maybe if I go through the motions and act fine on the surface, I'll convince myself I'm fine and I'll feel better. I got these shoes from someone recently but thought they were way too plain looking, so I set out on a quest to customize them with some sharpies and charms and miscellaneous ribbon I had in my craft drawers. Mostly sky themed (clouds, rainbows, rain, stars, etc.) because that's my favorite aesthetic, but I had to include some cat imagery as well, of course lol.

I've reached season 5 on my CSI rewatch and I'm a few episodes past "Swap Meet", where a woman is murdered after attending a swing party with other couples from the neighbourhood. Near the end of the episode there's a moment that made me jump from my seat:

(Grissom walks up to Sara and takes the seat next to her. He's holding two cups. He hands her a cup of tea.)

[INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - BRASS' OFFICE]

Erin Brady: Everybody fantasizes about other people. (She glances at Grissom.)

Even you, Mr. Grissom. A neighbor, a friend ... girl at the office.

[INT. POLICE DEPARTMENT - HALLWAY]

(The door opens. Paul Brady walks out of the hallway. Erin Brady walks out into the hallway. Sara is sitting in the hallway chair watching them. She watches as they meet and kiss.)

(Grissom walks up to Sara and takes the seat next to her. He's holding two culps. He hands her a cup of tea.)

Right after Erin ends her sentence with 'girl at the office', the first time Sara and Grissom meet again, he brings her tea. This might be an innocent interaction but to me it seemed like a nod to this relationship they have where both are into each other, know about the other's feelings, but can't/won't do anything about it (although Sara has kind of given Grissom an ultimatum). I don't know if it was intentional - I'm guessing it is, because I picked it up immediately. I might or might not have squealed in delight.

Me thinks Yosano has potentially (keyword!) the best character development that occurs PRE-bsd main story.

She is forcibly enlisted into the army by Mori. She is forced to heal people from the brink of death, slowly driving both them and her to insanity. She goes insane after watching Tachihara's brother kill himself in front of her. She is thrown into a secure facility for two years. Her demons (Mori) come back to haunt her and Fukuzawa and Ranpo come to save her.

Yosano was severely fucked up at a horrible young age (after all she and Chuuya might both be children of war but Yosano is the one that remembers what happened to her) and when we first meet her in bsd main story SHE IS PERFECTLY FINE! SHE'S (mostly) MENTALLY STABLE! She's out here living her best life. And I'm happy for her.

And yes. I do understand that Dazai has more character development pre-main story and that he as a person has grown more (but also we get to see how that happened what pushed Dazai into the light and how he goes from nothing in life matters :( to nothing in life matters :D) And that all of the characters in bsd have suffered. But how many of them can you say got really fucked over by life and came out of it mostly intact. I have 2. Yosano and Ranpo. (And before Fukuzawa got to him Ranpo was on a one way path to being really messed up)
