charles adrenaline was still pumping even hours after crossing the finish line at the monaco grand prix. it still didn’t feel real to him that after so many years he had finally won his home race. the whole weekend had been surreal and he had wondered many times if this was all just one big dream and as he buttoned the cuffs of his dress shirt he pinched himself for good measure.

nope. definitely not dreaming.

there hadn’t been a moment for him to take a break today and really process his emotions. after the race it was press duties and then a small celebration with the team that may have involved jumping into the marina. then fast forward to his current task- which was getting ready for the gala dinner.

you had been back at the apartment getting ready for awhile. it was a big event and you’d be eating dinner with the prince and princess which meant hours would be spent making sure you looked your best.

you sang along to the music playing from your phone as you put the finishing touches on your makeup, not even hearing charles enter the bedroom until he spoke up.

“chérie you almost ready?”

your eyes flickered to his reflection of him standing behind you in the mirror. big smiles on both of your faces as you made eye contact.

“yes. i just need help zipping up my dress”

in an instant you were out of your robe and pulling the satin dress up over your figure. goosebumps forming at the feeling of charles fingers brushing over your skin and when he pulled your hair to the side to zip up your dress it caused a shiver to run down your spine. it was embarrassing how much of an effect this man had on you.

he placed a chaste kiss on your shoulder before letting your hair cascade down your back once more. and after slipping on your heels and grabbing your clutch you did a little spin for charles, showing off the final look. “how do i look charlie?”

charles had never been at a loss for words before. his brain was short circuiting and the line from his brain to his mouth had been severed. you looked so beautiful, so radiant, so perfect, like an ethereal being- but he was too stunned too speak. how he had managed to have someone like you by his side he wasn’t sure, but he thanked the gods everyday for you. he didn’t realize he was stood there like a dumbfounded fool until your angelic voice broke him out of his trance.

“baby. close your mouth. you’ll catch flies.”

he could feel the heat radiating to his cheeks as he choked on his words. “sorry-“ he reached his hand out for yours, pulling you into his embrace “but mon coeur you’re the most beautiful woman i’ve ever seen. think you scrambled my brain there for a minute.”

your giggles only made his already rapid heart beat even faster. “thank you. you’re very handsome too charlie.”

he’d never felt more in love than right now and when you two made eye contact he knew your were it for him.

you saw charles start to lean in to give you a kiss, but put your finger up to his lips instead. “um no. i love you, but i worked too hard on this makeup for you to mess it up.”

a playful groan escaped past charles lips. “chérie! come on! just one little kiss?”

you patted his chest as you walked past him and towards the door. “we are gonna be late. plus i think the race winner deserves a good prize later no?”

charles didn’t need to be told twice. he was hot on your heels ushering you out the door.

Done! I've plotted the entire novel!

If you have 80% of a book plot and a bunch of thin threads, I fully recommend just buying a pack of sticky notes and finding a wall to stick them on. Pick a colour for the plot and different ones for chapters, themes, notes and anything else you need and just get it all up there.

It offers such great flexibility in moving bits of the plot round and figuring out what happens and when. I started out with a strong beginning and end - I just needed to weave the middle bit together. I now have the full thing! So definitely recommend doing this if you're struggling with plotting and weaving themes in.

Now that this is done, I feel like I can start writing now! This book is based on a dream I had (not like Twilight omg) and some life lessons I wish people had told me when I was younger.

It covers things like finding and choosing your family, coming to terms with the fact that the people you are related to aren't always the best people (and coming to terms with that), finding validation and self acceptance and learning to let go of people or things that would otherwise do you harm. All in a fantasy setting! Woo!

Oh and it is also very queer.

I love the characters and messaging and will post updates as I go because eventually - I will need test readers!

Now to come up with a fucking title.

Uhm so... I have something to say about Lilly... (and Vengestone.)

Don't you guys also find Lilly incredibly interesting?? I can't be the only one?? I mean, so much happened in her short life, and there are so much I still want to know. Everything we know about her just intrigue my interest more. Especially after seeing she not only has a shrine in Shintaro, but also the City of Temples. I mean, what are the odds? It makes me wonder why would Temple City keep her stuff and not only that but have her statue? And how, despite being so legendary, people know very little of her?

Ok so. I might be delulu here, but what if, the reason Temple City, and maybe some other sacred place kept track of her, is because her story was erased from the history for some reason. No one tells her story out loud, so places like Temple City kept evidence of her story and her stuff. Maybe she did something she shouldn't have, maybe used some forbidden magic, maybe she knew some stuff and they feared she would share it so they kept her silent and erased all her story from the history?

My take on this story, is that she used Vengestone. I know it sounds so "the hell?" but hear me out on this. A lot of people here talked about her statue in Shintaro and mentioned the possibility of her merging with her element. But my take is her statue looked like that because she was able to use Vengestone, or at least resist the stone's magic and used her earth powers regardless.

I can see her being confused about why a stone, which is a part of her powers technically, would make her unable to use her magic. And talking to other EMs, she realises the effects of the stone is indeed different on her. While other EMs feel their connection to their element is cut, Lilly still can feel the stone. She can feel how Vengestone effects her, but from what she knows from other EMs she was supposed to feel nothing. This makes her curious and she starts to think she can master the stone and resist. She tells some EMs about it but seeing how they react, she decides not to tell Wu, thinking he will forbid her from experimenting and even worse, forbid her being near the stone.

Eventually, she starts to secretly try to control the stone, or use her powers around it. She only goes a tiny further with these practises. But when she visits Shintaro, being surrounded by the stone inside the mountain, she faces a great challange and finds herself succeeding in resisting the stone. Though this proves to be very painful. Glowy scars, just like Vengestone cracks, appear on her arms, hands and neck using the ability. Though they disappear shortly.

She doesn't tell anyone other than Lou, who realises it's dangerous but trusts her when she says we will never do it again. After that, she keeps it secret for a while. Until... she can't. During one fight, she uses this ability again, this time in longer amount of time and stronger. With everyone, the EMs, and civilians watching. After that she starts feeling overcharged and stays still on her knees trying to regain consciousness. Using this magic causes the same scars again, but this time even after healing faint "cracks" are visible on her arms and neck, making her unable to lie or keep it secret.

This is the time Wu learns about everything. He knows Vengestone acts different on earth elementals, that's why he never told her nor any other before her. Because in the past it did not do any good on the user of the magic.

Aftermath of everything, Lilly quickly recovers, though again, scars visible. But a council gathers, and they should punish her for her actions, for using forbidden spells (because you know, her doing it recently makes it harder to keep secret, endangering the next generations because it paves the way?), so they punish her with her existence in the history. It's hard to find anytging about the time she was a ninja, because they hid her from stories.

This drives Lilly angry, she drifts apart from Wu's alliance because she is hurt by his lack of support during this whole time. And she thinks keeping such secrets is doing more harm than good, because hiding the forbidden Vengestone abilities did not protect Lilly from using the magic, in fact, it only made her still use it but with no knowledge, thus no precaution.

After this, Lilly starts going on missions by herself, being her own solo thing. Which is why, in canon, she still went on missions after Cole was born and she lost her powers. She took orders from only herself, so she did what she wanted.

I don't know if this was a contributor to her death, I'd assume she carried some inherited illness that only started showing once she lost her powers and no longer had a super healing, but I'd also say using such magic many times did tire her body greatly.

Oh and, about how she used her powers with Vengestone. I don't know if I am able to explain this correctly, but it's like... the stone allowed her to use her magic, it's like she made a connection with it. I wouldn't say it's like merging with it, not like how Nya did it, but you could say there was some merging in terms her magic, like the stone sharing it's with her. Which is how she became mostly immune, mastering her abilities around the stone.

On the other side of the story, there is Lou, who I need to mention. Because whatever happened, he knows EVERYTHING. And that's canon. Because he met Lilly before she even unlocked her true potential. He was there in every step she took. He knows every single one of her adventures and everything.

When this whole Vengestone incident happened, he was also deeply angry at the reaction everyone had, and he believed it was terrible to just erase her from the history just because she wanted to save people. He wanted to do something but... well, what you can do in this situation, even Lilly couldn't stop it as a part of the Elemental Alliance. He could only watch it unfold, and it was eating him inside.

After everything, he lost his own trust in Wu, getting sick of his secrets and being heartbroken at the reaction, or lack of reaction let's say. Which... is actually the real reason he tried to stop Cole from being a ninja. It was to prevent Cole from becoming one of Wu's ninja.

Because, I know this might as well be a plot hole, but if you watch S1, in ep2 Lou sends a letter to the Monastary, despite Cole claiming he lied to his father and never told him where he actually is. This just proves Lou knows more than we think he does, he knows the Monastary because Lilly have been there too. He knows Wu, he most likely knows the parents of the ninja too. He knows so much, which he briefly shows in Quest for the Lost Powers as well.

I swear y'all always mischaracterize Lou, making him the bad guy and making him a terrible person. Which is sooo wrong, if you look just a little closer to the story you'll actually see it. And we might think he knows very little, but I think he is just really good at playing oblivious.

OKAY that was a long run. I hope I made sense, English isn't my first language lol. I just have this idea in my head, which I'd actually love to write as a fic. There are a lot of aspects to Lilly's story that are canon, or most likely canon, that makes me get so interested in exploring her story. Like how her father was on Chen's side, willingly or not, and how this canonically labeled him a traitor (As Garmadon says in Garmadon #1 or 2), and I wonder how this effected Lilly. In that one canon Ninjago magazine issue, I believe called Mother Earth, we can see a little inside to Lilly's personality which is a plot twist in itself as she is no saint as many people tend to think. She is not just a nice persona, she is actually a lot meaner and daring, like think of it as Cole's playful bullying. She has that to her.

Okay, now I'll shut up about her, FOR NOW. I hope this reaches to people who are interested in Lilly's story as much as I am lol.

ykw, fudge it, Imma bring back my old DSMP(?) magical girl AU. With a different plot though, bc I still don't wanna write that one*.

(*: the reason isn't anything serious btw, I really just don't feel like writing that story. It's way darker than my usual ideas, and I don't feel like writing stories that dark, not right now at least. I might try it someday though.)

They all have the same magical logo(?) but have different themes. Techno is the leader and has a medieval lady + knight type of attire in pink. Tommy is a jersey maid with a red jersey. Tubbo has a sailor dress thing in yellow. Phil has his typical Angel of Death fashion, with a loose flowy green robe and tight black sleeveless top with a boob window. Ranboo has cheerleader clothes with a purple letter jacket.

Their hairstyles, general color palette, etc. change to match, with a bit of recognition hindering magic as well. Techno's shoulder-length mouse-brown hair with faded pink dye(usually in a tiny ponytail) turns a vibrant pink and lengthens, down to his ankles maybe? Then it magically twists itself into a neat braid with a gold headdress appearing on his brow. Plus his eyes turn a cherry red-pink. Tommy's short pale blond hair turns shiny golden with hints of orange and red at the ends like a sunset, and his bushy curls turn into perfect, angelic curls. Of course, a lacy maid headband appears on his head too. His eyes turn red gold. Tubbo gets a soft honey yellow color in place of his usual brown, plus a sailor cap decorated with gold bands. Blue-green eyes to a yellow-green color like chrysoberyl maybe? Phil's usual white or black bucket hat turns into a white-and-green striped one, and the brim widens and gains a black? green? veil. His straw blond hair(like Techno, usually in a small ponytail) turns platinum blond, nearly white, and gets longer(again, like Techno's)- though his doesn't tie itself back. His eyes get an unsettling glowing green color in place of his deep blue. Ranboo's usual black-and-white split dye disappears(yes, I gave the split dye look to their civilian getup), and instead turns a deep purple and blue gradient, with tiny glittering star decorations. The usual grey? brown and green heterochromic? eyes turn purple, of course.

Was this an excuse to talk about magical girl designs with no plot actually being planned? Maybe.

Slice-of-life magical girl stories are a bit more common these days I think, so how about. Hm. Social media story? Nah, that's too similar to the scrapped idea. <Frankenstein> in my bookshelf caught my eye. Magical girl transformation gems are a result of scientific experiments on a rare mineral found deep within Earth, and the quintet got theirs purely by accident. Like Tubbo going dumpster-diving for invention material and finding some failed gem samples that were accidentally thrown away. They're failures bc the original testers got crystallized by the gems during activation and were killed, but ironically the dead testers' souls, now bound to the gems(though the scientists working on the gems didn't know that) help keep the mineral's powers in check so the five can use them with no problem. Basically they're the Magical Girl's Overseer/Guardian trope.

(In case you're wondering how seeing <Frankenstein> on my shelf led to this kind of story: I bought the book to research for a medical horror(?) type original fiction WIP.)

Techno's gem spirit is Cyberknife. Hmm, how about Kristin being Phil's? Ooh maybe Missa. They're both purple/violet though. Who's green. I don't watch Hermitcraft/Empires/etc. so I couldn't write Martyn InTheLittleWood, or GoodTimesWithScar. ....Awesamdude? That'd be funny, at the very least. I don't want to use any of the QSMP eggs bc the gem spirits need to be scientists/old enough to viably be test volunteers for potentially dangerous experiments. 악어(Acau)? I can speak Korean, I could write QSMP!악어. LOL 악어('s character) HAS WHITE HAIR AND GREEN EYES. HE FITS. Tommy gets... lol BadBoyHalo. They're both red-themed, sort of, so yeah. Bad is always two seconds away from a heart attack bc of Tommy. Tubbo gets- Foolish? Foolish is golden so he COULD be yellow. He's got green eyes too so that might explain Tubbo's transformation having yellow-green eyes. Also ocean themes. Tubbo's got sailor attire. And finally Ranboo gets. Hm. I can't use Purpled.... I can't think of any other Purple characters apart from Kristin and Missa, but I want them to be connected to Phil so they'll have to be human. Maybe Tinakitten? She's lavender and not purple though. Ironmouse? Ironmouse is pink and purple, not blue and purple. Jaiden- OH MY GOSH JAIDENANIMATIONS. Q!Jaiden would be perfect. She was even a test subject in canon!

So yeah the scientists eventually track down the gems but unlike what the five magical girls expected, the scientists were actually moral(well, more or less), and only wanted to prevent more people dying after the five deaths caused the government-backed top secret gem project to get scrapped & they realized the failed gems were gone. The group of scientists, now free from their governmental contract(they were tracking down the gems on their own bc the government didn't care about it), end up supporting the five with their vigilante work, and start light experiments on the gems again(with consent from the five gem users- they're all adults btw, they can consent to experiments without consulting legal guardians or whatever). They learned they can't channel the mineral's powers properly without a human soul, so they only work with the quintet's gems instead of trying to create new ones. Like I said, more or less moral. HOWEVER there are people out there who DO try to make more gems.

Aaaannnd it's 3AM on a school night. I should go sleep now....

WANNA RAMBLE ABOUT OCs TOGETHER??

YES

I want to ramble about my precious bean, Lilly, who is selectively mute and the five year old that the good cop unexpectedly adopts. She’s really shy, but she’ll pop out when she sees Arrow come into the station, immediately making a beeline towards them. Arrow is like, “uhm, sir? i don’t think you want me around your child-“

And good cop responds with, “Arrow, respectfully, shut the fuck up. You’re great with kids. Just let her hold your hand. She’ll probably give you random pieces of yarn and says it reminds her of you.”

Lilly likes to give them pebbles and beads, and sometimes the occasional lizard she finds near the coffee machine. When Arrow first receives a lizard from her, they’re immediately like, “Let’s put him outside. Oh my god. You feral child-“

But Lilly just smiles and starts bringing them more things she finds around the office. Suddenly, good cop goes up to Arrow and tells them, “You’re the only one she’ll hang out around besides me. I wonder why…”

Lilly sees Roan next to Arrow one day, and our golden retriever boy starts tearing up because, “it’s our little flower. She’s grown so much!”

And Lilly just stands there and points to where Roan is(mind you, he’s very much a dead man) and goes, “Ro-Ro!”

And both Arrow and the good cop freeze and look at her like she’s seen a ghost(because she has), and good cop goes, “what’d you just say, Lilly pad?”

And Roan is now balling his eyes out because he’s like, “oh my god! our little girl can talk!”, but also he tells her, “Lilly, flower, if you can hear me, tell Papa I think about him everyday, alright? Tell him I’m okay.”

Then, Lilly starts sniffling and repeating, “Ro-Ro’s okay.” And Arrow sheds a tear because this is fucking heart wrenching to witness when you can see both ends of the conversation. Good cop is close to tears, but holds it together because he’s at work and with his daughter. He looks to where Lilly is pointing and goes, “You’ll always be my one, Roan. I wish I responded sooner. It would’ve saved you.”

Everyone is either close to tears or full on sobbing at this point and Arrow is just like, “I’ll come back later, dude. I gotta get out of here.”

That’s when Roan finally breaks down and Arrow grabs him by the shoulders and says, “You’re a good person. Don’t ever forget that.”

(Yes, this is one of the turning points in their friendship where Roan is like, “holy shit. someone has my back when i have theirs.”).

(Your comment about saliva being filtered blood reminded me of this video's title + I have a scene in my WIP, <Temporal Transcendence>, where Dave the Blood God complains to Techno about everyone only thinking of him as the god of war and bloodshed, when his domain includes things like bloodstreams & bodily fluids as well!)

okay if in laymen’s terms stuff like saliva is kinda filtered blood, does that fall under The Blood God’s domain? Like calling yourself a God of Spit doesn’t really roll off the tongue (poetically, it does literally) but he is one right? Imagine someone screaming ‘Cerebrospinal fluid for the Cerebrospinal Fluid God’ as they run into battle
