#including the wip ideas that have been baking for a while

i came up with a hc that wally would stare at your home cooked dishes just to make you cook more food just so he could spend more time with you in the kitchen
could you write a small oneshot about this please?
I loved this Idea Tysm! It’s very cute, Hope you’re doing well or that things get better soon! Sincerely-Cup1dT3a 💖
Tumblr media
You huffed out crossing your arms at your now empty plates. Looking down onto the now gone food you had put so much care and love into making just for yourself! You then angrily looked over to the perpetrator Wally.
“ It wasn’t me!” He stated holding both his hands up.
“ ….I know, but just… Am I subconsciously snacking on everything I’ve been baking?” You questioned.
Ever since Wally volunteered to want to watch as you cooked you couldn’t help but notice empty plates appearing more often. It couldn’t have been your blue haired neighbor due to the messy desserts you’ve been making. It would have been too noticeable if he had taken a bite.
“Fine but just…I knew it!” You gasped pointing at the man.
“ Wha-“” You thought you could fool me! But look at this Wally!” You grinned wipping some frosting off the top right corner next to his eye.
A small rednesss showed upon his face as your finger ever so swiftly and delicately smudged the frosting off his face. You couldn’t decide whether or not to be angry or happy upon your discovery. Perhaps it could be both? You had a sly smirk on your face while you crossed your arms at the perpetrator. “ Oh well, looks like you caught me red handed.”he chuckled.
You rolled your eyes about to scold the man for eating your cakes without you noticing for so long. As you eventually confronted him he simply admitted his defeat promising to never eat another of your cakes without permission again. Even as he stated that they were too good to resist you didn’t fall for the flattery still a bit mad at him for lying. You eventually forgave him but you couldn’t help but wonder. How did it get near his eyes?
Tumblr media
Tysm for reading! I hope you’re all doing very well or that things get better! My requests are currently closed for now but they will be open once I finish all my other requests. Including my activeness on here once I finish school! Thanks for your patience!
Sincerely-Cup1dT3a 💟

I suppose I should talk about possible/confirmed plan changes to my WIPs?
(Fair warning: I've mostly calmed down, but I don't want to work myself up again, so I'm gonna be writing in a normal tone. I promise I'm not ignoring or trying to make light of the whole thing! I just don't wanna talk too deeply about it. All the love and support to Shelby Shubble & all victims of abuse!!!💖)
First off, I believe characters are separate from their creators- anyone who continues to create content about c!Wilbur has my support and respect!
(I will most probably continue to consume content related to c!Wilbur as well, though I will tag him as "c!Wilbur" now, rather than "Wilbur Soot"- I've been tagging all dsmp characters only as their corresponding CC's names, mostly out of laziness. For instance, c!Tommy wasn't tagged as "c!Tommy", he was tagged as "TommyInnit". I don't want to change my whole tagging system, but c!Wilbur at least will be tagged as "c!Wilbur" from now on!)
None of my writing was RPF in the first place, it was all about the characters- but I'm not sure if I myself am ready to freely write c!Wilbur or fanfiction!Wilbur stuff yet. Maybe I never will be; idk.
So here are the changes I'll be making!
DSMP Superpower AU: c!Wilbur will stay. I was planning to include all the DSMP characters(The 'mains', at least, I'm not sure about secondary characters yet), and the notion of leaving c!Wilbur out doesn't really appeal to me. So c!Wilbur will still appear here!
Temporal Transcendence: Honestly, at first I thought TT!Wilbur would be irreplaceable, but after some thought, I was surprised to find it might just work! Karl and Niki would play bigger roles than I expected, but it could definitely work. Heck, it might even be better than the original plan! So I think Wilbur will likely be cut from TT.
Oshi No Ko but Happier AU: I'm on the fence about this one. Wilbur's character isn't CRUCIAL crucial, but he's still pretty important. The outline of the plot will look much different if he does indeed end up getting cut out. So I'm gonna mark this WIP as a solid "idk" and just work it out as I go.
Rarepair Royalty AU: I've never talked about this AU. This one is a bit funny, cuz cutting Wilbur's character out actually solves some of the problems I had with the outline! The plot will actually work out better if Secondborn Prince Wilbur didn't exist- so he's definitely cut from this one! I just need to find someone new to pair with Karl. (Probably Seapeekay; I have the currently ongoing MCYT crackship brackets to thank for the ship!)
Lucky Star: Another fic that's never been talked about- this one is my newest WIP! :D I wasn't even sure where I was going to fit Wilbur in- a character called Wilbur never even existed here. Well, he did, but I'd deleted him for plot reasons a while ago and was in the middle of trying to find another slot. (Cyberknife is Techno's dead twin in this WIP btw- he's not a replacement character for Wilbur, the twin was always going to be Cyberknife.)
Tome AU: SBI literally only serves as Tommy's rich and powerful family here- at least, up to where I've fleshed out. Wilbur's only moment in the spotlight is when he argues with Tommy over dinner, bc he doesn't like how Tommy "got stuck" raising baby Shroud with Purpled(who found Shroud in a trash can), & is caught glaring at Purpled. I'll edit him out maybe. Or leave him, he's not a major character after all. idk.
Others(Mostly Bedrock Bros-centric): Honestly, I never could figure out how to write Wilbur's character that well. So 'Wilbur' isn't too big a character in most of these. Will likely cut.
Tom and Bunnypig(Bee and Puppycat AU): You know what, I think I'm going to make this half-baked idea into a proper WIP. Wilbur never existed here either, so yeah.
CONCLUSION: The whole thing is a mess, and I'm sad and mad, as we all are, but I'm gonna stop thinking about how horrible Wilbur Soot is & focus on how brave Shelby Shubble is!
I'm intrigued at what removing a single character did to my plot outlines, and hopefully, this will open a lot of new opportunities in my writing. I'm certainly looking forward to how my writing skills will develop after this.
To everyone who's actually read through this; thank you for reading this whole thing, I know it's kinda long.😅 Have a cookie and a hug, we all need it🍪🫂 Remember to drink water & eat something! All my love💖💖

Magnificently Cursed... the blog post ✨
🕰🍂🕯🌿📔🧣🌙
My writing log says it’s been exactly a year since I started writing Magnificently Cursed, my Dark Academia Inuokko Magic School AU! I find summer to be insufferable (my apologies to the sun) so I took an escape hatch to an early fall last year and immediately fell down this massive rabbit hole. Not only did I write the whole fic and make overly-intricate graphics for each chapter… I also made a ton of other content that I simply didn’t have enough time to post! (Fall is but one season… unless you’re me, and it’s two, because fuck summer) So as a little anniversary gift to me, I’m going back through the archives and finally putting everything in one place.
Let’s start with the character mood boards, shall we?
Toge Inumaki:
Tumblr media
I wanted Toge to have an earthy/natural, vintage-y feel, while Yuuta was all sleek and new. I’m still completely obsessed with this library-lizard aesthetic for Toge.
I low-key wound up buying a brown sweater after searching online for literal hours just like the one in the upper left so we could twin. That duffle coat still has my whole heart. Lavender mug inspired by Neara 🥺
Yuuta Okkotsu:
Tumblr media
The lil ghostie patch 😭 I still think Yuuta would look hot as hell in all these clothes- especially the speckle-y fisherman sweater. Coat game is strong here as well.
... so is it obvious that I spend too much time on Canva yet? 😅
The Timeline:
Tumblr media
My outline wasn’t outlining and I resorted to making an in-world calendar to make sure the dates were realistic. Each chapter is a different color, and the lines represent what days the chapters covered in-world. The corresponding stars represented each chapter’s posting dates… except the real life dates didn’t line up with the fictional dates (rude), so those thursdays were actually saturdays? I think? I'm actually not 100% sure what past me was up to here, to be totally honest 😅
(also, politely ignore that bit that says “epilogue - december” 💀i’ll get to it when i get to it. I don’t really like the idea of it being *over* so maybe i'll just gatekeep that bit forever)
Tumblr media
⬆️ Example of aforementioned “outlining,” which, yes, is unfortunately littered with as many potential tweets as actual organization 💀
Not pictured: the outline for the first three chapters… when i thought this fic… would only *be* three chapters. 🪦
Writing Log:
Tumblr media
I wrote all 92k between July 13th and September 13th (including 60k in August, nanowrimo style)!
Honestly would love to know what her regimen was because i immediately went back to being slow and undisciplined. I don’t foresee this coming august looking anything like this, lol.
Also, sidenote, hilarious that I took a break to work on it would make a whole in the middle of this? Because I literally just finished that piece this week and posted it today 😅
The Playlist:
Tumblr media
Spotify proving that July 13th commitment! If you start a wip without procrastinating and making a playlist for two hours first... did you really start a new wip?
The playlist was three and a half hours and i would listen to it nearly every day, sometimes multiple times in a day 💀. Listen during a rainstorm for peak vibes.
(other favs not pictured: The Butterflly Effect’s cover of “Lay All Your Love on Me,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Decode,” Liz Longley’s “Rescue My Heart,” and "Nothing's Gonna Happen" by The Staves)
Bonus:
Tumblr media
(fall baking... toge's fav pumpkin muffins of course)
Tumblr media
(my toge sweater knockoff)
Tumblr media
(editing buddy... clearly working very hard)
Tumblr media
(cider donut cider... for the ✨vibes✨)
Tumblr media
(obsessively drinking massive pots of harney and son’s victorian london fog tea as i tried to interpret my own bullshit)
Tumblr media
(me celebrating actual halloween like i didn't start in july)
.... ANYWAY (if you made it this far 😅) many thanks to anyone who read/kudos/commented/supported this fic, because (if you can't tell already) i had so much fun writing it.
Currently, working on another longfic rn that's also promising to destroy my life... but you never forget your first 😘

Okay I got you for the ask game hehe can I get 4, 10, 25, and 29 😊
I can always count on you for these, key! 😊
Referencing this ask game:
4. A story idea you haven't written yet
There are a couple of ideas I've written in my side blog:
The third entry in my Pauline series in which she has an intimate conversation with Mario about what he thinks about Peach. I've been meaning to get back to that one but keep getting sidetracked. 😅 Hopefully, I'll be able to after I finish my current WIP.
A Legend of Zelda BOTW fic in which Urbosa talks to Zelda about her conflicting feelings towards Link after he was assigned to be her personal knight. I don't know if I'll fully write this one out, however.
With that said, an idea that I haven't written yet is a Smash story centered around Little Mac feeling out of place as a normal boxer compared to the other fighters who have all of these cool powers and abilities. I don't know I would approach it just yet since I haven't played a lot of Smash. Therefore, this one will be quite a way down the road if I ever get to it.
10. What is the longest amount of time you've let a draft rest before you finished it?
A little over four months, which was the time length I posted Chapter Two of To The Tea. I posted the first chapter on AO3 in February 2024 but didn't post the second until late June/early July 2024. I started on the second chapter of that fic but was was distracted by video games and other things and therefore didn't do a lot of writing or editing in that time frame. 😂 Since then, I've vowed not to take as long in between drafts and chapters.
25. Besides writing, what are your other hobbies?
The obvious one is video games; otherwise, I wouldn't be as engrossed in the Mario fandom as much as I am. 😂 Other hobbies include music (listening and playing), baking, sudoku, and crossword puzzles. Another one I'm big in is sports, especially American football. I'm really looking forward to the season starting on Thursday.
29. How easy is it for you to come up with titles?
To be honest, this is probably the hardest section for me in the writing process besides tags. I usually come up with the plot and write for a while before even considering a title. It's one area I know I need a lot of improvement on. I cringe at some of my fics' titles and want to change them; however, I risk confusing those who've followed and read my fics and hence leave them as it is. 😂
Thank you for the ask! 😊

Meet the Creators - Daikon
What username(s) and platform(s) can folx find you on? (Please include links!)
I write under the penname "Daikon", which was unfortunately already taken on Ao3 and Tumblr, so there I use @daikon1
I do also still technically have a FFN account, but it is no longer being maintained or updated.
(Fun Fact) What is your favorite kind of potato?
Oh gosh, I've spent like a week thinking about this and still don't have a good answer. It's probably either twice baked or french fries with some kind of condiment (ranch, BBQ, BBQ ranch, honey mustard, I could go on)
How long have you been creating works in fandom spaces? How long have you been active in the SM fandom?
I technically submitted my first fanfiction to a Buffy archive back in 2004 but MERCIFULLY they didn't end up sharing it on their site. I discovered FFN around 2007 but didn't start actually posting content (and then only sporadically) until 2009.
Regarding fandom spaces, I've come to and from the Sailor Moon fandom over the years; in 2005 I was OBSESSED with Alicia Blade and was dying every time she updated Love Potion #19. Over time, I wandered away and found other fandoms to invest in (shoutout to Kingdom Hearts) though I was much more of a lurker than anything. I didn't really find my way back to Sailor Moon until 2019 when I stumbled on @floraone (and started dying every time she updated The Unintentional Seduction of Chiba Mamoru). Ignoring one fluke-y and OOC piece from 2014, I've been writing for the SM fandom since mid-2020 and am hoping to stay here for a while :)
What type(s) of creative works do you usually make? (fanfics, digital art, cosplay)
I'm a strictly fanfic kind of girl.
What do you enjoy about creating for the SM fandom?
I love the characters and am low-key obsessed with the dynamic between Usagi and Mamoru. I started watching Sailor Moon when it was first airing in the US in 1995 and when I say that shit was formative for me, I am not exaggerating. My favorite relationship dynamic is definitely snarky, stupidly-in-love A seeks sunshine-y-but-perpetually-annoyed-with-them B.
Are you strictly UsaMamo or do you create for other pairings as well?
I don't mind having various sideships in my works, but I don't think I have the emotional investment in any other SM ships to actually write a piece centering them.
What inspires you to create works for Usagi and Mamoru?
TBH, I have been struggling a bit with inspiration of late (I had a bad bout of burnout early in the year that I'm still recovering from) so, you know, once I figure that out... XD
In general, I've noticed that music tends to be something I find very inspiring. The right lyric can shake up my thought processes and sometimes give me a whole piece of writing (see: then you showed up...) In the event that music isn't working, brainstorming with my beta, @floraone, can nearly always unstick me when I can't find any momentum.
If the question is supposed to be more of like, why UsaMamo, see above re: what I enjoy about creating for SM.
Do you tend to work on multiple projects (WIPs) simultaneously or try to finish one at a time?
I don't like to have multiple multichapters going at the same time if I can avoid it. I do tend to have a multichapter in the works, and will pause my active multichapter for a fandom event (such as a gift exchange or UsaMamo week) or if I have a plotbunny I can't shake. However, I tend to try to keep any side works short (ideally a one shot or a novella-length multichapter).
I also have a handful of ideas/story fragments that are basically paused in my drafts folder because I don't have the interest/bandwidth to tackle them at this time, but I might eventually come around to. In an ideal world, I would finish them one at a time
Do you prefer large projects (chaptered fics, webtoons/zines, highly detailed art) or small projects (one-shots or simple art)?
They both have their own challenges and rewards. I find it's much easier to hit a wall in a multichapter, whereas a oneshot you get to finish and push out and "check off", as it were. However, a multichapter tends to grow an audience and have folks invested in where it's going, which is both lovely and validating (and sometimes a lot of pressure!) Multichapters are a lot more of a commitment - I can get an idea for a oneshot and churn it out in a week when I'm feeling inspired, whereas a multichapter invariably takes more time and (at least for me) I don't feel like I can take on several at once in the same way I can tackle a oneshot plotbunny and keep moving. A oneshot is also more of a self-contained "complete thought" while a multichapter can be a bit more sprawling, which gives you more space to explore and innovate.
All that is to say, I'm not sure if I really have a strong preference one way or the other. I like both, for different reasons.
Are there any common themes, situations, tropes, or mediums in your work?
LOL so basically whatever I'm currently tackling in therapy tends to pop up in my writing. Grief and self-worth are big ones lately, which I think is part of the reason I'm feeling less inspired of late. While they are important things to process, I don't necessarily always want to be grappling with those heavy feelings during my fun creative times.
Also, you know. Idiots in love. Healthy and accurate portrayals of sexuality. Minako being a disaster queen. And when I can work it in, I love self-referencing my own works in a kind of multiversal invocation
Is there anything you haven’t explored artistically and would like to try?
Nothing's coming to mind! As mentioned, I'm a writer through-and-through, so I'm not interested in trying a new medium at this time. I think if I did come up with some form of experimental writing I wanted to play with, my beta would be delighted to support me, but right now I'm happy to stick to mostly traditional romantic comedies with a side of emotional processing.

November Check-In
As mentioned in my previous weekly update, monthly check-ins will be posted on the 1st of every month, recap'ing what's been done and what's the plan for next month.
Recap of last month's progress
IF Events in the Next Month
Plan for the next month
Still long post ahead. If you want a mini version, head over to itch.io!
October progress
The plan for last October was to:
Play and review more IF games ✅
Finish the La Petite Mort remaster: ✅
Either continue a WIP or fix another semi-completed game ❌
maybe try to add another block to the SugarCube Guide? ❌
The first was easily completed, since I reviewed about 40 games (out of the 75 entries) from this edition of the IFComp. This was more than last year in terms of quantity and time spent (more long entries this year), so while I did not play/review all entries, I'm happy with having done all that so far. Maybe I'll revisit the rest at a later point.
The second was a bit difficult. Working on the re-writes started pretty easy, but I ended up being completely short for words half-way through (even if I could visualise the scenes). Switching to translating the completed passaged helped pick up the pace, but I did this a bit too late, looking back. This meant I rushed through the last week, just before the EctoComp deadline, to complete a working state. This also means that while the game is complete, there are kinks that still need to be ironed out. This include the missing full passages (half-written or drafted, but not translated), missing translation (especially for the last passage), and taking care of the last UI friction. Another update is coming.
Having spent so much time on the first two, and IRL just swinging its bat at me, the last two points were not touched at all. Still, it's not bad, and other things came about:
The Bare-Bones Jam managed to get two dozen entries, which is pretty decent considering it happened at the same time as the EctoComp and the voting of the IFComp.
Lots of interesting discussion happened in the @neointeractives Discord server, especially covering the IFComp (moderation can't sleep).
I somehow managed to wing an entry for the inkJam, with In the Blink of an Eye. Don't know how I managed, I certainly wasn't in the right state of mind. Also turns out it was a 4-bird-1-stone, since I translated it in French.
Had an actual AMA on the blog, that was properly scheduled!
So still quite a bit considering life... (it's really been a lot, haven't processed most of it yet)
-_-
What's happening in November?
Nanowrimo for the writers, which can be a good incentive to progress the writing of a game.
The IFComp, EctoComp, and inkJam are always looking for players/voters. If you want to play a few short-ish games, take advantage of that!
The @seedcomp-if is always looking for inspiration (text, images, code, etc...) in this current first round. If you have half-baked ideas or anything, really, come submit something!
Over @neointeractives, we just wrapped up the Bare-Bones Jam and we have a new jam in the work... the ShuffleComp! Stay tuned ;)
-_-
The PLANtm for November
Still play more IF and maybe review. With the Bare-Bones Jam and the EctoComp over, that's a good 50 games to try out. (I've started with the inkJam already)
Finish the edits of Harcourt Ch5 (and get MelS to send me his Ch6 writing)
Fix one of the semi-completed games: either the Egg parser or TRNT (and make it a proper parser)
Finish that darn SugarCube Guide: there aren't much left in the guide to cover, but there are a few things to fix.
I would also like to compile the short drabbles from @crimsonroseandwhitelily into something more substantial. Either as a side page or within the game itself.
Taking the list of TO-DO from August…
To-Do not require much of new stuff:
translate Escape Goncharov! into French. ✅
fix the bugs in EDOC + overall the French version to match
fix the bugs of TRNT + find a way to add the missing pieces (mayyyybe translate into French?)
fix the formatting of DOL-OS + translate into English ✅
update LPM with the missing content + translate into English ✅
It's really been going down, which I am super happy about! I've made quite a bit of progress on that part since I made that To-DO (considering waves at life)
The rest of the To-Do pile was:
Finish The Rye in the Dark City (and maybe translate?)
Finish P-Rix - Space Trucker (and try to translate)
Finish Exquisite Cadaver (translation unlikely, current gameplay too complex to port for French)
Add a chapter to CRWL + fix/reopen the blog
Re-working TTTT to its originally planned state (lol, not likety)
Re-working SPS Iron Hammer (samesies)
Coding TTATEH (MelS dependent - shooting for end of year)
Emptying my inboxes (they are not all answered tho)
Honestly, this pile probably won't get done this year....

WIP ask game: 📄 👻. Thanks!
📄 What’s a WIP you never finished that you would like to go back and revisit?
Thank you for asking! I wanted to answer this in a way that was relevant to your interests, which means dragging up something that isn't even so much a WIP as a half-baked idea likely to never come to fruition, but! I always really wanted to write a heist AU for The English. I've mentioned this before in an ask to @calligeniascorner but trotting it out again here:
Cornelia and Eli meet while attempting to break into the same hotel vault. She's trying to elude security, he's trying to hack through a wall, they run into each other in the corridor and she's like "Quick, kiss me!" and he's like "What?" but then he sees the security guards coming round the corner and decides that fine, he'll kiss the crazy Englishwoman as a distraction. Once security has dismissed them as just another couple trying and failing to get a room and moved on, she's like "you don't need to do that by the way, I stole the master key" and Eli is deeply confused but decides to just roll with it. It has nothing to do with the kiss. It really doesn't.
Flashback time! This is the first step in Cornelia's grand revenge plan against David Melmont, who 15 years ago took everything from her in a long con. There's something of his kept in the vault of the Watts Hotel that she needs, which is why she has talked her way into hotelier Richard Watts' private office, drugged him and stolen his master key. It turns out that Cornelia, to her surprise, is an excellent grifter. It's her face. Some men look at it, apparently.
Meanwhile, this is meant to be Eli's One Last Job. He's only here because he's doing Touching Ground a favour. It's not even like he's friends with Touching Ground, but she seems to think he owes her just because he was there when her husband was gunned down by cops during a bank robbery gone awry, and she called him up from prison and told him to look out for her son. Problem is, White Moon's got himself tangled up with Kills On Water's crew, and they're going to send the kid into the Watts Hotel after a package that Black-Eyed Mog has parked there. Eli knows this is a suicide run for a thief as green as White Moon, so he offers to take his place on the job.
After the unexpected success of the Watts Hotel Job, Eli tries to walk away, but Cornelia's now set on recruiting him for her crew, which will also come to include: Thomas Trafford, the hacker who turned on Melmont 15 years ago because he fell in love with their mark, Cornelia - leading her to become the target of Melmont's terrible vengeance; Martha Myers, a former cat burglar who left the life to raise her son Jed, but who's been lured back because she, too, has an axe to grind with Melmont; and White Moon, whom Eli would prefer not to have involved, but it's this or letting him go back to picking pockets in casinos. At least on the job they can keep an eye on him. Eli really doesn't want to get another call from Touching Ground.
The other half of the story is told from the point of view of FBI Special Agent Robert Marshall, as he tries to piece together what led to the shocking robbery - and murder - of David Melmont.
👻 Is there a scene that you find intimidating that you have yet to write?
In my current active WIP, all the men and women merely players, I'm aware that at some point I need to retrieve Jamie Tartt from the wilderness and reform him. I find this daunting, not least because it's very difficult to write the Mancunian accent. But needs must.
(from this WIP ask game)

6. Favorite title you used
It's a tough call so I'm picking two: first, I have to shout out the custard pie appreciation consortium, because if that lyric from "The Village Green Preservation Society" hadn't stuck in my head, that fic would not have happened. I was trying to figure out what would happen during Hal's visit to Ragnor Bella, just listening to music in my car when suddenly I thought, oh. Bake sale.
The other title I especially love is let him know its flood also. Sometimes when I pull lines from poems it really is just the one line that I love, but in this case, Kahlil Gibran's "On Friendship" is just so fitting for Jemis and Mr. Dart. (It has occurred to me that I could write more little fics about their friendship, pull more titles from the same source, and create a series of it. We'll see.)
9. Favorite pairing you wrote for this year?
Jemis and Mr. Dart have my whole heart. (They're also most of the romance I wrote this year.) It's funny, because in canon I am fully happy with their relationship remaining purely nonromantic, but in fic... yeah, all bets are off. Romantic, queerplatonic, general friendship - their relationship is my favorite no matter what form it takes, and probably always will be.
27. What do you listen to while writing?
This is going to sound wild, but it's usually nothing. Here and there I might be able to stick a handful of songs in a playlist and put it on repeat, but a lot of the time I find music distracting. I have lots of writing playlists! It's just that I usually listen to them in the car when I'm thinking about fic, and less when I'm doing the writing of fic. There are exceptions, but yeah, generally nothing.
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
Besides my shock that apparently I'm capable of writing this much fic??? It would have to be that I got over the hurdle of publishing e-rated fic. Which is funny now, because it's not even like I had an issue with the idea of it, and now that I've done it, I am just like... okay. This is not even remotely a Thing to me. All it really came down to was the fact that I write for a small fandom, and there were things I wanted to read that had not yet been written, and I had ideas. Therefore... here we are. Technically the only e-rated fic I've published so far is hello, my old heart, but I have a few more wips in the pipeline that include sex. And many more that don't! I am, at the end of the day, just an aro-ace guy whose goal as a writer is exploring the relationships of these characters I've imprinted on in as many ways as possible. Upping the rating a bit just gives me a few more options when it comes to doing that.

Oh no you’ve opened a floodgate… welcome to oversharing hour with Jay
I’m very normal about Kaito, just ignore the two full cosplays + the EVA foam Orbital work in progress I have mapped out, the wall scroll that’s at my work computer, my ita pin bag, and the fact that I’ve done everything I can to make his deck competitive viable and god dammit am I still trying please print this deck a god damn banger starter, Konami, I can’t keep doing this without your help-
Short story but I used to be suuuuper YGO Vrains favoring from 2020 into early 2022, but I found myself drifting from it because one can only tolerate so much subtweeting and catty behavior over personal preferences, and I’d never really finished Zexal before, just has a half baked idea how it ends, like I watched a chunk of it when it first aired but never finished and proceeded to forgot most of it, so I picked it back up after deciding to pick up Kaito to write in an RP server with some friends because I remembered liking him and… well I didn’t stand a chance when I got back to him fjdhdhd
I deeply relate to the theme of self-inflicted loneliness because it’s easier to be by yourself, just getting walked out on, left in the dark, or even being shafted for reasons out of my own control, I really get that
Also taking on too much if it means the people you love will be ok even if the ending result is you’re not ok, where he is after his Duel with Yuma at the end of Zexal I and getting to repair all of those relationships he was damaged by is where I want to get to in life
Bonus fact that’s minor spoilers for another spin off, but I’m… not a huge fan of his portrayal in Arc V, I like that he’s there and acknowledge that it’s a different Kaito and I love all Kaito Tenjos as they exist, including the Structures Cosplayer, but… yeah, not a fan, I’m a big fan of showing vs telling and Arc V to me feels like it’s ALL telling for all of its supporting cast most of the time
All the people I ship romantically
The better question is who I don’t honestly because that list is far smaller, but if I had to pick favorites I’m very partial to Ryouga, Mizael, and Edo-
Something about rivals to lovers resonates with my very being, even if Edo is less of a rival and more of an enemy until Arc V does it’s usual-
I’ve written for Challenge and AntiHero both already actually, my docs is 99% Challenge Wips that are slowly coming along tbh, and GalaxyMaster takes more time to write since most of those are… you know what I’m getting at LOL
I stg Gallop's one mission was to make Kaito Tenjo a dating sim protagonist because I have no other excuse for why they gave him so many boyfriends and even girlfriends across Zexal and Arc V, Yugioh’s surprising most eligible bachelor
My non-romantic OTP
nervous laughter
Chris.
I like to think of them more as divorcees who are just fine staying apart
Also gestures vaguely at the first answer
My unpopular opinion
I don’t know if I have many tbh, besides disliking Arc V’s rendition of him / not liking mentor at all lol— Like maybe how I genuinely believe he’s the strongest rival bc his record was the best even after he was put up against forces behind human understand and was even considered dying majority of the time of Zexal while remaining arguably mostly human, Zexal’s wack
One thing I wish would happen/had happened with this character in canon
Oh my god, the duel I hate the most in all of YGO is Kaito’s duel against Heartland because not letting Kaito win against someone who’s become representative of the garbage he was put through is SO UNSATISFYING
Yuma coming in and finishing it up is symbolic in its own right because of the importance of bonds, but to me that was and always should have been Kaito’s moment, let Yuma and Astral show up literally any other time and I’m fine with it
ALSO WE DON'T GET THE RYOUGA AND KAITO GRUDGE MATCH, though Kaito solos everytime, I’m so sorry Ryouga

😊 The fic that you’re the most proud of?
🥚 Any easter eggs you put in a fic that you hoped people would notice?
Something from This Freedom of mine:
For a brief moment Cinder wondered whether it would be such an outlandish idea to come down to the kitchen every night to indulge in all the sweet frivolities that her child-self had been denied of. The woman couldn’t imagine her sweet-toothed partner having any objections. Not with enough provocation that is.
"I know I'm the last one who can say this but, brownies are probably not the best choice for a midnight snack."
With how creaky those strairs could be, Cinder was caught off guard by the fact that she hadn't noticed Ruby until she shuffled into the kitchen, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. The woman still had those moments where she had to remember that this space was one she shared.
"I disagree." Came her answer, plain and simple, as she scooped up another serving.
Ruby gazed wide-eyed over the chocolate treat, hesitant but hopeful. "Does that mean I could have one?"
Cinder gave the baking tray a glance, counting the uncut pieces in her head before sliding the tray over to the Huntress who eagerly reached for a plate and fork. Seconds passed with the quietly that came with savouring it. Cinder kept Ruby in the periphery of her vision, picking up on the way her lips turned upward, pulled tight with enjoyment while her eyes stayed shut for her tastebuds to savour. Her cheeks were full, lips smeared with chocolate in shameless enjoyment that had no right to make Cinder’s heart flutter as it did. But she would prefer such soft vulnerabilities without Ruby’s cautious venture and uncomfortable shuffle in her chair. Cinder knew the Huntress’ words before she gained the courage to voice them.
"You've been struggling to sleep, huh?"
...
The fic I'm the most proud of would have to be Your Hand in Mine. Since it is technically the first multi chap fic I've finished. But just the satisfying way it ended, having finished what I wanted to write. Nothing like it :)
...
I can't say I'm very big on Easter eggs. They break immersion for me, but there are quite a few hints towards things that had happened in YHIM that I mention in This Freedom of Mine:)
The closest to an Easter egg I think would be the fact that I've included myself as a background character in; Under the Mozambican Sun...

2022 in Fic
Thanks for the tag, @schmem14.  Original post here.
Tagging @soloorganaas, @squintclover, @bleepbloopbotz, @thememoryofthatday and literally anyone who hasn’t already been tagged! Love to see what everyone has accomplished.
I like this concept but  I’m not going to highlight every fic I wrote so I’ll share fun stats instead:
Word Count: 206,150
Hits: 42,797
Number of Fics started and finished: 35  (not including ficlets contained in compilation works)
Number of WIPs started: 1 with 7 chapters already posted. 1 that is almost done and ready to be posted. Several that I ave bits and pieces for that need to be fleshed out. A few that are just ideas.
Main ships I wrote this year
Sirius Black/Remus Lupin
Harry Potter/George Weasley
Euphemia Potter & Sirius Black
Favorite Background Ships: Lily Evans/James Potter, Nymphadora Tonks/Fleur Delacour, Harry Potter/Ginny Weasley
Favorite Fic I wrote: I love all of my babies, but I have a soft spot for Sanctuary, my first AU fic.
Least Favorite Fic I wrote: I don’t know if I have any that I’m not fond of...but I would have taken more time with 1828 Days if I had known how things were going to work out. But given that, I am still happy with the result.
Most Popular Fic I wrote: A Work of Fiction, which I wrote with the lovely Garefinn for the Mixed up Writer’s Fest has the most hits overall, though Scripted and Revised grew the fastest while I was posting it.
Least Popular Fic I wrote: Let Us Both Sleep, the only non-HP fic I’ve written, and Learning to Bake are tied for the fewest hits.
AO3 Fic Writers who have inspired me and my writing this year: I wrote fics directly inspired by fics by fantismal, krethes and shalomdebbie. Others are: MsAlexWP, Soloorganaas (Jewish Sirius has my heart <3), Cithara, TracingPatterns, myheadsgonenumb, Ron’s Girl Friday...I’m sure there’s many more.
Favorite Ship: Always Wolfstar, though Harry/George also has a piece of my heart. I loved my Parvati/Lavendar gift, and am intrigued by Draco/Neville.
Least Favorite Ship: I don’t think this is really fair to say - I feel like whenever I say I’m not into something, I read something great and change my mind.
Fic Writing Breakdown by Season:
Winter: 7 (Jan/Feb), 6 (Nov/Dec)
Spring: 7
Summer:  8 (so many words written courtesy of Wolfstar Bingo ;-)
Fall: 5
Fics with accompanying media by other creators:
Let There be Light is accompanied by a podfic of chapters 1,2 and 4 by the lovely @burningaurora.
Goals for 2023: Hoping to finally finish a few of my WIPs, take part in the Remus Lupin fest, do the 2023 incarnations of Wolfstar Bingo and the HSS Rarepairs exchange, continue trying to write a little everyday and get more involved with writing some different ships/characters.

30, 5 and the question you most wish someone would ask for ao3 unwrapped plz :D
5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?
ok so like these fics weren't written in this year but Fake It 'til You Make It and The Mischief is Hereditary and also, In An Empty McDonald's Parking Lot At 3 AM which are all works I wrote for Stackson Week 2021 got a whole lot of kudos this year. They were all of a sudden popping up almost every kudos email I got this year so that's unexpected but it's fun seeing people enjoy them!
BUT ALSO LIKE In An Empty McDonald's Parking Lot At 3 AM has the wildest, most diabolical soulmates marks trope has probably ever seen? maybe? Anyways, i have no idea where all these readers are coming from but yay!! stackson shippers!!
30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?
I have answered this question before but, ill give you my second not the biggest but still pretty big surprise that i got while writing this year which would probably be the fact that ive started to write little things about my ocs this year. Yes, this doesn't really relate to ao3 but i didnt really see this coming and i thought i wouldn't really do anything after writing down a little scene with two of my ocs but now there's so much more and i've got more than just a handful of google docs all about my ocs. Well, mostly about my "OG group" ocs.
super fun having little guys to play with like playdoh but im just smiling maniacally at the computer as i write sequences of sentences that are making said little guys do things XD super duper fun
the question i wish someone would ask has been asked (literally any question) so i take this as a opportunity to use the old reliable number generator and answer whatever question i get and it's
How many words have you written this year?
24,741 on ao3 but of course its wayyyy more including the scrapped 50k words from my stackson cowboys wip first draft, the half-baked no-longer oneshots just one-chaptered fics and the random other little things that are either teen wolf, brokeback mountain, stay (2005) or just oc shenanigans.

My Introduction Post
I figured since I've been on Tumblr for a little while now, I ought to tell you guys a bit about myself.
So, hi! I'm A.
Communities I'm part of: otherkin/alterhuman, plural/DID, autistic, ADHD, queer, disabled. (If you have a problem with that stuff, then I honestly don't know why you're on Tumblr, of all places.)
I LOVE writing, both original stuff and fanfic, and I have too many WIPs to count because my idea machine never turns off. I really need to find the switch for that thing. Currently on Draft 3 of my first full-length YA novel.
Other hobbies of mine include doll collecting, baking, crying over fandom edits on YouTube, and having objectively way too many Spotify playlists.
Top 10 Fandoms: The Riordan-Verse, Supernatural, Dark Crystal, Critical Role, Tamora Pierce's books, 2016 Voltron, 2018 She-Ra, Shadow and Bone, ATLA, and The Dragon Prince.
I also like what I've seen of Taylor Swift and the MCU, but I'm very, very late to the party on those and don't know a ton about them yet.
Pleased to meet the lot of you, I hope to make friends here!
My asks are always open if you want to talk, btw.

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So far in my project, I have done my initial research into multiple varied topics and ideas that could start to become a far bigger project. Such ideas that I clinged to the most and found most interesting and possible to advance into a solid FMP was Blood, Memories and Retry, which all got their own exclusive slides dedicated to looking into what they mean and example of them found in media such as Games and Movies.
I had very minor problems during this time, as I was looking into sources and divulging information that I could use to further my research, one problem that I did encounter, however, was during my Dynasties section, this is due to the Xia Dynasty which might or might not exist.
Its existence is contested by Historians due to minor archaeological relevance and some of the earliest records, starting around 1000 B.C.E, (to 0 B.C.E,) 1070 years after their supposed rule. I, however, chose to keep it in my research as I properly explained that they might or mightn’t have existed and I believe that it's far more fun and interesting to include them as it’s a fun quirk of Chinese history and due to its importance even if its disputed.
I then moved onto conceptualising and making minor plans for potential games that I could make artwork for. I made 5 in total, but only 3 stood out to me in a way in which I wanted to make them into my FMP. One of these games was inspired by the Idea of retying, this being the game devised during my summer work in 2022, Hells New Management. This game would be a rogue like that would be a top down twin stick shooter which has active dialogue and a featured story with humour at the forefront for originality which is something quite absent from the genre, with some exclusions being Enter the Gungeon and Hades.
The idea about retying this game includes me reinvigorating the items and upgrade systems and incorporating the second idea of Blood, as in relations, further into the game from the preestablished bone of familial ties.
The second Choice is Blood and Gears, (WIP Title,) that is a completely new game, built conceptually from the ground, using the keywords devised from my mindmap such as Blood and Memories (of self) to create an introspective game about what makes you you. I wanted to be inspired by companies such as Bungie who manage to make abstract things this as power manifest itself into reality, and I wanted to try this with the memory aspect of the game, letting the player alter them and traverse them, with the idea that all memories are now computerised and can be replayed in great detail.
My third and final choice is the Almost Bizarre Case of Luther Cross, a comedy detective point and click adventure game with a dry protagonist who is surrounded by more flavourful and eccentric character that clash with his controlled and clean personality. I was inspired by Change once more, as a character I made for a previous project caught my eye and I made him into this game idea. This game takes little from my mind map however as it was a creation in the spur of the moment, what could leave it coming out half baked.
At this point, I think that continuing with Blood and Gears is my best choice moving forward. Overall, the idea is brand new and will need further adaptation and revisions to be the best it can be, while other plans like Hells New Management already has preestablished ideas and concepts that I could build off of. In spite of this, I think that choosing that over Blood and Gears is choosing the easier path, and by choosing Blood and Gears I’ll be able to make a more unique and varied game, and by starting from a brand new foundation, I’ll be able to shape it to fit any style I want instead of being limited to one I have already devised.
I decided not to choose the Almost Bizarre Case of Luther Cross due to my writing skills being subpar in the comedic sense, and when writing a game that is focused on said comedy, it would limit what the game could be to me. This could have been fixed through me researching into comedy and seeing how I could develop my skills in that department, and I would have time enough for it, but I would rather spend more time on further in depth and primary research rather than focusing on a pretty complicated medium of writing.
Heading on, with my ideas conceptualised and project chosen, I now have to make the best project I can, and to do that I have to plan out what I now have to do. I think now would be the perfect time to delve into further primary research into games, movie and art that could inspire me and that relate to the main themes that the game has as of now, being Memories, discovery of self and creationism. Some media I want to specifically look into is Bungie's conceptual art on Stasis and Strand (2021 - 2023), guillermo del toro’s Pinocchio (2022), H.R. Giger’s artistic works, review Automaton (song) by Jamiroquai, Prey (2017) and other media that might come into range later on.
After I have researched said topics, I will move onto the early work of sketching characters and locations that will later be redone and finalised into a more coherent and stylised look. This sketching will include moodboards to researched topics and other inspirations that helped forge the ideas of them in my mind. As of right now, my plan includes:
Continue research into primary sources to further the now foundation of the FMP
Create another overview going over if anything I learned or saw has changed any of my ideas or improved preexisting ones
Create rough sketches of situations, characters and locations to hone in on wanted style (helped with moodboards)
Develop sketches and finalise them, talking about how you are improving said sketches and if anything changed or problems that come up
Automaton is the 8th studio album released by the British band Jamiroquai manned by the only sole member to not be replaced, Jay Kay. The album is a different take on their previous works, putting it next to others like Emergency on Planet Earth and Travelling Without Movement shows its departure from the norm, while still having semblances of Acid Jazz it is far more Techno with R&B and Disco elements, making it far more similar to A Funk Odyssey in terms of style.
Present on this album is the track of the same name, which I am going to look into during this research.
I am looking into this song due to music being a medium that I can greatly relate to, allowing me a further and more developed opinion and also due to the songs themes relating to the advancement of technology and computerisation what is linked to my hypothetical game as the main character is a robot that has been spliced with human anatomy and this song could be used to help explore someone going through a similar situation, even if less literally.
While this song is also accompanied by a music video I am leaving it mostly out of this research as, like with most music videos, it is there for spice, improving the song but far from raising it higher in quality. It does, albeit, contain Jay Kay in a robotic hat, as is common for him.
Starting at the beginning, the name Automaton is a term regarding a machine or mechanism that is in attempt to copy or mimic a human in appearance, it can also be used in a derogatory way, as it can be said to someone who acts in a mechanical or unemotive, unfeeling way. This is the main crux of the song, as multiple verses talk about things such as, “Take my hand, Cold like a junkie, I'm an ice cold man, Why am I crying for you?” which depicts the character as unable to understand their emotion while calling themselves, “Cold like a junkie,” might show that the character is or should be unemotive, this is enforced as he goes the extra step to call himself a junkie, a drug addict, which is an uncaring and cruel way to describe someone, perhaps done as they cannot comprehend them.
In the first chorus, he laments that, “All this love I felt for you has gone away to another place, (It's a digital life,) I put my faith in a digital world where they've given me eyes without a face” what I took as them once being able to love, that this change of unemotive behaviour is a new development, (All this love I felt for you has gone away to another place,) has become the norm and a fact of life, relating to the songs message that technology is taking away the simple pleasures of life, something as simple as talking to one another.
Yet, the line, “I put my faith in a digital world,” suggests that they believed that technology would be the future, but perhaps that view has become incorrect as of now, as instead of strengthening bonds, it has given them “Eyes without a face.” I think this line could be taken two ways, one being that they cannot see what people are thinking as he can only see their eyes “without a face,”  restricting their understanding of their emotions or that it has become less about feeling the emotion of one another, but rather seeing it and being unable to respond due to the digital medium that has separated us making us more formal and less emotive.
The following line states that they, “steal the moon on silver nights, remind myself I am someone, my soul is null and void tonight, I'm automaton.” The “remind myself” is obvious in stating that the digital medium has brought them down mentally and has made them feel subhuman, leaving them to remind themselves that they’re human, however I found confusion with, “the moon on silver nights.” To remedy this, I looked into spiritual connection that silver has, and apparently it has connections with the moon, absorbing its energy, it also states that the metal is able to reflect negative emotions. Perhaps the line refers that he is trying to regain his emotion that is halted by the moon, not only this, the moon also has symbolism with progress and advancements and by stealing it hes trying to go back instead of going deeper and deeper into this pit.
The next verse goes as the following, “I'm so tough, Can't you see me running? See, I can touch, Can you feel me coming? I see the world and cry for freedom. These metal eyes, they can't disguise the fact that I need something to believe in, But then I'm dying for you.” I believe this verse could be relating to the sense of being unable to tell one's emotion, “I’m so though- see, I can touch,” feels like someone trying to validate what they are feeling, but the message falls through, as his, “metal eyes,” (cold, dead, unfeeling,) cannot hide that he needs something to believe in, where he remarks that he's “dying for you,” what could show that he is still trying to grapple with his emotions, but he's hurting more that he cannot act on it, hence for saying he's dying instead of something more positive like living.
The next chorus he “said goodbye to the world I knew And took off into inner space (It's a digital life) Weren't you the ones who promised me A very different place?” Again, going to space insinuates the future and progress, referencing the digital era, (it’s a digital life,) we now find ourselves in, feeling like a new ‘world’ but its not what he was “promised,” again leading to the idea that technology should strengthen our bonds but rather weakens them.
“Hey, you got me down underground, Gettin' holed up in my cyber lounge” Is found in the bridge, and seemingly is quite simply saying that he feels stuck, while being underground a reference perhaps to his other famous hit Virtual Insanity what is also set in the future where everything is up for the worse. Cyber lounge could also probably a chat room or some equivalent, cyber as its digital and not actually real yet he still feels trapped.
Found just after, “Whatever you can do I can override it, Got a million ways to synthesise it” Is probably talking about the ease of access that technology gives to people, that they can just make anything “a million ways,” synthesise being a fun play on terms as synths are a piece of musical equipment and also means to create.
The final chorus ends the song out where he worries this,, “Feel like a man who fell to Earth But this is not where I belong They rule my life from a metal box That's windowless And I wonder where it all goes wrong Maybe this dream will stay alive But can the madness be undone?Am I the new intelligence?” This final verse references a book of the same name, where an alien comes to Earth in search of water, adding to the alienation that this song inspires. And here he finally elements if he's “the new Intelligence?” wondering if he's the first of a new generation that will only grow further apart, wondering if “the madness can be undone.”
I had a pleasant time overlooking this song and trying to derive my own ideas from its lyrics rather than solely looking at others opinions and ideas. By looking into it I have further increased my knowledge on and about the song by making it into primary research for my FMP while also using my problem solving skills to inform myself about what the lyrics could be trying to inform me about.
Overall, I think that my interpretation of the song is not too far from what other think, the song concisely talks about their views on technology, this is seen also in the use of music creation, where the band didn’t use plugins to create the synthetic sounds, rather returning to the synths of yesteryear to produce them, adhering to the message of the song, almost as if their music, while new and electronic, their music is in a similar struggle to find itself just like they are looking for their emotion.
I first heard the song back in 2018 when I first started to look through his discography far more furrowly, and I instantly fell in love with it. While diverging significantly from their norm, it is not so distant from other works of their, it might not even be their most electronic, making it feel more like an evolution of their craft instead of a full on switch up like Wonderful by Adam Ant compared to his earliest works or Hunky Dory compared to Earthling by David Bowie.
I wanted to look into this song due to its relevance to me and my project, and by having looked more furrowly into it, I have learnt that I can use aspects I have discover about it in my project.
The song leaves it vague if the character the song centres around is a robot or human, with the obvious reason being that they themselves are oblivious to the fact, this is funnily already an idea I wanted to look into in my FMP, with its main character one day realising it is part human, wondering if this was always the case or if, at one point, he was alive.
It would follow his journey in discovering who he is, just like the song is a contemplation of if they are able to feel emotion or if they are to be strained by the pain of not knowing it.
Another aspect of the song is it’s visualisations and materialisation of foreign concepts. Such ideas as, “metal eyes,” “cyber lounge,” and, “eyes without a face,” not only tell you how they feel through connotation and hindsight, but also induces an interesting mental image that you can hook onto that we can nearly all relate to due to how ingrained technology has become into our life and our dependence that has only rooted deeper. Because of this, I want to further develop my materialisation of concepts.
I was always going to try and create dreams and memories in a physical medium assisted by tech, but I could further add character and identity to characters such as the protagonist by adding inhuman but relatable aspects to their visual identity. For example, instead of just making it related to game play, I could show that a character is unfeeling or cold by removing their mouth, making them speak in another way, one that's more robotic, or someone who has no care about their actions could be seen without eyes or a covering of some kind.
All together, I think it was extremely helpful and a good investment of my time to look into this due to how it has allowed me to further my understanding of my topic by looking at another's own ideas about how they feel about becoming more connected with technology. However, I do think that, while I like the song and understand the standpoint they have, I disagree with their overall technology prejudice. This extends mostly to modern advancements in the field, but to push it off as a tool that can only bring us further apart is to not look at the wider picture we have.
Yes, it can break people up, it can make us less understanding of others, but it’s also an avenue that allows us to connect with people that we might have never had expected, communicating with people we would have never thought about otherwise from corners of the world that we never would have discover.
I believe technology is a scary force, with the power to create and destroy at a moments notice, to manufacture audio that is just real enough that you could almost believe it to be a human to the power to destroy an entire countries infrastructure if it went only a slight bit off. There if fear to be had, but to only fear it and not to accept its benefits is to be naive to the world, this is not the first time people have feared change, and it won't be the last.

Meet the Creators - RiverLethe
What username(s) and platform(s) can folx find you on? (Please include links!)
@riverlethe - I am on Tumblr and Ao3!
(Fun Fact) What is your favorite kind of potato?
Yes. If it is a potato, I will eat it (except for mayo-based potato salads - no thanks), and my preference absolutely depends on mood, but if I had to pick one.... Have you ever tried Chef John's Potatoes Romanoff? If the answer is no, go fix that right now! (add in crisped up pancetta before baking - you're welcome)
How long have you been creating works in fandom spaces? How long have you been active in the SM fandom?
If reading fanfic counts as being active in the fandom, I've been active, on and off, for a little over 20 years, but I didn't actually start writing fanfic until 2 years ago.
What type(s) of creative works do you usually make? (fanfics, digital art, cosplay)
Fanfics are my #1 contribution, but I also crochet. I made @linlamont's Sailor Rex plush based on her amazing artwork for her adorable story "Treasures", and I am currently working on a custom Sailor Rex for my 6 yo daughter. There are plans for a Tuxedo Rex and Tuxedo Kamen
What do you enjoy about creating for the SM fandom?
I love the sense of community and making friends within the fandom. Discussing and theorizing all things Sailor Moon is one of my favorite things! Plus, there is just so much to explore, both in canon and fanon
Are you strictly UsaMamo or do you create for other pairings as well?
I wrote a Kunz/Venus fic for Heavenly Pearl's/@kaleidodreams' first ever Rare Pair week, but I otherwise exclusively write for UsaMamo. Who knows, maybe I'll be inspired to create for another ship in the future. Never say never!
What inspires you to create works for Usagi and Mamoru?
The emotions! Everything these kids go through is dark, scary, intense, etc etc, and I love to explore how it affected them, how they're feeling in the moment, and how Usagi and Mamoru support each other through it.
Do you tend to work on multiple projects (WIPs) simultaneously or try to finish one at a time?
Ideally, I would work on one WIP at a time, but with my ongoing story Once More, with Feeling!, I always have multiple going on. While I normally don't mind putting OMwF aside for a OS or two, I haven't updated it in almost a year, which I feel really bad about, so I am trying to put any new ideas on hold right now so I can get Chapter 13 done. OMwF will eventually update, I promise!
Do you prefer large projects (chaptered fics, webtoons/zines, highly detailed art) or small projects (one-shots or simple art)?
I love how much of a story can be explored and fleshed out in a chaptered fic, but, for fans, they can be daunting to start reading if you aren't there from the very beginning (depending on length), and there is always that ever present nemesis: time. As a writer, I like the regular engagement with the community that posting new chapters allows, but writing as I go can be very stressful, especially when motivation just isn't striking. For OSs, I love that ability to focus on one small part of the characters' lives without needing to generate a lot of backstory or lore. Will I do another Chaptered fic once OMwF is finished? Probably, I do want to continue into R, but I will hopefully take everything I've learned working on OMwF (it's my very first ever fanfic!) into the sequel so I'm a little more prepared.
Are there any common themes, situations, tropes, or mediums in your work?
Angst and Romance are probably the most common as I love the emotional impact the angst imparts and how Usagi and Mamoru support each other through it. Honestly, I find the original anime (and the manga to a lesser extent) a bit emotionally stunted, so I absolutely love fics that elicit emotions, in me, either happy, sad or anything in between!, and I strive to do that for my readers. With any luck, I succeeded!
Is there anything you haven’t explored artistically and would like to try?
If I could draw, I would totally do art. I am in awe of what artists can create through their medium and would love to be able to visually see what so many of us use words to describe, but, alas, I'll stick to crocheted dinosaurs with odangos! Regarding writing, I have more OSs in mind for stories and ideas I haven't explored yet, and maybe I'll actually learn some restraint and create chaptered fics that aren't 12+ chapters long at 5k-12k words each. Anything is possible! (Except for me and art. Not gonna happen)
