★ First things first, Gir cannot be in the same room as you when you listen to crime podcasts, documentaries and interrogation videos. You wouldn't want him to see all that violent stuff.

★ Zim doesn't pay a cent for the cable and streaming services he has. Don't ask him how he did it because it's probably illegal. Either way you now have access to many more documentaries and you don't have to go on shady website anymore.

★ When you first started solving the case before the show was over he was sure that you had seen it before. But no, you where just good at solving murders. He's a little impressed.

★ The two of you take turns picking what to watch when it's movie night. He likes to watch you solve whatever crime took place. He still gets a little creeped out when you point out what they should have done before they got caught.

★ " See that? He left a partial fingerprint on the glass, now they can compare it to prints in a database." This statement prompted him to collect samples of your fingerprints. For science!

★ Zims Computer has been used to look up, and has thus seen, so many atopsy and crime scene photos that it definitely desensitized by it now. You read through so many death certificates that you can understand doctors handwriting.

★ At first it would ask if you really wanted to see what you where looking up but now to just pulls up the photos without hesitation. Even photos you can't find on the sketchiest of websites are found.

★ Over time Zim might pick up the habit of listening to murder podcasts while working on something. Having a voice to listen to while he does some tedious tasks is nice, keeps him from getting bored. Plus the podcasts remind him of you.

He ends up playing what you humans play 'video games' with you.

He practically knows around your house... with help from secret cameras.

He knows whatever Earth slop you eat since he watches you eat it all the time.

Which usually ends up in him remembering it and finding it for you.

While he starts by being fake friends with you... G.I.R is completely fascinated with you.

It's so difficult for Zim to get the unit to act like an actual dog around you.

At some point he just accepts the fact you're going to know G.I.R is a robot and just... tells you he's a really good inventor?

Zim often asks you about Dib since you're his friend and take classes with him.

You answer innocently, even if Dib tells you not to trust Zim.

Zim isn't sure how to feel when he actually starts getting attached to you.

Then there's... why does he hate you around other human bugs?

Zim had always scoffed at the very idea of love, a foolish human weakness unworthy of his superior Irken intellect, never even considering himself to susceptible to such frivolous distractions.

To him, emotions were nothing but a weakness, a vulnerability for him to exploit for the greater good of the Irken invasion.

Your arrival stirred a dangerous storm within Zim, he masked his discomfort as distain and hatred, attempting to suppress that gnawing feeling in his stomach whenever you were around. A craving to dominate and control surged within him, a dark need he refused to acknowledge.

Zim found himself fixating on every detail of your life, justifying his intrusive surveillance as necessary intel for the invasion. He would follow you home, study your habits, and infiltrate your privacy at every turn. There was something about you, something so intoxicating, that he couldn’t pinpoint but knew he had to possess.

He believed the most effective approach was to engineer a closer connection with you.

Ever since he first landed on Earth, Zim operated in the shadows, people always dismissed his schemes and missions as something rational, feeding his narcissism in isolation. Something he never thought about twice until he saw you do it, shrugging off his achievements as if they were nothing, it seemed you were completely oblivious. Igniting a burning, consuming rage in Zim.

Zim desperately craved your adoration, and the fact that you didn’t seem interested in him irked him. He wanted your recognition, he needed it. It infuriated him that someone like you didn’t submit to his authority and bow down to his undeniable greatness.

Zim’s frustration boiled over one day when he noticed you talking and laughing with a group of classmates, completely oblivious to the elaborate gadget he’d created to capture your attention.

He had spent hours designing a device that emitted a mesmerizing light, convinced no human could ignore it. But there you were, barely even glancing in his direction.

“How dare they ignore the brilliance of ZIM!” he muttered, clenching his fists.

Overtime his attempts became more extravagant, trying to get your attention and recognition. He couldn’t stand the idea of you paying more attention to those horrible stink creatures more than him.

He misinterpreted the smallest gestures as to a sign of your respect and appreciation, all you might do is thank him for helping with the project and he responds with, “See! Even you recognize the greatness of ZIM! Soon, the entire Earth shall follow your example!” He then tries to downplay his excitement, nervously adding, “I mean, it was no big deal...”

Then he decided the best way to understand you better was through close surveillance, observing your daily life, perhaps even employing microscopic cameras to monitor your every move. “Yes, yes, must keep track of the human… for strategic purposes, of course.” he muttered obviously while glued to his monitor.

As another desperate attempt, his gifts became increasingly bizarre and threatening, such as a sharp, glowing crystal that hummed faintly. “Human crystals for… decoration! Humans love shiny objects, right?” he asked anxiously awaiting your approval. However, rejection sent him into unpredictable fits of rage. “Why didn’t you appreciate my gift?!” he yelled, then softened, “I… I only wanted to make you happy, my precious human pet. Don’t you see?” His eyes gleamed with a sinister light, his tone both menacing and pleading.

Despite Zim’s manipulative antics, there were times he couldn’t quite hide his true feelings. Whenever you were around, he struggled to maintain his composure, his eyes darting nervously as he analyzed your every reaction.

Deep down, beneath his evil invader exterior, he wrestled with the unfamiliar feeling you unleashed inside him. The scary tightness in his chest whenever he watched you without your knowledge, the empty pit in his stomach when you paid attention to someone else. It was a battle between his need for absolute control and his growing infatuation with you. His mind became a prison, each thought of you a chain binding him tighter to his desires.

As Zim’s obsession with you consumed him, he found himself dwelling on thoughts of you at odd hours. Every interaction, every fleeting glance exchanged, became subject to his obsessive analysis. His focus on the invasion began to waver as thoughts of you occupied more and more of his mind. He couldn’t shake the feeling that understanding you held the key to something greater than conquest, something he couldn’t quite define but felt compelled to pursue relentlessly.

Note: Don’t worry about being specific. Trust, I have the opposite issue if I’m being honest lol. Also, I think it’s a pretty popular hc that Zim has trouble hearing and is a germaphobe, so I added hints to that. (Also, I was gonna make this a M!Reader since there’s not a lot out there, but then I realized I never specified gender in the actual writing so it’s gender neutral)

Meeting Zim:

Depending on if Zim met you on Irk or on Earth, I think his reaction to you being half human would be slightly different

If you met on Irk, Zim wouldn’t really think of you as any different before he found out. You were just another soldier among the ranks, after all. Maybe you were a good soldier, maybe you weren’t. I don’t think Zim would care. Before learning about Earth, it’s doubtful Zim knew what a human was. So he’d probably freak out a bit when he saw you, thinking maybe you were sick or something.

If he met you on Earth, there’s two ways this could go. One, he could get really excited, happy to finally have another Irken on his side. Or… more likely, he would think that you being a hybrid was disgusting. “What Irk would mate with a nasty human??” Is what he’d probably say. It would… take him a bit to get used to you.

Comforting Zim:

Zim is a soldier! He’s tough and rude, as any Irken is.

But he can’t regulate himself, his emotions, well. He has… outbursts. Often.

Irkens don’t like to look weak. Friends or not, Zim won’t want you around him when he gets strong feelings like this. He thinks one day, no matter how nice you are to him, the Irken in you will come to your senses and leave him while he’s weak.

It’s unlikely Irkens can cry, being sensitive to water and all that, but Zim seems to get pretty close to it sometimes. He gets overwhelmed. For a Irken who can’t hear well, sounds overwhelm him easily.

Get this dude a pair of noise canceling headphones. He won’t thank you, because… well, it’s Zim, but he will be grateful. He’ll probably go on a little “mission” to get you something in return.

There’s no “right” way to comfort Zim when he gets in a mood. There will be times where you can’t comfort him at all. To be honest, the best thing you can do in intense situations is just be there with him. Talk to him when he calms down. Get his mind off Dib, or Gir, or whatever it was that made him upset. He’ll be the closest an Irken can get to being thankful.

(These might be a little short but it’s all I can think of right now. Also, I’m not too good at proofreading right after writing, so if there’s errors just let me know 👍)

★ Understandable, you would be friends with an alien. He likes you because you don't ask to many questions. When you do it's usually on topic for the conversation, like when you asked if he could digest chicken nuggets.

★ Before he considered you a friend, his paranoia about you secretly working for Dib- or even Tak lead him to keep tabs on you. Untill he could prove that you don't work for his enemies.

★ He isn't really interested in the magical objects you keep around. Unless it can be useful to him, but that's only if the object can hurt someone or has some kind of curse that he can weaponize.

★ Gone is the master lock you use for security, he replaced it with a fingerprint lock. You bribed him into making the upgrade for you by offering him some broken alien tech in exchange.

Dib

★ You're the only person other than Gaz who believes that Zim is a alien. Be prepared for him to info dump about the irken race. You are probably the first (willing) person to hear him talk about it, so please listen.

★ Your shack in the backyard is his own personal heaven. It's not to shabby either, you installed fairy lights on the inside. He takes the initiative to catalog everything you keep in there.

★ He keeps notes on what you have and the stories behind it. Each object has its own story behind it, by now you must have plenty of good stories. He'd love to listen to you talk about your experiences.

★ I can see you keeping a baseball bat inside the shack for safety reasons. Dib will always remember the time you hit Zim in the stomach with said baseball bat. It was his own fault for shouting in your ear.

Gaz

★ She might "borrow" some stuff from your shack. It comes in handy when she gets into a fight with Dib and needs something to terrorize him. Emotionally damaging people is okay when it's your sibling!

★ When you get into trouble with cursed objects or haunted dolls she only helps you if she might get to see a ghost or some other undead creature. It's the goth in her. She seemed like the kind of person to own a ouija board.

★ Naturally, you've learned differently ways to fight supernatural and paranormal things. Gaz now knows how to banish a demon and that you should never invite talking animals inside your house.

Similar to Zim, she plans to keep you in a cell with MiMi watching your every move.

She may even make you walk in there yourself as she's shown to have some sort of mind trick powers.

Said powers are actually how she gets you gifts, food, and others to not question your disappearance.

Why should they worry?

They no longer need to do that.

Such manipulation is how she gets her way without too much violence, which could draw attention.

People like Dib and Zim could notice.

But she'll probably find other ways to keep them out of her way.

Examples include an injury of some kind... or even death (Especially for Zim).

Tak plans everything, so others finding out about you will be easy for her to cover up for the most part.

You're scared enough when Tak, whom you thought was your friend, kidnapped you.

Yet you're even more scared when she reveals herself as her Irken form, an alien smaller than you yet still quite capable of harm.

She'd probably stay her Irken form around you in private, not caring much about you seeing her now.

Scared? Understandable.

But if she went through all this trouble of 'courting' and caging you... Then it must mean she cares, right?

You doubt that.

She'd probably do things like pet you or hold you close to him.

She may even praise you, dehumanizing you into a pet.

She sort of sees the appeal now.

She likes having control over you, a human.

Your species is lesser to her...

You should feel grateful she's 'pampering' you.

It irritates her when you sit in the corner and sob that wretched salty water.

Do you need more affection?

More pets? Hugs? That kiss thing humans do?

She doesn't particularly enjoy it... but it is a bit endearing to see how you react.

Tak blames you for catching her attention.

Yet... You'll prove useful.

Her first step is going along with her current plan.

She'll get rid of Zim... and Dib for that matter.

Then she'll claim the Earth as her own to impress The Tallest.

After that?

Well... After that you're coming home with her.

She thinks she's courted her human correctly.

After all, now you're hers!

You'll live in the cell she made for you and stockpile supplies...

Then you'll go to your new home with her...

Her beloved human pet... or is it a partner in your culture? She still doesn't quite understand.
