This doodle was a journey so ramble below the cut.

Original idea was obviously a cuddle pile. As in previous comics Miguel prefers loose pajamas of superior quality and also sleeping curled into pretzel because at least the spider genetics gave him a bendy spine so he actually can sleep like that without repercussions.

Wade is obviously in the middle enjoying being a filling of that sandwich (and also pin cushion). Again same clothes as in previous comics sans the mask and also deadfang logo since one: im lazy and two: that would be rude.

Logan has the most idgaf approach to sleeping, just loose some clothes and then terrorize everybody with his mighty old man snore.

As for drawing itself. ehhh... Obviously since it's on paper, shitty one at that, i couldn't (and also was to lazy too) redraw mistakes like Migs hands being firmly on Wade's stomach while cutting into it.

Then for lineart i used a fude fountain pen which actually turned out decent but then I decided to add some shadows and yeah. The ink inside fountain pen was very very very not water proof. Also shitty paper didn't like water. Actually the effect is steel bleeding through as "shadows" and also adds volume to Logan's fluffiness.

So it looked terrible at that point so i decided that hey, it can't get any worse and pulled out my Arrtx acrylic markers I bought on a whim thanks to my work bonus. They are actually ok quality for the price. But to make the price match there is not actually that much paint inside (which is visible along the top part of the picture). Turns out I'm not a fan of their brush nib (while usually I love them) but they worked for a quick doodle much better that usual markers.

The final pass through was with just a regular ball pen and everything kinda looked ok. I really like how Logan looks :)

while King Candy has a lisp, i think it's a coverup for his actual voice because of how goofy and recognizable it is. Overall its the same as his regular voice, he just gets silly with it. i noticed that he still does retain some of his lisp when hes screaming his lungs out at Vanellope, however, so maybe he genuinely does have a lisp that makes itself known when furious :3

pre-publishing notes for slider (actually i meant to poast this yesterday i just forgor 💀), just to put them out there

as per usual i peddle an extreme amount of mis- and straight up disinformation about the aerospace & defense industries in this one. as a general rule of thumb if it sounds like i researched it poorly and/or made it up, that’s because i researched it poorly and/or made it up. like every scene i was like ‘that wouldn’t happen :D’ and wrote it anyway

this one-shot renders my third one-shot (about ice & hangman) entirely obsolete, as if the rooster one-shot didn’t already do that. so just ignore the hangman one. (i only wrote that one cause i felt bad about tagging my fics hangster when they’re barely in it.) Also, this one-shot kind of directly contradicts the end scene of “debriefing” in pretty much every way. i don’t really care, because this is a much stronger ending, but just throwing that out there—this one-shot doesn’t really jive with my other writing for plot/character arc reasons & im too lazy/sick and tired of my other writing to go back and retcon any of it

i only research things i am mandated to by school/a job/journalistic code of ethics, or that i think are interesting, or that i know will not depress me. divorce depresses me so i did not research divorce. Also im pretty sure marriage doesn’t work the way i described it “sign the papers & that’s it” but idgaf . shrug. im having fun

In a similar vein just so i can beat the allegations that im strategically dumb, the “strategies” against the ussr the boys are playing with in the usna section are intentionally the most dogshit strategies on earth. do not invade russia in a land war. especially not when nukes are on the table. the point is they’re ALL bad at strategy (strat as a metaphor for interpersonal communication).

i get the words “moderate” and “modulate” confused a lot. there’s a couple times in this one when I use moderate and mean modulate. Now it’s too late to edit it. by which i mean i am too lazy. editing anything on ao3 is a Sisyphean task. not worth it.

there's a lot to be said about my ice & maverick's respectability, which is to say, as slider points out, their life together is incredibly normie and boring and regular, except that they're two guys. like there's nothing super subversive going on here. "in the grand scheme of things is this really so bad?" is the question. politically this is a little funky. for metatextual character-arc reasons ice has to agree to an official marriage to prove that by the end he's not afraid to legally legitimize their relationship, but the heteroflexible/straight-passing/socially conservative ice & mav that I have written also probably aren't the kind of guys to acknowledge the struggle & strife & subversiveness of the queer community before them that fought for them to have that right. to quote from an essay by Lauren berlant & Michael Warner ("Sex in public"): "Respectable gays [ice & mav, distancing themselves from other gays] like to think that they owe nothing to the sexual subculture they think of as sleazy. But their success, their way of living, their political rights, and their very identities would never have been possible but for the existence of the public [visibly queer] sexual culture they now despise." just throwing that out there as something that is weighing on my mind having now finished writing this. I think that issue (ice & mav's relationship with/debt to the lgbt community) could be explored with a character like rooster, who might be much more a part of that struggle (especially pre-dadt-repeal)...but idk where or how I would write about it. just something to chew on. I keep finding different ways to politically interpret what I myself have already written which then keeps leading to more fucking one-shots. This slider one for instance was a reinterpretation from the 1980s Cold War politics lens of nuclear doomsday & how that affected a generation of men making shitty/suicidal decisions about their lives. an endless cycle for me. I promise my tone is not malicious and I come in peace. This is in regards to the likes/reblogs situation. One of the issues that gets lost in the arguments for why reblogs died down is because, when this site was crawling with over zealous individuals who thought they were fighting the crusades, many people would get attacked over art or a post they didn’t tolerate. And no I’m not talking about actual bad stuff but like dumb things like not necessarily shipping a fandom’s main ship or adult content for actual adult ships and so on. God forbid some of us don’t follow the made up fandom rules. Some of us aren’t even trying to be an active part of those circles, we just wanted to reblog pretty pictures, cool art styles, or neat short fics. Like it was never that deep or real for some of us, it was just a little hit of dopamine, ya know? I’ve since removed myself from all fandom experiences as it’s just less hurtful that way. The other issue that also contributed greatly was the purge. So many artists had to abandon this sinking ship and I don’t blame them. So many of them relied on commissions and stuff and it sucked that they got hurt more than one way. The whole situation sucks, I’m sorry 😞

I can understand not wanting to reblog for fear of getting stuck in some discourse and I was very saddened by the purge when so many great creative blogs quit tumblr for good.

I totally get having anxiety about reblogging as well. Its a stronger commitment to just liking something. But you can set up as many anonymous side blogs as you want and reblog stuff on there if it helps with the anxiety, and as always just ignore the discourse. Ive had 2 posts "breach containment" and some of the absolutely brainless comments i get on those posts are enough to set my blood pressure rising... but I ignore them because its not worth the effort to argue with a stranger on the internet imo. Nowadays idgaf about fandom discourse. Im just here vibing in my own little world and I'll be having as much fun here as possible. so g’rhetta’s cool X scar, right? she’s got some weird metaphysical stuff going on with it. im gonna list some ScarFacts(tm).

it’s evidence of the wound that caused her first death—a shot straight through the chest from a garlean legatus. the scar has no aether, so anyone using aethersight would just see a big hole, but it’s actually bursting with dynamis. the dynamis leak is what allows her to use limit breaks.

she becomes known as “G’rhetta of the Bleeding Heart” in heavensward because she starts wearing an outfit that brings a lot of attention to it (though the average person wouldn’t know it’s on both sides). she hides it in ARR because she’s kinda insecure about it but by HW she’s firmly in her idgaf era. and she’s had other deaths by then so she’s less cagey about her extreme healing factor.

y’shtola obvs notices it when she gets back from her little lifestream vacay and is equal parts fascinated and horrified. like she lowkey wants to see if she can stick her hand through it, for research purposes, but she’s also like “oh no my good friend has a hole in her body that’s not good.” they end up becoming close enough to think of each other romantically in part because of y’shtola’s interest in the weird scar. y’shtola also ends up being the first scion to figure out how to channel g’rhetta’s limit break energy, but she has no idea what kind of energy she’s interacting with at the time. she and g’rhetta go into endwalker thinking it must be some kind of latent hydaelyn magic.

g’rhetta starts using a stolen (“liberated!”) garlean gunblade instead of a regular PLD sword towards the end of stormblood too. that’s only tangentially related to the scar but it’s thematically appropriate for this post.

Sexuality Headcanon: bisexual. mai is actively acknowledged as a villain (she’s objectively a villain idg ppl’s hang up on that). maybe she does more bad shit w azula and/or shows more amusement at chasing the gaang, zuko, and iroh & doing general villain stuff or just regular canon behavior idgaf. either way, she still betrays azula at boiling rock BUT not because she’s doing it to save zuko. she’s doing it because she actually realizes the fn is wrong — i'm thinking from a buildup starting w colonizing ba sing se and, more specifically, azula killing aang (a whole 12 year old), the final straw being tbr.

mai tells azula “i love my country more than i love you” when she betrays her (no because it’d hit if it was the first time mai or azula said i love you). azula replies something alone the lines of “well maybe you should have feared me.” and then yeah all that shit. also! this could lead into mai lee. yknow with ty lee saving mai and mai actually seeing what she did was wrong.

and then katara can help get zuko ready for the coronation because it's more meaningful and also completely ooc for katara to leave him alone for more than three seconds after he literally risked his life for her.

yeah idk i just think it would make mai a much more dynamic character and give her the beginning of a legitimate redemption.
