Something I haven't seen getting mentioned yet is the scene of Lestat screaming "she will be miserable and you will love her, and it will spiral beyond your reach" being about Nicki.

Like that was a trauma response. That man was back in France, learning that some people would always be miserable with the gift and that sometimes the real act of mercy is letting someone die.

The dynamics between Dan, Danny and Ellie are so funny to consider. Danny is far too used to handling Sam and Tucker at their worst and now he has an additional gremlin duo who picked up whatever madness was in Vlad's system when he decided cloning was a great idea. (Danny is highly aware that it is not a good thing to have more him in the world and has resolved to better avoid clone plots). Meanwhile Dan and Ellie will fight over the most random, inane things, but the minute it's about family they band together into a proper terror and the only beings able to stop them are Jazz in her disappointment if the situation calls for it, and sleep deprived Danny who does not realize his exhausted presence is like a terrifying parental figure catching their kid doing something stupid.

It gets even funnier when Jazz finally breaks out of the mindset that she needs to be in charge and instead enjoys herself, and so the only leash for the three most feral Fentons (honorary and named) is a perpetually tired teen/young adult.

Now drop that in Gotham.

There are always 2 sides.

The discourse around Louis and Lestat being a victim and abuser and nothing more drives me insane.

Something i don't think enough people remember is that the very same reason the fight began in 1×05 (lestat grabbing claudia by the throat when she tries to "take louis away") we see Louis himself do to her in 1×07 when she tries to get Louis to burn Lestat.

They BOTH would harm her rather than live in a world without the other. They are both guilty of abusing her and each other.

There is an implication that a good deal of time passed between Louis and Lestat meeting and the church. Louis expresses that he shares himself with Lestat in a way he only had with Paul. I would assume that goes both ways, to a degree. We know Louis knows at least enough about Nicki to discourage Claudia poking that wound. He also clearly knows that the threat of leaving is his most powerful weapon against Lestat.

Mental abuse is abuse. And Louis abused Lestat mentally for years. Shaming him, ridiculing him, shutting him out, manipulating him into making Claudia (a traumatic moment for him, whether Louis understands the depths of it or not) by promising to give him what he's being denying him, promising to never put him through what he fears the most.

Louis admits to purposely making Lestat suffer. He admits he was warned that Claudia would suffer and he wanted her anyway because he needed to feel redeemed. He is not innocent. He is not a trapped, weak victim. He made choices to hurt both Lestat and Claudia time and time again.

Does this justify Lestat's actions in 1×05? Obviously not. But we now know Louis was not willing to stop the fight. He taunted Lestat the same way he taunted the Alderman. He was unleashing years of frustrations just as Lestat was. His priority was not to protect Claudia, it was to hurt Lestat, consequences be damned.

I hate the drop scene as much as the next person and Lestat has admitted he will never earn forgiveness for what he did. But if you view Louis as some squeaky clean victim who was manipulated, trapped, and abused by Lestat you are missing so much of what this show is conveying.

We will always tend to paint ourselves as the hero of our own story. It is hard to accept your faults or that you hurt people you love. It is much easier to shift that blame on to someone else, to frame them as the villian. But life is not usually that black and white. Claudia had harsh words for them both in her diary, even before they got to Europe, for a reason. They both made hurtful mistakes with her, both treated her like a pawn in their relationship instead of a person, both harmed her, took away her choice, never prioritized her.

That is the great tragedy. That she never had a choice and was not allowed to be her own person. And in the end, they both are responsible for her misery and her death. That's what makes the reunion scene so important. They have been grieving her and carrying that guilt alone, all the while longing for the comfort of the other for 70+ years. Louis has found clarity in his memories, he has accepted his role in their suffering, he has seen Lestat's perspective more fully. Lestat is broken, totally consumed with that guilt and grief. Both know that although they cannot change what they've done, they can forgive the other, even if they can't forgive themselves. They can love each other despite everything they've done to one another because they cannot stop loving each other. But now they can try to rebuild that love from the rubble.

To the people worried about Assad not being in s3

(Leaving out the fact that the website didnt mention him, it's enraging but it's a mistake, they just dont proofread their content since also on twitter they mislabeled their images several times, i dont know why they dont take the time to look things over)

If you notice, they CLEARLY are putting all on the Rockstar Lestat angle. We dont have a single blip of plot outside of "Lestat goes on tour". And its the same tonal shift from IWTV to TVL in the books.

Armand is the only character we dont know anything about regarding s3. Lestat goes on tour, Daniel goes with him, Louis is presumably in Dubai fighting waves of vampires like he's playing Doom. The Talamasca has "corrupted signal" instead of his image. And I believe that once the promotional hook of the rockstar angle is over, where he is could be a plot point, but it's too early to tell. And I think this is why they have been all hush hush about the character as well, any sort of mention of his whereabouts is a spoiler.

I had a really shitty interview this afternoon (that wasn’t even a proper interview it was like 2 minutes tops), SO IM PROJECTING THAT ONTO THE OLD MEN I LIKE!!! John Price who drives you to your interview, lets you practice your lines onto him and presses little kisses onto your forehead or hair while you get ready. When you leave his truck, because he has a truck fucking fight me- he gets out too open your door for you like a gentleman and gives you one last kiss before squeezing your shoulders softly and rubbing up and down your arms for one last “Good luck sweetheart”. 

John Price who once seeing you leave the place early can already see your face and immediately wraps you in his arms, rubbing your back while letting you angrily rant to him while he leads you back to his truck. 

“I know kid, I know. You did so well.”  He gets you ice cream and some food, letting you calm down with your ice cream and only once he can see your more stable ask’s you what happened. 

John Price who nods along and lets out an annoyed click of his tongue when you spill how the guy ONLY read your CV and Resume on the spot, you didn’t even get to talk to him properly or tell him your strengths or weakness’s before he shooed you away with a ‘we will reach out soon’. 

John Price who gets pissed on behalf of you when he hears this but keeps it together when your anger fades away to sadness. Rubbing your back and whispering sweet nothings into your ear while he lets you cry, keeping you wrapped up in his arms. 

John Price who when you finally get back home drops to his knees, which takes a bit because time in the army will do a number on your body, to take off your shoes. Large fingers gently massaging your calf and ankle while he slips on shoe off, pressing a kiss to the side of your knee before mimicking that on your other leg. 

John Price who pampers you for the rest of the night, letting you cry on his shoulder but stealing kisses and tells you that you did so well and they are idiots to do that to you and not hire you.

IWTV S2 cut scenes / things I keep wondering about (while patiently waiting for news on S3 production)*

1. THE FIRE

The first episode? Louis and Claudia standing in front of what? The castle? Random town? Did I miss it somewhere? (x)

2. PARK GUYS

How different was the scene originally planned from what ended up in the show?

It's the only one that I know of that was reshot. They filmed it in Kinsky garden on June 2 (pic on the right), then they returned to the same location on October 12, at a time when they were otherwise already shooting scenes for episode 8. One day later, on October 13, they shot part of this same scene in a completely different location in Průhonice Park (pic on the left). I guess they weren't happy with what they shot in June?

3. THE NICKISTAT KISS

Not a proper cut scene, more like a different take.

4. THE EXTRAVAGANT PARTY

For Cafe Extravagans, they were looking for men and women who wouldn't mind playing in opposite costumes. Men dressed as women and women dressed as men. The casting agency was also looking for a real gay couple for the same date.

5. THE REUNION

The Loustat reunion scene was shot in a studio in Prague, but they also change the exterior of a house in NOLA. However, they didn't end up using the shot in the show. @lynneville2

6. THE VAMPIRE DANIEL

Thanks to the BTS episode, we know that Daniel's reveal was originally much more dramatic.

*From what I see it doesn't look like they will be in Prague for S3. At least not this year. Probably the next? I'll have it confirmed around November 10, but by then we'll most likely know more from other sources.
