柔道 (Judo)Seoi nage (背負い投げ?) is a shoulder throw, one of the traditional forty throws of Judo as developed by Jigoro Kano. It belongs to the first group, Dai Ikkyo, of the traditional throwing list, Gokyo (no waza), of Kodokan Judo. It is also part of the current 67 Throws of Kodokan Judo. It is classified as a hand technique, Te-Waza.
The specific techniques of morote-seoi-nage (two hands seoi-nage) or eri-seoi are generally called seoi-nage. The distinctive technical aspect of this classification is that tori (the one executing the technique) grips with his two hands[1] as opposed to Ippon Seoi Nage in which only one hand remains gripping while the other slides under uke's (the one receiving the technique) armpit. Seoi nage is one of the highest-scoring techniques in Judo.[2] Renown seoinage martial artists are Isao Okano and Toshihiko Koga.

A very random ramble about fiction ideas... some which might could turn into fanfics lol
As a person who enjoys writing, I've made a few fanfics and a few original pieces of writing in my time... Funny, when I first started being on the internet, I didn't really fancy myself as a writer... but now? I think it's one of my passions... or at least, writing ties into my passion of creating characters, and building worlds for them. Whether that be some fanon (like Splatoon or Pokemon, ect) or my own original work. Creating or thinking about characters/fictional worlds is something that I think about on a daily basis, whether that entails trying to create fiction, or simply enjoying a walk through the realms of my imagination lol. I have all sorts of random ideas in mind... some that could have fanfic potential, and others are just dumb thoughts ig. These random ideas that could potentially be crafted into stories/scenarios include: A dumb fic/scenario idea of how my Undertale/Deltarune sona (who's a snow woman monster), might meet North Star/Starlo from UTY... Perhaps him and his family could be selling corn to the residents of Snowdin, in which my sona would get to know him as they sell their corn there... She'd get a huge dumb crush on him, but wait for him to ask her out because she's old fashioned... Later on, she notices that he's rather happy. And when she asks him why, he ends up telling her that he and his childhood crush are finally going out. Cue my sona to making a friendly/not rude excuse to go back home and then once returning home, proceeding to cry of heartbreak... In the end, this works for the best, because my sona prolly couldn't handle the climate of the dunes lol. (she also does her best to be happy for Starlo and Ceroba lol... after she mourns her heartbreak) ....I'd like to imagine the my sona and Starlo remain as friends by the end of the fic
And of course another fic idea I have that I would love to attempt is a Side Order fic... We honestly don't know much about Splatoon 3's Side Order yet BUT I'M HOPING AGENT 4 GETS CAUGHT UP IN IT... It would make for some great angst between Cryo and Tom. (Tom is my Agent 4 lol) ....Like perhaps Tom and Nestor (my Agents 4 and 8) would be going to Inkopolis Square for old time's sake or something.... Then the events of Side Order happens. Perhaps Tom and Nestor both go missing, and with her best friend Tom gone missing, Cryo goes to Inkopolis Square to investigate, only to be caught up in the Side Order antics as well! ....I imagine she and Nestor would play the role of Agent 8, with Nestor taking on missions by Daylight, and Cryo taking on missions by Moonlight... (in my Splatoon fanon, Cryo is known as Agent Ice) ...if the Splatbands make cameos as NPCs to rescue, and those NPCs included Ikkan and Warabi, that could potentially make for some fun interactions between Cryo and Tom! (since in my fanon, both Cryo and Tom are musicians and end up at least being friends with Ikkan and Warabi) ...tbh I've gotten so attached to my oc x canon ship Cryo x Ikkan, I might just make it canon to my fanon. And seeing Diss-Pair in Side Order, would give me the chance to see if such a silly ship could be viable to my fanon lol. (if not, then it could have the event of Ikkan rejecting Cryo's feelings and heartbreak ensues for the poor Octoling) SPEAKING OF IKKYO I definitely intend to continue the oc x canon fic, seeing as it's my favorite oc x canon ship of mine.... I can't help it, I ship them so hard. ;w; So much so, I might make it canon to my main fanon. I've got rough ideas for Chapters 4 and 5, as well as Chapter 3 being mainly done, just not posted lol. Speaking of Undertale, Undertale Yellow and Ikkyo, I have another dumb fiction idea that might not be turned into fanfiction, but it's fun to think about: Like an UT AU where the monsters and humans live on the surface, and maybe there's this fair/event for monsters and humans to maybe work together, like mentors and kids who look up to them? Like Clover looking up to Starlo, since he's a rootin tootin cowboy... (ok so he's still just a dweeb farmer who enjoys LARPing as a Sheriff, but they look up to him nonetheless) And Tom (who in my UT fanon does the role of Frisk) maybe looking up to Mettaton and wishing to take the stage, albeit by playing the saxophone rather than being a famous actor/star like Mettaton. And Cryo, who looks up to Ikkan (who might could be a squid monster in this AU?) who's the bassist of the band Diss-Pair. (in this scenario Ikkyo is not shipped romantically, but purely in a wholesome, platonic manner) Also it's fun to imagine Tom and Clover being friends and chilling out like pals... It's also fun to imagine how the kids would get along with their mentors, and how they might look up to them... Especially Starlo and Clover, like maybe he could be the cool farmer/cowboy uncle they never had and they enjoy playing Wild West with him as well as maybe helping him on his farm sometimes... Looking up to the funny star monster and aspiring to be like him someday~ I dunno man... imagining fictional scenarios is just too much fun for me lol
(Also just want to point out that any dynamics between adults and minors here are STRICTLY platonic, as we do not romantically ship adults and minors here!)

On Aiki, Static Wrist Grabs, and the Realities of True Basics vs Second Level Skills:
Aiki/Hapki arts have a lot of problems, and are often rightfully critiqued for their lack of realism. Chief among the problems facing these arts is their emphasis on the static wrist grab as a foray into learning basic techniques. Static wrist grabs lack intention and therefore give rise to resistance in every direction, which is either forcefully overcome or selectively muted by means of subtle hypnotic suggestion. Neither of these options provide the meaningful opportunity to learn how to harmonize with intent, and the transmission of fundamental skills therefore becomes murky when not (frequently even) entirely lost.
The reality is that wrist grabs are an opportunity to practice advanced skills on behalf of both uke and tori, and are actually poor starting places for beginners. A proper wrist seizure is a subtly dynamic encounter rather than a static or still moment to explore rudimentary motion. One must already have a working knowledge of the basic mechanics of the encounter that would give rise to a wrist seizure to provide a meaningful opportunity for practice.
If we understand Aiki arts to be rooted in sword work, the wrist seizure automatically becomes understandable only as a second level attack based on combative distance alone. The assumption of a wrist seizure is that a sword has already been (minimally) fully drawn, and the seizure is seeking to prevent further employment of a cut along those lines. For the wrist of tori to be seized in such a scenario the initial combative gap must have already been closed via the successful evasion of an initial cut. Hence foundational skills in the navigation of combative distance, evasive footwork, and entering maneuvers would have already been developed amidst the clarity of the intention of a sword cut or mimed empty hand variation thereof (such as shomen uchi).
Such a perspective might posit the best path forward as initiating the teaching of basic skills via a third option that is neither wrist seizure nor strike (or cut), but perhaps a didactic and neutral offering of instruction from an anatomically neutral position. And while this path might be more viable than continuing to attempt foundational instruction from the point of a static wrist grab, the inference to be understood here is that the very nature of fundamental skills should be re-examined.
Ikkyo (arm bar), nikyo (inside wrist lock), sankyo (spiral wrist lock), and kote gaeshi (outside wrist lock), for instance, are not in fact the foundational skills of the Aiki knowledge base. Rather, these are themselves second level skills to the true fundamentals of defensive covering, evasive body maneuvering, and the footwork that allows one to close the combative range while appropriately positioning oneself outside of the targeted position, and making initial harmonizing contact with uke.

Sensei‘s uke
So, a big seminar in the bigger city across the water has sucked quite a few students away from our dojo for the weekend - leaving me the highest ranked student in Chio sensei's class. Chio sensei asked me to lead the warmups, which I've only done once before. I had brainfreeze moments, but actually managed to recover both times. A really, really weird realization in retrospect is that I was not worried about everyone watching me screw up, but about the continuity of their warmup. It's a good thing that social anxiety disorder no longer controls every aspect of my life - at least, not all the time. But I also spent the class as sensei's uke, and I'm glad I know to remind myself that the class is probably paying more attention to sensei than to me. Being sensei's uke means you have to move with the unknown, without predicting it. Partway through a technique, sensei may stop to highlight a particular point in the form. Going into reverse is also a possibility. Chio sensei spent the class on blending with the elbow of an attacker. If it's going up, push up with it. If it's coming down, come down with it. if it's coming in, turn and go with it. And always go at the same speed as the attack, not faster and not slower. We covered irimi nage, ude osae, and explored variations in attacking distance. After class, Lily asked for more help with ushiro ukemi, and she's got the left side good. There's always one side that's better than the other, and depending on the form, it's not always the same side.
