Every now and then I find an artwork that I just can't help but adore. I absolutely adore your Chara drawing. I'm also an artist myself, though I'm unsure how to draw the stuff that I actually like. Do you perhaps have any tips or advice, some resources I could take a look at...? I mean it's fine if you don't, I know not everyone is able to always explain their artistic process, but I still have to ask, heh.

thank you so much!!! im really glad you liked that drawing. and its no trouble at all, artists should try to help each other out ehehe. you're right that it might be difficult to explain my resources, but maybe since you specifically asked abt the chara one i can explain the process.

this piece i drew it like its most traditional to, the last pieces (the p5 ones and kris) were all sketched out and rendered heavily using lasso fill. this time i just started sketching some charas to take a break from another drawing.. as u can see i had two doodles originally but i felt like i wanted the viewers eye to travel through more focal points, so i started rearranging the composition. i wanted a mix of cuteness with underlying intensity/terror, so i already knew the geno chara would be a bit more "faded out". thats all i did for composition.

now in terms of the actual drawing and coloring process, i always do a mix of lineart and lineless (for this both the lineart and coloring layer are at some point merged so i can "sculpt" and shape the forms and colors easier). this is a lot of trial and error to see what parts really do require lines and make it more eyecatching, especially if you are strategic with the line weight. with lineart you run into the possibility of making a drawing more detailed than you had envisioned, lately ive been trying to go for "less is more", so i forewent a lot of the details and instead i REALLY focused on making these doodles as "shaped" as possible, for better examples of this id cite my previous two drawings because the lasso tool lets me explore that more (less constrictive than simply drawing the shapes yourself).

and the colors? with chara its easy, they have a very restrictive palette so after i lay down the colors i try and find a color for the lines which plays off of said colors (blue seemed interesting this time). thats also a thing with me, i like when the color contrast isnt subtle, i go a bit crazier sometimes (feel free to check my older art out on insta, those deltarune ones are the best example of this). to explore color in a piece, layer effects are your best friend, and tonal/color editing settings. i cited this example on an insta story some weeks ago for my last drawing with how i left it originally and what i modified once i came back after a bit:

the decisions you make in regards to what focal points and colors you use genuinely and solely depends on your artstyle and what you like to draw. but experimenting is always fun, and id say necessary :]

i feel like since i read orv the first time, ive had a pretty clear idea of how demon king looks like to me but before the webtoon i only had time to draw the huge wings properly (which im glad people agreed with me.)

im gonna start posting fanfic recs btw whenever i find good ones. both here and my (awfully barren) 18+ account. because there are so many good fics out there with so few hits and fewer kudos and sometimes no comments period and it SUCKS because i REALLY LIKE THEM A LOT.. and i hope that by linking them here and yelling at everyone to COMMENT DAMMIT they might actually do it

seriously though any comment means a lot. most people who read a fic don’t even give a kudos. even if the fic wasn’t top tier, if you didn’t dislike it, hand over some kudos!! and if you liked it, comment!!!! even if the comment is one singular heart emoji it will be appreciated. if the comment just says “great fic!” the author will be happy. your comment doesn’t have to be this long winded gushing or analysis.

so many authors quit writing or lose motivation because the comments are few and far in between or just sometimes nonexistent. trust me when i say authors don’t care about how long or cool or smart sounding your comment is i promise!!!

i hope that mmmaybe recommending fics and telling people to comment might help fics i really like get more support maybe. and i, points at you reading this, hope that you will listen!!!at least a little….at least sum kudos….

Some thoughts about popular Sanji pairings on the show? 😋

Let's discuss viola, nami, vivi, baby5, zoro, luffy, and pudding

Sanji/Viola : the original i support my girl's rights but more importantly, her wrongs. I love this pairing. I think their basis of connection is so pure and strong. Sanji risking it all for her at first meeting (and understanding her heart even when she was on the enemy side. Sanji didnt judge her for her obligation to act violently towards him at first) also she literally peeped inside sanji's mind AND still likes sanji, a connection can't get more intimate than this one, imho. I love the potential and the strong foundation of trust and loyalty from the very beginning of their relationship. If sanji gets any het pairing I'd want it to be with viola.

Sanji/Nami : the original Malewife/Girlboss pair. honestly, it's a bit hard for me to seriously ship the strawhats with one another because they give off heavy sibling energy T-T like sanji and nami are literally chaotic bestie duo (when they both get scared and jump at the sight of crawly crawly bugs omg). My favourite sanami moment gotta be when the first time sanji saw nami and got amazed was when nami was being loud boisterous and a thug. Also i love how genuinely sweet sanji is towards her but that's just regular sanji

Sanji/Pudding : I've explained my thoughts on sanji and pudding you can find it here

Sanji/Zoro : Shonen so this pairing will never be canon anyway. I love their friendship. I could write endless essays on how sanji and zoro's connection is like a lifeline for both of them. It's not being mushy, it's just the truth. And i think Oda also wrote them like that because they are the wings of the pirate king so they have that fulfilling each other vibe going on for them. Of course i cant takk about zosan without mentioning thriller bark. But not just from sanji's side, i love zosan ESPECIALLY from zoro's side, seeing him being childish and nagging with sanji feels like a breath of fresh air and this bond shows zoro's silly side. I love it.

Sanji/Luffy : Luffy give heavy aro ace im ngl. But i love the Impact he's had on sanji and I've especially started seeing a potential in this pairing after wci and another Lusan dynamic here

Sanji/Baby5 : i know i know baby5 is married or whatever but i really would love to see some baby5 and sanji.

Sanji/Vivi : The power couple. This is really just me indulging and daydreaming about pairings tbh, vivi and sanji do not show that much of romantic chemistry. But Vivi is very very graceful, diplomatic and understanding. She's one of the few characters who can match sanji's charm and elegance (duh she's a princess). She's also caring selfless and a humanitarian. Hell she was willing to delay her own issues (reaching alabasta) to make a stop at winter island and find a doctor for nami - that's some selfless stuff that sanji would've done. Sanji and her values would align and they'd be good as a couple. I love the aesthetic, beauty and potential of this pairing.

angelica's three fundamental truths

disclaimer: this is my first hamilton analysis, pls give me grace as i figure out how this works. all of this is my own opinion, so if u disagree or don't understand smth PLS TELL ME!! id love to discuss or debate :∙D

1. "I'm a girl in a world in which my only job is to marry rich. my father has no sons, so I'm the one who has to social climb for one. so I'm the oldest and the wittiest, and the gossip in nyc is insidious. and alexander is penniless... that doesn't mean I want him any less."

angelica always has her weight of her family name hanging over her head (much like burr). it's not as if she can't handle this responsibility; she is a genius and has good control over herself.

alexander, however, almost makes her forget her duties and loosen her manner (I say almost cuz "what the hell is the catch" & "you forget yourself" show that it was still in the back of her mind). this isn't just because shes attracted to him; alexander is also a mirror for her, a what-if. angelica is a genius on par with hamilton, but is restricted by being a woman and by her status as a schuyler. alexander is hindered by neither of these (as much as he'd love to have the latter), so he functions as the idea of freedom for her. later on (in "take a break"), it seems as if she lives vicariously through him, cuz he's got everything she wants; to stay in new york, to stay with her sisters, to write for freedom and build the new country. i imagine that if she wasn't into hamilton, she'd be jealous of him instead.

2. "he's after me cuz I'm a schuyler sister, that elevates his status. I'd have to be naive to set that aside, maybe that is why I introduce him to eliza, now that's his bride. nice going, angelica, he was right: you will never be satisfied."

while being a schuyler opens many opportunities for angelica, it also means she has to be wary of her suitors' ulterior motives. more important in these lines is angelica's indirect description of eliza compared to herself. angelica knows that she herself is smart and quick witted, and that she fits the skills needed to be an heiress. eliza does not. angelica doesn't call her naive as an insult; it doesn't really seem to occur to her that it is an insult at all. she states it as fact that eliza won't care that alexander might be after her just for her wealth (and she is correct).

(also noteworthy is that angelica doesn't stop loving alex despite that possibility either. maybe the draw of meeting her equal is enough?? even tho she suspects him to be a cheater and gold digger??

...I don't know what they both see in him =_=)

3. "I know my sister like I know my own mind. You will never find anyone as trusting or as kind. if I tell her that I love him, she'd be silently resigned. he'd be mine. she would say I'm fine; she'd be lying."

and finally the key difference between angelica and hamilton: family. more specifically, caring for someone else more than for yourself. angelica has her own aspirations and desires but they will always be secondary to her family, both abstractly, as she preserves her family's legacy, and practically, as she chooses eliza's happiness over her own.

hamilton does not have that kind of bond with anyone. for all that he can be caring and protective of his people and his nation, he will always put himself first. it's not surprising, considering how he grew up, but it still ends up being his undoing.

(also of note here is this description of eliza. specifically that she stays "silently resigned" & lies to cover her feelings when she's upset. perhaps this is what eliza usually does for angelica, but for hamilton she makes no secret of her feelings. to be fair, even eliza herself constantly understates her agency and willpower (see: the entirety of "helpless"). however, when eliza knows what she wants she does not hesitate to get it. I have a few more thoughts about her having an easier life because of angelica's sacrifices, as well as angelica misunderstanding her, but that's for a separate post.)

bonus: "but when I fantasize at night it's alexander's eyes, as I romanticise what might have been if I hadn't sized him up so quickly. At least my dear eliza's his wife... at least I keep his eyes in my life."

earlier angelica applauds her intelligence and perceptiveness, but here she curses it. ignorance is bliss, and if she wasn't so attentive to her family's needs, she could follow her own ventures. but!! don't forget that though she doesn't act on her ambitions, they are always there. she doesn't stop dreaming of alexander, or stop missing her sisters and her city.

tldr: angelica is a disciplined, genius woman of high social standing, and is critically aware of this. she constantly has the weight of supporting her family on her mind, and is devoted to them. hamilton represents her more self-centered desires, and though she doesn't pursue him, she never stops wanting him, and likewise she never fully forgets her personal ambitions despite choosing not to achieve them. in part because of the society she lives in, and in part because of eliza's infatuation with hamilton (aka prioritizing her family's happiness over her own), angelica will never get everything she wants. again, she knows this, and resigns herself to never being satisfied.

+ they have a skewed sense of what's normal/appropriate between brothers. Probably weren't reprimanded/corrected as kids so they just kept doing it. What's sweet as kids is kinda weird now as adults~ idk something like having no sense of personal space or boundaries.

I like this one cz i can just imagine hoeru sharing smth he did with kuon to the gozyu team and everyone's just in shock with their kind of brotherly love mmcmfmd

Very delusional scenario but if they still got along after reuniting as adults, they'd probably take baths together ❤️ Though hoeru's starting to mature so he'd probably say smth like how this is smth they shouldn't be doing but kuon coerces him to stay in the bath longer with him anyway~

Sorry really vague and no concrete examples (can't think of one for brothers-to-brothers, only for sisters-to-sisters mfmfmd) but you get my point right 🥹?

+ Kuon's feelings, worries, and thoughts abt his brother were warped to be super intense after the No One World abduction

examples:

- that thing where older siblings feel a little sad when they notice how much their younger sib is growing and starting to want to be independent -> warping to -> Kuon not wanting Hoeru to leave him AT ALL

- that familial love for your sibling -> sick kind of love and obsession for hoeru. ("Hoeru's my love, my hope, my puppet" uhm! Ok!! Whatever you say Mr. Freaky!)

- Younger siblings being your responsibility. You're their teacher, their second parent, their most available guide (eldest child in an Asian household things ❤️) -> Hoeru grew up to have beliefs that dont align with Kuon's. Kuon thinks he is misguided and wrong. He's the only one that can set him right.

+ As kids, Kuon's praises and sweet touches would be like liquid gold to hoeru. Even if they have a weird relationship now, I'm pretty sure if Kuon praised him, Hoeru would feel like putty inside. It's hard to break off from old wants 🫶

+ not an HC but do you know the whole thing the mom and daughter in EEAAO had? The daughter in the "Alpha universe" was pushed to the limit to be excellent that she became a nihilist and wants to destroy the universe. She seeks out for her mom in this one universe who is awful at everything because she has the greatest potential (the whole "you suck so much that you have nowhere to go but up" thing) and is the only one capable of foiling her universe-ending plans.

The womanfailure mom = Hoeru

The powerful nihilist daughter = Kuon

Analyzing the Architect Home World.

Not much is known about the state of the Architect's home world regarding Architect settlements and life on the planet. While the buildings we see are intact, it is not definitive towards the state of the collective. If it still exists. So, instead of this being speculation about whether Architects still operate on their home world, I will go over all the information that I can gather about their planet from what we have seen. I will also use freecam to take a closer look at details you wouldn't normally be able to view.

Let's begin with what we see in the final cutscene.

As AL-AN navigates out of the Phase Gate and through the atmosphere the ship is steered through heavy storm clouds, narrowly being guided through edifices of buildings that form what appears to be a cityscape. The ship breaks through the storm and is met with a harsh sun glare before getting a fuller view of this grand Architect city sitting on an area of high elevation. There are structures much bigger than we see in 4546B, though it's hard to discern their purposes. Despite AL-AN not having been here for a millennium—there is a surprising lack of ruin. Floating buildings supported by cables haven't fallen, multiple Phase Gates are still in operation, and there is no overgrowth of any plant life. I wouldn't necessarily call it 'maintained' but it certainly isn't in a state of desecration.

Now, let's take a look at what can be seen on their home world in freecam.

It's hard to discern the surface due to all the clouds, but if you set the game speed to zero and toggle freecam we are able to see the full skybox. This reveals a lot more information than the brief image you see in the cutscene. As you can see, there are many clouds still, but towards the bottom left they part a bit, and you can see glimpses of the terrain. It is high elevation and rocky. Fitting with the description of Architect bodies being made for navigating rough terrain. Their legs described as being reminiscent of mountain goats. It makes sense that the terrain of their home planet is rocky and mountainous.

Architect buildings seem to focus on vertical structure first and foremost. Whether it be the skyscrapers, grand entrances, or floating platforms suspended by their levitation technology and supported with cables. On many of these buildings there appears to be areas where ships may be docked. Given the ability for AL-AN to integrate himself with the ship, their vessels having the 'blink' teleportation ability, and the use of phase gates, their vertical design seems to account for ability to quickly and efficiently travel between them.

There are also a few buildings you can view that you otherwise wouldn't be able to, though these structures do not differ much from the larger ones that are seen.

The high elevation, the storms we see as we first enter the home world, and the abundance of clouds may indicate a harsh environment. It's most probable that (in the location we see) it is somewhat commonplace for their home world. Architect vessels are adapted for extremes after all.

The unusual weather most likely originates from global temperatures warming due to Architect activity rather than from their star, as the planet's distance from its star seems to be similar to Earth's. This is probably what causes the large amount of clouds. This would make things pretty humid and prone to fast weather cycles.

Their buildings having no windows may be more for practicality in that sense. It'd be a lot less structurally sound in case of extreme weather events if they were to have windows.

Around this concave structure, typically hidden by another building, and here peeking through the clouds, you can see what potentially could be plant life. It appears short, like shrubs and/or small grasses. They appear to be a warmer hue. Reds and oranges rather than green like on 4546B or Earth. If these are plants, that would suggest their star produces more green and blue light that the plants absorb. Adapting to reflect the warmer hues.

The sky that we are able to see is a colder shade of blue that fades to a more purplish color as you look up. This could be due to a higher argon content in their atmosphere, or it could be due to the way the light reflects through the numerous clouds and various gasses present. As for the atmosphere itself, it's probably safe to assume that it would be breathable for humans, but with a lesser oxygen content, partly due to the elevation, partly due to the general makeup. (I wouldn't imagine AL-AN taking Robin along if he knew she would asphyxiate lol)

Next are some small, unclear details, but ones I felt worth mentioning.

There is what might be either a distant star, another planet, or a small celestial body that orbits the Architect home world. It is uncertain, but it is distinct within the top right corner of the skybox.

Looking down towards the middle there appears to be a potential body of water. Whether it is a lake or an ocean is unclear as the clouds don't part enough to see it in full.

There are more mountains behind the second phase gate in the horizon that don't appear to have any structures near them.

This concludes the main things that I noticed. Anything else would be too grand of a speculation, and I do my best to keep my posts within canon territory.

I hope that this was helpful information about their home planet! I can also cover more Architect-specific parts in another post if wanted, but I tried to focus on the planet itself while also discussing the Architect—well—architecture. Just like the rest of the info about Architects, their home world is shrouded in ambiguity.

its so odd how we inherently fear the unknown

when we're little kids, we fear consequences of cursing. somewhat when we grow up too, we feel a tug at the bottom of our guts when we curse. whether we oscillate towards faith or reason, we fear consequences of things deemed as wrong. we're taught to fear consequences, largely because the consequences are unknown. it comforts me to know things, that my knowledge has expanded, it puts me at ease. yet i wonder, what in the unknown makes me fear it so much? is it because we already presume the unknown is bad, or because not fearing it would ruin something potentially good? is it our inability to change our destiny, as some may say, that makes us so dependant on hope? does that remain as that little voice in our head that we fancy calling our conscience telling us that horrible deeds lead to horrible consequences? i too fear the unknown, but i believe our inability to comprehend the rationale behind that fear is far worse. how bad could the unknown possibly be?

and that’s not even getting into the dynamic parallels between nghy and other couples, which may be kind of a stretch, if i’m being honest so i’m not including them, since their stories all written by the same crew, so there’s bound to be some overlap there

it’s kind of like hw has written a couple made up of their favourite bits from their prior pairs, whether intentionally or not, and i’m all for it tbh~~~ i’m sure there’re still more (perhaps accidental?) callbacks to come, considering how early we are in nghy’s story, so let’s watch their little fairytale unfold together!!
