I won so much this past weekend it's unreal. how am I supposed to focus on exams.

I still can't get the unused concept art of Wish out of my head so I've been reading a lot of rewrites and looking at a lot of Wish redesigns...

So... I got inspired. I'm currently conceptualizing my own Wish "rewrite/redesigns", but with a twist. It's gonna be a spiritual "prequel", cuz idk I feel like being meta since we'll be using the original concepts before the final concepts/decisions made for the final movie XD

Many of my "prequel" characters will be stand-ins for the canon characters! So "Asha" will be renamed "Amala", "Magnifico" will be called "Mamoun", and so on. Think of Pokemon Legends: Arceus regarding the relations of these "OCs" with the canon characters.

Anyway, here are the designs I have so far! I only have the designs for Amala and the Star for now. Hopefully, I can get to draw the other characters soon, especially Mamoun and his wife.

The story will be called "Once Upon a Wish"

Here's an overview of what I have so far... Some details may change if I feel like my other choices serve the story better. (Also, small disclaimer, this is just a veryyy self-indulgent AU made by yours truly, so some details may not be accurate with the canon lore present in Wish)

The story takes place on the same island of Rosas, but from many years ago. If my research is right, canon Wish takes place in the 1200s, so maybe my "prequel" can take place in around the 900s-1000s. Rosas definitely wasn't called Rosas back then, but I'm still figuring out what to call it so I'm just gonna refer to it as "an island".

Amala is a shy, meek, but hardworking apprentice of the island's head sorcerer Mamoun (hence, her color palette looks similar to Mickey's outfit from The Sorcerer's Apprentice). Despite all her hard work in her magic studies, she doesn't really excel at using magic, making a lot of accidents during training. If there's anything she really excels at, it's the act of storytelling (She can draw/animate, sing, and write stories like fairy tales).

Amala also has a little sister Ayah, who I can imagine is the Lilo/Anna to Amala's Nani/Elsa. Ayah is spunky and cheerful, but she has an illness that makes her disabled. The sisters are orphans, but they live under an old family friend they affectionately call Grandpa Dabir. Dabir is a retired bard turned doctor who was part of a troupe with 6 other former bards, all of whom he and the sisters still interact.

I don't really know much about battling or just general information on how to care for pokemon because I don't really have any, but something I've always wanted to know: do pokemon centers treat injuries like broken bones? is there a difference between a center and a vet's office?

this is a great question!

pokemon centers are great for helping pokemon recover from mild-to-moderate battling injuries/fatigue and mild illnesses. think of them like a walk-in clinic for pokemon. the vast majority of people who see them are going to be trainers, but you can also see them for the little injuries your pets get! pokemon center nurses are also generally trained in human first aid and are also able to help starting trainers get on their feet. some larger pokemon centers also double as emergency hospitals.

your veterinarians are for dealing with more severe injury and illness (e.g. surgical procedures and round-the-clock care). they're also who you're going to go to for getting regular updates on your pokemon's health and wellbeing, management of chronic conditions, help with behavioral issues, and other problems that require more attention.

sometimes people use them interchangeably, especially when referrring to those pokemon centers that keep veterinarians on staff, but they do technically serve different purposes. they're also both incredibly important and difficult jobs, and both are worthy of respect! pokemon center nurses are no less important or well-trained than licensed veterinarians; they just serve a different population.

Agatha Christie’s Great Detectives Poirot and Marple - A young detective related to famous detective Miss Marple joins other famous detective Hercule Poirot as his assistant and learns from these two legendry mentors to solve murders. I love detective shows but I'm not too familiar with Poirot and Miss Marple so maybe the show could serve as an introduction to them. It seems cozy but compelling! The lead writer worked on a bunch of the big popular serieses (Pokemon Sun & Moon, Fairy Tail, Death Note, and Anpanman). This one's a legacy inclusion!

Blue Gender - A man from the modern day with a strange illness goes into cryosleep and wakes up in a destroed earth where mechs and aliens fight and there is a cool tall woman who has a mech. It has gore, mechs which I do need to see more of, but it's a military series. Space's also listed in the genre stuff which...is that a spoiler, do they go to space? 26 episodes, so it's on the longer side, less diligence may apply. This one's a legacy inclusion!

Dirty Pair - 80s anime, two Hotted Boobhaving space agents fight and bicker their way through the galaxy in a distinctly 'two bi women constantly getting divorced' vibe. I don't remember if this one is a legacy inclusion, but it's a famous show!

Scrapped Princess - Fantasy setting, A local white girl doomed to destroy the world and her adoptive siblings travel the world to avoid her devastating fate. also... There's mechs?? Wikipedia tells me it’s a lighthearted but mournful show that uses Clarke’s third law to bridge the gap between scifi and high fantasy. This one was handpicked by a dear friend!

Texhnolyze - by the creators of Serial Experiments Lain, it’s a show that seems similarly angsty and cerebral but much grimier. A boxer gets dismembered, cyborgized, and possibly radicalized deep in the bowels of a city that never sees the sun. ALSO GACKT IS THERE?

R.O.D. READ OR DIE -THE TV- - a potentially jojoish, gay little show about a novelist with a heady mix of hubris and self-loathing and three bibliophile sisters with Paper Abilities fighting various goons and also Britain. It seems like a romp!

Captain Earth - In the vein of Super Sentai (sadly without the precious masks), a color coded group of teens that seems to include a Yaoibait Kaworu fight aliens on behalf of NASA, with a robot that has a REALLY big hat. Supposedly it’s got a lot of intellectual depth!

RahXephon - the second name on everyone’s lips when someone says Evangelion Rip-off, after Darling in the Franxx. Mechs that are blatantly angels, a JSDF, and blue-blooded men in black. I tried a bit, and it’s got a great capture of humanity in times of crisis and such a beautifully 2000s aesthetic.

Devilman Lady - what if you were Devilman and a Lady??? What if there was a blond woman and you were a beast and there was all this blood and violence. Psychological, grungy, and gorgeously 90s. And it's a yuri!!!

Chrno Crusade - Cisgender Bridget and a devilboy (no relation to devilman or devilmanlady) do exorcisms for an order of nuns in 1929 New Yawk Citay. It's a het romance, full of bumbling and comedy and period era ghostbustiness. Also for some reason in a lot of the art (like this one) Chrno is whitewashed?

1: Emoji Design Fun - this is more ooc wise and would have no ic elements. you guys send a pokemon species and an emoji, and i'll design that pokemon based on the emoji. send it off anon or @ your blog in the ask and you can keep the design. every design i get on anon will be gathered at the end and people can nab them first come first serve. pokemon can be be different colour morphs/coat patterns, hybrids, or just different breeds for stuff. if you get one of the designs, you can use it for pkmn irl or out of it. i dont really care as long as you credit me for the creach's design. if you do use it in pkmn irl you will have to figure out how your character got the pokemon though as once again this would be purely ooc and maple would not be responsible for giving your character the pokemon. mostly just a way for me to flex my designing muscles and have some fun.

2: Maples Mom Takeover - A non canonical event where maple's mom gets access to the blog for the day. the validity of what she says however may be canon may not. mostly just a fun way i might be able to reveal more about her than i would otherwise, although the takeover happening wont be mentioned afterwards.

3: Tami Takeover - I just let maples absol have the blog for shits and giggles. maybe she'll give you a new perspective on things, maybe she wont. she might even introduce completely new info, who knows! everything would be translated by maples rotom.

4: PMD AU Takeover - An au takeover of pmd maple. would also be non canonical and not mentioned later on. idk if id do canon pmd or the original pmd world from @vital-spirit (the pmd blog i run with friends). either ill decide later or do a second poll if this one wins

Geeta Team Tweaks

Continuing off my Nemona post: I am Geeta's strongest soldier but her team sucks. Not in the sense that it doesn't have a theme or is ill-fitting, but it just doesn't exude the level of badassery that she deserves. I thought it would be fun to explore different ways of building her team that highlight interesting and underutilized Paldean pokemon and explore a new angle theme wise. Under the cut bc these get long

So Geeta's whole thing is the beauty and diversity of Paldea, shown by her pokemon that represent each of the provinces. However, I think it would be a little more fun if instead, Geeta's team represents the very peak of Paldea-- made entirely of hard to find, powerful, and elusive pokemon that the player only would have seen if they explored every nook and cranny. Not only does it make Geeta look badass, but it serves a meta purpose: those who truly love paldea and spend longer exploring the region can more easily defeat her because they know what to expect, while those who blast through the story will be met with unfamiliar pokemon who can wipe them out

Glimmora: I think she should lead with Glimmora, but that the pokemon should be used in all her promotional material and be the pokemon most closely associated with her. In the same way that Pawmot isn't Nemona's ace in the game but is the Pokemon she's associated with most, I think it should be the same for Geeta. Also, I think the way you find Glimmora should be tweaked so that Geeta having one is more special. As it stands, Glimmora connecting Geeta to area zero is something the player can only find out after the battle with her, which dampens the intrigue. Plus, it can be found easily in some caves, which doesn't make it an unknown or a threat. Instead, I propose that Glimmet / Glimmora only be found in a single spot in Paldea-- a hidden alcove in one of the caves where crystals from area zero are starting to grow. By having a pokemon that spawns only in a rare and out of the way location, players who explore are rewarded because they know how to handle it. Either way, Geeta owning this rare pokemon that most have probably never seen immediately makes her seem badass and mysterious

Espathra -> Amarouge / Celruedge: The fact that these things aren't used in any main story battles and that Celruedge doesn't appear on a team at all is a genuine crime, so I'm fixing it. Also, as cool as Espathra is, it's associated more closely with Tulip, so I don't think it's good for Geeta to have a repeat member like that. The sword boys, on the other hand, are uncommon, powerful, and badass, and serve to highlight Geeta's strength and mastery over the pokemon of the region to the point where she can evolve pokemon like Charcadet that very rarely see evolution. She would have the one that corresponds to your version (Armarogue in Scarlet, Celruedge in Violet)

Gogoat -> Paldean Tauros (Aqua or Blaze): You know how I mentioned in my Nemona team post that she would have a Paldean Tauros in her team, which is implied to be her previous ace? Yeah that's because of Geeta. Nemona looks up to Geeta a lot, and I figured Nemona's Paldean Tauros is actually inspired by Geeta's Paldean Tauros. However, while Nemona's Tauros is the breed that corresponds to the version you're playing, Geeta has the one that corresponds to the Opposite Version (Aqua Breed in Scarlet, Blaze Breed in Violet), ensuring that you're facing a new and surprising threat during your champion fight

Avalugg -> Gholdengo: Imma be honest I do not think Gholdengo fits her vibes at all, but it's not used by anyone in the game and that's pitiful. It's powerful and cool, which also fits for a champ. Also, it fits with the same theme of exploration-- without scaling the watchtowers and searching Paldea for coins, you won't be able to evolve a Gholdengo and have little idea of what you're facing

Veluza -> Rabsca: Uhhhhh honestly I just wanted a cool looking pokemon that wasn't a repeat from another NPC's team. This felt like a good pick AND uses the let's go feature, so it fits with the exploration theme too

Kingambit: This is a good pick, it should have been last, you've heard this a million times. The big thing about Kingambit, however, is that I think it should take advantage of unusual tera types. Since Geeta doesn't have a type specialization, you go into the battle having NO idea what her ace might be. and uh. I don't either. Fairy, maybe? idk I don't play comp I'm here for themes and motifs

Anyway, that's all for Geeta! This is a pretty big overhaul, and I'm curious to see if anyone else had ideas for alternate versions of her team

So how does the pokeroid AI work one may ask, allow me to tell you what is there to know about it!

About Pokeroid AI

The pokeroid ai module is the other important part of Pokeroid anatomy, its basically the brain of these robotic pokemon! how they work is alot more complex for most so ill shorten up for all of you! This AI is consisted of three smaller parts. the logic board, the emotion chip, and the power chip! they all harmonize to make the pokeroid AI function as a whole. A Logic board processes the all behavioral and emotional data alongside some other minor data collection, as well as be the main connector to both chips. its the main component that is needed to make both chips functions, as well as allow the adaptive thinking of a pokeroid to manifest

next the Emotion chip. its the main purpose is to provide emotional data to the logic systems, allowing the pokeroid to feel emotion at their own will, as well as making them let them make their own choices. without it the logic board cannot function with pure logic nor the AI will be optimal in its functioning.

and lastly the power chip! its serves to regulate the Q.drive, without one the power regulation will be unoptimized and become unstable, causing the pokeroid to fluctuate in power as well running low in energy.

Mudbray/mudsdale line headcannons please?

Mudsdale have been used for labor for hundreds of years, though recently they've been phased out in favor of machinery. Training them can be very difficult, however, as they are incredibly stubborn.

The mud on a Mudbray can technically be washed off, but they strongly dislike this and may leave their trainer over it. It's recommended they not be bathed unless absolutely required.

Pottery made from Mudsdale's clay-like mud used to be an extremely expensive luxury item only owned by kings due the difficulty of getting said mud before training was commonplace. It's much more common nowadays.

Some breeders have attempted to crossbreed the line with Galarian Rapidash. The resulting offspring hybridize frequently, but said hybrids can't reproduce. (Non-hybrid offspring, however, are able to breed normally.)

Some older civilizations modeled their war helmets after Mudsdale's mane, due to the importance the Pokemon served in their culture.

In some areas, Mudbray were nearly hunted to extinction. While the population has recovered in most regions, there's still catching limits in some areas.

The amount of mud these Pokemon produce, combined with their stubbornness and the amount of food they need for their size, makes them ill-fitting for beginning trainers.

Hey, Durango here - I'm so glad the semester is almost over (finals here we go) because now I can do an intro. ADHD be damned:

Writing Wise-

. Sci-fi, queer stories, trauma themes, mentally ill characters (especially main characters), friendships, romance served as a side dish, androids/robots, redemption arcs, creatures, dragons, angsty plots, falls-from-grace, happy endings (?), edgy elements - I want it all.

. ADHD burnout has shoved me down it's throat. I really want to engage with writing more and other writers, but I'm a chronic looks-at-your-message-and-doesnt-respond person, idk why - I'm working on it. That being said-

Kayde Screams at Pokémon: Sableye

to clarify, this is a follow-up to this post. i chose this first Pokémon because of a certain @/pokemon-cards-hourly, and i may use them to make more

Sableye!! this lil bastard!! #0302 in the 'dex

i browsed the Pokédex and these are the facts i gleamed-

they live in caverns, lead quiet lives, they're feared for supposedly stealing spirits, they're seen only rarely, and they lurk in darkness

they eat rocks and gems, the substances from eaten rocks crystallize on its body, its gemstone diet transforms its eyes into gemstones, and its favorite food is Carbink (another Pokémon)

they dig through the ground with their sharp claws, their eyes sparkle in darkness, they feed on gemstone crystals, and they have hard claws and thick pointy teeth

during their mega evolution, the crystal on their torso grows and becomes a gigantic shield, but that limits movement

and now, screaming time

firstly, the reason organic organisms consume food is to gain nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, or proteins. rocks and crystals (rocks are just a conglomerate of crystals) do not contain any such nutrients. additionally, the digestion of such minerals would be extraordinarily challenging for any biological organism.

secondly, it keeps saying that the eyes have transformed into gemstones due to its diet. what the fuck does that mean??? the eye is comprised of delicate tissues, like the retina, cornea, and all of the photoreceptors in the back of the eye, all of these work together to give the brain a clear vision, and they're super finicky, as evident by the fact that there are so many fucking vision problems. it clearly states that the eye transforms into the gemstone because of the diet, similar to a flamingo's feathers turning pink from their shrimp diet. but but that would be turning a complex, very finicky organic eye into an inorganic one through some process??? that isn't possible, especially not with enough precision to craft such finely-cut diamond-looking eyes as we see in the picture.

thirdly, the Pokédex thinks its important to repeat over and over the supposed fact that Sableye can steal people's spirits- i can ramble on and on about this specifically, but ill keep it short. if you're making an entry in a scientific database, keep the folklore out of it unless you can prove it! literally just include one "but there is ongoing studies seeking to test this claim" and ill let it slide, but no! don't put that nonsense next to its habitat and diet! its ridiculous!! this isn't to say i don't believe in spirits in the Pokémon world because i know those exist, (also in the real world), but if you're going to put it into the Pokédex, don't leave room for wiggle room- either it steals spirits or it doesn't. clarify that! in your friggin'!!! scientific database!!!!!!!

fourthly when something is digested, it is broken down, and the pokedex leads me to believe that in the sableye, the gems appear on the outside of the creature whole??? what, is it teleported??? how could inorganic matter crystallize on the surface of a creature? and what purpose does that even serve? wouldn't that be wasting the materials it apparently worked so hard to find so it could eat?

fifthly, and this is kind of a gripe about Pokémon in general, its use of the term 'evolution' has poisoned it forever. like, the amount of creationists i've spoken to who go "but a cat cant give birth to a dog" is unbelievable- evolution occurs in populations over time, and instead, in Pokémon, it happens in one creature in a matter of moments. a-fucking-huh???? some of these are more believable, like the metamorphosis of a caterpillar into a butterfly, but mega evolutions are too fucking weird!!! there's no goddamn way a creature could just- become as large as a building in a matter of seconds, and the fact that the gems grow in size too despite being inorganic?? how is that- hhhh????

cuz, and this will become evident in other entries in this series, the pokedex will just say shit!! and not think about the ramifications!! grgrgrgrgr!!!

Didn’t have enough time to finish before the end of the Spooky Season, but I’ve been working on revamping the designs for Phido, Vagabones, and Colosskull!  They’ve given me a lot of trouble but I think they’re soooo close. 

I also developed a bit of flavor for them:

Phido are lonely Pokemon who seek companionship.  They steal and horde bones, forcing their restless spirits to keep them company.  It has the ability to phase through walls, but its bones do not.  If spooked, they may discard their bones to flee.  It is generally considered unwise to pick up loose bones, as a Phido may attempt to retrieve them.

As it collects more bones, it evolves into Vagabones.  Vagabones is tormented by the angered spirits whose bones have been desecrated, wishing to be laid to rest.  Their malice gives the Pokemon unique powers, if it can control them.  Because it often acts upon the whims of these spirits, It can often be found wandering aimlessly and without direction, as if indecisive of its destination.

Colosskull has collected the bones of strong Pokemon, giving it their power.  It and its collection of spirits have agreed to use this power to serve as a guardian to lost souls who have not yet departed this Earthly realm.  It can often be found guarding unmarked graves, attacking trespassers of whom it senses ill intent.   However, it has not lost its friendly nature; it makes friends and plays with the spirits it guards.

Hehe, hoohoo my hdhd made me draw some silly little guys >:3c lmao i couldnt focus much last night and just drew whatever idea popped into my head first, which was was 12 year old Hassel, Brassius, and Larry. Some headcanons under the cut :)

Hassel

He is not a natural blond. Yeah he dyes his hair, no shame to it though. When he ran away at 15, that's when he starts to dye his hair. Sort of as a way to further separate himself from his old life. He would also experiment with strips of color, but as he got older he stuck with plain blond.

His starter was an Axew, who still serves on his team as a Haxorus. He's affectionately named him Siegfried. He's raised Siegfried since he was an egg, a tradition in his family. He also caught himself a Dratini with the help of Siegfried, which he named Ezra. Ezra remains on his team to this day, now fully evolved into a Dragonite.

Brassius

Pretransition Brassius wore so much baggy clothes at this age. Many, MANY hoodies. Cargo pants and jeans a size too big so he'd have a sag and would have to wear a belt too. Made him feel comfortable. He's lucky his mom was understanding enough to just assume he liked how loose it felt and not pester him into telling him the real reason. He would come out to his mom eventually, and she would support him every step of the way, but at this point he wasn't ready. He took on the gym challenge, but stopped half way due to getting way too focused on a sculpture...

The first pokemon he ever caught was at the age of nine, and it was a Sunkern. He never named her himself, but his mom called her Sunshine or Sunny often as a nickname. This Sunkern would grow into a Sunflora, who would unfortunately fall ill to a common illness amongst grass types and pass away during the worst slumps of Brassius' life, sending him deeper into a depressive art block. She became one of inspirations for Brassius' most viewed and well known art work, Surrendering Sunflora. Brassius would vow not to use another Sunflora, or Sunkern, on his team ever out of respect for his fallen friend.

Larry

If you asked any other trainer taking part in the Unovan gym challenge, they'd tell you they had no idea Larry was even taking part. He didn't exactly put too much effort into battling the gyms or passing trainers. He only really started the challenge to level up his then Staravia. as is per all my aus i create in my head (i have a lot), yellow is of course the inquisitor. i see her as a rift mage lavellan. lavellan bc yellow being integrally connected to nature like the dalish are is important to her character. i see her as a mage for spirit healing and the fact she has legit powers in canon (telekinesis and such) and rift mage to represent her connection w pokemon as a connection to the fade/spirits.

red is definitely warrior. i see his character as a similar role to cullen. cullen is a seasoned templar who is a solid leader and trains troops (one can see green (m) in this role but this is a special au and not a feeling one lol). red is the de facto leader of the dex holders and that carries over. cullen and red’s physical trauma (lyrium addiction/withdrawal and paralysis of wrists and ankles) has a similar carry over.

in my mind, each gen would have one of each class (mage, rogue, or warrior)

i do think that the kanto quartet should serve as the inky and advisors but while i think blue could be good in leliana’s spymaster role, i don’t think green makes for a very good josephine. josephine is a diplomat who does all of the talking for the inquisition. i do think green would do good at this especially considering he is a public figure both as a dex holder and a gym leader. i think the personality difference is keeping me from really seeing it

i can see blue and silver as rogues. with blue as an artificer (traps and gadgets) and silver as an assassin. i could also see-story wise-them as apostates who fled the circle (led by pryce) and were on the run before the mage rebellion.

gold is def warrior and crystal i do see as a mage. i’m stealing this from dragon age 2 but crys would make a solid force mage. gold would likely be a champion.

i have kinda more abt the other gens but the one ill say is the lowkey equivalent of interpol for rakutsu would be the qun. he was raised in interpol and goes undercover for their interests. it has a similar energy

considering clan lavellan and kirkwall are both in the free marches, there could be a whole moment pre-inquisition where they meet. he could save her from a tal-vashoth attack. she could heal him after he deals with abominations or demons. and they meet again after the conclave, under stressful circumstances

Introduction

Hi everyone im Veronica but because of the weird limit on trainer licenses mine just says V, and this is where im going to document my attempt to take the Unova gym challenge Im 24 From Sinnoh but Ive been Kinda lost lately and my family in Unova recommended i make the trip and wander around Unova to Get back to my old self. I brought my Mareep from home Sprye as my partner, my plan is to use this blog to just... have a record of the journey so fail or succeed i can always look back at it and know how far ive come (ooc after the break)

This is my first attempt at something like this its a rp blog thats also serving as me documenting a nuzlock of pokemon black 2, Im not sure how much of the story of the game ill be implementing we will cross that road when we get there I edited my save to add Mareep as my starter, Feel free to send asks where events happen or just to poke Veronica about her progress through Unova we're trying to stick as close to game cannon as posible so while ill be Semi following nuzlock rules pokemon wont be Dying i probably honestly wont box them but i will be following the "one per route" rule because this is a storytelling exercise more than anything else.
