Because I've been pretty open about my issues, I'm starting to think that people who like offering advice to strangers online do so for their own sake - like wanting to feel good/rewarded - rather than out of empathy.

I think if you don't have the time to engage but still want to show support, a simple "good luck", "I am rooting for you" etc is way better than a generic advice.

And if you truly truly want to help, rather than making assumptions and comparisons to yourself, and rather than giving a generic advice (which rarely fits with people's specific issues), offer a conversation instead. Offer to understand the issue more before commenting. There are some advices that I've gotten that I prefer I just never read them at all because they felt so belittling or so absolutely unfit that it felt like reading a chatbot.

And often after pointing out that an advice is unrelatable it brings no further response which is how I came to the conclusion that it's not out of empathy but for the feel-good quick fix...

(and I want to make it clear, this is not aimed at people who genuinely engage in a conversation 🙏)

When browsing through the wares of a newly opened magic shop you passed by an item that caught your interest, a massive mirror

You peaked inside expecting to see yourself, but instead you saw, a girl? About your height, quite pretty, good taste in fashion… Maybe your mom when she was younger?

It feels weird, in a good way, to see this girl follow all your movements, you couldn’t help but smile, and her smile is radiant

You felt an odd sense of relief… until you looked down to see that, you’re you, of course you are

Why do you feel so sad?

“Quite the item isn’t it?”, the Witch tending the shop noticed your interest and started talking to you “a magic mirror that shows you what you’d look like if you were born the opposite sex”

You stare into it

Why do you feel this deep dread?

“But that’s not all it does!” The witch continues “want to see a magic trick?” The witch asks laying a hand on your back

You’re curious to see where this is going, so you nod your head

In one swoop the witch pushes you against the mirror and as you brace yourself to slam into it, stumbling on your feet across the floor, you find yourself slamming into the witch face first

She laughs “I probably didn’t need to push that hard”

As you lay on the ground you feel different, you look as you prepare to push yourself up from the ground you notice your hands… are they smaller?

As you get it up and oriented yourself you glance at the mirror, still the same showing girl you, but how did you get turned around did… did you get

“Sorry” the witch says as her laughter days down “that’s the first time I’ve pushed someone through a mirror, should’ve seen that coming”

You look down and see the dress you’re wearing

“Now cutie” the witch claps her hands, and jumps up! She has a grin you don’t trust “I hoped you enjoyed the trick! If you ever want to become a guy again And I hope you have some savings! Gender-bending magic is quite expensive!”

You stumble back, you can’t turn back? The mirror is showing yo- Girl You, not the real Guy You, so… that’s a no go? You’re way to poor for anything

“But don’t worry cutie, we pay quite well here and just so happen have an opening for a maid and I can assure you, you’ll look just adorable in the uniform”

THE LIVING MUSEUM: CHAPTER 1

As luck would have it, the detective had a case that had just been given to her by the Chief Constable Barton (talk about a high order!) I watched as she leafed through the folders on her desk before slipping out a small stack of papers and bringing them over to me. Clearing her throat, Detective Layton ran over the details…

“At approximately 2:00pm, a fire alarm in the Natural History Museum sounded. Around 5 minutes later, visitors in the museum reported that they witnessed several exhibits, and I quote, ‘come to life before their eyes.’ There were visitors who told officials that the suits of armour on display had started to move and raise their weapons, visitors who reported that paintings on the walls started to melt and blink, and visitors who said that the dinosaur skeleton exhibits had opened their mouths and moved their heads. But the most damning of all seemed to be the Tyrannosaurus rex exhibit, who not just moved but assumed a lunging stance with its full body, as well as somehow roared.”

“Right, that’s odd. And?”

“Well, since the officials were only able to question the visitors outside of the museum due to everyone having been evacuated because of the fire alarm, naturally they went inside to check the exhibits themselves.”

“And they found…?”

“Nothing. They did a whole sweep of the area, but they found nothing out of place. All exhibits were in their normal places, the paintings were just fine, and everything was untouched.”

“Wow…”

“I assume the reason that Barton held onto what information they had on it and handed it to me was due to the witnesses. Despite the fact that the Yard found no obvious signs of tampering, everyone swears up and down the walls that the museum had seemingly come to life at that moment.”

“...That is a proper mystery. And these files are all we have on the matter?”

“Well, in a sense, yes. These are all the files we have,” Detective Layton muses as she taps the bottom of the stack on the coffee table. Then, getting up, she drops the stack back in their folder. “...Which is why I was thinking of heading over to the museum myself to do a bit of personal investigation.”

“As expected of the great Professor Layton,” I say cheekily as I stand and follow her to the front door, grabbing my jacket off the hanger in the process. The detective sighs lightly as she places her hat on her head, pulling the brim over her eyes in mock disappointment. “Please, Ms. Altava. It's just Detective.”

Now lifting the brim, she smiles brightly as she grabs her umbrella.

“So, Ms. Altava… let’s go investigate this living museum with our own two eyes, shall we?”

And with that, our adventure into the peculiar museum begi-

“Ah, but before that, I have here the directions to the museum written for me by Barton, and it seems to be a puzzle of some sort. As you’re now my assistant, why don’t you give it a shot? Think of it as a warm-up of things to come.”

…Right. She’s Layton’s daughter, after all. How could I have forgotten? …And are we sure they're not really related by blood…?

Because LATGBG is niche enough to where it hasn’t blown up yet, I figured I’d go ahead some ground rules! I hope this guide is able to help with the dos and don’ts when it comes to my personal comfort as Lumi’s communitu to grow.

Fanart is A-OK, in fact, I would love to see it! Because my notifications have been blowing up so much, I may miss it— so please be sure to tag me!

Original characters are a big YES! You are free to make original characters and do with them what you wish. The galaxy is huge, after all— this includes making original species or expanding on the current species. You are also free to connect them to the main characters, if you wish!

Shipping/self shipping is fair game. I do not mind it, but Lumi is not a show where there is any intention of shipping in mind. Have fun, but do not bully others! I don’t care how many times I have to go and scold others myself, I will not tolerate it. Be kind!

Headcanons are A-OK! I consider the galaxy and characters to be one big playground, so if there is a certain idea you may have that aligns with any of the characters, please feel free to express it and headcanon to your heart’s delight. Again, do not bully others for their ideas or headcanons, though I will not confirm if they are canon or not!

Cosplays are A-OK! Again, I would love to see them, so please tag me so I can see them!

You are free to use the work from the pilot as icons, headers, etc etc! This also includes art I’ve done of the Lumi cast and characters, as long as you link back to the original source!

Making fan made merch for yourself is A-OK, but as I do not know the inner workings of making fan merch, I ask you do not sell Lumi merch when it comes to making things such as t-shirts, hoodies and plushies, etc to sell as I will consider it to be unauthorized— especially if you’re a company such as Hot Topic (though I doubt it’d ever get to that point!). I am not a large creator, and would prefer if merch is handled by myself for the time being. Things such as gaming skins (like Roblox for example) and other things of the like are OK as long as they are not sold and distributed for free.

As I cannot control what the internet as a whole does, I ask that if any erotic content is made regarding this, that it is tagged separately, properly and is not placed in the main tag. I will not be looking into this tag; nor will I be making one for you. Any erotic art that is made featuring these characters is not condoned by me and I flat out do not encourage it— but I also harbor no delusions that this will stop anyone. At the very least, I warn those who create this sort of artwork to be mindful of what they post and be respectful to myself and others who may not want to see this content.
