Quick Shot
A very quick one today. Busy season is still upon us, unfortunately.
And we're also in the middle of an algorithm slump over on Insta - with our posts getting recommended less than usual, and engagement down as a result.
So what better way to combat that than posting something that traditionally doesn't do great!
But I don't care. I love these little figures. And the bootleg-inspired colorways on these Universal Monsters are right in my wheelhouse.
These toys scratch a similar itch to mass-retail Sofubi for me - simplified designs, creatively designed, and fun colors - the purest example of what makes a toy.

Full disclosure- I hate the way these pictures came out. This was from the last shoot I did before I bought the new lights I showed off back on [May 26th] - The lighting in my apartment gives my shots this awful green and yellow tint.
Usually I can combat this with creative lighting angles and post-processing. But this one wouldn't budge. And all the digital editing on the world couldn't save it.
But now that's a thing of the past. Two multi-colored fill in lights have made this prices so much better. I can't wait to show those new shots!

My pick:
Izuka Hoyle as Aludra
(I was pissed her character - some random darkfriend - had all of one episode in the show. She deserved a better role.)

In the city of Neon, two rival groups clashed, their motives shrouded in mystery. The Illuminators, seeking truth and justice, faced off against the Shadows, protectors of hidden secrets. In the heart of the city, a crime unraveled, tearing at the fabric of society. With each step taken, suspense grew, as whispers echoed through the streets. Amidst the chaos, a hero emerged, their identity unknown, to reveal the truth and restore order in this futuristic world. The conflict raged on, but hope shone like a beacon, cutting through the darkness.

Everyone liked the color charts I test printed for Basilisk so much, I felt compelled made a nice version! Great for anyone that has an interest in Risograph printing, historical pigments, or weird medieval marginalia.

One of my favorite figures period from the last five years. And I'll keep showing it off until you all like it!
But seriously, this checks all my boxes. Wild colors, obscure toy reference (bootleg costumes and neon model kits) small, and well sculpted.
These are showing up discounted at a lot of stores, so if you can find one then I highly recommend it. It looks incredible in a display.

And with that, I'm all caught up. I need to maintain a better posting schedule on here! I'll get there - especially as I whittle down which apps I'm active on.

gonna put the progress of this thing in its own post
so we start with references
then i figure out my layouts and start sketchin, putting the text down first after initial drafting
then i gotta fully flesh out all of the illustrative bits with pencil sketching. we got the holy gritty with his holy hockey staff and flyers pendant, little bits of orange dashed onto there, designing the flyers logo wherever i can
then we get black inking on there, bit more orange as well. normally i get kinda heartbroken when I smear a bit of ink here or there by mistake, even patch to fix mistakes sometimes.
But I'm gonna be real. The small blots match too well with the overall energy of the piece
the next image will be the fully completed piece!
