie.
“Bucky, Bucky! I found a grasshopper!” Chris’s voice echoed across the yard. A quick look showed him sitting in the grass hunched over something or the other. Buck ran over in a second or two and sat down next Chris. Both of them smiling and gasping over a tiny little grasshopper that was just chilling in the grass. Absolute dorks, the both of them and he loved them for it.
He must have been smiling at the sight, judging by the looks his sisters, his mother, his grandmother, and his aunt gave him.
“Sweetheart? Why is he not wearing a ring yet?” His mother asked.
He sighed. "Mama, we're not dating. We’re just- you know, amigos. Friends.”
The women surrounding him gave him a rather pointed look. “Ay Mijo! Amigos?-” His aunt scoffed at him while his oldest sister shook her head, “El amor es ciego, pero los vecinos no.”  (Love is blind, but not the neighbors.)
“Anyone can see what he means to you, Eddie.” His older sister sighed as she laid a hand on his shoulder and squeezed gently.
He smiled at his aunts and sister’s words and sighed softly as he looked at Christopher and Buck. The latter of which had managed to catch the little grasshopper and was now showing it to a giggling Chris. He couldn’t help but draw in a shaky breath as he beamed at the sight. That was his family. His soulmate and his son.
“You’re never going to find another Alpha like him, Mijo.” His grandmother gently pressed a cold metal object in his hands. He instinctively curled his fingers around it and held it up or closer inspection. “Abuela, this is- this is abuelo’s old ring.”
“Si, mijo. And now it is yours,” She nodded at Buck, “And maybe one day his. Hmm?”
He couldn’t take this from her and was about to say as much when his grandmother placed a finger to his lips. “Sush, take it and keep it safe for when the time is right. Frente al amor y la muerte no sirve de nada ser fuerte.”  (Face love head on and death has no strength.)
He nodded at her words and carefully put the ring deep into his pocket in order to keep it safe. The Omega once again looked over at Chris and Buck. Warmth coursing through him as he realized he’d do anything to keep both of them at his side forever.
So he walked over and sat down behind Buck, his legs on either side of the alpha. He laid his head on Buck’s shoulder and smiled as Buck slowly leaned back against him.
“Hey Eddie, we caught a grasshopper, see?” The Alpha showed him the tiny grasshopper perched on his finger for proof.
“Huh, I guess you did, cariño. I’m impressed.” (darling)
Buck turned his head just so, their lips just inches from one another as he grinned up at Eddie, “You know, I still have no idea what that means.”
He managed to control his breathing and returned the beaming smile. “Maybe one day you’ll find out. I could uh, explain it to you over dinner, tomorrow.”
Buck’s smile turned mischievous and his expression a bit puzzled as he pondered over Eddie’s words. “Are you asking me to stay for dinner?”
“He’s asking you to stay forever!” Abuela yelled across the yard.
Causing Buck to laugh and lean further back into him.  “Guess I wouldn’t say no that,” Buck said biting his lip and turning those baby blues up to stare into Eddie’s eyes.
“Yeah?” Eddie grinned.
“Yeah.”
Buck hadn’t just wormed his way into Eddie’s family. He’d come in like a whirlwind, like an all destructive tornado, and by all means, it shouldn’t have worked out the way it did. But somehow Buck had settled just right into their hearts and into their family. Fit right in. And truthfully he didn’t want it any other way.
