I love when people complain about dangerous drivers because... there are some dangerous drivers out there! However, the solution isn't, like, a surveillance state. The solution can be found (in part) in actually investing in free public transportation and a variety of transportation. The fact that we often live in a very hostile world for pedestrians and non-motorists is a travesty, and helps contribute to the mess that is driving.
You don't need to ban certain people from being able to drive. You need to pressure your local and state governments to actually invest in trains, buses, trams, taxis, public bicycles, well-maintained sidewalks and trails, and whatever may be best for your community. Banning certain people from driving isn't going to effectively keep drivers safe.

I have just booked a 14 day LotR tour in New Zealand for 2026!
Ever since I watched Fellowship of the Ring in the cinema in 2001, I have been wanting to go to New Zealand and visit the filming locations. This is a dream come true for me. I have been waiting 25 years for this moment and I'm honestly feeling a little dazed right now because it hasn't truly sunken in yet that I'm finally going on this adventure - and with a very good friend, too!
I'm so excited that I'm grinning from ear to ear and can't stop smiling!

i've started a new save file in pla for the purpose of compiling all the minor npc names and dialogue from the major settlements, and noting changes over time, because i have a normal amount of interest in pla trivia and minutia, and one thing that immediately jumped out to me that i didn't notice in previous go-rounds b/c i probably wasn't paying too much attention:
the protagonist's room has visibly been previously occupied.
even upon your first arrival, there are strings of veggies and two pairs of sandals hung up around the hearth. there's a survey tips notebook that looks to have been haphazardly thrown onto the end table. mismatched dishware and bottles stacked up on the shelves. a shirt hanging up on the wall you can't wear. most striking to me are those two glass jars full of pretty rocks that have been left on the windowsill. investigating them gets the comment that "someone" must have found them and collected them, "...but they're just plain old stones."
it's honestly always been sort of weird to me that in jubilife, this developing town where everyone's constantly commenting on how scarce resources are and how tough life is, there was just this entire spare lodging available complete with furniture and food and they were all fine with letting some random survey recruit use it as their solo personal quarters. but if that room was recently deserted, that might actually be a pretty good explanation. leaving just the one question,
whose was it, and what happened to them?

CHAPTER NINETEEN ; 2/3
TRANSCRIPT:
magdalena: Ahem.
antoin: Empress Magdalena, this may be your castle, but you have crossed yet another line by barging in here—
m: He is awake.
a: ...How?
celeste: She is his, and he is hers. The Seam has spoken. Do discuss the politics after I have left.
[incoherent arguments fill the room]
m: In light of recent events, I am feeling rather forgiving and will overlook the fact that multiple Eden citizens have trespassed onto my land this morning.
[everyone goes silent]
m: Since the entire delegation seems to be here, I ask that Emperor Antoin and his people meet with my council and I in an hour.
a: I am afraid that circumstances do not permit—
m: Should I not be so forgiving? Perhaps you and your men would like to fulfill the punishment that the treaty permits, even in its last days?
sheridan: We will be there, your majesty.
m: Good. Our empires depend on it.

crying laughing @ this edition of le fantôme de l'opéra that my dad got me for christmas it's just. i don't know how to describe it. every page is a scan of a page of the 1926 edition, with like 1-2 inches of margin around it??? and the letters are so small and the scan is not of very great quality so it's kind of hard to see the words?? interspersed with scans of pictures but some of them are upside down??? there's one page where the scan didn't really work in the upper left corner so it's just totally black???
the back of the book says
(my rough translation: This publication is in line with a policy instituted in conjunction with the BNF (National Library of France) for the conservation of important works of French literature. In service of this goal, Hachette Livre and the BNF are offering a catalogue of unavailable titles digitized by the BNF which Hachette Livre will print upon request.)
so like this is on purpose but i have so many questions. first of all why the margins. okay i guess that is my most important question. why not just make the book correspond to the size of the pages in the original? or, if the size of the book is fixed, you could at least size up the images to use as much of that wasted space as possible, no?
i want to say how ridiculous this is and how there's no market for it but there clearly is one because i asked my dad to get it for me! i'm the market!! i told him to buy this edition because it was the only french-language print edition i could find to buy in the us for less than $50 (outside of amazon because fuck amazon). but like, why is that the case? the full text of this book, in plain text which could easily and legibly be printed, is available for free on the internet. why isn't there some publisher who's just printing that out and binding it? seems easier to do than printing scans. not to mention a lot easier to read!!
(to see what i'm talking about, go to the hachette BNF webpage for this book and click on feuilleter to download a sample of the pages in PDF)

ORGANIC & FRESH FORTUNES?!
Leave me a question to be answered through divination (for free).
INSTRUCTIONS AND HOUSEKEEPING BELOW
I prefer that you use the ask feature, unless you feel uncomfortable because your topic is too personal, in which case, feel free to message me instead.
You can be anonymous and as vague or specific as you want (which might reflect on the answer) and request a simpler or more complex reading.
Even though I'll choose the deck (from Lenormand, Oracle, Tarot, and Archetypes) depending on which suits your question better, tell me if you have a preference or are curious about one, and I'll be sure to take that into account.
You may also opt for bibliomancy (with Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There) and/or shufflemancy (using my Spotify library), complementary to the cartomancy, or without it.
This is a way for me to practice my divinatory skills. Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of free time, and the readings do take a while to come out — so keep that in mind :]
* No medical, legal or financial advice.
** Leave some kind of ID. (Astrology stuff works but is not necessary; I don't study it.)
*** Content warnings are very appreciated.
About how I read:
I believe that divination is not just getting to know a future set in stone, but that it can be a way to make sense of what feels bigger than us, and even learn how to play with it.
Your reading won't say “this is definitely going to happen to you”; it'll be more along the lines of understanding your circumstances and what will most probably happen if you keep on that path, or choose another one, and how to go about it. It's all about freewill and helping get some perspective and the power to accept or change it.
With that said, I will also never tell you that “you control your reality 100%”, “everything in your life is manifested by your thoughts”, or similar bullshit. We don't live in a perfect world with a fair socioeconomical system where everyone has the same opportunities, and such harmful and ableist ideas are not welcome in this space.
[If you want to know more about these or other aspects of my belief system, how I read, my methods etc: I'm open to talking/posting about it, and I plan on it when I have the time.]
Readings are tagged OMEN DEAL.
Everything else is under #NOT AN OMEN.
The featured tags include the types of divination too.
The avatar, header, and image on this post are paintings by Elioth Gruner, respectfully called Spring Frost, Morning Light and Summer Morning.
