#if she were home she'd probably be mad that i often leave them open for 5-10 minutes being locking them
Text
Mom getting lazy? Telling me to lock the door behind her? When she often just leaves it unlocked without saying anything? And sometimes hanging open??
No. You get ONE lock. The one I can easily lock. The gate can fuck off.
Though it's all locked up now because Skye came home and locked it up.

It's been a strange couple of days. The weirdness began when Daryl's supervisor (a visionary millennial) was sick of him refusing to take any paid time off, and told him in no uncertain terms to use at least five of his leaves before they became void by the next fiscal year. She'd smiled as she said it, but Daryl saw the threat hidden in her eyes, and frankly he wasn't in the mood to get his nuts clamped by the fiery claws of mental wellness lectures.
So, for the first time since he'd gone looking for work to begin with, Daryl prepared for a two-day trip out to the mountains. The plan was to go up on Thursday, reach the peak by sundown, and then return to the foot of the mountain by Friday evening. For all intents and purposes, it was a trip he'd taken a million times before.
Then, by the sheer force of dumb luck, Melissa caught him at the store buying supplies (and he'd felt almost shy speaking to her, a part of him bewildered that she thought he was interesting to talk to even outside his home). They spoke, as they often did whenever Melissa caught him in the wild, and after she expressed enough interest in his idea of recreation, he'd opened his big mouth and said--
I could take you.
The mad woman that she was, Melissa smiled wide and said she could trade shifts with Kara to make it to this trip, if that wouldn't be too much of a bother.
Naturally, Daryl's pace and plans changed almost immediately. A one night trip became a two night trip because he'd be taking the scenic route. He brought more water just in case Melissa didn't enjoy drinking from freshwater sources like he did. He even packed vegetables and seasonings because he didn't want to ruin her experience by serving bland food. Merle didn't question his preparations beyond ribbing him about having hobbies like he always did, but that was probably for the best; if he found out his little brother was going on a camping trip with his nurse, Merle would never let him live it down.
On their way up, Daryl talks more than he's ever talked before. He points plants out, and flowers, and signs of animals that help him track where to find food or shelter or water. He asks her to stop and listen here and there, then tells her what bird is flying based on the sound of its wings. Similarly, he notes which creatures were probably rustling off in the bushes, and with a finger to his lips guides her until they can see said wildlife relaxing in their natural habitats. Daryl gives her his knife and teaches her about marks in trees so they can find their way back home; he even shows her the ones he's made over the long, long years he's lived here.
Their tent is put up a convenient distance from a stream two hours away from the top; after all, the field trip killed any chances they had of making it to the peak by sundown. Daryl cooks them rabbit stew (he'd had the good sense to gut and clean it as she put up the tent). feels out of his depth when they talk over dinner, and then kills the fire as soon as everything is stored away properly in a thermal bag (he'll turn the stew into pie tomorrow for lunch). Only then does he crawl into his tent, and only then does it occur to him that it isn't very big at all.
Though the tent allegedly fits two people, he's never actually had to share it with another person before. So as Daryl sets up his sleeping bag, he shouldn't be surprised when he feels a warm weight land on his shoulder. Yet the nape of his neck flares with a mild heat all the same.
"...Melissa?"
He gets a tired noise in response.
"You know you gotta move."
“Moving…? No, I’m good, thanks.” ( x )
And he knows he should be annoyed. If it were anyone else in the world saying such a thing to him, he would be annoyed.
But... it's been a bizarre couple of hours, so all Daryl does is snort and duck his head. Maybe he'd pushed her too hard. Maybe she was tired all this time but didn't have the heart to tell him. Or... maybe the contact isn't the end of the world.
So one hand comes up to awkwardly pat the top of her head. "That so."
His voice is quiet when he speaks. Not that it isn't usually quiet-- Daryl has a permanent growl stuck in his throat, he's been told-- but it's soft in a way it almost never is. But only Melissa would be so ridiculous as to actually use him as a pillow.
"Mountain got you beat just like that?"

Taking the milkshake glasses off the counter and making sure the space was throughly wiped down and sanitized, San's eyes looked up when the familiar midnight blue Nissan sedan, whose model he'd never given a damn to memorize, parked in front of the restaurant, signaling the arrival of the person working the closing shift that day. His heart practically somersaulted when he caught glimpse of the soft, silky [insert color] hair stepping out of the vehicle, the owner such pretty hair owning an equally beautiful face. While his heart pounded, his stomach turned sick when he saw the driver come out as well, going over to where she was, whispering a goodbye in her ear. To anyone passing by, it'd look like a normal couple, a boyfriend bringing his girlfriend to work and giving her a kiss, no doubt promising to pick her up later.
But San knew better.
His eyes always caught on to the way she stepped back slightly, her arm folding across her body when his hand reached out to caress it, his fingers no doubt gripping down harshly on her skin. She didn't kiss him back, she just allowed him to place his lips momentarily on hers before patting her cheek lightly with his palm and soon going back to his vehicle and driving away. He watched her take a deep breath before she felt ready to go inside and start her shift.
"Hey Y/N!" He did his usual friendly and warm way of greeting her, his smiling eyes and dimples putting a genuine smile on her own somber countenance.
"Hi San. How's it been?" She inquired as she punched her number in.
Shrugging his shoulders, he sighed.
"Same as almost every Wednesday. Dead, boring and mostly the regulars or just travelers."
She shook her head, already mentalizing herself that it'd be another day spent cleaning what's already clean and over stocking the merchant just to pass time. She went inside the office to put on her uniform shirt and apron. San in no way ever peeked in to see her cause he was a pervert, he respected her and would never allow himself to think of any inappropriate scenarios involving her. However, he would always sneak a tiny glance every now and then for one particular reason. Tilting his head slightly so he could see through the tiny cracked door, he watched her take off her denim jacket and felt his grip tighten on the glass cup he was currently drying when he spotted some purple blotches on her bicep. He immediately looked away as he did not want to get angry in front of her. He hastily put the cup back in the shelf under the counter, throwing the rag onto the marble counter in a rather aggressive manner.
"Ok San, tell me what needs to be finished."
Coming out in full uniform and hair held up with her usual choice of a colored scrunchie, this day choosing yellow, Y/N looked at her coworker and waited for him to give her a task.
"Nothing really except wait on customers. I already stocked the fridge and pulled out the stuff needed from the freezer."
He was always doing that, doing not only his side workload but also hers, which more often than not had her pouting at him.
"So I'll just be bored to death?" She huffed.
Chuckling, San stepped closer to her, making sure to keep an elbow distance from her, knowing she tended to get apprehensive when someone came to close to her than she was comfortable with.
"Not really. There's plenty of things to amuse yourself with. Besides.......maybe now you won't hurt yourself so much from lifting heavy objects..."
His tone lowered involuntarily at that last part. He knew very well the bruises weren't cause she'd accidentally hit herself on the railings in the back because she lost her balance carrying stuff in and out of the freezer. She herself tensed up a little at his words.
"Oh right......heh.....clumsy me right?" She tried to plaster an unfazed smile on her face, only succeeding about halfway.
Unable to control his movements, San's hand reached out to tuck some of the hair slipping out of her ponytail behind her ear. It hurt him to no end when she flinched slightly at his movement, he could feel her tensing up when his fingers made contact with her temple. As he squinted his eyes, he could make out the uneven patch of concealer and powder on the area close to her hairline, a tiny hue of reddish purple peeking slightly through. She relaxed when he finally retreated his hand.
"Just try to be careful and take care of yourself. I don't like seeing you get hurt."
She probably didn't know, or maybe she did, he was painfully obvious when it came to her, that he meant what he said in more ways than one.
"You too....see you San."
Once more, he held himself back from blurting out everything that was kept in his chest, instead opting for giving her a farewell and going out to the parking lot to get inside his red 1989 Ford f150 and drive over to his friend's house, the bunch of them waiting for him to complete his shift and come over to their place.
ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.
"Aish seriously San, just forget about her. Plenty of fish in the sea." One of the pair of giants told him as he chugged back the remnants in his bottle.
"And you have a lot of fish waiting for you to reel in your rod so they can bite right in." His friend sitting next to him wiggled his eyebrows at him.
"Stop you guys." San pushed the blonde away.
"Mingi and Wooyoung are right though San. You have girls and guys lined up all willing to drop their pants for you at anytime. Lucky bastard." Yunho, the other half of the giant squad chuckled lowly.
"I don't want any of them though... you guys don't understand." San looked down at the floor.
The other blonde haired male in the room, Yeosang, rolled his eyes at him, unable to understand his infatuation for the girl.
"You've been pining for her since high school. When are you going to let her go? She chose and still chooses to this day Lee Taeyong."
Slamming his fist on the table, San angrily looked at him.
"Don't fucking mention that asshole's name near me!"
Everyone grew quiet, the members who were bordering on getting tipsy suddenly sobering completely up as if there was absolutely no drop of alcohol in their system. San was usually a very friendly and sweet person, but he was also sensitive and emotional, and lately he'd manifest it through anger and rage, and it was truly terrifying to them. But they knew he had reasons for lashing out like that. They knew his hatred for Taeyong, not just for being able to score the girl he'd been in love with for ages, San would have stayed content and wholeheartedly happy had she'd been loved and cared for like she deserved to be. But instead, he had to watch as she was constantly belittled and sometimes shoved hardly into the ground, landing her scraped knees or bruised palms. He could only imagine what went on behind closed doors.
"San......you have to accept reality, all of us do whether we like it or not. Her friends aren't blind to what's happening to her. Teacher's at university aren't either, they've all tried approaching her about it.....she won't listen to anyone." Yunho decided to finally say what everyone was thinking.
"She doesn't deserve it! It's toxic and sick!" He cried out in desperation.
"But ultimately it's her choice........ you can't force her to get help or leave if she doesn't want to. She's been with him for years."
Unwilling to hear anymore, San quickly picked up his leather jacket and stormed out the house. He drove the streets like a mad man, his fist hitting the steering wheel every time he stopped at a red light. He would have continued his angry drive back to his place had he not spotted an all too familiar denim jacket walking on the road. Slowing down the truck, he pulled closer to the right side and stopped right in front of the figure trembling in the cold night air.
"Y/N?" He rolled down his window so she wouldn't be startled by some stranger suddenly pulling up next to her.
"Oh! Hey San!" She said through chattering teeth.
"You're walking home all alone?" He could not believe this.
"Uh....yeah! My boyfriend got caught up at work....didn't want to bother him so I'm walking home...it's not that far!" She tried to sound reassuring, but he could see right through her.
"You want a ride?" He offered.
She hesitated for a moment, wondering if it'd be a good idea or not.
"Hey it's ok. I'm not going to kidnap you or anything. I'll just drive you straight home. We don't even have to talk if you don't want. Just you, me and some old jams playing on the radio all right?"
Unable to resist that dimple smile that always made her feel fuzzy inside, she allowed him to open the door for her from the inside. After giving him her address, she found he stayed true to his word and just drove in silence the entire time. She was kinda thankful for it. She was tired after her shift, exhausted from walking and from how late it was, and more than anything, she felt like she was going to spill tears any minute if she even got out a single word. She felt worn out, her head resting on the window, eyes opening and closing as tiredness began to overtake her. She only awoke when she felt a light hand caress her cheek. In other circumstances, she would have immediately swatted the hand away and pushed the face near her own as far away as possible. But she didn't do that, she felt strangely safe and protected by the male next to her as he brushed some hair off her face.
"We're here. Safe and sound just like I promised."
Safe.........
For some reason she felt anything but safe as she looked at the house in front of her.
"Thanks San." She smiled weakly at him as she began taking off her seat belt.
"Call me if you ever need a ride. I mean it. I don't want you catching a cold...or-or worse..." He admitted.
"Thank you, really. Good night. I'll see you tomorrow."
She took slow steps to the front door, San didn't drive away until he confirmed she was inside. With a heavy heart, he drove away back to his place, unaware that the girl he dropped off was watching through the peephole his departure, still staying there moments after he had disappeared from sight. She sighed despondently as she dropped her bag onto the floor, slumping her body onto the couch as it was useless to try to go sleep in the bedroom given the pornographic moans and thumping noises coming from inside it. Wouldn't be the first or last time she came home to such sounds. She simply curled up into a fetus position, falling asleep in the usual way:
Tears falling out of the corners of her eyes.
ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.
"What do you mean she's not coming?"
San nervously gulped as his boss told him Y/N's boyfriend called to say she had a little accident and couldn't go in that day. He knew it was bullshit and he was going to find out what really happened. After going to classes the next day, he actively searched around campus for any signs of her or Taeyong. After asking around, a girl motioned to the football field, saying that's where they'd often go to at times. San squinted his eyes as he looked all over for them, finally spotting them near the bleachers. His fist tightened as he watched Taeyong once again put his filthy hands on Y/N, shoving her to the ground, making her land face first, her palms outstretched and scraping against the grass under her. He watched as Taeyong simply walked away, leaving her there, not caring about if she was seriously injured or not. Unable to hide any longer, San sauntered over to her, his arms picking her up from the ground.
"Y/N it's me!"
He didn't mean to shout at her, but having her scream and cover her head protectively gave him no other option. He nearly began crying himself when she lifted her head, her eyes full of fear and panic.
"Oh! It's you San! Sorry for that!"
As she stood up, she began dusting the dirt off, ignoring the throbbing pain in her ankle. Faking a smile, she giggled nervously.
"Clumsy me again, tripping on some-"
"Y/N stop lying to yourself. I saw everything."
Her face darkened at his words, her eyes becoming glued to the floor as she avoided his gaze like she did the others. She hated seeing their pitiful stares and shameful eyes, she believed San probably had the same look as well. She couldn't be more wrong as his eyes just looked at her in despair and agony.
"Why? Why do you put up with it? Why do you stay with him? Why do you torture yourself like this?.....
Why do you love him?"
He asked that last question more to himself than her. Y/N crossed her right arm over her chest, her hand clutching her left bicep as she gently massaged the muscle there. San knew it was the same bruised arm he had seen a few days ago, it was probably even more battered up than the last time he saw it.
"I can't......I don't know....."
Seeing her struggling to form words, San opted for gently hovering his hands around her, maneuvering and ushering her to sit on the bleachers without ever laying a single finger on her. Opening his backpack, he took out the mini first aid kit his older friend, Seonghwa, had given him, actually deciding to put it to use for once.
"I'm going to clean these scrapes ok?"
He looked at her and waited til she gave him permission to touch her. She did not flinch away at all when he began wiping off the dirt and blood accumulated on her knee or hands, only momentarily when he applied the disinfectant spray on her wounds.
"Sorry." He apologized.
"It's fine.......I'm used to hurting...." She finally admitted.
He wanted to speak up again, but found it hard to find the right words. He focused on applying ointment on her wounds and bandaging them up nicely.
"How long has he pushed you around?" He needed to know.
"Started 3 months after we became official.....but even before that, he'd often tease me and what not........ it doesn't hurt ....." She lied once more.
"The Y/N I knew never lied even to save her life. Sad how someone like him managed to change that." He finished wrapping the gauze around her knee.
"I haven't changed at-"
"Yes you have." He interrupted once again.
"The Y/N from then was a cheerful, happy ray of sunshine known for her bubbly personality and kindness to others. She loved going out with friends and hated staying indoors for too long. She was always honest and ready to help anyone in need, especially cute abandoned animals, she was a real softie for them."
She chuckled softly at his words, not denying any of it.
"I still am soft for them." She corrected him.
"But you're no longer happy. You're sad, somber and being in pain all because of an asshole who doesn't deserve you.......he doesn't deserve your love."
Although she heard him and wanted to believe his words, her mind blocked out such reasoning.
"But he does love me.......he swears it....every time it happens, he apologizes and promises-"
"It's all lies Y/N! He doesn't love you! If he loved you he wouldn't hurt you physically and emotionally. He wouldn't be the reason why you're only a shell of the person you used to be. He doesn't love you and he'll never love you..."
She let his words sink, trying to digest what he was saying.
"I know because I've loved you for so long and I'd never even think about putting you through half of what he has."
She whipped her head up at his words, seeing the earnest and emotion in his eyes as he finally confessed what was in his heart.
"San......" She was left speechless.
He teared up, scoffing at himself as a dry smile formed on his face.
"You have no idea how much it hurts seeing you be in pain and not able to do anything about it. Having you flinch at my touch when all I want is to comfort and hold you."
Without thinking, he cupped her cheeks, thumbs wiping away the tears that began falling down her eyes.
"You can't keep doing this to yourself Y/N. You can't spend the rest of your life living in fear and chained to someone who just wants to make you suffer. You can't allow someone to take away your joy and peace of mind. You shouldn't be afraid to be free and enjoy life. You deserve to be happy and loved."
He used his last bit of self control he had and stopped himself when he leaned his face too close to hers, his nose brushing against hers, expecting her to shiver away from his touch, but instead she seemed to wait for his next move. Knowing he'd never forgive himself for it, he pulled back, leaving her disappointed and himself in agony.
"Please take care..."
Taking off his leather jacket, he placed it on her back, fanning out the sleeves so it'd cover her shoulders. Then he turned around and began walking away from her, shoulders slumped down and heart aching to go back and just take her away for good. But he resolved himself not to. Not until she specifically asked him to.
When Y/N finally got back to her place, Taeyong wasn't there. He was probably spending the night at one of his side chick's place, no doubt getting buzzed and high out of his mind. Her soft bed no longer comforted her, so instead she slid down and sat on the floor, hugging her knees and occasionally running a finger through the fabric of San's jacket. His scent was still on it and every time she inhaled it, it had a soothing and calming effect on her mind and heart that soon helped her tense body relax until she felt sleepy. It took a lot of effort, but she climbed into her bed, not bothering to cover herself with the blanket or change into more comfortable and less confining clothes.
San's jacket was the only comforting thing at that moment......
ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.
Nudging him with his elbow, Yeosang whispered to the male next to him the presence of the girl that was slowly approaching them. Always reacting to anything related to her, San turned his head and smiled softly when he saw Y/N walking up to him.
"Hey." He greeted her.
"Hi.....I came to return this. Thanks for letting me borrow it." She held out his leather jacket, neatly folded and visible clean.
"Oh Y/N, you really didn't need to go that far." San became shy at her gesture, and worried about if she washed it cause he had forgotten to and it disgusted her.
"Don't say that. It's the least I can do for all you've done..."
She looked up at his eyes as she said that, her heart fluttering when he rested his hand on top of hers when he tried to take back his treasured article of clothing, letting it stay there for a moment, his fingers giving her hand a light squeeze. His friend behind him looked back and forth between the both of them, confused by what was going on and internally gagging at their mushy scene.
"I wanted to say thank-"
"Y/N!"
The voice calling out for her roared in her ears, sending her into a panic mode as she pulled away immediately from his physical contact. San noticed the way her body tensed up and her eyes became afraid. His own eyes narrowed at the icy blue haired man strutting up to them, a chilling smile on his manga like visuals.
"Hey baby, I've been looking all over for you. What were you doing?" He asked in a concerning tone, face bearing down on hers rather uncomfortably.
"I- I was j-just giving San back this.." She stammered as she gestured to the jacket in her hand.
Letting out a barely audible scoff, Taeyong gripped the jacket, prying it off her delicate fingers before tossing it back to San.
"Thanks bud."
San glared at him, resisting the urge to throw a punch to his face. Seeing him unresponsive, Taeyong just shrugged and suspiciously wrapped an arm around Y/N.
"Come on babe. Let's go back home."
His fingers dug into her skin, applying very painful pressure to her bruise, an occasional whimper coming out of her mouth as they walked across the football field. San's jaw tightened as he watched Taeyong lean in and whispered something in her ear, no doubt some degrading words judging by the way she cowered beneath him.
"San just let it go." Yeosang's voice said.
"I can't Yeosang. Every time I see him even breathe near her.......I feel like combusting." He grunted in frustration as his friend tried to calm him down.
"Taeyong, please stop. It really hurts." Y/N cried out, her fingers prying his hand off her aching arm.
"Shut up you little bitch. How dare you go talk to that punk? Making me look bad and having me talk to that low life." He cringed in disgust.
"I was only thanking him for lending me-"
"So what? Were you going to lend yourself to him too? Is that what you were going over to him for?"
She instantly shook her head.
"What?! No!"
"Yeah right. I bet you already whored yourself out to him...didn't you?!"
Not caring that there was still people nearby, Taeyong harshly yanked her by her hair before tossing her onto the ground, catching the attention of everyone around, including San and Yeosang.
"Fucking whore." He spat at her.
"Don't." Yeosang held his hand out when he saw San taking a step forward.
"But I can't-"
Yeosang kept an arm around him to keep him in place.
"Don't get involved. You'll only make things worse."
San looked back at the scene, his heart breaking seeing Y/N once again on the floor, trembling like a frightened kitten who had no protection. When she looked up, he saw tears already brimming down her face.
"Get up. We're going home." Taeyong sternly commanded, turning to walk away as usual.
"No."
He stopped dead in his tracks at her refusal.
"Excuse me?" He raised an eyebrow at her.
Not knowing how or where she got the strength from, Y/N got up and faced him with determination.
"I've finally had enough."
Both San and Yeosang were shocked at hearing her words, one of them more incredulous than anything and the other proud of her for finally standing up for herself. Taeyong too was put out of sorts seeing her be so bold.
"Haha, real funny baby. Now let's go home." He walked closer to her, reaching out to yank her arm, but she slapped it away.
"No! I told you! I've had it! It's over!" She declared.
Sensing he was really losing his power and control over her, Taeyong lunged at her, fist held up in the air.
"Listen here you-"
Y/N covered her face, stepping back when he came close to her. She opened her eyes and uncovered herself when she felt someone suddenly step in front of her, their hand blocking Taeyong's fist from even approaching her.
"Stay out of this Choi." Taeyong grunted.
"She told you it's over Taeyong."
San easily pushed him away single handedly, making him stumble backwards.
"Now leave and never bother her again."
Not giving up yet, Taeyong looked back at Y/N menacingly.
"And do tell me Y/N? If it's over, where are you going to live now?" He taunted her.
Realizing he was right, she almost felt defeated until San spoke up again.
"She's going to live with me." He firmly answered.
"I fucking knew it. You were being a whore with him."
Unable to hold himself back anymore, San swung hard, fist colliding with Taeyong's face, sending him falling down against the floor. Y/N covered her mouth as she gasped sharply when San picked Taeyong back up from his collar, shaking him fiercely.
"Call her that one more time! I dare you to!" He warned him as he got ready to take another swing.
"San stop!" He felt Yeosang intervene once again, holding his elbow with his hands.
"Yeosang! Just let me-"
"Stop for Y/N's sake, she's already seen and lived enough violence, I really don't think she needs to see any more." Yeosang tilted his head to the Y/N who had already began backing as far away as possible.
Realizing his friend was right, San begrudgingly let go of his most hated rival.
"Try to come near her again and I will end you."
With those final words, he went over to where Y/N was, his face softening up when he looked at her. He held out his hand to her and waited for her response. He felt happy when she finally reached out and allowed him to guide her out to the parking lot, and thankful that he decided to park somewhere where there weren't a lot of people.
"You all right?" He finally spoke up when they were finally inside his truck
"Uh...yeah...actually...I'm fine.... can you believe I actually did it?"
Although she sounded enthusiastic, he heard the crack in her voice and her nervous laughter wasn't helping her case. Instead of turning the car on, he shifted to his right to look at her. He watched as the smile left her face, her fidgeting hands suddenly shake uncontrollably and her laughter suddenly turned to her hyperventilating. Knowing what was happening, San immediately pulled her into an embrace for the very first time in his life, holding her tightly, hands running through her hair as she began breaking down, sobbing violently, finally releasing all the pent up pain and suffering she had been bottling up for years.
San himself wanted to cry, but he didn't for her sake. He just let her cry her eyes out. It took a little over 10 minutes, but finally she started to calm down.
"Thank you....for everything."
Kissing her forehead, he poked her nose and smiled at her.
"Don't mention it. Let's get you somewhere warm now."
He made sure to play soothing music for her on the ride to his house. He noticed how once again she was drifting off to sleep and simply allowed her rest, knowing she was probably exhausted not only from crying so much but also from standing up to her abusive ex boyfriend moments ago. That certainly took a lot of energy and strength from her part and he was proud of her.
It was already dark when they got home, the brooding and cloudy day shortening the daylight and making it night at such an early hour. San gently picked up Y/N and got her out of the car, carrying her sleeping figure bridal style inside his house. It was small, but at least it was cozy and would be safe for her. Peeling back the covers from his bed, he carefully laid her down on it before tucking her in. When he made sure she'd be comfortable, he turned to leave the room, deciding it'd be better for him to sleep on the couch, not wanting to overstep any boundaries or have her freak out. He barely got to the door when he heard a tiny and hushed whisper of his name.
"San?"
He immediately looked over to see what she needed.
"Could.....could you please sleep by my side?.... I'd feel more safe that way..."
She didn't want to admit it right then, but it had been so long since she'd slept in someone's arms and she really craved physical affection from him. Happy to oblige, San went over and got into bed with her.
"Are you going to be ok if I wrap my arm around you?" He asked for permission first.
"Please just hold me." She begged as she cuddled up next to him, her face burying inside his chest.
He wasted no time in throwing his arm around her, his delicate fingers drawing soothing circles on her arm.
"Don't be afraid. You're safe now and you're going to be all right. I'm here and I'll protect you."
ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.ılı.lıllılı.ıllı.
More than a year passed. It was a long and arduous process. At first Y/N didn't want to go through it, but San kept insisting she get therapy. After promising to accompany her and staying by her, she finally gave up and started seeing a psychologist. It wasn't easy, for neither of them. It was painful for her to finally speak up about all the abuse she endured for years and it was equally torturous for San to hear the rest of the untold story. It truly sickened him that one day he nearly busted Taeyong's face when he met him outside the school, but was ultimately held back once more by one of his friends. Besides his main priority was helping Y/N, helping her to properly function again and to bring a little more joy into her life, even going out to adopt a cat for her, naming her Byeol. She became their cute little baby, even if she was a total, well, cat at times and didn't want to cuddle.
"That's ok. I know a cat willing to cuddle me." Y/N chuckled.
San looked around confused.
"Wait! You got another cat? Where is- Oh! You meant me." He blushed hard when she wrapped her arms around him and pressed her body next to his as she snuggled next to him on the couch.
San did not hope for and did not expect Y/N to ever return his feelings, he was satisfied with her just being out of that horrible situation and being able to help her. Never did he dream she'd ever accept to be his and especially not ever cross his mind that he'd ever be able to actually claim her as his own.
But here she was, looking so beautiful underneath his body, wearing nothing but his leather jacket as he rolled his hips against hers. His fingers were laced with hers as his lips pulled apart from hers so he could look at her.
"Fuck...you're so damn pretty."
He leaned back in to place open mouth kisses on her jaw that traveled down to her neck. Although he nibbled occasionally, he made sure not to leave any marks on her soft and delicate skin.
"San...." She breathed out heavily, her hands breaking from his grasp to run through his black hair, paying close attention to the faded green streaks near his bangs.
"Oh god- please repeat that a little more." He groaned, loving the way she called out his name with such lust.
One of his hands traveled down her sides to cup one of her thighs, lifting her leg so he could hit deeper inside her. Feeling him at a whole new angle had Y/N gripping his muscly arms, her panting now becoming more erratic as she began clenching around him.
"San-" She called out again.
He chuckled slightly, hips snapping up to thrust just a little harder in her.
"Go ahead beautiful. Cum all over me, I want to feel you."
Hearing his low and suddenly husky voice urging her on, she let out a tiny whimper, her legs wrapping around his waist, using it as leverage to ride out her high. Her nails raked themselves into his back, her body pressed as close as it could be against his.
"Oh my god!" He gasped out as he twitched inside of her, his cum coating her walls, leaving her feeling full and complete.
He collapsed on top of her, his labored breathing occasionally resulting in a little choke as he tried to compose himself. When he finally came to, he brushed his lips against her temple.
"I love you so much."
She smiled at him as he adjusted the jacket that enveloped her, a real genuine smile.
"I love you too Sannie."
Giving her a tiny peck, he began sliding the jacket off.
"Let's get you out of this. It's probably too hot to be wearing it anymore."
She huffed and pouted.
"Baby no. I love wearing it. It feels like it's hugging me." She grabbed it and wrapped it around her more tightly.
"You know what else wants to hug you? My arms. So take off the jacket and let me snuggle you love."

Declawing the Cat- Chapter 2
“ Can you believe that nerve of that jerk?”
Marinette was absolutely furious. Tikki watched her from the bed as she paced from wall to wall. It was really getting concerning; she’s been ranting for the past three hours. School ended about five hours ago, but Marinette’s little encounter with Felix never left her mind.
“What, did he think that a few thoughtless compliments would get me to trust him? Who does he think he is, the MaYOR?”
That last part was a particularly loud shriek, and if Tikki had eardrums, they would be completely shattered by now. It was time to stop this madness.
“Mari, I know that you’re upset, and trust me, I am too. But… don’t you think that you should calm down? You’ve been at this for a really long time.”
Marinette hardly heard her. “I really tried. I tried to just leave it alone. But nooo, he just had to go and rock the boat! Can’t the guy take a hint? I mean, if someone didn’t talk to ME after giving the third fakest apology given ever, I would know that they hated MY guts.”
“Why should we trust anything he has to say? He hasn’t exactly given us any reason to like him.”
“Yeah, how can you expect us to just become friends with us after what he did? He’s a liar!”
The group gathered around Felix. He’d just been introduced to the class by Adrien, and it didn’t seem as though they were very happy to see him. They were making so much noise that no one had noticed the lack of a certain blue-eyed class president. Unbeknownst to them, Marinette was crouched behind a pillar near the courtyard, watching and listening to the entire thing.
She had been uncharacteristically early to school and was chatting with Tikki in the locker room when she heard Adrien’s voice outside. Naturally, she'd begun to walk outside to greet him. The fact that she had decided to try to get over him out of respect for Kagami doesn’t make it illegal for her to talk to him; he is her friend.
When Marinette first stepped out of the room, her first thought was that there were somehow two Adriens. Then she realized that one Adrien looked like...Adrien, and the other looked like a sad old man somehow ended up in a teen’s body. In about 0.2 seconds, she was absolutely seething. What was he doing here? Why wasn’t he at his comfortable home in the ninth circle of hell?
“Guys, this is my cousin Felix. He’s going to be attending school with us for now on. I know you guys will take him in with open arms.”
Open arms? This clown? Marinette scoffed. She’d sooner swallow a cup of tacks than let that prick into her life. Her classmates however, aren’t as strong-minded as she was. It’d probably be better if she stayed silent and invisible for this and let them make up their own minds about this, just to see what they would do.
“Why should we trust anything he has to say? He hasn’t exactly given us any reason to like him.”
“Yeah, how can you expect us to just become friends with us after what he did? He’s a liar!”
Okay, so far so good. Maybe this time around, she wouldn’t be (almost) the only person that didn’t trust a liar. Oh, how great it will be to openly loathe for once! One by one, more and more voices were protesting letting the rat into their friend group. The entirety of the class was hanging Formally-Dressed Draco to dry, and Marinette was in ecstasy.
‘Yes,’ she thought. ‘Tear him to pieces!’
Just when things were really starting to escalate, the sound of someone clearing their throats cut through the noise.
“Hello, everyone. As Adrien just told you, my name is Felix Graham de Vanily. To answer your question, Mr. Le Chein, yes, I’m the cousin of Adrien’s that impersonated him and sent you a cruel response to your heartfelt videos. For that, I am deeply sorry. I have no excuse for wha-”
What. In. The. World. If Marinette was furious before, she was positively incandescent now. He really was another Lila! Not to mention the fact that he didn’t even have the decency to make the apology seem even slightly convincing. Anyone with an EQ of 3 could see that those puppy-eyes were rehearsed and don’t even get Mari STARTED on that pout. There was no way that her class would buy this, but by the looks on their faces…
“If you’re really sorry...”
…Of course. Of-freaking-course they would believe him. Marinette sighed and walked into the classroom. Once again, she was left to hold the class’ single brain cell, by herself this time since there was no chance in Adrien distrusting his own cousin. Now how was she going to go about this was the question. If he really is Lila 2.0, then her initial plan to outright hate him will boomerang her right in the eye. No, it’s better to just avoid him at all costs; you can’t hate what you never come into contact with.
“Are you really sure that’s going to work, Marinette?” Tikki asked once they were safe inside the room. “You can’t stay away from him forever, you know. He may be a nuthead, but he’s smart enough to notice when you aren’t fawning over him like the others.”
“I know Tikki, but I think I’ll cross that bridge when I get there. For now, I’m going to go above and beyond to make sure our paths never cross.”
“That’s a relief. I thought for a moment there that you were going to do the rational thing for once.”
“Really, Tikki? Sarcasm? That’s beneath you.”
“If you’re looking for a finger to point, blame Plagg. You pick it up after being with him for a few thousand years.”
Marinette stayed true to her word and made it her mission to never be in the same room as the Great Disturbance unless it was class time. Even then, she kept a compact with her so that she could see if he was coming up behind her. Whenever someone began to bring him up into a conversation, she would quickly but subtly change the subject.
After a few days of this, she seemed to really be getting the hang of it. Avoiding him was becoming second nature to Mari. It actually would have been way easier for her if the demon hadn’t kept trying to collect her soul. Like always, Tikki had been right. The little son-of-a caught on to her really quickly and didn’t hesitate to try to reach out to her. In fact, the other classmates would often tell her that he had been looking for her, and she’d had to act as though she didn’t have a clue what they were talking about. That part hadn’t been so easy.
“So, what are you going to make for the big competition, Mari? A dress maybe?” asked Alya.
“Actually, I was thinking about sewing up a pair of suits. I’m not sure what they’ll look like yet, but I really want to try something new this time.”
“Well, I know whatever you’ll make will blow their socks off, girl. Speaking of designers, Felix told me to ask you to meet him after school . He said he wants to talk to you.”
“Is that so?” Marinette asked, feigning surprise (see bane-of-existence, you’re not the only person who can act here).
“Yeah, he really seemed to have taken an interest in you. All he ever asks us is what you're up to. It’s almost an obsession. Do I sense a little romance here? Another blond-haired green-eyed love interest?”
“Not very likely, Alya. Anyways, I guess I’ll have to talk to him later. So, are you going to tell me about your new reporting piece or what?”
What? Don’t give me that face, it’s technically not a lie; Mari did end up talking to him later, didn’t she? Though, to be fair, she wasn’t planning on actually interacting with him until they both passed. No, not passing class. The other pass.
One thing that she had learned about the knock-off Five Hargreeves was that she had greatly overestimated him. For the love, the kid wasn’t fit to kiss Lila’s feet. At least her schemes were clever and thought-through; this amaetur just existed and everything was handed to him on a silver platter. The rest of the class has spoiled him into thinking that it would be easy to capture her attention with a tense grimace of a smile and two ounces of ‘charm’. Unfortunately for him, Marinette Dupain-Cheng wasn’t so easily bought.
So, that’s the way it went for a few weeks; a classic game of cat and mouse. He would try to catch her, and she would slip out of reach at the last minute. If she had to admit it, it was very fun, especially sneaking peeks at the frustrated faces the devil makes when he thinks no one is looking; the coward can’t be emotionally vulnerable for a second.
That’s why she felt so sure that he wouldn’t follow her to the park; the place was way too open for a stand-offish guy like him. She was very safe in the great outdoors with nothing but her sketchpad, a sharpened pencil, and a sleeping Tikki in her purse. She had been working on that design that she was talking about with Alya. Marinette really needed this design to be perfect. Perhaps a double-breasted suit would work? How many buttons would she have to buy? If she was any deeper into her work, she might not have noticed the distinct smell of leather and the tears of the innocents approaching her. She just barely retained her composure.
‘What is he doing here? Whatever, perhaps if I just stay completely still, he’ll go away.”
“Ah, Ms. Dupain-Cheng! How lovely it is to see you. We never seem to talk, do we? It is quite a shame really.”
‘It would also be a shame if you were to get punched where the sun doesn’t shine, Mr. Pied Piper’, Marinette thought. Alas, no matter how much she wanted to move her hand like so, she couldn’t let him win this fight. No, just silent-treatment it out and pray he either leaves or gets struck with a lightning bolt.
“I must say, that is a lovely suit you’re designing there. I love the use of gold thread on the pants. If I may make a few suggestions-”
Him? Give fashion advice? Marinette would rather NOT learn how to dress like an off-brand Crowly, thank you very much. Good grief, he really wasn’t going to stop trying, was he? Alright, no more Nice Marinette.
That’s when she finally snapped and, well, you know how that went. Had it been ANYbody else, she probably would feel guilty for talking to someone so blatantly, but it turns out that she left that situation with zero regrets. If she didn’t put a stop to this whole ordeal, she’ll probably have to carry around a tiny halberd with her for the rest of her life, and as much as she would like to use it, he really wasn’t worth the trouble. Ugh, he makes her absolutely Sick. He’s so slimy, terrible, arrogant, deceitful-
“MARINETTE JOSEPHINE DUPAIN-CHENG BE QUIET!!!!”
Marinette was so startled she tripped over her chaise and fell onto her bed.
“Geez, Tikki! Couldn’t give a girl a warning before you scream like that?”
“You’re one to talk, Ms. The Mayor. And for the record, I did give you a warning; I’ve been calling your name since for the past hour. Are you really going to get all worked up over this, Mari? You said it yourself, he’s just another Lila.”
“I know Tikki, and I’m sorry I’ve been rambling on for so long. It’s just- yeah, he’s a liar, a fake, and way too stoic to be real, but he’s different from Lila. I don't know what it is about him, but I can’t help but wholeheartedly loathe him. Just the thought of him makes a shiver run down my spine.”
“Loathing. Right. That’s it, totally. Is that why you haven’t said his name this entire time.”
“As a matter of fact, yes. I’m very happy you noticed, Tikki. I spent a lot of time thinking up all of those insult names.”
“I’m sure you did, Marinette,” Tikki sighed. “You really don’t like this kid, do you?”
“No, I definitely do not, and not a fiber of my being will ever so much as be happy in his presence for as long as I live.”

Get a Clue
In which Bakugou only smiles around the people he wants to be around, and his girl (y/n) isn't one of them, especially the man who's hitting on her.
pairing: asshole!bakugou x fem reader

genre: angst, lovers to enemies

Tumblr media
The car had a tense atmosphere. After one hour into their two hour drive up to their mutual friend Todoroki's wedding, Bakugou and (y/n) hadn’t spoken to each other once, his attention being kept on the road, whilst hers was on the phone in her hands.
“Useless fucking GPS.” Irritation pricked at him as he took a U-turn when they reached a dead end.
“It said to take a left, then a right.” She stated, rolling her eyes in the process.
“And look where it got us.” Rage churned inside of him.
“You took two lefts.” She indicated, glancing over at him just in time to chuckle at him taking notice of his mistake since he swallowed down his frustration.
“Thanks.” He deadpanned, not sounding even an ounce grateful.
//
They had only been in the reception of the wedding for half an hour when (y/n) noticed Bakugou start to fidget beside her and unnecessarily tap his fingers on the table as if he was counting down the minutes until he could get home.
“Listen to the best man's speech, will you?” She whispered.
“Is it possible for you to go at least two minutes without being annoying?” Bakugou rolled his eyes.
“Is it possible for you to go at least two minutes without that snarl on your face?” (y/n) retorted, “You have a pretty smile, you should show off those teeth more often.”
“I smile around people I want to be around.”
“Oh c'mon, your best friend is getting wedded!” She giggled, moving her chair closer to whisper. “That lady seated across us may look frightening but she's got a big personality and that guy who accidentally stepped on your foot is probably really sweet too-“
“I was talking about you.” His frustration kicked in.
“M-me?” She stuttered, not expecting that from him at all despite his provocative attitude ever since she stopped by his house earlier morning to drive them here.
“Yes, you.” He spoke slowly, as if he was talking to a kid. “You give me an actual headache when you talk. I thought I made that clear. Wake up, get a clue!“
He held up a finger to indicate he wasn't quite done yet. “And I’m not smiling if I want to, it's not as if I’m making the guests tremble with fear. They always seem to choose me over you and, to be straightforward, I don’t blame them because you're so tiring to be with.”
Ouch. That stung. She took a second to sort through her rapidly moving thoughts. "I thought things were going g-great."
Bakugou let out the fakest laugh ever. "Real low, (y/n)."
"Why the fuck are we even together anymore?!" Y/N eventually whisper-yelled, throwing her hands up in exasperation.
"Fuck knows why," he practically spat. "I wouldn't even give a shit if you left."
She was at loss for words, opening and closing her mouth and blinking back the tears she could feel stinging her eyes. She quickly and quietly picking her things up because she no longer had to be here.
"Where – " Bakugou sighed, shutting his eyes and throwing his head back slightly as he groaned. "Where are you going, (y/n)?" He asked tiredly, looking back at the woman in question.
"Why do you care?" (y/n) scoffed, still seated. "You don't want to be around me anyway, right? You want me to take a hint, right?" She mocked. "So...I’m leaving. Leaving, as in— leaving. I’m done. I’m finished, I can’t—” she shook her head. “I’m done. We’re over.”
Bakugou turns to look at her, an almost unimpressed look on his face. “... Okay. And?” He had a sinister smile on his face. “We were never going to last. You’re just— not good enough for me.”
The Bakugou she fell in love with is now nothing but a stranger to her.
//
(y/n) was in a little black dress that flaunted off her legs with just the right amount of cleavage. Hair's let down, styled carefully, make-up done up as best as she could. (y/n)'s already normally usually feeling like she wasn't good enough for anyone, so having someone she loved with all heart point it out made her feel miserable because tonight was supposed to be different since she actually felt confident and comfortable in her own skin for the first time in ages.
It's been an hour since she broke it off with Bakugou. Sobbing silently, (y/n) headed to the wedding's open bar instead, ordering a beer. It was a cheap brand so it tasted like shit but she drank it anyway, knowing that she'd have to borrow money from Bakugou in order to get herself something more expensive. She mentally scolded herself for thinking of him, causing her to curse loudly at herself.
A soft chuckle from beside her made her jump, and she's met with the sight of a very attractive dark-haired man, maybe a year or two older than herself.
"Can I buy you something else? Doesn't sit right on the tongue, doesn't it?" He nodded over to the glass bottle she's got her fingers wrapped around.
Y/N smiled, shaking her head lightly, "Doesn't really matter, as long as it eases the pain" she shrugged a shoulder.
The man pulled a face, "It's still pretty terrible."
"... Yeah, kinda is," she answered and she's laughing lightly – the man also laughing along. "I'm, uh, (y/n), by the way," she grinned from ear to ear, offering him a hand to shake.
"I'm – " he started, but was cut off by someone clearing their throat and then there was the feel of someone wrapping their arm around Y/N's waist.
"Don't know, don't care," Bakugou's familiar voice drifted into her ears and it's obviously him that's got his arm wrapped around her waist because no one else could immediately make her feel so warm and safe by just a simple act of love. Until an hour ago, that is. So she physically restrained herself from leaning into his touch and slid away from his hold.
The stranger cleared his throat awkwardly, eyeing Bakugou for a brief moment before backing down and stepping away because Bakugou's glaring at him so hard that even someone innocent would feel guilty for no reason whatsoever.
Y/N slid her gaze over to him and Bakugou's still glaring at the direction in which the man's just walked away, so she huffed in frustration and crossed her arms across her chest as she stared him down.
"What the fuck was that?" Y/N practically hisses. Who is he to chase off the guy that she'd just been talking with when he was off breaking her heart just an hour before? He's no one, that's who.
"I want to marry you." Bakugou's voice is low as he speaks, eyes narrowing down on Y/N as she stares up at him defiantly. "I mean it...really."
"I want to burn the image of when I first see you in a dress, the way I cry and how I couldn’t stop crying afterward, and how I feel both embarrassed and glad for my crying, embarrassed because I’m a man and crying in public is still hard, and glad because it means something when you cry on your wedding day. And the way I lift our clasped hands after we're announced, and how I feel accomplished in life, something in between 'We did it,' and, 'Holy Shit this is actually happening.' and-" he cut himself off, not because he was done with his rant.
But because he was crying. He was actually full-fledged crying, tears streaming down either sides of his cheeks and his nose was reddening from sniffling too much. She took a step forward, and Bakugou didn't see her move, because he was so preoccupied with wiping at his eyes – as though to get rid of any evidence that he'd been crying.
"Fuck off," She nearly laughed out. “That’s not what you were saying an hour ago.”
“I know that but I didn’t mean it, you know I didn’t.”
“Do I?” She looked up to find he was avoiding her intimidating gaze. “Because whoever that was who pushed me out and tried to imply I was a nuisance is certainly not the man I plan to get along with, let alone marry.”
“No. No, I-I’m just. You know I love you. You know I want to— I want this. You know that you mean the fucking world to me, you always have, you always will. I just— I was mad at myself because— I saw, fucking firsthand, how many people want you, and how you could have anyone, but then— you— you’re with me. The quick-tempered asshole, and—” He stopped, figuring his words are all but making sense to her, chest heaving up and down rapidly like he had just been running kilometers at a time. His eyes are still wide, maybe even a little crazed.
She stayed completely silent.
All she did was stare at him, breathing almost as heavily as he was. But her ears rang with his words and God, she wanted to walk away so badly—but she doesn’t think she's physically capable of doing so from the boy that she was sure she's going to never stop loving because she's whipped for the guy. Feeling's mutual though, since (y/n) had his heart in the palm of her hands and she wasn't even aware of it because all he did was make her feel like he's leagues above her and it's such a shitty feeling.
Bakugou was the first to break the silence. “I’m begging you, (y/n)” Bakugou nearly whispered out, eyes a shade of stained glass. "If you want to walk out right now, not even be near me, I’ll understand. But— fuck. Please don’t leave me for good. Please let me make up for my shortcomings as your boyfriend, and hopefully— hopefully — as your husband and...the dad of our future children."

Leech Lord - Crux
Tumblr media
Tyreen
Leda
There isn't anything Ty could have done differently or changed in her life that would have altered the path she would be forced down, that's totally out of her control. She's just a puppet at the end of razor wires when it comes to her decisions, her drives. It wouldn't have mattered what she had set her sights on when they reached Pandora. Could have worked in Eridium mines, could have become a merc, could have been a million different versions of herself and they all would have ended the same - a semi possessed dictator chasing after something she doesn't want and doesn't even understand, dragging her bloodied twin along behind her.
But there is one thing she could have chosen differently that would have altered that path massively, and it was what happened to her mother.
They were only 8, Troy and her, and she tries to convince herself often that that's excuse enough. Little kids can't control their temper well, right? It wasn't her fault, that's just how children that age are... except she knows that's a lie because she can distinctly remember making the choice.
"Use your words, Starlight."
Told lovingly so often, over and over by parents who wanted the best for her, who she trusted, who she knew were right every time she gave in to the anger and saw the disappointment in their eyes after, or like in Troy's as he turned and ran sobbing back towards their home while blood trickled down his shirt.
She knew they were exhausted, she knew the silence that hung like a guillotine over her brother's bed on that terrible night meant this time wasn't for her, but she'd made the choice. She could have used her words - but lashing out just felt so much better.
If she hadn't thrown that tantrum, screeching and flinging herself around the room, slamming her fists into half repaired O2 scrubbers she knew breaking would upset her parents, then Leda wouldn't have had to grab her, that slap wouldn't have come. The "Universe does not revolve around YOU, TYREEN." wouldn't have been needed, and her powers wouldn't have flared in response to the rush of uncontrolled emotion.
She made that choice.
She wanted the attention, she wanted to hurt them, she wanted Mom and Pop to stop staring at her stupid, limp, pale, wheezing brother and look at HER, and that killed their mother.
If Leda had not died that night, Troy wouldn't have lived.
If Troy hadn't lived, she never would have been able to leave Nekrotafeyo.
Would she have turned on her parents eventually, when her half of The Leech grew sick of waiting to be whole and realised the useless host it was trapped inside was unable to absorb what Troy had contained? Probably.
But she would never have reached Pandora, and that would have been for the better of the entire Universe.
Tumblr media
Troy
"-tsk-... not like I have a choice."
That's a lie. He always did.
It's really hard to say if the reason Troy has always submitted to Tyreen is because of The Leech's influence, the Mouth commands and the Eye watches after all, or if it's just his natural disposition. For all his skill in leading, he doesn't enjoy it and never has. He likes to be useful, not in control. He wants satisfaction, not attention.
When she demanded he fly them off planet to leave Typhon and the only life he’d ever known behind like who he was didn’t matter, it didn't even cross his mind to just say no. Too conditioned from years of knowing he could be so easily overpowered mentally and physically by his stronger twin to understand how effortlessly he could drag her away from that ship and enforce his will. He's over a foot taller, even at his thinnest he massively outweighs her, and they both know her powers don't work on him.
Tyreen has been the dominant twin for practically as long as he can remember. There was a time when they were very young that they were equal physically, but as he got sicker, the gap between them grew. In Troy's mind, Tyreen is still able to push him over, crack his skull against a rock with ease. In his mind, she can still pin him while wrestling, lean weight down onto the weak side of his ribcage where there's no shoulder blade to protect it. She can twist his arm till his joints pop and then somehow convince everyone else that he’d just had an accident. She's faster, and stronger, and more dangerous than him - except in reality it's the total opposite.
He just doesn’t see what other people do so clearly.
He's fully aware of all this, but he still tells himself he has no choice, and every time he's done that he's shifted the course of his own future in a way he doesn't actually want.
He's always had a choice.
Even as she demands he turn the entire CoV towards hunting the Great Vault and abandoning everything the cult has worked towards since they birthed it, he defers to her command. Why? If he was to pin her against a wall, dare her to MAKE HIM, what would happen? If he confined her in a cell of raw Eridium, who does he actually think would fall first? He needs energy from her, yes... but Tyreen needs to feed constantly. He knows that. He knows that removed from sources to Leech from, she'd be left begging for his help well before he'd starve.
Every single time he tells himself he has no choice, he's making one.

"You sure about this? Could use you at deck this season, gonna be a busy one, girl. Stay on, earn a bit more for the savings, cover your ass before you make the jump?"
"Nahhh Boss. It's time. Gut ain't done me wrong yet, and it's feeling like I should set out. Anyway, you won't get rid of me that easy, I'll still touch base every few months."
"Ugh... And here's me thinkin' I'd finally be done dealin' with you..."
"Hahaha, you WISH old man!"
If Sei hadn't left the fleet when she did, she would be absolutely miserable.
Not that she has any way to know that, and she'd bitch that she's miserable now anyway, but she's not really. Not in comparison.
She set out on her own earlier than the norm, just turning 20. Usually fledgers would stick around till 23, 24, long enough to have a backup cache - enough to cover a lean season of income or some bum deals, but she'd insisted she wouldn't fail, and she'd been partially right in the end.
If she'd stayed, that confidence would have slowly ebbed away. Been handed the next group of Rosk orphans to train up. Gotten attached. Gotten bored. Met someone who liked her enough to tolerate him and justify pushing her leaving date back a couple of years. Then a couple more. Then a few more... till even she knew it was just lip service and she wasn't going anywhere.
The next Rosk in a line of Rosks raising more Rosks and withering away in relative success till she'd take Boss's role when he eventually pissed off to the great beyond.
Never would have touched Pandora.
Wouldn't have cared about whatever was happening on that rock, with the Dune Witch and that, what was it, the "Crawling Sorrow" or something? Whole planet was being consumed by a mad space sorceresss from one side, and a curse or something from the other.
Deserved it anyway. Fuckin shithole, lol.
Asks are open!

————
"Dustin, Please, just leave me alone." She lay back on her bed, tears streaming down her face and hair amiss from where she'd run her fingers through it. "I'm fine, I just...give me some time."
"But, we tell eachother everything." Her little brother sounded so small and defeated that it almost broke her heart in two. She could hear him leaning his back against the door, the back of his head thumping dully against the wood a second later. "I feel like we're drifting apart. You don't talk to me anymore."
"Dustin-"
"No, it's okay. Don't worry." Dustin cleared the remnants of his upset from his throat, "We can talk later. I get that you need time."
And with that, he'd left. She could hear his muffled footsteps on the carpeted floor of the hallway, walking away from her bedroom and back to his own. She knew that she wanted to talk to him and vent about all of the happenings of the day, but she couldn't bring herself to let her walls down in front of anyone about her current situation just yet.
It was Steve. And it was bad.
They'd been together for a year and ten months. He'd been there for her through thick and thin. Whenever their mom went MIA, something that happened more often than not, during the days and weeks and months that Y/N was left to take care of her thirteen year old brother on her own with no notice whatsoever, Steve was there. And he'd take Dustin out to the cinema, give him free ice cream, play Dungeons and Dragons with him and his friends - even though Steve had no idea how to play Dungeons and Dragons. He'd sleep over, make her feel like she wasn't alone. It filled her with pride to see him taking Dustin under his wing, more like a dad than even an older brother.
When they lost Hopper, who'd become more of a parental figure than she and Dustin's mom was to her, he was standing by her side at the funeral, hand grasping her own smaller one with force and squeezing it every so often, just to remind her that he was there. He was there after the funeral, too, when they went to the cabin and went through Hopper's things. He was there when she found the birthday present that Hopper had bought for her, a necklace with, 'you're pretty cool, kid', engraved on it. Hopper's way of saying that he loved her. It came with a letter, one that she cried so hard while reading that she couldn't see the words on the page.
The point was, that Steve had been there through everything. And now that they'd had a huge argument over - of all things - Nancy Wheeler, she was unsure of whether or not she'd have Steve to lean on anymore.
It wasn't so much a stupid argument as it was a stupid mistake on Steve's end. He even admitted to himself that what he'd done was more than a dick move. Tina was having a party, a big one, for old time's sake. Y/N wasn't invited, having been socially considered as 'uncool' while in High School, while Steve was invited. He said that it wasn't a big deal, it didn't matter, he wouldn't go.
Except that it was a big deal, it did matter, and, well, he did go.
He'd gotten really drunk, so drunk, in fact, that he had no recollection of the night at all and managed to stumble to Y/N's front door at five in the morning.
He'd told her that he went to the party, that he was sorry. She'd been mad, but she was so tired that she said she'd deal with it in the morning and told Steve to sleep it off on the sofa. Before going to sleep, however, Steve had told Y/N that he 'thought he might've kissed Nancy' that night.
They'd argued about it the next day. She'd dropped him off at home, neither of them speaking at all in the car, and they'd screamed at eachother in Steve's living room. Little did either of them know, Steve hadn't actually kissed Nancy, he was just so drunk that he made himself believe that he had. And then, Y/N told Steve that they were done, and he'd said 'fine', and she'd left and cried in her car for an hour.
And now, she was here. Crying on her bed, little brother probably thinking that one of her friends had died or something.
She hated herself for blowing up and flying off the handle and literally breaking up with Steve. Steve, on the other hand, hated himself for even going to the party, hated himself for - possibly - kissing Nancy, hated himself for going to Y/N's front door and waking her up so early in the morning.
In the grand scheme of things, Steve Harrington had been an asshole. And he was all too aware of it.
It had been around half an hour since she got home when Dustin knocked on the door again. This time, she'd managed to calm down enough to allow him to come inside. She looked horrifying, hair messed up, tear stained face, cuddling a pillow and wearing one of Steve's shirts, but Dustin was her brother, he had no right to judge her.
The door swung open slowly, and Dustin was there, grinning and holding two pints of ice cream, spoons, and some movies. "Thought we could put a movie on and eat. And you can tell me about your problems and I promise I'll listen."
"Is the ice cream cookie dough?" Y/N asked, sniffling, and a watery smile crossed her face. Dustin laughed, happy to see his sister perking up at least a little bit, even if it was over ice cream, and turned the carton to reveal to her that it was, in fact, cookie dough.
"Only the best." He tossed one of the cartons and a spoon at her, and turned on the TV set that sat across from her bed. "Besides, I know it's the only one you'll eat when you're sad."
"You know me entirely too well." She hugged her knees to her chest and dug into her ice cream, relishing in the taste of it for a second, "Oh my God, I haven't had this in so long. And the Scoops cookie dough is so bad."
"Right? I know Steve thinks it's the best, but he is so wrong." Little did Dustin know, one mention of his name would make Y/N's meltdown begin all over again. Soon enough, she was crying hot tears into her ice cream, and she allowed Dustin to lay his head on her shoulder while she explained everything.
"Okay, I have to go somewhere." Dustin knew what he had to do, and Y/N's eyebrows furrowed as he got swiftly up from her bed. "I'll be like, maybe half an hour. But you can eat my ice cream if it starts to melt."
"Dustin! Don't leave me!"
"Watch the movie!"
And then he was gone, and she was by herself, with only some ice cream and E.T. to keep her company.
Meanwhile, Dustin had found Steve at work. He was insanely hungover - although, the headache and sickness had gone away thanks to Robin and her Tylenol, but the tiredness still remained - and reminded Dustin faintly of a particular zombie in Day of the Dead when he walked into Family Video to find him leaning on the counter. The grim look on his face wasn't so much because of the hangover, though, it was more to do with the fact that he and his girlfriend of nearly two years had broken up half an hour ago, and he'd been forced to go to work.
"If you're here to talk to Steve, I wouldn't. He nearly punched me when I asked him if he wanted Tylenol. And I'm a girl." Robin stopped Dustin at the front door, a serious look on her face, but he shrugged her off.
"It's fine. He won't do anything. Besides, I know what this whole thing's about. That's why I'm here." He tried to walk off again, but Robin grabbed his upper arm, tugging him back and making him elaborate.
"Is it Y/N? I think there was a fight between them or something. He’s never looked this rough.” Robin looked concerned, and she was. She’d never seen Steve so upset before. “He was crying when he came in.” She added.
Dustin shrugged, “Yeah, I’m gonna talk to him. He’ll be fine tomorrow.” He decided not to give Robin any more information on the situation in case Y/N or Steve would've gotten mad at him for it.
"Henderson, hey." Steve said quietly when he noticed that Dustin had entered the store. He looked like he'd been crying, and Robin was definitely right when she said he’d never looked rougher. "If you're here to hang out-"
"I'm not here to hang out, Steve. We have to talk." Dustin crossed his arms sternly over his chest, raising his eyebrows and nodding his head in the direction of the store room. Steve grumbled and complied, unlocking the door and ushering Dustin inside.
"You have to apologise."
"Apologise? Apologise for - what exactly are we talking about?" Steve rubbed a hand exhaustedly over his face, leaning against a sealed box of movies that he was supposed to have put away by now.
"You know what for, Steve. Y/N. You hurt her. Like, really badly. I don't think I've ever seen her so upset." Steve already wanted Dustin to stop, but he continued, really wanting him to get the message of just how hurt his sister was. "She cried in her room for half an hour before she even let me talk to her, and now she's at home by herself, probably crying some more because you went to a stupid party. I mean, seriously man, couldn't you just have stayed home? What was so important about it?"
Steve threw his head back and hid his face with his hands, wanting the floor to open up and swallow him whole. He knew that he'd been a dick, he knew that he'd hurt her, but, Jesus, knowing the details made his heart flip in his chest and his stomach hurt. He hated seeing Y/N upset at the best of times, nevermind when it was his fault.
"Yeah. Yeah, I should've just left it. Jeez, Dustin, I'm such an asshole."
"Yes. An asshole, you are. And what was that other shit? About you kissing Nancy?"
"I didn't kiss Nancy, okay? My drunk mind just kinda...made me believe that I did. I called her today just to confirm." Steve swallowed, suddenly having the nausea of his hangover coming back to him.
"Does Y/N know that?" Dustin had his arms crossed, back against the wall, looking unimpressed as Steve shook his head. "Seriously man? Don't you think that the first thing you should've done after finding out that you didn't actually cheat on your girlfriend, was tell your girlfriend that you didn't actually cheat on her?"
"My head's all over the place, Henderson. Cut me some slack, okay?"
"You have to come say sorry, you know that, right?"
"I will. I will, I promise. I finish in an hour, why don't you go home, I'll buy some flowers, take a shower and get changed, and I'll come chap on your door like none of this even happened." Steve had suddenly perked up, gesturing with his arms and almost getting excited to initiate his plan.
"Yeah. Sure. But it better be good, Harrington. You better make her happy."
Steve didn't even have time to respond before Dustin was running off, getting on his bike, and cycling back home to his sister. He promised himself internally that he'd do all it took to make her happy.
Y/N had finished her ice cream and Dustin's had started to melt by the time he got home. She hadn't cried any more, had been too focussed on the movie, and Dustin was relieved to see her laughing at something on the screen when he entered her bedroom.
"Hey." She smiled. "Your ice cream's melting, you'd better eat it."
Dustin smiled and bellyflopped onto her bed, sending her into a fit of laughter. They both laughed so hard, in fact, that they barely heard the doorbell ring, and Dustin almost got up to go and get it.
He stopped himself though, not wanting Steve to call him an idiot or something along those lines. "You should go. I have to eat my ice cream before it melts." He said sheepishly, sitting back down from where he'd jumped up. Y/N rolled her eyes and threw the pillow that she was holding at Dustin's face.
"Alright, make your sad sister get the door because you have to eat ice cream." She stood up even as she spoke, knowing that Dustin wasn't going to budge. "Nice one, asshole."
Y/N had left her bedroom before Dustin could retaliate, bounding down the stairs and realising that, if anyone saw her the way that she looked now, they'd probably never respect her again. The doorbell went again, and she sighed quietly at the lack of patience from whoever was on the other side.
She - stupidly - didn't even bother to look out of the window that stood next to the door to check who it was before opening it, and nearly closed it again when she realised who was standing there.
"Hey, woah, don't close the door yet!" It was Steve, his eyes widened from the possibility that he'd come all the way to her house so that she could slam the door in his face, holding white lilies and a box of chocolates, which was - in Y/N's opinion - the cheesiest apology ever. "Just...listen? For like, a minute."
She slowly let her hand slide off of the door knob, watching as Steve relaxed a significant amount even from seeing her do that. "A minute." She crossed her arms over her chest, chewing her cheek. "You have a minute."
"Okay, uh, yeah, okay." Steve began his rambling. "Listen, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I know I shouldn't have gone to that party, I know I shouldn't have gotten so drunk that I managed to convince myself that I kissed Nancy. Did I already say that I didn't actually kiss Nancy? I called her, and she said we didn't even speak. Bottom line is, I'm an asshole. I know that, and I hate myself for hurting you. Dustin told me how upset you were and I...I couldn't even comprehend the fact that I did that."
He paused, looking down at his feet and waiting for Y/N to say something. Something that didn't come, she simply stood, looking at and biting her fingernails, trying to figure out whether or not she should give in and forgive him or not, so he stopped waiting and spoke some more.
"I'm sorry. I love you. I love you so much. And I know that I fucked up, and I don't expect you to forgive me-"
"Steve." Y/N stopped him. He looked up at her, expecting that she'd look upset or annoyed, but she was smiling and shaking her head. "Come here."
"Seriously?" He already wished he hadn't said what he did before he'd even finished speaking. Seriously? What kind of thing to say was that? "I mean, you know-"
She was already hugging him before he could finish speaking. She knew that he'd ramble on for hours if he could, but she also knew that she already forgave him and didn't need to listen to his rambling. "It's okay. I forgive you."
"Oh, thank God. I thought I'd lost you, really, I did." He sighed into her hair, realising that he was probably ruining the bouquet of flowers with the way that he was crushing them against her back.
"Well, you were an asshole. You had every right to think you'd lost me." Steve had always loved her subtle sassiness, it was a habit that she often fell into unknowingly, but it made him chuckle.
"Yeah. Yeah, you're right. I was an asshole."
She let go of him, finally, and stood back. He was wearing his light blue jeans, a black t-shirt and belt, with a blue jacket. It was an outfit that she'd seen him in before, quite a few times, but he never failed to look good in it anyway. His hair was slightly amiss, as though he'd gotten ready as quickly as he could - which was true, but she didn't know that for sure - but it still had his Steve 'the hair' Harrington charm.
"So, can I come in, or are you just gonna stand there and mock me?" He grinned and she stood to the side, allowing him to join her in the hallway. He went straight for the kitchen, taking out a vase and filling it up with water, then placing the flowers in it and leaving it on the kitchen counter.
"I didn't say you could-" She was trying to joke with him, but he didn't seem to care much, as he cut her off by dipping his head towards hers and kissing her passionately. He hated to admit it, probably something to do with the small part of his King Steve persona that he still carried around with him, but he'd missed her, and it had only been a few hours.
"Woah, easy tiger." Y/N laughed, pulling away when Steve's hands started to travel downwards. "We haven't even properly spoken yet."
"Yeah. Sorry." Steve said sheepishly. He pushed his hands into the pockets of his jeans and smiled down at the floor. "Do you wanna talk?"
She shrugged. "Not particularly."
"So, really, it's okay for me to do this," He closed the gap between them again, beaming at her while he searched her face for any sign of disapproval and admired the little flecks of contrasting colours that danced in her eyes. And then he kissed her again, lips soft against her own, gentle - something that wasn't widely believed, Steve Harrington was actually one of the most gentle people that Y/N had ever met.
"Well, yeah." She grinned, breathless. "But I'm sort of in the middle of watching a movie, wanna join?"
And so they spent the rest of the day, wrapped in the blankets on Y/N's bed and Y/N wrapped in Steve's arms, watching movies that Dustin fished out from the cabinet under the TV that Y/N didn't even know that they had.
She had to say, Steve's apologies were often cheesy and terrible, but this one wasn’t so bad as it was enjoyable.

pairing: Harry Styles x OC
synopsis: a night out on the town
disclaimer: cursing, bars
Tumblr media
Forever is composed of nows
Avery watched Harry decline the incoming call without a second thought. “We should get going.” He said, already making his way to the door. She quickly grabbed her keys and her coat before following him out of the flat. There was something impatient and troublesome about his presence as he waited for her to lock her front door.
“How are we getting there?”
“We drive.” He must be a damn good photographer if he could afford a car. As if he could read her mind, he soon spoke, “The car’s not mine, It's my uncles.”
The vehicle was small but cute. It seemed to fit him well. During the drive to the club, Harry was rather quiet and closed off. Later saying that his friends were already there, quickly assuming she still remembered them from his birthday
“So, you're a photographer, right? What do you photograph?”
“I like black and white photographs,” He said. He stopped to think about what he was going to say next before he continued. “When I got into photography I used to just take pictures of my friends without them noticing. Then I moved on to public transport, parties, concerts. All those places where you can catch a glimpse of people's souls. I quickly threw out all of my colored films and switched to black and white. There's something so much more vulnerable and secretive about it…”
“I like that.” She imagines Harry with a camera in his hand, spending his days in London looking for the mystery in every person who passed him.
He gave her a small smile, which did not reach all the way up to his eyes. “Me too. However, I can't make my money with that. It's not good enough to stand on its own, so I work for a modeling agency as a photographer. It's not bad, they pay good enough but it also shows me just how much I hate staged photographs. What about you then? What's your passion?”
She shrugged, moving her gaze to the front. “Writing, I guess.” The truth was, she had no idea. In her opinion, it was too hard for her to organize all of her thoughts inside of her head, let alone sit down to put them to paper. She wanted to be a writer. She did. It was one of the only things she really wanted, but she knew she didn't have the talent or skill set for it.
“So you want to be a journalist? Or a writer?” Harry asked. She struggled with finding an answer since nobody had ever shown that much real, genuine interest in her.
“Just a writer, I think… but journalism sounds nice too.” In reality, she'd like to tell him that she didn't know what to do. Tell him that she was lost. Completely and utterly lost. In her childhood, she was never given the chance to find her talents or develop specific abilities. She had never shown her work to anyone, only submitting a handful of short stories to magazines just to receive no reply in return.
“Can you tell me more about your photographs?’’
He grinned and told Avery more. He spoke with so much emotion that Avery found herself wondering if she had sounded the same when she talked about writing. Most likely not. I felt like he knew exactly what he was doing. He knew how to capture an image and turn it into the most wonderful masterpiece.
Soon after, the club came in sight. Harry parked the car at the side of the road, and as they were getting out, a sudden wave of exhaustion overcame her. Just thinking about meeting his friends, for real this time, made her mind so tired, “You ready?”
“Sure.”
Tumblr media
Avery had never been much of a club person, always liking the warmer feeling a pub provided. She didn't like the loud music, the overwhelming smell of pure sweat, and just the overall pace of it all. She felt like everything went so much faster. Harry helped her take off her coat as they got inside. Despite her objections, he paid for both entries, emitting a small chuckle when she tried to argue with him.
The entire place was filled with people and the music was being managed by a DJ in the back of the room. Different colored lights flashed and moved through the crowd. Harry soon took her hand into his own, leading her through the crowd, and down a small flight of stairs to a much quieter area.
The brunette girl was the first person Avery spotted. “Emily, How are you? Why are you down here?” Harry greeted her with a hug, letting go of Avery's hand in the process. “Not bad, the DJ is kinda wack.”
“Well, look who's talking. The girl who said we HAD to come here.” A guy standing close by said, mimicking Emily.
“Shut up, George.” Harry greeted the others. Some of them she recognized from the party and some she didn't.
“This is Avery.” He introduced her and all of his friends' eyes stopped on her for a moment, looking her up and down, making her feel like a rat on a doctor’s table.
“Nice to see you again,” Emily said, the others nodded in her direction, but a second later all of their attention was back on Emily. She let out a dramatic sigh, “So, what are we going to do? Stay here, or go somewhere else?”
“I vote that we stay here.” A rather tall man, Harry had introduced as James, said. The brunette rolled her eyes, all of them making their way to the dance floor nonetheless, George making it his responsibility to get drinks for everybody.
It was hard for Avery to enjoy herself. She felt incredibly awkward while dancing, or trying to anyway. All the others had some type of rhythm in their blood, while she was desperately trying her best. Once “Low” by Flo Rida started to pour out of the speakers, she made a mad dash to the bathroom, staying there until the song was finished. Harry didn't drink, as he had to drive them both back afterward, so Avery did the same. Wanting to avoid all possible realms of embarrassment.
He gave her a small backstory of his mates. James has very rich parents, his dad paying his way through law school just so he can tell his colleagues that his son is a successful lawyer. James has a twin brother named Jasper, he ended up leaving home the first chance he got. George is a failed musician who has the entire second verse of Piano Man tattooed on his ass. Emily is into fashion, but she lost per passion for it after she got rejected from a school in Amsterdam. They all seemed to be on some kind of path. Every one of them working their way to the future, attempting to reach some sort of goal.
And Harry had taken photos of all of it. Documenting their entire lives as these individuals. He had taken photos of James passed out on the floor with numerous textbooks open around him, all just to live up to his father's standards. There were pictures of George playing the piano in many different pubs, several pints sitting atop the instrument while his friends listened to him play a tune. A few were taken of Emily hard at work, sat by her sewing machine, or window shopping at nearby second-hand dress shops. And when Jasper was around, there were a couple of him trying to learn how to juggle, the instructions given to him by a homeless man.
Their lives had been documented in a way so utterly beautiful. Photographs were taken in moments that seemed worth freezing. Moments that a curly-headed boy thought deserved to be remembered forever. Knowing all of this made Avery feel so unexplainably lonely, especially while being in their company.
Tumblr media
“Did you have fun?” They had made it back to the car at 2 am. Harry took a quick look back, seeing all of his friends laughing, and stumbling while making their way back home.
“Yes, thank you for inviting me.”
“My pleasure. What are you going to do when you get home?” He backed out and drove onto the main road.
“Probably make a couple of cups of coffee.” She still hadn't made it out to the grocery to pick up more tea.
“You don't sleep often, huh?”
“What makes you think that?” The answer was obvious.
“You look tired a lot. Why don't you sleep?” Avery ignores his assumption. She wasn't offended, it was easy to assume without being incorrect.
“I don't like it,” She shrugged, feeling like a child. “I prefer to stay awake.” Avery could tell that he wanted to ask more questions. She would have been fine with this, but at this point, she was beyond exhausted and couldn't handle giving any more answers. “Can I ask you a question?’’
“Shoot.”
She waited a moment before continuing. Not for dramatic effect, just to figure out how she wanted to go about it. “What do you dream of?”
Harry's eyebrows pulled together, and he looked her way. “Uhm… I guess making a living off my-”
“No,” She quickly stopped him. “I mean… When you fall asleep at night. What do you dream of?”
“Oh… I don't know. I forget most of the time when I wake up, but last week I dreamed I had adopted a puppy and he ran away the second day I had him. I oddly enough didn't mind that he had run away. He ended up coming back on the third day. Quite random, but that was that… Why are you asking me this?”
Avery smiled at the description of his dream. So innocent and childlike. He didn't have to worry about what would appear before him when he fell asleep, and she was glad that he didn't have to. “No reason.”

Opening Up
Kota: had made breakfast and immediately texted Clare letting her know he was awake. He smiled seeing that she texted back and decided to pick her up since Yohio was at the office already. Once he picked up Clare he drove her back to his house. "Sorry, I need some things and Emi is still sleeping, I don't want her to think I left her." He said knowing she normally didn't sleep this late, it was already 11am. When they got back to his house. Kota looked at Clare. "I can't leave again until Emi wakes up." He sighed. "And I have to help with dishes, but after that we can leave. It was easier for me to get you first and I wanted to see you." He admitted and walked inside. Genre immediately pulled him to the kitchen as they started to do dishes in an assembly line together and play around. "They're always like that. Kota doesn't know, but they have an unbreakable bond. He'll always be her favorite because in our eyes she saved him, but we don't know what she saved him from." Dom said motioning between the two as they worked and splashed each other a little. "When we were 10 a few months after our dad died, Kota went from going outside everyday to being a recluse in the blink of an eye. He stopped going to school, stopped tutoring, and stopped leaving his room for unnecessary reasons. He even locked the door if he went to the bathroom so we couldn't sneak in. Ash and I sat outside his door for a bit talking waiting for him to open it, but after fifteen or so minutes we gave up. Mom would leave a plate of food for him in front of his door and after we finished there was just an empty plate by his door. I kept banging on his door wanting to know what was going on, but when he opened the door, his eyes were empty and frightfully cold. He looked like someone crushed his hopes and dreams and I was pretty sure that's what happened. Genre came by and sat outside of Kota's door talking to him, but when we'd go into her view she resorted to knocking. After fifteen minutes, I checked on her and she was still there. Twenty minutes, she was still there, even after an hour. She just didn't move then after an hour and a half I was going to talk to her and comfort her about him not opening his door, but she was gone. We checked the house, Kota's room was still locked and then we hear that she's in his room and they were both sleeping. After that she refused to leave his room aside from going to the bathroom. Two plates were placed in front of his room for meals rather than one and when Ash and I tried to lock ourselves in our room like that, we got in trouble. We wanted to prank Kota so he'd talk to us or get mad at us or have some reaction, we got a bucket of water and Kelly said if we throw that on Kota she will beat us till we were black and blue, we of course told mom and we were told if we mess with Kota we will be Kelly's slaves for however long she sees fit so we left him alone. When school came, Genre went with us and got Kota's make up work for him. That went on for a while, then one day when we got home, Kota was sitting at the table. We were told not to get too excited or bother him. I of course asked why he was locking himself in his room and Genre started beating me with a text book, she even chased me and started throwing her books at me rather hard until I locked myself in my room. I was grounded for two days on top of that. Soon Kota started to liven up and Genre went home when he started to go back to school. She doesn't know what happened to him other than he was really sad, had nightmares where he'd wake up crying in a cold sweat, and she'd often hold him as he'd cry telling him she's not leaving and comfort him. The only ones who know what he went through are mom and Kelly, but they won't tell us since it's not their place and Genre threatened to torture us if we ask Kota and we don't want that. I got a guy to kiss Kota and Genre stalked me for a week in the creepiest way. I'd get little notes in my bag with cut out letters counting down my death and mom and Kelly would tell me there was nothing to worry about. On the last day I went to shower and someone picked the lock, I hard a dark grown male voice ask if I was ready to die, then party poppers went off and I screamed. Genre got even." Dom explained. "Clare and I will be back later or I will. Emi is all set." Kota yelled and walked to where she and Dom were sitting, his outfit consisting of a clean pair of blue jeans and a MB shirt. He opened both the house and car door for Clare so she didn't have to. When he started to drive, he glanced at her. "I know someone probably told you I became a recluse/hermit when I was little." He explained as he drove. "We'll get to that. I went out a lot when I was little. Kelly often took me to the park when Dom was busy, I made a friend there. We were 4 when we met, she lived close by, but never came over. Kelly started taking me to her house and we became best friends. She was in the same elementary school, but different class so we only saw each other during recess and Dom had his own friends so we didn't hang out with him. During summer when Dom hung out with his friends I hung out with mine and made her part of it. In middle school my other friends moved while she stayed and was in a different class, but we had lunch together while Genre isolated herself for unnecessary reasons. Her name was Makayla and we became attached at the hip, doing everything together." He pulled over. "I'd go over to her house and we'd watch movies, have popcorn fights, do homework together. We even went to our first dance together though we skipped after ten minutes because we got bored and went back to her house. She could tell Dom and I apart just by looking, we even wore the same outfit to school to confuse our friends, but she knew the difference. Her dad died when she was 7, her younger sister was a year old. I went to the funeral with her, we held hands the entire time and I stayed with them until they got better. When my dad died, she did the same. She helped me by talking to me and got my mom to drop me off at her place so I didn't have to go to stay home with Kelly and my brothers. At that time I didn't think she'd ever leave my side. I didn't think she would do something so stupid. I had gotten sick with the flu a few weeks later and talked to her on the phone. I told her I couldn't wait to see her and hear her stories, it was snowing pretty hard when she hung up. I just remember waking up to mom yelling orders as Kelly bundled me up. I thought my fever was getting too high as mom rushed me out, buckled me in the car, and sped off. We got to the hospital and mom told me not to be scared as we got out of the car, she lead me to a closed door with Ms. Jefferies in front of it and I was given a hospital mask to put on since I was sick. Makayla wanted to surprise me so she snuck outside and got me a get well card. On her way home she was hit by a drunk driver. She was in a coma, I stayed by her side for three days as I got better with help from nurses and she woke up." he said and drove to a house seconds away. "Makayla stole my first kiss when she woke up and-" he was interrupted by a ten year-old knocking on his window "Is this her, did you finally bring Clare?" The girl asked in excitement as he opened his door. "Yes, this is Clare." He said and the girl immediately ran, opened Clare's door, and hugged her. "We finally get to meet you. She needs to meet Makayla too. Oh I'm Jill, I knew Kota my whole life. Like from the day I was born, I even have pictures of him holding me as a baby, though Kay was in it too." The girl said with excitement as she drug Clare inside and to a shrine with a picture on display of Makayla and Kota at the age of 10 in front of an urn as Kota stood next to her. "Hey Kay, I bought Clare. Clare this is Makayla." He said motioning to the urn and picture. "That was the last picture taken of Makayla, she never liked taking pictures without Kota." An older woman said looking at Clare. "That's Ms. Jefferies, Makayla's mom." Kota whispered in Clare's ear. "Did you bring me chocolate?" Jill asked and he looked at her. "Sorry, I didn't check them yet." He said honestly. "For what? People always give homemade chocolate in Japan." Ms. Jefferies asked. "Not all girls have adult supervision when cooking in Japan and chocolate is often the first thing they teach themselves how to make so at times I'll find hair in it from it not being tied back or nail decorations." He shivered a bit. "I didn't find the ones from Machiko yet or I would have bought them." He added and looked at Clare. "This house contains a lot of my childhood memories, there are also videos of Makayla and I as well as pictures if you want to see. I don't have any of my by myself when I was in school. School pictures were often taken with Makayla, we'd take pictures together on picture day. She'd tell me when her class was going and I'd make an excuse to leave and I'd jump in when it was her turn, she did the same. We did get in trouble, but we kept it up by refusing to take it alone so they gave in." Kota laughed asnd walked to the kitchen to grab a drink for him and Clare. "Would you like to see pictures of Kota when he was growing up?" Ms. Jefferies asked looking at Clare.
