Thoughts for The Montkraken Episode

so, I just finished the chapter and… wow I have a lot to say. I took screen shots for every part I wanted to talk about and I think this rant will be SUPERRRR long so bear with me. Tumblr won’t let me add screenshots so when I have better service I’ll edit the post to add them. These paragraphs are theories and side notes that I wrote after reading a certain section so you’re gonna see my thought process throughout the story. As always, spoilers ahead so I recommend skipping this if you haven’t read it already.

Alright so I was once a hater of this ship BUT… the Shobaru shippers may have a point in this guys 😭. LIKE.. I HAVE THE SCREENSHOT OF SUBARU BLUSHING UHHH. That is not a heterosexual stare feller 🤨…

AHHHHHHH THE FROSTHEIM DUO ARE BACKKKKK!!! I missed them so so much they’re so silly and deserve the best. Honestly the only two I trust in this school cause I CANT. I literally suspect anyone but them, but Imma be so disappointed if either of them are hiding something. I’ll be sad, but like I’ll help 🙄. I was actually so sad when the MC mentioned being the reason they could be in danger like GIRLLLLL DONT SAY THAT PLEASEEEEE. ITS LIKE THE ANGST WITH ADEUCE AND YUU LIKE STAWPOPP. Also when the Vagastorm kids were like “aw yeah Mido wouldn’t lie like that” it makes me happy that people can at least trust him enough to be honest and idk I found that kinda sweet :3. We’re also getting a bit of a timeline, like the One-Eyed Sleeping Beauty Murder being BEFORE the clash (sorry if this was already mentioned I don’t really remember stuff from the past chapters) which could’ve been a trigger.

Also, I feel like they’re trying to tell us that Jiro is Zenji’s brother because when he had that little laugh about the MC being scared of bodies, he said too. When you click the “too?” option, he just says that he isn’t the one afraid. It’s not Yuri as well cause he’s literally a doctor that is in the same room when autopsies are in session. Whatever the case, I assume he was referencing to Zenji, though it being a blurry memory. Little theory tho.

OK SO THIS IS JUST SO FUNNY TO ME. In Chapter 9’s title it says, “Girl Learns Shocking Truth About Monster”. I like to think the shocking truth was the fact he didn’t shower for 3 days 😭. CAUSE THATS THE PART SHE SOUNDS MOST SHOCKED. Idk that part was silly to me. THEY’RE OUTFITS FOR THEIR DORM IS SOOOOOO PRETTY. They ate I fear, a bit more than the other dorms. Also side note, they dropped A LOT of info with just how they word things. For example, Yuri saying “Jiro, you are well aware that I will not be associated with those germs AGAIN.” Soooo Yuri was in Frostheim? I don’t doubt it bc there’s another line that says “I’d rather not recall how bitterly cold that place is” which can MEAN TWO THINGS. I’m super sure that they’re implying that yeah, he was, but then something happened blah blah blah.

WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITH HYDE AND DANTE??? Like ok bitches, spill your shot to us too don’t be shy. So, confirmed by them, Dante and Hyde used to go to school in Darkwick (which I assume the rest of the teachers are too). That explains their back and forth. WHAT REALLY CAUGHT MY EYE WERE THESE LINES.

Hyde: “…You really are a softie, Dan-Dan.” (Haha Dan- Dan)

Dante: “It would seem that way to someone as cold as you.” (???) “…There are lines that shouldn’t be crossed, Hyde.”

Hyde: “…I’ll keep that in mind.”

WHATTTTT. WHAT ARE THE LINES. GO IN DETAIL ARGHHHHH. This gives us more info on the character individually too. Dante describes Hyde as cold… DANTE. So, it was obvious that this whole happy go lucky attitude was fake, but I expected to be more like Haru’s kind of attitude not like that yk?? now I know how much of a cash grab this game is, but I really hope they aren’t going to stretch the story out too long to the point where you have to P2W cause I haven’t paid a cent and I don’t plan to. I still want to learn more about them and stuff so :(. On the topic of Dante, there was a small flashback where I missed a word in the sentence that Dante said while talking with Alan. “I’m the man you supposedly killed.” Supposedly?? Now, I didn’t my catch this in my first run, but now it’s like wdym supposedly?? Shouldn’t you know? This is giving hella Jiro vibes and honestly, I’m getting sick and tired of these characters having a bad memory.

SPEAKING OF JIRO- he seems to have problems remembering things and they come back to him in the very weird moments (honestly a kin moment). I would like the think that he’s just suffering from the damages he had to go through from the clash. His relationship with Yuri is so… sad to me. Yuri seems to doubt him a little bit and I feel like he sees him as just a specimen, not much of a friend. Meanwhile, Jiro smiles a lot to Yuri and listens to him like a master, like that’s what he’s supposed to do. NOT AGAINST HIS OWN WILL DONT GET ME WRONG. He’s just so neutral about it it makes me a bit like awwww :(. They’re cute tho idrc.

Ok moving on to Haku and Tohma. (Ok at this point I’m getting nervous cause why are we seeing so many characters now. That’s probably just a coincidence). OK THESE TWO HAVE GOT IT GOING. Like there’s tension when you get their chat in the campus but this is like woahhhh… Also I don’t like how Tohma says “our wheelhouse? I see..” it makes me think he’s like implying “so you think you’re a part of them now?” IDK THATS JUST MY LITTLE STRETCH. Also poor Zenji, he’s like “aw yeah I died in vain lol” LIKE OUCH.

Nicholas. I DO NOT LIKE HIM. I REPEAT. I DO NOT LIKE HIM FOR A MINUTE OF A SECOND. The only staff I like are the cats, the grocer guy, and MAYBE Dante. LIKE HES SO… NORMAL?? LIKE THERE’S SOMETHING WEIRD GOING ON IK THERE IS. When MC says “I can’t believe Professor Nicolas would do something like that” I DO 😡🙋‍♀️. I am in full support of Yuri finding crimes against this guy.

Also, little other side note, I just realized that Yuri and Jiro have matching earring in opposite ears. It’s so cute.

Ok I might have to go back to the beginning and see what the “goat like anomaly” Jiro is talking about when he mentions the prophecy, cause I said “… the chancellor is a goat??” BUT ANYWAYS. Speaking of the prophecy, I’ll jot it down.

Stating the obvious here, but this is most likely referencing to the last cutscenes we get when we choose our characters. I’ve checked the cutscenes again and there’s no visible moon, meaning it could correlate to the “new moon” portion. (Search up new moon to see what I mean). Assuming Solitary island means death, that would also help with the theory. So, whoever we chose in the beginning might just be the person who won the Laurel Crown.Honestly, this is just a silly little Drabble for a theory and VERY vague. Maybe the champion resides in the events of the past that we still don’t know about but this kinda helps?? Idk I’m just putting what I think at the moment. I’ll probably reread the game so I can get a better timeline. Also, Yuri’s rant about demon particles… doesn’t exactly sit right with me. Were they chosen to be resilient or was it just a birth thing?? Idk but I feel like a lot is missing from his theory. I mean, we’re using human logic to a supernatural cause so I don’t think pacts acting as allergies would work. If they’re not chosen, could it be that the ghouls can make pacts with more than one demon? I wanna see what happens if that was the case. Please comment if I missed something 😭.

It’s such a sad face like, did he know this mermaid personally or was this fear?? Either way, I wanna meet him cause the other one was so pretty.

Hello love, what could it mean to have Jupiter in libra in 10th exactly trine Neptune in Aquarius in 2nd house ?

so im cookin up a theory in my head in regards to libra and virgo specifically, it's not fully formed yet i gotta think abt it more but ill test it out a bit here-

to me, jupiter can represent what someone is naturally gifted at and also always learning, i wrote a whole newsletter abt my take on jupiter so if ur interested, here u go-

and libra generally represents balance and such, but in this half-formed theory im letting marinate in my head, libra and virgo are the two signs that are essential "human" signs- meaning they deal primarily with the subject of humanity itself-

cant elaborate too much on that yet unfortunately bc like i said im still cooking it BUT- Jupiter in Libra to me could mean you're always willing to learn more about what it means to be human and be fair to others- you probably have a strong sense of justice and are very "treat people how you would want to be treated"- and you may have a natural gift for social mediation, like you probably have the ability to speak to and unite groups of people.

jupiter in the 10th house has a saturn/capricorn connotation to it, and in libra, id say you have the potential to be a very fair manager in a way? like you're probably a strong advocate for equal pay, stuff like that

a neptune trine gives your jupiter a more spiritual side though so the more ✨✨💫💫🔮🔮 side of that saturn/cap connotation would be potentially prophetic insight into where you're supposed to be going in life and where you've been- you're probably very good at seeing the bigger picture in everything but im not sure what the rest of ur chart looks like so there Is potential for u to get lost in the big picture and forget abt details unless you have a strong saturn/mercury- which u probably do have a relatively strong saturn considering the cap rising-

and neptune in the 2nd house, idk if it's retrograde or not so this could be very hit or miss but neptune in the 2nd could give you a strange relationship with money or your basic needs- jupiter in 10th could even this out a little or make it worse but similar to neptune in the 8th house, you could notice money coming and going through very weird ways- like maybe you get inheritances that you didn't expect, general influxes of money that you didn't expect, or maybe you get very costly bills that you didn't expect or something to that effect- the uranus connotation your neptune has could amplify that unexpected, random energy too because uranus is such an erratic planet.

jupiter trine neptune is a CRAZY spiritual aspect itself though- again im not sure what the rest of your chart looks like so i can't tell you super specifics BUT if it was afflicted, like either planet badly aspected besides the trine, jupiter would just expand upon neptune's delusional tendencies and that could lead to some serious financial, social and spiritual crises- i say social because libra rules the 7th house and aquarius rules the 11th house, both houses being generally associated with partners or collectives

if it isn't afflicted and is instead backed up by multiple other planets, you probably have some crazy intuition and clair-abilities- you could have what i like to call a built-in vibe detector when it comes to meeting new people (like i do hiii), or people could easily deceive you via potential high hopes-

Idk if you’ve answered this already but at what point in their relationship did Jesse tell Demi ab his past? How did that go over? How much does she know?

ive mentioned it some before but i haven't really gone super in depth!! as u all may know, i am very "and then everyone made it to alaska and everything ended up ok!! :)" minded, so i dont have a big dramatic revelation beat to my story and ultimately, jesse never tells demi that he's living under a completely new identity. however, he does tell her a Lot of other things, partially because he trusts her, partially because he feels guilty keeping things from her that might make her see him differently; he feels that she deserves to know how fucked up he is so she can escape him and avoid tying herself down to a mistake. jesse first tells her about his drug use after demi explains how her sister died, again out of that guilt and the expectation that she won't want to associate with a former(ish) addict, but demi saw firsthand how powerful addiction can be and isnt scared off. when it comes to his criminal history, it takes him a little longer to work up the nerve to disclose that stuff: he's afraid of both endangering her by letting her know what he's done and losing her. he drops a few things along the way, usually related to drug dealing and production since she was so understanding of that aspect of his past, but once they decide to get married, he feels that he owes it to her to be totally honest. the dark details of making and selling the drugs, being around violence and controlling figures. enacting violence himself. losing people. being sold into slavery. he leaves out specific identifying details (demi's never been a current events kind of person but he cant risk her connecting those dots) and places a lot of the blame on himself instead of trying to describe the people from his past who were pulling a lot of those strings. its basically an abridged version of the show's events, no names, no details in certain places (he doesnt even tell her which state he used to live in), and no forgiveness.

demi listens patiently the whole time, not asking many questions along the way. she tenses up when he touches on captivity, but otherwise her demeanor remains open and nonjudgmental. when it's over, she doesn't say anything, which is somehow worse than disgust. jesse is so wound up at this point that he flips out on her, insisting that this is her time to cut her losses. he's a criminal, a fucking murderer. he's evil. demi still doesnt react the way he wants and instead just waits until he's out of venom before reaching out to very gently smooth down his hair. petting the angry, upset dog instead of reflexively giving him away. "im sorry you've had to carry that around with you all this time," she says softly and that breaks him. because it Has been so hard carrying that around. demi asks a few more questions, clarifies a few more things, then tells him what she thinks. that she's seen how he acts now, how he treats people, how he treats himself. that she grew up with a father who sounds like the figures he alluded to in his story. that she is uncertain and insecure about a lot of things, but she's never been more sure that jesse is a good person and that she loves him irrespective of whatever came before. "im dangerous," he insists, a former fighting dog that would rather die than return to the ring. a hand on his own—"then why do i feel so safe with u?"

it's not perfect. there will always be things that jesse never shares with her and he will never totally forgive himself because as the one living person who knows the Extent of what went down, he feels that it's his responsibility to hold himself accountable for It for the rest of his life. demi's perception of him Does change, although not entirely in a negative way, and she is a little hurt that he expected her to bail so quickly and she can't lie and say that her mind doesn't occasionally drift to the fact that her husband has killed people. but at the end of the day, they're two broken people who were utterly convinced that their lives were over before they found each other. this is their second chance at life and they're never going to take that or each other for granted. whatever comes, they're going to face it together

hm idk if it makes you feel better but i remember nasa n other news outlets were talking about solar storms the exact same way about a year ago (i just remember telling my dad ab it cuz he works in aerospace n figured his company might’ve been discussing it) but nothing happened at all within the six month period that the news had been freaking out about LOL. i panicked a lot then too n my dad said it was just fear mongering lmfaoo 💀 (he’s kind of a cynic though haha) but yea i just bring this up because it’s not the first time this sort of news has been sensationalized

following any sort of space stuff can be scary for sure n it’s super easy to get lost in article rabbit holes that can really disrupt your quality of life in the present :( but i think there have been multiple instances of space phenomena that have been hyped up in media (even by a lot of reputable news outlets) that have not really affected daily life as much as it was thought to (like the never ending cycle of news about new asteroids, the whole aliens thing, etc)

i think it’s important to remember that the scientists that are actually behind the research are completely different entities than the people writing up articles about it online, so you always have to take the news with a grain of salt or maybe try to look into accounts from the actual researchers behind the findings (who, more often than not i’ve found, don’t even panic about their own research to the level of extent a lot of media ppl do online haha)

i’m not saying i don’t believe in the possibility of a solar storm or anything like that lol i just think there’s a lot of tendency in news these days to scare tf outta people for no reason

also correct me if im wrong but the largest danger of a solar storm would be disruption of radio & internet frequencies right? i thought they werent actually powerful enough to cause any sort of biological radiation harm ;0 loss of internet access would definitely be a weird thing to see and could put stress on more developed countries, but a lot of the world doesnt even have internet access to begin with so i’m not sure how much it will actually affect livelihood (i’m aware that it’d affect a LOT of things for sure, but i’m talking ab dangers like life or death situations, n i just cant imagine that being the case? but if you’ve looked into that more than i have n have more to share then lemme know i’m really curious)

from what i remember, my idea was that like, daniel has noticed max is acting...kinda weird? like he's retired in this au bc childhood trauma reasons, and when he offers to go to the paddock with the baby its a big deal (thanks @daniel-enchante for reminding me of this detail lol) and defo ooc for future max. because he hasnt been back since retiring. and also like, he's nervous with the baby, whereas future max is like incredibly confident and competent. and like, he's forgotten things, like when daniel makes a joke like 'haha it's like at christmas last year, right' or something, max takes too long to laugh bc he has no idea what happened, the last christmas he remembers is the one in 2015.

so like, daniel knows something is up. the line in the drabble about danile knowing because of sex was more how max percieved the situation, because he thinks he's been doing a better job of hiding than he has been lol.

Hi! its anon again :,D I'm thinking about J&A again... as much as I hope for more material for them I wonder what they can really do story-wise... I've been pretty sad about them from jins birthday up until the cover song annoucement and while im deliriously happy that they're getting a cover song but it feels like everything we get about them is just out of pity or small font last minuite stuff, idk even the cards they use in the promo art is turning 5 yrs old this year.. sometimes i just think to myself "what can they really do with them storywise?" they've done the whole revival event thing and while i feel like theres a million and one things I want to learn about them I still cant help but feel a bit doomed about the future of their characters

i totally get you. all of your concerns have been mine as well for a pretty long time! and it’s so true that most of the things done for them are out of pity lol (they only got shinsekai cards because happyele didnt want sora to be the only 3* card). ever since es2 era, genuine relevancy has been scarce but there were Some good things that came out of this era.

personally, i believe theres still so much they can explore with jin and akiomi as characters and their past. some might argue that we already know so much about them, but really. i feel like thats only in the case of jin. and even then, there’s a lot we don’t know about what happens behind the scenes (see: good-for-nothing son and bad teacher 2).

there’s potential, especially with akiomi. portrait has provided so much insight of how she operated within the modeling industry, her perception of the entertainment industry as a whole, and her initial goals. as well as giving explicit information about her family and showing how she took care of model trio. but as far as the intricacies of akiomi’s idol career, we only have pretty vague information about it. yes, we know that akiomi’s career flopped horribly due to super idol sagami jin’s reign. we know that she wanted to stand by his side, but was swept away by the new unit system the idol industry adapted to. akiomi worked substantially hard to be where jin was at, but realized hard work was not the only factor that took into account of success.

but i think there’s more meat on the bones! what can we say about akiomi’s unit? what kind of unit were they? how did they treat each other? can we speculate that akiomi’s cold behavior towards her previous unit due to not only just it getting in the way of grasping the super idol status, but also because the other members outcasted her? resented her? that’s what i’ve been curious about the most. she also mentions a “friend” she has in the beginning of guilty of perjury. it’s most likely a detail that should be overlooked since it’s minor, but i wonder about akiomi’s social life or if she even has one that she has to balance with work.

i mean. they could still come up with some other shit for jin and akiomi, i believe they can. but, i’m focusing more on what’s been lacking for a while.

one thing i would like to point out though, before i talk about the next part, is regarding jin & akiomi as a unit. officially, jin & akiomi is listed as an unofficial unit. and this is easily notable that they have never performed with each other. “but what about in rainbow?” within project saga, jin and akiomi performed within rain-bows and ba-barrier, not as jin & akiomi. there were no mentions of the unit. and even though rainbow stairway IS the song associated with that event, sure we can assume that they performed it during project saga, but we all know that it’s merely for happyele’s real life marketing purposes. speaking of that, yeah. jin & akiomi is meant for real life marketing purposes considering they are the only adult characters with singing voices. therefore, happyele wants to capitalize off of what little fans they have. very… rarely i guess. anyways

here’s what i could imagine them doing if they wanted to do an event with jin and akiomi. firstly, i believe it would be extremely ideal to put them in a tour event. there wouldnt be a song happyele would have to worry about. this would also clear up anything about jin and akiomi not being an official unit within the canon enstars storyline. and typically, bloomed card illustrations for events show the characters in their idol outfits performing on stage right? they dont Have to make the bloomed illustration a current era jin/akiomi card. they Could use their younger selves. for instance maybe an illustration of young idol akiomi performing alone but the unbloomed is her current self. just like how the guilty of perjury cards are set up. it’s honestly not impossible. and not all tour events have to have paid mv outfits (ie. obbligato). they Could bring up things about their past still and give more commentary of how the previous system operated and how the transition affected hard-working idols like akiomi in more detail.

this is very akiomi-centric since its objectively fair for her to receive more content in this era. (i’m jinP) but in terms of uncovering more of jin’s story i mean. same would apply. don’t have too many thoughts about it. mainly because jin already has a 5*.

but in terms of a song event. actually. even if we have all these plot holes such as jin&akiomi unit inconsistencies, anything could happen. a song event theoretically could happen whether it be their current selves or younger selves. how? SSVRS. it’s a virtual reality system that was created by switch i believe. they used it in the SS story, shinsekai with valkyrie. in which young jin and akiomi showed up. but, it was only their avatar models and it wasn’t jin and akiomi operating it themselves. natsume speculated that jin was the one that gave permission to some strangers to use his old super idol sagami jin model, but only under the condition that idol era akiomi would perform alongside his avatar as well. he concluded that jin wanted to see them perform as their younger selves since they were never able to and found solace through the VR system.

a pretty OP system within the story would be good news for us senseiPs, but happyele obviously isnt that great with implementing the senseis in anything, aren’t they? and this isnt even the last time they used SSVRS because the mv for believe 4 leaves takes place in SSVRS. so obviously, they are capable of making something like that for jin and akiomi. given maybe they want to make models for their younger selves or new outfits for their current 3d models.

there was one last thing that was the most important factor for me that left me delusional for so long and it’s the main reason why i still believe an event could happen. i’ve mentioned this many times on twitter (though i feel like i’ve mentioned these things in general a lot on that site), but it’s the lack of accessibility to jin and akiomi’s homescreen winter outfits. these outfits were officially shown in antique legend around the end of january 2021. normally, if they werent going to have cards to unlock these outfits, homescreen outfits like these would be unlockable through the ES coin shop easily. however, after almost 2 years, we still can’t unlock them. this is why i believe that eventually, they’ll get cards within an event so we can unlock them through their idol roads. a former delusion was also the fact that fusionic stars and surprising thanks official unit covers were typically released with new unit song album cds. and i assumed that jin and akiomi would eventually get one so their official mixes would come out (like the ensemble taisou album). but it’s been 2 years. i don’t know. but yeah. it’s these outfits that have been dictating it all for me.

“it could be the fact that happyele could’ve forgot!” sure, they forget the senseis sometimes. but you have to remember that when jin and akiomi’s old es1 teacher outfits were displayed in a story, they were immediately released in the ES coin shop. when the shinsekai cards came out, only their idol era outfits were unlockable. when portrait akiomi was released, only middle school akiomi outfit was unlockable. therefore, what makes the winter outfits an exception? we even have birthday editions for their winter outfits (bc they were born in winter) but not even the original ones? it’s strange. it drives me nuts. but its one of the shreds of hope i have for anything jin and akiomi related.

anyways, yeah. these are crazy mental gymnastics i go through on a daily. i am somehow hopeful for this year though. for sure, we are getting a new jin card so i’m looking forward to that. and i don’t think this will happen but i hope jin and akiomi get their own personalized outfits and mv for their new cover song. did you see that the song they’re covering is a gay pride song? i cried

acci - this one really sweet girl who was on my school trip thingy last year and we had to fly there by plane so i was really nervous.. she sat next to me on the second and she was sooo nice the airplane was divided into like. different sections for some reason and our row was the first one after one of these sections and at first i thought it didnt have a tray so i was like kinda sad but when i sat down she was like “we got the best seats!!” and i was like “we did?” and she was like yeah theres so much leg room!!! and there was and it turns out there were trays they were jjst in the chair for some reason.. she was such a sweetheart later in the flight it was at night so she was like “look out the window!” and the city lights looked so pretty and she asked me to take a picture on her phone for her.. she was so nice i hope shes doing okay  i never got her name :( or maybe i just forgot

THEYRE REALLY AWKWARD SOMETIMES i remember the first time we met was in the asb thing over the summer and the teacher/leader ?? of asb made us do icebreaker things and also we had to have nametags with like some information about us and i remember i had nonbinary on mine and i think literally the first interaction we had was them staring at my nametag for a long 10 seconds and then saying “nonbinary huh? i am too” IT WQS KINDA FUNNY anyways later on we were talking about like designing shirts for it because idk school merchandise.. and the teacher told us to maybe have like notes or something about what we could put on the shirts. the reason the others notice something is different tho is because they get jealous, SHOCKER. 

like mc glances at her phone once in a while and smiles and the rest of the four are like ???? because theyre all THERE none of them sent her a THING so whoever is texting her and making her smile it’s not any of them and of COURSE mc is allowed to have other friends but in the minds of every nxx boy theyre just like “...is there more competition? of course none of them ask her outright because thatd mean the mortifying ordeal of being known as a needy needy man but also they all sure get a little bit stressed over mc’s mystery friend

i wanna make the “how the boys find out” a bit more ridiculous though, you know how i work. like as mc and DAVIS continue being besties, DAVIS tries to help mc out in little ways. rlly tiny things, yknow, gives her notifications on when certain snacks go on discount, bumps her wifi speed a little bit better, etc. 

but everybody who has met mc has become protective of her one way or another. so one day mc is in danger (idk the specifics jus roll with it) and all the boys have no way to help, they cant get to her in time, and everybodys waiting for the worst when

sprinklers go off, alarms fucking blaring, hell maybe an unimportant satellite crashes from the sky right at the moment mc needs to get away from the danger

He’s going to be an obsessive and manipulative yandere.

He’s going to be observing you a lot, researching each and every little detail about you. The more he finds stuff about you, the more he’s going to be obsessed with you. He’ll have a lot information, even finding dirt on you that never existed in the first place; you know, for safety measures in case you're not as compliant as he wants you to be.

He’s not going to kidnap you. No. You’re going to fall into his lap willingly. He will spin a web of lies, make sure you are in certain situations with certain kind of people, play all the right tunes until you realise that the only place safe is by his side. But you don’t need to worry about getting hurt. No harm will ever come to you. They are just there to instil some fear in you. He’d have their heads if they ever touched a hair on your head. And you all do know that L has great fighting skills. 

The moment you come running into his arms, crying about how you just barely escaped some very bad people, he’s never going to let you go. You came to him for help. You need to listen to everything he says; follow his orders to a T, no matter how strange they sound. Yes (Y/n), I think you should just stay at home. Hmm, maybe not. They might’ve followed you there. I think its best you stay with me for a while until we find a more permanent solution.

Once you’re with him, he’s going to give you some sort of nickname or a fake name too, to protect you from Kira. He’s going to burn all previous records of your existence, saving you from both Kira and from anyone who could come looking for you. No one, not even Watari will know about you. Its for your own safety, (Y/n). Two birds with one stone really. 

He’s not going to lock you up somewhere. No. You’re allowed to leave anytime you want. But you wont. Not when he tells you about all the dangers out there, and the “reality” that you couldn’t make it on your own for a day without him, not when such awful, awful beings exist in the world. 

He doesn’t have to always be near you to know what you’re up to. He has cameras all over the place, even in bathrooms. Oh you’re not comfortable? But what if something happens and he’s not there to help.

He will make you become super paranoid, but hey at least you’re docile. And he doesn’t really complain the way you cling to him with fear, the way you cry into his chest and thank him for keeping you safe.

His two favourite activities are: watching you sleep and feeding you his desserts. He gets some sort of peace of mind watching you sleep. He just cant believe it that you’re right there. All that is sweet and pure and innocent lies in front of him, wrapped up in a blanket on his bed. He’ll be your saviour, your knight in shining in armour. 

And feeding you his sweets and desserts just makes him feel really good about himself, especially the way you lick your bottom lip and thumb to clean up the mess you make. He’s your provider and your protector. He will take it as an insult if you don’t finish it up though.

He loves it when you guys sleep together. He gets to see you up close, brushing your out of your face as he memorises all your features. You just look so vulnerable. Anything could happen to you and you wouldn’t be able defend yourself. But he promises himself that he’ll guard you with his life, pressing a kiss to your forehead.

I think that L will actually realise that he loves you way after his obsession began. He didn’t think he could be capable of the emotion honestly. But now you’re just making him feel all types of ways. 

Once all the pieces fall into place and you finally fall in love with him, life’s nice. You can do whatever you want, but you won’t because now you only want to please him, have his favour. You seek for his approval for everything. How could you not? He’s always right and he’s done so much for you. Its only right you pay the debt.

L isn’t delusional. He knows the way he’s doing things is wrong, but its the result that really matters. He’s doing all this to make you realise that he’s the one for you, that you are only safe when you are by his side, that you’re in love with him just the way he is.

anyway putting this here too also to that one person who replied on a post a million years ago to elaborate on the ocd headcanon and then i forgot and it was like a month later so i felt awkward about it. heres something i guess. 

also one thing i forgot to mention was like.. okay so ocd is all about wanting to be in control of ur life. when things are out of my control it freaks me out. i despise ambiguity and not having concrete answers to things. lol. so anyway. i find it so funny how much of a gossip hua cheng is. like he has his nose in everyones business its hilarious so anyway being a ghost king it is obvi helpful to know whats going on in the world. realms. whatever, but i think hua cheng definitely has these kind of control issues, like he HAS to know whats going on at all times with everyone. his butterflies are everywhere recording things, obviously theyre looking for xie lian but hes also just snooping. Because If He Doesnt Know Whats Going On Everywhere He Will Die. (Again) 

and like his intrusive thoughts are super disturbing. Like we all know how he was debating slaughtering those humans on mt tonglu but ended up not because xie lian would have saved them. obviously that was already a stressful unusual situation but like i dont think that kind of thing gets any better even when hes just like. chilling. he gets visions of himself burning ghost city to the ground or attacking humans or destroying his own ashes or otherwise causing harm to others, like yin yu. like he pretends he doesnt care about yin yu and he xuan and stuff but i do think hes fond of them, but he tries to keep his distance because 1) hes dumb and 2) he gets really freaked out by these violent thoughts he has about them. the worst is, when he finally meets xie lian again he gets these thoughts about him too and it takes literally everything he has not to like. throw himself into a volcano, or something. 

his hoarding im a little ? about because i dont exactly remember the details of it but i do know he has a ridiculous amount of like trinkets and weapons and magical items and stuff in paradise manor, but i also know he doesnt really care if they get destroyed or not, which is kind of strange but i do what i want and im making him a hoarder bc im a hoarder and i love projecting. though now that i think about it. like if i have a big pile of something that i dont want to get rid of, but someone else does it for me without asking or something happens to it like yeah i get angry but sometimes i also just get kind of relieved........... idk. will have to think about this more

about not wanting things to get dirty. he was very poor and dirty as a child so now he has the connection of being dirty = being miserable, and this is taken to the extreme when he becomes a supreme bc now hes able to be clean and any dirt or blood on him or something/someone he cares about (’cant let you down the ground is dirty’; shielding the flower, etc) is like. an attack on this power he has now ? if that makes sense. idk how to explain....... 

the body dysmorphia and obsession with xie lian and making sure everything is orderly and perfect in the temple is self explanatory ig also im getting hungry so i dont want to write anymore. also like i mean idk if any of this is coherent anyway bc i cant write but ya

lots n lots of info about shapeshifter powers and janus below the cut!! i. may have gone a little overboard in how long this answer is oops bc i got very excited and have a ton of thoughts about this topic lol. cw for janus having just. so many identity crises and unhealthy habits related to those crises. also nondetailed discussion of menstrual cycles and shapeshifter-specific birth control.

okay so!!!! janus got their powers when they were 10 years old. so she did have an original body/appearance that she just had all the time for those first ten years. however, giving a ten year old the ability to look literally however they want? that ten year old is going to Use that ability So Much. janus kind of instantly abandoned his original appearance, and after a little bit he stopped shifting back to it altogether. in this universe, shapeshifters do not have a “default” appearance that they would shift into when asleep/unconscious/otherwise unable to consciously access their powers. they just stick with the most recent look in most of those cases (they can unconsciously shift in their sleep tho) (finding this out Was kind of disorienting for remus the first couple of times he stayed at janus’s overnight lol, but he adjusted actually pretty quickly).

so, because there’s no shifting-back-to-default feature for these powers, the body that janus spent his first ten years in? she has no idea what that body would look like today. they don’t know what puberty would have done to it. they literally can’t go back to their “original” look anymore because it doesn’t exist. sure, she can approximate what she looked like as a ten year old just pre-powers, but he can’t make that ten year old body age up to his current age, because it never got to do that on its own, so they don’t know how it “should” look. identity crises galore obviously lol. not every shapeshifter has this experience, janus is a particularly extreme example of the ways that these powers can impact a person. many shifters do spend a lot of time in their original look as they grow up, and don’t “lose” it the way janus did. but it’s not at all unheard of for experiences like janus’s to happen. especially if they grow up in an area where there are no other shapeshifters around to mentor them; it’s not a super common power, so this was the case for janus—there are no other shapeshifters at all nearby to them and she kind of just had to figure it out on his own. superschool helped to a degree, but none of the teachers were super familiar with shapeshifters, so they did not have the expertise necessary to give janus a very detailed in-depth education on their powers and instead opted for a more general overview. specifically the main oversight was that they focused more on teaching janus the technical aspects of using their powers, and not at all on the emotional and mental impact of those powers on them.

janus has gone through several “default” appearances throughout their life. he abandoned her original pre-powers look as soon as they got powers, like i said, and for a few years after that they didn’t really have any one default look as they experimented with their powers. as he hit high school and started having crushes, they realized that they are pretty much exclusively attracted to men, and bc of his lack of exposure to queer stuff and just the fact that there just were a lot more straight guys than queer ones at their school, he started taking on much more fem appearances most of the time, instead of the wide variety of appearances he’d had before that. they actually, as they started dating different guys, started to let their boyfriends dictate their default appearance to match the boyfriends’ own preferences and ideals. this obviously was horrifically unhealthy for janus and eroded a lot of their sense of self (which had already been a problem as they started to “lose” their original appearance, but this just compounded that). again, this human can fit so many identity crises inside themself. and she was much too young to understand what she was doing, and she had nobody in her life who knew enough about the common pitfalls for shapeshifters to guide her through that. :)

then after patton was born, there was another period of a few years where janus didn’t really have one default look and played around with a lot of things. he also started figuring out gender stuff and experimented with that too. before patton, they had been using he/she pronouns, one or the other, based on the appearance of the body they were in, bc they didn’t know there were other options; after patton, logan was basically like “hey. can i interest you in some Gender” lol and janus was like “OOOOH WAIT THATS ME” and started using both he and she pronouns all the time as well as adding they pronouns into the mix.

eventually she slowly started putting together lots of little things they’d figured out they liked, and that wound up turning into his current default body, the one in the character sketches. they like smaller sized bodies because it makes him feel like they have more flexibility if they need to shift suddenly (which is. not actually accurate, her powers are the same no matter what size her body is, but it’s more about like the emotional vibe—he feels like he’s “using less” of his power, and feel that that makes it easier to change quickly). she has a couple other secondary default bodies for specific situations—there’s a tall masc body that looks Extremely much like patton and also looks a few years older than janus actually is, that she uses when they feel nervous about people judging them for being patton’s parent (mainly for picking patton up from school); there’s also a very fem body that he’s developed more recently, for when he feels nervous about being seen being a couple with remus and want to minimize the risk of experienceing queerphobia. (generally, the more comfortable janus feels in an environment, the less they are interested in looking cis, and the more unsafe they feel, the closer they try to approximate cisness in their appearance. both of their secondary bodies are for when they feel unsafe.) and then also obviously they shift to other forms as needed for work or for fun. but they have that one default form rn, and those couple of secondary ones that they use pretty regularly.

(back to the thing abt letting her boyfriends decide how they look, he tried to get remus to do that when they started dating, and remus refused point blank and was basically like “my opinion has 0 place here. like, if it makes you feel more secure, i always think you look good, but that is the extent of the input i am comfortable giving you, im not going to tell you to change how you look. ever.” have i mentioned i love dukeceit. i love them so much. they’re so good.)

and then eventually later in the fic (but not for a long while yet) something will happen that causes janus to construct a new default appearance. but that’s much later. and that’s all i’m going to say about that for now. :)

wrt to the really inconvenient limitations on shapeshifter powers: there are 3 main ones. 1 is if their body starts its period, they can’t turn it off. they can still shift, it’s just limited somewhat. 2 is that if they become pregnant, they can’t shift at all until either postpartum is over or the pregnancy is otherwise ended. i think basically the reason why is bc it provides a more stable environment for the fetus to devlop in. and 3 is much more of a problem for bodies without uteruses (although it can occasionally affect bodies with uteruses) (idk why, just bc i said so lol). so, shapeshifters can instantly heal themselves up to a certain level by just. regenerating cells where the injury is (that’s not thing 3, it’s just relevant background for it, hang on). there are limits to it, but it can be done. but it’s a lot harder to do, and the limits are a lot easier to hit, in bodies without uteruses. so if a shifter gets injured badly enough, they can functionally lose their powers until they have recovered to a certain level. and that is much more frequent of a problem, with a much longer recovery period needed, for bodies without uteruses.

basically i don’t have super solid reasons for why any of these limitations exist, i just felt like making janus’s life difficult lol and also putting specific annoying limitations on their power, so these are just things that kind of intuitively made sense to me as possible limitations to shapeshifting but idk what the “reason” for most of them is supposed to be.

now, for more about janus specifically:

janus has experienced exactly one (1) period in their life when he was like 13-14 or so, and then immediately was like “this is the most horrible thing ever, i am never doing that again” because mood, and then figured out how to never do it again. how she did that: shapeshifting relies on the intent of the shapeshifter. so the things that a shifter intends to change about their body will change, and anything they don’t have a specific intent for will just kind of randomly do something that matches the rest of the appearance they’ve chosen. so, janus had that one period bc he didn’t know much about periods beforehand and didn’t ever have any specific intent for his menstrual cycle or anything like that when shapeshifting. (side note for context for the next bit: “hitting puberty” is harder to define for shapeshifters bc the age it starts at varies from body to body, so they can go back and forth through different stages of puberty for a year or two, but it does happen; it’s difficult for children to change the age their bodies are—the older a shapeshifter is, the easier it gets and the wider a range of ages they can access.) so once janus hit puberty, when he had bodies with uteruses, it would just be at a random place in its cycle, bc she never knew to care about that. so then after he had that one period by chance, she started like being like “okay so not that” while shapeshifting. and that actually did work pretty reliably for them, and they made sure to shift frequently enough that they never got through a full menstrual cycle in one body. this unfortunately did probably accidentally contribute to him getting pregnant at 15, bc it made them be at a much higher risk of pregnancy all the time, and they didn’t realize that. (oh also fun fact about that, the boyfriend she was with at the time was pretty nasty about him deciding to keep the pregnancy, so they dumped him. they do not consider him to be patton’s father, bc they have enough gender on their own that they are both patton’s dad and his mom <3)

and then after being pregnant, he was like “hm. im glad i did that but also it was not fun. i want to figure out a way for that Also to never happen again.” and like. he didn’t want to just give up using bodies that have uteruses. they like all the things they can do with their powers and like wearing all different kinds of bodies frequently. so she worked with logan to figure out how she could reliably eliminate 1) periods and 2) risk of pregnancy, while still maintaining all the flexibility they wanted from their powers. they did try just regular old birth control but found out (through sciencey tests idk) that if janus shifts, it usually stops working and has to be redone for every new body. which is not very practical. so then they essentially just had janus try a bunch of different things while shifting, and did more sciencey tests each time to see what worked best, until eventually janus figured out what he needed to intend for their body while shifting into bodies with uteruses. they now have an extremely fine-tuned level of control over their bodies’ menstrual cycles and fertility levels, and are in fact far more talented in this area than the average shifter. most shapeshifters just kind of learn to deal with the occasional inconvenient period, because it is hard to get the level of specificity and control that janus has developed. janus is just extremely stubborn and unwilling to compromise.

i also have figured out a lot of different random rules about janus’s powers, in terms of what she can do, and how much, and what the limits are to each different thing she can do. they can control their size, with the upper and lower limits both being more extreme than the size of any adult human body (i forget what the exact limits i decided are tho); he can control the density of his body, though the range available to them is a lot smaller than the range of sizes available to them; they can grow wings, but they don’t, because they have the flying superpower already and wings take a lot of energy to maintain and use; she can grow gills, feathers, scales, spines, fins, tails, extra limbs, wall-climbing abilities, etc etc etc sorts of animal traits; she can take on non-human proportions if they want to, for instance if they want to get even taller and are using their whole available body mass already, although they can only maintain this for a short time (how long depends on how extremely they’ve warped the proportions); he kind of could make himself look like an animal that fit all the other limits on his powers, but it’s hard to do and hard to maintain; she can grow extra bones and joints, as long as there’s at least an inch or so between each joint. i think there’s a handful more things i’ve written down somewhere but i don’t remember them off the top of my head. also they can have trans bodies, including ones that have had hrt or surgeries, if they want to. which sometimes they do bc transness is great.

also, pretty much unrelated, but janus carries a pair of knives as their super weapon. not for any reason related to his powers or their superhero theme. just bc she has a lot of pent up anger all the time and stabbing things helps. usually they do not stab people tho because logan disapproves of that. 

i have definitely thought a lot harder about janus’s powers than most of the other established powers in this universe 😂 possibly for gender reasons of “wow i wish i could do that.” idk. but i do have a fairly solid understanding of the powers that have been mentioned so far.
