I’m waiting for my install of The Sims 4 to update with the new stupid EA launcher and am drinking a beer and digesting the weekend and planning this week and it got longer than I expected

Had off Friday and got my hair cut for the first time since July. Did laundry and hung out with my dad for a bit. Got a new dish from the local Chinese restaurant that was like 40% onions. Gross. Saturday I swept & vacuumed the house (stabbed the shit out of my finger on a pushpin that was stuck in the vacuum hose), cleaned the kitchen, and hung out with my friends & boyfriend. We saw the FNAF movie in the evening, which was fine. The animatronics were very cool and the story was accessible whether you were familiar with the games or not. I liked Foxy’s weirdly intimidating “dum-de-dum”, the YouTuber cameos, and the end credits song. I only ever watched like two playthrough of the first game and didn’t realize Foxy’s area was right next to the main stage? I thought he had his own room. Today I could not get motivated until the afternoon but made myself go out for a walk (and PokeGo), grocery shopping (soup was on sale!), and raked leaves.

Tomorrow I have a meeting at work at 10, then have to leave by 3:30 to make sure my mom’s dog gets to the vet by 5… Tuesday is Friendsgiving at my other office so Monday night I also have to bake two things (probably chocolate zucchini bread and a gluten-free cinnamon coffee cake)… Wednesday is normal I think. Thursday is a teleconference training 9-11, then a staff meeting on the afternoon???

Friday the current gov’t budget runs out and I haven’t heard yet about congress signing another continuing resolution yet so we may shutdown /blows a raspberry into my palm

my agency has prior-year funds that can be used to keep our salaries up which is COOL except I also had to work through the 2018 shutdown while my mom’s agency was furloughed. :/ I should be grateful to have job security and a paycheck while other people may not get paid until the end of the shutdown. But still. I want some time off where I don’t have to worry about my stupid email inbox.

Anyway while all this is going on, I’m basically waiting for my mom to let me know my aunt passed away since she was sent to a hospice facility last Sunday and the plan was for her to go back home on Friday to, you know. It sucks and even tho I’ve been waiting for this since she got diagnosed in the late spring, I feel like my pre-grieving is going to go about as well as Roman Roy’s did.

It's too bad Fischl is not so good and you didn't get a better dps, sadly, the bigger the range of characters, the smaller our chance of getting the character we want... That is, if they don't separate them in different banners in the future since there will be so many... It is unlikely, but a girl can dream.

I will go do my reading then, so I can fully understand the aspects of the banners... I never learned probability properly in school, but I guess they were training me for this day.

What event are you talking about? I only have Zhongli's story quest, the daily prizes, the permanent ones, the test runs and the Lisa and Kaeya note... Anyway I guess I can't play it yet. I have seen some strange spark that started a course, but I thought that was permanent random thing lol

I'm trying to be slow and enjoy the story, or else I would already be in Liyue I guess! I leaned that playing Horizon: Zero Down; the console was a friend's so I had to speed up and finish fast. What happened? I had to play a chapter meant to be played in level 34 while I was in level 24... Ha I got really mad at my devastating defeat, but I managed, not without dying dozens of times of couse.

That way of thinking about spears is so smart, it is kinda like that, I played Xiangling's side quest yesterday and I can see your point, it was so cool, they are something else indeed.

Mihoyo seems to be a nice company, and i think they are going to make good decisions in the future too!

I can see this exchange as some sort of friendship because I do like talking with you as well!! I’m glad that you’re learning something, you have been putting me to thinking about things a lot too. 

Ah, you will get there to do your pulls, you’re so right in saving them. I did paid for the boost of daily primal gems, so I’m not so free to play as I claim to be, I paid like... 2 months. My sister too. 

I and she agreed that it worthed (at the time we brought the first one, it was hella less expensive, now it’s almost the double of the price, but well, I needed it for Zhongli, it was better than spend crazy amounts). I don’t regret it, it’s less expensive than actually buying at once the amount for 10 pulls. So yeah, it’s better for you to save up your primals!! 

Unless you get to see a 4 star that you really like, then you should try go for it a little, I tried getting Diona from the last banner, that’s why I also didn’t have enough to try 2 times for Zhongli. Which is a downside, xD then maybe you should really just save it all you can. 

In a sense I was so lucky in getting Fischl, she was my first 4 star pulled from a special banner and since then she never left my party (I don’t regret having her as dps, even if she don’t cause a crazy amount of damage like Childe do per example). 

We haven’t been playing since the first day actually, I think went to play weeks after the launch... she got luck for sure. Besides that thing I told you in the last ask, there’s a super rare rate between 47-50 pulls that you can get a 5 star and she got Keqin in the normal banner like this too. So she has Keqin, Qiqi and Childe as 5 stars, because she hit that rate. 

While the 90 pulls guarantee a 5 star, the 47-50 is for when you do single pulls and pure luck. She hit it without even counting. 

But yeah, she got Razor at the same time I got my Fischl actually, but she got him from the standard banner, meanwhile I got Fischl from Venti’s banner (actually, I think she has a Fischl too), but the fact is that she does have more characters than me cuz she don’t hold her pulls, she is always using them as soon she get the primals. 

Besides, my sister is the type of player that got all the chests of the game, that finished all the quests early on, never lost any event and grind super hard, I slacked a little bit when we started playing, some days I didn’t even logged in. I started playing seriously after 1 week I guess, and even so she is hardcore in getting things in the game that I normally don’t even bother :’) 

It is better to pull on the special banners, but kkkkk well, it’s a matter of luck, because while I was doing single pulls on the normal banner, I got a Razor from there too lately instead of getting him in the special banner kkkkkkk you get what I mean? You just can get luck and, in a sense, yes, they will keep adding characters and make it harder on us to get constellations, but this is how the game is supposed to be. There’s nothing we can do about it. 

4 stars are more reliable than the limited time 5 stars in the special banner, meanwhile, the 5 stars in the normal banner are, indeed, in long term, equally more reliable and a better investment. Because in theory, you have the chance of keeping pulling them until the end of the game. The bad thing is that their abilities are outdated compared with characters like Childe and Zhongli =/ 

I think the flying event is only for players over level 20... I think you kinda should hurry up for it a little bit kkkkkk they’re giving us 60 primal gems in every course when we finish the little mini-game. And of course, you will have to unlock Liyue’s map =/ so the event will only show up to you after you do all of that. When you get in Liyue you can slow everything down tho, the story at least. 

Ah!! I brought Horizon Dawn those days!! I’m searching for better ways to play it properly because I found it very complicated to understand, so I’m playing The Last Guardian before going to HD. If you have tips, please feel free to tell me!!

Did you enjoy playing with Zhongli? Like his physical sequence of hits? I found him so fun to play with!! He’s so fast. He’s faster than Xiangling for sure!!

I was testing Keqin today too and she’s super fast for a single hand sword user, she’s faster than the Traveler for sure too. Or at least, that was the feeling I had. 

I think Mihojo is... well, not exactly bad but not the nicer, they’re lacking in many things about the game. The issue with bugs, the lack of security in accounts, the system of resin and such, but compared to EA, Beemoov or Nintendo, Mihojo surely isn’t the worst.

I’m very excited about this week’s Sunday Chats because it’s all about E3 predictions! This time next week, we’ll BE INSIDE E3! Personal Update for June

So any one close to me will no that the last week of my life has been exceptionally difficult. Some folks close to me, both physically and emotionally have been making decisions that have been pretty toxic, I can’t lie. It’s led to a pretty unhealthy living situation that I’d rather not get into, and whether things blow over, get worse, I’m not sure. I obviously don’t want to spill any personal juice here, but anyone who has seen me out here tweeting like the dramatic boi I am on the inside about how I need some good vibes, that’s a general overview of the situation, if you were concerned.

I’m thankful for all my close friends out there texting me, checking on me, and making sure I am doing okay, even if I’m not. It is upsetting that this just so happens to coincide with the busiest time of the year in video games, so if this bleeds over into our content over on Irrational Passions I apologize. Sometimes its a bit unavoidable.

Anyway, I appreciate you all taking the time to interact and be a part of my silly Selfie Saturdays or Sunday Chats, it means the world. I’ve been working hard with the team @ Irrational Passions to make some really fun stuff, including a new show that acts as a spiritual successor to our roundtables from 2017 Game of the Year talks.

What’s on Tap

Moonlighter

So I just started this tonight and I have to say: right away I just love it.

The idea is you live in a small town that neighbors these ancient ruins that lead to these very dangerous dungeons, and once upon a time travelers and adventurers used to come here to explore those dungeons, and merchants would sell supplies and goodies to gear them up for those journeys. Eventually it grew too dangerous, but you are someone who Moonlights as an adventurer and runs a shop on the front end.

You dive into these dungeons and get awesome treasure and loot and goodies to then sell in your shop to expand your shop, get better weapons and armor, and continue deeper into the dungeons. It’s an amazing idea, and it’s executed on so well.

The game sustains such a great and rewarding loop, and it’s also got tons of charm and amazingly well executed on pixel art.

On top of that the UI is also just very good? It’s super slick and smooth. 

I’m only a couple hours in but I just adore it. Mike Burgess, producer at IP, did a video review on it that I saw the first cut of today and it’s actually what sold me on it. See it soon!

Detroit Become Human

I’ve already said so much about this game I’m exhausted. I love this game.

It has so many issues and in spite of all that, I genuinely adored my time with Detroit.

Dark Souls Remastered

This game is still so good. I think I may like it even more than Dark Souls 3, a game I picked up just very briefly a few weeks ago.

I’ve now got the power to fast travel and am just warping around and exploring again. I even dipped my toe into the DLC area which I have never seen before. 

It’s excellent, and seeing it run smooth has been super rewarding for me, a longtime fan of the title.

I’d love this. I think they have such a “robust” (#branding) library of handheld games that it’d make too much sense to carry them over to their now partially handheld big console.

I am definitely with you on the “deep dive”, though I don't think there will be a long explanation of things, just a nice gameplay demo. My theory I posited on Get Acquainted was like an 8 minute trailer that leads into about four minutes of gameplay at the end, but it’s just enough cinematic that we’re convinced there will be no gameplay, and then BOOM. There is.

I could see them saying 2019 at the end too, though I doubt they’ll hit it.

I mean, it’s gotta be the time, right? I need to know what this Resident Evil 2 Remake looks like. I know the director was out there talking about it not terribly too long ago, and it just feels like ages since we heard about it. With Capcom announcing RE7 and then releasing it 6 months later, on top of Monster Hunter World’s recent success, they are on a great path! Time to continue it!

As for DMC 5 I mean everyone seems convinced it’s coming and I just don’t care.

I love the Rocksteady prediction, because they’ve been cooking that bad boy for a good long while. I hope it’s Superman because I have supreme faith they’ll knock it out of the park. Maybe even an origin story? I’d love to see Rocksteady do one of those.

And I do, also, believe that Shadows Die Twice is Tenchu.

Dishonored getting a reboot I just don’t see happening. I think it’s time Arkane moves onto some new IP. Something that is hopefully a bit more eye-catchy so they get get back into a popular circle, then maybe spend a few years making iterations of that. Maybe in a few years past that they can return to Dunwall and take another crack at Dishonored.

Doom 2 can be wherever the hell it wants and I am HERE for it. But judging by the sounds of things that may not be at this E3, and that’s okay. It makes me sad, but it’s okay.

SIM 4 thoughts:

So there has been couple things that have been bugging me lately regarding sims 4 as a topic of discussion lately.

I know that I have barely any impact on this community considering that I mostly watch and follow rather that create the content but I wanted to write about this anyway.

Sooo! The topic I want to discuss is what some of our lovely community members want sims 4 team to bring in to the game or future sims games what they have and what they haven't.

My number one issue is the open world

When the sims 3 came out I actually did not play it myself that much. Propably once or twice, but what I do remember tho is that it was very laggy game.

The sims 3 open world requires your computer to be powerful enough to run it especially if the player want to play with multiple game packs aswell and that kils the gaming experience.

Simply not everyone has the ability to obtain a computer to be able to run it and I believe that this is a reason why the sims team removed it from the sims 4. And people who complain about it don't seem to realise that not everyone would be able to play the game in that case. And what EA and the sims team is trying to do is to make the game more playable and accessible for everyone.

Now as a former sims 2 player I can tell that sims 4 sims has more mobility compared to sims 2 but less that sims 3. Which I am happy about. Don't get me wrong tho. I would love an open world but sadly I most likely can't run it.

I would rather have the expansion packs than the open world to be honest.

What would be nice is that since we have districts in sims 4 why we could not have open districts instead of fully open world.

Now other thing is that the sims 4 team seem to be either lazy or very rushed with their updates and releases.

All the little mistakes that they happen to make with their builds and furniture (u know I'm talking about counters) why just not take the extra week to test run it by game changers team and fix tha very small things?

Now last problem is connected to the second one.

It has been proven by sims team in previous games that it is possible to have some actually fun stuff in the game like cars. In sims 2 especially we always had cars. As well as interesting staircases that we're not customizable as much but they were fun. Bring that back please?

What I would have loved myself in reality (a bit late to talk about it I assume) but with the 20y bday of sims to receive a cool stuff pack or something from the team that would combine all these small coom stuff from previous games in the sims 4 game.

Give me the sexy hotthub from sims 1 (not the new hotthub) and the heart bed from sims 1 and 2.

Bing back the robber and the skunk

Maybe more proper back stories of our townies? With already made up relationships and personality?

sony: F+. 30 fucking minutes on a pretentious music playing, talking, and a sequel to a game I hate with every fiber of my being with what looks like an even dumber story? and then a 15 minute gameplay preview for ghosts of tsushima? RE2make couldn’t save you from that, sony. 

nintendo: D+ maybe. I dunno. robit game looked cool. smash looks neat. three houses mite b cool if it isn’t butchered by tree house

final verdict: when microsoft is the winner of an E3, it’s honestly an underwhelming E3. sony really fucked up this time. C.
